the vampire isabelle desrosiers: the ballerina, the red rose, the independent
birthdate: 1820
date turned: 1843
maker: unknown
faceclaim: hailee steinfeld
mortal life
born in bordeaux, france on some day in 1820 that she could not remember, to parents whose names that she could not remember, isabelle marie-thérèse desrosiers began her mortal life in a wealthy home funded by her father’s wine exports. her childhood was one of luxury, with everything she could need provided to her, but it was just as often suffocating.
isabelle’s mother was a half-black noblewoman, whose very birth was a scandal in french high society. when her white father married and had a child with her, it was even more scandalous. wishing to save their daughter from the prying eyes of high society, they kept her cooped up in their lavish home, her only contact with the outside world coming from private tutors and distant relatives whenever they felt like visiting.
with no siblings and parents who were preoccupied with running their vineyards and keeping track of finances, isabelle found herself bored. she turned to her studies for entertainment, at first, learning three languages other than french (english, dutch, and german) and two instruments (piano and cello) by the time she was 12. eventually, she grew bored of this, too, and began begging her parents to let her out of the house. after a year of pleading, they finally said yes.
her parents began making it a habit of taking her on their outings every month. sometimes it was nothing more than promenading down the streets of high society. others, it was trips to see stageplays or the opera. isabelle was 14 when they took her to the ballet for the first time to see la sylphide, and she fell in love with it. she became enamored with the likes of fanny elssler and lucile grahn, and she insisted her parents take her to more performances. she was 16 when she began to dance, herself.
isabelle knew she would never make it to the stage. her family was surrounded by much controversy, both on her mother’s side and her father’s— one doesn’t become a wealthy businessman without stepping on a few toes, after all—, but it didn’t stop her from asking her parents to hire her a dance instructor. it took her a few years to really get good at it, but every night in the quiet of her home, she closed her eyes and made the hardwood floors beneath her feet her stage, a ballerina in everything but profession.
her actual profession would end up being the bookkeeper of her father’s vineyards when he died unexpectedly sometime in 1840. the doctors said it was a strange influenza, one that dried the very blood in his body. isabelle’s mother refused to remarry or allow any of the men in the family to take over his business, but being a working noblewoman in the 1840s was near-unheard of, and required a lot of help. isabelle helped manage the finances while grieving the loss of father, becoming even more of a shut-in than before for the next 3 years.
on a cool summer night in 1843, after 3 years of nothing but working and listening to her mother cry, isabelle stepped out to see the ballet again. she saw giselle, a relatively new production and one that captivated her just long enough to forget about her grief. that night, a woman who had seen the performance caught her attention outside, her skin glistening in the moonlight. she felt a strange pull to her, as if she could hear her calling, “come to me.”
before she knew it, she was letting the woman pull her into an alleyway and undoing her corsets in the dark. she felt a sharp pain in her neck, and she swore she was dying, until she felt the taste of blood on her lips and saw the darkness disappear around her— along with the woman. she was left in the alleyway, half-undressed and disoriented, alone.
early years as a fledgling
after that night at the ballet, isabelle began experiencing… changes. she felt weak, but was stronger than ever, slamming doors and breaking things without meaning to. she grew hungrier than she had ever been, but no food could seem to satiate her. sometimes it even felt as though as she could read people’s minds, knowing what they were about to say before they said it. she didn’t know what was happening to her, why she could no longer sit in the sunlight without her skin starting to burn, why she grew tired in the day and felt awake at night. she knew nothing, only that she was hungry.
it was her maid who would be unlucky enough to finally satiate isabelle’s cravings. she knocked on the door to her room one afternoon, growing concerned with how often she seemed to be sleeping through the day. isabelle, agitated from being awoken and ravenous from 4 days of starvation, sunk her teeth into the woman and drained her dry. in a panic, she cleaned herself of the blood and propped the woman’s body up in her bed, claiming she had succumbed to the strange fever going around.
she had heard of vampires before, of course. but she thought them mythical creatures, nothing more than urban legends designed to scare the faithless into repentance. after her bloody rendezvous with the maid, isabelle took to her books, reading every one she could get her hands on that so much as mentioned vampires. she told no one, shutting herself away in her father’s study under the guise of work. she learned to shut herself away in windowless rooms to sleep during the day and to hunt each night to curb her hunger.
her mother noticed the change, as did the servants. they worried for her, believing her to be afflicted with a strange illness, perhaps one of the mind. as the months turned to years and no amount of medical attention helped her, they eventually gave up on trying. the family doctors turned their attention to her mother, who was growing older and whose health was declining rapidly.
after her mother died, everything changed for the worse. there were rumors that the stress isabelle’s strange behavior had imposed on her had killed her, taking care of the family vineyards on her own became an impossible task, and she felt more alone in that big house than ever before. to make matters worse, isabelle was nearly 40 now, and she looked just as she did at 23. she knew she needed to leave. and perhaps more selfishly, she wanted to. this was her chance for true independence, and she took it.
she had heard rumors of vampires in eastern europe. desperate to know more about what she was, she sold the vineyards, packed her backs, and headed for romania. she travelled all across europe in search of fellow vampires, quietly hoping to find the one who had made her. in all her travels, she never would find her, but she would find a coven all her own— right back home in france.
life with the paris coven
when isabelle returned home to france, having little luck finding vampires elsewhere (the ones she did find often being rather unfriendly), it was 1891. the world had changed immensely in the past 30 years she’d been gone, and continued to change right before her very eyes. she wanted to be a part of it desperately, so she settled down in the heart of the action: paris. she anticipated a bustling city life filled with wonder. what she did not anticipate was finding a coven of vampires right underneath her nose.
she encountered the théâtre des vampires for the first time when she went to see a stageplay put on by the troupe. it was nothing like she had ever seen before, dazzling and enthralling, but some part of it felt so familiar that she couldn’t help but wonder if there was a reason she had felt pulled in by it. it was a black haired woman that introduced herself as estelle after the show ended who would confirm her suspicions. she said she had been watching her for quite some time and, impressed by her ability to survive alone, invited her backstage to meet the others.
isabelle was transported to a world of darkness filled with the vampires she had been so desperately searching for. she became enamored with the coven, filled with a childlike joy at the prospect of being surrounded by those who had a flare for the dramatic just as she did. she told them of her time alone, how she never did find her maker, and they welcomed her with open arms, teaching her all the things that nobody else would or could.
she settled down with the coven, working as a stagehand at first. what she really wanted to do, though, was dance. she begged the others for a role in one of their performances, her pleas being shot down every time. finally, she approached armand with an ultimatum: either they let her dance, or she goes somewhere else where they will. armand said nothing to this, but the next night, she was told she had finally earned her place in the coven. she was on stage within the week.
isabelle spent the next 50 years dancing most nights, even teaching several of the others so she didn’t have to dance alone. when louis and claudia arrived, she even taught claudia to dance, too. she loved those two dearly, especially claudia, advocating for her to have a role of her own in the coven’s performances. she respected louis’ independence, and the pair often went out together on evening strolls whenever he wasn’t too preoccupied with armand. one could even say they had become good friends.
the night they were supposed to die, isabelle packed her bags and fled to england. she was gone without even so much as a word, sickened by the coven but far too concerned with her own self-preservation to speak out against them. she couldn’t bare to see it, and yet, she did nothing to stop it. every day since then, isabelle wondered what became of louis and claudia. maybe one day she could bare to find out.

Daniel Molloy and his vampire daughter(my hyperfixation self insert OC thing I have when watching IWTV) have the same type….yes it’s as awkward as it sounds….but like look at him…who wouldn’t fall in love with those big ol eyes
To be fair, she was like down to rock with ‘Rashid’ when she saw him in his slutty V neck uniform. Like

Yes sir, looking like a snack in your lil Rashid cosplay
Basically she just becomes Daniel’s assistant when she shows up like ‘surprise dad I’ve been a vampire for like 4 years….dont ask who brought me here cause it wasn’t anyone in this room. Anyway who’s the hot guy in the gloves and slutty black V neck tunic…’
She’s a zillenial vampire version of her father you can imagine how that goes

Quotes about The Vampire Lucrezia “Lucy” Sartori

“Lucrezia was an ever untameable type- which is not to say she was wild. No, she was never anything but put together, never anything out of place. But she was ungovernable. She could never be compelled to join any coven or order, she seemed to wish only ever to be free. A nomad, if she fancied it in the moment- though by this point I believe she spent much of her time in Venice. She's something to behold.”
- The Vampire Armand, Interview with the Vampire
“She was- is, perhaps, one of the more beautiful things I've seen in my afterlife. I don't say this lightly. Beautiful, I think, like a statue is beautiful. Carved from stone, with eyes as red as the blood in her coupe. She was as like to drink from a cup as she was to drink right from her prey. Lucy once told me the myth of the coupe being shaped after Marie Antoinette's breast wasn't true. No, she says it had been shaped after hers.”
- Louis du Pointe du Lac, Interview with the Vampire
[The author notes that Lucy’s alleged dates of birth and transformation do coincide with the invention of the champagne coupe. The author cannot, however, corroborate their likeness to her breasts.]

They struggled to make ends meet in Italy until her father started working for an extremely wealthy family and they grew to middle class status. She met a vampire named Francis in 1868 and she fell in love with him. She let him turn her in 1870, and their relationship since then became rocky. He would go through fits of ignoring her, then love bombing, going back and forth between loving and abusing her verbally and emotionally. In 1875 her brother got deathly ill and she begged Francis to save him, when he didn’t she turned him herself. They stayed together until 1892, when Daria finally left him for good. She traveled around Europe with her twin brother Dario until they immigrated to the United States in 1912, traveling all along the east coast until they settled in New Orleans in 1918, meeting Lestat and Louis there.

Anyone else ever just make OCs for the shows they watch? Like either it’s a self insert or just a character you make to place yourself into the show or movie or book.
Here are mine for interview with vampire the vampire (2022) under the cut
-Valia de Romanus (she took Marius last name out more convince then anything else) , turned around the time of Armand, has been his romantic, and emotional companion (they have a very asexual relationship because that’s what they both need from the other) and well she sort of is always with Armand, like a lil shadow. But in a good way. She has wanted to violate the 5th, with both Lestat and Louis and most of the coven.
-Valarie ‘Val’ Molloy, youngest daughter of Daniel, she got turned by a vampire and basically had to hack her dads comically easy to get into laptop to find out where he was going and she kind of shows up in Dubai like ‘sup dad…and my dads…friends, hey I’m a vampire and I have been hiding in my apartment for 9 months please help me’ and she sort of becomes Daniel’s transcriber for notes and is as sassy as her dad (her and Armand have a weird interest with the other)
-Mani moon, she’s 27 and was turned in like 2018 when she was physically 21, she was turned by some unknown vampire, unsure why, but sort of takes shelter in lestats crypt so to speak in New Orleans, and sort of is his adopted fledgling. It’s more so she catches him rats and other things, he lets her stay in his place and they sort of, orbit the other, she kind of gets his very depressed vibe, and honestly, she doesn’t talk much but they have had some nice conversations. She knows about Louis sort of, a little about a girl she’s heard him whisper about named Claudia but doesn’t ask. She is ace, and just trying to vibe while learning what the whole vampire thing is about
This is her standing behind Louis when lestat tells her and his fledgling to get out just
“You got this not vampire dad, good luck”

“There was something about you that now I can’t remember/It’s the same damn thing that made my heart surrender/And I’ll miss you on a train/I’ll miss you in the morning/I never know what to think about/I think about you”

Leonora & Theodore
“I died with him. I am an immortal ghost. All I wish for is death, and you won’t let me die.”
“And I lie to her/And say that I’m doing fine/When really I’d kill myself/To hold you one more time/And it hurts to miss you/But it’s worse to know/That I’m the reason/You won’t come home”
