Okay, I get it now. I knew the world of the Lore would suck me in and the moment we are at the Talisman Hie, I was sold. Plus this couple is great. They make each other feel! Is this a trope I didn’t know I needed? Also, even though Sebastian does just show up randomly a lot which Kaderin sometimes finds annoying, he’s not sexually pushy like Lachlain which I needed if I was going to keep up.

i love supernatural romances written in like 2009 bc they're always like, the ancient valkyries are playing wii sports to decide if they're going to put in the one disc of frasier season 4 that they own into their dvd player or watch like dirty jobs on cable while at the same time the half-vampire half-ghoul main love interest is in a hell dimension kicking ronald reagan into a lava pit while searching for the ebony shard of doomsday that he has to, ironically, plunge into the frasier fan valkyrie who is also his one true love so he can become the king of ghouls or some stupid shit

I'll be honest we need to get back to the era of hot villains who were truly just. Transparently evil. Like none of this "the secret villain was the golden-haired puppy man", none of this "it was Prince Hans all along but for adults".

The best part of the build up to Lothaire in IAD is when he travels by coffin for absolutely no reason on a river cruise and the heroic characters just go "yeah that tracks". Red eyes, trenchcoats, wears sunglasses indoors, has the full vampire fangs dripping saliva. Just transparent villainy.

I dont know if I ever talked about IAD worldbuilding with respect to mates but it's HILARIOUS so I have to now

Witches/sorceri - have no fated mates (on their end)

Elves - have no fated mate

Valkyrie - have no fated mate (on their end), can die of a broken heart though so that's fun

Lykae - recognize their mate by scent (both genders), are guided by the Instinct (psychic werewolf fortune telling), have hot full moon sex where there's biting

Vampires - heart stops upon adulthood (men) and will restart when they meet their mate. They then get a raging boner that can only be um... addressed by their mate and they kinda go insane if that doesn't happen (stop laughing)

Demons (most kinds) - male demons cannot ejaculate until the first time they're inside they're mate (stop laughing) which "breaks" the demon seal so they can... uh... uh...

They were like a work of art—or a ribbon decorating one. A fine gold chain around her tiny waist caught his attention. The unusual design appeared very old, but the metal gleamed like new when she moved.
