oh my GOD in the FIRST EPISODE ALONE:
- nick listening to jess’s advice about talking to caroline
- he literally turns down a date with the girl he’s been crying over for half a year because he realized jess was getting stood up
- he RUNS to her at this fancy restaurant
- pretends to be her boyfriend
- and then SERENADES HER with the song from the movie he knows she watches to feel better
and then every time he looks at her for the rest of the series he looks at like he is devestatingly in love with her

😳😍👽
Thank you for the ask! From this ask game.
😍 One of the earliest whump scenes/stories you enjoyed
I really have no idea. That was over 25 years ago, and I have a shit memory.
We watched Stargate when it first aired on German TV, and I was about 11-12 there, and Daniel was my fav. The Crow (TV Series), and for less adult-oriented shows, Sailor Moon and The Mystic Knights of Tir Na Nog, were other favs. But whether the scenes my pasta strainer brain remembers are something I noticed when I first watched it? Or thought the same about it? Who knows.
😳 A whump trope or type of whump you grew to enjoy
In the suspected spirit of this question, I can't think of any. When I found this place, I had already spent about 20 years tormenting my chars, and most themes have stayed largely the same. If several hundred books and video games, and several years of online rp haven't added it to the stack, it's at least unlikely a tumblr fic will.
👽 Favorite nonhuman whumpee species or character
In reading, I don't really have one, though I am fed up with vampires. I'm also not really into anything fitting under the tiny trope umbrella. Not because of whump, just in general. Otherwise, I'd be willing to give everything at least roughly humanoid-shaped a chance, if the premise is good.
In writing, the only ones I have so far are my plant guys, which are based heavily on GW2's Sylvari, and they're so much fun.

I never liked the naming conventions from tv tropes. It felt kind of artificial and would age poorly. Like it was based on the writer’s own preferences rather than studying a broad phenomenon of tropes.
Let’s be honest here does anyone still use “Batman’s Gambit” do describe anything anymore?

if you’re going to make a ménage a trois film it should at least be a proper fucking love triangle. with three sides and everything. why do you people find the concept so very complicated when threesome (1994) of all films found it so dreadfully easy

I think there's no greater indication that disco elysium is sympathetic towards communism when it literally says "communism is failure" and then the literal gameplay itself rewards trying and failing. The most obvious one being the Shivers check at the FELD mural, which is an Impossible 20 check BUT opens itself up again and again the longer you spend in the world doing things, but even just looking at sheer probabilities, for any given white check, rolling first and THEN putting a point into that skill upon failure is more likely to grant you success than putting a point first and then rolling, but that would require failing first.
Other things too: Precarious world saying you'll 100% fail red checks no matter what (not necessarily a bad thing, btw!! throwing the boule into the sea is a success but like. in some other ways one would want a perfect petanque throw instead. but people wouldn't typically assume that failure is desirable sometimes from the start) persuading you to accept that you'll fail some things that is irrevocable, for a world where everything is just a tiny bit easier.
The faux game over screen when you faint after reading Dora's letter— emulating a sense of failure on the scale of the entire game. When it rolls up most people go "What?? Game over?? No way, what did I do wrong!!" and waking up after that, with no huge or lasting impact on Harry's health or morale really tells the player, "Sometimes things will seem so bad that it all seems like it's coming to an end, but it's not the end, it's really not the end, go drink so water, you can still go on despite this failure"
I'm sure there are other things as well that are eluding me but like. The literal gameplay rewards failing and succeeding far more so than simply succeeding every single time, and I think you get a fuller experience of Elysium that way too

The reactions to Chaggie in these episodes really do show the different ways some families react to someone coming out
Charlie’s (estranged, not super close) Dad: YOU LIKE GIRLS?! THANK GOD! WE HAVE SOMETHING IN COMMON- hahahaha
Vaggie’s ex-family that literally hurt her and kicked her to the curb: Disgusting. Can’t believe she likes you, you worthless piece of shit. You better betray her or we’ll reveal stuff about your past.

Prompt 136
There is a small child floating in the Watchtower.
They’re visibly not human, a too-big cloak of purple (what shade no one knows, all they can describe about the cloak is purple, nothing else) hanging from them as big Lazarus-green eyes glare down in something of a pout. The child huffs, blowing white hair out of their face despite it shimmering and shifting on its own already.
How the child, inhuman or not, found their way into the Watchtower- without setting off an alarm no less- is a concern. A very large concern, but it can wait because there is a four-year old (if the child is the equivalent of a human child that is) at oldest staring down at them.
“Do you know where the speedsters are?” the child piped up after an awkward stare-down, none of the league members present quite sure what to do in this situation. It was probably around time to call Batman… or they could call Flash instead.

Darrell's first day as a ship's cat and bosun's mate on the tall ship Lady Washington!
Here he is inspecting the quality of coils, making sure passengers were heeding the "no smoking" rule, and standing bow watch through the anchor hawse.
He looked very dapper in his PFD and sunglasses! (I highly recommend looking into Surfer Cat for harnesses and PFDs made to fit cat bodies specifically. their gear is well designed, and they are a small company with excellent customer service!)
