I love how expressive Lake is. They're always using unnecessarily big gestures and waving their hands around.

At first I thought it was just ironic because it doesn't suit the way they look at all. Lake looks like they should be reserved. Like they're a closed-off person who doesn't express their emotions. And maybe Lake would've been if they had been raised like a normal kid!

But Lake hasn't had a choice their entire life. It was them always mimicking Tulip and doing what Tulip wanted to do. They're learning what it's like to move when they talk, to express themselves the way they want to! Learning to express themselves at all because Lake has never known how to express themselves. Just that they wanted to.

I feel like being a reflection is so integral to how Lake carries themselves. I really love aus and alternate stories, but nothing explains Lake and all their quirks quite like canon does.

so like, um, did simon kill hazel?

my theory is: grace was trapped in her memories for at least three months between episode 9 & 10, due to simon's hair length and the fact that her memory-tape was all gross (in there for longer than should have been).

plus simon was super resentful, so it would have made sense for his obsession to lead him to track down hazel. and his number was even higher than amelia's when grace found him again. to get a number that high he must've done some pretty dubious shit given that killing denizens that were light and masks and stuff in the previous episodes only got their numbers a little higher...

so i imagine that he must've done something horrible and that maybe it was killing hazel? he knew the turtle cars were being quarantined toward the back... so he could have used all that time to track her down. he was also very resentful... idk man, book 3 was very tragic and sad.
