Headcanons about Recap Kid because I reread the comics and contracted brain rot (aka me giving a character that was never meant to have lore an overdose of lore):

Putting this under a cut so you aren’t forced to read my insane ramblings about one of the most obscure and least known characters in Invader Zim. I’m not kidding when I say insane ramblings. I think I lost my mind.

Also some comic spoilers because I talk about some events in the comics.

Just in case you don’t know, this is Recap Kid:

They are a character exclusive to the comics that informs the reader about what happened in the previous issues or the original show. They are usually seen in an empty void disconnected from the rest of the Invader Zim universe, but they have been shown within the actual universe interacting with stuff.

They are also completely aware of the fourth wall and are basically a stand in for the average Invader Zim Superfan.

There is no information about them anywhere whatsoever. So I gave them some and now I feel like like Victor Frankenstein reanimating the dead while yelling “ITS ALIVE!”.

Headcanons:

Recap Kid isn’t human. Their name isn’t “Recap Kid” either.

Recap Kid belongs to a species known as “Recaps”. Recaps are a group of multiversal travellers that watch over certain universes, watching it progress while also making sure that the universe they’re assigned to isn’t destroyed by anything.

Recap Kid is also a child by Recap standards. They’re a Recap and they’re a Kid. A “Recap Kid” if you will. Their real name is completely unpronounceable.

Recaps are assigned universes when they reach a certain age and are given the job of watching over it and protecting it without directly interfering with anything. Stopping things that would damage or destroy large parts of their assigned universes by nudging things in the right direction without being seen. A bit like the Gman from half life if they weren’t allowed to directly speak to people.

Not every universe has a Recap watching it, but that doesn’t mean that the universe is doomed or anything. Having a Recap watch over your universe isn’t required, but is heavily recommended.

The universe where the show and enter the florpus happens doesn’t have a Recap watching it and everything turned out fine. (A Recap was sent out to fix the florpus hole though). This is an example of a universe that doesn’t really need a Recap watching it. Where the lack of a Recap is fine.

Zib’s universe also didn’t have a Recap watching it, and it all went horribly wrong. If a recap had been assigned to Zib’s universe, they would have been able to stop Zib from firing his empire destroying weapon that collapsed the universe or at least sabotage it so it wouldn’t work properly, because that’s their literal job. But no Recaps were assigned there and now it’s a lost cause.

There is one main, unbreakable rule for taking care of your assigned universe as a Recap:

Never directly interfere with things. If you must interfere, do so from the sidelines and never let your presence be known.

So when protecting the assigned universe from threats, a Recap can do things like manipulate people into doing things for them by using stuff like notes written in another person’s handwriting or by taking the form of someone else, or physically mess with stuff themselves, but they cannot be seen interfering or have their status as a Recap be discovered by anyone.

A Recap can interact with people when not protecting their assigned universe, but it must be extremely limited and they must appear as a native species. A human when on earth, an irken when on irk, etc.

Adult Recaps look nothing like Recap Kid. They look like this:

^ That is the Recap Brain. An adult Recap and one of the leaders of Recap society, in charge of watching over large chunks of the multiverse instead of just one universe per Recap.

The reason that Recap Kid looks like a human instead of a giant brain is because they’re still just a child. Recap children look a lot like humans. Plus they’re capable of changing their form to remove anything non-human.

Recaps can change their forms at will to blend in with native species of their assigned universes. It’s not perfect though, and even the best Recap disguises are …… uncanny at best to say the least. Even Recap Kid, despite already looking very human because of their age and not needing much to appear fully human, has a few things wrong with their human form. Their eyes have a slight glow, their entire body has a bit of a glitchy effect around the edges, just a bit uncanny. Luckily, Recaps have another trick up their sleeves to make them stand out less.

Recaps have an aura of sorts, that makes things ignore them. It doesn’t make them invisible, but it does make anyone that looks at them ignore them and just generally skip over them because they just don’t seem important. The aura even affects computers and has the bonus effect of making them not appear on camera 99.9 percent of the time. Recap children like Recap Kid can struggle to shut this aura off at times.

This aura really helps hide the more inhuman parts of Recap Kid’s form and makes it easier to sneak around and interact with things without being seen, but it does also make Recap Kid near impossible to notice if you’re even slightly focused on something else. In the comics Recap Kid got run over by Zim’s voot cruiser and Zim didn’t even realize it because Recap Kid’s aura made him unable to see Recap Kid. He was focused on driving and his brain, his PAK and the Voot’s computers all filtered out Recap Kid’s existence.

Recaps have a large amount of powers, even the young Recap Kid. Teleportation, the aura I just talked about, a whole slew of various psychic powers like telekinesis and telepathy, shapeshifting, even the ability to slow down, stop and even reverse time (to a limited extent and only if they’re in their assigned universe). And that’s just Recap Kid. An adult recap has even more powers and can even travel across dimensions at will.

Recaps also have access to a personal pocket dimension that they use as a house of sorts, along with using it to store various things. This pocket dimension is the empty void we see Recap Kid in at the beginning of every comic issue.

Despite all the powers they have and the fact that they live for literal trillions of years, Recaps aren’t gods. They’re close, but they’re still mortal. They can still be hurt and they can still be killed.

They also can’t magically fix absolutely everything. They can fix a lot, but they can only travel backwards though time by a certain amount and can only restore so much. They can’t fully repair their assigned universe if it is too damaged, so they must instead stop the universe from being damaged in the first place.

Recaps aren’t aware of the fourth wall or the fact that they’re all fictional characters in a fictional multiverse. That knowledge is unique to Recap Kid.

Recap Kid isn’t supposed to have a universe of their own to watch over yet. Universes are assigned to adults. Recap Kid, if you can’t tell from their name, is a kid. But the adult recaps assigned them a universe anyways.

Recap Kid is basically the Zim of the Recaps. The other Recaps wanted them out of the way so they took Recap Kid, shoved them into a random universe that was deemed “not worth watching” (ie: the universe that the comics take place in) and said “good news, you’re getting an assigned universe 5 billion years early. You already know the rules regarding assigned universes. Don’t come back.” Recap Kid has no idea that their mission is fake.

So Recap Kid wandered their new assigned universe for a while and eventually saw the events of “The Nightmare Begins”. More specifically, they saw Dib and Zim’s chase across town. After seeing that, they became obsessed with what Zim and Dib were doing on earth and began spending the majority of their time on earth. They even started attending School so they could see Zim and Dib’s elaborate fights up close.

The only thing separating the main universe (where the show and enter the florpus happens) and the comic universe (where the show happens, but enter the florpus doesn’t happen and the events of the comics happen instead) is one single moment. In the main universe, Zim forgets phase two of his plan, while in the comic universe, he doesn’t forget.

Recap Kid is a lot more willing to use their powers for less important things than stopping the complete annihilation of their assigned universe. They use their powers a lot to undo the damage that Zim and Dib cause while fighting. They still do their job though.

Recap Kid is the cause of the slightly unstable timeline of events in the comics. Returning everything to the status quo after every fight between Dib and Zim. Zim knocked the earth out of orbit and into the sun? Recap Kid is why earth is fine in the next issue. Zim blew up half the galaxy including the massive by accident? Recap Kid fixed it. Etc.

However, they only step in in very specific situations. If Zim kills Dib and takes over the Earth, Recap Kid will let it happen. Same goes for if Dib defeats Zim and exposes him. They only step in in situations where both Zim and Dib loose and they can’t get themselves back to normal on their own. Stuff like the Earth being knocked into the sun, killing both Zim and Dib, half the galaxy blowing up (which is something that Recaps would normally prevent), that kind of thing. So they only truly reset things in rare situations. Most of the time Zim and Dib can get things back to the status quo on their own.

There are two characters we know of that are slightly aware of the existence of Recap Kid.

The first is Dib. He’s noticed just a few things that made him a bit suspicious, like Recap Kid’s slightly uncanny appearance and awareness of everything, the fact that cameras don’t pick them up except for a few extremely blurry pictures with them in the background (Dib wasn’t even trying to take their picture, he just noticed Recap Kid in the background afterwards), the fact that no one in the school, not even the principal knows who they are and more than a couple encounters where Recap Kid ran into a room or turned a corner and just, disappeared without a trace. Dib has tried to figure out what Recap Kid is (his personal theory is that they’re some kind of ghost) but he quickly gave up after his notes disappeared without a trace, plus the mystery of Recap Kid just doesn’t seem “important” or “noteworthy” to Dib. So after a short while he started ignoring Recap Kid again without even noticing that he was doing it.

The second is Zim. He noticed Recap Kid show up on one of his security cameras really briefly and panicked, thinking that there was a human inside his base and only panicked more when his computer said that not only was no human detected in that room, but nothing was detected at all. Zim attempted to find Recap Kid and find out what they are, but all his attempts came up short and he eventually just brushed it off as a glitch in the security cameras, not important enough for him to waste time on it. This has happened several times.

I was wondering when we'd hear from you. And me if you would respond. Huh? There are more humans now? Have you been trying to get a hold of me? Meh, not the first time you see me. Actually, yes. We obviously noticed what your other little team have done and were wondering what you were gonna do of Zim. Guess I checked in at all the wrong times, I never saw any transmissions go through, but I've also been busy. You want to know what I'm going to do with him? Yeah, you've the one who got them back. And we can see you, Zim. Well, allow him to recover first. Then he continue living with us as he was before. To recover? The quicker you get rid of him, the better. You have no idea of how dangerous he is. I do actually. Not nearly as much as you would think, and he's still very valuable to me. Well, it's not our problem if your Irk gets destroyed by him! Then you're gonna keep him? Of course I'm keeping him. And if you have a problem with that, we could very easily give you more problems to worry about. And how many humans do you use? Just right there there are more humans than irkens. And all similar. And you don't know how many allies Zim has in the multiverse! I have a very close relationship with my Earth. How I interact with humans is none of your concern. The ones you see before you are all important to me. They are an inferior species, they aren't even able to leave their system. They wouldn't be of any value to any respectable irken empire. THEY AREN'T USELESS! NOT ALL OF THEM! They are of great value to me, but I don't expect your upbringing and social status to allow you to understand that in the slightest. So it is pointless to attempt an explanation when for one, I owe you nothing of the sort and do not require your approval, and two, you're incapable of grasping the concept. You seem to appreciate defects anyway, what are a threat to the Empire. You appreciating some lower lifeform isn't surprising either. Yeah, how can an Empire be great with such problems? Of course I appreciate defects. I am one. You're... what? What kind of Empire has a defect leading it? You're just gonna doom it! Tell that to her thousand years as Tallest! A thousand years... Well, your universe must be lame for a such Tallest to reign for so long. Your Empire can probably hardly face any serious threat. And I can't even imagine how bad your collective memories must be... You mean the control brains? Ha, they don't have those! What you think of us doesn't matter. The fact that we were able to take what's ours back however should say something about our capabilities. Right, right, I've always dreamt of that. Honestly, what an occasion. I fought Zim for two years when you sent him on Earth. Spied on him, ruining his plans, protecting Earth. I've seen him report to you. From the couch or captured by him. I've thought of plans to take your Massive down. For repelling you away from Earth. However, I've seen Zim changing. His interest shifting from conquering Earth and destroying things to getting attached to people and to protect them. Him stopping repressing everything you consider defective and actually becoming happy. DIB? He blossomed away of this universe! He found people important for him, a good life and real social links. Your lives are so sad and lame in comparison of what he got the last few months. Even your Massive is pitiful in comparison to what they had to face. Two humans, a defective SIR unit and a hybrid breaking into your Massive and freeing people? You should be ashamed of your security system! There you have it. Things would have been different if they didn't hack the Massive defenses! Yes, we should have attacked you as soon as you came. Coming to talk? What a joke! It was all a diversion! And it worked. You fell for it, hook line and sinker. We didn't think an other Tallest would have been so lame to try a such plan. First, you claim one of our irkens, then you attack us when you went for negotiations. But we shouldn't have expected more of defects. And you know the best? The one who hacked you, it's a Zim and a defect! Perhaps you shouldn't underestimate defects. I was willing to make peaceful contact with you all, but it's rather difficult when your family is at stake. This kind of defectiveness can only lead to a regression. Yeah, getting attached just makes an irken weak. What kind of perfect Empire has such weak irkens? They just end up getting killed or worse! ATTACHMENTS DON'T MAKE US WEAK. THEY MAKE US STRONG. GIVE US SOMETHING TO FIGHT FOR! SOMETHING TO HOLD ON TO! Yeah! And again, we are the ones who came out on top. This proves that we are right. Only because we believed you wanted to solve this peacefully! You behaved traitorously, attacked us during negotiations. That's not fair! You struck first when you took Zim and D1b. I was going to get them back, no matter what it took. Whether or not you claim to have a right over them, it doesn't matter. Your laws do not apply to us. They do apply to Zim though. Yeah, he is still an irken of our Empire. I'M PART OF TALLEST MIYUKI'S EMPIRE. NOT OF YOURS ANYMORE. SHE IS MY TALLEST. AS SUCH, YOU DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT OVER ME ANYMORE. YOU'RE NOT MY TALLEST. How's that for your laws? Zim, you being of our Empire is encoded in your very PAK. You can't erase that. I DON'T CARE. I HAVE MY TALLEST SECURITY CODE IN MY PAK AND I AM REGISTERED IN HER EMPIRE. I'M FULLY HERS. Well, it's a defect in less for us then. If he never comes back. If he does come back, he knows what is gonna happen to him. I'll take him gladly. Does this mean you'll leave him alone?? While he doesn't make himself noticed in our Empire. Good riddance if he goes away. Then I have no further quarrel with you. Good. And don't come back to attack us! We would be prepared this time.

You know what? I love that random pilot from the movie. So despite not knowing his name, I'm going to use my dumbass energy and ask if you've got any relationship hcs for him?

Ooh! I love him too! He was the only one with enough courage and braincells to try to talk some sense into the Tallest!

Note: The pilot doesn’t have an official name. So I named him Skad.

By some miracle, Skad had somehow managed to survive the Florpus. However, the Florpus had left him stranded on Urth!

Needless to say, Skad was petrified! Being on the same planet as Zim aside, Skad was trained a pilot not an Invader! He had no idea how to adapt to life on another planet!

Anxious and alone, Skad frantically searched for shelter. He desperately tried to avoid drawing attention to himself. He didn’t want to even think about what the inhabitants of this terrible planet would do to him if he got caught!

Just when he thought he had found the perfect shelter the door swung open.

“HOLY SHIT! AN ALIEN!”

All of the color drained from Skad’s face. He had been caught by one of the inhabitants! This was it! He was going to die deserted on a foreign planet!

Skad took a deep breath and decided to brace himself for his inevitable doom.

The moment he turned the face the source of the voice, Skad felt his PAK spark.

“Sorry! Didn’t mean to scare you!” You squeaked as you slowly put your hands in front of your face.

Skad tried to speak but all that came out was gibberish. Never had he seen such a beautiful creature! Your eyes twinkled with stardust! And your voice! What a lovely sound!

“Ah geez, you don’t speak English do you?” Your face fell a bit as you rubbed the back of your head.

Skad shook away his infatuation and cleared his throat.

“Fear not, Urthinod! I am perfectly capable of understanding and speaking your language!”

“Oh! Sorry for assuming!”

“It’s quite alright. I take it this planet doesn’t get many foreign visitors?” Skad laughed nervously as he tried to sound professional.

“Nope! I mean, people have claimed to have seen an alien but there’s never been any actual proof. Like, I know this really creepy paranormal guy who keeps claiming that one of my classmates is an alien.” You replied casually.

“Creepy paranormal guy?” Skad parroted as he tilted his head to the side.

“Yeah, I think his name is Dib or something. He goes to my skool and he’s always screaming about exposing aliens and dissecting them. But that’s not what makes him creepy though.” You groaned.

“I’m sorry, how is wanting to dissect aliens not creepy?!” Skad gasped as he hugged himself protectively.

“Oh wanting to dissect aliens are definitely creepy but trust me, that’s only the tip of the iceberg with that guy. Speaking of which, we should probably continue this back inside. If Dib finds out that there’s another real alien running around, it’s not gonna end well for you.” You explained as you gestured for Skad to follow you into your house.

Skad reluctantly agreed and followed you inside.

“Alright, we need to be quiet because my parents are sleeping.” You whispered as you crept through the halls.

“My, this home is much more… primitive then I was expecting.” Skad muttered as he observed his surroundings.

“Heh. I guess things are a bit more advanced where you’re from.” You giggled as you led Skad to your room.

“Well, I am from planet Irk. We have the finest technology in the universe.” Skad boasted.

“Really? That’s awesome.” You gently opened your bedroom door and motioned for Skad to enter.

“Indeed. It’s really a shame how behind most of the universe is.” Skad playfully shook his head.

“So what brought you to Urth anyway?” You asked as you pulled up your desk chair and gestured for him to sit.

“Um, Well…It’s quite a long story…” Skad murmured as he slowly sat down.

“It’s cool if you don’t want to talk about it.” You reassured as you plopped onto your bed.

“Oh no! It’s not that! It’s just a long story! I simply don’t want to waste your time with my babbling.” Skad explained as he straightened up a bit.

“You’re not wasting my time at all! I’ve actually always wanted to meet an alien! Tell me everything! As long as you’re comfortable with that, of course.” You gushed as you pressed your hands up against your cheeks.

“Well, since you insist…”

Skad took in a deep breath as he begun to explain everything. He told you all about his life as one of The Massive’s pilots. He couldn’t believe that you were actually listening to his entire story! Not only were you listening but you were even asking questions!

For the first time in his life, Skad felt respected. It was a glorious feeling! Skad never wanted the feeling to end! He went into more and more detail of his life and even bragged about a few of his slightly exaggerated achievements.

However, all good things must come to an end. Skad soon had no choice but to talk about the dreaded Florpus.

He felt a twinge of bitterness bubble up as he remembered how stubborn the Tallest were. Had they listened to him none of this would’ve happened!

“So, that’s how I ended up on your planet….” Skad sighed as he hung his head.

“Oh, Skad…”

“You needn’t pity me, Y/N is it?”

“That’s right.” You nodded.

“We Irkens are highly trained! My survival skills are the best in my class! I can assure you, I will be just fine. I’m certain I could just….um…” Skad trailed off as his mind searched for the right words to say.

“You could always stay here with me.”

‘Y/N, I mean no disrespect but I cannot stay on this foreign planet! Not without supplies anyway.” Skad huffed as he folded his arms.

“Ok, well how about you just stay until you can find some supplies?”

“Well… I guess I don’t really have a choice do I?” Skad sighed as he buried his face in his hands.

“Hey, it’s gonna be alright. I promise..” You reassured softly.

“How could you be so sure?”

“Because…. you’re amazing! I know you can get through anything!” You giggled.

“Wait…Do you really think I’m amazing?” Skad’s ruby eyes lit up.

“Of course I do! You managed to survive a deadly multiverse-destroying wormhole! How is that not amazing?!” You cheered as you pointed to the ceiling.

“Well, I’d consider it more lucky than amazing b-but I’m very flattered by your words, Y/N.” Skad stuttered as he rubbed the back of his head.

You let out a yawn and stretched out your arms.

“Alright, I’ve got Skool tomorrow, so I gotta get some sleep. We can talk more in the morning if you want.”

“Sleep? You humans still require that?” Skad blinked in surprise.

“Yeah- Wait, what do you mean still? Don’t Irkens sleep too?” You asked as you raised a brow.

“We Irkens haven’t required sleep for over thousands of years. Our PAKs are equipped with special charging cells that provide us with a constant stream of energy. Therefore, sleep is obsolete to us.” Skad explained as he gestured to his PAK.

“Oh damn! That’s crazy! So you guys don’t get tired? Like at all?!” You asked as your eyes widened a bit.

“Well that’s not entirely true…” Skad muttered as his antennas drooped a bit.

“Eh? I thought your PAKs provided a constant stream of energy or whatever?”

“W-Well it’s true that we Irkens don’t require sleep but we can still get tired if we get overworked. Or when we have to deal with frustrating individuals….” Skad’s voice tapered into a soft mutter as he spoke.

“What was that?”

“N-Nothing! P-Perhaps it would be best for you to get some sleep now! We can talk more in the morning!” Skad spluttered as he waved his hands in front of his face.

“Ok then…I guess I’ll get ready for bed.”

And with that, you dug out your favorite Pjs.

“Why are you pulling out different clothes? I fail to see what’s wrong with what you’re currently wearing/”

“Oh! Well, it’s not comfortable for me to sleep in what I’m wearing now, so I’m going to change into something that is comfortable to sleep in.” You explained as you gestured to your Pjs.

“Oh I see…..W-Wait what?!” Skad’s face flushed as his mind processed what you just said.

“Well you see, we humans don’t like to be uncomfortable when we sleep so-”

“Oh that part I’m fine with! It’s the…changing part that startled me!” Skad spluttered as a few beads of pink sweat dripped down his face.

You couldn’t help but burst out laughing at Skad’s reaction.

“W-What’s so funny?!”

“I’m sorry. I’m sorry. It’s just… I’m not gonna change in front of you! I’m gonna go to the bathroom to change.” You explained playfully.

“O-Oh right! Of course!” Skad let out a nervous chuckle.

And with that, you headed to the bathroom, changed into your Pjs and brushed your teeth.

While you brushed your teeth, Skad let out a dreamy sigh.

“That human sure is something….Perhaps staying here won’t be so bad after all.”

Skad rested his head in his hands as he let out a soft chirp.

ZAP!

Skad’s PAK sparked a bit.

Skad’s eyes widened in shock! That wasn’t supposed to happen.

Skad begun to panic! If anyone found out about his PAK sparking, he would no doubt be deactivated!

It was then Skad’s mind came to a realization:

Most of his people, including the Tallest, have no doubt been swallowed by the Florpus.

Therefore, no one else would even be alive, let alone be able to find out about his sparking PAK.

Skad let out a sigh of relief as he wiped away a few beads of sweat off his forehead.

“Alright! I’m back!”

The sound of your cheerful voice woke Skad from his thoughts.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” You giggled as you plopped onto your bed.

“No! No! You’re fine! I was just um… Well sleep well. Would you like me to shut the lights off?” Skad offered.

“Oh, don’t worry, I can take care of that-”

“Really, it wouldn’t be any trouble for me.” Skad insisted.

“Well if you insist.” You yawned as you begun to crawl into bed.

And with that, Skad turned off the lights as you got cozy in bed.

“Good night, Skad.” You whispered.

“Good Night, Y/N.” Skad replied as he watched you fall into a deep sleep.

Skad stifled a chirp as he watched you sleep.

Yup, he was definitely going to like his new life on Urth.

It has been a decade since the greatest conflict in Human history happened

The Great Battle between the Heroes and Villains

And the Villains won, massacring the heroes. A civil war occured that wiped out the greater Villains. Now slowly dying, Earth has become a land of mercenaries, marauders, and creatures of horror or rage. In this land, former US Soldier Randall Malloy is brought into a greater world as his life is targeted by enemies beyond his scope. Relying on his protector, the Symbiote Lesion, they must survive in a world where chaos reigns and the world is far more grey than it is black and white.

Except for certain OCs, all characters, concepts and franchises here don't belong to me.

I am thinking of making a scientific diagram of Irken biology in my AU, as I've been studying human biology, zoology and entomology specifically for this. With that said, I will give a cw for scientific nsft as I want it to be fully realistic, so this will include all parts of the body including those which are reproductive and how they work.

I am doing this as a science project purely for my own education and for fun. If you make it weird, I WILL block you.

Can I get a basic run down of each of your au’s? It’s really hard to keep track and I wanna understand what people are talking about

*cracks knuckles* Alright, let’s do this. I’ll probably just link this in my sidebar at this point, because these are getting built up pretty rapidfire and if you aren’t on tumblr as much as I am you’re pretty liable to miss something.

Now with tag links, going chronologically so you can catch up if you want to! Some of them have a lot of posts, though, just as a warning.

-Time AU: The original. Twix is accidentally sent back in time- why is still a bit fuzzy but I think it involves the Voot malfunctioning when a time machine is installed. She runs into Dib when rummaging around in the basement lab in his house for parts, and lets it slip that she’s his daughter from the future. Her skin is just not-green enough to slip past his radar, and a DNA text confirms that she is in fact related to him, but her lips are sealed about who her other parent is.

She needs to break into Zim’s base to get the necessary tools to finish fixing the Voot to go back home, and Dib assumes she wants to expose Zim like she does, so she has to keep on his good side to get what she needs. It’s weird to say the least, seeing her parents fighting and Dib as a kid- especially since Zim looks basically the same.

After she finally fixes the Voot, it starts jumping through alternate dimensions before she finally makes it home, and she meets several alternate versions of herself.

The tag needs to be cleaned up on this one- it was the first au and has scattered posts of the others still in it but it’s going to take a while to edit down to the individual ones, fair warning.

-Tallest AU: Zim is “co-Tallest” with Tak, and Dib is a rebel fighter trying to take down the empire- sort of a bounty hunter on the side too. Twix is created during a fight when Zim tries to rip Dib’s throat out with his teeth, as you do. Zim is yanked out of public view while pregnant- can’t let the Empire know one of the Tallests has a defect that allows him to reproduce naturally. When he comes back, Twix is declared an experiment of his to create an heir with alien DNA to help her be taller, stronger, and more resilient. She’s kind of a spoiled brat in this one, and has absolutely no idea who Dib is.

When she’s about 12, Dib as a bounty hunter was enlisted to kidnap her in an attempt to rile up Zim and get rid of his heir in one fell swoops, having no idea that she’s his daughter. Eventually, that’s discovered, and she slowly learns what life is like for everyone who isn’t her, while Dib learns to be a parent and care for her instead of having to just rely on himself all the time. Things are pretty tense at first, though.

Eventually, after Zim gets her back, she’s injured during a fight and Zim and Dib make a reluctant truce while she heals, eventually becoming sort of ‘rivals with benefits’- Zim won’t kill him if he’s captured, and Dib won’t take headshots. Dib also gets a collar so he can walk around the Massive without somebody sniping his head off, although he’s very grumpy about this.

Eventually, Dib manages to convince Zim that he’s nothing more than a mascot for the empire, there to blow shit up to show their power. (Tak is the real leader, Zim doesn’t really have the power he thinks he does, and Tak was brought in as co-Tallest to do most of the real ruling and give an air of competence, with the Control Brains doing the rest.) This takes ages, and involves Zim being so deep in denial he literally shoots Dib in the leg to get him to shut up, but it needles at him until he accepts it. Needless to say, pisses him off. They run off together, something Tak’s actually pretty happy about because she figures he’ll just die without the protection being a Tallest gives him. Twix comes with them, and start causing problems for the Empire wherever they can.

Dib gets a robot arm at one point, we haven’t 100% decided on how, and they end up having a second kid, a boy named Kit. (Kit Kat. Thank the discord for that one.)

-WLOD AU: Based on the alternate future in Dib’s Wonderful Life of Doom. Dib is the villain in this one- Twix was made when Zim attempted to escape captivity and bit Dib in the process. She’s kind of a nervous, timid wreck, and Zim is incredibly protective of her. She doesn’t see the world outside of the lab until main!Twix stumbles across this world and helps break her and Zim out, bringing them to her reality and asking Membrane to help her ‘cousins’. They end up settled somewhere else. (She ends up good friends with Moth!Twix.)

The running joke with this one is if the other Dibs meet this guy they just beat the crap out of him.

When Twix eventually dies of health complications from being experimented on, Zim pretty much snaps. He goes back to his home dimension and burns down everything even remotely related to Earth and Dib and ends up conquering the Empire, his grief giving him laser focus and allowing him to work past his defects. He goes on pretty much on a multi-decade rampage, twice as ruthless as anyone else and blowing up planets with ease. One day, though, while he’s with the ground troops he sees a scared child who was orphaned by his attacks and sort of snaps back to himself. He ends up adopting them, and several others in an attempt to atone for himself. He trains them up, fully expecting one of them to end up killing him when they find out he was the one that orphaned them, but when they find out about Twix they tend to just leave over killing him.

He ends up dying near her grave of illness/old age.

-Human AU: This one’s gotten revamped. The old one is after the line, to explain the old fanart in that tag. (I… never really liked this one as much as the others because it didn’t feel Zim-like to me and Dib was barely a presence- and he was barely himself too.)

Honestly this one is still a bit of a joke, but Zim’s got a more mad-scientist edge to him, primarily with strange toys, furbies in particular. He makes lots of them and their house is overrun- Twix has no idea it isn’t normal. He enjoys making people squirm with his creations and ends up having a bit of a rivalry with Swap Zim.

Old version: Zim and Dib were both sort of academic rivals at school, but ended up paired together for a science pair project and became friends. They’re roommates at college and begin dating, and Twix just comes from a regular old broken condom, oops. Zim was kind of a party animal but cuts back for her sake. His water actually breaks during an important exam but he insists on finishing it, despite Dib’s blood pressure going up about 500%. Zim’s a Bio major, I haven’t really settled on Dib yet. Zim ends up working at Membrane Labs, though.

Zim’s also a big fan of musical theater, and gets roped into subbing in as Billy Flynn on the campus production of Chicago while four months pregnant. Gir is his younger brother and currently in high school.

-Irken AU: This one’s set a bit earlier in the timeline, when Zim was still working at the labs for military research. (See the canceled episode The Trial.) He met Dib there, and at one point they ended up locked in for a whole weekend on accident. At one point they got into a fight, one thing led to another, and Zim ended up pregnant. He only found out when he started getting sick and went to the hospital. The problem? That’s a defect that hasn’t happened in a long time- he’s whisked to the Control Brains, labeled defective in both mind and body, and sent off to Foodcourtia so no one has to deal with him.

When Dib finds out, he steals a ship and goes to rescue him. Zim is completely miserable, exhausted, overworked, and all around pissed this is happening. He lashes out at Dib for doing this to him before completely collapsing since his body hasn’t gotten a chance to rest in too long, and his instincts tell him that Dib is safe because he’s the other parent. Gir is a malfunctioning food service drone that snuck aboard the ship. They have to figure out what’s going on because this kind of thing hasn’t happened in centuries.

Dib was initially only interested in studying Zim because of the rarity of natural-born smeets, but as time goes on they end up getting closer, especially because Zim gets clingy as time goes on. There are two endings to this one- either they keep wandering around space, or they end up on Earth since it’s uncharted and no one will bug them there. Twix comes from an egg and has three siblings (possibly more) in this one!

-Pilot AU: Related to the Time AU- while jumping around, she gets stuck in the pilot universe. She very much doesn’t like it, especially since Dib starts stalking her instead. When he finds out she’s his daughter, he gets even more obsessive about how and why she came back, and she has to escape him to keep going home.

-Adoption AU: This is the angstfest one kicked off by a particular anon- Zim has a miscarriage, but at some point afterwards when Twix is jumping through the multiverse, she runs into them. After realizing what happened, she finds a version of herself that lost both of her parents and brings her to meet the ones that never had her, and they’re all happy.

-Zimvoid AU: Twix lands in the Zimvoid from the few most recent comics. Not a lot of plot to this one, it’s just fun to imagine. The Zims meeting after Twix is born is under PZA Au, and the Dibs meeting is ‘Meet me in the dibpit’ which is the best tag out of all of these lmao

-Species Swap AU: Dib is, similar to in the irken au, there to study local flora and find uses for them. Gaz is the invader, sent here for her catastrophic body count on every other mission she’s had. She finds out Earth has good games and is just ‘eh, whatever’ and basically puts the mission on hold, letting Dib start stalking the one human that truly interests him- Zim. He’s almost irken-like, and clearly incredibly intelligent- and destructive!

I made a whole plot explanation for this one here.

Dib is actually the one to have her in this au. It’s also a running joke and I’m heavily considering making it canon that this Zim is the one that actually succeeds in taking over the world.

-Mothman AU: Dib is an actual mothman, and so is his family. Variation on this one: One has irken Zim, one has human Zim. Other Dibs find this version of Dib hot. Twix is raised in the woods and her only real friends are her parents, Gir, and Tulip. (Keef’s adopted daughter.)

In the irken au, Zim is actually accepted relatively fast by Membrane who thinks he’s just a strange, stunted moth. After having Twix he ends up growing wings and neck fluff because mothmen are actually a very distant cousin of irkens that diverged millions of years ago, and carrying Dib’s kid kickstarted the process. He also dies for like two minutes because giving birth to an egg a third of your size really sucks. (He’s fine, once Dib got him to the recharging chamber he woke back up when his Pak reactivated him, he was just really low on charge after a birth lasting like two days.)

In the human au, he’s not so lucky- Dib has to keep his relationship a secret, and Membrane only finds out when he sees Zim, already pregnant. Dib gets into a big fight with him because humans killed his mom and Membrane is pissed he’d get into a relationship with one. Things do end up working out eventually, once Twix is born Membrane is fascinated by her, but tensions are still pretty high for a while. Earlier in this version, Zim actually found out he was pregnant when he gets accidentally shot by someone who was aiming at Dib and had to go to the hospital and they took a pregnancy test before doing the x-ray. (In all aus where Zim is human, including swap, he’s a trans guy, and this one is set in the 1970′s/80′s. He ran away to live in the woods for a reason.)

-SU AU: Steven Universe AU! This one’s covering most of the plot of Steven Universe up to this point, so it got long. Link here. (For the aesthetic, think more Gravity Falls and late over early SU: Deep woods and dark colors.)

-Capture AU: A sort of flip of the WLOD au. Zim wins and keeps Dib prisoner, although he enjoys riling him up so Dib is much more of a firecracker than WLOD Zim is. Zim gets the itching feeling he’s missing something and uses a blood sample from Dib to get himself pregnant, but he realizes he can’t raise the kid alone without killing her (and plays it off as making Dib help with something he’s made it clear he hates) so he lets Dib out but on a very tight leash. This one is definitely on the darker end.

-Scandal AU: Zim is Tallest, Dib is an irken scientist. They ‘grew up’ together but Zim shot up and forgot about Dib because- well, his memory’s canonically pretty garbage and besides he often misremembers things anyway. Dib is hauled in front of him for causing problems at the labs like letting the specimens free because he hates his coworkers, and they just kept shoving him at successively more important people because he managed to keep slipping away before being fully punished and it ends up getting all the way to the Tallest.

Dib gets pissy at Zim because he’s expecting to get thrown out the airlock or whatever, before realizing just how terrible of an idea that is and that Zim could do something a lot worse. Mostly he’s just mad that Zim left him behind, but Zim, who only has faint inklings of Dib being familiar, decides to keep him around on basically a whim.

Things evolve from there, with Zim doting over his new ‘toy’ who treats him like an equal (which he didn’t realize he wanted, because duh, he’s the Tallest, why would he want to be anything other than shallowly worshipped?) while Dib has to walk the VERY careful tightrope of staying alive by not pissing Zim off while also not rolling over completely and betraying himself. (And that might lose Zim’s interest as well.) Things get even messier when oops, there’s eggs now.

-Treasure Planet AU: What it says on the tin, an au based off the movie Treasure Planet! Plot summary here, AU mostly belongs to @64bit-trash and @yeehawimscared.

-Dibbrane AU: Dib turns out to be a much better clone of his father and doesn’t realize that Zim is an alien. Zim ends up getting attatched to him because he takes him seriously as a fellow scientist and genuinely enjoys his company, and eventually they get married- all without Dib finding out what he really is. Twix ends up more like show-Dib, determined to prove to the world that there’s a world hidden underneath their own, and Zim ends up her ‘alien rival’ in order to train her. She doesn’t realize she’s half-alien… yet. Fuller synopsis here.

-Amnesia AU: Zim was a personal pet project of Tallest Miyuki’s, and treated him as a son, planning to raise him to succeed her, taking down the heightarchy in the process. She ends up assassinated by Red and Purple in an attempt to get enough power to laze around for the rest of their lives, and Zim is blamed for it. A lot of irkens are bitter and jealous for the attention he got, especially for someone so short, so it’s easy enough to do.

While imprisoned, he tore up his Pak in an attempt to get rid of the grief and trauma of seeing his mother dead and ended up more defective, having mostly forgotten who he was before. The timeline ‘syncs up’ with iz show canon. He crashes OID2 and gets sent to Earth, and over the years enters a relationship with Dib and gets pregnant. When that’s discovered, he gets pulled back and his memory is wiped again, and when the baby is born, she’s taken away to see if they can shape her into a soldier.

Zim is used for more tests and Skoodge tries to help him, and ‘Brid’ is shuffled between career tracts before being sent out with the soldiers while still 11- practically a smeet. She meets Dib, who’s been looking for both Zim and his lost child. She promises to take him to Zim, but is going to try and bring him as a new species of alien to her superiors to get brownie points because she’s treated kind of like shit by the other trainees for being such a freak. (She always wears a helmet to cover her nose and hair.)

Eventually their paths cross as they get arrested and thrown into a cell near Zim’s, but Zim doesn’t realize he’s even got a daughter, much less this one, so there’s a while to figure things out.

All this time, Miyuki uploaded herself before her death into a side control brain that only Skoodge knows, and they stumble across her, and she helps fill in the gaps.
