Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I spent the evening looking into this AI shit and made a wee informative post of the information I found and thought all artists would be interested and maybe help yall?
edit: forgot to mention Glaze and Nightshade to alter/disrupt AI from taking your work into their machines. You can use these and post and it will apparently mess up the AI and it wont take your content into it's machine!
edit: ArtStation is not AI free! So make sure to read that when signing up if you do! (this post is also on twt)
[Image descriptions: A series of infographics titled: “Opt Out AI: [Social Media] and what I found.” The title image shows a drawing of a person holding up a stack of papers where the first says, ‘Terms of Service’ and the rest have logos for various social media sites and are falling onto the floor. Long transcriptions follow.
Instagram/Meta (I have to assume Facebook).
Hard for all users to locate the “opt out” options. The option has been known to move locations.
You have to click the opt out link to submit a request to opt out of the AI scraping. *You have to submit screenshots of your work/face/content you posted to the app, is curretnly being used in AI. If you do not have this, they will deny you.
Users are saying after being rejected, are being “meta blocked”
People’s requests are being accepted but they still have doubts that their content won’t be taken anyways.
Twitter/X
As of August 2023, Twitter’s ToS update:
“Twitter has the right to use any content that users post on its platform to train its AI models, and that users grant Twitter a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to do so.”
There isn’t much to say. They’re doing the same thing Instagram is doing (to my understanding) and we can’t even opt out.
Tumblr
They also take your data and content and sell it to AI models.
But you’re in luck!
It is very simply to opt out (Wow. Thank Gods)
Opt out on Desktop: click on your blog > blog settings > scroll til you see visibility options and it’ll be the last option to toggle
Out out of Mobile: click your blog > scroll then click visibility > toggle opt out option
TikTok
I took time skim their ToS and under “How We Use Your Information” and towards the end of the long list: “To train and improve our technology, such as our machine learning models and algorithms.”
Regarding data collected; they will only not sell your data when “where restricted by applicable law”. That is not many countries. You can refuse/disable some cookies by going into settings > ads > turn off targeted ads.
I couldn’t find much in AI besides “our machine learning models” which I think is the same thing.
What to do?
In this age of the internet, it’s scary! But you have options and can pick which are best for you!
Accepting these platforms collection of not only your artwork, but your face! And not only your faces but the faces of those in your photos. Your friends and family. Some of those family members are children! Some of those faces are minors! I shudder to think what darker purposes those faces could be used for.
Opt out where you can! Be mindful and know the content you are posting is at risk of being loaded to AI if unable to opt out.
Fully delete (not archive) your content/accounts with these platforms. I know it takes up to 90 days for instagram to “delete” your information. And even keep it for “legal” purposes like legal prevention.
Use lesser known social media platforms! Some examples are; Signal, Mastodon, Diaspora, et. As well as art platforms: Artfol, Cara, ArtStation, etc.
The last drawing shows the same person as the title saying, ‘I am, by no means, a ToS autistic! So feel free to share any relatable information to these topics via reply or qrt!
I just wanted to share the information I found while searching for my own answers cause I’m sure people have the same questions as me.’ \End description] (thank you @a-captions-blog!)

With Serendipity in the hypothetical Black Myth sequel I just imagined somewhere, in the void of nothingness, SWK and LEM are there. They don't follow the natural order of life so they're in a place unknown. Maybe in this void they'll finally get the chance to talk to each other and maybe be friends, once getting past the imposter thing.
I love that - imagine two Obi Wans, except they're either fighting or making out. Erlang eventually figures out that the monkeys are weird spirits and tries punching Wukong's ghost out of anger/worry/joy.
Also gonna share screenshots of our reply ramblings! I put transcripts in the image descriptions. :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Serendipity (btw I looked up the word in Mandarin = Ǒu Rán Xìng/偶然性), def has a huge idol/parent-complex regarding their creators. Sun Wukong is both loved and hated across China, and suddenly there's this imposter running around holding his relics and interacting with his family and friends!
Steven Universe is very apt in this situation since Serendipity is both a part and an extension of Sun Wukong and the Six Eared Macaque. It confuses a lot of gods.
Also this line fits them very well:
Serendipity, after hearing another "wrong" SWK committed: "Stop it! I can't deal with one more horrible thing he did, Okay?! I don't want to hear about it! I don't even want to think about it!" (powers charging up) "I just… want to fix it!!"
Cue boss battle.
Also for those wondering what a Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey looks like;
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You're welcome.
That height difference between Serendipity and the Destined One probably ridiculous. In the book, Wukong is a pretty short guy - Destined One could be a complete 6ft+ outlier of a monkey demon. XD

Looking for Manga/Comic Transcriber
Hello! I am a blind person in search of someone with experience creating complex written transcriptions of manga or comics to be read by the blind.
Some years ago, I had made contact with a Tumblr user who did precisely this for commission, but I have long since lost contact with that person and I am unsure if there are others who have done this sort of work. But hey, it’s 2025, and you never know.
I am specifically interested in commissioning written transcriptions of the Ouran High School Host Club manga. Someone who is already somewhat familiar with the material would be a bonus, though not a requirement. I would likely be requesting to start the transcription several chapters into the manga, rather than at the very beginning, since much of the early manga is mostly well preserved in the anime, and I have been able to experience at least part of it from the manga dub on YouTube. But depending on availability and time commitment, I may wish to revisit the first chapters after the rest are done for completion sake.
I am able to offer some amount of commission pay for this work, though I would request some amount of communication or documentation on progress. I would of course also want to see some examples of previous transcription work you’ve done and your rates for cost.
I am willing to consider someone who has not done dedicated written transcriptions of visual media specifically for blind people before, but I would need you to do some ground research on what makes a good image description and try your hand at a few pages first. I am happy to provide some general tips And examples, but I don’t currently have the time or spoons to teach someone from Ground Zero entirely on my own.
I can provide an example of a previous Ouran manga chapter transcription done by the previous transcriber for anyone interested as well. I would not necessarily require you to use the exact same narrative description style, but I was very happy with their work.
For anyone interested, please feel free to reach out via DM’s. I may not be as likely to notice replies or reblogs, so DM’s will be the most efficient communication channel.
Thanks! 💖

As we enter the second wave of toys, a new She-Ra and Swift Wind have to be explained to the consumer, so Adora and Spirit wander through an interdimensional portal into a beautiful land called Crystal World. Josh is there.
Transcript/Image ID below the cut
[Image Description: 14 comic pages from the She-Ra mini-comic, “Across the Crystal Light Barrier”.
Cover: Starburst She-Ra stands with arms spread high to show off her sparkles, Crystal Swift Wind at her side. They’re standing atop a mountain made of glittering crystal, beneath the Princess of Power logo. At the bottom of the page, “Across the Crystal Light Barrier” is written and actually outlined, though still definitely not the color I would have gone with. Beneath that, in a small font, it reads, “Illustrations: (copyright symbol) Mattel, Inc. 1985 Hawthorne CA 90250 U.S.A. PRINTED IN HONG KONG. All Rights Reserved. (registered trademark symbol) and TM designate U.S. trademarks of Mattel, Inc.
The coloring style from this issue on becomes more pastel, and the gouache is blended more, giving it a softer feeling.
Page 1: A pink caption box reads, “Outings in Etheria are always very special and today’s picnic had been no exception. Adora smiled as Josh and Bow leaned against a fruit tree, the picnic basket empty and their bellies full. Spirit and Arrow stood nibbling at the lumps of sugar Glimmer held out in her hand.” Which pretty much covers the illustration. Adora is sitting on a blanket with the empty picnic basket.
Josh was apparently slated to be the Robin to Bow’s Batman at one point, but he never did get an official design, so this is just ‘generic blond man’. A second pink caption box at the bottom of the page contains the credits, “Produced exclusively for Mattel by: Writer… Tina Harris & Eric Frydler. Penciler… Jim Mitchell. Inker… Todd Kurosawa. Colorist… Charles Simpson. Editor: Joan Dumbauld & Lee Nordling”.
“Want to race, Adora?” asks Glimmer. The composition on this page is leaps and bounds over the previous issue. Whatever Jim Mitchell was doing between waves one and two, I appreciate it.
“Sure! Come on!” says Adora.
End Page 1.
Page 2: Adora and Glimmer mounted up. The second Bow fired his starting arrow, they took off! Galloping down the orchard path, they disappeared from sight. Neck-in-neck [sic], they raced against each other. Adora and Glimmer sped over field and stream, dashing wildly along the winding path.” So apparently we’re just going for outright narration. That’s cool. Kind of a weird decision in a comic, but I’m not a cop. Bow shoots his starting arrow and the girls take off, Adora on Spirit and Glimmer on Arrow.
A beautifully colored panel of the race in partial silhouette.
A rounded white caption box reads, “Suddenly, a mysterious burst of light appeared from nowhere!” and we see Adora rear back on Spirit, who balks at a stylized glow.
End Page 2.
Page 3: A pink caption box reads, “Adora and Spirit slowed their pace. Startled, Arrow bolted, throwing Glimmer from his back”. Arrow is rearing and our heroes are walking sedately into the light.
End Page 3.
Page 4: A lavender caption box reads, “Rounding the bend, Josh and Bow hurried to see the race’s finish. They found Glimmer on the ground and helped her to her feet. "Where is Adora?" Bow asked. "I don’t know," Glimmer replied. "She just disappeared!" "Over here!" Adora cried. I’ve crossed the Crystal Light Barrier." Missed some quotation marks there. Another reason not to use them in caption boxes. Adora and Spirit’s silhouette is distorted by the field of light and Josh’s hair is brown now.
“Spirit and I are lost in a strange and wondrous land!” says Adora.
End Page 4.
Page 5: A lavender caption box reads, “There Adora and Spirit stood, across a bottomless crack. "Arrow and I will save you!" Bow exclaimed. Glimmer begged him not to go and Adora breathed a word of caution. "She’s right. It’s much too dangerous. We’ll have to find our own way back to Etheria."" Adora and Spirit stare down into a foggy abyss, surrounded by crystal.
“Come on, Spirit! Maybe we can find someone to help us,” says Adora.
End Page 5.
Page 6:  A pink caption box reads, “Adora and her faithful steed wandered for many miles. Above them shone a bright rainbow sun. All around them, jewel-like mountain tops and petrified flowers glistened under the strange light.” over an illustration of exactly that.
“How beautiful!” says Adora, smiling.
End Page 6.
Page 7: A lavender caption box reads, “Soon they came upon a dazzling sight–a glittering herd of horses, unlike any they had ever seen before! Each horse had a color all its own–and each one shone like crystal! "Spirit, look!" Adora cried. "We’ve found help at last! But who can these beauties be?"" Adora points at a group of seven sparkling steeds, each with a pair of feathered (crystalline) wings.
“We are the Guardians of Crystal World,” says a voice from off panel.
“Who…? What…?” asks Adora, looking around.
End Page 7.
Page 8: A lavender caption box reads, “The voice belonged to a sleek, crystal horse named Crystal Moonbeam. Adora quickly spoke to him. "We came across the Barrier and now we can’t get back." The lavender stallion nodded. "Recrossing the Crystal Light Barrier is certainly most difficult."" And I have to tell you, this horse is not lavender. His toy is a translucent violet, but this comic has him a soft periwinkle, cut through with orange light because he’s made of crystal.
“Quite soon, you and your horse will become like us,” says Crystal Moonbeam, ominously.
“You mean we will turn into crystal?” asks Adora. Neither she nor Spirit seem thrilled at the possibility.
End Page 8.
Page 9: A pink caption box reads, “Crystal Moonbeam nodded gravely. "Yes. Anyone who touches the ground of Crystal World must change." But Adora hadn’t changed at all!” There was plenty of room for dialogue boxes saying this. Why even make this a comic?
“I haven’t stepped from Spirit’s back,” says Adora. “I haven’t touched your world."
“Then, there may be a chance,” says Crystal Moonbeam.
End Page 9.
Page 10: A lavender caption box reads, “Dashing to his herd, Crystal Moonbeam returned with a sparkling filly. "This is my sister Crystal Sun Dancer," the lavender horse whinnied. "She knows the way across the Crystal Light Barrier."" The still distinctly un-lavender Crystal Moonbeam introduces them to a slightly smaller, yellowy orange horse.
“But to cross the Barrier again, you must have the power to fly!” says Crystal Moonbeam.
“The crack is too deep to risk crossing it any other way,” says Crystal Sun Dancer.
End Page 10.
Page 11: Adora raises her arms and becomes Starburst She-Ra, with a long flowing cape with two wrist loops. Swift Wind becomes Crystal Swift Wind, a transparent pink plasticine version of himself. Herself? What are Swift Wind's pronouns this wave? The horse is see-through now. They have wings and a golden pleather mask, complete with unicorn horn. Light and sparkles radiate off the pair of them as they transform.
A pink caption box reads, "Adora unsheathed her Sword of Protection at once and raised it to the sky. In an instant, she and Spirit were transformed. Crystal World echoed with her powerful cry. "For the honor of Grayskull, I am She-Ra!"
End Page 11.
Page 12: "Swift Wind! Walking here in Crystal World has given you a crystal sheen!" says She-Ra, smiling as she reaches around to touch Swift Wind's face.
A pink caption box reads, "Crystal Sun Dancer, Crystal Moonbeam, She-Ra and Crystal Swift Wind glowed with an unearthly energy as they leaped toward the deep opening. With a brilliant burst of color, they broke through the Crystal Barrier and vanished—gone!" as we see all three winged horses take flight, Swift Wind carrying She-Ra, surrounded by glowing and sparkles.
"We'd better change back fast before our friends find out our secret!" says She-Ra, dismounting from Swift Wind and spreading her arms to show off her new starburst cape. Crystal Moonbeam and Crystal Sun Dancer aren't in frame, but they're still around, I promise.
End Page 12.
Page 13: A pink caption box reads, "Meanwhile, in Etheria, Bow, Glimmer and Josh had been looking high and low for Adora and Spirit. Suddenly Bow heard a rustling sound behind him." Right, Josh is here. I forgot about him already. He's a brunet now. He's holding onto his belt and kind of pouting at the panel gutter, while Glimmer stares forlornly at her staff (here a pink and blue rendition that looks more like a clock than the toy-accurate rose-with-jewel). Bow looks over his shoulder at the approaching Adora, Spirit, Crystal Sun Dancer, and Crystal Moonbeam. A mountain range towers behind her, and the few trees we can see are full of orange… bubbles? Transparent fruit? They've missed a few of the leaf portions. Sloppy work, Skip, but you were dealt a poor hand here.
"Adora! Where have you been? We've been worried," says Bow, with an uncomfortable smile.
"Oh Bow! I've been in a wonderful land called Crystal World," says Adora. These last two panels were just close-ups, but the backgrounds have some really beautiful gradients on them. It really seems like they were going for more of a 'storybook' feel from this wave on.
End Page 13.
Page 14: A lavender caption box reads, ""Tell us, Adora, who are your new friends?" Bow asked. Adora made introductions all around and Glimmer fairly gleamed. "Oh Spirit, with your crystal coat, you're more beautiful than ever!"" Josh and Arrow smile on as Glimmer and Bow greet the new, shinier version of Spirit. Adora has an arm slung around Spirit's neck, while Crystal Sun Dancer and Crystal Moonbeam watch with smiles of their own.
"It is exciting to see another land…" says Adora.
"But it's so much better to come home to my friends!" she finishes, in the traditional red used for a minicomic's 'moral'. So… I guess the moral is don't wander into interdimensional portals? Traveling might seem cool but you're going to enjoy going home way more? Who knows. Bow, Glimmer, and Josh have all shuffled places, but they're crowded around Adora now, horses nowhere in sight. Everyone's smiling contentedly.
End Page 14.

This is TheLockpickingLaywer and what I have for you today is something very interesting. As you can tell by the agonizing screams of the damned, I have recently left the mortal coil and, upon arriving at my destination, was informed that I did not qualify for residence. I was taken by an angel of the Lord to the mouth of Hell, and when the angel left, he closed this rather large red door and sealed it with a divine key. Although I’ve never seen this particular model of lock before, I’ve spent some time investigating the cylinder with this small shard of bone. By sticking it in the back of the keyway and slowly pulling it out, I can tell that this is a five-pin tumbler lock, that can easily be single-pin picked using this shed demon scale as a tensioner tool. Let’s try that right now. Alright, nothing on one. Nothing on two. Three is binding firmly, click out of that. Nothing on four. Five is binding, little click there, back to one. Once again, nothing. Two is binding, and we’ve dropped into a false set. Little click out of three. Nothing on four. Little click on one, counter-rotation on two, and we got this open. Okay folks, I think the main takeaway here is that no matter how much faith you place in a mechanism designed to ensure your safety, be it spiritual or physical, there is always a state in which it can fail. In any case, thank you for watching. Memento mori, and I’ll see you next time.

image description: two screenshots, one of an advice column and the other of a tiktok comment thread. transcript reads:
DEAR ABBY: I am a 36-year-old college dropout whose lifelong ambition was to be a physician. I have a very good job selling pharmaceutical supplies, but my heart is still in the practice of medicine. I do volunteer work at the local hospital on my time off, and people tell me I would have made a wonderful doctor. If I go back to college and get my degree, then go to medical school, do my internship and finally get into the actual practice of medicine, it will take me seven years!, But, Abby, in seven years I will be 43 years old. What do you think? -- Unfulfilled in Philly. Dear Unfulfilled: And how old will you be in seven years if you don't go to medical school?
Tiktok comment by @/harashsidhu, reading: this is gonna take 3 years. Reply by creator @/ashmanathletics: The time will pass anyways. /end I D

reasons why i did not reblog your post
it was a perfectly good post but:
i quit scrolling before i ever saw it
the version i saw was ruined by a bad follow-up
the version i saw had enough notes already
i did not vibe with it
i did not vibe with it today, when it comes around again in a week i might change my mind
i have a strict rule of never, ever reblogging videos and animated gifs
it needed an image description or a screenshot transcript but i wasn't up to writing one
i wanted to write a thoughtful reply so it's now sitting in my drafts, where it will probably stay forever. i regret this but it will happen again

https://www.tumblr.com/can-i-make-image-descriptions/704588725997404160/general-guide-for-image-descriptions?source=share
Hi! Thanks for sending this, and I imagine I can figure out how you decided to send it to my blog! (Specifically (this parenthetical is for my followers' benefit, not yours, since I know where you found me), I replied to someone on a post calling out some users' behavior in requesting image descriptions (can link the post if needed but am avoiding at present for de-escalatory reasons), explaining why I thought someone who writes image descriptions themselves would still advocate for others to write them (and why not everyone who doesn't ALWAYS provide them is necessarily ableist--they can be, of course, but there are myriad reasons someone might not). Other people in the post's replies reported also getting sent this link, so this anon is probably monitoring the replies of that post and contacting everyone who gives it a note of any type.)
I know all of the guidance the post you've linked here shares, so I thought I'd elaborate more on my personal philosophy regarding image descriptions.
...I love creating accessibility where I can manage to do so! I was a longtime contributor to community captions on YouTube before the feature was shuttered, and I do my best caption or transcript my own content or to provide alt text where my posts contain images (I know there have been a handful of times I've forgotten to do so, though, especially on the alt side of things). Heck, I'm thinking of creating a zine (as in a physical one, to distribute locally) and trying to figure out how to offer it in braille and described!
I actually recently attended a panel hosted by the Longmore Institute on Disability at SFSU where blind/low-vision/partially-sighted people (and the attendees) were given three different audio descriptions of a comic produced with different description philosophies (one described like a movie's video description track, one the artist's extremely detailed sort of description intended for editors, and one a hypothetical narrative-like (i.e. written like book prose) description). The panel was a discussion and Q&A regarding what they liked best, some thoughts on best practices, and some ideas specific to art and comics. One thing I found striking was one of the panelists thought it'd be an interesting idea if it were possible to have multiple granularities of description available to choose between, kind of like how sighted users can zoom in on something or look closer at the detail. (This is only tangentially related to your ask, but I just think it was a really cool panel so I decided to take the opportunity to gush about it. Hope that's okay. XD)
Here's what happens when an image or video is not mine, is undescribed and/or untranscripted, and it crosses my dash:
I give the first reblog I see of it, by the person I've followed, a like. That was my introduction to the post in question, after all!
I open the notes and start looking for an existing description of the image(s) in the post (or transcript, if it's a video) that I deem satisfactory. If I find one, I reblog that version. Sometimes a description exists in the notes and I deliberately avoid it because I think it's so bad as to be about as useful as not providing one. Usually in such a case there is more than one description I can choose from, thankfully. (This was not the case a few years ago, when image description was... like... less cool or something.)
If I don't find one and I'm up for doing it myself, I do it myself. (I am more likely to be up for doing it myself right now if an adequate description would be fairly simple/short. More on that later.)
If I'm not up for doing it myself and it's a video with open captions, I may be likely to still reblog it. (I do understand that this can still present inaccessible content for deafblind people especially (and also hearing blind people as well, but to a lesser extent).)
If I'm not up for doing it myself and it's a video without captions or an undescribed image, I consider whether or not I want to reblog it. Sometimes I still do. (I understand that this is bad for visual accessibility.)
Those last two bullet points sound TERRIBLE! I'm deliberately choosing inaccessibility when I led with saying I love it?! Hypocrisy!
But here's the thing: I do things this way because in the past those last two bullet points used to be "I don't reblog it until I am up for doing it myself". Yeah, I made a full-on resolution that I was going to make sure all my posts were fully accessible! Great!
...But then it started to actively be a problem, because my workflow went like this:
See post
No description on post or in notes
Draft post to describe later instead of reblogging immediately
Forget draft (my disability makes this distressingly easy to do in Tumblr's last few layouts, more on that in a sec, but you should know I currently have 3292 drafts for all sorts of reasons (mostly not description, I'd imagine), that date back to before I graduated college eight years ago)
Never reblog post
Repeat
Mutuals wonder why I never reblog things anymore
...Which started to actively make my life worse because it was basically like I wasn't on Tumblr anymore.
Which in some ways I'm sure to some sounds like the "I can excuse racism" meme:
Tumblr media
...But, like, I mean it was actively interfering with my mental health to a degree, because one axis of my online social life had basically been reduced to nothing. And it wasn't making anything more accessible, when I was completely forgetting to follow through like that.
So I stopped doing that and started letting myself reblog things again, so that I can have some connection to others on this site. XP
There are myriad reasons that someone might not be able to consistently provide image descriptions, but for me, writing an image description requires me to interact with a post in a very specific way, which is a way shared with the following activities:
Writing and timing closed captions
Writing transcripts
Actively monitoring edits and performing admin functions on the handful of wikis I admin (particularly ones without other active admins)
Probably other stuff, IDK, but it's a really weird analytical approach that I don't use for too awful much else
All of these are presently being affected by the fact I've been in disability-related burnout since February of 2020.
I don't provide image descriptions (or transcripts) as often as I used to.
I uploaded a minute-long video to YouTube last week and, as I always do with my content, manually created a caption file for it to avoid CRAPtions; even with YouTube's automatic speech to text and timing, I took twice as long to correct and accurately time the video as I used to take to do a full video of that length back when I was community contributing captions in 2019/2020.
I mostly only wiki admin in the sense that I'm not letting the wikis burn down. A few times for an especially important edit that required admin functions (or AWB to do a lot of little edits faster) I've put together the time and energy to try to get it done.
I cannot get my brain to do it. This is even though I can spend the same amount of time doing something else that I might have used to image describe, because whatever that something else is usually doesn't require the same headspace/skill I need to use to describe.
I'm not going to branch out to the other ways this burnout is affecting me (for instance, at my actual literal paid job), but the fact I've been in it for four years now should... say something. XP I'm slowly digging out, but I'm not there yet.
I'm not going to be like some others I've seen and stamp my foot and refuse to provide descriptions for anyone now because you did this. That would just make things bad for other people. I'd love to provide them more! But I'm not currently in a place where I can do that.
I do understand that by not providing one when one does not exist, I am not doing anything to make the post more accessible, and that I might be presenting some of my followers with content they are unable to access. However, my own current access needs regarding trying to nurse myself out of disability burnout are in direct conflict with being able to regularly provide them. I'd love for that to be over, so that I'm at least describing more often, even if I still occasionally don't describe things.
But in the meantime: If you care about access needs, I'd hope you care about mine, too.
Lastly:
If you meant this link to be for actual information, I regret to inform you (again) that I already know all of the information in it. I've been trying to look at more advanced resources, talk/listen to blind people discuss the topic, attend things about image description (like that panel I mentioned), because useful and understandable image description is very important to me even if it's very difficult for me to do right now, and I'd like to learn all I can. At this point, I need more advanced resources than what you've provided.
If you meant this to be some sort of "own" for the people who gave a note to the post you probably were monitoring to see my reply: [Velma voice] You stop that. Sending it to everyone, regardless of what they said on the post, gives off an air of "look, it's so easy, you're just not trying hard enough!" and makes it seem like you didn't actually read what they said in some cases (like mine, where I shared a very short version of this explanation in the replies where I basically said "image describing good, more people should do it, brain making it hard right now").
For people who agree with the cause of spreading the act of describing images so it's not all on a handful of people, that might not result in anything bad happening (though you might be preaching to the choir, i.e. telling them something they already know). But if someone's less wholeheartedly on the description train, the fact you're sending this to everyone unprompted might come off a bit condescending, and might actually backfire into having them decide not to image describe. (Which is not a course of action I agree with. I think it's silly to purposely choose inaccessibility because a few people were condescending, weird, or jerky about it to you. But it is a possibility, you may or may not be aware.)
TL;DR: Thanks for the link but it's too surface-level for me. I love providing descriptions but some things are making it hard for me right now. I want those things to get better but until they do I'm probably going to be at a lower describing rate than usual. Sorry!
EDIT: Mutual dared me to add a jokey longpost tag I was originally considering tagging this post with so it's now the first tag on the post, lol

[Video Description: a white man in a red baseball cap walks around in his home as he talks to the camera. He says “my wife is Nigerian [emoji of Nigerian flag] guys and instead of saying “no”…look what she says.”
the shot changes. He’s standing on the right half of the frame with his wife (a black woman with short coily hair wearing a yellow dress) sitting next to a window behind him while wrapping/tying something with her hands just out of frame. The man asks her “baby, do you want to go camping this weekend?” She’s silent for a bit while there’s a quick zoom on her with two question marks over her head. Then, she says “camping?! Stavro, I did not come to this life to suffer, oh. Abeg.” In the video’s captions, abeg is translated as “please”.
the shot changes again; the man is smiling as he repeats to the camera: “‘I did not come to this life to suffer.’ Why she has to suffer? I do everything.” His wife laughs lightly in the background, out of frame. “I can’t understand,” he says. His wife asks “who are you talking to??”, laughing again at the end. The man finishes the video with “please help, guys.”
end video description.]
[image description: screenshots of a comment section. Transcripts:
“Nigerians have the best replies.. a guy dropped his coffee and his response was my enemies are plotting against me. [3 crying laughing emojis]”
“I asked my dad to go camping. My dad asked me ‘why would you spend your free time in poverty’ [4 sobbing emojis]”
“Help an old unc from Nigeria load heavy grocery bags into his car, turned to me and says ‘may your son be born with the strength of a lion’, think that was him saying thanks”
“Nigerians will almost slip and say “there has been an attempt on my life”
“When I would ask my Nigerian friends how their day had been and they would respond ‘Well, we thank God anyway,’ that was my favorite way to hear it had been a rough day.”

love in the face of horror.
[image description: a three page comic about the magnus archives done in a limited pallette of reds and lime greens.
the first page consists of three panels. the first panel is of a bird's eye view of a suburban neighborhood. text on top of it is a snippet from the transcript of mag150 cul-de-sac, and it says, "I was going to die. I knew that now. / And that was when I heard it - the sound of my phone's ringtone. It was Alberto. He was calling me. / I don't know how, but the tears came even faster now as I answered, sobbing with relief to hear him yelling at me for taking so long. I tried to reply to explain but all I could manage to say to get through the shaking sobs was, 'I love you.'" beneath this panel depicts jon and martin embracing within the lonely. jon is a thin brown-skinned pakistani person and martin is a fat light-skinned mixed white and filipino man. text on top of them says, "I really loved you, you know." underneath them is more text that reads, "Gertrude needed both the purpose her mission gave her and the control her position allowed. To be here, like us, without a - a reason, without someone to ground her? She - she'd have power, but - no control. No real purpose." underneath the text are three panels. the first panel is a closeup of martin's face as he says, "So. If you say Gertrude wouldn't have been able to go on without a reason -", to which jon replies in the second panel that pictures both of them, "Yes, martin, you are my reason." martin says, "Just wanted to make you say it!" in a smaller, less detailed panel, he says, "Cool."
the second page pictures two images fading into each other. the first image is of jon reaching out to cup martin's face within a tunnel. there are three eyes half closed behind them. text around them says, "Martin, when the time comes, I need you to promise me that you won't try to stop me." "I promise." "I love you, Jon." "I love you, too." "But I'm not going to doom the world over it." "Thank you." this image fades into silhouettes of annabelle and martin inside a house. text above them says, "I was going to snatch you away. Lure you both into this web, and then take you. Drive him to despair, so that when you returned to him, bulging, and talking in a thousand tiny voices, it would drive him to a final push," to which martin replies, "And now?" annabelle says, "[Sighs] Your bond is too complicated. I couldn't drive that kind of rift between you now."
the third page has two panels layered onto a third final image. the first panel is a closeup of martin's face, tears rolling down his cheeks as jon's hand reaches out to him. text beside him says, "[Sobbing] Are you sure about this?" jon looks up at him smiling in the second panel, and he says, "No. But I love you." in the image below them martin stabs jon in his back, jon's head resting limp on his shoulder. tape and eyes can be seen spewing out of them. text above them says, "I love you too." end id.]

dream's boundaries straight from his merch discord server
Tumblr media
it is very hard to read i apologise (image id and transcript) (there was a spelling error i corrected for the sake of readability)
[image ID
black minecraft-like font on near-neon green background saying
"Dream's Boundaries (Made by Dream) My content:
- I do not mind people using my content as long as it is changed in a way to make it unique! I encourage reactions, compilations, animations, and anything else other than reupload!
- I do not mind translation channels uploading translated versions of my content whether through text or audio as long as it is not English or a language that I already have translations options for AS LONG AS they are uploaded at least 10 days after my original upload!
They must be fully translated though and have accuratie translations FROM SOMEONE THAT SPEAKS THE LANGUAGE! Original video must be credited in the intro strongly.
- I do not mind this content being monetized at all! The music I use is licensable and as long as I am credited in the first two lines of the description!
Harassment:
- I do not tolerate any form of harassment. Harassment includes lots of things but most obvious examples are death threats, doxing, spamming negative things, replying for the sake of sending hate to someone, and I'm sure a lot more.
Saying things like "die", "hope you die", and other serious things towards someone you dislike even in a "joking way" is still constituted as harassment. Remember, even though you're one person if there's hundreds of others hate is amplified
- If you do not like someone on twitter, there is a block button for a reason! we can have a much nicer and welcoming community if people chose to use it and avoid the people they dislike or disagree with rather than engaging with them in harmful ways.
- I don't care what someone has done, they never deserve to be doxed or death threatened. Using the excuse that someone has said or done ___ as an excuse for extreme harassment is not acceptable.
Shipping:
- I personally do not mind shipping with me and my friends as long as they also do not mind as well.
- I do not tolerate shipping of people that have no said explicitly that they do not mind it. I also do not tolerate shipping of minors under any circumstances. Minors means under 18 regardless of location.
- George and I are not dating and have no plans to, but we do not mind shipping as we are comfortable with that fact and have always made jokes even before Youtube. No one should really care if we don't.
Racism:
- I do not tolerate any form of racism, or hate based on someone's ideology, race, or ethnic background. At the end of the day, we all come from the same place.
- People, even myself, can make mistakes and say or do things that could be harmful to epople from other cultures. It's importabt to learn from these situations so we can be better as a community in the future!
- With the internet we are in a unique place where we can easily hear from groups that would previously go unheard. Make sure to be mindful and try to listen to people. Something that you may not think is harmful at all could be harmful and it's important to do your best to listen and learn.
- Slurs, or personal attacks based on race/ethnic background/ideology are never okay and will not be tolerated. This includes harmful jokes, so be mindful of how your words could impact others.
Fanart:
- I love fanart and encourage people to express themselves artistically! this includes through all forms of artistic avenues.
- I do not tolerate NSFW or NSFW implied art in any form of minors or people that haven't explicitly said that they don't really care.
- I do not tolerate gore art in any form unles it is of a fictional character (aka dsmp)
- I personally don't mind NSFW art, but just know that I find it funny so I'll be silently laughing and cringing at it. If you don't mind this, so be it it does not bother me haha
- I don't mind artists selling their art with interpretations of me/my character in them, as long as it is their own interpretations.
- Saying strong NSFW things in donations, replies, or elsewhere where minors can see is weirdchamp as lots of people who wouldn't want to hear/see that could see. Be mindful.
- Overall feel free to express yourself artistically as I think fanartists are the backbone to this community and I love how artistic the community is.
Other:
- Digging into content creators personal lives or pasts is not cool. Especially personal lives.
- Spamming people especially creators in replies to address something accomplishes nothing and makes it feel forced if they do end up addressing it. Let people do things on their own time, and if they don't do something the way that you want them to, simply don't watch them or support them. Don't harass them or their fans, harassment isn't cool even if you think someone "deserves it".
- Do not speak for me on boundaries other than the ones on this list or ones I have clarified in the past! Feel free to make this list more pleasing (artists *cough*) if you would like to.
- Do not get mad if I am not in something you were hoping I would be. AKA MCC, videos, streams, or other events that you thought I might appear in. Usually people put in lots of effort for these things and that can overshadow it.
I encourage the blocking of anyone knowingly violating these boundaries
Educate people first. I will personally be blocking anyone **knowingly** violating these boundaries of mine."

[Image Description: The first 10 images are a gifset of a scene from Hannibal. Margot says: "I'm not proud of myself." Will replies: "Nor should you be. You said--" Margo interrupts, looking away from him, impassive, as she says: "I lied." Will nods, and looks away. Hannibal looks at the two of them. Will turns to Hannibal and asks him: "Did you know?" Hannibal replies: "I was aware of Margot's goal of having a child. I was not aware you were the means to achieving it." Will looks away again.
The last image is an excerpt from the script. The transcription reads:
Margot Verger: I had sex with one of your patients. Will Graham. (then) How does that make you feel?
Hannibal: Curious. (off her look) Will Graham is not a lesbian.
Margot Verger: He sure made a go at it.

That said watching men get big mad cuz @jk_rowling can & did fund a specialist service for *only* women is cheering me right up.

A link to resources for writing image descriptions yourself.
The following link is a community template filled with meme image id templates:
https://docs.google.com/document/u/0/d/1COYykgomeJ5CPIPo8zhb8-Z-qUrMH1hUH4VYM3pG6bM/mobilebasic
Here are my main goals:
Encourage people to edit their posts to add image ids. Many times I see another tumblr user reblog the post with an image id, while the original post remains inaccessible. It’s rather disheartening. If I add an image ID to your post, and you appreciated it, please edit your original post to include it! That way no matter where people reblog it from, the original post remains accessible.
Point others toward wonderful resources made by the community about accessibility and image description guidelines. I get it. It’s overwhelming. My first ID, I edited it for an hour. That’s why I want to educate people. Describing fanart and complex visual art can be intimidating. However, so, so many accessibility resource bloggers compiled guides and links to teach you. I plan to tag these guides.
Introduce others to the wonders of the website onlineocr.org (link i posted). If you screenshot tumblr tags or replies or tweets or word-heavy images, this extracts those words for you. It’s the briefest and easiest type of image description. And I’ll be honest. It’s the bare minimum.
i take requests for describing fanart. however, there are some conditions.
Currently, I’m a one-man blog. My time and energy is limited, so I’ll have a limited number of slots per day/week. At times I may close the ask box entirely.
1) Consider the discord server People’s Accessibility (discord invite) your first stop. You can volunteer/request transcriptions there for free. They also have resources pinned in their guidelines.
2) Visually impaired and blind people are too of the priority list. The same applies to disabled bloggers who value image accessibility, but struggle to write themthemselves for one reason or the other. I wish to prioritize describing images for people who can’t write IDs themselves whether their vision is running out of spoons, etcetera.
3) If you’re an able-bodied person who wants to make your blog more accessible for others, I’ll describe images for you. However, I do encourage you to learn how to write your own image descriptions. Especially if you’re an artist learning how to transcribe their own work. Artists know how to best describe their own work, and it alleviates the stress of transcribers. I’ll point you towards guides.
4) That’s it! Happy accessibility.

warning post for omocat/omori
tw for discussions of shota/shotacon and general pedophilia
in 2014, omocat (the creator of the upcoming game omori) released this shirt.
Tumblr media
[image description: a light green shirt with a sketchy pink and blue drawing of a young-looking boy, with the word “SHOTA” in all caps underneath it. the artist’s signature, “OMO CAT”, is seen in the bottom right corner. end image description.]
this is already extremely disgusting, as shota refers to porn of underaged boys. but also, when called out for this, omocat didn’t apologize but instead stated this:
Tumblr media
[image description: a twitter post @/_omocat. it reads:
shota isnt exclusively erotic; i’m not a pedophile, nor an ableist, nor a scammer, nor a racist, so stop calling me those things. /end transcription.
it was posted at 1:58PM on 4/11/2014 (april eleventh twenty fourteen).
end image description.]
this is absolutely not true; even the wikipedia page for shotacon states this:
[Shotacon] refers to a genre of manga and anime wherein prepubescent or pubescent male characters are depicted in a suggestive or erotic manner, whether in the obvious role of object of attraction.
even if you were to divorce the sexual aspect from shotacon, it is undeniably an attraction to young boys. this is not excusable even if it was from 2014.
don’t reply to this post or send asks defending omocat because you will just get blocked; i simply want to spread awareness to people who do not want to support someone who has outwardly defended pedophilia.
i will put hyperlinks to archived versions of the posts in another reblog, as posts with links do not show up in tumblr tags and people need to see this. however, as of this posting date (12/22/2020, or december twenty second twenty twenty), everything in these screenshots is publicly accessible.
don’t buy omori and don’t support omocat.
edit (1/13/2021, january thirteenth twenty twenty one): i have been made aware that omocat posted an apology to her blog about a year after the shirt was released. i will include screenshots of the relevant information below, and the link to the post is available in the notes along with the wayback machine links.
Tumblr media
[image transcription:
hey everyone,
a lot of innocent people are expressing legitimate concern regarding some of my work. it goes without saying that i feel a little violated with all this false information being passed around; so i want to clear things up a bit for those who are curious or aren’t sure what to believe in.
• i made a shirt with the word “shota” on it about a year ago. at the time, it didn’t have the same definition as it does now. it was a lesser-used word, and i was under the impression that shota and shotacon meant different things— shota loosely meant “anime boy, or young-looking man” while shotacon referred to the anime boy complex. the shirt was meant to be a parody of those sometimes-ironic “boy” shirts, and was not meant to condone pedophilia in any way. i’ve never even drawn anything sexual in my entire life.
end image transcription.]
Tumblr media
[image transcription:
i’ve taken a lot of time to reflect on this situation. in my mind, “shota” still does not condone pedophilia, but the association between these words has changed since the shirt’s release. it was never my intention to be affiliated with something so harmful, and for this reason, i am going to be taking down the “shota” shirt from OMOCAT SHOP.
i want us to make peace with this and i ask for your understanding
thanks
end image transcription.]
in my opinion, this apology does not come across as genuine. for one, it took her a year to apologize and remove the shirt from the store, after she had already made a large profit off of it. furthermore, she continues to defend herself instead of owning up to her actions.
you’re free to make your own opinions on the situation, of course. my post is only to serve as a warning to those who do not want to support this kind of creator.
