Some more of that Chai joins Vandelay for half a day AU. Or just a picture of a kinda OOC Kale chilling if you wanna gloss over those comics. I'm still not sure if the colours are too garish or not.

These were mostly done with the premise of treating Kale's office like the hideout. I also really like how mundane, or familiar, the interactions between Chai and Kale can be in the game so I wanted to draw some stuff exploring more like that. But also, there's the ulterior motive of shipping so I included an out of context scene because I can't bother drawing the rest of it (though it seems like a huge jump in their relationship as a result. I think they're so big headed that they get stuck in a feedback loop of stroking the other's ego if an excuse comes up to do so)

#adventures in writing #the idea engine is warming up #by now i've got a certain sense of what kind of stories i generate for the inklings challenge #mash up one of the genres with another work or genre and create some half-baked world #the most recent is: the boxcar children as a portal fantasy #older sister and middle brother and younger sister the oldest no more than eleven or twelve #fantasy world royalty who flee from danger (probably an evil usurping uncle who wants to kill them like it's the aristocats)#and stumble into our world #and have to have all sorts of orphan adventures as they figure out how to survive #scrounging for supplies #setting up housekeeping in the woods or in some kind of abandoned building #figuring out our world and making friends #which they're going to need once the evil uncle's forces come after them #it would be so so middle grade and so derivative and such cheesy earnest fun #telling you about it now because it's the type of story idea that loses its luster in 24 hours #and i'll probably never write it #but also it can go on an inklings list and who knows #maybe three days before the deadline this one will pop up as a viable option for this year

ive made myself more wet and pathetic

#new icon because im SUFFERING. im in HELL #its so bad. i had to sign out of discord so now im both lonely and stressed #because i KNOW im still gonna get dstracted. i just did making this URGH #how good are brains at working around things. i once set a 7AM alarm on my phone with snooze cause i was so sure my brain would #be too lazy and keep snoozing instead of actually turning it off. but nay it either kept sleeping through the alarms and snoozing #or actually managed to turn off the alarm half awake that i barely remembered it and then waking up late #i actually have a track record of climbing out of bed and turning my alarm off without remembering. which is impressive bc i have a loftbed #the other thing is setting fake deadlines so make myself panic into doing things ahead of time. but unfortunately that doesnt work either #because if theres one thing my brain will put all its energy into remembering its self assurance. meaning i WILL be able to remember #the real deadline even if i try to trick myself. cant ask someone to give me a fake deadline either #the only things keeping me going rn is that i have deadlines due at least 1 day between each other and excitement being able to talk with #crow after break. but you can see how well thats going <- ignores long term rewards in favor of short term pleasure #BTW CROW IF YOURE READING THIS IM SO SORRY TURNING OFF MY DISCORD WITH BARELY ANY EXPLANATION #im a huge fucking dumbass and i had barely enough impulse control not to block everyone in my dms because i realized that would send a real #really bad msg. youre not distracting me im distracting myself and i promise youre not annoying me i just really like talking to you and #thats why im just barely stopping myself from signing in. i might sound like a conspiracy theorist but im reading up on the animation studio review spreadsheet for bento box studios (the one currently animating the hazbin hotel show) and alot of these are like. from only a couple months ago. and theyre ALL negative, talking about abusive management, harsh deadlines and poor treatment of fresh animators. and with the new hazbin hotel trailer out i wonder if the poor quality of the trailer might be because of the crew being overworked / dealing with poor management. there's some interesting remarks about higher-ups and abusive producers. chewing on this.

#heres the situation: for my cognitive literary studies class (quite fun) we had to pick primary material and a cognitive angle to analyse it #from. and the deadline was coming up and i who have been thinking very intensely about robots for the last half a year picked #yeah you guessed it. fucking PIERS PLOWMAN. which is not fun for me but i panicked about the deadline #so now i have to do something about piers plowman and its cognitive literary properties #and im in hell this is hell i have been extremely stressed about piers plowman for a month. to the point where ive been in physical pain #AND I CANNOT. THINK OF ANYTHING. ABOUT PIERS PLOWMAN.#and the teacher for that class is so nice and chill and she was like you can pick anything at all. and i went with piers plowman #like it's interesting but from what COGNITIVE angle can i approach piers plowman.#ive been thinking about saying exactly this that piers plowman is more for historical linguists and theologists than narratologists but im #also positive plenty of scholars read piers plowman for the plot #so then i thought about the characters and whether you can Connect with them and whether they help you Immerse yourself in the story and #other terminology i learned in cognitive literary studies class.#theyre allegorical and very 1 dimensional and there could be something about whether we from 2024 understand them in the same way #people from the 14th century did. like this was what i put in my proposal when i made it #but now i actually have to make the slides and use cognitive literary papers for this and it's just not going at all. i cant do it.#i cant do anything i cant enjoy the daylight and the warmer weather i cant think about anything other than im not making progress on this #and it's bad for me!! it's bad for my health i feel bad. why did i go with piers plowman why did i not pick watership down #my post #i have plenty to say about watership downm cognitively.#also about old possums book of practical cats #maybe i could email her and tell her id like to change it.. no #ive also been reading the tombs of atuan which is incredible

gonna literally throw virtual knives at the next person who says 34 & 16 need to step up in playoffs as if half the problem in previous years wasn’t management not surrounding them with complimentary players. like there is only so much two players can do. a team wins a cup, not individual players. like there’s a reason people you wouldn’t assume have a cup, have a cup, and that’s because they were part of a team that was built to support the name players.

i don’t need flashy deadline adds because a lot of the time it ruins team chemistry and things fall apart after a round. i just want a team that will go to war for each other, a team where people know what role they’re there to play and do it well, a team that has depth players they can call on when injury happens, because those are the kind of teams that win cups.

like yeah some of the greatest players have cups. but so do a bunch of guys you’ve probably never heard of. because it takes a whole team.

#the rhetoric from pundits and some twitter fans is just Annoying #literally HOW MANY YEARS did they do the big name splashy deadline add #and it’s never worked out #like literally never #people can talk about ror last playoffs but look at who was actually winning games for them #he wasn’t the one putting the team on his back and scoring goals to tie the games to drag them to overtime #he was good but the revisionist history about him making all the difference is exhausting #also no one ever wants to admit that a good chunk of winning a cup is luck #because it is #sometimes it’s just dumb fucking luck #because that’s sports in all its heartbreaking reality #you can do everything right and still lose #a goalie can go on a heater #players can get injured #everything adds up #so anyway i’m fine with the adds the leafs made and i’m fine with it being a quieter deadline #cards are set and we’ll see what happens #toronto maple leafs
