Slight Marvel Critical

I've heard people talk about the recent "happy ending" that seems to be happening to almost every Avengers member being them all getting a child. The only Avenger I could see this ending being truly applicable to would be Bruce Banner (given the scene in Avngers 1 where he's talking to Nat. "We don't always get what we want" he says while rocking a cradle) just not in the way it actually ended up happening in she-h*lk.

There's one other character that I could see this family ending happening to and making sense, but only if they had written right in the first place: Loki. Loki had 6 children in total in mythology (Sleipnir, Fenrir, Hel, Jormungandr, Narfi, and Vali) and in the Marvel comics, Hel or Hela, Jormungandr, Fenrir, and Sleipnir are sometimes recognized as Loki's children. I could see Loki adopting or having children as a reasonable ending to the Loki series, or at least I could've had they actually made Loki's children into his children instead of the "Hela's your sister" thing.

I used to like Thor Ragnarok and a part of me still does, but now I just end up annoyed or bothered by the fact that Hela is not Loki's child! Loki has NONE of his monstrous children despite 3 out of 4 being shown on screen in the MCU! Imagine just how much more impactful Ragnarok would've been had those monsters been Loki's children and he, Bruce, Thor, and Valkyrie had to fight against them. How much heartache could come from Loki having to lose his children after 3 of them had almost all but been locked away from him due to Odin seeing visions of their destruction in Ragnarok. Maybe Loki faced shame especially since Hela, Jormungandr, and Fenrir came from him dating a giantess during a time which he and everyone thought he was purely Asgardian. He would realistically have them as a 'teenager' in order to fit the current MCU time frame and maybe there was shame in having bastard children that young. Or even yet, rumors spread through Asgard, "Have you seen Loki's children? There are horrendous! Could you imagine him being on the throne? He wouldn't be able to produce a normal heir for Asgard, he can't be a king! He's the Father of Monsters!" Maybe I'm just too big a fan of the darker beginning of the MCU, but I think Thor 3 would've been a more complex narrative had Loki been recognized as the father. Maybe when Hela was first sent to "the darkest realm where those that die in inhonorable ways reside" due to her saying the dead respect her more than the living due to half her body appearing like a corpse, Loki and her believed that Loki would still be able to see her but she actually ended up being completely locked away. Odin dies and so does the spell, and she holds resentment towards Asgard for the way they treated her, her father, and her brothers (Fenrir was chained cause Asgard feared him for his strength and size, and Jormungandr was greatly feared as well but was left to the waters to encircle the realm Midgard). She wants to destroy Asgard with her father, but Loki refuses saying that won't happen "Just come back home with me, sweetheart" to which she thinks that her own father is siding with Odin. She begins to see Loki as an enemy as well thus causing the main tension of the movie. When Hulk has to battle Fenrir, adding a scene where Thor slays Jormungandr, and having to unleash Surtr cause there's no way to stop Hela but to kill her, it all adds to the conflict: Loki not wanting to hurt his children but having no other choice. The pain in Ragnarok would then be the perfect set up for Loki eventually having another child as a 'Happy Ending'.

But none of that happened. If they make Loki have/adopt a child at the end of the Loki series, it would just be another throw-away scene not needed in the MCU. For the love of G-d, PLEASE DON'T TELL ME LOKI HAS A CHILD AT THE END OF THE LOKI SERIES

#InHonor of Enrique and to help the community that he so loved, we are donating 40 #Backpacks Enrique would have been 31 on the 23rd of July. He had been #LivingOnTheStreets.
