I got a meditation cushion (Zafu) for Christmas! I am also *almost* able to get into full lotus position, I think I need to be able to open my hips a little wider so whilst I am practicing I do not sit in this position for long as I want to make sure I'm not causing any injury to my knees. I've actually been using this video to help with this pose: https://youtu.be/vtBLuv4IMOM As it explains really well which joints need to move, how to best get into lotus and not to push yourself! Lotus position is important in certain meditations which traditionally require a specific posture such as Zazen or sitting zen meditation.
