Okay, so, title may change and I may edit things later to flesh out some descriptions throughout the chapters.

I started this what, sometime within the last week? I'd been wanting to write a Shane x Fe!Farmer fic for some time now, finally, I'm doing it. Just writing it for funsies but posting in case anyone else may enjoy it. Of course the dog gets more screen time and while I plan on implementing many nuances of the game, I suppose I'm focusing on Shane and the farmer's relationship for now. Things will eventually shift and mold together, and I'm excited for it.

When you feel hopeless, worthless, angry, depressed, like your world is falling apart around you and everything is lost, you find the ACOTAR books. Then you listen to the Dramatized Adaptations constantly over and over just to keep on truckin' on. My headset is on nearly every moment of every day and my fiance makes fun of me for it but, whatevs.

Comparing Rhysand to Tamlin?

Okay, so. I have seen SO many people hopping on the "Rhysand is evil" and "Rhysand is the same as Tamlin" bandwagons, and I feel like I must seriously disagree. Of course they were both protective, but there are key differences that make them different. Tamlin, I don't doubt for a moment that he loved/loves Feyre. He and Rhys are just two very different people in the fact that Tamlin seems much more 'traditional', where Rhys is more progressive and supportive of Feyre's needs. Formal attire at meals, expects respect, thinks Feyre should have stayed at home and away from danger (I get that he felt she'd done enough and EARNED her time to rest). But he literally locked her in the manor and wouldn't let her accompany him for meaningful tasks. (ETA Tamlin also had some major rage issues and def needs some anger management. While he didn't outright hit her or anything--which I know sounds like that is setting the bar preeeetty low--but he did have his magical outbursts and regularly destroyed furniture and rooms, making it dangerous for anyone nearby). I'm sure he valued her more than some trophy wife but treated her as such anyway, maybe even possibly because of Rhysand's mother and sister who were killed while traveling. Who knows? He felt undermined rather than proud when Feyre helped the water wraith. Whatever his reasons, he went about it all wrong and pretty much lost everything because of it. While I was all "Yeah Feyre, F*** up Tam's life for taking you from Rhys", part of me felt bad for Tam too because the THOUGHT he was doing what was right vs just acting like an arse to be an arse. They just weren't compatible as a couple and I feel would be better as friends. Rhysand? Always gives Feyre the choice. He will give advice but ultimately does his damndest to build her up when she is feeling down. Not with gifts like painting kits and jewelry, but with space when she needs it and friendship when she needs it in whatever form that may be at the time. Instead of reading her poetry he TAUGHT HER HOW TO READ herself. And was fully on-board with her learning how to embrace and use her gifted powers. Even knowing she was his mate he was willing to let her live a life with Tam after all she'd done to prove her love for Tam, because he prioritized her happiness over his own. Feyre and Rhys can call each other on their shit and not get super offended. He wants her to stay safe but understands that she is strong and capable, far too much so to stay locked up in the house and while he was partially upset that she didn't stay inside the town house during the attack on Velaris, he was SO proud and grateful that she fought for his people in a city she'd only known for such a short time. He is prideful when she shows some backbone instead of staying meek. He sees her as his equal and made her his High Lady, while Tamlin basically scoffed at the idea of a High Lady and said they don't exist. Yeah, Rhys kept from Feyre the extent of the risk of her pregnancy with Nyx. It wasn't that he wanted her to be ignorant of the issue and go through with it, but he wanted to remain hopeful that he could find a way to solve the issue. Not get her hopes up, but not make her dread and stress, either, when there could have possibly been a way to save her. Was it a bad call? Sure. Does it throw out some red flag craziness that makes him evil? No. He is a person who didn't know what to do with such a dire situation.

Honestly I could probably go on and on about this, and feel free to discuss! I keep listening to the Dramatized version of the audiobooks and can't get enough. Just finished the first Crescent City book and can't wait to listen to the rest of those as well.

Thissssss! Recently read ACOTAR. Well, listened to them via the GraphicAudio Dramatized Adaptations (they’re SO good). I am steadily collecting the books to read as well. I love them all so much and adore Rhys and Feyre, the Inner Circle, everything. That being said, I really want to see some sort of Tamlin redemption/healing arc. If we don’t get it in the next book whenever it comes out, I’d at least love some fics, so feel free to send some recommendations my way!

Assuming the next book is Elain and Lucien, would love to see some time spent at the Spring Court and Tamlin at least beginning to bounce back from his misfortunes. Even though he made some truly piss-poor decisions, he also did some good, and Feyre and Rhys wouldn’t even have each other alive and well, if Tamlin hadn’t been around the times that he did step in to help, even if it crushed him 🤷🏼‍♀️

So, I’ve been on a Coral Island kick. My farmer gets letters from their grandparents and they’re always giving updates on “Ashley”. I believe Ashley is their cat. They’ve already mentioned Ashley and kittens and now they’ve just sent another letter with a “PS Ashley is pregnant!”

All I can think is, as an animal professional and playing a farmer who is dating Mark—who volunteers at the local animal shelter)—JFC get Ashley spayed 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Erm.. I’d say mine is a mixture of 2 and 3. So I’d never played SDV until a couple of weeks ago, I stayed at a friend’s and she had me start a new save. I’m just vibing along, meeting the townspeople, and then my farmer ran into Shane.

First impression?: “wow this guys a huge d***. Well F you too, pal.” And I presumed to talk smack about him to my friend as I continued on to other things. Then a couple of in-game days later I was like, “you know what? I’m gonna make him like me.” And I looked up what gifts he enjoyed. I spent way too much money on friggin’ beer and pizzas, but he was so adorable when I gave them to him. Even though he’d turn around and continue to be rude. I saw hope for the future.

I went home, bought the game on my pc immediately, and decided to only buy him pizzas when I didn’t have peppers, as I didn’t want to give him beer. Long story short I guess, Shane just needs all of the hugs. He and my farmer are now married. 😂💛

I too have struggled with depression, anxiety, and am starting to kick what I’d softly call an “almost-alcohol problem”. I drink too much in the evenings to help me sleep and I’m sad and irritable all the time. Please send a farmer with hugs.

Types of Shane Simps:

I decided to make this, despite not being a Shane Simp myself, due to my brain trying to figure out why people would love Shane as much as I am OBSESSED with Harvey. OwO any Shane Simps are welcome to let me know how I did, lol.

Type 1: Let's get this outta the way, especially since I am sure you Shane Simps have heard this enough, some of y'all might have a savior complex. HOWEVER... I believe it is a very small minority. Like... Maybe 10%-20% of y'all, and that is only as big as it is because I feel like these types can overlap. It's self-explanatory and I feel like we can move on to the next one.

Type 2: You relate to his struggles in some way. Be it the depression, the addiction, the horrible job, or a mixture of the three. You probably saw him and decided to try to befriend him, only to see the struggles he is going through and try to help due to relating to it. By that, you ended up falling in love with him and becoming a simp. You might see a bit of yourself in him, so seeing him grow as a person, going through the ups and downs of recovery, and getting help for his depression and addiction helps give you comfort.

Type 3: You took his rude exterior as a challenge. You want to kill this grumpy man with kindness. Seeing him slowly warm up to you probably made you fall in love with him tbh. This one is hard to describe but the idea is in my head so I hope this one comes across a bit, lol.

Type 4: You wanted to help him, had no intention of romancing him, only to end up falling in love, anyways. Basically the savior complex route, minus the savior complex, if you get it? You saw that he was struggling, and wanted to provide support. You knew well that you couldn't save or fix him, but you could give him the support he needed to gain the strength to help himself. At some part of his route, you fell in love and became a simp. With this type, you most likely admire how he became strong enough to fight his addiction and depression.

Type 5: You admire the message of his route. I feel like with each romance route, there is a bit of a message to take away from it. With Shane's, I feel like his message is that people who suffer from addiction are people, too, and deserve love and support, instead of being shamed or shunned. Regardless of what message you take away from his route, you like that message, and by extension, you love Shane as a character.

It was a chilly spring evening, late into the season. Hellena sat on the soft, cool earth next to her favorite grumpy JojaMart employee near the Cindersap Forest cliffs. The man visibly bristled at her nearness, but Hellena didn’t seem to notice nor care.

“I’m at a loss,” she’d said dejectedly.

Shane raised a brow and took another swig of his beer, asking, “What’s troubling you?” There were plenty of things that troubled him. His dead-end job. His drinking problem that he refused to acknowledge as an actual problem. His lack of attention of his goddaughter, Jas. And of course, Hellena, this new neighboring farmer who just wouldn’t leave him alone, despite his best efforts of coming off as a total asshole.

“It’s Cluckers, Marigold, and Eggsy. They’re just not happy no matter what I do.” Hellena pulled out a drink of her own and started sipping. “I don’t know what to do with them.”

Shane paused, his brows furrowing in thought. “Are these… Chickens?”

After a brief pause, the farmer nodded. “Yes, they’re my chickens. I’ve had them a little over a week and they just seem so unhappy. Every time I’ve tried to catch Marnie and ask her about it, she’s busy. I thought..” She stopped to take another drink before continuing.

“I thought maybe you’d have some insight? Living with her on her ranch and all.” Hellena glanced down at her lap.

Shane considered her question. “What is your daily routine with them?”

“They’re well-fed, watered, I give them attention every day. I keep them safely contained so nothing gets ahold of them.” She ran a hand through her hair in frustration.

“Hmm.. Contained?” Shane asked.

“Yeah. I put a fence around their coop so nothing could get inside.”

“Ahhhhh..” Shane smirked and leaned back on one of his palms.

“ ‘aaah’ what?” Asked Hellena.

“They don’t like being ‘cooped’ up”. Shane offered.

Ignoring the pun with only a little difficulty, Hellena asked to clarify “I should let them roam free? What if a coyote or something comes along?”

Shane shrugged. “Chickens like to roam, they don’t usually go far from home. I think it’d be worth a shot if nothing else seems to be working.”

Hellena considered this for a few moments and then nodded. “Alright, I’ll give it a shot.” She turned her head and met his gaze with a bright smile. “Thanks, Shane.”

He gulped, hoping she wouldn’t notice, and looked away to hide the heat rising In his cheeks. “No problem. Hope it helps. If not, ask Aunt Marnie.”

“I’ll let you know how it goes!” Hellena declared as she stood up, a little more pep in her step. “Take it easy, alright? I’ll see you later!” And with that, she began to hurry off.

Shane stared after her once she’d begun to walk away. He hoped all went well with her chickens, but wasn’t too put out about her asking him for advice in the first place. He thought he might have been, but realized he felt rather bored and empty when she’d left. “Any time,” he’d said to nobody.
