Desde el interior

“Necesito un cambio”, esas palabras emergieron de entre mis necesidades, trepando rápidamente hasta la cima de mis prioridades… y es que si, hacía falta. Las paredes filtraban la humedad, las capas de moho empañaban de mugre la blanca pureza original; determinados días las goteras del techo llenaban baldes, otros, formaban charcos, dependía de mi atención a esos detalles. Todo esto tenía lugar en mi habitación, si hubiera sido en otra parte de la casa lo hubiera arreglado de inmediato, pero para mi sorpresa me encontré cómodo en el lío, podía convivir con la suciedad, me acostumbré al salpiqueo de las gotas contra el plástico del balde, con el negro terreno expandiendo su territorio fuera de los rincones, amenazando con un día atacar mi cama desde dos flancos y contaminar mis sueños. Pero podía vivir con eso mientras nadie me reprochara al respecto. La gente solía visitar el patio exterior de mi casa, no se atrevían a recorrer la propiedad, de la misma manera en que uno no ahonda en temas personales cuando conversa con alguien con quien no tiene una relación íntima tampoco se adentra a su placer en la vivienda de quien no tiene un vínculo de confianza, nos limitamos a seguir los pasos del anfitrión, pedimos permiso para tomar cosas de la casa e inclusive preguntamos donde queda el baño aunque ya hayamos pasado por frente a él anteriormente. En cambio, cuando alguno de mis amigos viene a mi hogar ya no pide permiso para agarrar cosas de la heladera, no pregunta donde esta el baño, y capaz hasta abra la puerta de mi cuarto, pero la vuelve a cerrar y dice un chiste ocultando el desorden en el humor. Saben perdonar las faltas; conocen la situación de uno, su manera de ser, y se quedan con los buenos aspectos. El problema surgió hace unos días, conocí a una chica, pero esta me despertó el interés. Con las otras mujeres que había conocido en el año no solía suceder esto, quizás por momentos, pero cada cosa que hacía ella, cada acción, cada gesto, las palabras que elegía al hablar, su tono de voz y como este cambiaba cuando sonreía, me volvían loco. A la segunda salida noté que ella empezó no solo a hablar de su apariencia (como pidiendo una opinión) sino que alababa partes del mío y criticaba otras. Ojo! No las criticaba, sino que sugería. De todas formas uno se da cuenta de que algo sucede, nota que esto puede convertirse en una relación seria, y no quedarse como encuentros aislados. Y ahí es cuando comenzó todo… El sonido del agua que caía desde el techo tomaba más cuerpo que antes, cada gota se oía independientemente, ya no era un murmullo que se mezclaba con el ruido de fondo. Ahora era un golpeteo singular, el monótono protagonista de mis noches lluviosas. Aunque apagara la luz no podía apartar mi vista de las manchas que retrucaban haciendo, a mis ojos, la oscuridad mas profunda. Esas noches tuve dificultades para conciliar el sueño, por lo que tuve que mover la cama al garaje (no guardaba el auto ahí). Supe que cada vez que salía con la chica más eran las probabilidades que tuviera que enseñarle la casa. Supe también que nadie más que yo podría dormir en un garaje y menos que menos en el cuarto. Así que puse manos a la obra, tenía que remodelar las cosas y rápido.
