Woo-hoo, everyone~ we’re half way there! 💥 To celebrate all your awesome work, we’re offering a semi-resting, semi-inverted pause… Day 6 of #isbalancingact is #dolphinpose 🐬 or #halffeatheredpeacockpose Be sure to do some forward folds to warm up hamstrings and calves. Start on knees and hands, like tiger pose. Rest forearms and hands on the ground, push into your hands while lifting knees off the ground- it’s ok to have bent legs or have a log or cushion under your heels. We are looking for a balance between effort and effortless in #makarenasana @ikadewiyoga If your legs permit, walk forward to a comfortable spot...Ahh... breathe!! Use a block and/or strap to keep those arms hugging in slightly to support those precious shoulders! (slide 2) 🔥Options for dolphins seeking more balance 🐬 🔥Feet on the wall. Happy Winter solstice!! ❄️🔥❄️🔥We’re more than half way through #isbalancingact Day 7 of #isbalancingact is, for some of us, any #plankpose variation including #sideplank ...for those of you who already got their planks on.. please see previous post! 😉 There are sooo many ways to play with balance and stability in these postures! Some emphasize more core or shoulder work, but do or modify what is comfortable for you! ☺️👍👍 Traditional (or modified on knees) plank on hands will obviously distribute your weight evenly through the shoulders and on the hands. Push out through shoulders, but don’t let collar bones cave in. Day 2 #ISbalancingact Fantastic balancing everyone!! 😍👍👍 Today’s balancing pose is any #dancerpose variation. 🌟Please take care to warm up shoulders and legs before getting into #natarajasana . ☺️👍 @yogayely @larkinyogatv demonstrate opening the shoulders and chest by kicking back leg back while @asanavanessa emphasize the stretch of the lifted leg and challenge the balance and core a bit . Use wall, furniture or window sill like @omniyogagirl and @roxsyoga for support. ☺️ For more stability and grounding, slightly bend the standing leg. For more of a challenge, stand on tip toe like @omniyogagirl you can go into it with a traditional same sided grip or a cross-grip like @cyogalife 🌟🌟👍 #bekindtoyourself ❤️If your shoulders or quads are not up for full dancerpose, you may also simply grab the foot, and not extend the leg as @erikafischeryoga demonstrates. Happy Xmas eve! ☺️❤️✨✨ Day 9 of #isbalancingact is any variant of #chairpose #utkstasana There is so much going on here in terms of balance between the front and back of the body. Take care to keep belly engaged to keep pelvis neutral, to protect the lower back and lean back so weight is in your heels. If your heels do not reach the ground, place a folded blanket under the heels. Using a block in between the arms or thighs help active those muscles a little more. If lifting arms straight up is not your thing today, you can keep hands on hips or prayer position. Breathe and enjoy!! Hip bones high....not quite stacked but my hamstrings are tight and having serious sciatic pains today which made this an extra challenge! Sciatica is the price I pay for travelling by plane, but yoga definitely helps ease it a little. .
