Hiii again!! I wanted to ask for Sniper, Engie, and Scout reacting to the reader doing something nice for them after they had a tough day. Thank you!!

Anon, I had been wanting the opportunity to do something like this, so bless you, and I hope that you enjoy this! I sorta zoomed through Sniper’s, I hope it’s still good aaaa

Characters: Scout, Engineer, Sniper (TF2)

Warnings: none that I can think of—I made myself very soft while working on this

GN!Reader doing something nice for the Mercs after a tough day

Scout:

You’d noticed for some time that work really seemed to be running Jeremy down more than usual. He came back to base moody, unusually quiet. It was so unlike him.

Thinking back to just a few months ago…what a difference. You remembered how enthusiastically he’d come running in, holding something behind his back…quickly revealed to be a bouquet of bright red roses just for you.

“I didn’t know what your favorite was, so I thought I’d just got wit da classic!”

You had asked a question after that though, one you were especially glad you’d asked now.

“What’s your favorite flower, babe?”

“Me? …huh. Never really thought about that.”

You watched the wheels turn a bit, and a nostalgic kind of look came over him. Jeremy was quite the sentimental guy, if you hung out with him long enough.

“I think one time I got Ma these big yellow ones…lilies? They were real pretty. Smelled nice too. Probably those.”

So one day, a while before you knew he’d be getting back, you went on the hunt. Yellow lilies were tricky to find, but eventually, you secured a whole bunch and had them nicely wrapped up for your favorite fella.

You enjoyed their fragrance as you waited for Jeremy to get back…they truly were beautiful. You could see why he liked them.

Finally, the door swung open, and you quickly hid the bouquet behind your back, just as he had.

He looked exhausted…of course, his face lit up as soon as he saw you. “Ah, finally home. How ya doin’, doll? Sight for sore eyes, as always.”

“I’m good. I got a little surprise for you.”

His brows arched, curious, and you could see that infectious smile that seemed so rare these days beginning to appear again. “Oh yeah?”

“Well okay, might not be too surprising, but…” You sheepishly grinned as you held out his gift. “…I found some.”

Scout’s mouth dropped open just a bit before he couldn’t help but burst out laughing, delighted. “Aw, baby…they’re beautiful!”

You motioned for him to take them, and he did, admiring them with a softness to his gaze. Only seconds later, as he looked up at you, that trademark, somewhat mischievous grin came to his face.

You chuckled. Your boy was back. “Whatcha thinkin’ there?”

“C’mere, you~” He pulled you in and kissed you before you could even prepare.

His free hand lightly brushed through your hair as he pulled back, seeming to be at a genuine loss for words. “You are so sweet, ya know that? I love you.”

Giggling, you pecked his lips once more. “I love you too.”

Engineer:

Poor Dell had really been pushed to his limit lately. It felt like you hardly saw him anymore. He was always working on something. The demand kept on coming.

Lately, you had to get up early to get any decent quality time with him before he went to work. When he got home, he always just wanted to go right to sleep, and you certainly couldn’t blame him.

He felt bad, and told you as much, but you knew it wasn’t his fault. “Get your rest, honey. I know you’re tired.”

Even in the morning, he was always up before you were, and had breakfast ready to go. You talked as you ate.

So, after Engie had come back in especially rough shape the night before, with his first day off in months the following day, you decided to surprise him.

You were not, by any means, an early riser. But you had a feeling that Dell wouldn’t sleep in long, even on his day off. You’d even gone to sleep a bit early the night before.

Ever the keen-eyed one, Engie had questioned that. “Goin’ out already, lil’ nightingale?”

“Yeah, I’m sleepy. Besides, we got all day tomorrow, right?”

“Yessiree.”

You couldn’t help but smile to yourself as you got everything together. It was a whole lot of work, mixing up batter, making sure everything was cooked just right, and of course making the presentation easy on the eyes. But it would all be worth it.

Finally, you were all set. You scurried to his room, knocking to see if he was up.

“Almost ready, darlin’! I’m a little late, sorry ‘bout that…”

“Don’t worry about it, Engie, take your time…” Last thing your cowboy needed was to be rushed around on his day off.

Opening the door, he beamed at you. “Well, look at you! All bright-eyed and bushy-tailed already, huh? I got a feelin’ we’re gonna have a grand day, you ‘n’ me.”

“Oh, just you wait…I’ve got something for ya, baby. C’mon…”

“Whoa, okay—I had a feelin’ you were up to somethin’ last night, ya lil’ schemer…”

You just laughed, excitedly pulling Dell along by the hand.

“Okay, right in here.”

The still sleepy eyes that were normally hidden behind his goggles blinked quick in genuine astonishment as he took it in.

“Well…good word, that’s like the cover of a magazine there, darlin’! You do this all by yer lonesome?”

“Mhm! I got up early in the hopes that I’d beat you to it—can’t have you working hard on your day off! Just hope it tastes good…”

“It will, baby, I’m sure of it…” He trailed off a bit, and as you glanced over, you couldn’t get a grasp on what exactly was going through his head. Seemed happy at least. Maybe you were used to seeing only half of his face. But then he rubbed at his eyes just a bit…

“Oh, baby…you okay?”

“Yeah…just fine, darlin’, sorry, circuits are still a lil’ fried…” He sniffled, and without much thought you wrapped your arm around him, stroking his shoulder.

“Been real tough goin’ lately, real tough…wasn’t feelin’ like myself no more. And ya did all this just for me…for us…”

He leaned his head to the side so it rested softly against yours, taking a deep breath. “Thank you, (Y/N). You are a wonder. I adore you, you know that?”

You chuckled, pulling him close. “Thank you, Dell. I adore you too.”

You felt him jolt a little, but he made sure to kiss you quick before he moved at all. “Please tell me you’re havin’ some a’ this—”

“Yeah! Wanted to make breakfast for you, but eat it with you too.”

“Well, we better not let it get cold now, after ya worked so hard! C’mon, baby…”

You laughed as you were now the one being pulled along, with Engie still praising your hard work and delicious cooking every step of the way.

Sniper:

Lately, Mick hadn’t been telling you what was going on at work…which was weird. Normally, he really liked his job, and told you all about it. Lately though, he’d answered “how was work?” with the vaguest responses.

Sniper wasn’t the type of guy to word vomit about what was bothering him, but that cued you in pretty well.

You wanted to do something to help him, something to lift his spirits again. It took some time, but eventually, you hatched a plan.

One day, instead of waiting back at his camper, you made your way over to where the mercs normally exited the fort.

You waved to the rest as they ran past, more than a few asking what you were doing here. They could figure it was something to do with your boyfriend.

Mick was the last to leave…which was a bit weird. Must have really been working hard.

“Hey, Snipes!” Immediately, his head turned at the sound of your voice, taking a surprised step backwards before he quickly ran and skidded to a stop in front of you.

“(Y/N)? …whatcha doin’ all the way out here, darlin’? Everything alright?”

He looked…confused, but delighted.

“Yeah! I had an idea the other day…and I wanted to meet up with you a little bit earlier so I had more time for it. Let’s go back to the camper so you can change, then I’ll show ya what I mean.”

His eyes narrowed, trying not to smile at this. “Hm…alright. Keep ya secrets for now…”

It was only a moment before his fingers intertwined with yours as you started the short walk back. He tended to be a bit flighty when it came to physical contact, but you understood that.

Once Sniper was done getting ready, you grabbed the basket you’d kept hidden away. “All set?”

“Yep…ya want me blindfolded for this or somethin’?”

“Nah, I don’t want you to trip. Just follow me.”

You followed the path you’d drawn out the other day, although you’d come out here before you’d left the camper to lay out the blanket and get everything all comfortable.

Just as you’d planned, you got to the spot just in time to see the sun go down, and the stars had just started to appear.

A spot near a river, where the only sounds were from the wind and water, with the occasional birdsong and cricket chirp.

You’d had some help on this—Pyro, of all people, providing you with the necessary equipment and tinder for a little campfire. They’d been surprisingly helpful, even though you couldn’t understand them at all.

“I thought it might be nice to enjoy the nice weather and some dinner…oh, and uh, s’mores, if you want. I brought stuff for that.”

The normally more reserved and serious Sniper stood there for a moment, looking everything over. Slowly, this very peaceful smile came to his face.

You were used to him being quiet, but you just had to know what he made of all this.

“I know it’s sorta cheesy, but I hope—whoa!!”

Mick suddenly pulled you in close, holding you tight. You quickly returned the gesture, feeling the side of his face sort of brush against the top of your head.

“…I don’t got much words for this. Besides thank you. Ya have any idea how much I wanted to do somethin like this with ya, roo?”

You laughed a bit, closing your eyes. “Well, I wouldn’t have exactly guessed this, but…I had a feeling you’d been having a tough couple days.”

“You were right.” It took a good while before he pulled back, and even then, his hand still clasped yours. “I was.”

The firelight illuminated his eyes, and although the mellow tone of voice stayed the same, you could see it in his face just how moved he was.

“But that doesn’t even matter to me now. Cuz right now…it’s just you, me, and the stars, baby…c’mon.”

Going slightly rosy—you hoped he couldn’t see in the shadows that the dim light casted—you followed him, and the two of you sat down to enjoy your s’mores and each other’s company.

By the end of the night, both of you laid back on the blanket, full, warm, and happy, curled up together as you watched the stars glimmer above.

You felt a slight tap against your shoulder. “Mm? What’s up, Mick?”

He glanced to the side, once again gaining that shyness that tended to creep up on him. “…ya know how much I love ya?”

You couldn’t help but chuckle, moving over a bit to kiss him briefly, eyes fluttering closed.

You pulled back, teasing, “Does that answer your question?”

He looked back at you, starry-eyed and red-faced, starting to laugh along with you.

“Hehe, yeah…yeah it does.”

“But seriously, I love you too—”

I think a Balcony Scene™ between Basil and Ladybug would be very sweet! Say they got rejected by their respective crushes (or perceived themselves rejected anyway) and had to talk to one another for comfort à la the show.

I can imagine Ladybug telling Basil about how Catmint is so great but also so cold to him and Basil being like "Yeah he's the worst, huh?" and Basil telling Ladybug about his massive crush on his bestie and Ladybug saying "I bet he's not that great." And them bonding over their (failed) attempts to rebound while self-deprecating/boosting each other up. —Kae.

Oooh well almost spot on! I mean, it is the obvious route for their relationship – I really like those dialogues aaaaa thanks Kae !!

Basil is so down bad for Sunny and Sunny really cares about Basil because he is his first and only best friend but Basil has low self-esteem and thinks he's just too lame, unworthy of his friend and just cannot imagine himself going out of his way to confess to him. Sunny thinks that he's just some guy with anger issues who's just not suitable for friendships or really, any kind of relationships. He honestly sees himself as a bad guy, the kind to think of themselves "If they discover I'm such a horrible person they'll leave me" and. Poor fella. Man 🥹 One single argument or disagreement and bro will distance himself to a point of isolation and drown in negative emotions - and you know it's bad 🦋

Catmint is being a moody emo guy and Ladybug is tired of his shit but also kinda into that (who would blame him)

But yeah, deep inside, it does hurt Ladybug to be treated that way sometimes. Wait until he explodes 🤓☝️

Not revealing too much but even if being Catmint is synonymous of freedom for Basil, sometimes, he really hates being this cold sarcastic guy. Sometimes, he really, really hates being Catmint.

1. He will not show a hint of weakness until he literally collapses (because he is too embarrassed to admit his weakness because he is a BIG boy, or simply realizes too late that something is wrong with him)

2. He turns into a whiny, moody child with the first symptoms of a mere cold, becoming overly dramatic and demanding attention.

i think it can differ, depending on certain factors!! such as his attachment to you.

if you're just one of his bakers checking up on him because you're worried (and because you have a big crush on him) then he might give you a few tasks, but mostly he'll want you out of his hair. he doesn't need any of his workers knowing he's not feeling his strongest.

his back will constantly face you, not wanting you the see his sickly complexion.

prove yourself to him. prove that he can trust you. that he can depend on you in this time of need.

don't forget about him. pop in on him frequently. as much as he will deny it, he doesn't want to be alone forever.

be persistent. if he denies soup one time, he may accept it the next time.

be patient. he might come around.

once he thinks he can trust you,

then you best believe he will task you with all sorts of things.

oh but don't leave him alone for too long.

when he gets a high fever he will be even needier.

"mmh...y/n..cmere. i'm cold." even though he's 104 degrees.

he grabs your hands and rests them on his face. and you just have to sit there for a while. he's so warm.

but then the storm subsides, and you're left with the sleepy needy jack.

"come here...i need you." as he opens his blanket for you to enter his bed with him.

having been on your feet pretty much all day and him asking so incredibly sweetly, you don't delay in shedding a few extra pieces of clothing (like your bakers jacket, hat, etc.) before entering his bed with him.

almost immediately he engulfs you into his arms as he hums contentedly.

its suffocating. but it's heaven.

soon enough, you wake up at dawn, not even knowing you had fallen asleep.

this pattern repeats until he's feeling better....

...and you're not feeling your best.

GROUCHY POPS LA STANZA LET'S GO!!! HERE'S SOME MORE:

La Stanza makes Donnie go to his family parties as soon as he's able. It's hinted at in the story, but La Stanza has an ENORMOUS family that is the kind that makes everyone come home for every itty bitty little thing. Every birthday, every holiday, you are meant to come back and be there. Not all of his family is in crime so La Stanza has mega sketchy as uncle disease, but he brings great gifts for everyone which are accepted at different levels because they all know it's bought with illegal money. He's big on sneaking wads of cash into his Ma's sock drawer and she absolutely hates him for it and actually saved the cash in case she needs to bail him out or get him a good lawyer for when she assumes he's finally caught.

All that is to say, these are the big events La Stanza takes Donnie too. La Stanza's ride or die family would bend upside down over backwards and they're well known in their community so it'd be the one place in the Hidden City suburbs where they could both go even with the warrant out for Donnie. Donnie would rebel as a moody teen and not wanna go and be very pouty, but the littlier kids would take to him think he was so cool. He'd end up really liking it and be just as big as La Stanza when it comes to bringing the best gifts. He'd fix broken toys and things around the house and Ma would def be like 'this is my real son' much to La Stanza's wounded spirit (he secretly loves it and that 'his kid' ((he never says this out loud) was accepted so well by his family. I don't think this would stop Donnie from being a villain. i think these meetings would be just infrequent enough that Donnie would think 'that isn't me, that's just a face I put on because I must,' but the effects would branch. In this timeline, I don't think he would have wounded the other turtles the same way. La Stanza would have given him too much perspective on family to resent it the way he did. He'd still hate on them though, hater boi!

Supernatural i think the shows actually kinda old, but do i care? not one bit im also only at the end of the fourth season, and ive got ten(ish) more to go sooo- (if you know what the show is ignore this, but if not read on: its essentially about these two brothers (sam and dean) who fight supernatural beings title lol -- things like demons, ghosts, monsters, etc basically anything from old mythology from all cultures) anyway- love love love this show bc 1. characters are so good, and like well developed (continuing to develop throughout the show as well) like omg- 2. plot is literally amazing like wth, theres usually a bunch of plot twists 'n stuff, so it keeps you hooked alotta the time and 3. it might be dramatic, but it has its funny moments too (also the fandom is still like *aggressively* active with all the ships-) favourite characters so far- dean, older brother, loves food (like me sometimes), and the reason for most of the jokes in the show (as in he makes them, and ppl make some abt him) honestly hes just really funny and i love him platonically second favourite (he might actually be my first but-) castiel, he doesnt appear till the start of season 4 but its worth the wait, i think ppl find him annoying at first but hes so pretty and i aggresively simp for him platonically, hes also kinda dry but that makes it funnier- (fun fact, ppl ship dean and castiel together -- destiel -- so its funny that they're my two favourite characters-)

Merlin show got cancelled but used to air on BBC, its set in medieval times (king arthur, is legit a character but hes not king yet), so its got magic, sword fighting, the whole thing love the show bc again characters are amazing, plot is amazing, and while its dramatic it has its funny moments (also even though the show ended like ten years ago, fandom is still active and i love that)my favourite character is probably gwaine, i cant explain why he just is (if you watch the show you'll understand)

finally (but *definitely* not least) Haikyuu- idk why i think its mainly just bc the eng dub makes me smile every time i watch one of its episodes- and also probably bc i simp for so many of the characters (shhh-) also recently learnt im a bokuto kinnie do with that what you will *major* sakusa simp, he's just so pretty and i cant handle it, and idc if people think hes distant and moody and stuff bc i literally love him(you can probably tell that by the amount of kiyoomi content i reblog)- i also simp a lot for suna, just bc have u seen him hes pretty as sooo- its also bc i find him funny and i just love him ok? (also low quality suna pics i legit love for some reason-) a character from haikyuu i love but in a more platonic way, is bokuto, again he's pretty- but its also his personality is just so chaotic and i love him for it- especially when him and kuroo are together, it just makes things all the more funnier for me

They both have wonderful characters and really good casts and are so entertaining I highly recommend!! 😄😄💗

7. This is a bit of a long one but I had a hard time choosing a small bit.

13. Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, what have you been listening to recently?

I'm almost always listening to character playlists when I'm planning, but I get too easily distracted when I'm listening to someone else talking/saying words, so I almost exclusively listen to instrumental and lofi hiphop beats when I'm actually writing.

A short list of the albums/artists I listen to most often for each character:

Alucard -- There's not really a consistent artist or album with his playlist. It's mostly just a collection of really aggressive fight songs I've found along the way, almost all some flavor of rock. I do often listen to Pink Floyd's The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon when writing some of his more moody/brooding scenes. 

Seras -- Phoebe Bridgers, Ingrid Michaelson, Poppy (does this list make sense? No. But somewhere in my brain, it does make sense. It's like an everygirl hopeful folk vibe with a good bit of edge to it, not too sweet but not too tough, either).

Ales -- Bo Burnham's INSIDE album (both the original and outtakes, this album was a YUGE inspiration for his character), MGMT, Foster the People, Hozier, The Weeknd

Kit -- A shitload of Lana Del Rey, like seriously so much LDR. Also Marina & The Diamonds.

Lily -- there's a lot of early career Billie Eilish and Lorde on there. Also some fight songs here, but of the pop/hip hop variety.

48. Who is your favorite character to write for? Has this changed since you've started writing for that fandom?

This is tough because there's characters I find the most easy and entertaining to write for, and characters I find so damn interesting that I could fixate on writing their parts for hours and hours, but they ARE a major pain in the ass to write. 

In terms of easy and entertaining, probably Sophie. She's just a side character with a lot of personality, so mostly I can stick to having her comment on the whack shit going on and have fun with it. In a way, she's just a mouthpiece for me to riff on all the crazy shit happening in the story lol.

In terms of fascination, I think it's Ales, with Alucard as a close second. IMHO Alucard is crazy hard to write well, there's a lot going on there, he's very inconsistent in the canon, and truly it's not easy to put yourself in the shoes of a 600-something year old vampire who's definitely seen some shit. Revelations in particular is challenging because I gave him an alternate history, so it's a super delicate balance of keeping him in character while accounting for some of the obvious differences that would arise from having a non-canon backstory.

Anyone who knows me knows I have Stage 5 brainrot for Ales, but JESUS he is hard to write, in part because he is so utterly unlike me. He is a dark empath with noble intentions but highly questionable methods. He's everyone's friend but nobody really knows him. His relationship with the truth is fractured at best, his ethics and moral compass only seem to make sense to him, and he obfuscates or exposes his real intentions/opinions/feelings selectively to manipulate others and achieve his goals. 

He's so interesting. But hard. But interesting. AAAA I can't believe I did this to myself.

Aaaa thank you for asking~ Camellia: I was REALLY aggressive when I was younger. I'm a lot calmer and quieter now. I can get rowdy when I'm excited or with friends but people always tell me I don't talk very much and I'm often complimented for being so chill lol. So I guess I'm very different. Nutmeg: My room is Hobbit themed! I just wanna be Bilbo in live in Bag End so I have a lot of quilts, afghans, and antiques. Papyrus: Fight for Life by El Perro del Mar. This is embarrassing but this is my fave song rn to maladaptive daydream about Red Dead 😂 All the juicy scenes I've come up with to this song. I love how listening to this song makes you think of a rainstorm or being underwater. Very moody but beautiful.

So, we don’t get enough Schmidt and I would love you to elaborate on pregnant Schmidt and the idea of him being a mom. like, aaaa!

Okay okay so sorry this took like forever for me to get to, but pregnant Schmidt omg, just thinking about it makes me 😍

When he first finds out, he just freaks, genuinely freaks out because the spaceship isn't designed to keep a child on board, it isn't safe; they don't have food, supplies for a baby. He doesn't think he can go through with this, for he can't get back down to earth. They can't until the mission is complete. So, he is very moody and grumpy for a while. Even Volkov avoids him instead of trying to annoy him like usual, as he knows now isn't the time.

You finally are able to sit him down, though, and talk some sense into him. That it is your child as well and though you are just as worried, you know that he will be the best mum and that you two can make things work. Together you two can do this and it calms him down.

Slowly he starts preparing, trying to make the ship 'baby' proof. Sometimes he feels a bit ridiculous, he was there to be a scientist not do this, but everyone on the crew starts to help him out, bringing him things they have made for the baby, clothes and toys, thinking up ways to make the ship safer. Even Earth sends supplies and in the end, Ernst feels very loved and grateful for everything, finally feeling for once he was accepted in a happy if odd family.

Giving birth was a struggle. There is only one doctor on board who had to work with what he got and Ernst was swearing blindly from the pain. The labour lasted a while, though you stayed by his side and held his hand through it. He yelled that he wasn't going to let you anywhere near him again till he was back on Earth. Eventually, though, he gives birth to a beautiful baby boy who he names 'Cosmo'

Ernst had maternity break technically, though as he lived at his work, it was hard for him to stay away even with the baby constantly needing his attention. The first month he stayed in his room looking after Cosmo. Everyone was allowed to visit and they were all over the moon to see him, but Ernst wanted to keep him safe in his room for a while as he learnt to look after him. But slowly he started to take him out and around the ship. Ernst could be a very paranoid mum, anxious about Cosmo getting hurt by something and then not having the right help for him, but you tried to assure him Cosmo would be okay. You occasionally tried to look after Cosmo and let Ernst have a break, but he ended up worrying too much on his break and needed his baby back again, and you didn't mind. You loved seeing Ernst dote on your child, seeing how he would smile as he looked down at Cosmo, the baby talk he gave him, how attentive he was. He was glowing as a mother.

Ernst couldn't stay away from his work too long though, so he was able to make one of those baby chest straps and he would carry Cosmo around in it while he worked on the maths and machines in the ship. The crew loved having Cosmo in the main pit, even if the crying sometimes got a bit too much. They never complained.

As Cosmo grew older, he became a very curious child and you would often see him running around the ship, with Ernst running after him, trying to get him to slow down and have some fruit. You and Ernst tried your best to teach Cosmo about Earth and what it was like. As you were both aware with him growing up on the ship, he was missing out a lot. The rest of the crew were all more than willing to teach Cosmo as well about Earth and their duties on board the ship. They loved taking him for the afternoon while Ernst worked on something to show Cosmo their work and playfully try to convince him their work was better than his mother's, though Ernst would frown when he found out. Ernst was constantly trying to teach Cosmo physics, spending his evenings sitting down with Cosmo and teaching him, but Cosmo never quite got the grasp of it. Ernst didn't mind though, for he adored his son and all he wanted was the best for him. You and Ernst had already made a plan to take Cosmo around the Earth when you get back, so he could explore the planet fully before settling down and having a normal life.

All until the mission went wrong.

Thought: since sabertooth has the heightened senses he Def loves you smelling like him. Flat out he WILL scent mark you and will shove one of his shirts or hoodies/jackets at you for you to wear.

If he's gone for a while and he comes back to see you in one of his hoodies? Man is melting inside and will let out a happy little huff because you smell like him still.

Also if you tell him he smells good? He gets a bit flustered.

For sure he'll try to give you his things to where, but also... I feel like I could see him just like, waiting until you're not around, and then just aggressively rubbing his face into some of your favorite clothes to get the scent into them 😭😭

High key, he knows that's pretty weird tbh which is why he prefers to just push his clothes onto you. But don't think for a second that he won't do it. It's sabretooth after all, so he doesn't really give af lol. He wants to make sure you like him of course, but beyond that he's not too concerned on whether or not he's "acting weird".

Of course, trying to persuade (in as much as a guy like Victor knows how to use pretty words lmao) you to wear his things, is nothing compared to you actually doing it. And all on your own too! That gets him feeling pretty special.

Also, kind of feel like he gets jealous or moody if you come home smelling like other guys 😅😂 It's a natural part of life, other men do exist outside that door after all, but still... He kind of hates that other people get to be around you and he can't.
