Hello, Snow! I hope you're doing well. Do you mind sharing your top 5 favourite foods/recipes that you love to make?
Hiiiiii Iris omg hi!!!
This ask made me so excited, I love food and cooking. It’s something that I don’t really have the spoons to do as often as I used to right now, but these are the top foods I make when I can/ used to make often:
1. Loco Moco
This is a Hawaiian dish I thought I kind of made up. Basically, it’s white rice topped with hamburger, brown gravy, and a fried egg. When I was talking about the recipe to a friend, they told me about loco moco and that’s how I discovered the dish! Mine is a little different as I do not form the hamburger into a patty, I just cook the meat and add whatever vegetables I have on hand to it. But yes it’s tasty, cheap, and doesn’t take too much effort!!!
2. Spaghetti bolognese
If I don’t feel like rice, I go with pasta. I usually want rice, but variety is the spice of life. Anyway, I don’t have a set recipe for the sauce! I just go with whatever I have added to cooked ground beef. Usually tomato sauce, onion, garlic is the base. I love adding herbs de Provence to the sauce too.
3. Grilled cheese
Mmmm god I love grilled cheese sandwiches. White bread, with melty cheese in the middle. Use mayo on the bread instead of butter. Sounds weird but it makes it sooooo crispy and nice.
4. Soup
Okay this one is cheating because I’ve never made a soup from scratch myself. But I love… canned soup. Soup makes up so much of my diet lately because it’s something cheap I can make without too much effort at all. All kinds of soup are the best soup. Plus it’s fun to try a can I haven’t before. Enrichment!!!
5. Cabbage rolls
These I haven’t made in a very, very long time because they take a lot of effort. But god I love cabbage rolls. Ground meat mixed with rice, then wrapped in a boiled cabbage leaf. My absolute favourite is to use sour cabbage which is a special kind of cabbage that’s prepared to be very vinegary (basically it’s sauerkraut). My dads side of the family makes them every special occasion and I look forward to eating them so much 😢
