How old was your previous phone before you got the iPhone? Because like all the things you're complaining about have been a problem for probably like at least half a decade for a lot of phones, at least in my experience. And definitely not just an iPhone problem. My Samsung has all the same problems except maybe it trying to force me to use face id. It's been an awful experience. And I'm not saying you shouldn't complain about that because it IS bad and annoying and just overall very scummy. It just feels like your post would feel right at home in 2018 lol and makes me wonder when the last time you got a new phone was or what kind of phone you had before
I will use a phone beyond the death of the screen if I can, so im isually like 4-7 years behind everyone else.
My favourite gen 1 ipod was only operable by screen reader by the time the battery finally gave out, and my current phone (was gonna switch away from but kind of changing my ind now) is an android a friend didn't want with a smashed screen and it's fine.
Apple just feels genuinely so much worse and less intuitive by comparison

question should i download n play animal crossing and if so which games should i play. for no particular reason at all. absolutely nothing suspicious going on here, no siree. just a simple passerby query is all💖
I do love Animal Crossing, but it is definitely not for everyone. I, and a couple other people, have drawn comparisons to Winnie the Pooh, and I think it's a pretty apt comparison. You're basically Christopher Robin. There's not much of a plot, there's minimal danger (I'm counting tarantulas, scorpions, and wasps as danger lmao), and unless you're playing online and you visit other people you rarely leave. It's you and your cute animal neighbors all living together in a cute town. If you think you'd enjoy that, I recommend it. But if you think you'd be bored out of your skull... best to skip it.
As for the games themselves...
My absolute favorite is Wild World (DS), because if you talk to the special characters enough (Tom Nook, the birds in the post office, the Able Sisters, etc.) they eventually start giving you lore. I love me some tasty tasty lore. New Leaf (3DS) is also quite great, that's where our girlie Isabelle debuted and the beginning of being able to decorate your town in addition to your home.
New Horizons (Switch) is the newest in the series, I do like it but I miss elements that were in Wild World and New Leaf that aren't there anymore. The lore especially, though I feel like we got a continuation on the Able Sisters' story if you squint. (But you have to approach it ALREADY knowing the lore, so...)
I strongly recommend Happy Home Designer (standalone game on 3DS) and Happy Home Paradise (New Horizons DLC), especially if you enjoy the home decoration aspect of Animal Crossing. It's very fun. I build insane shit, as you saw the other night lmao, but some people put together really pretty spaces for the villagers.
I played the GameCube version briefly a long time ago, sadly it didn't grip me then but I'm open to trying it again.
I never played City Folk/Let's Go to the City (Wii), so I have no formal opinion of it. It was the worst selling Animal Crossing game though, so much so that it played heavy influence in how New Leaf turned out, so keep that in mind.
And I don't think anyone counts Amiibo Festival (Wii U) as an Animal Crossing game lmao. :) This is the only one I wouldn't recommend, as it's not an Animal Crossing game, it's basically a Mario Party game in Animal Crossing clothing. (And you have to pay for other playable characters, I think, since it's pushing the Amiibo? No gud.)
And finally, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, which is an app on iPhone and Android. You do have to pay for it to download it, but they're so generous with their various currency I haven't felt pressured to sink more money into it since I got it. (In fact I... can't even find the screens where you do pay real money lmao. I went looking once out of curiosity to see what the pricing was and couldn't figure out how to get there.) I do recommend Pocket Camp, but kind of like Amiibo Festival it's not really the full AC experience (but it's more so than Amiibo Festival lmao). They did a damn good job translating it to an app though.

Agree with the above
Yeah, there is a privacy issue but that's true of literally any smart technology
And if I am shilling out my privacy anyway, I would rather do it for a phone that is more accessible than a phone that isn't
Super weird to me how people keep stanning android as this enlightened, ontologically good system when it’s been, on a fundamental level, a google product for at least a decade.

JSAUX Nylon Braided Cords (Micro USB/Lighting) - Part 2 (second half recorded)(final) (April. 6th, 2024)
No need for another “On This Day” throwback post.
Hey guys. Sorry for keeping it waited on this before this month ended. So anyways, welcome back to this continuous topic review of my new braided cables. Last time where I’d covered my long awaited charging test to my Samsung Tab E device, It’s time where I also covered my recent iPad tablet device here. Thankfully at the same day after did with my Samsung device’s charging test, I’d moved quickly to another one with my next device I’d mentioned. Without further ado, onto this final part share.
⬆️ (29th Image; back in 2:41 P.M.)
Switching things right along, I’d now recorded with my recent iPad device to charge up. Since now that with my Samsung Tab E full on battery; all thanks to my new blue braided cables from the first half review, I’m able to use it to take photos with its camera app. It worked fine from years later and the image quality was good. 👍 There’s more photos from during this second half review I’d gotten. Anyways, this here’s after letting my iPad device’s battery life drained about hours later.
Tumblr media
⬆️ (30th to 31st Images; from 2:45 to 2:47 P.M.)
It’s a right time to bring my red colored braided cable in good use. I’d took it out to give a good look before plugging with my Apple charger adapter. It was exactly designed from my blue braided cables, but ya know; differently designed lighting type of cable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
⬆️ (32nd and 39th Images; from 2:48 to 2:57 P.M.)
Now I’m plugging to my red colored braided cable into this Apple charger adapter. Good thing now that for the adapter stills functional, but also alongside with its original lighting cable I’d previously used for my recent iPad device in few years or less. I’ll do in comparison post with my normal cables for another time. Now back to this topic review, its charging progress had finally started when checking onto my iPad device. Looks promising that I’m good for having those new charging cables; from my mom’s help we’d ordered from in Amazon.com. 🙂👍
Tumblr media
⬆️ (40th to 41st Images; from 2:58 to 7:20 P.M.)
Hours later when checking on my iPad device’s battery, it’s now fully charged at 7:20 P.M. that sure felt this long. That’s my opinion before going to bed during nighttime. 🥱 Nevertheless, at least its get the job done with my red braided charging cable; same goes for my blue braided cable from my first half review. Though looking back its charging time from where the beginning; at 2:53 til 7:20 P.M., it took about less than 4 hours in comparison with my blue braided cable to my android tablet for 5 hours. Doesn’t matter which is charged better or quicker, I’m very glad when going through my new braided cables for the first time.
My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: ⬇️
Completed through this second/final half review, my red colored braided lighting type cable definitely fits to my recent iPad device. Though having to wait hours later for its charging test to get through before bed regardless. That being said, I did my best to get by when writing this review from it. All in all, I’m very happy for my new cable upgrades to set up. Do wish them last longer for future uses and among with my other tech items I can charge with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⬆️ (From April 6th, 2024 to May. 19th, 2024)
Before signing off, here’s another close up for both braided cables that includes putting both straps in. As for its length, this is far I can get before photo shoot on my bed. Nevertheless, I’m sure they’re both similar in length beyond their differences.
Hope you guys enjoy this final review topic I’d really wanted to have. I’ll be taking care with my new braided cables as I can, but taking a break before saving some new topics and continuing ones soon. For now, here’s to a final week til June 2024 and to everyone gotten plans for the summer. Good luck! 👋
Also, this. ⬇️

Threads, Meta's new social media app, has signed up 100 million new users less than a week since its launch last Wednesday, making it the fastest-growing app in history.
Like other social media apps, users probably barely scanned − or skipped − the terms and conditions for what information Threads can collect, share and sell about them.
Meta probably already had a lot of information about users because Threads is built upon its Instagram platform.
Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.
So how much does Threads already know about you, and what can it do with that data? Here are a few reasons to be concerned about your privacy.
What information does Threads collect?
Social media platforms monetize user data by selling relevant ads based on your location and activity, but, along with the usual app privacy requests like browsing history and location data, Threads also asks for financial information, health and fitness data, diagnostics and a nefarious-sounding "sensitive info."
Many users have voiced concern over Threads for its 14-point list of data permissions you're granting Meta to use the app. Twitter, by comparison, has 10 of these.
"I would say it's at the outer boundaries of what's usually expected, which is to be expected from its connection to Facebook, a brand long known for being especially hungry to take in user data and commercialize it in different ways," says Dan Ackerman, the new editor-in-chief at Gizmodo, a leading technology, science and culture news publication.
Android users can toggle off some of the data requests from the app, while the Apple App Store is "more take-it-or-leave it," Ackerman said.
"It also doesn't help that there's no browser-based fully functional version of Threads right now, and so you have to use the app version," he said.
Meta declined my request for comment and clarification.
Is Threads data collection worse than Twitter?
It's not necessarily malicious, suggests Tim Bajarin, a veteran technology analyst and Chairman of the San Jose, California-based market research firm Creative Strategies. "Users should know this Threads data list is pulled directly from Instagram, and it's all tied to their advertising engine when they start to monetize Threads.
"When you sign off on financial info, for example, they're not looking at your bank statements or anything," Bajarin said.
Rather, Threads collects what you're posting about and liking, where you are, and whether you bought something through a third-party site, app or game you logged into using your connected Facebook/Instagram ID (usually to avoid creating a new password altogether).
Bajarin said users are granting Meta access for future advertising.
"Meta isn't giving you a free app out of the goodness of their heart − they're there to make money, which is mostly from advertising."
Threads can collect and save this information, and the data can also be shared with third-party services that connect to your Threads profile.
Can you deactivate Threads?
Yes, but you cannot delete it without also deleting Instagram, Bajarin said.
"Meta built (Threads) on the Instagram infrastructure, on top of the program itself, and so it would be very difficult to uninstall one and not both – at least the way it's engineered today. ... They could eventually be spun out to be completely separate apps," Bajarin said.
To deactivate (but not delete) your Threads account, Adam Mosseri − the Instagram boss who now spearheads the Threads app – says you can choose to hide your Threads profile and content, delete individual Threads posts and set your profile to private, as reported by USA TODAY contributor Jennifer Jolly.
"Threads is powered by Instagram, so right now it's just one account, but we're looking into a way to delete your Threads account separately,” he posted.
Ackerman said the fact Threads is built on Instagram is actually a boon for Meta and users, "as it's especially easy to sign up for, has no wait list, and is simple to use." But "in order to delete your Threads account after you sign up, you’ll need to delete your Instagram account, as well, which reminds me of the difficulty people had deleting their Facebook accounts in the past, and how there was a lot of fine print about what data Facebook would keep unless you jumped through extra hoops."
Is the Threads app safe?
Threads is asking for more permissions than Twitter, so it boils down to your comfort level.
Though some of the privacy permissions seem ludicrous – granting Threads access to health and activity data and other "sensitive info" on a smartphone just seems wrong – no one is forcing users to install and use Threads or any other social media app that monetizes its free platform by delivering personalized, contextual ads to you.
Threads is available in more than 100 countries, but perhaps it's no surprise it isn't available in the Europe Union just yet: Meta was forced to pay more than $400 million by EU regulators for forcing users to accept targeted ads.
Personally, I am using and enjoying Threads quite a bit but wish there was more clarity about how my data is collected and used. And I'm disappointed Meta declined to clarify things.
I select "Ask not to track" on all iPhone apps to reduce an app's visibility into my web browsing activity, and I have a virtual private network (VPN) on my computer for extra privacy, but perhaps it's true there is nothing truly free in this world – it's just up to each person to decide whether the cost is worth it.

i know i've said this before but the iphone vs. android discourse is truly so insane to me. whenever the debate is had or people trash on android users or whatever nobody brings up the fact that iphones are drastically more expensive than androids. like if you're buying the newest top of the line samsung or whatever then yeah the cost is comparable but you can buy a decent new android for much cheaper than you'll ever find a new iphone and it'll last just as long if not longer. this isn't a comparison of quality or anything this is just saying that the whole debate is so classist because people never seem to account for price as if cell phones aren't expensive investments. i have a pixel which is ostensibly an expensive android and it still cost less than any of the iphones that were being sold at any of the stores i looked at including the refurbished models

A really great example of this is a phone brand out of the Netherlands called a Fairphone. They’ve been developing user repair friendly phones, and they’re super hardy and they only have four phone generations out (each phone is rated and users have mentioned having the same one for about 8 years a pop!), and they’re rather cheap at around 300$ (in comparison to an iPhone XI or whatever the fuck) and not only that, they’re also apart of the IRMA (Initiative for responsible Mining Assurance) which focuses on human rights, supportive workplaces, trying to reduce environmental impact, the nine yards. For American users, they’re also apparently compatible with phone services like TMobile and AT&T, and run on android systems.
Anyway; yes. User repair is v important and should be implemented across the board. Sorry for the long post! 😅
Something that I think should be an important part of solarpunk aesthetics is screws.
Look at your smartphone. No screws. You've got to have specialized tools to get inside your phone to repair something. There are certain pieces of tech that are glued in place and glue can't be undone without permanently breaking the bond.
But screws!
You can take apart a broken old radio, repair what's broken, and, if you were careful in taking it apart, you can put it back together and have a fully functioning radio and all you need is a common screwdriver!
It's hard to build screws and other mechanical fasteners because it requires more planning than clamps and glues, but isn't that what solarpunk is all about‽ It's about care and sustainability and and a radio or a computer built carefully with repair in mind is a sustainable computer that stays out of landfills and in use.
