Okay, so, for all we know the iconic "I hid myself while i tried to reapair myself" line is not canon (thanks japanese direct tranlators here in Tumblr)

But still, there are hints that Dr. Light has something to do with Zero being back, thing that he didn't really knew

So, in my personal headcanon, what Zero said was a white lie to X

Zero doesn't know how he's back

Zero doesn't know what made him come back

Zero doesn't know why he came back

Zero didn't even knew what he was created for in the first place and even less what he was repaired for now, or exactly what whoever it was, DID to him

But, could he tell any of that to X?

Could he tell the person he loves the most in this world dammed by the war that they must be the heroes of, that he is not sure if he won't be a treath?

Yeah, i think he'll tell him a lot of things, but this one, one that could break his smile apart because of himself is one thing he'll never be able to tell him

So, he just doesn't tell him

He came with a poor excuse, X knew his auto-reapair system had a limit shorter than that

But the just so tired X, the X that had been fighting on his own without him for months, the X that missed him so much that he used his saber even tho he didn't knew how just to still have him by his side somehow

That X didn't care for the excuse, that X wouldn't have cared about the hows or the whys, he just...

He was just so happy that Zero was back that the didn't care

Completely separate au unrelated to the last post I swear.

Just a creetur that looks like X and likes to watch Zero sleep sometimes. And by that I mean often.

In all seriousness, I have no idea why this popped up in my brain but I'm not complaining.

Here's some silly lore:

X does not exist here. I have no idea why, feel free to come up with whatever reason you have in the comments. The only thing that ever implied his existence were some old blue prints Dr. Light made of him. This one change disrupts the timeline so badly that someone had to throw in something to fill X's spot.

Rather than swapping X out with someone like Over-1 or just a straight up new guy, whoever was assigned to maintain the timeline just decided to throw in this weirdo.

The goopy freak, who I'll call Mimic X, knows full well who X is supposed to be and acts along accordingly. For the most part, at least. They still indulge in cryptid shenanigans and adore Zero for some reason. Personality wise, they can be really off putting, but are largely sweet when not antagonized. If you make friends with Mimic X then you get free animal bones they find, cool rocks they hoard, and an unsettling amount of prolonged eye contact. That's like their love language.

Everyone else at Maverick HQ thinks they're just neurodivergent in some way and aren't freaked out by Mimic X's weird habits.

Even though most Hunters don't comment when Mimic X pulls something creppy, most do think they're strange. Zero doesn't think they're weird at all, he's not that socially experienced so Mimic X's habits are things he accepts quickly. That's actually part of the reason they latch onto Zero early on. Even though Zero accepts his cryptid best friend, one thing he can't get over is the sleep watching.

Bro can't sleep when he knows someone's watching. He gets 3 or 4 hours of sleep a day. His eye bags are designer.

One final thing, I'm referencing something specific and if you figure out what it is you get an apple fritter.

This is just a one off fanfiction.

On a slow day at HQ, Zero has decided to do some drawings to pass the time. He takes off all his armor as X came in his quarters as he sees Zero with a sketchbook. He's feels great that Zero has a non volent hobby other than training. Zero gave his thanks as he then ask X to do him a favor. X agrees to it, as a moment later X found herself in a risque pose and in a feminine girly lingerie.

Looking rather emarass with his face glowing red like a lightbulb, over doing something like this for Zero.

"Z-Zero, how long is this sketch going to be?" X ask as he feels rediculas.

"Just a few more minutes X, I would like to get the pose down." Zero stated as he looked rather turn on by this but is keeping his cool.

Just when Zero was about to get done, the alarm for a maverick Attack rang up. Without thinking about it, both X and Zero immediately go as X is still in the lingerie and Zero without his armor on.

When they meet to the situation room, they both in sync, "What's the situation Alia?" This resulted in literally all the Navigators, Signas and even Axl look dead straight at them in utter silence.

Axl then abruptly laughs as X coldly told him, "What's so funny Axl? This is freaking serious!" In a stern tone.

"Uhh, did we interrupt your guy's intimate time?" Signas states as he sounded a little bit awkward.

This statement actually gotten X and Zero to look down at their bodies as they see that X is still wearing the girly lingerie. As well as Zero not having his armor on. Resulting in them be beyond embarrassed as everyone think that they were doing something naughty and personal.
