#introducing jellal!

More ToH Children Headcanons:
For @dirtmanwalking :)
Simon used to make the group meditate once they started using magic. Claiming they needed 'a sound mind and body' but it was mostly just to get them all to chill out
Contrary to popular belief, Erza is closest to Shô out of the whole group
Erik would bring his snake around and introduce her to all the kids
Wally has mandatory movie nights. Jellal nearly cried the first time he was invited
Simon has two graves. One where the tower of heaven was and one in a cemetery by Kagura
The Oracion Seis used to play a secret game of house. Kids weren’t allowed to have fun so it had to done quietly.
Millianna owns several cats and volunteers at a nearby shelter in her free time
Shô and Wally send postcards to Fairy Tail and Mermaid Heel every time they visit a new place
Kagura is an honorary member of the toh family. She's in the group chat (because of course they have a gc lol)

Is Erik South Asian / Indian coded?
This post isn’t going to be as extensive as my other FT posts, but I am going to put out thoughts of mine that have been playing in my head for some time now. Along with my observance of ‘Jellal wearing kohl’ and ‘Why aren’t the ladies of FT wearing panties anymore’ , I have another I want to put out today.
I think Erik (Cobra) of OS/CS is South Asian coded.
Tumblr media
Specifically Indian.
I will list the evidence and explain my train of thought underneath.
Admittedly though , a lot of my reasons are for visual representations I have seen of him in both manga and official art, so I am not sure how solid my connections are for the HCs but I will say them either way.
Clothing pattern
Let’s start with the first reason why I believe Erik to be SA coded.
Tumblr media
This is an image of Erik/Cobra from the official manga during the Nirvana Arc
Sadly the intricate design of many characters' clothes are omitted/reduced when animating, Erik here being no exception. And though I understand why, it’s a shame as so many details get taken out which could help piece some more information on the characters which aren’t told upfront.
In the manga, Erik is introduced with a piece that includes a paisley design (the teardrop shaped pattern) on the inner parts and cuffs of his coat. Why this is important to note is because the paisley design is something that is known to be a widespread clothing print all across Asia, namely South Asia/South-west Asia!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This Kameez (South Asian tunic) of mine has the ‘paisley’ pattern which is on Erik’s coat
Tumblr media
Of course it is possible that the pattern on his inner coat/cuff could just be for the sake of fashion with no cultural significance, but taking in mind my next points I think it makes the argument of Erik being SA/Indian coded stronger.
Jewelry
This may come off as a weaker point I admit, but Erik’s use of jewelry also reminds me of SA heritage. His rings and armlet (or what I learned is called an arm-ring).
Tumblr media
This opinion is purely subjective. I can admit that, but me coming from SA heritage myself, his use of jewelry resonates with the way I've seen it being used in my own culture; such as the design , what patterns it is being paired with, the use of adornment. It really reminds me of SA fashion and tradition.
But I want to be more objective in my reasoning so I looked up why his use of jewelry in the manga does resonate with SA heritage and found some things.
Tumblr media
The armlet/arm-ring that Erik has on his coat in the manga is similar to that used in Indian heritage.
Tumblr media
Fair in Indian tradition it’s used as a bridal jewelry (Vanki) for the women, but it was the closest I could find that was similar to what he had for my argument. It might be a reach though and I can accept that.
Now I will go onto my other point as to why I believe Erik is SA/Indian coded.
Salwar in game card
Tumblr media
Another clothing observation, but his trouser reminds me of a salwar with a slit at the bottom. The slit is a bit higher than what I am accustomed to but I have seen clothing like this in SA heritage.
Tumblr media
It’s not overly common but you can see where the influence comes from-
But let me go onto the main reason I have always thought Erik to have some ties to SA (but specifically India).
Cobra
As everyone knows his name when introduced is Cobra, however what this name also holds significance with, is the fact that India’s national reptile is actually the Cobra too!
Tumblr media
King Cobra to be exact!
Tumblr media
And on top of that in Hindu mythology, the cobra is a greatly respected and revered figure, literally seen as a deity and I believe that ties in well with Erik’s connection with snakes/cobra.
Tumblr media
Erik
And the last point I want to make is that even his name can be found in South Asia too , just in case people want to counter the argument that the HC is improbable due to him having a European name.
Tumblr media
As it can be seen the name Erik can be found near everywhere in the world, predominantly in places with European connections but also in Asia too.
And since I am arguing Erik being possibly Indian coded, I will show the statistics for his name there.
Tumblr media
1,386 incidents of the name in the country! That is not a small number even if minute compared to the density of the population.
Tumblr media
Map of India with distribution of the name Erik. (the darker red parts show a larger population of Eriks)
It’s very possible though Erik’s name could be from another SA country too. Or maybe he’s a case of being biracial with both SA heritage and something else.
But I could see him being fully SA too since despite the Christian / European origin of the name, there’s a lot of POC who give names like that possibly due to following Christianity or just out of preference! (and personally I know this is a trend in South Asian communities)
But I guess we will never know unless Mashima sheds some light on Erik’s background. ^^'
Now with all this evidence presented, you can judge for yourselves if Erik’s design/clothing and connection to cobras is merely a coincidence and i’m reaching or is he possibly a SA/Indian coded character?
Tumblr media
Thank you all for taking the time to read this <3 Also big thanks to @jerzaworms for helping me find some of the evidence to help supplement this post and strengthen the argument of this hc!

Time to rant about the Alvarez arc and issues I had with it once more now that I've posted some spriggan redesigns. This might be long.
The largest reason Alvarez and anything following Tartaros fall so flat is because you can almost tell Mashima was checked out by that point. That his excitement for the series had dwindled.
I have this theory that Tartaros was meant to be the last arc of the series but there were still things unanswered meaning that he was forced into adding more on. Now I don't say this as someone who thinks tartaros should've been the end, but because none of the villains after this point have any weight to them when honestly they should. All the reveals feel like they're done to surprise the audience more than flesh out the story.
I'm someone who always hated the Irene as Erza's mom plot because we really didn't need it. It was a trend of "villain is a blood relative" twists mashima kept throwing in and by that point it was honestly more annoying than anything. Erza never had questions about her family. She was never focused on her past so introducing her mother felt so out of left field. Irene literally could've just been the person who was in charge of creating the tower of Heaven, maybe she was even the on who corrupted Jellal, and that would've done far more towards making me invested in a showdown between her and Erza than anything in canon.
In general the Spriggan 12 being set up as characters involved in the various arcs would've been so beneficial because it would've given readers actual reasons to be angry or upset. What if Invel was the one who created Deliora and consistently tried to create new ice demons to impress Zeref. What if Layla's death was originally believed to be an accident but as time goes on Lucy uncovers more deaths and incidents connected to her mother that eventually lead back to Brandish. The tartaros group answering to August, who is still devote to Zeref, giving us a more solid reason to believe him as a Wizard king and actual tangible terror at the thought of facing him if tartaros itself would bend to him.
And this isn't even getting into how all their designs seem so slapped together causing them to look more like mid level/filler villains than actual final arc antagonists. Compare them to any of the tartaros characters and it just instantly becomes so obvious which ones Mashima actually cared about. By that point he knew he just had to make the women scantily clad and his die hard fans would ignore everything else. Jacob Lessio is one of the first Spriggan I think of whenever I get angry over how rushed their designs are.
Even Zeref himself felt so disappointing as a villain because any hype built for him really peaked during the tartaros arc. I was sure he'd be the one to appear instead of Mard Geer. It felt like that's what tartaros was building to. But instead we someone new and Zeref was pushed back. We could talk about him torturing Mavis and how Mashima still wanted to paint things between them as romantic because heaven forbid Mavis actually be a human with emotions who gets mad and vengeful when she's hurt, but we'll move on.
Beyond just this, Alvarez kingdom could've been so very interesting to have in the background, mentioned every now and then off handedly by side characters or guild members when discussing the world around them. This idea of it always existing but just never seeming important to our leads who aren't thinking about the political side of things. Us getting Alvarez hints early on and Alvarez only increasing in importance would've been something for fans to hold onto and engage with.
Mashima really dropped the ball on the series following Tartaros from the gray villain arc that amounted to nothing, a 1 year time skip setting up Natsu and Lucy collecting guild members that ended with everyone miraculously back at the guild with no persuasion necessary, to his final antagonists carrying non of the weight he wanted because titles don't create fear. And it makes me so incredibly furious because all it would've taken was actual care and interest in his own creation.

Rambling about Fairies - Manga Chapter 189
Tumblr media
I forgot if I talked about all the parallels between Mystogan and Jellal before, so might as well do it again anyways.
Jellal is introduced to us as this big behind-the-scenes guy in the council. He's always involved one way or another, he's mysterious, he seems to have something up his sleeves, and he provides support to Fairy Tail (whether with good intentions or not) anything opportune. That's exactly like Mystogan, though Mystogan runs more unseen.
They're similar in almost ironic ways.
Jellal was the lord of the tower of heaven, a king ruling a country that only served him thorugh a false narrative painting Erza as the villain and him as the savior. Mystogan, too, is the king of Edolas, ruling a country that worships him as a hero-- they brand the earthlanders as the villains, so he's the one hero of the story that saved the world.
While Jellal is notorious for always showing up and everyone's blood running cold at the sight of him, why can't he stay dead? --- but when Mystogan shows up, everyone burst into tears of joy, because there he is! There he is! They're overjoyed to see him alive and well.
The character of Jellal and Mystogan are fascinating, yes.
I do wish we got more scenes of Lily meeting Earthland Jellal. There was potential there. I think Lily would hit him.

Memes aside, Jellal & Mystogan have many parallels with 90s Sailor Moon anime Tuxedo Mask. Just off the top of my head, in the first two seasons Mamoru
is introduced as a quite a jerk in the beginning (out-of-the-mask at least)
gets brainwashed by a woman with a crystal ball who acts on behalf of some bigger evil and probably was also manipulated (Queen Beryl) and temporarily acts as an antagonist, doesn't stop him from flirting with the love of his life though
loses his memory after (nearly?) dying being blasted to smithereens in a remote location (although all of the main cast do)
temporarily assumes another identity hiding his face (Moon Knight or something like that, compare to Jellal playing role of Mystogan during GMG)
might be mistaken here, but the thing that tickled his lost memory was also his love's hair (the signature odango hairstyle)
was a prince in the past life, becomes a king in the future, in between plays a role of occasional helper
speaking of which, there are 2 other versions besides the present/main one (past life Endymion, future king Endymion, but that also goes for the rest of main cast), that are almost treated as separate characters (the present and future ones even meet each other as there's time travel involved)
there's a break-up at some point where he lies about the true reason, because "the world will perish" or something (compare to Jellal's "fiancee")
the future king version has a daughter named after her mother (grandmother for Mystogan's case)
first met the love of his life when they were little, at least in current life, as was revealed later (it might have been a scene from one of the movies though)
capes, most of his outfits (that aren't normal civilian) have capes
Perhaps the anime staff were onto something when they gave Erza a magic girl transformation in season 1 (which contradicted the fastest requip claim, but that's not the point here).

The new 100YQ volume cover 🥰
Tumblr media
I actually wanna talk about this. For years before the Alvarez arc I headcannoned that Wendy was Erza and Jellal's future daughter. Not even as a joke. I was convinced that was her origin. But then Mashima revealed the 400 years Eclipse Gate storyline and I just... kinda hate it. Only in Wendy's case. The rest of them can be 400+ idc. And it's not just because I'm a Jerza shipper. I just really think that Wendy is the perfect combination of Erza and Jellal. In looks, in personality, in power. She has had the closest connection to them (including Mystogan/King Jellal) ever since she was introduced.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I had this idea that for whatever reason Wendy was sent back in time by her parents (Jellal and Erza) to a couple years before X777 and was found by Grandine. And you know what. I can still believe that. And Grandine can actually dissappear in the year X777 apart from the other dragons. And we still don't know anything about Wendy's parents. Wendy literally only mentioned the idea of having parents for the first time just now, in this volume.
Tumblr media
And I like to think there's more to Irene and Wendy's compatibility than just being dragon slayers and enchanters. It could also be because they are related by blood. Anyway I've just always adored the dynamic between Erza and Wendy. Whether Jellal is involved or not they were always like mother and daughter. Its different from how Wendy sees Natsu as an older brother. She definitely seems to have a maternal bond with Erza.
So yea I'm completely serious about this and if Wendy absolutely has to be from 400 years ago then she was sent all the way back there for whatever reason by accident and then went with Anna through Eclipse 😂 but in my head she's not and I like it that way. In my head Wendy's backstory is completely different from the other dragon slayers. And if nothing else Erza can just adopt her.

After @celestialulu 's post about Nasha's character design, I made a small and simple theory.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the official design of Nasha made by Hiro and Atsuo when she was first introduced in the manga.
Tumblr media
If we match it with Natsu and Lucy's design- Nasha has Lucy face, her eyes and the exact smile. Which is really cool. But her hair, that's where my problem starts. Her hair is made to match Natsu's spiky pink ones but the spikes seem a bit off to me at least. It would be better if she had curly or even straight(as Lucy's) pink hair or a mix of pink and blonde maybe?
Let's take a look at Greige's official design and his parents'-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Greige has Juvia's eyes(the lower lashes were more prominent in her old design) and the natural expressions of Gray. His hair colour is a mix of them- light Blue and Raven. Which I think is cool in terms of design.
Tumblr media
Greige doesn't have any specific thing which reflects either Gray or Juvia instead he's actually a mix of both. Hiro did a good job here.
Now Justin's turn-
Tumblr media
Justin has big eyes like Erza and almost the same smile as her. His hair color is obviously a mix of his parents- Blue and Red/Scarlet. It's straight as his mother's and the edges are like his Jellal's.
Tumblr media
Hiro also did a good job here I'd say. He's a mix of both Erza and Jellal.
My speculations are : when Mashima first time tried to draw the new gen kids, or when he tried to draw Nasha, he explicitly reflected Natsu's design onto her. Even in his recent video he used Nasha as a reference to how children usually inherit either their mother or father's hair colour. Imo he just wanted to actually make it look like Natsu's child before he did something cool and unique with her.
I think Nasha wearing Natsu's scarf really made sense(kudos to Hiro) and her having her mother's looks, expressions was also cool. But the hair and the outfit bothers me, esp the outfit. I mean having pink hair is perfectly fine like I said but the spikes are funny? Why're they like that anyway?
And the outfit is absolutely ridiculous. As I stated before, Hiro really wanted Nasha to look like a daddy's girl so he went out of his way to give her Natsu's vest(?!) and then just added Lucy's top.
Tumblr media
I can totally see in each of the kids that Mashima likes to reflect their parents' attributes/clothing styles onto their own. Greige has Gray's fur coat and Juvia also wears furry clothes, Justin has a Blue suit and a red tie.
Tumblr media
But you don't just go and pick their father's vest and mother's top and put it on them Hiro.
I think Edo Nasha's clothes are way better than the og one. She has a designed scarf with flames on it which refers to her Edo Natsu's og design and it's also his attribute. I wonder if we'll go back to the vest and top one once we get our Nasha(?!)
There's nothing to say about Greige since his clothes are the same, it matches both Gray and Edo Gray's design.
All in all, I can die for my babies' baby but I'm sad that Hiro didn't do justice to her design. He could do far better than this. I'm never wrong to express my disappointment about a character I love that could receive more.
Imo, Griege and Justin's designs are done better than Nasha's.

meta: fashion // for kagura
send a meta topic // always accepting
i love this topic a lot, i've already got a post on her clothes but I'm always happy to talk about it! i also have a pinterest section for her clothes.
Kagura uses clothes as a way to maintain control, and like Erza, her clothes are an armour. When she was first introduced, her style was very structured but still feminine, on a more formal side, and with no extra skin showing whatsoever. She has a strong aversion to touch and her use of gloves has long been her most obvious means of protection against it.
Tumblr media
Post-gmg and working through her issues around Jellal and Simon, making progress in her emotional growth, and in becoming willing to open up to others more, her style changed. She wears looser fitting outfits, typically kimonos and hakama pants, and her palette includes more colours and patterns. She also wears her gloves less (around people she trusts).
Tumblr media
Her form fitting clothes were suitable for battles/jobs, and so are still her preferred when going on missions or for any situation where she (subconsciously) feels like she needs extra control.
Evie is the biggest reason why Kagura always looks fashionable, as she has been the one filling Kagura's wardrobe since the girl joined the guild at 10years old. Evie would take Kagura with her and take note of her interests, then buy the clothes that suited that. For a long time, Kagura never allowed herself to have an interest in shopping or clothes, however now that she is not consumed by vengeance, she has become more interested in it and takes a more active role in her wardrobe purchases. Over the past few years, Evie has only purchased the occasional item for Kagura, whenever she came across something that seemed particularly her.
Kagura doesn't particularly keep up with the latest trends in fashion, but she will listen with interest whenever one of her guildmates or Jenny brings it up. She now also allows herself to notice/admire the fashion and style of other people more.

FFXIVMixedMay - Day 1: Introduction
A brief summary about my characters:
Jellal: Ala Mhigo born, former conscript and Magitek Engineer, the Miqo'te Seeker specialized as a sniper during his combat years but has since settled down a bit, gotten married and taken up bounty hunting. He has a gruff and stand-offish nature but is loyal to those he holds close and will protect them at all costs, even the annoys ones... His main vice is smoking, but he's cut back significantly thanks to his wife. Currently he has a workshop set up that allows him to work on various magitek projects and weapons. Tlalli: TBA (Pronounced Tah-lee) I will be expanding upon her once Dawntrail has dropped and I have more Lore. She is spicy :P
Diarmune: Gleaner, author and Seedkin specialist, he is a sweet well mannered scholar born and raised in Thavnair. Son to a silk maker and tailoress, he has developed a wide range of skills over his fifty-five years of life. Having been across multiple continents in search of rare and desired plants and flowers, as well as studying various seedkin from around the world. His specialty is Morbols, having even raised one of his own as a companion creature and study it. Her name is Dahlia. He speaks with a Thavnarian accent and has a very smooth tone, though sometimes he can talk a little too quiet. Not a fan of sweet, he instead loves spiced foods with lots of flavors and some heat. His mother makes the best curry, according to him.
Ame: A child of Doma, she was born into nobility but was forced to face the world after her home was razed to the ground. Sheltered and with no real survival skills she relied heavily on her partner to help navigate this dangerous world. Determined to help, she was introduced to Astromancy and pursued it over the years in the hopes of aiding others and doing her part. When not at the infirmary she runs the Pink Lotus Tea House and Cafe. Ame has a very motherly nature and often takes on the role of therapist in her company. Her favorite color is pink.
N'akani: Born to the 'N' tribe she fled her home as a young teen after her father, the Nuhn, was murdered under deception from a rival, and she was taken as a reward. Living as a street rat in Ul'Dah she survived on wits and trickery, eventually getting out of her life of thievery and catfishing and settling into a more stable life with her partners. She is obsessed with gold, be it the color, the coin or anything that is shiny and opulent looking. If it's gold, she wants it. While N'akani has some combat training she is not a fighter by trade, and lists her career as Make-up Artist and Body Painter, specializing in henna style designs, glam and theatre makeup. Flirty and very friendly, she can be deceptively sweet, especially if she wants something.
Isanii: Steppes born, she trained at a young age as a priestess and midwife among the Kagon tribe, however after her brother went missing she set out on a journey to find him that took nearly ten years. In the end she succeeded and through her journey also met her mate. She is a sweet bubbly woman, and while she may not be the most clever creature, the Xaela makes up for it in being a very kind and loving person. She is currently learning how to read. The most time consuming task in her day is combing through her incredibly long hair, and she has a penchant for sweets and treats. Due to her strong moral grounds as a priestess, Isanii will not lie, which can occasionally lead to some awkward conversations. She suffers from an autoimmune condition and often falls ill, forcing her to live a fairly docile life due to her weakened body.
Tsirae: An Ishgardian Knight, he is the youngest of four sons, but the only Bastard, and shares a father with the other three. During the Dragonsong War he fought along side his closest friends and lost many during the battles, leaving him scarred across his body from the conflict. After the war had ended he would lend his sword to the resistance in Garlemald. Quiet by nature, Tsirae has a noble demeanor and tries his best to always be an upstanding person and embody what being a Knight should be. To protect his home and people, to be honorable and respectful and always maintain his sworn morals. When not in armor, he runs a jewelry business with his partner, that had previously belonged to her father and his, however they have recently retired and signed it over to Tsirae and his partner.
Zhira: A woman who gambled her way to the deed to her ship, Zhira is a Pirate Captain and lives her dreams of the open ocean with a faithful crew and a beautiful ship at her command. She is stubborn and devious in nature, with an eye for expensive items and a strict code, one she enforces on her crew as well. Despite being pirates, she will not deal in the trafficking of lives. Goods and contraband is fine, but not lives. Fiery and loud, she has a presence among her crew and they often would run down other pirates and loot their ships. Currently she has an agreement with the Maelstrom that keeps her out of trouble, but there are always new adventures on the horizon.

Oracion Seis-Building Blocks for Plot
If you ask a Fairy Tail fan “when does the story become more serious?” there is no definite answer. Some may say around Tenrou Island or even early on during the Phantom Lord arc or during the Galuna Island arc. However, Fairy Tail never truly gets serious until later. It just seems to add plot. It just needs to break up the comedy well with backstories and tragedy. However, if you were to ask me I would say the Oracion Seis arc, a great mix of everything Fairy Tail has. It has memorable villains, memorable side characters who hold significance later in the series, and brings in the center plot of Fairy Tail.  Oracion Seis introduces us to the ‘plot’ of Fairy Tail without quite telling us what this plot is. Of course the center plot is having an adventure. Natsu finding Igneel and the others with their lives in Fairy Tail, but it pushes something forward for someone not into the slice of life aspect of Fairy Tail. This, of course, is the idea of the Balam Alliance. An alliance of dark guilds, centered around a center three; Oracion Seis, Grimoire Heart, and Tartaros. Each of these bring excellent arcs to follow their stories but the first one we will talk about will be the first one they truly fight, Oracion Seis.  With the introduction to the Oracion Seis arc comes the introduction to multiple characters as well. Here we find out more details about other guilds other than a piece of Blue Pegasus’ past and the fact that there are more guild masters out there. Here we get main characters that we will be seeing a great deal of through upcoming arcs, though they are pretty much all after the seven year timeskip. We even see some returning ones like Lyon and Sherry, who have moved on from their days trying to revive Deliora and we are introduced to another Wizard Saint, Jura. Of course the main person we are introduced to is Wendy and her cat Carla. I must admit for a great while I hated these two, I felt their introduction is when the show started to get stale. Then over time Wendy began to grow on me as I saw her grow up like you would watching a little girl. Carla, on the other hand, did not grow on me at all and I still have a love hate relationship with her. i wont go into too much detail on the Oracion Seis arc, but I do remember finding it a bit exciting. It is still not in the top quality of arcs in my opinion, but it still holds your attention well enough. I’m here to discuss how Oracion built up the plotline in an intriguing way. Fairy Tail’s plot came pretty late. Of course, as stated before, you have the center plot of a journey still in action. But this is the main plot with actual villains who would want to put an end to the world. The villains this arc make their returns in later arcs, well most of them, and we still watch them grow and develop into their own redemption later on. Having them connected to Tower of Heaven was even better. The way that they are directly tie into Erza and Jellal’s past but still are independent from them (for the most part) is interesting. It goes to show yet another domino that fell into place as the story developed.  Oracion Seis was enough to get us interested in the alliance and the concept of it and make us worry for our characters. Of course they faced difficult opponents before, but nothing like this level. Nothing that required them to work with other guilds, which once again ties into the theme of friendships. It would have been great if we got some Gajeel and Juvia moments with them also defeating parts of the Oracion Seis guild (like we are told they were doing), but I understand why they weren’t there. (I am just dying for more moments with their sibling like bond okay?)  The Oracion Seis guild ad nothing special to it like the others did. The only ‘big connection’ that they had to the characters was Angel being the murderer for Loke’s previous master. It doesn’t stand out to me in an alliance with things such as ‘Grimoire Heart’ and for sure not ‘Tartaros’ with each having great magic users that were extremely dangerous and had slayers and demons. But we can’t all expect it to be that planned out. Oh and I must mention that plot twist at the very end with Wendy’s guild always gets me. She was only twelve when it was ripped away like a Band-Aid and replaced with Fairy Tail. If you say she was there since six years old, that was six years that were spent there roughly only for it to be gone. That will always bring me pain and I’m glad they mentioned it in the Final Arc with them pretending to be in Cait Shelter. Before I end this I would like to say, although I saw it coming a mile away when Yukino mentioned her sister, I love that plot twist. The sibling dynamic between Yukino and Sorano is hilarious. Not to mention this is when we see the real Jellal, who is guilty for his crimes although he doesn’t know what had happened. The pain Erza feels must be so hard, but I’m glad that it is settled now. He definitely deserves it after that chaos. But I would love to hear what you all think about this arc. I wish I could go into more detail, but there isn’t much I can possibly put into words. I was pretty happy with the outcome in the end, especially that scene with everyone holding up Christina while flying it to help Natsu and the gang before crashing again.
Anyways, I’ll see you all later in the Deep End!!

an unpopular opinion:
best ft duo:
what’s your favourite character:
Hi, welcome, I'm the CEO of Minerva Orland, you are in the Minerva love blog, where I love and worship Minerva Orland and every other character comes second. She is everything to me, mosts scrunkly and one of the most complex women in this godforsaken anime. But other faves include Irene, Erza and Lisanna.
favorite ship:
I like the majority of ft femslash ships, but the ones I tend to come back to are YukiNerva (of course), LisVia in particular when Edo!Juvia is involved in one way or another, and LuVia. From the first two I love the angsty concepts that can come up from the dynamics, and with the last one I lean more toward fluff.
favorite arc:
The phantom arc, there are things I don't enjoy in some of the most plot-heavy arcs, but I feel phantom is very well done in regards to how it introduces us to parts of the story of many characters, and it is the first one where there is a change to the status quo what with the guild being destroyed, character dynamics changing and new characters being introduced.
favorite op/ed:
STRIKE BACK MY BELOVED!!! BEST OP EVER My favorite ED...that one is hard, it's a tie between ED3 (gomen ne watashi) because it's very erza and I've a soft spot for it, and ED11 (glitter) cause it's giving me europop vibes. Ahem, also, I made a ranking for the ops in here: X
an unpopular opinion:
Jellal should've died instead of Ultear.
best ft duo:
Gajeel & Juvia. I don't think it's explored enough, but I definitely feel the fact they've known each other since their phantom days and decided to change for the better together speaks of a great understanding in their friendship.
Thanks for the ask!

I cannot stand Jellal Fernandes.
I had to make another account so i’m reposting this here.
Let’s get this straight. I hate Jellal.
I absolutely despise him.
Him as a character is bad enough, and the way the fandom acts towards him too.
He was a great villain when he first was introduced. His backstory was actually well written at the beginning: a child slave gets possessed, goes insane and takes over the Tower of Heaven, leading it and enslaving the other children himself.
The problem comes after the ToH arc, after he kills Simon and almost kills Erza.
He gets reintroduced in the Nirvana arc, and it shows how he survived for some reason (Mashima being unable to be consistent as an author could be one) to all that Ethernano that poisoned his body after losing to Natsu.
He gets revived by Wendy and then, after being half-dead for months not remembering anything (except the name of love interest lmao) he activates Nirvana like a fucking idiot.
Now. Let’s focus on the fact that, after discovering Jellal is alive and is still doing damage to the world (since he just activated Nirvana) and after Erza explaines to him the damage he has done to such an amount of people she then slaps him when he says he wants to die, because he “has to atone for his sins”.
While in other circumstances this could have made perfect sense, the point is that Jellal’s actions cannot be forgiven.
It’s just too much.
He can feel guilty, he absolutely has to, and, if this was a realistic story and if Mashima was a good author, it wouldn’t matter how much will there is to pay for his sins, how much grief he feels, he cannot expect forgivness. And he shouldn’t be forgiven.
And yes, i’m aware of the fact that he was possessed by Ultear (another example of Mashima’s incapability to make his story make sense, i’ll make another post about it) but you know what? I don’t care. I don’t care because being possessed isn’t a justification.
Being possessed doesn’t mean he didn’t cause pain. He did, and he caused a lot of pain.
Being possessed doesn’t give you a passepartout for redemption.
But no, for some reason Erza (and Fairy Tail in general) decide to forgive him because he’s “showing that he has good in him”. As if that could erase his despicable actions.
Actually, I know the reason. And it’s the pathetic love interest. Because yeah, after being tortured and stripped from your childhood and freedom by the most terrible traitor of this entire manga, it’s completely normal to fall in love with him the moment you see him again after he murdered one of the friends you shared you slavery years with. What the fuck is your problem, Mashima? Who the hell made you think this was a good idea for romance? Am I the only one that thinks this is completely fucked up in so many ways?
And you know what? Erza shouldn’t be the only one to have a saying in this.
She escaped before Jellal took over. He let her go. You know who should also have a saying in this? The people that had to hold on for another ten years of being enslaved by Jellal.
It wasn’t just Erza who was in the ToH, you know? What about all the other people that were there and managed to escape (because a lot of people died while being tortured and never got the chance to see light again, people seem to forget about that)? I don’t think they would be happy to know that the person who did that to them now wants forgivness because he turned good for the love interest.
And the thing that enrages me the most about this man, is that after all the damage he caused them, after all the pain he put them through, he had the audacity to beat the Oracion Seis into joining his excuse of a guild because he wanted redemption for himself. The people he once enslaved, he took them again against their will, showing down their throat his own idea of freedom, said that the freedom they seeked was a lie because he wanted to show off saying “look, look at me! I took these bad people and put them in my lame ass guild because I decided that we’re good because we want to defeat Zeref! They didn’t have a choice tho” just because he wants to convince himself that he’s doing good.
He did exactly the same thing he did in the ToH.
The real good thing to do, if he really cared for their freedom, was letting these people find their own way.
To let them have a chance to rest after 20+ years of imprisonement.
To let them have a chance to live for the first time the life he took away from them.

This was requested on Wattpad by Bellaboo097023.
It is flipping hot and the air conditioner broke, so I'm writing this in the dark while I'm practically sweating. Fuck summer. I'm over this. I'm also learning how to write and send a letter because my partner is at basic training. That's pretty fun.
Everyone, I'm sure that you're also dealing with terrible heat, at least to some degree. Please, take care of yourselves. Drink plenty of water, stay as cool as you can, and keep an eye on any friends and families that may be negatively affected by the heat. Stay safe! I love all of you!
Also, a quick heads up, I am looking toward graduating high school in December (a whole semester early) by taking two college classes, and I am aiming for an internship with a college history teacher. If I don't get an internship, then I will be getting a job. This is so I'll have an extra A that'll boost my GPA. Because of this, updates on my works will probably slow down a bit, depending on the hours that I'll be spending doing either schoolwork, internship work, or just normal work. I do not have any plans of abandoning you, so do not worry about that. It's just that since I am getting ready to start the college phase of my life, I might be a bit slow on updates. It's too soon to say though, but I'll keep you updated on that, if you are interested.
I hope you enjoy!
Jellal and Lucy?! (Jellal x Lucy ft. Team Natsu)
Lucy stepped off of the train and looked down at the job request she had taken. After checking the listed address of the job requester and began making her way there. After Erza went on another date with her partner whom she hadn't yet introduced to the guild, Natsu and Lisanna went on a job, and Gray went to Lamia Scale to visit Lyon, Lucy decided to take a solo job. She liked the idea of earning a full reward and not having to fix the destruction that her team would leave behind.
She took a job that looked more difficult than the rest. Take down a small dark guild. She already had a plan. Have a few of her spirits fight the dark mages while she uses her star dresses to fight the master. It was a great plan in her mind. The reward was great too. three-hundred-thousand jewel. She smiled, excited to fight this dark guild and get her money.
She had found the job requester and got the location of the dark guild's hideout by the end of the day. She trudged through the nearby woods, looking for a clearing with a large building in the middle of it when she heard rustling in the undergrowth behind her. Lucy swung around and pointed Loke's key outward, ready to summon him and fight alongside him. She was just about to call out the Zodiac celestial spirit when a man that she recognized emerged from the undergrowth.
She sighed as she hooked Loke's key back onto her keyring and lightly scolded, "Jellal! You scared me! I thought that you were and dark mage and was just about to summon Loke to beat you up!"
Jellal chuckled as he approached her, responding, "sorry, Lucy. What are you doing here? Where is your team?"
Lucy answered, "they are doing their own things. I'm here on a solo job."
Jellal nodded as he walked in the direction Lucy had been walking in and Lucy walked right next to him. The blue-haired man asked, "came to fight a dark guild here?"
Lucy nodded, guessing, "you're coming after the same guild?"
Jellal nodded, giving her a smile. Lucy blushed and looked away. For some time now she's had a crush on Jellal. She never thought much about it at first, but as it remained and grew, she's had difficulty ignoring it. She doubted that he felt the same way, so she quickly decided that she'd complete this job as soon as possible, collect her reward, and head back to Magnolia before she ended up making a fool of herself.
Her attention was drawn back to the independent mage next to her when he gently elbowed her and suggested, "mind if I help you? You never know what could happen when fighting a dark guild and it might be good if I assist you." He then quickly added, "I'm not calling you weak or incapable of handling yourself! I just don't want you to get into serious danger. Dark guilds are unpredictable."
Lucy chuckled before she answered, "I wouldn't mind the help." She really didn't mind fighting a dark guild with Jellal. It would give her a chance to get a bit closer to him without running the risk of making a fool of herself because she'll be too focused on fighting this dark guild. She also liked the idea of spending some time with him since it had been several weeks since the last time she had seen him and his guildmates.
She asked as they stepped over a fallen tree, "where are your guildmates? I would've expected to see them with you."
Jellal shoved his hands into his coat pockets as he answered, "their fighting other dark guilds. I decided to fight this one on my own since it's small." Lucy nodded. So, his reason for coming after this dark guild was the same as hers. She was sure now that defeating this dark guild would be very easy with Jellal joining her.
She was about to continue talking to him but was quickly stopped when Jellal stopped walking and grabbed her arm, bringing her to a stop. He pointed ahead of them, whispering, "the dark guild's headquarters is right there. Just through the trees."
Lucy stared ahead. She leaned closer to Jellal to better see through the mess of trees, at the large building that looked like a warehouse. She noticed Jellal shifting away from her, causing the blonde to look at him and see him looking away with a slightly pink color on his cheeks. Assuming that he was uncomfortable with how close she had gotten to him, Lucy leaned away. She felt her cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
She questioned in a whisper, "what do you think we should do?"
Jellal asked with a low, joking tone, "did you not have a plan when you came here?"
Lucy answered, "well, I was planning to fight the master while my spirits fought the other mages, however, that was before you showed up."
Jellal chuckled. He then responded, "how about this? You fight the master and I fight the rest of the guild."
Lucy inquired, "do you want me to summon any of my spirits to help you?"
The blue-haired man shook his head, reassuring her, "I'll be fine on my own."
Lucy nodded. The pair crept forward and peered through the undergrowth that they hid behind at the building. Jellal whispered, "it'll be easier for me if either most or all of the dark mages come out of their hideout. I'll be able to ambush them and fight in a wide-open space. Do you have a spirit that can bring them out?"
Lucy nodded. She unhooked Virgo's key and turned around, pointing the blade of the key away from her and calling, "Open! Gate of the Maiden: Virgo!"
With a flash of golden light and the chime of a large bell, Virgo stood in front of Lucy. She bowed and spoke, "you summoned me, Princess? Is it punishment time?"
Lucy shook her head with a sigh as she hear Jellal next to her stifle a laugh. She then instructed, "we need the dark mages inside that building to come outside. Can you bring them out?"
Virgo responded, "of course, Princess," before she used her Diver spell to disappear underground. Lucy and Jellal turned around and watched for the dark mages they were targeting to run outside.
They heard the sound of Virgo emerging from the ground inside of the hideout, which was followed by the sound of magical attacks being launched. Within a few minutes, Virgo emerged from the hideout, followed by ten mages. Lucy asked, "how many mages are there in this guild? The job requester didn't specify that."
Jellal answered, "ten in total, not including the master. That's all of them."
They waited for Virgo to disappear back to the Celestial Spirit World before they jumped out of their hiding place. Jellal launched his surprise attack on the dark mages as Lucy raced into the hideout, placing her hand over her keys. The doors slammed shut, causing her to nearly jump out of her skin.
She turned back around to find a man sitting on what looked like a throne in the middle of the room. He stood up and sneered with an unsettling grin, "so, you're going to fight me all on your own, little missy? How laughable." He then followed his words up with a cackle.
Lucy unhooked Loke's key. She pointed the blade away from her and called, "Open! Gate of the Lion: Loke!"
Her faithful celestial spirit and close friend appeared, saying, "your knight has arrived, Princess."
Lucy then pointed the key's blade at herself and spoke with a strong voice, "Star Dress: Leo Form!" She became engulfed in a golden light and when it faded, she was clad in an elegant outfit that fit beside Loke's suit.
The spirit next to her smoothly remarked as he wrapped an arm around her waist, "my, my, Princess. You look gorgeous in that outfit. I wonder what you'd look like in a wedding dress. Care to find out sometime in the near future?"
Lucy gently pushed him away with a sigh, responding, "focus on fighting this guy, you troublesome lion." The pair then bolted forward, attacking the dark guild master.
After Lucy and Loke had gone back and forth with the surprisingly weak man, the celestial wizard had delivered a Regulus Lucy Kick to the dark mage's back, sending him flying toward Loke who used a Regulus punch to finish him off.
Lucy, not feeling at all tired despite the fight, thanked Loke and sent him back to the Celestial Spirit World before she exited the building. She found the dark mages scattered around the clearing, unconscious. She watched as Jellal strolled toward her, a smile on his face. He asked, "ready to get your reward?" Lucy nodded and the two mages walked back to the job requester.
After the job requester had handed Lucy the reward money, she took out one-hundred-fifty thousand jewel and handed it to Jellal. The blue-haired man looked at the money before he turned his gaze to Lucy, an eyebrow raised, and he asked, "what are you doing?"
Lucy responded, "giving you half of the reward. You help so I think that's only fair if we split the reward."
Jellal chuckled as he pushed the money away, saying, "I don't want any part of the reward."
Lucy exclaimed, "but, you helped me by fighting the guild members so I could fight the master! I need to thank you in some way!"
Jellal looked away for a few moments, appearing to be thinking over her words, before he looked back at her and suggested, "if you really want to thank me, then how about you go on a date with me?"
Lucy stared at him dumbstruck. Was Jellal actually asking her on a date? Like, a date that couples go on? Did he feel the same way about her? She was snapped out of her thoughts when Jellal began chuckling at her reaction. He then said, "I would love to go on a date with you, Lucy. A romantic type of date."
Lucy blushed deeply at what he had said. Jellal really was asking her on a date! She couldn't remember the last time she felt this happy! She nodded her head furiously, exclaiming, "yes! Yes, I would love to!"
Jellal chuckled as he held out his arm for her to take, saying, "then let's go get some food. How does that sound?"
Lucy hooked her arm with his and answered, "sounds great!"
Two weeks.
That's how long Lucy had been away from Fairy Tail. She and Jellal would go out together every day and talk, getting to know each other better and falling in love. However, Jellal had not asked Lucy to be his girlfriend, much to the blonde woman's dismay. Was Jellal not as interested in her as she was in him after all?
They were sitting on a park bench, talking and laughing, when Natsu, Gray, and Erza suddenly appeared in front of them. Lucy and Jellal stared up at them in surprise. The three mages had their arms crossed over their chests and they looked less than pleased. Lucy swallowed thickly, afraid that her teammates would disapprove.
She stood up and asked sheepishly, "Hey, guys. What are you doing here?"
Gray was the one that answered, "you've been gone for two weeks, Lucy. What have you been doing?"
Lucy rubbed her upper arm, unsure of what to say for fear of how her friends would react. Should she say that she was hanging out with Jellal? But, how would that be an excuse for not returning to the guild for two weeks? Should she say that she's been dating Jellal? Honestly, she wasn't even sure if she and he were dating. Did she have any right to call him her boyfriend when he hadn't asked her to be his girlfriend?
As Lucy was struggling to come up with an answer for her protective teammates, she felt Jellal wrap an arm around her waist and answer for her, "I'm sorry for keeping Lucy away from Fairy Tail for so long. We've been having so much fun together that we both didn't notice how much time had passed."
Erza raised an eyebrow as she asked, "why are you spending so much time with her, Jellal?"
The blue-haired man answered with a smile, "she's my girlfriend. Why wouldn't I spend time with her?"
The three mages in front of the couple exclaimed with surprise, "what?!" while Lucy stared up at him in just as much surprise.
Jellal looked down at her and said, "if it's okay for me to call you that."
Lucy pressed a kiss to his cheek and said, "of course it's okay."
The pair were then enveloped by Erza in a hug. Once the red-haired woman pulled away, she said as she brushed away a single tear, "I'm so happy for both of you." She then turned around to look back at her other two friends and asked them, "what about you two?"
The shirtless Gray answered with a smile, "as long as he doesn't hurt her, I support it."
Natsu, however, crossed his arms over his chest and looked away, answering, "I don't like it. I don't think he's good enough for you, Luce."
Lucy glared at her best friend as she scolded him, "well, I love him and I think he's good enough, so I'm going to be with him whether you like it or not."
Natsu huffed and turned away. Gray rolled his eyes and said, "he'll get over it."
Lucy smiled, knowing that once they got back to Fairy Tail, Natsu would be completely supportive of her relationship. She then leaned up to kiss Jellal, feeling him kiss back immediately.

Sawyer/Levy: Stay
"Can someone stay back and help me out?" Levy called into the nearly empty guild hall. It had been a rare quiet night at Fairy Tail, with the majority of the guild members out on jobs; hardly surprising given the recent announcement from Makarov that the S-Class promotion trials would be resuming. Levy herself wasn't super concerned with them - what had happened during the previous trial had soured her to the idea of being S-Class, at least for the time being, though Jet and Droy were giving the opportunity their full attention.
So when silence met her request, she wasn't entirely surprised. She shrugged, mostly to herself, and turned to leave.
"What do you need help with?" an unfamiliar voice suddenly asked her, close by.
Levy jolted a little, her heart pounding as she looked at the man standing next to her... who had definitely not been there a moment before. He looked a little... rough. Levy recognized him as a newer member - someone who had joined along with Jellal. She hadn't really had a chance to interact with him yet, but the blonde man seemed decent; he tended to keep to himself and his friends from Crime Sorciere or sometimes spoke with Mirajane and Gray.
When she had collected her breath once again, she responded, "Yeah, thanks. I need help putting back some materials from the records room." She hesitated, searching her memories for his name.
The man smiled at her, and held out his hand. "I'm Sawyer. Sorry if we've already been introduced - I'm still trying to remember everyone's names."
His kind offer of a way out of her embarrassment brought out an answering smile on Levy's face. She took his hand and shook it. "I'm Levy McGarden."
As they made their way to the records room, Levy suddenly asked, "Do you like to read?"
"Never really had the opportunity to do much reading in the past," he confessed. "Any recommendations?"
Beaming, Levy did just that.
Before long, the pair were chatting like long time friends.

Prince of the Stars / Chapter 6
Surprise Surprise
The Paladins, Galran Prince, and the two wizards we're all gathered in the lounge area of The Castle of Lions. Most of the Paladins we're chatting quietly about the two new guests who had just boarded the ship. Keith and Lance we're speculating on how the bluenette and scarlet redhead had gotten here, while Hunk and Pidge wondered about how the wizard's technology worked.
"I wonder if he came from an alternative reality." Keith said, his voice slightly above a whisper.
"Or maybe, he's secretly Shiro's twin brother in disguise." Lance said in a slightly louder tone, catching the bluenette's attention. This earned the Cuban boy a harsh elbow to the stomach.
"Ow, Quiznak Keith!"
"Who are you two talking about? I have absolutely no idea who this... Shiro is." the bluenette said, confusion lacing his voice, "And why would 'I' be his brother if I'm not even from here?"
"Sounds like I should introduce myself," came a husky voice, catching all three of the men's attention.
A young man, slightly taller than Keith and Lance walked over and took a seat next to the bluenette. He had a tuft of white hair hanging down slightly in his face, a facial scar covering his nose, and handsome masculine features.
"Hi, I'm Shiro, Paladin of the Black Lion and the Leader of Voltron, can you tell us your name?" Shiro asked, his voice polite, extending his hand to the blue haired man sitting next to him. The bluenette complied, obeying the Black Paladin's request, and gave everyone his name.
"JELLAL?!" Lance practically screamed, earning him a slap upside the head from Keith.
"Lance, stop screaming like an idiot," Keith said, irritatingly.
"I'm not an idiot, your the idiot, mullet," Lance shot back at the raven haired teen. "Don't call me mullet," Keith said, glaring slightly at the Cuban teenager.
"Alright that's enough out of both of you!" Shiro cut in, his authoritive voice, startling Jellal slightly.
"Sorry, didn't mean to startle you like that," Shiro lowered his voice as he turned back to Jellal, and continued his conversation with the bluenette.
"Okay, I'm confused, you practically screamed my name, why?" Jellal asked, looking at Lance with a confused look on his face.
"Your practically the most powerful Heavenly Body Mage in all of Fiore, that's so awesome!" The Blue Paladin explained excitedly.
"What? *chuckles* Your kidding right?" Jellal said, a bit skeptical of what he'd just heard, "I wouldn't be so sure about that, I mean, I'm not that powerful." he said, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Hey, take a compliment, stop being so gloomy," Jellal looked over and saw his beautiful wife Erza, "Brighten up, besides you have me, if anything else." she said, taking Jellal's face into her hands as she pulled her husband into a passionate kiss.
"Ooooh, wow okay," Shiro said, turning his face away, blushing slightly.
The kiss lasted roughly a minute and the two pulled back, pressing their foreheads together, gazing into each other's eyes.
"Love you, Honey," Erza whispered, just loud enough for everyone to hear, as she caressed her husband's tattooed cheek.
"Love you too, babe," Jellal murmured back, blushing slightly.
"Wait a minute... honey?" Lotor suddenly butted in, catching both Jellal's and Erza's attention.
Jellal looked at his beautiful wife, then back at the Prince and smirked, "Oops, I guess I forgot to mention that..." he shrugged before looking back at Erza, "...I'm married," and with that said, the blue haired mage pulled his wife in for yet another passionate kiss.
