One of my favorite parts of phase 2 (and indeed one of the few moments I resonated with IDW Prowl) was when the neutrals were coming back to Cybertron and Prowl said that he refused to let Autobots be pushed aside and overruled after they were the ones who fought for freedom for 4 million years (the exact wording escapes me atm).

And I mean, that resentment still holds true even once the colonists come on bc like. As much as it's true that Cybertron's culture is fucked up, and as funny as it can be to paint Cybertronians as a bunch of weirdos who consider trying to kill someone as a common greeting not important enough to hold a grudge over.... The colonists POV kind of pissed me off a lot of times, as did the narrative tone/implications that Cybertronians are forever warlike and doomed to die by their own hands bc it just strikes me as an extremely judgemental and unsympathetic way to deal with a huge group of people with massive war PTSD and political/social tensions that were rampant even before the war?

Like, imagine living in a society rife with bigotry and discrimination where you get locked into certain occupations and social strata based on how you were born. The political tension is so bad there's a string of assassinations of politicians and leaders. The whole planet erupts into an outright war that leads (even unintentionally) to famine and chemical/biological warfare that destroys your planet. Both sides of the war are so entrenched in their pre-war sides and resentment for each other that this war lasts 4 million years and you don't even have a home planet any more. Then your home planet gets restored and a bunch of sheltered fucks come home and go "ewww why are you so violent?? You're a bunch of freaks just go live in the wilderness so that our home can belong to The Pure People Who Weren't Stupid And Evil Enough To Be Trapped In War" and then a bunch of colonists from places that know nothing about your history go "lol you people are so weird?? 🤣🤣 I don't get why y'all are fighting can't you just like, stop??? Oh okay you people are just fucked up and evil and stupid then" ((their planets are based on colonialism where their Primes wiped out the native populations btw whereas the Autobots and OP in particular fought to save organics. But that never gets brought up as a point in their favor)) as if the damage of a lifetime of war and a society that was broken even before the war can just magically go away now that the war is over.

Prowl fucking sucks but he was basically the only person that pointed out the injustice of that.

And then from then on out most of the characters from other colonies like Caminus and wherever else are going "i fucking hate you and your conflicts" w/ people like literal-nobody Slide and various Camiens getting to just sit there lecturing Optimus about how Cybertronians are too violent for their own good and how their conflicts are stupid, with only brief sympathetic moments where the Cybertronians get to be recognized as their own ppl who deserve sympathy before going right back to being lambasted.

Like I literally struggled to enjoy the story at multiple points because there was only so much I could take of the characters I knew and loved being raked over coals constantly while barely getting to defend themselves or be defended by the narrative so like. It was just fucking depressing and a little infuriating to read exRID/OP

I did NOT like how there was little to no substantial development surrounding Noir this season. Instead, they reduced my mans into a comic relief character, which don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy sometimes, but don’t we already…. cough cough have the deep for that? cough

Like they could’ve done something so much more impactful with the og Noir, but noooOOO kripke just HAD to kill him off, and for what? Just for a few little scattered jokes here and there? Meanwhile this entire season has been an absolute uncoordinated mess???? ((Ik Kripke was planning to kill off Noir since the very beginning, but WHY?? 😭

I can see where they might be heading with a potential showdown between Noir II and Soldier Boy in S5, maybe mirroring the disfigurement of the og Noir or sth? But the way they've been building up to that so far just doesn't feel very compelling or efficient to me personally. it just feels they’ll land another lame “haha” moment for the audience and call it a day when it comes to that point

Impactful story arc? Nope- thrown straight outta the window

Woman; young and pretty molly-cat named Dee Dee who Chaney has feelings towards; and badass warrior terrier named Bethany who is cool and strong, did we also mention badass.

The wolves are scattered and unfit to fight the war alone but so are the cougars. The two forest animals also are written in a really racist and anti-indigenous way and the dogs and cats are written like white people, but you’ll all ignore that. The dogs stay loyal to the wolves but some cats stray away and side with the cougars. During the conflict, Chaney falls in love with a she-wolf named [Really racist/stereotypical name] but is stuck between becoming mates with another canine or breaking the never-before-mentioned rule of “Dogs and cats don’t mix” and being with Dee Dee the young and pretty molly-cat. But besides that he grows suspicious of the wolf pack leader, “Stereotypical ‘scary native’”, believing him to work with the cougars to betray his pack for some reason.

The author of the novel, Gerald Ivy has done a solid 2 days of research where he cites [Outdated info] as his main source of research of pack dynamics and animal behavior. He stated in an interview that regarding his least favorite characters, they were Unicorn and Dee Dee and stated, “I was relieved to kill off Unicorn I got tired of writing her to be honest. Dee Dee going missing and never being mentioned again wasn’t a mistake I just forgot about her.”

Disney has bought the rights to a movie adaptation of the book and fans couldn't be more excited

How is it that he went from chaotically good in the movies to a straight-up menace in the show? (honestly, this is just a rant.) In the show, he was awful! constantly breaking boundaries, almost killing people (drought episode) kind of went over the line a bit bullying Branch. like in the movie I was fine with it because you know it was only some light teasing. In the show, he was a terror!!! (didn’t he at one point put a tracker on Branch) I think I would’ve been fine if Cloud Guy was a terrible person if the other acted like he was a terrible person, But that's not what happens!!! In “the beat goes on” everyone just acts like “Oh! it’s just cloud guy😋” “He’s so cool, and he’s bringing you out of your shell Branch.” I loved how in TrollsTopia they actually acknowledged how terrible he can be with the whole “cloud guy hate group”, but I hated how they straight up just undermined all of their problems in the end just with “they’re making you a better person” like no he’s a menace who won’t leave!!! I’m just saying if they ever do a third show he needs to be discussed and he needs to become public enemy number one.

I wish in general discussion of ADHD that executive dysfunction wasn't used to just mean difficulty with task switching and task initiation.

Like, there's so much more that is a part of executive functioning! Executive functioning includes impulse control, emotional regulation, working memory, attention, awareness of time, goal formation, planning, and that's not even all of it. It's a broad catogory of cognitive processes, not just a single symptom.

ADHD symptoms do mostly fall under executive dysfunction because ADHD is an executive functioning disorder.

In general terms, it's not wrong to include difficulties in task switching and initiation in executive dysfunction! They are certainly a part of that! But oversimplifying executive dysfunction to only be task switching and initiation difficulties isn't accurate and gives an inaccurate picture of ADHD as a whole (or at least, from what I've seen, it impacts the discussion surrounding ADHD negatively).

It might just be me. idk. But discussing precise problems while calling them by a blanket term can make it hard to identify what exactly the block is. For example, if I'm having trouble getting started on a task and I just say "oh I'm struggling with executive dysfunction right now" that doesn't tell me anything about what's wrong. But if I say "I'm struggling with task initiation; I keep meaning to do it but don't know where to start" then I can think through the steps to start. Or if it's motivation, "I'm struggling with motivation" means I can think of how to overcome that. "This is overwhelming" means I can plan. "I don't want to stop what I'm doing/this is a task switching problem" means I can decide if I need to finish the task at hand or trick my brain into swapping.

(This is a separate problem but then you also have people saying execytive dysfunction is laziness or results in laziness when they are meaning that difficulty with task initiation. Even if it was true that difficulty with task initiation was laziness (it's not), saying that executive dysfunction = laziness is so incorrect. That would mean poor short term memory = laziness. That would mean hyperactivity = laziness. That would mean emotional dysregulation = laziness. And none of these are even CLOSE to true. That's another issue though.)
