Long post! HotGuy being a manipulative bitch, and theories behind it!
I got so many words for HotGuy in the latest DDVAU chapter, but something I kinda want to point out is that yes, he IS an asshole, it has a something behind it. Scar was Grian's coworker for years, and Grian had always been a reliable figure for Scar in civilian life. It was only recently where HotGuy got to know Grian, that Grian had showed a different side as a ACAB believer. HotGuy got to saw the 'real' version of Grian, showing, at least to him, that Grian will only listen to power.
Of course, we it's even more present in Mother Spore. Grian had let Scar go, but after realizing the fungus get destroyed by fire, with Grian's wings still there afterwards, Grian gets outed after hiding it for 32 years. Yet, Scar still cares for Grian.
It's fucked up, because he is manipulating Grian as HotGuy, but Scar cares for Grian and HG can't let that connection be made.
Scar was scared for Grian, Scar was hurt that Grian hid that, Scar felt regret for injuring Grian during the battle. But, Grian is the Grian he knew. The man that helped grade his student's homework is a man who was an unregistered mutant, and attacked the school under the influence of a mushroom. If Grian was a regular human like his registry said, the whole situation could've ended differently.
HotGuy needs information, and clearly HotGuy gets information that Scar doesn't. Beside being the head of the military, HotGuy got more out of Grian the Scar ever has.
HotGuy makes it a point to say he not impressed with Grian's secret, but Scar was wondering why he never noticed it. HotGuy's face was never shown again after the battle in pt3, the visor being filled in to make that distinction clear. He could've talked to Grian behind cell walls, but he cares. Though, between the job that gives him everything, compared to a friend who in his eyes lied to him? Well, a drastic emotion change seems on par. Of course, this doesn't make the HG better. He still blackmailed Grian, and was using society's social prejudices against the man who just got out of a fucking coma, but his job is more important. HotGuy was shocked when he learned the Spore moved towards Grian, as previously he thought Grian was the one controlling the spores. He had a suspicion, but nothing concrete until Grian came forward with information. Even the labs with Cub have nothing to go off of, and with Grian being the only one who could offer ANY clarity at all, Grian holds the key to solving the case.
Of course, HotGuy can't ever let Grian feel in control. He needs Grian to come forward with any information available, and doesn't want Grian to go off and ruin it. He needs Grian to be under him. So he lied to the public and said the wings were grown after the attack, and is using Grian's life long secret to make sure the other doesn't move from under him. It's horrendous, I hate that I love it. There is still so much we don't know, like if HotGuy knows Grian is also a witch or does he think it was part of the shrooms, or if HotGuy is putting the pieces together and thinking Grian is CuteGuy, but alas we must wait for the next chapter. :>

Have you caught up on JoongEst interaction? Est left a comment "HBD bro" to Joong bd post and Joong responded by saying "I'm happy. Thank you." Few days later, Joong also liked Est's post.
There are WILD theories going on, apparently some ghostshipping accounts claiming Joong & Est are secretly dating because they have matching rings, same clothes, etc. and lovestragram, and Joong changing his bio to #rest means Est because "R" is Rivipon (Est's name) + "est" = "Est" and Est's comment being the only one Joong responded with words while others being just a heart.
I don't even know if I'm supposed to take this seriously because I've seen bl actors wearing same clothes and accessories within their group of close friends so many times, and this argument being used in every dating rumor just doesn't hold enough substance for me. I need some actual stuff like when MewTul was being rumored to be bfs like helping the other's sibling do homework while the other one is not even around. Anyway, the most interesting part for me was Daou did NOT wish Joong hbd. So before Est was the one who blocked Joong while Daou never unfollowed Joong, and now Est and Joong followed back each other, commented and liked posts and Daou is out of the picture. And Est was still hanging out with Daou like yesterday, so.
You said capitalism in your post when they followed back and I think I feel the same way since Daou is not part of LOL but Est is. I'm genuinely wondering where this would go once LOL preparation starts.
There is no ethical consumption under capitalism, so if the lure of more money is what gets me the return of Hot Girl Summer, then so be it!
Tumblr media
If the Twitter mafia wants to think that Est wrote two O's on Joong's birthday post because he wanted to write "boo" instead "bro," I support it because Bangkok is experiencing excessive heat with its ridiculous humidity, and people are going to start acting up because they are cranky, so the more love we have, the better.
Tumblr media
But I think the mafia could come up with a better reasoning for Joong only responding to Est with words when he responded to everyone else with ❤ like pettiness: I'm happy (despite the issues you caused over the last few months). <- (PERIOD?!) Thank you (for nothing!). <- (ANOTHER PERIOD?! This is hostile!)
Tumblr media
But my favorite has to be the "#rest" theory because that would make him the Taylor Alison Swift of BL Land playing 4D chess when my ass is just trying to play checkers.
Tumblr media
Either way, I'm excited to see what is planned for LOL Fest because Joong has already stated he wants to see William and Est perform (as if he won't be performing with them! Can't trick me twice, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo!). Thanks, different anon, for that link.
Tumblr media
If it's genuine, that's great, but if it's Joong putting his streaming media production degree to use, so he can continue to cash those checks, even better! Just because he no longer has a frog to feed does not mean he doesn't have bills to pay. RIP, Edward.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So unlike some other fans *cough* Ohm *cough* I'm going to support my chismoso in collecting his bahts and his bag like a young Lucille Bluth, and if May 19 rolls around and they are back to blocking each other, then I hope he convinces Khaotung and First to be the new Hot Girls of the Summer.
Tumblr media
Thank you for this information, and I hope you have the exact day you want with little treats sprinkled in.

More No Storm but Vertin has a Time Traveling Arcanum Content
Inaccurately Named Modern AU
* Apeiron
I think with like knowledge and math becoming more accessible sooo many people in Apeiron would go to the outside world to share their knowledge because 77 (37s mom) showed that even the people most faithful to their school of thought are interested in calculation machines. Give them Mathway.com and people would lose their minds.
6 would be a professional gamer. In fact he’d take so well to modern society that he’d be one of those people thriving in the 2020 lockdown and being away from Apeiron. Afterwards he’d also recover fast and put daily walks into his schedule or something cause he knows how badly his physical would’ve gotten. 6 would have an Instagram that’s the weirdest thing ever. People use it as inspiration for arg characters because he unintentionally posts with the vibe of someone extremely inhuman, and even though with the internet most humans would be aware of nonhuman arcanist they’d still be like what… There’s several video essays breaking down theories on who or what he might be. On the other side his posts are all pictures of objects he sees on daily walks that he sees have interesting dimensions to them or placement in a scene. The issue is that he doesn’t give any preamble or context to his math like 210 who wants to share math with the world would, or 37 who genuinely wants to teach, he just drops it in the caption and closes the app. He’d also have a YouTube explaining how he wins matches with others and insane speedrun content and how he beats games in under three minutes in extremely stupid calculations and exploits. His uploads are once in a blue moon but he’s a really popular faceless YouTuber (unlike 37 he reads comments and thinks about the questions he gets a lot, and even answers them in other videos). Also his like daily wanderings until he wants to go back home and risk interaction with others.
37 would get ahold of the internet like fish to water. She’d be an early YouTuber on 6’s recommendation and get super popular without realizing it. Her upload schedule is a “think of something start recording it and post with little to no editing” kinda style that for her ends up being 6-12 videos per week. 37 probably wouldn’t even realize there’s a comment section but Sophia knows it. Sometimes she’ll relay the comments to her from fans if they’re questions or constructive, but she mostly keeps them for herself because she’s happy 37 is branching out even if she isn’t entirely meaning too. I think 37’s content is a personality type. She’s giving constructive lessons that are informative but her personality and voice made her gain an audience mostly there to listen to her as background noise while she does homework. She does have a very loyal core audience of economists and radiologists since the topic she circles back around to the most is patterns in the weather and how they can be applied to daily life. Her most viewed video would be a super complicated explanation on how to predict when the next storm will happen in your area, and the top comment is a link to a website where someone made it into a calculator (it works with like a 5% chance of error). Also fun fact Vertin tried to use it once and the website was down for a week after she tried it. Sophia would have more kids centered content. Her follower base would mostly be parents who sit their kids in front of an iPad during work, but heavily monitoring their internet use and want them to watch content that’s good for them. She’d be faceless but unintentionally blow up super hard for story reading content, and her process for making up original stories. Afterwards she’d take a huge social media break entirely, only helping 37 with hers before slowly going back to her usual audiobook content with locked comments.
On that note, it’s slightlyyyy canon based, but I also think 210 would become good friends with Sweetheart after the island opened up and he reached out to her through Pandora to be their liaison. They’d do a ton of promotions and fashion statements. 210 already has an established interest in beauty, arts, and how they tie to math, and Sweetheart as a person who’s mathematically perfect would be his best excuse to study arts. Then Sweetheart would enjoy the company of any asexual, especially if they’re good for her image, and 210 is genuinely there to vibe and enjoy the beauty of the world. I also feel like he’d have one of those instagrams where he’s super popular for his looks but vast majority of his posts are sky pics and pictures of flora he sees.
I think in the story Sweetheart and Pandora are already on pretty good terms but I think in a Modern!Twist AU Pandora would be even more active in her writing. I think she’d have a small but famous journalism company where she employs only those she deems have a fresh perspective in a way she can’t supply. I talk about it in my other post, but Marcus interns there after getting an associates degree journalism during her dual enrollment and finishing Highschool. 210 and her run top series in UTTU for numbers and art analysis in a way people hadn’t thought of before, and Marcus runs a deep dive on historical spaces and the hidden stories within them.
UTTU would sometimes have interview segments where guest slots of an employee’s choosing (approved of by Pandora) will get a special feature. Windsong is the most reoccurring interviewee alongside Vila for research papers in ley lines and ecosystem observations respectively. Both are very popular features every time due to how they provide perspective on Marcus’ and 210’s segments.

Friendly neighborhood vigilante. Chapter 25
BatmanxDP crossover. JasonxJazz
[Read on AO3] [Read on FF.net]
Based on this post
First chapter || << Previous chapter || Next chapter >>
---
“So you are saying that the Infinite Realms’ government is organized like a dungeons and dragons party?”
Danny snorted and patted Tim’s shoulder. “Jazz’s idea, actually.”
From where she was quietly talking with Bruce, Jazz huffed. “I never said it was a dungeons and dragons party. I only suggested the organization that fit our strengths better.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Danny made a dismissive gesture with his hand. “Potato, potahto.”
Jazz rolled her eyes, but went back to her discussion.
The group was walking towards the gardens, where a light lunch was served. Time went by as the Waynes asked anything and everything about the Realms and their rulers, now that there were no more secrets between them. They talked about Sam and Tucker and Valerie and even about Danielle, her origins and how she joined the team included.
The Fenton siblings enjoyed oversharing in a way that felt weird to the vigilantes, so used to hiding and concealing their thoughts all the time. Now that they were more comfortable, Danny and Jazz didn’t hesitate to act more inhuman around them, with the younger sibling floating when he got excited as if it was the more normal reaction.
It reminded Bruce of his colleagues in the Watchtower break room goofing around and using their powers for the stupidest reasons.
When Tim rejoined them, this time alone, he was more annoyed about losing the bet than missing the ghost royalty status reveal. Danny thought that was the funniest thing, and gladly started a new stream of oversharing information about Jazz’s princess status and all the titles she held, ignoring his sister’s attempts at silencing him.
They didn’t even notice lunch time approaching until Alfred reminded everyone in the house that they had to eat — yes, even their inhuman guests. The last part was added with a pointed glare and a short nod before the man walked away.
So now they were making their way to lunch, which was served outside given the nice weather despite being way into fall, chatting about Team Phantom and their roles in detail.
“So Sam is like the Barbarian of the team?” Tim pressed on. “And Tucker is the Artificer.”
Jazz huffed again.
“We are not—”
“Actually, is not that far from the truth,” Danny chuckled, “but not exactly just that. All of us are at least trained in one main duty and act as a backup for someone else. That guarantees that if one of us has to leave, nothing will be left unattended.”
“Like with Jazz being here.”
He nodded. “Jazz helped Tucker with all the record keeping and research in magical theory, as well as diplomacy and ghost law studies. Valerie helped Jazz with her main duties, and so on and so forth.”
“Magical theory?” Jason asked, one eyebrow arched. “Ghost law?”
“Sounds cool but it's actually just reading a bunch of books and trying to guess what they say.” Danny grumbled, rubbing his face. “I swear there is nothing that can make me pass out faster than reading those fuckers.”
“That’s because you don’t do your homework. Dorathea is a very good teacher.” Jazz chimed with a mocking smile.
Duke interrupted when Danny jumped to answer. “You said that the books weren’t Jazz’s main duty, so what is it?”
The young woman tensed for a second before putting on a gentle smile. It didn’t fool anybody, though. “I am—”
“Jazz.”
She turned towards her brother. “What?”
“Jazz, look.”
She frowned at his serious tone, the boyish glee gone completely, but turned to look at what he was pointing at.
It was a giant painting on the other wall of the room they just passed by, which was featuring a small family — a woman, a man and a child. All three were wearing nice clothes, serene smiles for the portrait.
“What’s the matter?” Bruce stepped closer to see what they were seeing, tensing when he realized what it was. “Why are you pointing at my parents’ portrait?”
The siblings looked at each other. “That’s your mother?” Jazz finally asked.
The look Bruce gave her was equal parts worried and calculating. “Indeed.”
Again Danny and Jazz talked to each other with facial gestures and looks.
“It can’t be.” Danny murmured. “Can it?”
“I don’t know.” She answered.
“Hey.” Jason grabbed Jazz’s shoulder. “What’s up?”
She glanced at her brother, frowning. She licked her lips and drew a long breath. “That’s Lady Gotham.”
One second passed by. Two seconds.
“No, that’s my mother.”
Dick giggled at the absurdity of the situation.
“Could she be wearing someone’s face?” Jazz ignored Bruce’s quiet breakdown to talk to her brother. “Or is it like ‘the Spirit passes down ownership’ kind of situation?”
Danny hummed. “I don’t think it is the second case,” he crossed his arms, “she felt like an Ancient and this woman couldn’t have been dead that long.”
“Are you saying that an ancient spirit is wearing my mother’s face?” The older man said, voice small. Even Jason frowned at the weakness in his tone.
Jazz seemed to snap back to reality and noticed that the conversation may not be the best given current company. She sighed. “We don’t know. Maybe. Was your mother special in any way for this city?”
“Are you kidding? Haven’t you heard about the Martha Wayne foundation? Or all the charity stuff in her name?” Tim scoffed. “Do you live under a rock?”
Jazz blushed. “I’m sorry.” She shrugged. “I don’t pay that much attention to current events outside my work and Crime Alley.”
Jason pretended to try to hide his smile in Jazz’s hair as he pulled her for a side hug.
Danny made a face at the pair, shook his head and turned towards Bruce. “We can’t be a hundred percent sure, but it’s not unheard of for an ancient Spirit to change their appearance. It’s usually to fit in as time passes; but taking the face of a real person from their hunt?” He tilted his head, and Jason noticed the similarity with his sister. It was adorable. “That’s a new one for me.”
“We can always ask?” Jazz tried to move past her misstep.
“Do you really think she’d want to talk about that?”
“Maybe. If we ask nicely.” Neither sibling actually believed these words.
Bruce blinked slowly and started walking again, lost in thought. The rest followed as if nothing even happened.
“Is she really that scary?” Duke asked.
“She is…,” Danny started, rubbing the back of his neck, “she is surely something else. This city is cursed, man; so it doesn’t surprise me that the Spirit overseeing this place is just as cursed.”
“What Danny is trying to say,” Jazz jumped in, “is that the Spirit of Gotham has been deeply corrupted and, well, she’s definitely in pain, and sometimes she lashes out.”
“That’s a nice way to put it,” her brother scoffed, shaking his head and not looking at anybody. “I don't know what nice and watered down version of the story Jazzy here told you guys but when we first came here, she was pissed. King or no King, she was ready to kill me.”
Jazz blushed again. “I don’t—”
“Yes, you do.” Danny rolled his eyes.
She looked like she had something to say, but chose to close her mouth and ignore the chuckles.
They finally arrived at the nice backyard patio where a table was already set up for lunch. Alfred walked around the table with his cart, setting down the plates and giving the finishing touches to the display.
Nobody missed his little smile watching them naturally divide in groups and sit down together, his eyes lingering on Jason refusing to let go of his girlfriend’s hand even under said girlfriend’s brother's snarky comments about it.
It had been a while since the Manor was filled with noise like this. It felt… alive. Like how it was supposed to be.
The old man quietly grabbed his cart and went back inside to plate the second course for the meal. He didn’t glance at the moving shadows and the trickster reflections on the corner of his eyes — after so many decades serving at this Manor, this family, he got used to not being exactly alone inside those walls.
***
“I don’t know how you are going to break it to Frighty.”
Jazz froze mid bite, frowning as she swallowed the food. “What do you mean?”
Bruce raised his eyebrows at Danny’s shocked expression. The young man looked around the table, maybe looking for support or an explanation, but he probably forgot they just met that morning.
“Are you serious?”
“What?”
“You really don’t know?”
“Know what?”
“Jazz, Fright Knight has been courting you for around a year.”
Tim froze, glancing up to see Jason’s reaction. Expecting loud shouting to start, he was even more shocked when Jason leaned back on his seat and crossed his arms with a giant smirk on his face and a raised eyebrow.
“I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about.” Jazz leaned in, glaring at her brother on the other side of the table.
“Hold on a second,” Dick pushed his empty plate aside to lean closer to Danny, “Fright Knight? The King’s right hand man? The Aspect of Fear?”
“That’s the one!”
“I don’t—” Jazz blinked, “I don’t know— How? When?”
“Uhhhh, since the first siege, I believe?” Danny's smile went from one ear to the other. “He said, and I quote, ‘I had never felt such things in battle before. Lady Jasmine’s war cries pierced my chest deeper than her lance pierced our enemies’.”
Tim shuddered. It was the way Danny impersonated this Fright Knight’s sickening dreamy voice.
“The first siege? That was more than two years ago!”
“And you haven’t noticed this guy being in love with you?” Jason spoke for the first time, grinning at his girlfriend.
“I don’t know?” Jazz threw her hands up. “I thought he was being nice!”
“For a whole year?”
“He’s been giving you courting gifts, Jazz!” Danny said, incredulous. “And you accepted them!”
“So those were courting gifts?”
“What were those gifts?”
“Swords.” Danny answered Jason. “Shiny blades. Ornamental and functional. Jazz has a collection back in the Realms.” He turned towards his sister. “Which, by the way, people keep sending gifts for you. I think they think that you are the ‘reasonable’ one of us and if they send you more swords you’d be more merciful.”
“I don’t need more swords.”
“You liar. You love swords.”
Jazz blushed, unable to say otherwise. “Still nothing he did told me he was interested.”
“Ancients, Jazz,” Danny pinched the bridge of his nose. “Everyone knew he was head over heels for you. We thought you were preferring to deal with it in private.”
Her blush became worse. She kept her gaze fixed on her hands fidgeting with her napkin. “You know I don’t do all the romance stuff.”
Incredulous, Danny just pointed at Jason. “And how do you explain him?”
“It’s…” she licked her lips, “different. Unexpected. We just— we clicked.”
“Awww.”
Danny made a face and rolled his eyes, ignoring Dick and Cass’ cooing.
“Well. I’m not going to be the one dealing with all that. Frighty is all yours.”
Jazz sighed. “I’ll talk to him when I go back to the Realms.”
“Hm.” Danny hummed, suddenly lost in thought as he sipped his water. “Maybe you don’t have to.”
“What?”
“I said: Maybe you don’t have to.” He spoke louder. “Come back, I mean.”
She did a double take. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Danny took a second longer than what was expected. “You can stay here.” He leaned back on his seat, putting as much distance as he could from his sister. He was also evading her eyes. “Permanently.”
There was only the sounds of the birds chirping in the nearby trees and the wind flowing between the leaves for a few seconds.
“Are you—” Jazz’s voice was careful, low, “Are you firing me?”
Half the table was looking at Danny and the other half had their eyes glued on Jazz’s face. Her rage, while quiet, was familiar to those witnessing the moment — betrayals, infightings and disbelief ran though their minds as they remembered similar situations in their pasts.
“Jazz—”
“After everything you just— What the hell Danny?”
“I’m not— Could you at least look at me?” She did, and everyone could see her watery eyes. “It’s for your own good.”
That was the wrong thing to say.
Jazz’s expression turned murderous as the tears escaped her eyes. She stood up, teeth grinding, breathing deeply a few times before she opened her mouth.
“You don’t mean that.” She crossed her arms.
Danny looked like he wished he was anywhere else but in that room at that moment. “Bad choice of words. I don’t mean that.” He slowly repeated.
“Good.” Her shoulders relaxed a bit, but she was still mad.
“What I wanted to say is…” He sighed and lifted his hands in defeat. “I’m sorry. I’m not good at— You know I always mess these things up— Okay, okay I’ll get to the point.” He quickly added under Jazz’s narrowing eyes. He breathed in, breathed out. “I want you to stay here. In the living world. As long as you want.”
She processed his words, and slowly sat back down. The sounds of nature around them picked up like nothing happened, even if no one had noticed their rather unnatural silence.
“But you said…”
“I know. But things have changed, Jazz. I want you to stay. How could I not be okay with that?”
“But— But my role— And the Archives, and Walker, and—”
“Everything can wait. Or, I don’t know, we’ll deal with it.” He leaned in and took one of her hands in his. “We told you to come here because you really needed a vacation, and I stand by it. The Keep can wait for you. I can wait for you.”
“But—”
“Jasmine Fenton. You have given up everything for me. You were not meant for any of this ghost bullshit or war or fist fighting gods in a Denny’s parking lot. But you gave me a decade of that, and I appreciate it, but that’s enough. You can rest now, you can have nice things. You deserve it.”
Nobody missed when Danny gave Jason, and quick look around the people on the table, when he mentioned the “nice things” she could have.
Jazz opened her mouth only to close it again, more tears coming to her eyes. Her cheeks tinted red, maybe from embarrassment, maybe for remnants of her anger.
She yanked her hand from her brother’s and rushed to her feet, taking a shaky breath.
“Excuse me.”
Jason frowned, watching her go back inside the house and probably looking for a place to calm down.
He felt a kick on one leg.
“Go.” Danny interlaced his hands on the table and nodded in his sister’s general direction. “She needs you.”
Jason’s frown deepened, but he obliged without saying a word.
Bruce cleared his throat, suddenly feeling very self conscious under Danny’s stare. The young man didn’t look affected by what just happened like his sister was, but his eyes betrayed the conflicted emotions he hid behind his mask.
“I’m sorry you guys had to witness that. I should have waited until we got home. My bad.” He chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck, but it felt like forced nonchalance.
“That was sure something.” Dick commented after clearing his throat.
“I apologize but I need to ask,” Bruce leaned in. “Jasmine seemed pretty adamant her time here was limited, that she would sooner or later have to leave everything here. What changed?”
“Did she tell you that?” Danny made an incredulous face and scoffed, shaking his head. “I don’t even need to ask. I don’t know why I keep being surprised by her antics.”
“So it’s not true?”
What else had she been lying about? A tiny voice said in the back of Bruce’s head. He tried to ignore it, but given the drastic differences between Danny’s and Jazz’s behavior, he was wondering what was the actual picture and what was the siblings’ casual omission of truth.
“It was true, but only because she herself sets those limits. Jazz is…,” he sighed, deflating on his seat, looking at the sky, “I love my sister, and a lot, but she takes everything too seriously.”
Or you don’t take things seriously enough, Bruce thought, but chose not to say it.
“I never said she had a time limit, or that she had to turn her back on the living world for the rest of her life. We sent her ass to the Arkham internship because she doesn’t know how to take a break.”
“Arkham is a break?” Tim asked what had been lingering in everyone’s heads. The siblings kept referring to working at the worst psychiatric criminal facility, a vacation and a break.
Danny scoffed again, turning his eyes towards the young man. His smile wasn’t kind. “You guys haven’t put it together? The kind of role Jazz has in the Realm. The kind of person she… The kind of person I asked her to become.”
There was deep guilt in his voice, and in the way he couldn’t hold his gaze. Danny fidgeted with his napkin, letting the birds sing the tension of his silence away. They were waiting on him to elaborate, and he knew that, but was building the courage to speak.
“Do you guys know how powerful I am? No, you don’t,” he answered himself with a shrug, “because there’s no one like me. I could— If I wanted to, I could bring this city, the whole city, into the Infinite Realms. Just like that.
If I wanted to I could end the war with a snap of my fingers. I could Order every ghost-adjacent being to follow my every command and bring peace via total domination. Or,” he stopped his fingers, sighing, “I could just rip their cores with a thought and crush them with another and be done with Vlad and with every stubborn ghost that thinks I don’t deserve to be King.”
He finally glanced up at Bruce, as if he knew all these scenarios passed though the man’s head as he spoke. “Imagine that — Every conflict, every war, I could wish it away in seconds.”
The older man nodded, following his speech. “And yet you are here.”
Danny’s vulnerable smile reminded him so much of Clark’s. “I can’t. I can’t do that. If I— If I just eliminate every little thing in my way, what kind of person would I be? I’ve seen it happen, Bruce. I know what I could be if I lose perspective of who I really want to be.”
Cass lifted her hand like she was in a classroom. “Jazz. She’s your anchor.”
Danny went back to looking at his hands, shoulders sagging. In shame? In defeat? “All of them keep me grounded, even when I feel like I’m drifting away from who I used to be. But Jazz? She knows what needs to be done, what I’m scared to do. She knows she can handle the guilt and the nightmares and the horror.”
He took a long breath to calm himself. “Jazz is what I can’t— what I won’t be, and she took that burden like it was nothing. She has always done that, taking the bad things and dealing with them for me. It’s just… This time, the ‘bad things’ are a little bit more permanent.”
It made sense now. How she avoided talking about it, how Jazz tensed when she was asked what her role was. How she was so comfortable at Arkham.
“She’s your Executioner.”
Danny flinched at Bruce’s words. “She’s that and more. She became a counterpart for me, a shadow, so I could shine in the spotlight. A symbol.” He said the word like it was a curse. Bruce didn’t miss the twitch in his eyebrow. “Do you know why her armor is bright red?” His smile wasn’t kind when he looked up. “The Infinite Realms are green. She stands out and attracts all the attention in battle so the rest of us can be the heroes of the hour.” He chuckled. “She never wanted any of this. She didn’t defeat the previous King, she wasn’t even there. I know my childhood could have been way worse if she wasn’t in my life, and I’m grateful, but I kept asking more and more from her and now—”
“Do you really think I didn’t want this?” Jazz’s voice cut through Danny’s rambles. “I chose to stay, Danny.”
He didn’t react when he saw her walk in, her face puffy and her eyes still wet. Did he know she was listening? Of course he did — from what the vigilantes could gather so far, Danny’s abilities were up there with Superman’s. Maybe even more.
“Don’t.” He frowned. “I can see right through your bullshit, Jazz. There wasn’t that much of a choice and you know it.”
She bit her lips, but didn’t deny it. Instead, she pulled on her joined hands with Jason’s so they approached the table and sat down.
After settling in her seat, she breathed in, breathed out and smiled. “You are making me sound like some kind of demon or something.” Nobody bought the lightness of her tone.
Danny caught her deflection and chose to follow. He scoffed. “And you are not?” He made a gesture with his hands, placing them on the sides of his head with his pointer fingers up, imitating his sister’s headpiece.
She rolled her eyes. “I am not—”
“Jazzy, fear incarnate is in love with you. He let you ride his horse!” He smirked at Jason. “Not an euphemism.”
He caught on what the siblings were trying to do and turned towards his girlfriend. “You never told me about any horse, darling.”
“Nightmare was a strategic move. Frighty knows I can’t fly like the rest of you and it could give me an advantage during battle.”
“Nightmare? Seriously?” Jason asked.
“Big black horse with wings.” She quickly explained with a shrug. “Breathes fire.”
“Are you serious? Fright Knight doesn’t let me even touch his horse and I’m the King!” He threw his hands up in the air. “That being said, he doesn’t challenge me as much as he does with you, and thanks the Ancients for that.”
“Wait. Wait a second. Are you saying—”
Danny’s smile grew like a Cheshire Cat’s. “Ooohhhh. You didn’t know? Did you forget the one basic fact about ghost nature, Jazzy-pants? Ghost’s love language is fighting.” He said the last part imitating her voice, like she was giving a lecture of some kind.
“Oh? Tell me more?” Jason leaned towards Danny, head leaning on one hand, completely enraptured by the information his girlfriend’s brother shared so easily.
“And he wasn’t pulling any punches either. Before I learned he was formally courting her, I wasn’t sure if he wanted to fight her to death or marry her!”
“He could do both if he’s not a coward.” Jason shared the smile with Danny, ignoring Jazz’s hands pushing his shoulder away from her.
“Hey!” Jazz protested, but there was a small smile on her lips. “Don’t encourage him!”
“Wait until I tell you about The Ballad of the Red Demon.” Danny also ignored his sister, and the eyes of the rest of the Waynes, as he summoned a notebook with more green flames. He cleared his throat, opened the notebook and started reading:
“The fire in her eyes burned brighter than any sun, as the sharp edge of her blade pierced your chest to meet your untimely end.
Don’t provoke the Red Demon, for her burning fury will consume you in a blaze hotter than the Realm’s Core.
There she rides the winged Dark Horse as her cries call for the blood of her enemies, bright green eyes already searching for the next target.
Don’t provoke the Red Demon, for her siren’s call will be the last thing you hear before you draw your last breath.”
“What in the Ancients is that?” Realization came to the young woman. She slapped the table and stood up. “Ghost Writer?”
Danny nodded. “He gave me the first draft to approve before getting into editing.” He shook the notebook closer to his sister. “There’s a chapter for each of us, don’t think it’s just about you.”
He rolled his eyes and reopened the notebook, getting ready to continue reading, but Jazz jumped and reached across the table trying to snatch the notebook before he continued. He managed to float away just in time to prevent her from taking it from him, and quickly flew high enough that she couldn’t reach him, but close enough that he was almost within reach.
“Awww, you don’t want our new friends to know about your feats during the last siege? About—” he glanced at the text, quickly murmuring words under his breath, “‘Her fiery hair glows like a damned halo’ and ‘sharp blade like a gentle kiss of death’ something something ‘crushing enemies under her foot’.”
Jazz was trying to jump high enough so she could catch her brother, her face crimson red as the others chuckled at the scene.
Finally, taking pity on her, Jason reached for the book as Danny was distracted reading the next stanza and seized it away from the floating Fenton.
“Thank you.” She breathed in relief, extending her hand so he could give her the notebook.
With a tiny smile, he opened it and tried to read too, but it was written in symbols he felt he recognized but couldn’t read.
“Do you have an official translation yet or do I have to wait?”

Girl please help theory homework is kicking my ass. Do you have like sites or people that explain music theory comprehensively....
I sure do!
I used Teoria a lot when I was in college. It has both tutorial pages on music theory concepts and practice exercises to help you apply them practically. I mostly used the latter since my theory professors would assign us ear training exercises every few weeks, but the tutorials delve into a lot of the trickier theory topics like secondary dominance or the many, many types of non-chord tones, so they're pretty useful. I'd recommend playing around with both because getting to read about a topic and see how it functions out in the Real World will help you retain things better. The information pages aren't the most detailed you'll find, but it's a good first start.
musictheory.net is also a good one. It's a bit more in depth than Teoria and goes into more niche territory, with lessons on topics like odd meter and cadences. Like Teoria, it has practice exercises as well.
Alternatively, if you learn better with a video format, there are quite a few YouTube channels I like that cover music theory concepts in a less conventional, but easily digestible way. They won't feel like a traditional music theory lesson, but if you already have the basics down they're a great way to learn and have a little fun at the same time.
David Bennett is one of them—his videos use a lot of examples from popular songs so you can really get a feel for how a lot of these techniques are relevant to the music we hear in our everyday lives, which is super cool!
8-Bit Music Theory is similar, but for video game music instead.
I've also been a long-time Adam Neely fan, but quick disclaimer that not only can he get pretty niche, but his background is in jazz, not classical, so the terminology/chord naming techniques he uses won't always be the same as what you'd learn in your standard music theory class, and not all the topics he covers will necessarily be relevant (or have even existed to begin with) in a classical context. Still very entertaining though.
Idk what concepts you wanted help with specifically but these cover a pretty broad range I'd say. Theory homework sucks (even if music theory itself rules) so I hope these help a little!

I study maths at uni, and you would be surprised at how often all the arcane-looking symbols mathematicians manipulate cross into being actually arcane (in a thaumaturgically potent sense). It’s an absolute pain if you, like me, are from a genus with… shall we say intense thaumaturgic sensitivities.
Things have been coming to a head with the graph theory class I’m taking this term. I absolutely love graph theory, in fact I want to do my thesis research in it someday, but my allergies have been getting so bad that I’ve been considering abandoning the field entirely.
See, graphs, the formal mathematical sense, are objects  consisting of verticies connected by edges. These can be visualised by drawing a bunch of dots (representing the verticies) connected by lines (representing the edges). Many common shapes and symbols are visualisations of graphs! Take, for instance, the complete graph on five vertices (K5 for short). To visualise K5 you can draw your five dots equally spaced in a circle, draw a straight line between each pair of these dots, and… arrive at a little known symbol called a pentagram.
Which is exactly what I did when working on a homework problem a couple of weeks ago. I was so focused on the maths I didn’t even realise what I had drawn until my hand started smouldering. I managed to put out the blaze, but not before my work was burnt to a crisp. I was working on the assignment the night before it was due- I know, I know- so I didn’t have time to rewrite it. Needless to say, my professor was not particularly interested in marking the pile of ash I turned in, and I was curtly informed that “I’m allergic to my homework” is not a valid excuse for failing to turn in legible coursework.
I’m at an impasse. K5 is an extremely mathematically important graph- it’s the smallest complete graph that’s not planar. That is, you can rigorously prove it’s impossible to draw K5 without your edge lines intersecting, even if you are allowed to curve the lines however you want as long as you don’t lift your pencil. This results in K5 having some rather interesting pathological behaviour that makes it an important counterexample in many graph theory proofs …but I digress. Point is, that (quite literally) infernal K5 graph is ubiquitous in graph theory, and it’s far from the only thaumaturgically reactive symbol in the field. I’ve had some other near misses - once I even started to spark during lecture, though no fire broke out that time thankfully. The professor is getting increasingly impatient with me and has given me an ultimatum: get my thaumaturgic allergies under control or drop out of the course. I don’t know what to do. Please help.
[OOC: thanks for bearing with the long mathematical infodump- I love your podcast, the premise leaves so much room for creativity and I have many thoughts about how the canon might tie into my favorite subject. It is true that mathematics historically could get weirdly occult-adjacent. In particular the pentagram, in addition to having interesting mathematical properties, was also the symbol of the delightfully bizarre secretive math cult founded by the Greek scholar Pythagoras- as in the Pythagorean theorem guy. I think in the MA universe there was definitely something liminal going on with the man. Also, for a proof that K5 is not planar- along with other graphs with certain properties- here’s a really cool open source resource! I do love graph theory a lot- this result in particular is really fun to play around with https://discrete.openmathbooks.org/more/mdm/sec_planar.html)]
First things first, reader – thank you so much for bringing me a question that reminds me how much I still have to learn about the world. I admit, mathematics has never been my strong suit, but I've always thought it was a fascinating field of study. Your letter makes me want to learn more!
Fortunately, your particular predicament is rather easier to solve than untangling the mathematical mysteries of the universe. You can deal with your thaumaturgic allergy on two fronts – both by treating the allergy itself, and by securing some additional support from your university.
For the allergy itself, it may seem obvious but have you tried taking an antihistamine before you start your homework? Thaumaturgic allergies function the same as any other allergic reaction, even if the physical response from your body is rather… different.
If over-the-counter antihistamines aren't effective, make an appointment with your GP. Depending on the severity of the allergy, they'll be able to explore treatment options with you or refer you to a specialist. This may include other medication or perhaps desensitisation therapy, where you will be exposed to gradually increasing levels of magic to build up your thaumaturgic tolerance.
As an aside, I must urge you never to attempt such desensitisation on your own. Quite apart from the health risk this poses to yourself, there is also the combustible nature of your allergy to take into account. Besides which, paying a magical practitioner to do random spells in your vicinity in the hopes of prompting a reaction strikes me as an especially dangerous way to waste one's money.
While you're pursuing the medical side of your issue, I encourage you to seek out proper support from your university. I'm pleased to say that your lecturer is thoroughly in the wrong here – being allergic to your homework absolutely counts as grounds for reasonable adjustments, including an extension on your missed deadline.
Your university should have a system in place for supporting students with disabilities and other additional needs. Get in touch with them at the earliest opportunity to talk through the options available for you. At the very least, they should be able to provide you with some thaumaturgically non-reactive writing materials with which to do your work.
Finally, a word of reassurance. Allergies can be extremely frustrating, and even frightening, especially when they aren't taken seriously by the people around you. But there are plenty of treatments available and I see no reason why this should get in the way of your chosen career. And if you do happen to make any breakthroughs in the wonderful world of mathematics, I'd love to hear – even if I might not quite be able to follow!

When Eyes Meet- Midorima Shintaro
A/N: Finally, I get to cover the last guy in the series! Woohoo! I'm chosing to follow Midorima's POV instead of the reader's for this one, because this concept is right up his alley. Aomine- Kise- Murasakibara- Akashi- Kuroko- Kagami
Tumblr media
For as long as Midorima could remember, he had cracked open history books and studies, all to find answers for the question that had been plaguing mankind since their existence. How did Recognition work? Recognition, the fabled phenomenon where two people would lock eyes, and instantly exchanged the very names of their souls with the person destined to be their love. No one knew how people could know the names of ones soul through eye contact, what triggered the phenomenon considering some people knew their love since childhood whilst others would Recognize upon first sight. Midorima had read countless of theories about it, but he could not know wether the held any merit, because Midorima still hadn't Recognized himself despite trying countless ways to attract his future wife. Midorima wasn't the most romantic guy, but the minute someone had informed his tiny self that someday, he would find the girl of his dreams through a tried method, he had been waiting for it to happen. He had dreamt about how it would happen, wonder how she would look like. Midorima was reading yet another study at the Shutoku library, having already done his homework he was burried in another book about the subject yet again. "Still reading these books, Shin-Chan?" Takao asked from behind him, spooking the green haired boy. He whirled around annoyed and saw Takao was with his usual small friend group. They eyed him with their friendly smiles, one more teasing then the other. Midorima didn't had true close friends in Shutoku, except for Takao. The rest of the gang were more like casual acquaintances he hung out with from time to time. They consisted out of a boy named Kyoyama Ryu, another one named Toya Keisuke and his sister Rinka, and you. Keisuke scoffed at the book. "You really think you're going to find the love of your life if you're stuck in the library all day?" Rinka hit her brother. "At least his grades aren't failing the way ours are, nii-chan." You giggled and decided to sit in the seat next to him. "I don't think anyone would want to trade with your grades, Keisuke-kun." You teased and Midorima couldn't help but think you had such a lovely grin. Your playful expression was oozing with charm. "Well, what do you guys think how it happens?" Whilst everyone in his group was as soulmateless as he himself was, he figured asking the question would do no harm. Keisuke scrunched his nose in thought and Takao hummed as he thought about his own theories. "Maybe, it's seeing someone for who they truly are." Your answer came immediately, like you had thought about it so much that you didn't even needed to think about your theory. Midorima looked at you in surprise, your simple answer felt like a pretty satisfactory explanation. 'If eyes really are the windows to the soul, then that's a decent theory,' Midorima mused. He looked at you, and studied your frame. If he could be honest, you were the one from Takao's friend group he liked the most. You were the type to always come with an answer or a solution to the questions he had, thinking outside the box. With you, he felt like his musings and worries always cleared like the sun, giving him time to think of other things, like how soft your hair always looked. If he were less reserved, he would have asked you for your contact details long ago. "Ey y/n-san, I bet you've got a clear idea of the guy you're gonna Recognize huh?" Rinka asked as she flopped down on your other side. "Not really. Every time I try to picture what kind of guy suits me, I just end up lost and confused." "Well someone smart enough to match you. Someone steady, who's probably traditional but not in a discriminatory sense. You know, like Midorima." Rinko had spoken her mind before she realized how awkward her words were. As your eyes fluttered to Midorima, curiously, he peered into your eyes and found to his shock that a name bubbled at his lips. And he instantly knew, that it was yours.

Something I am noticing lately on our current 'content and engagement-driven' internet is the mass platforming of stuff that 'sounds like it makes sense to a human being' as its only basis. It resembles 'a real thing' that people can hear of, but it's served completely blind to knowledge of the topic at hand.
It's not quite misinformation because it doesn't have to be an intentional trick or fringe conspiracy theory, or 'fake news' style progpaganda, or something with any kind of comprehensible 'goal.' And its often fully automated: it's about feedback loops in the selection of content, not 'content creation.'
So 'accurate' information on how and how often people select A, B, or C... but no information about what A, B, or C are or any factual information about them. Sort of like how 'AI art' will return output based on prompts, vast amounts of indexed 'reference' and trained data, but doesn't know 'what it's looking at.'
The result is similar to 'enshittification' but doesn't have to do with gutting usability to deliver returns to investors. It has to do with automated systems self-gutting a platform's usability because they do not actually 'know' anything, they just evaluate the navigation patterns of prior users.
This is a really simple, innocent, non-malicious starting point:
Tumblr media
This is an audio-based youtube video that was made by a human being (I assume) who mixed Blue Noise and Violet Noise with the sounds of actual blueberries being shaken in a box for relaxation purposes. There's nothing inherently wrong with it. Please don't find and bother the blueberry noise person, nothing (that I know of) is their fault.
The thing is, 'white noise/pink noise/brown noise' are specific audio patterns that are sometimes studied for their benefits on concentration, sleep quality, etc. Which is why people are searching for them on the internet, they want practical benefits. There are other 'color' noises but any benefits are even less well-known, or their application for study is very specific (Violet Noise is studied for tinnitus relief, I believe.)
Tumblr media
While the blueberry noise video is just for fun, for the benefit of anyone who enjoys it, it exists within a 'topic' that a platform like Youtube has matched to be 'about' some practical benefit. But you don't need to actually know anything about Pink Noise or Brown Noise to get to that topic, you just need to search 'concentration noise.'
You could plonk down a 10 hour video of your own farts and title it "rainbow noise for homework focus!" and the algorithm cannot 'know' that no part of what you posted is "a real thing." It would only see the activity metrics, who got to it from where, and how popular you are, and its potential to keep users engaging with the platform.
People navigate 'white noise/pink noise/brown noise' for ADHD relief, to soothe their babies to sleep, or to help with chronic insomnia or headaches. Even if studies on the effectiveness of 'well known' color noises are still only preliminary (this study only had 22 participants!), there is some basis for their benefit... but no evidence yet that supports the benefit in mixing different color noise patterns, like the blueberry noise video. It's just for fun. The issue is that Youtube doesn't know what 'just for fun' is.
If you listen to enough audio pattern content to encounter our blueberry noise friend you probably are going to run into 'Alpha/Beta/Gamma Frequencies', 'Solfeggio Tones', and 'Binaural Beats.' But, again, the algorithm has no real human knowledge: it doesn't 'know' the difference between any of these things or what they're studied for, or if any real benefit has been confirmed. But content reflecting machine curation's inability to understand will float to the top, based on user activity patterns:
Tumblr media
Alpha waves have nothing to do with being an alpha chad. But through association without comprehension, platforms have 'learned' what 'alpha' means and as a result content will appear and be promoted that bridges multiple ways people use 'alpha' as a search term.
Tumblr media
High frequencies produced by the human brain have been associated with memory recall and learning, but listening to high frequencies as 'brain waves' has nothing to do with this, and especially not a dystopian drive to 'increase productivity and output.' But people are searching for how to do that, because of the demand their lives place on them.
Tumblr media
There is no sound frequency you can listen to that heals the body or reduces inflammation but due to this principle I'm describing that's messing with the internet, you can search this on Google and it will now not give you any credible information on the first page, it will assume that what you're talking about is legitimate and show you results that 'you're looking for':
Tumblr media
It will not assume you would be interested in a 'no' or 'this is not real.' None of the Page 1 Google Search Results pictured above are based in any scientific fact. Maybe if you're a stressed out zebrafish. Legitimate medical practices that use frequencies are like... shock wave lithotripsy for kidney stones to break them apart. But once a web platform records people searching for audio content that confers dramatic 'real' results, it will retrieve other kinds of content as if it's credible:
Tumblr media
I think it goes without saying that this has no basis in fact and it's not just somebody's fun entertainment project, and it's not something a typical person would seek out or casually believe to be true.
Anyway. The blueberry noise is fun and fine. But the current internet is on a form of evil autopilot that can't discern white noise intended to soothe babies from the innocent only-for-fun blueberry noise from The Law of Attraction. It's like the perfect totally-blind robot salesperson without ethics or morals of any kind. If you ask it for medicine it will eventually sell you cyanide pills simply because they are pills and so many people are interested in cyanide these days.

– BASIC INFORMATION.
Full name | Aliases: Hector Oscar García Liddell Gender | Sexual orientation: Cis man | Gay Date of birth | Age: 26th of June | 47 Place of birth: Newcastle upon Tyne Current residence: 10 Downing Street Occupation | Affiliation: Prime Minister of the UK | Labour Party Relationship status: Married to Viktor Liddell. – PHYSICAL TRAITS.
Hair color: Salt and Pepper Eye color: Dark brown Height | Weight: 5 feet 9 inches (1.77 m) | 72 kg (160 lbs) Distinguishing features: Strong nose, smooth recognizable voice, Newcastle accent (fading) Faceclaim: Raul Esparza
– BIOGRAPHY.
Hector was born in the working class, to parents who had fled Fidel Castro's regime and made ends meet while they raised him far away from home. Every day, after school, he would do his homework at his mother's desk, who worked as a receptionist in a paper company. His father was a florist working on farmer's markets. They were hard workers, who had big plans for their only son and they saved every month to put him in a proper school. While attending high school, Hector came in second in a competition organized by the British Academy for Science, for his research project on reducing water usage in agriculture, he participated to debate competitions and though he was happy to make his club's victory a collective effort, his extensive knowledge of social, political, economical issues was key into getting 1st place, and it was no surprise that he ended up president of this club as well as 3 others.
He joined college and at the same time officially signed up with the Labour Party as a full member and activist. His parents were involved in politics themselves, and from the moment he was old enough to hold flags at rallies and demonstrations, his father would hoist him up on his shoulders. They both took part in a worker's union, though his mother was the one most devoted to helping both workers and those most vulnerable.
He first did a double licence in sociology and political sciences at LSE, studied in Barcelona for a year with the Erasmus program, and got involved in activism there too. Followed two more years during which he worked on his thesis. He focused on the positive impact immigration had on the country, and while his work was applauded by his peers, he reaped a lot of bile and hatred from the opposition. The dichotomous controversial work ended up in the media. While progressive ones applauded his fresh stance on the question and commented on the depth of his analysis. Qualitative research combined with grounded theory made a solid ground to build his political program on. It didn't matter if some called him a ludicrous dreamer or a clown. Ad hominem attacks only confirmed what he already knew: he needed to take things further, he needed to become a candidate to local elected office.
He ran for council in his borough, Barking and Dagenham, in north eastern London. He fought against gentrification in the area, which would be made all the more painful with the 2012 Olympic Games and the quick evolution of the city in the years that preceded the event. Hector spent most of his free time listening to people who dedicated a lot of their energy, time, or even money for the local community. Eventually, when the time came for him to campaign again, this time for MP, he chose to rely only on their donations, refusing any money that came from corporations and lobbies. The people would be who he represented, not the interest of private companies. It was unconventional. It was risky. He might even lost the election because he fought against Goliaths. Fundraising and media relations was usually handled by professionals who saw the world through a lens filled with statistics and polls.
He shouldn't have won those elections, he supposed. When he won, upspent with a margin of 15 to 1 by his opponents, Hector couldn't believe how much support he had managed to gather through his years as a devoted borough councilman.
Hector, who was now a MP for a little over 10 years, was feeling tight in his shoes, and with the help of his husband, threatened his old LSE pal, none other than the Prime Minister, to reveal the contents of the treaty to the public. He knew the time was right for him. He was quite popular among the party, and his husband's ties with the conservatives made him much easier to accept for the Tories.
His party did get this much right: he represented a breath of fresh air, and those always got people talking. What they didn't get right, however, was this idea that Hector was so much better than your typical politician. Not one bit. He wasn't above shoving people under the bus, or using god awful tactics to get ahead of others. He might have been a likeable personality, with the kind of voice that you could have listened to even if it read the phone book, he also knew when crossing the line was necessary. After all, in a city like London, you couldn't possibly hope to survive being a good guy.

As the wolves got older, their parents had wondered if their strange ability to talk without talking would fade. After all, they were around the same age now that most of the wolves earliest memories came from, and they'd never been able to do it. But no. If anything, they seemed to communicate silently more and more as time went on.
Maybe it's something you had to learn early? was their best theory, but without easy access to more information on born-wolves, they couldn't be sure. Maylu had begun to foster an academic connection with Moonlight Falls' medical community, but things were still slow, thanks to working around Cottonwood General's policies.
In the meantime... well, the kids seemed happy enough. It certainly helped out when it came to things like homework.

Kiss Prompts #35: To gain something
Dio Brando/reader (gender neutral reader)
You’d been friends with Jonathan first, but it’s Dio that really catches your eye. You’d met the two of them in college after being paired with Jonathan on an assignment, and you’d worked well enough together that you continue to collaborate, helping each other with research and homework.
Dio is charming, handsome, and single, so when he takes an interest in you, you’re eager to reciprocate. You begin to spend more time with him, even without Jonathan around. He takes you to the theater, has you over for dinner, and makes you feel special. You can see a future with him.
He tells you how he and Jonathan hadn’t gotten along when they were younger, and how he’s been trying to repair their relationship in more recent years. You think it’s sweet that he’s making such an effort, and you tell him you’ll help him however you can. You care about both of them, and you want to see them happy and getting along like brothers should.
You’re relaxing on a couch in the Joestar mansion’s library with Dio one afternoon, while Jonathan is out, when he has the idea to try and help Jonathan in his research.
“Tell me, what has he learned about that old mask? Is there anything in particular he’s stuck on? Perhaps I could bring an outside perspective to things.” He suggests, leaning back against the armrest of the couch with you on his chest. His arms are around you, and he’s idly stroking your back.
“Well, he’s found that it was made by some sort of Aztec cult, but he can’t quite figure out what it was for. He’s still trying to find someone who can translate the inscription inside, too.” You tell him.
“I’m afraid I don’t read Aztec. But you say he doesn’t know what it’s for? I’d like to hear more about that.”
“It’s the strangest thing. I haven’t seen it myself, but he says that when the mask is exposed to blood, these stone spikes pop out of the sides. He showed me a sketch of them, and they’d surely kill anyone who was wearing the mask when they were activated.”
“Perhaps that is the intent.” Dio suggests. “It could be some kind of tool for ritual sacrifice.”
“That’s our theory at the moment, yes.”
“I could procure a map of the brain, so that he could map the areas that would be affected by the spikes. They could be symbolically significant.”
“That’s a wonderful idea, Dio.”
“Thank you. I do appreciate you telling me about this.” He smiles and tilts his head down to kiss you. It’s less than chaste, with an almost forceful intensity, but you aren’t complaining.
You’ll never know that Dio is, at that very moment, planning his brother’s murder with the mask. He needed to know how much Jonathan had learned about it, and he’s been only too happy to use Jonathan’s little research partner, you, for information before stealing the thing. You’ve been an amusing fling, but he has bigger plans.

Peach I can prove that reviving Fossil Pokémon does not turn them into rock types. There are in fact some ancient pokemon that weren't revived but instead have simply been hibernating underground for millions of years and Ash can prove it. There was a cave at a dig site where omanyte, omastar, kabuto, kabutops and areodactly were found hibernating and they were all rock types. Ash got kidnapped by the last one. There has also been other instants and Ash has been apart them.
Peach: Okay that's one avenue, but you're also forgetting a couple hundred things.
Peach: One, Its entirely possible that they evolved to coincide with their environment.
Peach: Two, It is physically impossible for them to have simply Hibernated for hundreds of thousands of years like that- they're not legendaries, they cant survive that long during an eternal sleep and no outside human stasis.
Peach: Three, I've SPOKEN to Professor Foster, And he's adamant that they were there, LIVING, long before we started to research the area. Proving that they were evolving to avoid the mass extinction their species was originally thriving on.
Peach: So, I guess you "got" me good on that one, but it doesnt explain why our revival process gives them a rock typing and why several other species we havent found alive are ALSO rock types.
Peach: So congratulations on (((Reads notes))) Proving that im wrong on one subsection of Fossil types even though your theories can be explained away- oh whoopsie! I dont think i was supposed to read that last part outloud.
Peach: And for your information, I have talked to Ash about this, he's my fucking brother. And if you'd actually bothered to talk to him he could tell you so many stories about Aura in living beings that help PROVE our scientific cases and disprove others. Serves you right for not getting this properly peer reviewed!
Peach: Get on! Im adding another essay to your homework >:(

Something ive done when reading economic and political theory that helps to retain the information is taking notes. i used to reread books 10+ times to really get the info down, no,w just around twice with some skimming afterwards. combine this with not viewing it as a homework assignment instead of actually seeking knowledge and fulfilling my curiosity, theory is really enjoyable.

Anon wrote: Hi there, and Happy Holidays! I hope you’re doing well. I’m having trouble determining my type - I’m currently torn between INFP and INFJ. You seem very well-informed on Jung’s theory, so I’d like to ask for a type assessment from you. My main conflict is what feeling function I use.
For extra info, I’m 21F. I have ADHD-PI, social anxiety and depression, as well as some trauma, which may affect how I present myself as well as my level of health. I think, regardless of which functions I use, I use them in an unhealthy manner. It’s also worth noting that I don’t have a lot of life experience due to a sheltered upbringing (over-protective parents and relatively lavish home life meant that I never felt the need to demand much from the outside world).
INFP:
Dominant Fi:
I do have a one-sidedness when it comes to my values (if you could call them that, I’m really not sure), deeming types of hobbies, fashion, ambitions, and as such subsets of people as superior or inferior depending on what I think of them. My judgment affects how I see others in a big way. For example, I’ll judge people for dressing in a way I perceive to be “lazy”, because “do they not realise how they look to other people?”. Then, I’ll assume that they’re not associating with beyond common courtesy. Obviously, I know this line of thinking could seem haughty of me, so I don’t express this to others.
I place a lot of value on sophistication, intellect and manners, and expect the same of everyone else as well. My values mostly revolve around my expectations of how people should behave. I’m easily disappointed when I fail to notice these values in others, because my perspectives are based on what I truly believe is best for humanity at large. I recognise that this could be seen as imposing, and I never directly call people out for behaviour I dislike - I would rather persuade them to my side diplomatically.
I’ll be honest, the main reason I believe my feeling process to be introverted is the fact that I just can’t connect to my country’s culture, and it makes me resent it. It’s so heavily focused on everything I have no interest in; drinking, sport, nights out, TV. There’s a worrying amount of anti-intellectualism beginning to prevail too. It bothers me to the point that I want to emigrate, just so I can find likeminded people elsewhere. As such, I have difficulty seeing any values I hold as objective (as much as I wish for them to be universal), when I’m so disconnected from the objective world around me.
Inferior Te:
I lack the fundamental ability to implement solid solutions to my problems. I’m generally very inefficient and dependent on others to help me with this, such as homework in the past or filling in applications. I do struggle to fathom how people navigate the business world and the likes so seamlessly, and I often find myself admiring their ruthless nature. This is probably because my lack of natural assertion has led to problems within my personal life.
I become extremely cold and judgmental under stress, and only care about myself. I tend to self-centredly blame everyone but myself for the issues in the world, including me not being able to identify with those around me, and desperately want to “correct” them. This could be construed as black-and-white thinking in terms of morality. I rely on external standards to amplify my self-image, such as high grades in the past. Despite my coldness, I can flip to being ridiculously sensitive when someone makes me feel inadequate or beneath them, and it can lead to me being snappy with others.
Auxilary Ne:
I believe I use Ne as an escape from the world. I’ll often turn to fantasy as a way to cope. I have used this to procrastinate more pressing issues that I didn’t want to deal with, preferring to live in my daydreams where everything is easier. While I do have very complex worlds in my head, this can be enriched by things outside of it too. For example, I’ll admire the dynamics of a friendship group in a show, and wish for that for myself. So, I form an ideal group in my mind. This serves as a double-edged sword, because while it can be meaningful inspiration for me to implement in reality, it can also lead to bitter disappointment if these ideals can’t be realised.
However, Ne can cause larger issues than just procrastination. I will envision only negative outcomes to situations, leading to complete inaction. Eventually I lose hope altogether, thinking there’s nothing in the future for me, and reject the world altogether. My mind becomes more narrow, only choosing to stick to very specific situations and trains of thought.
I often turn to external forms such as music to identify my feelings, seeking to find myself within the feelings and expressions of others. I then wish to embody the images I find within the song, in hopes that I can discover my identity that way. This also gives me the opportunity to explore different perspectives, which can often help liberate my typical one-sidedness.
Tertiary Si:
In terms of Si loop, this tends to manifest in the form of craving my childhood back. I wish I could lose the responsibility on my shoulders and just go back to playing imaginary games and being completely oblivious to the world.
I also have a tendency to become closed-minded, immediately shutting out other people’s ideas that don’t “fit” in my own head. I would rather take no action at all than risk making the wrong move, because the regret would just be paralysing. My past experiences tend to drastically influence how I perceive things, and it’s difficult for me to wrap my head around how someone can see things so differently to how I do. As such, I cling onto my perceptions of the world heavily.
INFJ:
Dominant Ni:
I have always been known as an idealist, and someone that lives in my head. My mind was always my escape from the harshness of reality. Ever since I was young, I’ve developed deeply personal mental images and narratives, and purpose has been my driving force. When I was a child, I had myself fully convinced for years that I was a fairy queen doomed to live inside a human husk to test my fortitude for my “kingdom’s” sake. Even now, I always need to have some sort of abstract ideal propelling me forward.
The future has always been my main priority in life. Even if I don’t have a concrete idea of my life’s trajectory, I always know if something does or doesn’t fit into it. Others around me have complimented my insightfulness and my ability to predict what will eventually become of a situation. This can be anything from the plot of a story, to a relationship, generally anything can lead my mind to spiral towards a single-minded prediction.
However, this has been a large source of pain and isolation throughout my life. When I’m at my lowest, I make sweeping generalisations such as “everything is meaningless”, “everyone is so boring”, “every form of media I consume is shallow”. It makes me feel self-conscious, wondering if my expectations are too high, but I can’t seem to let go of my ideals regardless. I’ve been noted as a very detached person, taking my inner world too seriously.
Inferior Se:
The mundane has never interested me. I’ve never taken the world at face value, which does lead to warped perceptions and dashed expectations at times. I honestly tend to look down on those that exhibit more impulsive, hedonistic traits. I’ve been told that I need to “let loose” more, but I just can’t fathom doing that. I don’t understand why someone wouldn’t want to be in full control of themselves and their presentation at all times. I can’t envision my life or the world without meaning, and as such, I unconsciously reject anything I deem surface-level or crass. This does tend to overlap with typical Se traits.
However, there are times where I fall into Se traits during stress. I blurt out things I don’t mean to say, hyper-focus on insignificant details to the point that I lose sleep, and indulge myself needlessly in sensory pleasures, such as food, or deliberately delve into more shallow forms of communication, such as social media. A lot of the time, I obsessively seek out people or outside circumstances that prove my personal narrative about a concept, in a way to prove it to both myself and others. I expect and take from the world, but ultimately provide nothing.
Auxilary Fe:
As probably highlighted in my Fi section, I do exhibit some resistant behaviours towards Fe. Generally, any area will come with stereotypes of those that live there, and I don’t fit that mould at all. I’m quiet, prudent and abstract-minded in comparison to what’s expected. It’s a complicated experience for me, because as much as I resist what a lot of common behaviours represent, another part of me wants to beat myself up relentlessly for not fitting in perfectly. I often hope that I’m just viewing people negatively and tarring everyone with the same brush, so I will find my crowd eventually. I have never once rejected the concept of following objective values - if anything, it appeals to me greatly. I just think I have been extremely unlucky with the ones I’m expected to follow. Rather than following a greater purpose or meaningful relationship, I feel stuck in the monotony of my home.
Honestly, my default state is still to go along with everyone else’s wishes and forget my own feelings. It got to the point where I questioned if I could feel at all sometimes, and I’d lose my sense of identity altogether. I can’t bear any kind of conflict and I’m always trying to harmonise with those around me. The resentment I mentioned has only blossomed within the last few months, when I realised that the environment can’t always play to my preferences and strengths. It came to me like a flash of lightning. I often find myself wishing I could “unsee” the issues that led me to this constant frustration, so I could lose myself again and just comply. At least that sort of mindset could be seen as romantic or pitiful - my feelings now are just pure pettiness, and deliberately targeted at those I seek validation from.
I adjust my behaviour quite a bit to suit the emotional atmosphere, both to avoid exposure and to be seen in a positive light. I know what I can and can’t express, maintain etiquette, and try to carry myself well. As well as adjusting, though, I do try to have some sort of influence and warp the atmosphere to suit myself as well. I always strive to be a positive influence on others, and tend to view myself in the light that I want to be seen by the world at large. This is all in the hopes that eventually, I’ll be recognised by everyone as the ideal I’m trying to live up to, and others will follow in my footsteps.
I’m ridiculously sensitive to any form of criticism or rejection, and isolate myself often to protect myself. Any negative comment made towards me, even someone looking at me the wrong way, can completely throw me off and ruin my self-perception. This is amplified tenfold when around new people - I’m extremely self-conscious and try to come across as almost too perfect.
Tertiary Ti:
I see detached analysis as a comfort, in a strange way. The relief that comes with being able to detach and let go of emotional baggage is therapeutic for me. However, when I do use Ti to navigate my emotional life, it tends to take the form of rationalising my feelings, figuring out why I feel a certain way before I can accept it and express it to others. Naturally, this line of thinking extends to how I work around other people’s feelings, too.
However, I believe I can use Ti in an unhealthy manner too. When I detach from the emotional realm too much, this can quickly lead me to a misanthropic and cynical worldview. I tell myself that nobody is worth engaging with because they won’t understand, let alone accept, what’s going on in my head. I flip between desperately wanting to be loved and questioning why, when I can only think negatively of people.
I acknowledge that my logic can be flawed, but it’s hard to grasp that in the moment. It really throws me off when someone points out holes in my logic, though - even if I know I’m wrong deep down, I will often cling to my way of thinking just for the sake of it.
Any insight would be immensely helpful, I hope I followed your instructions well enough. Thanks so much if you read all of this.
---------------------
You're really pulling and stretching at the INFP functions to try to make them fit and even ignoring strong counter-evidence, whereas the INFJ functions are a much more natural fit. You seem to have a long journey of function development ahead of you but I believe Ni+Fe lie at the heart of the project rather than Fi+Ne. As such, I would conclude your type is INFJ with a high degree of confidence.
