trying bread with poolish for the first time. made the poolish last night with a literal pinch of yeast. like not even a third of a ¼ teaspoon measure's worth of yeast. to say a negligible amount of yeast would be generous. made it around 5PM, and by 9PM it had done fuck all. risen like 1 milimeter, if that. real Press X To Doubt kinda poolish. left it alone in the most room temperaturiest room in the house and went to bed
approximately 10 hours later when i got up, for a total of 14 hours of poolish fermenting, it had at least quadrupled in size and was still growing. hadn't even started to collapse yet, which is apparently the premier time to use a poolish. the dough is made and resting between bowl folds at the moment and it's already smoother than every other bread dough i've ever made at this stage. it already felt like it had been kneaded when i went in for Bowl Folds Round One. the loaf isn't even baked yet and i might already be a poolish convert
#voxbox#breadblr#is that a thing? do people who like making bread post about it on tumblr? well they do now#we're still several hours out from a loaf but i can already tell a difference just in the dough itself#it's so soft. like a pillow. handles like a dream

Today I tried to bake garlic bread. It tastes good and I like the crust, but the inside is dense and cakey. I don’t have a lot of bread knowledge but I figure it’s something to do with kneading.

i dont care about your frog shaped bread but only bc i am still convinced i hate seeing food even tho it doesnt make me feel sick anymore like. i probably should decondition the reaction or whatever but as soon as i see food its ):< bc it takes two seconds and half a brain cell to add the word “food” to your tags
#i have so many fucking variations of food tags filtered#i dont even need it anymore but i still get like. peeved. seeing it#and am still honestly a bit worried about ending up the same way i was last year and before that and having to tag it all over again#so like. why stop filtering it.#most of the irritation is like. i have so many things filtered but i still dont catch everything like#you can tag fucking bread and breadblr and breadcore or whatever the fuck but you cant. tag the word food. okay.#anyways. im tired goodnight

felt cute, made some pecan honey challah
[ID: A loaf of challah bread with chopped pecans sits in a parchment lined pan on top of a pumpkin themed puzzle. One half has 3 strand twists and the other is smooth.
/EndID]
#baking#breadblr#is that a thing?#cottagecore#more like half challah and half sandwich loaf#the twists melded together on one side 😞

@studtato replied to your post “//2018.01.15// Though the day got off to a rocky start (Mondays!, what…”
ive been seeing a lot of gradblrs baking bread lately, is there a breadblr tag going on? what recipe did you use? 😁
I didn’t know baking was a thing in the studyblr community. It kind of makes sense, though. I found kneading very calming and it takes your mind off whatever troubled you before^^ This breadblr tag is not a bad idea! It should become a thing~ Let’s do it!! I used this recipe here. It’s simple and if a complete beginner like me succeeded, then it might be called fool-proof as well😂 Do you bake bread too? :)
