Overhaul for the character ask!

How I feel about this character:

Blorbo of all time. He is sooooo me. On a more serious note, there was so much possible characterization that BnHA dropped into him--so much juicy potential--and it was all wasted. Pair that up with him being an antagonist who did horrible things and it was like a perfect storm to get me way too invested in him lmao. Also, I recently had a pretty unwelcome revelation about myself about how I usually find the major antagonists/villains of a show that unwittingly self-sabotage through social incompetence/bluntness/lack of empathy relatable which does not bode well for my social life hahaha but that's oversharing so I'm just gonna--

All the people I ship "romantically" with this character:

Disclaimer: I actually usually headcanon him as aro, so often the "romantic" shipping I have for him isn't actually romantic but sexual and/or queerplatonic, because I'm taking this as a question for 'who do I ship him with in a way that isn't just conventional friendship or in a familial/family-esque relationship'.

Kurono Hari: My main partner for the guy, and any OT3s I form for Kai are pretty much always going to have Hari as the second member, with the third varying. I have seen and do enjoy outright romantic Chronohaul, but when I write it I'll usually make an effort to make it either explicitly queerplatonic or Definitely A Relationship but not really a romantic relationship, ykno? Usually I like to think that they've been together for a while even before the show starts, in a solid years-long committed relationship that probably started (if not in its current form) when they were teenagers. I really like the idea of two similar people having found each other and finding strength and understanding in each other even as they're so different from everyone else around them, even if they end up reinforcing each other's destructive tendencies. Also, it's T4T. That part's very important.

Dabi: Funny story, I ended up watching BnHA because some of my online friends were huge DabiHaul shippers, so that was the ship I was primed for. And then I got attached to Chisaki and every other named character in the Hassaikai and ended up primarily shipping Chronohaul, and Dabi ended up usually being their third and shipped with both. I imagine that this ship (Chronodabihaul) is purely a sexual one, a fuckbuddy type thing for stress relief. It may or may not develop some stronger commitments/feelings later on, if and when the League and the Hassaikai stop virulently hating each other (and if/when Dabi stops being so obsessed with revenge), but that's not really a given.

Aizawa Shouta: This is definitely not a ship that's on the forefront of my mind, but it still has a soft spot in my void of a heart. Just like Dabi, I can very much see him in an OT3 with Chronohaul, although I feel like Aizawa would be in a much more long-term relationship with them. I can also see he and just Kai having an emotional short-term fling, but that would either cool down into just-friends or Hari would end up with them after a while, making it the OT3. Also, I have an angsty soulmate AU oneshot WIP that focuses on Overzawa, so.

Nemoto Shin: I don't actually really ship this character with Chisaki (I hc Chisaki as romance repulsed aroallo and Nemoto as sex-repulsed alloace), but I have an priest/demon AU in my WIPs that's got some heavy Nemotohaul implications, so I think I'd be remiss not to mention him here.

My non-romantic OTP for this character:

I have several, actually:

Lady Nagant, aka Tsutsumi Kaina, of course. I know a lot of people on Tumblr like to ship Sniperhaul, but it just doesn't interest me. Seems kind of shallow, honestly (apologies to any Sniperhaul shippers reading this). I see them better as bickering sibling types after Chisaki heals at least a little bit from solitary confinement. And also as mlm/wlw solidarity.

I really like the idea of Chisaki taking Yaoyorozu Momo under his wing, teaching her chemical formulas for poisons and tips and tricks for combating performance anxiety. (I also really like the idea that they're genetically related...and don't find out until well after they've established their mentor/mentee relationship lmao.)

Nemoto Shin again, since I usually like him and Chisaki as close friends. Chisaki goes to him for questions like "what the fuck am I feeling and how do I make it stop" or "how the hell do emotions work".

Also, weirdly enough, when I'm imagining the sort of AU where he gets thrown in some labyrinth and has to figure out how to survive/get out with a bunch of other characters it's unlikely he'd interact with otherwise, I think Midnight might actually like him. She'd think he's cute. He wouldn't like Midnight back though.

My unpopular opinion about this character:

Do you mean unpopular for the wider fandom, or just among people that like this specific character? Because if it's the first, then all of my opinions for this character are unpopular, but if it's the second, then I'm not sure I have unpopular opinions/headcanons on him so much as opinions/headcanons that aren't widely held and/or thought about. I'm gonna list some that might be considered 'unpopular' among Chisaki/Hassaikai fans, although I'm not actually sure they are:

Pops wasn't a good parent. I imagine him something like the (fanon) Fenton parents from Danny Phantom; affectionate and kind, but only when he a) remembers to pay attention and b) Kai isn't in trouble. Unfortunately, these times are few and far between. Kai ends up as the 'weird kid' a lot during his childhood/teenage years and becomes the automatic scapegoat, and Pops doesn't even question any accusations brought against his kid, which doesn't help the fact that Kai has been conditioned not to speak up for his own innocence by teachers and other authority figures punishing him for 'talking back.' So it ends up with most of Kai's memories being of Pops punishing him for things he never did, being part of The System that hurt him so bad, and with Pops having this concept of Kai as a Bad Kid(TM) that's mostly unearned, and it escalates to the point where Chisaki feels safer with Pops in a coma than with Pops talking and walking around even as he craves Pops' affection.

Objectively speaking, at least from a utilitarian/obligation perspective, Chisaki is morally better than Enji. I'm so sorry for this proxissima, but Kai only hurt one kid that wasn't his actual kid--it was a child that someone else gave to him with vague instructions to 'figure out her Quirk' and he didn't feel like he could refuse, whereas Enji had four children for the purpose of surpassing All Might and traumatized them all with his lack of care for their wellbeing, albeit in different ways. Obviously, Kai had an obligation to not be shitty to a kid, but Enji had extra obligations because those were his actual kids that he had on purpose. Also, Kai grew up in the probably highly toxic and violent yakuza, whereas Enji went into law enforcement and therefore should have more regard for the fact that, at least, child abuse is fucking illegal.

Chisaki legitimately cares about the Expendables/Bullets/Precepts of Death, and considers himself an Expendable. I'm not sure entirely how to explain this one, but I greatly prefer the idea that Chisaki took in many of the Expendables (minus Rappa, who followed him home) because he understood the kind of shit they were going through over what was implied in canon (that he manipulated them into being super loyal to him so that he could throw them away).

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

MORE CHARACTERIZATION! ANY CHARACTERIZATION! Especially characterization that showed actual positive traits! Yes, the remorse he showed for putting Pops in a coma after the prison break was arguably a step in the right direction, but it was also tied up in some really weird ableist/sanist connotations about how "this was his punishment" or something, and Deku (obligatory fucking Deku) still demanded that he feel more remorse about what he did to Eri even though he wasn't mentally all there, and also demanding that people feel certain emotions in general is entitled and shitty. Even though the narration of BnHA clearly makes out Deku to be the ultimate moral authority in the story.

Like--it's just so fucking obvious that Chisaki was made just to be a generic evil villain for Deku to beat up without the audience questioning why he's so blatantly betraying his professed ideal of "save everyone" and for Shigaraki to play off against to make him look better. And it wasn't even done well. This man is clearly mentally ill from like the first time we see him, and solitary confinement only exacerbated it. One thing I would have loved to see in canon, instead of All Of That, was if Deku guessed that Eri was being abused and ended up blatantly wrong, taking away a child from a loving home after she's already had trauma from accidentally Rewinding her father out of existence and her mother treating her as a monster and abandoning her. Hell, you could still have the Quirk-erasing bullets in play--just have Chisaki take and start cloning a red bone marrow sample from Eri so that he has enough blood without harming her more than a single surgery.

Yea, that was definitely way longer than you probably wanted, and it took longer than I wanted, but I have a Lot of thoughts on this guy. I'll answer the other two requests at a later date, because I need to study for and take at least one final today.

So this is an AU RP I’m doing with my friend. I play Teen Kai (19) and he’s short (5′3) compared to Dabi (6′0). Basically Kai is a submissive Brat and Dabi’s his boyfriend.

❮ There Kai was, back pressed up against the corner of a wall, the hard surface felt oddly hot — safe to say it was due to his own body temperature, rising from the current situation. All the emotions he felt were beginning to swarm within his mind with pandemonium. Thoughts that would twist and manipulate themselves from hating every moment of this affair to desiring more and wanting to go deeper within the chasm of curiosity. He knew from day one that this person was his one and only. No one else could make him feel this way, this needy desire to be pleased. Desire to be dominated. Desire to be put in line and told what to do. All of it ached within his bones and truth be told, Chisaki thrived for this kind of thing.

At least on one hand away. On the other, the nauseous feeling of being touched inappropriately was something he still had to cope with. He's only ever been kissed once and that alone was horrifying whereas this? ... This was just the beginning of what one of his stature would define as The Plague. Still, the abyss of the unknown spoke to him ... drawing him inside like a cave of gold treasures to a dragon or perhaps like when an otter see's something shiny. That's how Kai felt towards this new appeal, it was something he couldn't let go of so easily. This was the one time he'd stick around  with a mind full of regret. Probably.

Dabi's tongue had already violated his insides to some degree. He could still imagine the numbing feeling of that wide tongue carelessly stroking against his own while venturing around every nook and cranny that was within reach. Their saliva had mixed and the thought of his lover's germs spreading in his mouth and being swallowed wasn't entirely bad.

Kai, for a moment, had been snapped out of his little fantasy world when Dabi pressed in closer. The patched villain dug his knee further into the Yakuza's groin which warranted a soft submissive groan. ❯

〝 D... Dabi ... Wait. 〞

❮ Chisaki let his boyfriend continue on with doing whatever he pleased. A hand snaked under his chin to lean his head back so that their eyes could meet. Honey Gold clashing with Turquoise Blue. One spelt Prey while the other Hunter. Dabi was clearly the latter and would treat Chisaki as a meal. Still, he remained obedient and looked up into the man's eyes. Had he acted the way he felt inside ... he'd surely be a disgrace to the Yakuza Clan.

The League Member's long elegant fingers coiled themselves around his throat and in that instant - Chisaki felt his heart drop to the pit of his stomach and skip a beat or two. Pressure had been applied, pressure that created panic within his fragile mind but he stayed calm in a sense to where this wouldn't be uncomfortable. Like Dabi said ... Enjoy it for once, and so that's what he did. Or tried to do.

He wanted to pant softly when the grip grew a bit tighter, it wasn't a fast squeeze but a gradual one where it felt like he couldn't even get words out. That added to the tingling sensation under his skin, it was safe to say that [tingly] feeling meant he was growing aroused.

The expression Dabi wore was unlike something he'd seen before but it didn't frighten him, ... not yet. If he made any noises to protest, then Shigaraki would find them or at least someone in the group. This meant Chisaki [had] to comply. His lover's tonality stroked is submissive ego. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't resist at this point. Before getting a single word in, their lips were knitted together and Dabi's tongue forcefully clung to the inside's of Chisaki's mouth. Stretching back as far as it could possibly go which warranted a whine from the brunet. His grip on Dabi's loose fitted shirt never faltered, whining through the kiss though he'd brush his lips back against Dabi's. This time without hesitation. ❯

〝 Mmf... 〞

❮ His cheeks had warmed to a shade of pink from being choked and kissed at the same time. But then, Chisaki had been caught off guard. His legs had been swept out from under him and wrapped around the villain's waist and still his back was pressed firmly to the plaster. Reflexively, fear of falling won and Kai's arms laced around Dabi's neck.

Quickly, their lips were locked once more and now was when he finally opted to let go and give in. He pressed his lips back against his lover's firmly, a full on open-mouthed kiss that drove into something sexual. Chisaki couldn't tell what this feeling was but he knew its what he wanted. Right. Now. A gloved hand buried itself within the ebony shade of hair, gripping somewhere between tender and rough.

The young Yakuza was getting used to breathing and kissing at the same time though they were hot and heavy breathes through his nose, desperate noises in between their kissing. Ones that ruptured with pleasure.

Not to forget about the feeling growing in his pants, the excitement was thrilling for his first time.

When the man's pierced tongue licked and strutted against his own muscle, twirling and wrestling Kai couldn't help but feel as though he belonged to Dabi in more ways than one.

Hearing those ungodly growls and disgruntled noises slip made the Yakuza leader whimper submissively into their everlasting kiss. He wanted to be obedient and show that Dabi owned him ... in a romantic way of course.

A moment after, their line of nerve sending tremors was brought to an end. A thin thread of saliva linking to their lips, though Kai looked way more messier than Dabi .. a tad bit of drool going over the curve of his lip and down his chin. You could call that sexy actually. Now, Dabi's lips teasingly traced along the shell of the brunet's ear with heavy pants.

Kai let his hands stay loosely behind his lover versus in his hair, they were draped over his shoulders, eyes partially closed while he listened to their breathing ... that is until Dabi bucked his hips roughly. Grinding his hard-on against Kai's groin. Somewhere between there and his ass, really ...

Chisaki reached out with an arm, grasping at thin air and buried his face within his lover's neck innocently to hide his heat cheeks. Both of them were panting but those bucking hips really fucked with Kai. It was one of his weaknesses.

Dabi truly was like a wild animal, preying on something small than himself.  ❯

〝A —Ah... No, wait — Hnf.. Dabi.

Please...  〞

❮ The protest wasn't real enough for the man to stop, in fact it was a green light for him to continue.

Sinful thoughts protruded around in his mind, each one rearing its ugly head out and tempting Kai to be just how he wanted ... A disgusting kinky bitch in heat.

Now wasn't the time to deny it or play stupid, he just bit his lower lip, holding onto his boyfriend with arms around his neck and hitched breathing.

In a docile, obedient tone — Kai answered the Rhetorical statement. ❯

Shiggy stans harassing Overhaul stans is weird. Overhaul canonically murdered three people (Magne/Nighteye/rando mafia dude) on "screen". Shigaraki is a confirmed mass murderer as of MVA arc, even more so as of the War arc. He almost killed Aizawa, ffs. A fan favorite. Overhaul killed two villains and Nighteye, whom we barely knew. 🙄

Kai: ❮ He's just going to look up at his boyfriend. Not too happy about this height difference. ❯ Dabi: How can he not like the height difference? It gives him benefits.          He can feel secure being held by someone taller and a bit larger than him. Speaking of being held, Dabi is pulling Kai into his arms right now and pressing a kiss to his forehead. ❝Why so serious~?�� Kai: ❝ Mmh? ❞ Chisaki had been wearing his doctor mask for obvious reasons, not too comfortable with having it off yet. His cheek stayed where it belonged, against his lover's chest. A sacred spot, within Dabi's arms — He couldn't picture being elsewhere. He couldn't even fake disliking the kiss upon his forehead, but of course he'd try by making a soft disgruntled noise. Slowly coiling his arms around his boyfriend and lacing his fingers with the taller man's shirt to keep him where he stood. ❝ Just because you're taller doesn't mean anything. I could still take you down ... if I wanted to. ❞ A bold lie. Obviously, Kai was smaller and docile in attitude when it came to Dabi. Partially remembering his place within their relationship. Dabi: ❝Hmmm~.❞ Dabi hummed in response, amused. His complacent smirk showing that he called the other’s bluff. Kai is strong, yes, but it was no longer in his nature to be so aggressive. Deft, slightly calloused fingers ran through the brunette’s hair gently as he cradled him against his chest, his breathing slowing to a steady pace. Dabi was starting to notice being around him made him completely at ease, forgetting of his stress. He wondered why he tried to run away from that before. ❝It’ll be bedtime soon. Wanna watch  a movie before going to sleep? You can pick whatever you want. I’ll get you whatever snacks you want, too.❞  He’s in a pampering mood tonight, obviously. Seen not only through his words, but through his hands that fell to Kai’s shoulders and began massaging them. Kai: He brought his eyes to a closure and listened to his boyfriend's words. That familiar voice that just brought him home every time. Thinking of it as a voice that called him whenever he was in a dark place. It was his light source. The caressing of his hair relaxed his demeanor back to mellow and content. At least until it stopped and those hands fell to his shoulders. . . . Kai huffed and placed one back ontop of his head. ❝ I didn't say stop. ❞ Opening a single golden hue and snaking up to look at Dabi when the movie idea was suggested. ❝ I forgot we have Netflix ... sounds nice. Mmh... are you sure about watching a movie though? ❞ Dabi: Dabi noticed Kai visibly relaxing, his muscles becoming less tense under his hands. Though having his hand placed back atop his head and the snippy words coming from him did give the taller man that bold urge to be in control again. ❝Don’t be a little brat. I wanna cater to you tonight, but not if you’re gonna be mean.❞  Still, he complied with the shorter man’s wish, continuing to comb through those locks lovingly. ❝You know we both could use a movie and some cuddles, anyway. I thought I’d be nice and let you pick  what we watch. But if you want to do something else, then you can tell me.❞ He then weaved a finger through the strap of that mask, pulling it off only to expose Kai’s lips. A quick kiss was planted upon them before he put the mask back in its place, offering a kind smile. Kai: Honey Gold irises widened in shock when his mask was removed for a brief second. Supple marred skin to skin contact, their lips brushing against one another before it abruptly faded. All Chisaki could do was swallow. His cheeks reddened, similar to a cherry. Slowly blinking. The teen tried to decipher the small token of affection. His heart felt like it dropped from its cavity, kind of like getting in an elevator that went too fast and stopped. Affection was something the Yakuza was used to but; Admittedly, it had been a while since they did something in his favor that warranted a blush. Finally gathering his thoughts and keeping them together, he darted his eyes off to the side with a quiet sheepish voice. 〝 I'm not a brat. . . And . . . Maybe we could kiss more? 〞 Dabi: Ah, that reaction was priceless. It warranted a soft chuckle from Dabi, and he felt that swell of pride in his chest. He hadn’t the courage to take that mask off until now. He had been afraid that he would be rejected. To know that his love is accepted is the biggest relief. The raven-haired man wasn’t unsusceptible to the feeling of embarrassment and being flustered, however. His cheeks were tinged pink, his demeanor just slightly awkward. But that was outweighed by his delight. ❝You’re my little brat~.❞ He teases whilst pinching Kai’s cheek softly. ❝Of course we can kiss more~. In fact, I want kisses every day. Now. Is there anything in particular you wanna eat before we watch our movie?❞ Kai: ❮ Kai had closed one of his eyes when Dabi gripped his cheek between his thumb and index finger. Despite it being soft, it was reflexive for the teen to close a single eye and flinch. That redden tint to his cheeks didn't disappear in the least but a faint whimper slipped. ❯ 〝 /Your/ brat?, I'd like to see you prove that statement. Right here ... right now, I want you to ... — 〞 ❮ Just then, Chisaki paused and brushed his boyfriend's hand away gently. Trying his best to find the words that fit into that sentence. ❯ 〝 I want you to make out with me .... I want ... You to put that passion into me again, and then we'll see where it goes. 〞 ❮ Kai had ignored the entire suggestion on a movie, they could watch a movie [after] they were done with whatever this was about to lead to. The look in the Yakuza's eyes was clear and intense, speaking of something Animal and Lustful. ..
