no ai generated content will ever compare to the absolutely cartoonishly evil plot to cut down trees to prevent workers from striking to get livable wage.

When I think about how far back the Hays Code put us both artistically and in progressive societal ideals I get so worked up. And then I remember that there are younger people are basically arguing to do it all again and I work myself up some more.

It's so much fun that after all the 'hey, make sure to give SAG-AFTRA the same level of support you guys gave WGA during their strikes' that SAG-AFTRA ended up leaping on the first chance to suckle on that misshapen AI teat.
A Voice Actor's Union would be so fucking nice right now...

Spoilers for new season of disenchantment sort of idk, just covering my back here incase, go watch the season
PLEASE tell my I'm not the only person frustrated/disappointed by the way disenchantment ended, it felt like they just gave up I guess... Idk, kind of like a screw you sort of thing... And like part of me feels it's probably directed towards Netflix but it just kind of sucks that we're the ones who have to face being disappointed.
Also I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the strikes have affected it?
All in all it was a happy ending but I just didn't feel satisfied, like there were so many unanswered questions and lore that they could have expanded on, and at times I genuinely though that's what they were going to do. Also this is not hate to the creators really, it gives the feel of they did the best with what they had.
I did like though that they had the 'Baby Elves' in the credits.

So, I just finished the third, and apparently last, DLC for Samurai Remnant. I got every trophy, leveled up every skill, and of course the Platinum on the OG game way back. So, a few thoughts now that we're now at the end of update cycle. I hope the team that made this game knows they've made something great. Honestly, genuinely. I hope they know that they made something that, for all of its shortcomings, has stuck in my mind since it came out last September. FSR has a great story, fascinating characters, and simple but very fun combat. It has an amazing Main Character in Iori that just gets more and more interesting with every playthrough you do and route you take. Saber, and their relationship with Iori, is pretty much like 90% of the appeal because you just want to see them bounce off each other and grow. Its amazing.
And the DLC! Not a single dud! Just three bite sized chunks of more FSR, each with a little twist, and none of them I could predict. As disappointed as I am at no Mini-Nobu invasion of Edo, I think this shows that the Koei-Tec team honestly just made stuff they thought would be cool and fun. And, surprise surprise, it turned out to be cool and fun.
I'm really looking forward to whatever this team comes up with next, they've earned the chance to make something bigger afte this.

i am so fucking close to quitting :) i just don't understand how they can keep doing this :) it's not remotely logical, let alone fair to the kids or staff in my classroom :)
every single time i try to ask for help i either get entirely dismissed or get so much attitude for daring to speak up :) all from people who have no fucking idea what they're talking about :)
i really despise being angry :) but there's so much to be angry about for the sake of my kids :) i genuinely only care about them getting what they need and deserve :) but i'm having to fight so hard for any single thing i try to ask for that it's just so far beyond exhausting :)

PSA About AI in the news
Okay, so. In my professional life, I’m a fact-checker for a news organization. I get an email that an article has been completed, and it takes me a few hours to go through every paragraph to check the claims and make sure it’s both accurate and not plagiarized.
Recently, I was asked to be part of a “new program” at my organization. This program would involve making listicles/fluff pieces purely from AI, and I would be in charge of fact-checking those articles.
I turned them down. I equivocated for a minute, because I don’t think AI articles should be going out without fact-checking, but I also didn’t want to be the fact-checker that allows them to stop hiring writers.
Now, I’m not getting nearly as much work as I used to. That’s okay. I’m lucky enough to be in a financial place that I can take that stand. But not everyone else in the industry can do that.
So, get ready to see AI-generated news stories. And get ready to scrutinize every one of those stories, because I doubt that every organization is going to care as much as mine did about putting those articles through a thorough fact check.
And the worst part? The worst part is that these articles, as far as I can see, are going to require just as much work on the backend as they would have taken to write in the first place. The human writers I worked with cited their sources, for one thing, which made fact-checking much easier. Sure, I had to go sleuthing for anything they didn’t source, and I had to get on to more than one writer for thinking rewording is the same as not-plagiarizing, but I could find where all their ideas were coming from. With AI, that’s not the case. A good fact-checker is going to be working twice as hard to avoid plagiarism when every single sentence could be pulled from a different place.
Check the bylines of your news artiicles is what I’m saying. Misinformation and Disinformation is already a problem.
Also, screw everyone who thinks automating creativity is anything less than dystopian.

As someone who just graduated in May with the intention of going into screenwriting as a profession, it’s been so cool to watch the strike unfold. It’s kind of like “huh. That’s my future union. Fuck yeah.”
