finally finished tsc tonight and I’m feeling insane

honestly it’s so iconic of Nora to create a character that’s the saddest beaten-dog-whipping-boy where the only version of the books where he doesn’t die is the final version, and then to give him his own books where he gets to live

everything we learned about Jean just got sadder and more horrific but the pieces for him to be happy, or at least more at peace, are there. Jean gets to join Kevin and Neil on the journey away from the Ravens when he was supposed to die in the Nest. At the beginning of tsc Jean literally couldn’t believe Kevin would willingly go on vacation but by the end he was going on leisurely rides up the coast for dinner.

I’m so glad Nora let Jean live and I’m so unbelievably excited for more.
