something about me i think is really funny is that i get so awkward about writing about serious topics because it makes me feel like my middle school self who wrote super edgy fan-fiction with no understanding of the subjects i was writing...
like i know i've done research and put a lot of thought into it and it's there for a reason and the story wouldn't work without it, but my heart does not and so my immediate response to writing the words "infidelity" or "cocaine" into my outline document is to shrivel up and die.
#this is about my 27 years in between fic i've been working on...#it's basically richie and eddie meet by complete coincidence about five times over the course of 25 years#and have like. single weekends of “holy shit this guy completes me and i don't even know him”#and each meeting is at a very distinct point in their lives and they keep forgetting each other after#so they have bits and pieces of memories but nothing substantial but a very deep feeling#and the last meeting is a complete mess#they blow up at each other it isn't nearly as fun as before#but it kinda kickstarts them turning their lives around#and the next time they meet its 2014/15 and they've both totally upended their lives and moved into the same apartment building#and this time they become like. actual friends#not just brief weekends of passion but actual “i know you better than i know myself” friendship#and then mike calls and its like. wait a second???#i know canonically the way the amnesia works is that they'll remember each other if they see each other just not specifics#but i can do whatever i want so#red's wips#posts afflicted with a strange sickness

#i know I'm 25 and I've reached that phase of life#and the weddings i was invited to this year were for my much older cousin and my friend who's ~4 years older#but man#people are out here getting married and they've known each other less time than I've been with my partner#meanwhile I'm out here trying to make sure my relationship uh continues and we're long distance without a solid end date for that#we've spent 3.5/nearly 4 years long distance#and I'm tired i just want to come home to him every day or just see him on a random Wednesday night#sorry to anyone seeing this i just feel old and tired of everything i want being out of reach

was marveling at how many new species i’ve added for my patch this year and thinking “that’s weird… i hammered it just as hard in past years…” only to check ebird and realize the most times i’d ever gone in a previous year was 38 and i’ve been 62 times so far this year and it’s only October 😂😂
#like. lmaoooooooooo#part of that is because i went throughout the summer this time and i didn’t add any new species then#so i feel like luck and skill STILL play a pretty significant part here#but like. Damn. lol…#i wonder if ANY other person in this state can say they’ve been to one spot 62 times this year…#truly getting into patch birding was the best thing i’ve EVER done#i’m OBSESSED with this place while simultaneously knowing that it doesn’t actually matter at all#i’m literally ONLY in competition with myself here#and meanwhile i’ve put this place on the map and have a whole gaggle of new friends now bc i’ve attracted them there with my reports#it’s insane#literally nearly 25% of ALL the checklists for this place are mine 😂😂#i love it so much#the real question is: how many more new species can i add by the end of the year?#optimistically i’d say there’s potential for five or so depending on how much hawkwatching i’m able to get in#but 1-3 is probably more likely#WE SHALL SEE!!!!!!!!!!#i’ve already broken my record for ‘most new species added in one year’ as of today!!#which is impressive considering the fact that once i add a species - i can’t add it again - so repeats don’t count#i’ve just had some REALLY good luck this year istg…#but i’m proud of myself#and i’ve gained the respect of a bunch of the old-timers which is also fantastic
