How Vulnerable Groups are left behind in Covid
I work with difference. Covid impacts differently, and there are disparities in the pandemic, which have now become more noticeable now that all precautionary measures are lifted in the UK.
I struggle to comprehend my life now, how we got to this place, how the UK have lifted all precautionary measures and how it is possible to co-exist in a country where the vulnerable and clinically vulnerable are in their homes.
I also can’t get my head around the fact, that in the pandemic and with the current vaccines you can still catch and spread Covid, it’s not being discussed, or talked about anymore. I still can’t see how in the longer-term this can be sustained, without there having to be a rethink on whether some physical measures are reintroduced.
Whilst it is important to get back into our lives, it should have been equally available to all. We’re talking about the pandemic, and societies in which people are vulnerable. (Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) There is no UK government plan for the vulnerable.
By the UK PM not continuing to implement the physical precautionary measures that can keep vulnerable groups safe in Covid, he has changed the course of history, which means the vulnerable are now locked in their homes. Ending the test and trace system has affected everyone, but it is putting the vulnerable, more in harm's way, if they catch Covid.
Requiring mask wearing in public places and public transport, can help everyone go about their lives safely without catching Covid. The reality is that the choice to lift all restrictions made by the PM of the UK has left society divided with some groups less equal than others. Being vulnerable there are times when I struggle with that concept, more than other times.
The night times are the worst and I try to reconcile again. I go to bed a little more settled, then it hits me, the house has become my institution, and I try to reconcile once more.
I need to start looking and thinking differently about this.

JUST IN:COVID-19 vaccine can’t kill, says PTF
Tumblr media
Executive of Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 pandemic and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Mr. Supervisor Mustapha has exposed intimations that the antibody for the infection was created to execute Africans.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Mustapha talked on Tuesday at the introduction of the State House Clinic Special Care Center (COVID-19 Isolation Center), Abuja.
Excusing the paranoid notions concerning the immunizations, Mustapha said: ”I don’t really accept that anybody will burn through billions of dollars in assembling antibodies to murder us in Africa.”
As indicated by an assertion gave by Deputy Director of Information in the State House, Attah Esa, the SGF talked on the viability and security of COVID-19 immunizations to be obtained for Nigeria.
He added that the Federal Government would continue to urge Nigerians to get immunized when the opportunity arrives, on the grounds that ”the antibodies are protected, compelling and for our advantage”.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“We will allure and disclose to our kin that on the off chance that you don’t take the antibody, the risk of falling frightfully wiped out and at last passing on is there.
”We will be obtuse to them that in the event that you don’t take the COVID-19 antibody, you will most likely be unable to go anyplace on the planet very soon. In any event, when you need to proceed to play out your otherworldly commitment, that will be exposed to your COVID-19 status,” he said.
On the new office being introduced, Mustapha indicated that a testing research center for the infection would before long be set up at the State House Clinic.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
He said the Buhari-drove organization was utilizing the difficulties acted by the pandemic like a chance to change Nigeria’s wellbeing foundation.
He praised President Muhammadu Buhari for endorsing assets for new wellbeing foundation, taking note of that through the PTF, the 2021 spending plan made arrangement for the foundation of in any event one oxygen creation plant in the conditions of the Federation just as a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) office.
The SGF said: ”From only two atomic research facilities for the testing of COVID-19 in Nigeria, we currently have more than 100 sub-atomic labs, public and private, across the 36 conditions of the Federation.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“I need to praise the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Tijjani Umar and the State House the executives under whose administration this delightful structure is being charged.
“I’m sure that when the Minister of Health visits, whatever he concludes, I can give you my assertion that we will put a lab for testing or a PCR office in State House Clinic. This should be our need.
“I will likewise address the Director-General of Nigeria Center for Disease Control, who has the essential duty of resourcing, setting up and authorizing research facilities since we need it here.”
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Gambari, who portrayed the Permanent Secretary, State House as ”tireless,” noticed that the thought for the exceptional focus was imagined and finished inside 10 weeks.
”This is the State House Clinic and from multiple points of view it ought to be the Center of Excellence and individuals ought to have the option to get the best from this office,” he said.
Gambari engaged Nigerians to consent to COVID-19 non-drug intercessions, including the wearing of face covers, washing of hands, social removing, evasion of enormous assemblies and unimportant voyages.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
”It might intrigue you to realize that since my arrangement into this situation in May 2020, I have not been to Ilorin, Kwara State, my old neighborhood.
”Shockingly, the non-drug mediation isn’t being paid attention to there. The individuals in Ilorin and upwards think COVID-19 is a rich-man and influential individuals sickness.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
”However, as Mr. President regularly says, COVID-19 is a respecter of no one. Rich and poor, amazing or feeble, we all should react to this viably.
”For me who sees the President ordinarily in a day, I need to assume liability and if that includes quitting any pretense of going to the town of my introduction to the world, so be it.”
The Chief of Staff likewise encouraged Nigerians to accept the COVID-19 antibody, adding that Nigerians should take the necessary steps to secure themselves.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
”The Latin says mens sana in corpore sano, a sound psyche in a solid body. To keep your body sound, you must have a solid psyche and a solid brain is the thing that is important to keep you and your family protected,” he said.
The Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude toward the SGF and the Chief of Staff for the help towards overhauling the norm of the facility.

Covid-19′s Impact on Mental Health
Covid-19 is a medical phenomenon that has affected individuals and society. It has also caused anxiety, stigma, anxiety, stress, and xenophobia.
In terms of behaviour as a unit of community or society has had a marked effect on the dynamics of Covid, degree of flow, level of severity and after affects. We are not the same people we were going into Covid.
Covid doesn’t just affect our physical health, but its affects are widespread throughout many aspects of our lives. It affects us all and has a significant impact on our mental and emotional health, causing anxiety and stress and impacting the way we interact in our daily lives.
Quarantine and self‐isolation have adversely affected our mental health. In the early months of Covid and lockdown a review published in The Lancet said the separation from family, loss of freedom, boredom, and uncertainty has caused a deterioration in mental health. (Source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov)
The pandemic is unprecedented and as a result, both children and adults have experienced a wide range of emotions because of being placed in a situation, or an environment that can be potentially damaging to their health.
To overcome this, measures are required at individual and societal levels. With the right measures in place from governments we can feel more comfortable. Instead, with nothing but confusion, even if mental health issues weren’t there, or they weren’t obvious, they will be now.
Conclusion
Mental health is a hard one to call, because not everyone will recognise or know they are dealing with mental health issues. Having lived with mental health issues, I know what my triggers are.
Anxiety, depression, bipolar, mood swings and OCD are all mental health issues that if not dealt with can get worse. Allowing each of us to thrive Covid and in our own way, is what is needed here, but we also need to have good sensible choices in place, to allow us to thrive.
All governments are instrumental here, because without good choices being made, we will struggle and that is what is happening here. But I still believe in Covid, we can pull back and change with new attitudes moving forward.
Now in the UK with restrictions lifted, it is important we allow each other to adjust and live with Covid, particularly for those who are high risk and/or are highly nervous.
I know that with patience, tolerance and understanding of the different groups, we can all thrive. It’s important to work together, so that we may all thrive.

What is an Outbreak, Epidemic And Pandemic inCovid-19
Tumblr media
Coronavirus or the Covid-19 has emerged as a world wide diseases that has been affect people all over the globe the virus seems to transmit from one region to another and has been declare a global pandemic by the World Health Organization, the world seems to almost shut down.
As it can be well sighted that an epidemic broke out in Sudan in 1997. Similarly the HIV ,malaria and other diseases are also termed as an epidemic.
Something which is quite different from Ebola outbreaks in the Republic of Congo or cholera outbreaks
So what is an pandemic, an epidemic and an outbreak?
Tumblr media
• OUTBREAK: An outbreak is a sudden arrival of a disease in a concentrated geological area .
Epidemiologically it is restricted to a the time and geographical location of an outbreak is restricted. Four linked cases of a rare infectious disease may be sufficient to constitute an outbreak. Outbreaks, a term normally only used for infectious diseases, as well as diseases with an environmental origin, such as a water or foodborne disease. They may affect a region in a country or a group of countries.
Examples may range from things as trivial as influenza to cholera.
• EPIDEMIC : An epidemic is a widespread occurrence of an infectious disease in a community at a particular time. In meningococcal infections, an attack rate in excess of 15 cases per 100,000 people for two consecutive weeks is considered an epidemic. It may be caused by a change in the climate or ecology which harmful affects the host population.
• PANDEMIC: A pandemic is an epidemic occurring on a scale that crosses international boundaries, usually affecting people on a worldwide scale A disease or condition is not a pandemic merely because it is widespread or kills many people; it must also be infectious. For instance, cancer is responsible for many deaths but is not considered a pandemic because the disease is neither infectious nor contagious.
Tumblr media
Now how are these three terms different?
1. Talking in terms of scale an, an outbreak is the smallest amongst the three, this is followed by an epidemic and then a pandemic
2. Outbreaks are limited to a geographical area and originate from the conditions and affect the hosts of that area whereas the reach of an epidemic or a pandemic is much more widely spread.
3. The death rate hikes up .
The WHO’s pandemic alert system ranges from Phase 1 (a low risk) to Phase 6 (a full pandemic):
Phase 1: A virus in animals has caused no known infections in humans.
Phase 2: An animal virus has caused infection in humans.
Phase 3: There are scattered cases or small clusters of disease in humans. If the illness is spreading from human to human, it’s not broad enough to cause community-level outbreaks.
Phase 4: The disease is spreading from person to person with confirmed outbreaks at the community level.
Phase 5: The disease is spreading between humans in more than one country of one of the WHO regions.
Phase 6: At least one more country, in a different region from Phase 5, has community-level outbreaks.
In early 2020, after a December 2019 outbreak in China, the World Health Organization identified SARS-CoV-2 as a new type of coronavirus. The outbreak quickly spread around the world.
COVID-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 that can trigger what doctors call a respiratory tract infection. It can affect your upper respiratory tract (sinuses, nose, and throat) or lower respiratory tract (windpipe and lungs).
It spreads the same way other coronaviruses do, mainly through person-to-person contact. Infections range from mild to deadly.
SARS-CoV-2 is one of seven types of coronavirus, including the ones that cause severe diseases like Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS) and sudden acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). The other coronaviruses cause most of the colds that affect us during the year but aren’t a serious threat for otherwise healthy people.
Tumblr media
The virus affects different people differently, they may either need to self quarantine or the disease my lead to hospitalization;
Most common symptoms:
1. fever
2. dry cough
3. tiredness
Less common symptoms:
1. aches and pains
2. sore throat
3. diarrhoea
4. conjunctivitis
5. headache
6. loss of taste or smell
7. a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes
Tumblr media
The prevention of Corona virus is simple but it should be rigidly followed in order to stop the spread of the To prevent the spread of COVID-19:
1. Clean your hands often. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.
2. Maintain a safe distance from anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
3. Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
4. Cover your nose and mouth with your bent elbow or a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
5. Stay home if you feel unwell.
6. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical attention. Call in advance.
7. Follow the directions of your local health authority.

Salon incovidence
Okay, personal story time.
My mom and I are planning my little sister a Quincenera party and we wanted to cut our hair. We schedule an appointment for today, at 3:00 but things fell through and the salon called my mom and said “we have to resechedule”
Well dang it. We rescheduled for 1:00pm but than our plans fell through when my family from Cali dropped by today.
So we called and tried to reschedule. The lady said there was only two slots, at different times and we wouldn’t do it together at the same time. So after much back and forth, my mom is getting mad and I just said “yeah let’s cancel it”
“Okay but the next time you come in, we would have to charge you a twenty dollar incovidence fee.”
What?! An incovidence fee, so the salon changed our time by saying that instead of 3:00 which we agreed upon, that they changed it to 1:00 instead. So! The salon “incovidence” us! And they wanted “us” to pay a fee?
Oh no no no
My mom took over, and geez it wasn’t pretty. She told a lady that she won’t charge us because we won’t be coming back. And I’m pretty sure they don’t have our card. So they can’t really charge us.
In the end, when going to a salon, make sure it’s the right one.

Managing Life at Home in the Pandemic
The definition of institution: ‘The act of instituting.’ – thefreedictionary.com
In the pandemic, for those who are already institutionalised, they have never made it out of those institutions because of the pandemic.
Like me, there are probably hundreds of thousands others still living in our own institutions in the pandemic. Those like myself with a disability two and a half years into Covid and we’re still home. With all restrictions lifted in the UK what choice do we have, but to impose every day lockdowns?
The UK government who have disbanded with all restrictions have made those who are high risk and vulnerable more restricted. Realistically I am home, and being high risk, I am left with no choice but to wear a mask and visor, if I do manage to get out, just so I can leave the house. Politicians aren’t taking into consideration our individual needs, instead we’re being treated like everyone else and that is inappropriate.
My life has changed irrevocably. I’m living in a modern world, in a world where I am literally institutionalised, institutionalised because I live with a disability. Each day is a mental struggle, each day is a repeat of the day before and I struggle to reconcile.
If it wasn’t for my writing, what would I do? My home has become a confinement rather than a home and while UK politicians are in denial that the pandemic still exists, people with a disability are confined to their homes.

Ignoring Mental Health in Covid-19
In Covid-19 we’re not living in the way we used to. We’re reminded every day by government decisions, that we need to continue to be careful, to be mindful of a virus that we can’t see that has claimed millions of lives.
The care-free days where you could go out and not think about your mental or physical health are long gone. Those days are now replaced with us having to be mindful, to know that we can get caught off guard.
Tripple-jabbed
Triple-jabbed doesn’t means you’re safe or 100% protected and you can still catch and spread Covid. it simply means you need to be mindful on how you choose to go about your life. Although it means you have some protection, the protection it gives, continues to deplete through the days and months ahead, until your next jab.
I talk about mental health more than I ever have on my blog. Having dealt with mental health issues since I was a child, I know how mental health goes. Although 2 years in and life is somewhat orderly now, many may still be living in fight or flight mode.
Fight or flight mode, is a response that refers to a physiological reaction that occurs when something terrifying happens, either physically or mentally. It’s hard not to be mentally, emotionally or physically affected by Covid on some level.
Be open and honest
Be open and honest about how you feel, how you’re coping. Covid has touched and continues to touch and affect many lives. The key is very much for to be open and honest. We’re closed and shut off. It’s now business as usual as we’re choosing not to talk about mental health.
For others they may feel anxious because they know what is happening is affecting them, but they’re not always able to articulate how they feel. Through media reports, it has been suggested, we have become more closed, shut off, separate and divided. I believe that to be true.
The human species is changed
The human species is completely changed and we’re ignoring mental health at our peril. This is exactly the time we need to be dealing with our mental health and yet it is largely ignored.
Deal with your mental health
If you are interested in dealing with your mental health, my books make for perfect reading. They both address mental health.

Changing Perceptions in Covid-19
Covid-19 has not only changed us and the world, but it has changed how we think and feel about everything. It has highlighted our morality.
Moving forward, it would be prudent for us to change our priorities and purpose, so that we are all able to fit into our changing world.
Setting goals
To set goals we need self-understanding and self-reflection helps with self-understanding. We can do more self-reflection. Before Covid-19, we were more in sync with our thoughts and feelings.
In Covid-19, it is important to step back, define who we are, and decide who and what we would like to become.
Self-understanding
With self-understanding we can open ourselves up to the insights that can transform our life, we can find more joy and happiness in our life.
There are things that we should deal with, things that we have perhaps forgotten about or put on the back burner, things that have hurt us that we’re choosing to ignore, but there are also things that continue to bring us joy, such as an engagement, a birth, a graduation.
Moving forward, it is important to make sure that the things that have hurt us, don’t override the things that we find joy in.
Covid-19 and Morality
When something like a pandemic happens, and we come face to face with our morality, our purpose and priorities can change and that’s okay. It has to be, this is where we’re at, we can’t change what has happened, but we can change our perceptions, by becoming more present, more positive and more proactive.
Making a positive difference
It is important to think about how we can make a positive slant on our lives, for ourselves, and our loved ones. Covid-19 isn’t something that just affects us, it’s something the world deals with and that means changing the way we live our lives, our lifestyles.
Covid-19 is having a massive bearing on climate change, sustainability, the natural world, all of which the human species is responsible for. It’s something we need to think about.
By letting go of the things that have the potential to harm us, we are making room for the priorities that can help us tap into our sense of purpose moving forward. In Covid-19 that statement has never been so true and urgent.
It is important to act now.
