Rain poured down from the heavens with a ferocity even Inuyasha was hesitant to confront directly, especially with Kagome tagging along. So, although he was initially reluctant to take refuge in the old shack, he found himself staring up at the leaky roof with a scowl, his arms crossed snug over his chest. "I don't like this. Not one bit!" He complained loudly, shooting Kagome a ferocious look that said it was all her fault somehow.

Kagome has outsmarted the peeping toms of the feudal era!  

But she has not outsmarted the clothing stealing monkeys of the feudal era...

The monkey delivers the clothing to this hopeless Hojo looking guy who is not at all Hojo.  

The whole gang follows the monkey to find this guy and after Kagome’s clothing is collected and put back on, they all introduce themselves!

I think this might be the first history joke.  There aren’t a ton of them, so this one is kind of notable.  Oda Nobunaga is considered to be the first person who unified all of Japan.  Kagome is pretty psyched about learning this.

Also, this will be the ONLY TIME Kagome is gonna whip out her history book in this manga.  (I don’t often think about it because Kagome and her education is always in terms of how she’s not doing a good job keeping up with it, but she has to be one of the most educated people on the entire planet at this point.)

BUT, while he’s from the same clan and knows Oda Nobunaga, THIS foolish Nobunaga is not THAT foolish Nobunaga.

Okay, so...down the way, there’s this castle and the lord of the castle is demanding that all girls be brought to him.  The girls are tied up and forced to go.  None of the girls ever leave the castle.  

There is a rumor that this lord has gone mad.

But it’s likely that he’s just possessed.  You know, the usual.  Inuyasha is intrigued.

Meanwhile, back in the castle, the lord is all wrapped up in a suspiciously frog-shaped bandage.  His wife (the one Nobunaga is trying to save) is...not having a great time.

But like, her husband is dragging all of the girls in the entire country to his castle and she doesn’t even know where he’s putting them.  That’s some Bluebeard shit, yo...

Inuyasha, Kagome, and Nobunaga find the castle.  Inuyasha can sense there is a youki here.  They infiltrate.

Deep within the castle, there are tons of girls in weird bubbles.  The lord can tell the Inubunch has gotten inside...

Alright, so the stakes are finding a potential jewel shard, having to deal with a lord possessed by a mononoke, and finding hundreds of possibly dead girls in bubbles.  Good times, good times.

The landscape they travelled through looked vaguely familiar but then again, being a city-bred girl, most forests and mountains looked very similar to her eye.

Lots of interesting stuff in Shiina’s latest blog post regarding Yashahime chapter 19.

I think the biggest thing is the revelation that Sesshomaru’s been stuck in some Groundhog Day-style time loop where he’s been repeating the same 14 year cycle over and over again. Shiina doesn’t give an exact number but hints that Sesshomaru has probably gone through this cycle dozens of times already.

He also mentions that Inuyasha’s injury at the end of the chapter (where he’s shot with bullets made from fragments of the demon star) was the result of him taking a hit meant for Sesshomaru but he didn’t have enough pages to draw it, although he does it might appear as a scene later on in the story.

It’s also interesting (because I’ve seen some people say it was ooc) that he specifically mentions the ‘princess hug’ (and I love that he calls it a princess hug) between Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. According to Shiina, this was something that could only happen as the time loop repeated and Sesshomaru saw Inuyasha always risking his life to protect him. I still think some people would see it ooc regardless but I like the idea of Sesshomaru being initially baffled by Inuyasha’s sacrifice and slowly becoming so moved by it that he starts carrying him around like a princess😂

Also, since dumb people still want to throw around the tired “Rin is Sesshomaru’s submissive trad wife who never questions him ever” line, how about the fact that Sesshomaru offered Rin A LUXURIOUS MANSION FULL OF SERVANTS and she turned him down because she thought it would be more fun to live with Kaede and Moroha. Which is totally in-character for Rin. She wouldn’t want to live a mansion. She wouldn’t want servants taking care of her and her kids for her.

Not to mention, in the actual chapter itself, she says that Sesshomaru puts up with the way she chooses to live because she wants to raise her children more like humans than yokai. Again, really doesn’t sound like someone totally submissive and unwilling to stand up to their husband.

So yeah, Rin is the one making the decisions here, even if it goes against something Sesshomaru would prefer. Sesshomaru allows her to make her own choices and respects those choices.

Jesus, it’s almost like they make a good couple because they respect and understand each other despite their multitude of differences😒

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

Always always always, but I have a horrible habit of getting behind on replying to them - usually because I'm busy when I get a comment and consistently forget to come back... Then suddenly there's a ton of them. This is a reminder to sit down and tackle my neglected comments, so thanks, thing.

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Ordinary Gifts for sure.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I meannnn, all of my fics have at least mostly happy endings, as I'm a baby. But I'd probably say Bloodstream - just considering the odds that have to be overcome to get there.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Never had until my goddamn Martha fic. But thankfully, the hate was on the latter pairing, not my writing. That's the only solace I took from that (along with some badass readers who defended me to a handful of lunatics).

9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?

I write all of the smut! Lengthy, graphic, emotional 'first time' scenes, as well as all subsequent smut. I have a very, very difficult time skipping over sex (have only done it once to date, and intend to write a separate fic to cover the smut I skipped 💀) and will never skip the first time.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

No, never have.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope, thank god.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Somebody translated Bloodstream into Russian, which was fucking cool.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I'm doing it right now with @bronzeagepizzeria and my excitement knows no bounds.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Had an idea for a fic inspired by To Have and Not Hold by mtemplar, but have never opened the lil WIP again, and that was over a year ago.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Smut?

Also, not sure if this counts - but I'm a perfectionist about my writing. I'm constantly, obsessively rereading, which I do both as I go and when everything is finished. Making alterations, amending this or that, punching up, rewriting/removing whole scenes etc... But I still, of course, make some mistakes here and there.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I write way too goddamn much. Way too much positive reinforcement in the comments of my first fic gave me a weird perma-complex where I don't even feel like a chapter is complete until it's around 10k, which is insane. Somebody save me. This is a serious problem.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I personally don't do it - I'd rather allude to it. For example, from my fic Exposure, since I guess I'm just going all in with this goddamn questionnaire:

He murmurs something soft, something gorgeous, but Rose has got no idea what it is— only that it's far too structured to be sleepy gibberish. There's an almost-Italian-but-also-sort-of-Arabic resonance to it, yet entirely unique; something she can't even pretend to know how to accurately describe. 

19. First fandom you wrote for?

The first actual fic I ever wrote was for the Russian girl group t.A.T.u in either 2003 or 2004, but I wrote it at school during 'reading time' in Language Arts. It never saw the light of day anywhere.

The first proper fic I actually wrote, finished, and posted completely was for my first feral fixation ship, Inu/Kag (Inuyasha) back in 2005.

Hot Spring: Much to her mortification, kagome winds up accidentally giving the males of her group a peep show.

Swordplay: Inuyasha & Sesshomaru argue over who's "sword" is bigger & who "swings" it better.

Plum Sake: Poor Sesshomaru is at a loss when drunk Kagome comes out to play

Fairytale: Kagome wakes up from a yokai induced sleep to a kiss from Sesshomaru while the kids cheer about her bedtime stories

Sleep: Sesshomaru watches kagome sleep, lost in thought. Meanwhile, Inuyasha watches him, jealousy building with every second that passes.

Instinct: Sesshomaru protects Shippo, Sango, & Miroku in Kagomes absence

False Claim: When Kogas antics go to far, Sesshomaru steps in to set things straight once & for all.

Liar: After an argument, Inuyasha leaves to be with kikyo for the night. Leaving Sesshomaru behind to pick up the pieces of a broken miko.

Acts of Honor: Sesshomaru captures Kohaku during battle, but instead of leaving him for dead, he returns him to Sango as the brother she remembers... not Narakus puppet.

Dishonorable: Sesshomaru scolds Miroku for his unfaithful & lecherous ways, much to the Monks embarrassment.

Festoval: Sesshomaru takes pride in spoiling the pack at a yokai celebration in honor of the balance between earths power, humans, & yokai.

Stormy Eyes: Injured, but furious... Kagome not only scolds but challenges Sesshomarus mother to a dual.

Healing: When Kagome is Injured, Sesshoumaru protects & cares for her in a way only a inu should care fot their mate, causing confusing feelings for Kagome.

Revelations: Sesshomaru opens up about his upbringing. Not realizing what he's describing is manipulation & abuse. His is when kagome decides her feelings for Sesshomaru are stronger than friendship.

Shame: Sesshomaru & his mother argue over his feelings over lagome, not realizing she overhears his lack of denial when his mother accuses him of being as shameful as his father for loving a human.

Enough: After finding Sesshomaru comforting her... Inuyasha goes too far with his insults towards kagome, resulting in an all out brawl.

Penis: Anyone who wants to visit the future kagome comes from,needs to be subjugated. Kagome decides on a word she would NEVER say to the kids.

Whore: Word around Tokys is that Higurashi Kagome is an unwed, teen mother whos getting kicked out of middle school for lying about being suck to chase a gangster two timer, only to turn around & switch to his brother. Her families reputation is in ruin.

Chickens: Sesshoumaru is HIGHLY unimpressed with Kagomes friends & the boy Hojo who couldn't take no for an answer.

Control: Kagomes power has been compromised & she can no longer control it. When her reki violently lashes out during a disagreement, she fears she's hurt Sesshomaru

Collections: Poor Jaken. Once a leader in his own right, he abandoned his people to serve the most feared yokai in Nippon. For years, things had been wonderful. But recently, his master had taken up an odd hobby. Jacken just couldn't fathom why his master kept collecting human females!

Rawr: Ah-Un are in charge of watching over the children. All seems well & the large dragon is able to eat their grass in peace. But serenity never lasts & if Ah-Un wants to get back to their lunch, they'll need to teach the yokai attempting to sneak up on the camp a lesson.

He tried to keep his voice even, but the threat of having to send Kagome away a second time was warring with his desire to pull her into his arms.

Inuyasha had been acting weird lately and Kagome couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.

At first, she'd chalked it up to a headache or him having one of those days where you wanted to hide from people–she certainly had those too–but Inuyasha refusing to hang out multiple consecutive times was ridiculous.
