Yuki Tsunoda, in his rookie season of F1, just can’t stop thinking about pudding. It starts with a little itch at the back of his mind that turns into a full body ache.

He also can't stop thinking about his older teammate, Pierre Gasly. He doesn't want to think about why that is. And it doesn't help that Pierre has resorted to calling Yuki by the pet name- Pudding.

has it been nearly 9 months since you sent this in? yes. are we counting? absolutely not!

anyway, yukierre + 13: drunk confessions: "warm"

The streetlights keep melting. 

They're not too bright, not too dark, just. Liquid. Flowing in and out along the lines of the cobblestone sidewalks, curving along the edges of the road. And the light is warm. Really warm. Just as warm as Yuki feels, dipping in and out of puddles of golden. 

He floats along the streets lined with pubs. The summer air in Stavelot is never this warm, and it reminds him of the enveloping feeling of sinking into an onsen. Of course, the internal warmth of the whiskey he downed earlier couldn't hurt either. It's not every week he can extract points from the car, and in that case, he thinks, the whiskey is deserved.

And then there's the warmth beside him: Pierre, sturdy, dependable, and hauling his ass back to the hotel. He keeps up a steady banter, chattering on about the race, the upcoming week, how a tipsy Lando nearly punched George in the face trying to reach Oscar, and how Albon's off-key serenade of Smooth Operator to "welcome Carlos to the team" nearly made him want to pull his ears off. Yuki doesn't register much, but the rumbly tenor of his voice is pleasant background noise where he's pressed under Pierre's arm, tucked against his chest. He wants to stay there. For a long, long time.

They finally make it to Yuki’s hotel, and Pierre forcibly dislodges him from under his arm. Yuki tries his damnedest to cling on, but eventually gives up, pouting upwards as Pierre holds him by the shoulders.

"You will be okay, yes? Go to sleep soon." His eyes, a piercing blue even in the dim light of the streetlights, tilt down to look into Yuki’s directly. It’s a damn shame, he thinks. He used to see that shade every day. And now, only when they get a moment to catch up on race weeks. Unfair. 

“I’on wanna sleep,” Yuki replies, tipping forward till his forehead goes smack into the crook of Pierre’s neck. He can feel the warm rumble of Pierre’s laugh, throaty and deep. His hands stay firm on Yuki’s shoulders, but he makes no movement to push him off just yet. 

“You will need to, Yuki,” he chuckles. “Your team will get you early tomorrow morning and then preparing for the next race will not be fun with a hangover.”

“Hmm,” he thinks about it. “No.”

“Why not?”

“Mmm.” He nuzzles in closer. “Warm. Wanna stay here.” 

He feels Pierre’s tighten, almost imperceptibly, around him. “I know, the next race is much colder.”

“No.” Yuki is nearly asleep, but Pierre’s right there and he’s much more comfortable than the hotel bed, honestly. “Wanna stay here.”

“Here, in Stavelot?”

“You’re so dense.” Yuki emits a soft grumble, shaking his head. “Right here.”

His warm breath tickles against Pierre’s neck, and he smiles in response, a quiet grin tucked into the top of Yuki’s hair. 

“Yeah, me too.”

What is summer yukierre??? 👀

i basically wanted them to fall in love in rural france over the summer. lol. sort of loosely inspired by the chen chen poem. there is no plot to this fic yet, only vibes.

It’s early, the sun barely above the horizon.

Are you awake, Pierre texts, and a light goes on upstairs.

Yuki answers the door with sleepy eyes, hair mashed up on one side. “Shhh,” he says. Pierre toes off his shoes carefully at the door, like he’s learned to, and follows Yuki up the stairs.

Yuki stumbles blearily back into his messy sheets, watches Pierre with his eyes half-closed as he strips and folds his jacket.

The sheets are warm and soft when he gets in. It smells like Yuki, and Yuki crowds against him straight away.

“Good night,” Yuki mumbles, curled up against Pierre’s chest, and finally, Pierre falls into a deep and dreamless sleep.

Pierre wakes up a few hours later, when it’s morning proper, and they run summer into the ground like that.

George chokes on his sandwich. “I need to do what now.”
