World's Sexiest Accent Revealed: It’s European (And The French Won’t Be Happy)! Merde alors! French Has Been Dethroned As The World’s Sexiest Accent.
— By David Mouriquand | Thursday February 8, 2024
Tumblr media
What is the accent you’re most attracted to?
A gorgeous Irish lilt?
A rakish Spanish inflexion?
The King’s English, perhaps?
Well, according to language learning platform Babbel, it’s official: French is no longer the world's sexiest accent.
That bold statement will come as a disappointment to many, especially since Babbel previously polled more than 15,000 people in 2017, a group who named French the “sexiest accent”.
So, who has dethroned la belle langue française?
Well, 6,000 people from the UK, France, Spain, Italy and Germany, as well as the US, were asked to rate which languages are perceived as “most sexy,” “most romantic” and “most passionate.”
The findings stated that Italian was perceived by most to be “most sexy” and the “most romantic” by the highest number of people involved in the study.
“There are certain characteristics of Italian that may contribute to its appeal,” Babbel language teacher Noël Wolf explained to UK newspaper Daily Mail.
“The rise and fall of pitch in spoken Italian can create a musical quality, which some people find alluring and attractive," said Wolf. "Certain phonetic features, such as the rolling of ‘r’ sounds, can be distinctive in Italian, which to many is regarded as charming or attractive.”
British English was found to be the “most polite”, while German won the top spot for “most direct” language.
Clearly no expectations were subverted there.
The survey also looked at attitudes towards partners speaking different languages.
According to the survey, more than 70% of Brits polled reported that if their romantic partner had a different native language to themselves, learning the language would help foster a stronger emotional connection between them.
In 2017, linguist Patti Adank, a professor of speech perception and production at University College London noted that “English speakers are drawn to the melody of a language such as French or Italian.”
Other linguists and psychologists have frequently referred to social and cultural associations with accents being a pull factor in these kind of surveys. But, however you want to rationalise it, the results are in and France are going to have to deal with it.
Amor vecchio non fa ruggine, bella Italia. No grudges here.
You win this round.

omg yall. No I don't mean it in a xenophobic way, I'm literally 25 years old and half Italian (and Russian) half Ghanaian, I live in NYC for 2 years now, my best friend lives in London. What I said has absolutely nothing to do with racism or xenophobia (wtf!!) but with the education and job requirements. In London they don't care if the psychologist doesn't speak English to the kids in the English school (yes I've seen this happening bc my actual best friend lives there 1 and a half year). Both of the cities have around 50% international citizens and that's why I like both but NYC way more bc you have to be qualified to survive this place. Unlike London. I have friends with no bachelors working there that's what I meant. And even tho people voted for brexit for kinda racist reasons, and even tho they decided to only accept high qualified immigrants from 2020 that's not the case. But it is the case for nyc. And yea the fact that a kid can speak to a school psychologist in nyc that understands it and can hold a conversation with it is dope. And something that ain't as common as you think in kindergarten schools in London 🦵🏽🦵🏽🦵🏽✍🏽✍🏽✍🏽
I............
Your defense for not being xenophobic or racist was actually xenophobic and racist sis!
Tumblr media
I hate to break it to you, but as someone who spent a good portion of her youth in NYC, (as in, well over 2 years), and still has family there, there are a lot of issues there too! So many issues actually, but now isn’t the time.

stefania spampinato x sottovoce interview (part two)
I – We are here with the actress of The world’s most beautiful day. Who is your inspiration? An Italian actress or a foreign one?
S – Italian actresses... I love Monica Vitta, Anna Magnani. They bring so many emotions to me. A natural beauty. Recent foreign actresses, I really like Emma Stone and then obviously Meryl Streep.
I – And actors?
S – Leonardo Di Caprio, I think he is one of the best of our generation. Also Marlon Brando.
I – Let’s see some photos!
S – Colorful. I had fun, because when I was a kid I hated that they took photos of me. So I always cried. Here I had just stopped crying and I didn’t want to take the photo. It makes me laugh that I choose to do something where I need to be in front of cameras.
I – Another one...
S – This is mamma Lorenza, when she came to LA. We made an amazing trip, New York, LA, Las Vegas. She was there for 3 weeks.
I – What do you think about death? I mean, you had to deal with your mother’s death. Are you scared of death?
S – Yes...
I – Do you think about it?
S – Yes, I think about it and I hope that’s just the body that leaves. I hope someway the soul will stay there.
I – Another photo.
S – This is my first job in London. My first show as a dancer. London was an amazing experience. This is Jeff. I have a dog and her name is Jeff. This was my first job in India. He is a Bollywood actor whose name is Hrithik Roshan, and he is famous because he has 3 thumbs and it’s considered as a super special thing, a lucky thing.
I – Another one.
S – This is from when I did the audition to when the news came out, 2 weeks had passed and I didn’t talk to anyone, because I was scared to spoil it but I didn’t want to lie to my family and friends, so I didn’t talk to anyone until it was official.
S – This was from another trip in India. I have been in India 6 times. I really love that country.
S – This is a thing I do on Instagram and it’s called “100 ways to save the planet” and I talk about changing from plastic toothbrush to bamboo toothbrush.
S – This is another trip in Thailand, I took the rock climbing license and while I was climbing I took a photo.
S – This is one of the backstage photos of Alessandro Siani’s movie, with the kids Leone Riva e Sara Ciocca. He is 4yrs old. 3 unforgettable months.
I – What is your relationship with photos?
S – Not really good, I don’t really like them. I didn’t want to take them when I was a kid.
I – Why?
S – There is this friend who says that every photo steals from you soul. If you take lots of photos of yourself it’s not good. You see yourself always differently.
I – So you would never do a calendar?
S – Never say never. But it’s not my priority. I won’t say never because everytime I say never, I always end up making that choice.
I – So “never, always” are adverbs that you don’t use?
S – I don’t use day, I say maybe.
I – The song Stefania choose and why?
S – “La donna riccia “ di Domenico Modugno.
I – Why this one?
S – Because I knew I would cry, so I said let’s pick something joyful.
I – Do you cry a lot?
S – Mamma mia, yes. A lot.
I -  When you listen to a song, your mind, your heart where do they go?
S – For me, music is therapeutic. I listen to music when I have heavy days, or I have to release stress I sing out loud, or I dance. When I’m alone, I dance with a glass of wine. When I dance at home I don’t care about anyone, I don’t have to be good at it. Music it’s always there
I –  (Phone rings, the pshycologist) Let’s hear about a dream of Stefania.
S – It hasn’t been happening for a year, but a recurring dream I had some years ago was the one where I was followed by some people, with bad intentions and when they reached me and I had a gun but I couldn’t shoot.
P – It’s a typical dream of women. Maybe because women are more afraid of being attacked than men, but also because women are not aware of some aggressive components of their person. Being chased has two psychic components: the part that runs away and the one that chases. What chases us is the thing that scare us, so they are some aspects that we don’t accept. They are some aspect of personality that we deny. And you can’t shoot them because these things don’t’ have to be killed, but we have to “meet” them and control them. (sorry it was hard to translate)
I – Goodnight (to the psychologist). Stefania, do you accept yourself? Do you like everything about you?
S – No, absolutely not.
I – Do you question yourself?
S – Yes, everyday. As the doctor was saying, we have to face our “shadows” and try to make them part of ourselves, and accept them instead of rejecting them. I’d like to be more in touch with my femininity, my sensuality, but instead I hide it a lot.
I – What do you mean with sensuality?
S – I was born in a conservative city, so sensuality wasn’t something you could have showed openly. Dancing was a way to express that part of myself. So it was a journey to accept that there was that part of me. And I’m very protective of that part, I don’t let everyone see it.
I – Thank you for coming to Sottovoce. We always end the show like this. You make a question and give yourself an answer.
S – The famous one. A thing I miss doing, it’s like when we are kids, we go to our mom and she gave us the answer. I’d like to see me as a kid who ask to the adult me “Are we gonna make it?” and I would like to answer with confidence: “Yes, we’re gonna make it because we have a fire inside us”.
I – What do you mean by fire?
S – The Etna’s fire. So strength,  toughness, melancholy resiliency...
I – Thank you!

special thanks to paola, the italian queen, for translating it. :)

PHYLLIS Logan is only minutes back from New York where the actress has been promoting the new Downton Abbey movie. The national station PBS has been beaming out interviews across the nation, given the series about toffs and toff-servers has been such an success in the classless land of the free.
Logan’s voice is soft and a little subdued. She speaks in thumbnails, not given to flourishes at all. I factor in that the expansive, often dramatic language of hyperbole was spoken by very few in Renfrewshire in the 1950s and 1960s (yet actors tend to be more effusive). And I factor in jetlag of course.
But then again, perhaps there’s a little more of her laconic head housekeeper character Mrs Hughes in Phyllis Logan than we’d suspected? “Well, I can be a bit snippy, a bit terse,” she offers, smiling. “But only to my nearest and dearest.” Would Kevin (actor husband Kevin McNally) agree with that? “Probably,” she says, dryly.
Logan’s thoughts on the Mrs Hughes comparison continues: “She was written down in the script, of course, but I like to think I gave her the legs to run. But when you play a character there are always elements of you in that person. You can’t completely step away from yourself.”
Downton is a phenomenal television success story. The series, which began eight years ago featuring the Crawley family and their legion of servants, began with the Titanic going down, and has covered plague, rape, murder, interwoven with romance, often crossing the class barriers.
Logan’s character was voted No 1 Ever in a 2014 Radio Times poll; no mean feat given the subdued nature of Mrs H, a woman to whom flashes of excitement are to be discouraged as much as relations with those upstairs.
Yet, the original script described Elsie Hughes as a Yorkshire woman. Logan reveals it was only when the casting directors heard the Scot’s natural voice that they asked her to read in her own accent. “I was happy when she was cast as a Scot. She had that Scottish bluntness and I felt right because I have known women like her.”
During the six series of Downton, Mrs Hughes negotiated Branson the chauffeur’s assassination attempt, Carson’s Spanish flu and helped Ethel with her illegitimate Upstairs son, Charlie. The psychologist with an apron also sorted out Thomas’s homosexuality. And although she fell for Mr Carson, (or at least lurched slightly in his direction) it took a bit of persuasion before she agreed to a “full” marriage, where he would make occasional visits downstairs.
“We all know those types,” grins Logan. “But what’s nice about her is she does have a sense of humour. And she’s quite forward thinking. She’s a republican, and has a socialist bent to her for sure.”
Does Logan have left-wing sympathies, considering her late father, an engineer, was a trade unionist? She deflects by referring to Mrs Hughes. “She was of a different type. She knew people were thrown into a caste system but had to make the best of it.”
Yes, but what about you, Phyllis? Did you feel working class containment in Johnstone, where most people’s horizons didn't stretch beyond Rootes car plant or the local carpet factory (where John Byrne took inspiration for The Slab Boys – Logan appeared in the sequel, Cuttin’ A Rug)?
“You just accepted the way things were,” she says, sounding ever so Mrs Hughes. “I never thought I’d break out and become posh. But I did think it would be nice to spread my wings a little.”
Just a little? She smiles and adds: “But I didn’t audition for some of the big London drama schools. I thought that was a step too far for me at the time so I went to Glasgow.”
Not a risk taker. Not a wild child. But very, very good at what she does. Despite her careers teacher declaring the teenager was wasting her time with acting, Logan picked up the James Bridie Gold Medal at the RSAMD. On leaving she landed work at Dundee Rep and worked continuously throughout the 1970s and 1980s with the likes of Borderline Theatre. Real talent was revealed. Yet few would have expected her to land the role of Britain’s most popular posh totty in dodgy antiques dealer series Lovejoy.
Aged 30 in 1986, Logan walked into an audition room as Lady Felsham. Logan’s Lady had a cut-glass accent, spoke authoritatively of renaissance art and invoked a world of stately homes and castles. But in reality, Logan’s only castle connection was her housing scheme, Johnstone Castle, where the recognised art on living room walls was a classic Sara Moon picture. This new cut-glass accent had somehow emerged from a world where ginger bottles were a form of currency.
Logan’s clever deception (aided by being forced to speak RP at drama college) revealed that you don’t have to be a loud extrovert to be emboldened enough to convince you are actually blue blooded: you just need to be talented. “I can’t believe looking back now that 20 million were watching us on Sunday nights. The show was so huge.”
Many other drama successes followed such as Mike Leigh’s Secrets and Lies. But did she feel Downton would be the massive success it became? “I read the scripts and loved them. And when I heard Maggie Smith and Hugh (Bonneville) and Penelope (Wilton) were on board it looked good. Then we signed an option for three series but there was always the chance it could have gone down the pan after one.” Her voice lifts. “And then six came along.”
Did this kill the fear, the insecurity that comes with being an actor waiting to be hired? She answers indirectly. “It used to be that you always knew that when one job was finishing another would be on its way. But that seems to be far less the case these days. That’s why it was great having that guarantee of six months' work each year. And each time it was like going back to school after the summer holidays and seeing your friends.”
Logan seems the worrying type, so why volunteer for a life of insecurity? “And rejection,” she adds in soft voice. “And I’ve had a certain amount of that.” She thinks for a second and makes a dramatic statement that seems out of character. “You know, I wanted this part in Downton so badly I think I might have given up [acting] had I not got it. I don’t often feel that. Usually I have a what’s-for-you-will-not-go-by-you outlook.”
She laughs and allows herself a little flightiness: “Somehow I felt, ‘This is mine! It’s meant to be.'" She then contains herself and becomes more Mrs Hughes. “No, I felt I’d like to give it a bash.”
Logan certainly didn’t get into acting for the glory. She doesn’t seem to be consumed by ambition or the fripperies of acting success. She had genuinely forgotten she’d won a Bridie Gold Medal, and mention of her Bafta for Another Time, Another Place, (the 1983 Scotswoman falls for Italian POW tragic romance) doesn’t swell her head in the slightest. What she does want, however, is to act. All the time. In all the best roles.
“I just wanted to be the best I could. To find the truth in every role. You don’t think about awards. Acting has been the only thing that remotely interested me since I played Mary in the Nativity play at primary school. Then at Johnstone High I’d join every club that had anything to do with acting and take trips to the Citizens'. I’d be in any play going, starting in the chorus and working my way up to playing Polly in the Boyfriend.”
But, of course, there have been set backs. “My dad [David] didn’t live to see me graduate, [he died, aged 59] and that was a real shame but my mum would come and see all my shows.”
Logan’s voice becomes more upbeat as she tells of how her mum and aunt landed roles in one of her films, when the actress appeared in a drama set in Spain, The Legendary Life of Ernest Hemingway (1989). “My mum Betty and my auntie Margaret came on set to have a look around, and they were asked if they wanted to be extras. They loved the idea of this, and were dressed up as posh ladies with big frocks and they had all the make-up done.
“But it was a night shoot, and the second night as they should have been getting picked up they declared, ‘Oh, pet, we don’t think we’ll bother tonight.’ I thought ‘Have you never heard of continuity? Do you know what this means? I had to tell the director they’d both eaten something dodgy.”
Betty and Margaret clearly weren’t captivated by the acting world. Logan herself once claimed she wasn’t captivated by actors. She said she wouldn’t have one in the house, that they were vain people. But then she met McNally while filming the 1993 miniseries Love and Reason and they fell in love and married.
“What I meant was I’d never get together with one,” she backtracks, grinning. “But in a way it makes real sense. We know the business. And we can help each other. Recently, Kevin was doing three episodes of the missing Dad’s Army scripts (playing Captain Mainwaring) and I read lines with him every night. It meant I got to play every other character in the cast.” McNally must have found it a delight, given his wife’s talent. (She slips into a remarkable Clive Dunn/Corporal Jones voice. “Don’t panic, don’t panic Mr Mannering.”
But if all that sounds a little perfunctory, Logan, who lives in west London, once declared: “There’s an excitement in discovering that you can still fall in love when you’re an ancient old trout.”
There’s little doubt the relationship really works. But the Mrs Hughes cross voice emerges when I ask if Pirates of the Caribbean star McNally, who has appeared in Downton in the past, playing Horace Bryant, has a role this time around? “No, he does not,” she says emphatically, (subtext: he’s had his shot and should be thankful, a sentiment which sits neatly against her husband’s quote of the time: “Phyllis said it was like take-your-husband-to-work day.”
Was she a bit territorial? “Yes,” she smiles. “I was thinking: ‘You don’t get me a part as Johnny Depp’s mother and take me to the Caribbean. So why are you here?’”
What of the Downton film, set in 1927, two years after the end of the series? It transpires tiaras and silver will be polished until they sparkle. “We get a visit from the King and Queen (George V and Queen Mary) and there’s a bit of friction between the Downton team and the Royal household staff. Mr Carson (now on gardening duty) is begged by Lady Mary to help out. The cavalry ride into town!”
And, of course, there will be lashings of scandal, romance and intrigue “that will leave the future of Downton hanging in the balance,” says the official movie site.
But what of the future for Phyllis Logan? Despite running up continuous film and TV series, success, from Taggarts to Rab C Nesbitt, from the more recent The Good Karma Hospital to Girlfriends – and attracting great crits for her West End role earlier this year as Patricia Highsmith in Switzerland – she certainly has Elsie Hughes’ worry gene.
Logan’s run, she feels, could end at any minute.
“It’s a snakes and ladders life,” she says in Mrs Hughes' tones. “Your career can be going really well and suddenly the snake appears. But I guess I’ve been lucky because I persevered.”
Nonsense, Phyllis. Talent kicked in. You don’t get Bridies and Baftas and almost continuous work for perseverance. “It’s lovely of you to say so, but I’m not sure that’s really the case.”
Downton Abbey is out on September 13

A moderare la serata Lorenzo Gragnani, Presidente di Italian Medical Society of Great Britain, e Stefano Di Rico, Youth Mental Health Campaigner e YoungMinds Activist. ... Continua a leggere su

Football People - Selwyn Sackey
Tumblr media
Selwyn Sackey
Football is a game of emotions. It has its high and lows. There will always be a dip but the most important thing is how you rise up and exceed expectations. In football, there have been a number of great nations in the game that have taken the fall. Germany’s exit in the 2000 Euros brought about the famous ‘Reboot’ by the German Football Association and the German Government.
They invested in community youth football making sure every community has football pitches for kids to come and train by experienced and trained coaches. The talents spotted are sent to the national team academy. All Bundesliga clubs are required to have academies. This initiative was rewarded 14 years later at the Maracana stadium, in Rio de Janeiro.
2014 World Cup was the crowning moment for German football but the twilight for Ghana football. 21st June 2014 Estadio Castelao, Fortaleza. Group G game between Ghana and Germany ended 2-2. The game was spoken about as the best game in the tournament. The happenings during the tournament and the aftermath began the wreck of the great ship, Ghana Football Association.
Out of that storm, produces the Dzamefe Commission white paper which has never seen daylight. It is obviously ignored and the wisdom in it will clearly be untapped just like other commission reports.
2019, already tops interesting years for this beautiful tropical country. Football as the passion of the nation has always been used by the government as a tool to calm the chaos. Proper investment in the preparation of Black Stars to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations. The coach of the national team was quoted saying this is his best camp ever in his national team career. Good intensions by the Father of the nation, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to put in his best to make the team win the 2019 AFCON after 37 years.
This was not only for the team to win the trophy and get the four million dollar price. It was for the football loving people of Ghana. The pride of being African Champions in the midst of our lowest point in football. This was also going to be important for the grand Year of return party in Ghana this December. Unfortunately, football doesn’t reward knee jerk reactions. Football demands years of planning, investments, and developmental patience.
‘Number 12’ did to Ghana Football what the 9/11 plane did to the World Trade Center. Now we must rebuild; statutes and structures. That is the mandate of the Normalization Committee. After this, they hand over to the “Football People”. Who are the “Football People”? A football person is someone who owns a football club or is involved in football administration. But do we think it is right for the “Football People” to manage the day to day affairs of the Football Association considering conflicts of interest? Which accompanied with bribery and corruption lead to the crash of Ghana Football.
The question then becomes, who should manage Ghana Football? If you look at the history of Ghana football, it has always been a group of passionate men who take time out of their daily businesses to invest their time and money in their favourite clubs. These men have done this for years and to say you will not let them have a say anymore in Ghana Football will be difficult. Where there hasn’t been any ruling saying members of the old association have been suspended from football, they have every right to take over after the normalization.
I still believe there are honest football experts in the old regime. They have great ideas and are ready to solve the problems we faced in the past. They also understand the traditions and dynamics of the local game which no novice will be able to handle. You will have to get your hands dirty sometimes. The Normalization committee members will tell you it’s been a struggle.
The bigger struggle now is how can we trust the people to take over Ghana football to do it right? People have declared their interest to lead the football family. The politics has begun and you don’t expect it to be clean. Football people are going against each other when we need them to be together. Going forward we need a unifier, someone to calm the environment and lead the family with honesty and the right modern ideas. The league should be run autonomously rather than the Football Association like we previously did. The Association has more to do with grassroots development and management of the game.
Football is now a multi-billion global industry managed by people with football degrees and masters in various departments of the sport. Football Administration and Governance, Football Law and Intermediary, Football Business and Finance, Football Business Marketing and Sponsorship, Football Media and Broadcasting, Football Journalism, Football Stadium Events and Hospitality, Football Management and Coaching, Football Scouting and Talent Identification, Football Scientist and Psychologist. The game is being studied in universities all over the world.
Organised by the International Centre for Sport Studies (CIES) in partnership with three universities, De Montfort University in Leicester (England), SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan (Italy) and the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland), the FIFA Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport was created to promote management education within the sports world. It has grown to become a top graduate programme developing all-round managers who can cope with the increasingly complex world of sport.
The International Football Business Institute in Brussels with most of its alumni working in UEFA and major European clubs. The University College of Football Business in England with its campuses at the Wembley Stadium in London and Etihad Stadium in Manchester. UCFB also partners Real Madrid Graduate School; Universidad Europea at the Santiago Bernabeu. Most Universities in England and Europe have football courses in their curriculum. We also have the Cruyff Institute in Barcelona and Amsterdam teaching the values of Johan Cruyff and the philosophy of F.C Barcelona and Ajax. Italy known as the hub of football tacticians have their sanctuary at the Coverciano. The School that produced Antonio Conte, Carlo Ancelotti, Massimiliano Allegri, Maurizio Sarri and Claudio Ranieri. The school also houses all Italian national teams from Under 15 upwards. Other countries like India, China and USA have taken up this initiative.
Ghana is a football nation; our history defines that from the days of Ohene Djan. He fought for Africa from battling for one slot in the world cup with Asia and Oceania to Africa getting one slot in the 1970 world cup. Today, Africa has five slots in the World Cup. Top coaches like C.K. Gyamfi, Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, Ben Kuofie, Lepowura Alhaji M.N.D Jawula, Sam Arday, Fred Osam- Duodu and Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie are the ones that built the Ghana Football we had. We need to tap into their knowledge and also with modern Football Professors to create a football curriculum to be introduced in our universities and then build a football university and an academy.
Not everyone wants to do the sciences, law and engineering. Passionate football students should also be flown abroad to study football courses and gain experience in the international industry There are passionate football fanatics who would love to see their professional lives in the sport. This will create jobs and contribute massively to the GDP of the country.
We talk about the decline of our ex-footballers after they retire. This is the best solution to give them a life after their playing careers. We have searched for solutions on how to reward our players without monetary incentives. Let’s give our players scholarships to study football courses in universities. Through this they gain their coaching licenses, talent id certificates, intermediary certificates and degree and masters certificates. This way we get our ex-footballers and individuals who are passionate about the game to run the clubs, the association and develop football in Ghana.
This creates an ecosystem where all the football brains together are working to develop the game and keep Ghana at the top forever. These passionate and hardworking individuals will be the Football People.

Fool for you
Pairing: Mob!Harrison Osterfield x Reader
Warning: Mention of death, angst, mob stuff, swear words
Summary: Y/N Y/L/N is Harrison Osterfields and Tom Hollands best friend since their childhood. She is just a normal university student who is friends with the heads of the most dangerous mob in England. But what happens when she taken by a rival of her best friends.
Word count: 3942
A/N: This is from @gab-spidey 's 2k writing celebration with the prompt: “ It's national ´Kiss Your Favorite Person´ day! Pucker Up, buttercup. You're in for the ride of a lifetime.”
Tumblr media
"You are in for a treat. Today is a very special day.“ beamed the voice on the other side of the line as Y/N answered her phone. "What special day is it now, Haz?“ She asked, clearly a little bit annoyed with the boy on the other line of the phone.
You were just finished with your university classes for the day and were now on your way to your apartment before leaving for work. And these special days were nothing new to you. Being friends with Haz for over decades of time, you knew how much that boy loved making some stupid day extra special.
Haz was someone special. No other mobster would make a privat video just to show how to make pancakes on pancake day and show up, not even a few hours later, with pancakes at their best friends front door.
Or National Dress Your Pet Up day, where he actually got costums for Tessa and Monty and dressed them up. National Popcorn Day, where Haz forced Tom and Y/N to eat Popcorn all day or National Hug Day. One of the many examples where Haz was being extra special.
But her favorite memory nevertheless. That day would always have a special place in her heart. Haz would not let go of her all day, hugging and cuddling her. Furthermore it was the young girls favorite memory because it was also the day she realized how much she had been falling for her best friend and how she would never be able to let go of him. Her heart just decided how comfortable it was with the young mobster and from this day on it was a done deal. The heart wants what it wants, right?
A smile appeared on her face. Just the thought of him. His smell, his facial features, the little crinkles when he smiled, his beautiful bright blue eyes and blond kind of curley hair. The way he would hug and hold her. The late night conversations between the two or the thought of all the tender memories shared between them, their families and their other best friend, Tom. He was the only person in the world that knew about your little secret. There were countless times where he would want to force you to finally tell Harrison. But you couldn't do it. Your friendship was so much more important that this whole hopeless love thing. Better have him as a friend than not have him in your life at all.
"Nah, not gonna tell until you arrive. It is a surprise, love.“, Y/N could hear him smirking on the other line. "Haz, I swear if this is another one of you stupid ideas…“, she wanted to start but was promptly interupted. "No complaining, today is special. Adam is going to pick you up from work at six o'clock sharp.“ She was just about to respond but he stopped her, "Tom needs me. Bye, darling.“ And with that he ended the phone call.
If the Y/H/C woman wouldn't know better she would never guessed that this boy was the right hand man of the most dangerous man in London. But than again if the public would knew Tom like she did they would never guessed that he was that said mobster. Yes, the Tom Holland.
The most dangerous, richest and possible most intimidating man in England. The thing with Tom, Haz and you were that you guys were childhood friends. They were not intimidating to you. The two divs were your best friends in the world. The ones who went through thick and thin with you. The ones who shared their whole lives with you. Well, most of their lives. You were not part of the mob business and you preferred it that way. It was scary to you.
Much to your own parents delight. Harrisons and your mom were best friends ever since university and even through Haz mother fell in love and married a mobster later on, did it not change anything between their friendship or the one you and Haz had ever since you both were born. It also did not change when little Tom Holland came into your life. Harrisons father was the right hand man for Toms father. It was just natural for you three to become best friends.
You spend your whole life with the two divs. Through kindergarden, pre-school and the rest of your school career.  But while Tom and Harrison decided against going to University, and instead taking over their Dads places in the mafia, you went studying.
Just like your parents would wanted you to be. That was the difference between you friends. Your mother a psychologist and your dad a lawyer. They raised you to stay out of that business and follow your own goals in life. They loved Thomas and Harrison just like their own sons. But at the same time they were against the idea of you joining the mob.
You were always a brillant and hardworking child in their eyes and your parents wanted you to find your own way and pursue your own dreams.
That said, you were still under the watch of the Holland and Osterfield family. That was just the way it was. Once someone was involved with mobsters, let alone the Hollands, there was no way that there would not be threats against you from rival mobs.
But that didn't concern you as much. It grew to be part of your normal everyday life and you chooses to not give it as much thoughts. You did not believe that someone would be as stupid to do anything to you as long you were under the watch of the most powerful mob in England.
When you arrived at your apartment, you opened the door and let your backpack fall to the floor before making your way to the bedroom. It was a little apartment but it was all you needed, it was your own. Tom had first insisted that you should live with him, Harrison and his brothers at his mansion but you refused. The apartment was not to far from the uni campus and you were proud to be able to afford it on her own. Let alone that Tom and Harrison would always be so freaking worried that you would just taken away from them. She shook her head. Alone the thought was ridiculous.
You quickly changed into your work attire before grabbing some clothes and uni stuff you would need for the next day. Y/N knew exactly how this special days with Harrison would end. He likely would make some „Celebration“ or some stuff and it would be way too late for you to be driven back.
So you would stay at the mansion and would take a ride with Tom and Haz back into town the next morning. If you were honest this were the best days. Not because of the celebration rather the opportunity to have late night talks and even better late night cuddles with Harrison, later when you two were alone in his bedroom. For you that was all you needed. Just being with Haz and laying in his arms. His arms around your waist, holding you close to him. Your legs tangled with each other and your head on his chest, listening to his heartbeat while he slept.
God, he was so beautiful when he slept. Always a little smile on his face and so… peaceful. He would probably never be yours but as long as he would at least hold you like that at night you were okay. You knew that at least you would always be his friend and that needed to be enough. You had Harrison somehow by your side and if it could not be as your lover than at least as your best friend.
When you had packed everything together, you made your way out of the apartment and on your way to the little bistro were you worked. It was a nice work place. Owned by an older italian woman who were basically like grandmother to you. As you entered the bistro, you greeted the older woman behind the counter, “Buongiorno Arianna. How are you?“ The elderly woman smiled at you and greeted you with kisses on both of your cheeks. "Ciao, amore mio! I´m good. What about you?“
You smiled at the woman in front of you "The same as always.“ Arianna squeezed your shoulder for a moment before letting go of you and making her way to serve a customer who just had entered the bistro.
Today was a rather slow day. Only university students and some business people had taken some of the spots the bistro offered. Every once in a while came different customers to grab a coffee, sandwich or some cake and leave immediately.
Y/N spend the spare time cleaning or talking to Arianna. You liked the elderly woman a lot. When much needed advice, Arianna was your usually go to. She was just a wise person who knew what to say when needed but at the same time would not hold back.
Around five pm, Arianna had asked you if you would close the bistro on your own so that she and her husband could enjoy a date night together. The Y/H/C haired girl had of course agreed. Arianna left twenty minutes later with a hour to spare for you to clean, get the last customers out and prepare for the next day.
As the last one had left, you had locked the door and went to change in the bathroom of the bistro. You rather not wanted spend the ride to Toms mansion in your work clothes. It was a 30 minute ride to the county side and you just wanted to be comfortable.
Just as you were finished and came out of the bathroom one of Toms cars parked in front of the door. Your smile widened when you remember that it only would be half an hour until you were seeing Haz again. Your thoughts with Haz, you took your bag, locked the door of the cafe and turned around to the car. You opened the door of the car and slid into the car seat.
"Hey Adam.“, you greeted your usual driver as you closed the door. But as you turned to the drivers seat you were terrified to see that there was not Adam in the seat. Instead there was a guy who looked very smiliar to him with his dark hair and the usual uniform. That's why you didnt realize earlier, that it was not a good idea to get into the car.
Tom always used the same people. He only switched people when they turned on him and that rarely happened, they knew better. Let alone that he would have informed you if there was a switch.
Next to the man sat a really well dressed guy. His hair slid back on his head and in an expensive looking suit. Almost as expensive looking as the ones Haz and Tom wore when they went to do business. You could see how both oft he men had guns in their hands or next to them. They were definitely part of a mob but not Toms. You had never see him before. "Where's Adam?“, your voice shaken.
You felt your throat close up, your body tingling with a rush of anxiety. The man in the passenger seat turned around, a sinister smile on his face. His eye colour looked almost black. His smile wider than before and even wider when he spoke "Sweetheart, I'm afraid that Adam will not show up. We will take you on a little round.“, he and the driver gave an ugly laugh.
Your hand found the handle of the car door. Ready to open, anxiety flooding you and ready to escape. Before you could even open the door or move, the man pointed a gun at your head. Your Y/E/C eyes widened with fear. "If I were you I would not move, Y/N.“ Why did he knew your name? The only thought that somehow make sense in your head. Anxiety already taking over you, restricting your mind from forming any reasonable thought.
The door next to you opened and the man with the gun took the place next to yours, his gun still in his hand as well as some ropes and some fabric. "Now Y/N, my name is Robert and you will do as I say or it will have not so nice consequences for you. Understood?“ Your head felt dizzy but you nooded. He took your arms with force and restricted them tight behind your back before taking a fabric and blindfolded her eyes, covering her tearful eyes.
The other man started the car and followed the road. "Don't cry, love. One or the other way we are going to return you to your Tom. We will see through in which condition.", Robert laughed. Fear took over you and tears escaped your eyes. The next thing you felt was a punch in your face. You cried out. "I hate crying woman. It is so obnoxious.“, Robert spit. You tried to hold more sobs back before another punch hit you directly on your left temple and knocking you into the door. "Just shut the hell up.“, were the last words you heard before another fabric was pressed onto your mouth and nose. A weird smell took over you. The last thing that came to your mind were Haz blues eyes before you passed out.
Harrison was never worried, never. But when there was no sign of you, the car or Adam at already seven pm and non of you answered your fucking phones, he nearly lost it. You were his girl, his everything and it was his and Toms duty to protect you at all cost. "Where the fuck are there? There should have been here half an hour ago?“, he could hear Tom angrily speaking to one of his man on the phone. "Than track the car find the fuck out where they went. Now.“ Harrison was walking up and down in the office. Nervous. About to call you again. This must be a joke. Tom ended the call. He looked at his best mate. "She still has not answered her phone?“ "No. I tried multiple times. Adam, as well. Something is wrong. She always answers. I'm going to kill Adam if she should even has a scratch on her.“,he ended the call after you had not picked up again.
A few minutes later Hunter, one of the tech guys, walked into the office. "We tracked one of the cameras and found the car. It seems like Robert and one of his man got hold of Adam and killed him before taking the car and capturing Miss Y/N. They headed south, near the industry park.“ He opened the computer and showed the two mobsters the footage.
Anger took over Harrison as he watched it. He saw you entering the car and it taking off with you in it. He was in disbelieve. That could not happen, especially not today were he wanted to finally tell you…
His knuckles turning white as he got angrier. He took on of the glasses on that were standing on the table as he basically threw it at Hunter. "Find where the car exactly went or today will be the last day you live.“, he spit at him. He nodded in fear and left to track the car down.
"Mate, you need to calm down.“, Tom tried to reason with his best friend. "Are you being serious? Robert has taken Y/N. You know, as well as me, that this could be her end.“, Harrison turned to Tom and glared at him. "I know and I am just as angry as you but you need to calm down and think reasonable. We will get her and she will be safe but we need to be calm otherwise we will make mistakes.“
A few hours later, you gained consciousness again. Eyes still tied and your mouth shut with tape. You were sitting on a stool and your hands were bound to it, as well as your feet. You already could feel yourself tearing up again. You were struggeling to try to loosen the ropes but no luck. Panic was starting to take over you, as you realized that this could be your end. Suddenly, the tie around your eyes were taken away and you tried to adjust your eyes to the light.
You heared the ugly laugh, of the man who had taken you, again. "Nice to join us again, sweetheart.“ Robert was seated behind a desk and was watching you. Some sort of liquor in his hand. "You know, it is so much fun to finally have you as a guest. Let's make a little phone call before we can start the pleasant part of your stay.“ Robert got up from his chair and made his way over to you. In his other hand already your phone and dialing a number.
"Robert, if something happens to Y/N, I swear…“, you could hear Tom on the other side before Robert interupted him. "Tommy, you should think about what your saying next. Her life is in my hands and you might as well not want to anger me.“, he ripped the tape of your mouth. A cry escaping your lips. "You're dead.“, Toms voice icy. "Any last words, darling?“, Robert holding the phone to your ear. "I…I'm sorry, Tom. H…Haz…“, you were sobbing. "We will get you love. You will be fine. Haz is with me...“, he spoke reassurling to you and you could hear the sound of him driving in the background.
Robert held the phone to his ear. He laughed "Oh, she will be fine when she has a pullet through her head.“ Robert ended the phone call before Tom could reply. "But firstly, we will have a little fun.“, and with that he started to punch you.
You were laying on the floor as another kick hit you but at that point you were numb to it. Barely conscious, you heard the sound of a gun being loaded. That was it. This was your end. Once again the familiar blue eyes entered you mind, memories with Haz flooding it. Times, which were spend with him, Tom and your families. You just hoped that they would forgive you. Your eyes closed, darkness finally hitting you.
I love you, Haz. The sound of a gun going off.
"I need you to wake up, darling. Please, wake up. I love you.“, You could hear a honey like voice next to you. Your body hurt, your head felt like a train had rolled over it and your arms felt limb. You slowly tried to open your eyes but everything was so bright. You tried to move your hand but something was holding it. You groaned.
The bright light was suddenly gone and a hand touched your face. When you finally could open you eyes, you saw Harrisons face. He was leant over you. Your face in his hands. "Oh, thank fucking god.“, teary- eyed he looked down on you. "I'm so sorry, darling. He should never got a hand on you.“ Memories filled your head. „H-Haz“, you chooked out. Your voice being raspy. He caressed your cheeks, whisking you tears away, "He can't do anything to you, anymore. You are save.“ You closed your eyes and took Harrisons hand into yours. You signed as you felt his lips giving you a soft peek on your forehead. When you opened your eyes again, you saw that you were in his bed and you wanted to get up. Haz held you back. "Stay, love. You need rest.“
He handed you a glass of water from the bed side table and you thankfully accepted it. He helped you sit up. "How long was I out?“, you asked after handing him the glass back and leaning into the headboard. "A few hours. We had you checked out and the doctor said that you would be okay. Nothing broken just bruised, thankfully. But you are on bed rest.“ He sat next to you. His eyes never leaving you and a hint of anger in them. "I am so sorry, Haz…“, you wanted to start but your voice giving in. He furrowed his brows, "Why would you be sorry, darling?“ Now, he looked really angry. You hung your head down "Because I was not careful. It is my fault and I made you angry.“
"None of this is your fault, darling. I am angry not because of you. I am angry at that pig piece of shit. That he got his dirty hands on the one girl I love and that you were in danger because of me. Especially on the day I finally wanted to talk with you about my feelings.“, he took your hand into his and squeezed him a bit. "You…Y-You love me?“, your head shoot up. Harrison careful watching you. "Yes, I do and it's okay if you would not feel the same for me. I…I just want to…“, his voice low and him being shy before you stopped him.
You took his face in your hands and looked into his eyes, a small smile grazed your lips before you moved his head down to yours and slowly brought your lips together. You could feel him smile as he moved to carefully bring you a little closer to him. Taking your waist, as you tangled your hands in his hair. His lips felt soft against yours and you never wanted to let go of it. But as Harrison caressed your waist he hit a sore spot and you gasped of pain. Immediatly he let go of you, concern in his eyes "I'm so sorry, Y/N.“
"It's fine. You couldn't know.“ You slung your arms around his neck, still not ready to let him go and trying to lean against him. You could smell his boyish scent mixed with a hint of cigar smell. His arms careful wraped around you. You looked into his eyes, leaning closer as you stole another kiss from him. "I love you, too. In case you couldn´t already guessed.“, you smiled at him.
"Nope, didn't realize it. I think, I need another kiss to have the prove.“ He smirked at you.
"So am I going to be third wheeling from now on?“, came a voice from the door. Tom leaning against the frame. Harrison and you jumped at his voice and you winced in pain. Your body still sore from the attack. "Way to be careful, mate.“, Harrison looked angry at Tom. He let you rest against his chest. "Sorry, Y/N. Just wanted to check on you and the div. But glad that you guys finally got yourselves together.“ Tom grinned a little bit. Harrison signed.
"Thanks Tom. I'm okay, just hurts a little bit and I have a headache.“, you smiled thankfully at him. "I will get you something.“, and with that he left. Harrison groaned and leaned his head on yours. „That div, one day…“ You laughed at his words. He looked at you, a small smile on his lips. His hand playing with your hair before he leaned down to you. About to kiss you again before he whispered "Oh by the way, it's national ´Kiss Your Favorite Person´ day! Pucker Up, buttercup. You're in for the ride of a lifetime.“ You beamed and whispered "Good, I can't wait.“ Lips already hovering over each other.
"Oi and I thought I was your favorite person!“
"Tom, you div.“

emily was born and raised in london to an english father and an american mother. she had a privileged upbringing, and being the only daughter in the grant family, she was spoiled rotten. she was the apple of her father’s eye and got anything she wanted, but that by no means made her a brat. she was taught to be grateful for everything she was given, and has taught that same message to her own children.
she has always been intelligent and sharp-witted. she comes across as aloof to most people. some would call her a bitch, because she’s notorious for being hard to please, but she means well. she’s just tough and wants everything to be perfect.
she’s a journalist, and is a talk show host at elmerton tv station, which is owned by her husband. she hosts a nightly talk show that talks about the current events in florida, as well as nationwide and international issues. she’s married to hunter cartwright and they have two teenagers together. she’s very much in love with her husband and loves her little family.
introducing alessandra... ♡

HOMETOWN: elmerton, florida
CURRENT LOCATION: elmerton, florida

alessandra was born into a large italian family in elmerton. her parents are immigrants from tuscany and moved to florida to make a comfortable home for themselves and their family. upon arriving in america, they already had 3 children and mrs. mariano was 4 months pregnant with alessandra. they didn’t come to the country with much but the small amount of money they saved and a limited amount of clothes for all of them. her father was a cook in a local restaurant for a some time while his wife looked after the kids at home, and also had a little sewing business, which brought in some money for them too. mr and mrs. mariano didn’t speak much english, but as the time went on, they picked up on it.
when alessandra was 6, they welcomed their last baby into the family. a little girl. ally immediately took her under her wing and mothered her, as if she were her own little baby doll. she doted on her younger sister so much, and still does.
alessandra was always a very bright student. she enjoyed school and was good at all of her subjects, but she was also the class clown. being very silly and making the other kids laugh, so she got in trouble sometimes because of that, but she got away with it since she was one of the smartest kids in her grade and didn’t cause any trouble other than that.
when it comes to her personality, alessandra is probably one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. she’s loving, caring, funny, sweet... she’s just a 5′4 ball of sunshine pretty much. she doesn’t say a bad word about anyone, unless they’ve hurt someone she loves.
she’s always been the person her friends and family lean on for support and advice. growing up, she was like another mother to her siblings and always helped them get out of trouble. she had a knack for helping others and enjoyed it, deciding that she wanted do that as a career.
she went to college to study psychology, which was where she met the man who would be her husband. he came from an italian family too, and they bonded over that as well as their common hobbies. ally always had trouble with her sexuality. growing up catholic, she had the idea that same sex relations were bad instilled in her. so, she hid her attraction for women and jumped at the first boy she took an interest in. little did she know, that interest was purely platonic. she loved him, but not in the way he wanted her to. they did end up getting married and having three daughters. ally adored the family she made, but her sexuality was still nagging at the back of her head. she couldn’t live in secret forever. especially considering she was in love with her business partner and close friend. the two began a brief affair and decided to leave their partners for each other. they are currently in a relationship, and alessandra is embracing her life as a newly out and proud lesbian.
