to go along with that poll though... you should try rereading, as an adult, books you hated in high school or college. like. i cannot stress how much more sense they will make. (sometimes. personally i don't think i ever will understand the appeal of Moby Dick but that's probably more a me-problem.)
you change. you see things. you learn things. you start to understand what empathy actually is and see things from other people's povs. and suddenly that book you thought was so incredibly dumb becomes an "oooooh" moment because you realize it was bigger than your developing 8th grade brain could realistically process.
we force kids to read books too young -- like, yeah. you should be forced to read things that bore you or that you don't fully understand. that's how we grow. but also Romeo and Juliet was written about teenagers, not for them. no book that has been long considered a standard part of The Literary Canon should be tossed because college freshman find it boring. they're freshmen. they do that. they also think all-nighters, keg parties, and a steady diet of pizza and ramen are good ideas lol.
reread books you didn't get. there's a good chance you'll see why it was required reading.
“Astarion's voice climbed higher as he stumbled backwards three steps, and he was unnecessarily breathing, little fast breaths one after the other as Raphael came closer and closer and finally captured him with one hand around his arm, the other sliding around his waist. Astarion only then realised he was shaking.
Raphael tucked his head carefully into Astarion's neck, not even brushing him with his horns, and inhaled deeply.
the impact of the eggs is so felt right now that they're all gone and it's quiet and empty and no one knows what to do with themselves, but man... i still can't think of bobby's goodbye without completely coming unglued.
it's been months, and i still think about that fucking egg and sob like a baby. the qsmp as a form of media is unreal, absolutely unreal.
every time i see someone claim the ancients were a magical indigenous utopia to aspire to (with 'a few little problems'), and any criticism of them as a society is apologia for native genocide, i clutch my head in agony. never change, twitter
I love the tranquil, haunting music in Scavengers Reign that sometimes plays even when there is something scary or combative going on. The planet is just being the planet, creatures being creatures, circle of life etc. It's almost scarier when the whole environment is just telling you this is normal, this is fine. We're already playing your soft outtro, thanks for playing your part in the ecosystem. You might be an interloper here, but don't worry, a decay-loving flower will bloom from your corpse all the same.
Thank you for the tag @tonguetyd! My spoons are indeed low but my sleep schedule is GONE so. Random burst of energy let's go.

it probably says a lot about me that I have absolutely no idea how to answer this question; it’s so hard for me to say things outright when that niggling little voice in the back of my head tells me it’s selfish or grandiose of me to so openly declare want. plus, I’ve honestly spent most of my life telling myself that the ways I’ve been loved were good enough - even when they usually weren’t.
I love to be loved in ways that feel like breathing. see me and take me as I am, multitudinous and contradictory. love me gently, but with intent. know that I will push and twist and resist being loved because I feel I don’t deserve it even as I yearn for it. hold me, support me, feed me.
… so basically, love me like a very willful housecat 😅
The Ifrit's mind powers seemed to be entirely its own; and I guess it could probably even be argued that Nega might not have actually been aware of the extent of it, considering that the only two routes that the mind powers are seen in (Sonic/Tails and Knuckles/Rouge) are also the two routes in which Nega doesn't interact with the heroes in the Ifrit's dimension.
Which is still a damn shame cause we were cruelly robbed of the angst of Espio and Silver fighting each other like in those two other routes—BUT anyway
*yeeting open Word* WHO WOULD BE MORE LIKELY TO BE MIND-CONTROLLED, SILVER OR ESPIO
If I am not mistaken, Gerald apparently did a bunch of research on the Ifrit and wrote a whole book about it that Nega got his hands on... and then subsequently proceeded to lose basically all the pages of, lol. But one page says "The Ifrit held the power of destruction, and the power to blind one's soul…", as read by Tails. Of course, 'blind one's soul' is exactly the kind of vagueness that tells you nothing about what it means, but I figure the mind control is what is indicated with it. Interestingly, all four characters note that their mind-controlled companions do not seem to be entirely under the Ifrit's control and/or are trying to fight it and break free, so I figure it's something that can be warded off if the recipient is strong enough. Thus, even if Eggman Nega had somehow been able to make the Ifrit use it on Silver, I doubt it would have worked in the long run, considering Silver's determination and strong spirit and all. Same for Espio. I honestly think Nega would have been tremendously disappointed that the Ifrit's mind control is not absolute, haha!
So overall, we can conclude that Nega probably had little to do with the Ifrit's mind control. Though, I am wondering if there is an in-game reason why only on the Sonic/Tails and Knuckles/Rouge routes a character got mind controlled; it makes sense from a gameplay perspective because the other two groups are fighting Metal Sonic 3.0 instead and thus the 'rival slot' in the boss battle was already filled, but I do wonder. There's no doubt in my mind that if Nega had been able to control the mind control power (and the plot had had room for it), he'd have had no qualms to use it against Silver and/or Espio. I think it would have been quite nice to have Silver embrace Espio's help so much that he's able to fight him out of his mind control and care for him afterwards! Though in the same vein, Silver is Nega's archnemesis, so for him to be mind controlled instead and having Nega taunt Espio about it is interesting too. Hmm.... My curiosity is piqued!
one of my favorite taylor songs to listen to the first time was happiness because i have a visceral memory of hearing the line “i hope she’ll be a beautiful fool / who takes my spot next to you” and literally gasping out loud before hearing that the next line was basically taylor saying “oh no i take that back sorry” and letting out a little relieved breath and giggling like oh she gets me!
