when we explore what happened in your childhood, it is not to blame your parents or have a biased judgement of them. it is to understand how events impacted you and what your experience was. so you don’t have to feel guilty about talking about it or as if you are betraying your family. 

trauma can be of various types and it does not only have to be induced due to one major event. there can also be trauma from situations of acute stress over a prolonged period of time. 

choosing the wrong or right people does not mean they are good or bad. it means understanding what is healthy for you and what you want. it’s not putting them into boxes, it’s simply knowing what is healthy for you.

why do you wait for a green light from others? what is your green light? why do your decisions have to be based on what others want? what do you want?

being a friendly person and being an open book does not mean that you cannot have boundaries. 

you disappointing someone or them disappointing you does not have to be the end of the relationship.

so soo many things to say, first, tumblr psychologist. i need help. why is it that when my family wants me to eat more even when i say no, it almost brings me to tears? next, 2 (TWO) family members so far have asked to see my bf, i told them i didnt have one, and BOTH went "oh... youre 20 though right?" Also the only thing i've done so far is read AO3 smut/fan fic on my kindle so i hope yall are proud. OH AND i am genuinely doing really well here :) i get up early, wash dishes, take care of myself, and read. its almost like im not mentally ill lol

So uh. I’m having a bit of a hard time understanding the difference between adhd and autism.

I have heard it has to do with adhd being attention based but can’t autistic people have issues with attention too? Both have issues paying attention if the subject isn’t interesting/isn’t about a special interest or hyperfixation.

I mean I have also heard the attention span thing can connect to social issue too, that people with adhd have trouble socializing due to their attention spans where as autistic people struggle with socializing cause of social cues but I thought both struggled with social cues? I thought both misunderstood social cues with some expections? (This does not enclude people with both adhd and autism, I know traits will overlap)

So how is adhd and autism different?

Edit: so I read the Neurodivergent Insight post about Autism vs Adhd and it seems that people with adhd can understand social cues but only if they are able to focus so the social cues part I said is inaccurate.

I’m gonna try and do a bit more research on the differences between hyperactivity and repetitive behaviors and then write them here when I get a chance because that seems to be the largest difference between adhd and autism

my dog might die tonight

my mom's depressed and emotionally exhausted, to the point she slurs her words and feels like a zombie most days

has said to my face she doesn't want to fix it

that soon her mom will die and me and my sister are grown so...

we don't need her

and my dog's old and sick

in pain

at the vet getting oxygen and medication

to see if he'll make it through the night

and thank god he's there, so he doesn't have to suffer

but he's not next to us

he might die alone away from us

i think there's some poetic bullshit there

he would die in pain by our side

but he has a chance to survive away from us

and if he doesn't make it till the next day he'll die alone, but without pain

i just want to take everyone's pain away

but I can't

i can't fix it

it's not up to me

i can't do shit
