i miss this look

merlin’s secret being a visual thing. when he is around arthur or gwen or leon or morgana or [insert whatever character here] merlin seems pale and thin, almost like a ghost or an apparition. when the sun lands on him he reflects it like a corpse, he eyes seem dark and dull. he has this ethereal beauty to him, this otherworldly visage that leads many to believe he is of fae blood. he just doesn’t seem to be 100% human. but when he is ONLY with lancelot or gaius (cough or gwaine bc gwaine DEFINITELY knew) merlin is heartachingly human. merlin shines in the sunlight, colors are brighter and more vibrant around him, and his smiles are wide and his laughs are boisterous. he takes on color and leaves everyone wanting to know him. but when other join in or interact with the two, merlin shifts before their eyes so quickly and suddenly that they aren’t sure whether or not what they saw was a trick of the light. the idea still leaves them wanting more and wanting to see the merlin who is just so full of life but that merlin only appears for a small select group of people. merlin who has a guard so high that it has an effect of other’s perception of him.

thinking about be cool scooby doo fred on this delightful evening. he's afraid of widths. he gets emotional over a drumkit. he knows how to apply eyeliner perfectly. he's a sleep deprived, paranoid, manic danger to himself and others. he becomes enemies with a goat. his shoulders are so tense that they can break a chair. he goes to jail twice. where on earth did he get the funds to give the mystery machine all those high-tech upgrades. he hired a guy to make his epiphanies look more dramatic. the exterior of his house is an affront to god. he cannot take care of himself to save his life. he is a middle aged dad stuck in the body of an eighteen year old. he has childhood trauma related to halloween. he accidentally parked his van on a space shuttle. he is consistently aggravated by daphne’s commitment to the bit. he really needs to let go of those tiny red shorts. he's a court jester. he represents the order to his criminal father's chaos. he has control issues stemming from this but tries to overcome them for the sake of the gang and always apologises when he goes too far and knows that even when they wind him up it isn't a threat because he loves and trusts them so much and they care about him in turn even before he fully opens up to them about his childhood and—

Leo offers them a short bow. "Thanks. And same to you! This is still pretty overwhelming, but I'm excited to see how it all works out."

"Your baby's so cute!" Mikey interrupts, with all the subtlety you would expect. "Are they part Kraang?"

His brothers and their guests turn their heads sharply toward him, eyes wide with shock, and perhaps fear.

The moment is broken as Raph grabs him by the shoulder. "The heck is wrong with you?! You can't just ask them stuff like that," he rasps.

"But they look like a Kraang," Mikey innocently pleas.

Leo steps between the two, but reserves most of his attention for the younger. "Then I should remind you that not everybody likes the Kraang, or even the Utrom. If that's what this kid is, they probably wanna keep it on the down-low."

Understanding seems to wash over Mikey's face, and he turns to offer a sheepish apology to their new companions.

Donnie seems to be one step ahead of him, however. "Please excuse our brother, he didn't mean anything bad by it. One of our best friends is actually part-Kraang herself."

His brothers collectively facepalm as Donnie smiles up at his counterpart.

man i really love drawing cucurucho as like. a happy lil bear. not at all menacing. goofy fluffy guy , and then its posture or the context is what turns it terrifying, and its still just fucking smiling, and its just a silly little creature whose expression never changes and maybe it can change or maybe it can't but that doesn't change the fact that you are in hell and it's laughing at you and it wont stop. you will crash yourself bloody into the bars of your cage and it will laugh while you cry. it's shaped like a friend and it isn't your friend at all. enjoy the island.

and mr theo solomon is a TERRIFIC voice actor. every single line he imbues with layer upon layer of thoughtful and evocative emotion, tone and shades of inflection. it’s truly a delight to hear his work! it’s no secret that larian shafted wyll’s amount of screen time compared to other characters, and even with those constraints, both of his voice actors crafted such a wonderful character with a compelling story. i hope for future interviews and features that allow mr solomon’s artistry to be appreciated

reading a book series right now (enjoying it thoroughly) and there are some spicy scenes ✨ and in the first book, it was like two peppers spice. something about contracts. second book was a little bit more, and this third book the author was like "okay, in for penny, in for a pound" and put their WHOLE ass into it. it's an exquisite enemies to lovers.
