I have some things to talk about, which I felt and saw after I got my CBSE 10th results.
Everyone takes credit. Like relatives who for the whole year kept saying, "our children also gave boards, why are they (my parents) acting like it's such a big thing?", "they are showing as if only they have work and they are busy, we are useless na", came to say, "she is our daughter/granddaughter, that's why she excelled in her exams." I do have a lot of respect for them and yes, I love them a lot too and also you can take credits of it, due to their ashirvad I was able to excel in the exams but why act like they are "only" reason I got good marks in it ? I would like to give 50% credits to my parents and the rest to me and my God. There was also a time when my father was not able to give the monthly fees of my school for 3 months, but he managed to keep me in a English medium private school by working his ass off. My mother left her social life, didn't even go to ISKCON (her favourite place) so that she can keep her full attention on me. We went through so much financial issues in 2022 and 2023 (first half) but my parents didn't let my education sacrifice. I, didn't take any tuitions so that I do not put extra burden on them (another reason I didn't take tuition coz I prefer self study more than tuitions). Me, who got so stressed because of my class 10 boards that by the time my exams were near my mental health worsened. I was getting suicidal thoughts and got introduced to new health problems which still haunt me, hypertension and palpitation. But still, I worked hard, my closest friends helped me, my parents helped me and most importantly Krishna ji, Ganesh ji, Radharani ji and Mahadev helped me. My struggle was totally mine and no one fought the war inside me other than me. So before taking the whole credit, atleast for once one should think about the people who really worked hard.
Second, this comparison shit kills one inside. No, I didn't compare myself to anyone as my parents never taught me that nor they ever compared me to anyone. Basically me and my maternal uncle's daughter are really close. And she is quite average in her studies. But trust me she is an amazing dancer, singer and artist. I envy her because of the great acting skills she have. But according to that typical thoughts, her parents always compare her with me and try to demean her, on the thing that she is not much good in studies and I'm comparatively good in it. Her results came out some days ago, as she used to study in an ICSE school and to be honest, she did amazing. Getting such marks is not so easy in ICSE board. Yesterday her mother kept comparing her with me and made her feel insecure and bad. Like why ? What do you get by hurting a child ? Why the actual fuck can't you ever be satisfied with whatever she got ? Praise her, tell her she is amazing, bring some confidence in her instead of making her feel so insecure that she starts to kill her feelings for everyone. Please freaking stop that. My mother, as usual a boss lady, replied her so sassily that my sissy ran to her and hugged her for 15 minutes straight. All of my closest friends got above 90% and I got below it, but God my parents didn't think about that for even once. They kept praising me.
So this was a rant post and you can totally ignore it if you want. Sorry for writing such a long ass thing, I had a lot to burst out.
And also sorry if there's any spelling mistake.
Congratulations to all the 10thies and 12thies for acing your exams. Everyone did amazing. I'm proud of you.

If you have free time, what will you teach your disciples?
One devotee in Mayapur once approached HH Jayapataka Swami and asked him,
“If you have free time, what will you teach your disciples?”
Probably, Prabhu expected him to say that
Maharaja would teach deep aspects of Radha Krishna Bhakti and secrets of the Bhagavatam and pastimes of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
Surprisingly, Maharaja’s answer was very different. He said, “If I have time to teach my disciples, I would teach to respect their parents, elders, friends and Vaishnavas, teach them to help, serve and assist others in their service, teach them to forgive and forget others mistakes, teach them to show love, affection and compassion to their God Brothers and Vaishnavas, teach them to have a big heart to accept everyone without any conditions.”
Maharaja further continued and said that, “if you love someone, someone will love you. If you show mercy, someone will be merciful to you. If you judge someone, someone will judge you. If you have trust and faith in someone, someone will have trust and faith in you. If you insult someone, someone will insult you. If you encourage someone to serve Guru and Krishna to their ability, someone will encourage you in this regard. If you harm someone, someone else will harm you too. If you show compassion on the face during another devotees sorrow or fall downs and secretively enjoy his state at heart, someone also will do the same to you.”
Prabhu said that this was all worldly and materialistic aspects.
Maharaja immediately said that this is the problem with our devotees. We talk high principles of Bhakti and preach extensively about Krishna Consciousness, but fail to realize and imbibe these so-called simple but great human qualities, which are the very foundation of Vaishnava character.
Maharaja also said the main impediment which retards the growth of a Vaishnava is the envy and ill feelings towards other Vaishnavas who are contributing their mite to serve Guru and Krishna.
Prabhu understood the in-depth feelings of Maharaja and thanked him for enlightening him on this very important but most fundamental aspect.
Please accept this sharing of wonderful pastime as a humble service at your lotus feet from your insignificant servant.
Please forgive for any offense and bless me to realize and imbibe this wonderful qualities

There is no question of being misled. But if you purposefully mislead yourself, who can check? In the beginning you may commit some mistake, but when you study Bhagavad-gītā---who is sādhu, who is mahātmā, who is guru---then why shall we make, commit mistake again? If you have done mistake---you have gone to a rascal who is not Kṛṣṇa conscious---then when you read Bhagavad-gītā, you can understand. Why you are misled? Why you should be misled? If it is written on the road, "Keep to the left," why should you be misled and go to the right? Go to the left; then you are not misled. Why shall we go to a rascal? Simple directions. So if you are misled, if you are cheated, whose fault it is? But if you want to be cheated, who can check? Even though somebody by mistake has gone to a rascal, the book is there. As soon as you find out, "Here is a rascal who does not know anything about Kṛṣṇa, and I have come to him," reject him. That is stated in the śāstra. Gurur apy avaliptasya kāryākāryam ajānantaḥ parityāgo vidhīyate. Even by mistake you have come to a rascal who does not know how to become guru, you can reject him. Why should you stick to him? Reject him. And by mistake I have come to rascal. Why shall I continue to accept him as guru? Cāṇakya Paṇḍita said, tyaja durjana-saṁsargaṁ bhaja sādhu-samāgamam: "Give up all rascals. Associate with sādhus." If you do not do that, that is your fault. Tyaja durjana-saṁsargaṁ bhaja sādhu-samāgamam. We have to mix with sādhu. Sādhu means who are twenty-four-hours engaged in Kṛṣṇa's service. Things are there. Why should you mix with asādhu? Then how can you understand? Ādau śraddhā tataḥ sādhu-saṅgaḥ [Cc. Madhya 23.14]. If you have got little faith, then next business is to associate with sādhus. Room Conversation Jan. 31, 1977, Bhubaneswar. please Chant: "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare" 16 mala everyday. If one purposefully commits mistake and sinful life, "Now I am chanting Hare Krishna. I can do all sinful life.. It will become counteracted," that rascal will be punished very, very much. "I am living in Vrindavana. Oh, it is dhama, so let me do all nonsense. It will be counteracted." They'll be these cats and dogs and monkeys in Vrindavana. 1975 #krishna #iskcon #motivation #success #love #innovation #education #india #creativity #inspiration #life #quotes #Chandigarh #Devotion

Saat Phere and Radha
A strange sense of thrill infused Diya and Rishaan on their visit to Goa that day. There had been an agreement between them at dinner time when Diya had announced her decision to ring her marriage bells in front of the God in the ISKCON (Krishna) temple, Goa at the time of deep-aradhana.
“If Kate can solemnize her marriage in ISKCON (Krishna) temple, Goa, so can I,” she had argued passionately.
Rishaan was griped in upset voices, “Kate is the daughter of an IAS officer. She can have that luxury and resources.”
Kate was the best friend of Diya and used to come every day and both used to bolt themselves in the room of Diya for hours.
“Besides,” she added, provoking him deliberately, “In the eyes of God, we all are equal, IAS or no IAS.” She was not rather sure whether he had listened to this bit, for he had already turned away in antipathy. But after dinner she caught him again.
“That horrid Mission school she attended to” which meant he had heard….”She was a spoilt child,” she caught him murmuring.
She was convinced that he had not taken her seriously. That was the trouble with men: they always presumed that women are not sharp enough in such matters and if they would accept their intelligence and ability unquestionably, their manliness will be dimmed.
But women have to endure such inadequacy without complaint. Even back home she had to come back before the evening flurry of lamp-lighting started. But boys at home were free of this burden.
Diya cried a lot. She did not know how time passed by. She was not emotionally strong.
Rishaan approached her and touched her shoulder. She shrugged and started crying inconsolably.
“Why are you crying?” He asked.
“Sit down and listen me carefully.” She said.
She then showed him an old photograph of her and Rishaan sitting in a temple.
That photograph took him to their past days spent together. A past full of sweet memories.
She was his sweet love; his angel. His everything. Everything of her’s will be his’.
His heart was melted. Love became victorious.
She wept as she held his hand.
She bolted the door so that he might not leave the room.
“Don’t say no to ISKCON (Krishna) temple, Goa. I love you,” were her passionate words.
She kept on repeating her wish but Rishaan was hesitant to go to ISKCON (Krishna) temple, Goa, to solemnize their marriage.
Not everything in life had a reason, to say yes. He lost out to her emotions. He ultimately surrendered and said ‘Yes.’
She inspired him in every possible way. She became a motivational force. He started dreaming. She gave his life a motto. A dream. A dream to be lived and conquered.
They booked tickets to Goa by Tata Airlines.
The great day came. They were very excited. At the right time they reached the airport and boarded the plane. They were very happy. But all hell broke.
In the same flight Rishaan met his old friend Kiarra and her seat was also with them. After initial introductory formalities, Kiara became very informal with Rishaan. They had drinks together too but Diya did not like all this at all. After dinner, all slept.
In the middle of the flight, Kiara woke up to go the washroom. When she returned, she was too lazy to push her way into the middle seat. And with Rishaan readily offering to shift seats, the seating arrangement changed. With 20 minutes still remaining for the flight to land, a sleep starved Kiara took another power nap, this time holding Rishaan's right hand more firmly. Rishaan's other hand, though, nervously moved to touch Diya's. Her heart skipped a beat. Diya pulled her hand away. But a defiant Rishaan held her wrist again, this time firmly and more reassuringly. The changing behavioral dynamics between the three perhaps gave out a foreboding of what was to come in Goa. When the flight landed at the Dabolim Airport, Rishaan felt uncanny..his excitement seemed replaced by an unknown fear that he found very difficult to decipher.
They reached the hotel Sea View.
Rishaan was in a dilemma, for the storm brewing in the hearts of all. He was trying to recollect the past of his life but was shocked that he couldn’t recollect even a thing. His mind was not working. Initially he thought, he was yet to awake from his deep slumber. But that was not the case. He realized that he did not know who he was. His mind became blank. In the brightness of the day in Goa, he was feeling darkness of night.
The clock struck four and Kiara could see the sun rise. Bringing with it the pink rays of the dawn and pushing the dark night and stars out. She had spent hours introspecting about herself and was still hovering in dark about hers and Rishaan relationship.
Her mind went numb and cold. During the tense hours of night only Scotch gave her much needed solace. She quickly gulped the alcohol, from the bottle directly. She could feel the Scotch running through her veins to the brain. The alcohol opened her mental faculties and it dawned upon her she was going to break a relationship and two hearts.
“But who am I?” Wondered Kiara. Her brain was flooded with millions of questions about her relationships with Rishaan. “Was I simple friend, or ‘X’, or an ordinary acquaintance…..Who was I?” She knew, even Rishaan or Diya in the hotel room would not be able to answer her puzzle. She was in a muddle. There was no one else, except those three. That reality added to her distress as her question was to remain unanswered. She felt claustrophobic in the room and rushed out of the room in the dark night.
The fresh morning breeze brought about some peace and comfort to her mind. She felt silly that it did not strike to her to ask Rishaan and Diys about their relationship and future plan. They would have ridiculed her for asking such a ridiculous question. She was broken, but she was not the one to give up so easily.
Kiara gathered courage to ask this question to Rishaan. He was her only hope and that was to be a clue about her future. Suddenly Rishaan also can out of the room. When Kiara saw Rishaan, her eyes filled with tears and she hugged him saying, “Rishaan, I know, you have got Diya in your life!” Her statement came as a shock, yet she gave comfort to Rishaan that she had admitted the reality.
She asked him, “How am I related to you?”
He replied very coldly, “You are my ex-girlfriend.”
Out came another question from her, “Since when were you dating Diya?”
He answered, “Since more than a year.”
Then she probed him about their future.
That was the stupidest mistake Rishaan made since he revealed his relationship with Diya, because, after that she started blabbering.
Rishaan had no option, but to listen her. It was crucial to listen to his ex-girlfriend. Her voice was very sad. Rishaan got lost in his past days spent with Kiarra.
She almost shouted, “Are you listening to me?”
“Yes, dear,” Rishaan muttered.
In a high voice, she posed like a school teacher, “OK, now tell me, what you heard?”
Initially, he faltered, but regaining his confidence, he started talking.
She became very emotional and said, “You don’t have to be worried Rishaan. You enjoy. Calm down please.
Then she opened her mouth full of pain, “You have cheated me.” She said.
Gathering courage, Rishaan said, “No one was at fault. It was destiny.”
“Yes for men, it was easy to blame destiny and go away.” She replied.
“Please enlighten me, how did I cheat you?” Asked Rishaan.
Rishaan was shattered when he heard her say that he enjoyed physical relations with her.
Again he was stunned and scared. His hands started shaking. She said how she gave you blowjob and he removed all her clothes.
“What non-sense! It was your consent too.” He said in utter astonishment and bewilderment.
“Yes,’yes, but now you are dating a new girl,” she retorted.
“What next? Please tell me? How I cheated you and played with your body?” He shouted angrily.
“Wasn’t this enough?” She asked angrily.
He said,” Please tell me everything; I have forgotten everything my dear?”
She sniggered and said, “Ok, listen, but calm down, you need to mentally prepare yourself for this. Again I will repeat my love making to remind you, how you cheated me and played with me?”
Rishaan was shocked and stunned. He could not speak nor could stay there. Rishaan tried to run inside the room.
Suddenly she said, “Listen, all that was a joke.”
Rishaan heaved a sigh of relief.
She said, “You were always very nice and decent with me.”
That gave her a sense of pleasure. “I told her you were exceptionally mischievous in love making.”
She gave him a naughty smile and said, “You were generic.”
He felt that his mind was blocked because of that ‘Scotch’ he had last night with her.\
Rishaan felt heavy. She came close to him, petted on his cheek and said, “Listen carefully, I always thwarted the idea of falling for you, but my heart always pulled me towards you. I could not resist your charm.”
Shocked on these revelations, he sat on the bench and listened more carefully to her.
“I was mesmerized by your charm. Sometimes you became cranky. But I made you happy by my foreplay. But I always saw a gap in you.” She told.
“You never talked about your love for Diya whenever I asked you about your any affair. You always looked at my breast cleave,” saying this she revealed her breast cleave.
Rishaan was puzzled by her behavior, he asked, “What is this?”
She shouted at Rishaan, “Get out of your stupidity. It is time to come out of your innocence and understand things.”
He felt that she would cry or shout on him. So Rishaan prepared for her outburst.
“You never told me that you have another one in your life.”
I asked, “What? Where is your frustration heading?”
“Do you think that I am stupid or a whore to quench your lust?” she retorted.
“No, no. We were both drunk and both young, so all the wrong thing done.” He replied very coolly.
This was followed by a volley of abuses for me. Her word started hitting his heart like a sharp javelin.
He gathered courage and apologized to her, “I’m sorry Kiara,”
“Only sorry? Man has got the license to plunder a woman and leave her. God bless you and Diya and protect you.” She said in a loud voice and left him spellbound.
Kiara, silently left the hotel room. She reached the ISKCON (Krishna) temple. She arrived at the abode of Lord Krishna. She saw the majestic door of the temple. She knew about the temple. The idol inside was infinitely more beautiful than the ones in other temples.
She circled the majestic temple slowly and slowly. Her mind was full of new and different ideas. Some were good and some were bad. Then she almost ran along the long, bright wall, inviting the curious attention of passers-by, but who could not keep up with her. The river of tears ran through her eyes.
The eastern frontage of the temple enchanted Kiaara. She reached the holy water tank which has the collection of waters from different holy rivers. The jade green-clean water attracted her. In the enclosed area, reserved for women bathing, women were taking holy dips without any hesitation and shame, chanting holy hymns. They were thumping each other on body and back.
Pigeons whirled and cooed on the roof top, the walls. The dawn and early, pink sunlight, their incredible mix of spiritualism and mysticism, inside the conical hall and inner sanctuary, clutched to her heart making her forget her past and her attachment to Rishaan. Quickly she moved through the temple. Standing in front of the majestic idol of Lord Krishna, she almost felt like lost in Him. She felt fabulously isolated there, floating breathtakingly between earth and sky. The bathers in the tank were just floating souls, the pigeons flying white-black-red in the sky, she felt like one with them.
But her feet were turning cool and heavy. The muhurt of deep-aradhana was near. She stood up in front of the idol, hand folded, eyes closed. She touched the deep-pole three times for good-luck, moved swiftly, bowing her head in obeisance. She bowed a dutiful greeting to the majestic Lord Krishna, folded her hands and touched her eyes before the white, visible Krishna and swiftly moved towards the crowded main sanctuary. A memorable fragrance of deep oil and flowers welcomed her. All the devotees stood in front, their eyes closed, their lips moving in an ecstasy of mesmerizing hymns.
She saw big bell above. She leaped up, pushed the bell with one echoing sound and was down the steps before anybody understood what was happening. She sat on the steps of the temple. Love or relationship with Rishaan became inextricably mixed up with serious bonding for her own newly acquired spiritual salvation. She was unaware of the surroundings. She was feeling amazingly light-hearted, wonderfully contented. She decided to stay back in the temple.
She was in dire disgrace. She contacted the head priest Pundit Krishna Das. She took diksha. Her tight-lipped silence was infinitely more expressively than speech. For the silence seemed filled with thousand voices singing within her. And she was quite and quite sure that the all merciful Lord Krishna within the temple will protect her and bless her, in whose eyes all are equal, and He has accepted her with love. Now she was a sadhvi. Ma Radha to the world.
Kiara was singing and dancing with devotees. She reached near the main idol of Lord for darshan.In the main hall, in front of the idol head priest Pundit Krishna Das was reciting;
“Om Sarva Mangala Mangalye, Shive Sarvartha Sadhike,
Sharanye Trayambake Gauri Narayani Namo-stute”.
And a young pair was taking pheresaround agni (Fire). Groom was in white dhoti-kurta and bride was in red sari. Both were knotted by a pink chunri. Pundit ji further recited in loud voice;
Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha –
Nirvighnam Kuru Me Deva Sarva-Kaaryessu Sarvadaa
At the completion of seven auspicious phres all threw flower petals and auspicious yellow rice over the newlywed couple. Kiara, now sadhvi Ma Radha, in saffron attire also threw flower petals and yellow rice, with eyes closed. When Kiara opened her eyes, she found in front of her, Rishaan and Diya as groom and bride.

TOP 10 INDIAN MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKERS IN 2021
It needs no explanation that the year 2020 has been one of the most difficult years for the entire humanity. The personal losses of loved ones, job losses, uncertainty, chaos, and everything that we knew as a world came to a halt in 2020.

On re-initiations and compromised Guru’s standards
[5:06 PM, 9/11/2018] Gaura Keshava Das SP: Someone asked this question: [5:06 PM, 9/11/2018] Gaura Keshava Das SP: Jay Sriman Narayan, dear swamiji, pranams, according to sastra when the spiritual master brake his sannyas vows and engage in sensual contact with women against their will, and manifest an adharmic behavior what happened with the diksha mantras and upavitam? Does a disciple needs to take initiation again in those mantras from another guru? What about his own sannyas disciples? Does they to need to retake sannyas? Thank you 🙏 Namaskaram
My answer:
There is only one reason why someone will take Vaisnava diksha and mantras again after taking it once already according to sastra:
avaiṣṇavopadiṣṭena mantreṇa niyama vrajet purnas ca vidhinā saṁyag grāhayed vaiṣṇavād guroḥ Hari Bhakti Vilāsa 4.366 (from Nārada Pañcarātra)
"One who is initiated in the chanting of a mantra by a non-Vaiṣṇava must suffer in hell. Therefore, such a person should be initiated again according to the rituals by a Vaiṣṇava guru."
Different people make different interpretations of what it means to be a Vaisnava guru. However in the same book Hari Bhakti Vilasa Vaisnava is simply a  person who himself has taken diksha from a Vaisnava and who worships Lord Visnu. The disciples mantra is not effected by any actions of a Vaisnava guru after diksha. It is the disciple that has to chant and meditate on the mantra. Therefore in my opinion there is no sastric rule to do anything except if one needs siksha take shelter of appropriate siksha guru(s).
Some people suggest that an immoral or doctrinally wrong Vaisnava guru is to be considered as a non-Vaisnava. I don't agree. He can be considered a fallen or neophyte Vaisnava but how is a fallen or doctrinally off Vaisnava considered a non-Vaisnava. In Hari Bhakti Vilasa when the positive simple definition of Vaisnava is made also non-Vaisnavas are also defined. The definitions are Buddhists, Atheists, Jains, etc. So it is pretty clear that in context none of these people are non-Vaisnavas.
There is a common misunderstanding in ISKCON that re-initiation either Vaisnava or Sannyasa is an option. I don't agree. Show anywhere in sastra where it is suggested? There isn't anywhere. The ONLY sloka that deals with taking a mantra again is the one I just quoted and it is pretty simple. Of course if one wants to interpret non-Vaisnava to mean anyone who acts or says something not accepted by oneself that is their business. But if we make the definition of Vaisnava so specfic then how do we know when approaching a guru to take diksha whether he is a Vaisnava or not? If secretly he is fallen even within his mind or heart and this is considered to make him a non-Vaisnava then how can anyone judge a bonafide guru?  The simple straight forward meaning of the sloka is to be taken unless someone can give other sastric evidence in context of this quote. I have done that above and I can cite the definition of Vaisnava and non-Vaisnava in HBV if needed. Other people just give their opinions but where is the sastric explanation of their ideas? There aren't any.
Brahma Muhurta: Thank you for this. The only thing I was wondering about on this subject was when the guru has given but hasn’t attained Siddhi in the mantra. But, say for instance they have attained Siddhi and then have some sort of fall down later after giving the mantra. The mantra Siddhi/purascarana has been attained by the guru and been given accordingly it can retroactively be pulled back. Now the disciple is a caretaker of the mantra. It seems to limit the ability of the mantra to live if it is retroactively “de-activated”
GKdas: Mantras have inherent power. Naturally one might search for a siddha or person perfected in the mantra one wants to take mantra diksha from. However whether the guru is a siddha of the mantra or not, the sisya still has to himself practice the mantra and become siddha. The idea that some sisyas mantra can be deactivated by something a guru does or does not do, I've never heard before. If there is any sastra pramana for this I don't know of it.
There is a common pramana amongst Gaudiyas:
avaiṣṇava-mukhodgīrṇaṁ pūtaṁ hari-kathāmṛtam śravaṇaṁ naiva kartavyaṁ sarpocchiṣṭaṁ yathā payaḥ
"One should not hear anything about Kṛṣṇa from a non-Vaiṣṇava. Milk touched by the lips of a serpent has poisonous effects" Quoted in Hari Bhakti Vilasa from Padma Purana
Note the words hari-kathāmṛtam means "talks about Hari" and certainly one should not hear the words of Advaitins or others who give wrong siddhanta about the Lord. Mantras are not specifically stated. However Mantrārtha or the meaning of mantras should not be heard from Advaitins or others with wrong siddhanta. This is sometimes quoted by people as a reason not to hear a mantra from anyone but a siddha in that mantra. However in Gaudiya Vaisnavism the system is Hari Nama Sankirtana. Or Congregational chanting of the name of Hari i.e. Krsna. We have to ask if the chanting is supposed to be congregational, then does this mean one has to only chant with siddhas? The fact is that Caitanya mahaprabhu took the chanting to the streets of towns and villages of India and spread it amongst people who were not siddhas of the mantra. So did Ramanuja spread the mantra from the top of the Gopuram to all and sundry not just siddhas. They wanted everyone to take up the chanting and meaning of the mantras. They wanted people to become siddhas of these mantras. But no one was restricted by them from spreading these mantras on the plea of not being siddhas of them.
The Narayana Upanisad clearly states om namo narayanayeti mantropasakah vaikuntha bhuvana lokam gamisyati. The worshiper of om namo narayanaya mantra will go to Vaikuntha. The mantra has this power. It never says that only the hearer of this mantra from a siddha will go to Vaikuntha.
BMdas: What exactly do you mean by "say for instance they have attained Siddhi and then have some sort of fall down later after giving the mantra. The mantra Siddhi/purascarana has been attained by the guru and been given accordingly it can retroactively be pulled back."The guru does not give mantra siddhi. As you mentioned the system of purascarana or purascarya is for the sisya to perform to attain mantra siddhi. So if gurus gave mantra siddhi then why would the sastra have these systems of purascarana or purascarya? What I mean is that the guru attains Siddhi through purascarana then gives mantra to his or her sisya. After this happens the guru has a fall down. Now of course the sisya needs to attain perfection in the mantra themselves, but the acts of the guru don’t retroactively affect the mantra. It was given and now the actions of the guru should not affect the mantra. The sisya can still go forward with their sadhana and perform purascarana of the mantra.
GKdas: In Sri Vaisnavism both guru & sisya are prapannas. Surrendered to the Lord. Therefore whether they perform actions to gain mantra siddhi or not doesn't really matter. However for others who are followers of paths of individual efforts (non-prapatti paths like bhakti, karma or jnana yogas) they perform mantra sadhana (purascarana) to attain the perfection of the mantra (siddhi).
BMdas: [6:04 PM, 9/11/2018] Brahma Muhurta Das Ji: Sorry there was a typo. What I meant was it CANT be retroactively deactivated. [6:05 PM, 9/11/2018] Brahma Muhurta Das Ji: If mantra is given at one point it is given. It isn’t like an elastic rope that snaps back up the sampradaya if there is a problem later on if the mantra was actually given. [6:06 PM, 9/11/2018] Brahma Muhurta Das Ji: I completely agree with you Swami thank you for sharing all of this.
GKdas: All mantras are active according to mantra sastra. They have inherent power. Like wood has potential power but needs to be set on fire to release it. Similarly the mantras have inherent power but we need to know the meanings and practice the sadhanas with the mantras to get benefits. An example. A guru teaches a Vedic mantra with proper pronunciation of varna, svara, etc. The sisya learns it. Later the guru forgets it. This has no effect on the sisya.
[6:11 PM, 9/11/2018] Gaura Keshava Das SP: Another example. One dvija takes upanayanam and is initiated in to the chanting of gayatri mantra. He later performs upanayanam for someone else and gives that sisya (son?) gayatri mantra. The guru (father) might give up the chanting of the mantra later on. But still this doesn't effect the sisya (son?) who is still chanting the mantra. The dharmas sastras (see Manu Samhita) give prayascittas for a person whose chanting of gayatri has lapsed for different lengths of time. But they never state that this persons' sisyas or sons also have to perform a lapse by the father or guru. People have to perform prayascitta for their own acts of commission or ommission. Not for others mistakes. [7:01 PM, 9/11/2018] Gaura Keshava Das SP: If people are interested we can discuss Hari Bhakti Vilasa 17th vilasa which is purascarana or purascarya attaining the perfection of a mantra.
Question by Neil:
Dandavats to all. Regarding the guru and disciple topic, I believe you were discussing primarily the mantra given by the guru to the sishya. But isn’t the relationship much more than that? For example, there are discussions of the imparting of ‘dead’ mantras because of the proper siksha isn’t given along with diksha, then what is the point? What is the potency behind a mantra? Isn’t it to have the proper conception (siddhanta) of the mantra, rather than just the mantra alone? Certainly the mantras are powerful in and of themselves as the maha mantra for example is directly Krishna Himself. Yet so many unauthorized camps chant the maha mantra. Like all the apa sampradayas, sahajiyas, etc. and we see those misconceptions have entered into Vaishnav institutions as well. In other words, if one was to receive diksha from say a ‘Vaishnava’ who has regular illicit relations as a part of their sadhana, clearly such a person is not a Vaishnava by their achar. Shouldn’t such disciple seek out a real guru to receive the mantra and the proper conception of the mantra elsewhere? That last bit was simply a gross random example, but improper conception and/or practice, behavior, etc. disqualify one from being able to impart a mantra? If I’m a guru for the name, fame, profit, adoration and distinction — if I’m a guru for material reasons and I cling to many philosophical misconceptions in spite of others trying to properly guide me. Wouldn’t mantra and siddhanta given by such a guru be useless if not detrimental? And thus necessitate proper diksha, which may appear to be re-initiation? Also, going back to the first post in this regard, if one’s diksha is still valid in the case of an errant guru, wouldn’t one be obligated to continue to worship said guru, chanting his pranam mantra and other associated mantras when one does their puja, etc.? Like for a disciple of Bhavananda or Kirtanananda, what to do? Also, I would like to hear the definitions of Vaishnava & non-Vaishnava from Hari Bhakti Vilasa as well as to discuss the 17th Vilasa. Thank you for this discussion 🙏🏻
GKdas: Regarding your ideas. I have already quoted two slokas from Hari Bhakti Vilasa explaining this.First I quoted a slokas saying that if one receives a mantra from a non-Vaisnava guru he should again get it with full (vidhina) rituals from a Vaisnava guru. Then I quoted a sloka that hearing the topics of Hari from non-Vaisnavas causes poisonous effects.I said that in context in HBV a non-Vaisnava is someone like an Atheist or Buddhist. And it does not refer to someone who might have a lapse in behavior like Tondaradipodi Alwar who fell prey to a prostitute or to one devotee of Lord Venkatesvara who gambled with the Lord, or to the Pandavas who drank wine, gambled and may have also eaten meat.I will now quote the simple definition of who is a Vaisnava from HBV which is the context for the quote about not taking mantra diksha twice if one has taken it from a Vaisnava guru. You yourself have accepted that mantras have inherent power. So unless you have some sastra pramana that shows that the power of a mantra is completely negated by the giver of that mantra not being a perfect siddha then your idea cannot be accepted. I am not saying that one should not try to find a perfect mantra guru who is a siddha of that mantra. I'm just saying that the mantra has some inherent power and the sisya has to practice it no matter what the siddha or not of the guru. Some mistake by the guru cannot totally negate the inherent power of the mantra. Otherwise if we say that the power of the mantra is only coming from the guru and not anything from the mantra itself we don't find this idea given in sastra. So if you have any sastra pramana to quote to back up your idea then please present it. Otherwise I will give the simple definition of Vaisnava and non-Vaisnava given in HBV in the context of the pramanas I have already given on taking mantra upadesha.
Sri Vaisnavas continue to chant the Tanian (pranam mantra) of Tondaradipodi Alwar despite the fact that he was victimized by a prostitute. Lord Ranganatha even arranged to pay the prostitutes fee for his Vaisnava devotee. He is one of the greatest devotees. His being victimized by a prostitute doesn't change our honoring him for his deep devotion to the Lord. You ask would a person continue to praise his guru if his guru acted in such a bad way. I think I have just answered that above. The guru is always to be honored. If he makes some mistake then still we have to honor him for giving us the mantra (and correct upadesha). We do not honor any bad behavior or bad upadesha that he might do or give. Therefore we have to be grateful for what he has given which is in line with sastra and sampradaya. But we also have to discriminate as to what might be wrong behavior and\or upadesha. Ramanuja honored his first guru Yadava Prakasha even though he wanted to kill Ramanuja. He did challenge the bad upadesha of his guru in a respectful way.
gṛhīta viṣṇu dīkṣāko viṣṇu pūjā paro naraḥ vaiṣṇavo'bhihito'bhijñair itarosmād avaiṣṇavaḥ
"One who is initiated into the chanting Visnu mantras and is engaged in the worship of Lord Visnu is called a Vaisnava. Those who do contrary to this are non-Vaisnavas." Hari Bhakti Vilasa 1.55
"Jaimini, Sugata, Nāstikas, Kapila and Akṣapāda (Gautama) are mental speculators. Those fallen souls who spend their lives under the guidance of these philosophers are counted as mental speculators. A guru should not give instructions about the worship of the supreme Lord to such people." Hayaśīrṣa Pañcarātra
Naturally such persons will not be Vaisnava gurus or sisyas. They are non-Vaisnavas.
There are some other slokas giving qualities of non-gurus (aguru lakṣanam). But they mostly are details. I will post them for completeness.
BMdas: Thank you for sharing this. Even if the Guru is not perfect, the sisya is still indebted to him/her for what good things they have been given. Namely the mantra
GKdas: Yes, and any mantrartha or meaning of the mantra also. Or any other good example or instruction. Note that Ramanuja had one guru Mahapurna who gave him the mantra, and another guru from whom he learned some inner meanings of the mantra, Gosthi Purna. It is not that a guru who only gives the mantra and not the mantrartha is honored less.
GKdas: bahvāśi dīrgha sūtrī ca viṣayādiṣu lolupaḥ hetuvāda rato duṣṭo avāg-vādī guṇa nindakaḥaromā bahu-romā ca ninditāśrama sevakaḥ kāla-danto'sitauṣṭhaś ca durgandhi śvāsa vāhakaḥduṣṭa lakṣaṇa sampanno yadyapi svayam īśvaraḥ bahu pratigrahāsakta ācāryaḥ śrī kṣayāvahaḥ"If a person accept a guru who eats voraciously, who is lazy, who is greedy for acquiring material objects, who is fond of arguing against the śāstras, who is mischievous, who is happy to expose others sinful activities, who is a blasphemer, who have no hair or too much hair on his body, who lives in a condemned state or āśrama, whose complexion is black, has black teeth, who is very cunning, who accepts a great deal of charity even though he does not require it,  then all his good fortune and opulence will become exhausted." Tattva Sāgara
[3:31 PM, 9/12/2018] Gaura Keshava Das SP: There are also many descriptions of the detailed qualifications of gurus. But we cannot say that a guru without one of these details isn't a guru. Some gurus are not expert in Vedas, Yantras, Mantras, Yagas. [3:34 PM, 9/12/2018] Gaura Keshava Das SP: Many in and around ISKCON are very very interested in analyzing the qualifications of gurus. They do not sometimes consider if they themselves are qualified sisyas.
There are 104 rules mentioned from Viṣṇu Yāmala that Gauḍiya Vaiṣṇavas sisyas are supposed to follow listed in Hari Bhakti Vilāsa 2.149-162
BMdas: Exactly we’ll put. It starts to become a thing of looking for the faults in the guru in order to flat out reject him in order to have an excuse to basically be ungrateful for anything that the guru did do. That mood won’t move well into the other aspects of a sadhakas practice
Gkdas: Gurus and Sannyasis also are like white cloths. People see any small dark spot. Whereas a black or dirty cloth one cannot see small spots. Sri Vaisnavas are lucky that the Lord and acharyas accept us as prapannas without any qualifications. 🙂

BHAGAVAD GITA: CHAPTER 1, VERSE 3 --------------------------------------------------------- Pashyaitaam paanduputraanaam aachaarya mahateem chamoom; Vyoodhaam drupadaputrena tava shishyena dheemataa. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. "Behold, O Teacher, this mighty army of the sons of Pandu, arrayed by the son of Drupada, thy wise disciple! Commentary: Duryodhan diplomatically pointed to his military preceptor, Dronacharya, the mistake committed by him in the past. Dronacharya had once had a political quarrel with King Drupad. Angered by the quarrel, Drupad performed a sacrifice, and received a boon to beget a son who would be able to kill Dronacharya. As a result of this boon, Dhrishtadyumna was born to him. Although Dronacharya knew the purpose of Dhrishtadyumna’s birth, yet out of his large-heartedness, when Dhrishtadyumna was entrusted to him for military education, he did not hesitate to impart all his knowledge to him. Now, in the battle, Dhrishtadyumna had taken the side of the Pandavas as the commander-in-chief of their army, and he was the one who had arranged their military phalanx. Duryodhan thus hinted to his teacher that his lenience in the past had gotten them into the present trouble, and that he should not display any further lenience in fighting the Pandavas now. #radhe #krishna #jaya #likes #nitai #flute #matki #hare #govind #gopal #laddugopal #laddu #selfie #devotee #iskcon #forever #love #insta #bhagavadgita #bgquotes #bhagwat #gita #mahabharat #bg #dailyquote #gitaquote #Bhagavad #Gita #Gitasaar #Sanskrit Shlokas #Krishna #Arjuna #Hare Krishna #sanskrit #bhagavat #bhagavad #bhagwat gita For more detail please visit - www.thegitasaar.com
