So, about Mike calling El ‘Eleven’ more than most other characters, I’m thinking that that actually is saying something.
Season one, didn’t Mike call give El her nickname? This was before Lucas asked if he had a crush on her, and before anything like that had been implied. The first part of season one was the most genuine their relationship has been. They were just friends.
Mike switching from calling El ‘El’ to ‘Eleven’ could be showing that he’s putting distance between them. If their relationship made them both happy, then wouldn’t Mike call El by a nickname?
Like Nancy and ‘Nance’. There are quite a few people that call her that, and they’re close to her. It’s not necessarily romantic but it could be indicative of how comfortable they are in their relationships with her.
Suzie and Dustin are also an example of this; they call each other many cheezy nicknames. Dusty-bun. Suzie-Poo. Etc.
Even Max and Lucas have MADMAX, which is important to the whole party, but it’s Lucas who held onto it.
Joyce and Hopper; ‘hop’, Joyce rarely calls Hopper ‘Jim’. But she has called him ‘hop’ a few times throughout the series.
El and Mike have ‘El’ but Mike’s stopped using it. It’s also important to note that Hopper rarely calls El ‘Eleven’. He usually says something like, “hey, kid” or ‘El’ and that shows their relationship. It’s stable and they’re happy with it. El is Hopper’s daughter, and Hopper is El’s dad.
Mike doesn’t really have a nickname. However, we do see it when people call him by his full name. His mother and Nancy usually, and Ted if he’s actually there. Really the only person to call Mike ‘Michael’ who isn’t a family member is Will.
Almost everyone calls El ‘El’. It’s her name. She does have Jane but she hasn’t asked for anyone to call her that (for now at least). She’s comfortable with being called ‘El’.
But Mike stopped calling her that. It’s probably not because he’s intentionally being an asshole, and probably not with an intention of anything at all really.
He was fine calling her ‘El’ when they were friends, but not when they’re in a romantic relationship because he’s not comfortable with that change.

@smolkattvt He's adorable, isn't he! And, thank you so much! I'm actually really nervous and excited about it. It's the first major surgery of my transition! It's also my first elective surgery too. It should go great. My surgeon is amazing! I only have 38 hours to go! I can't wait!

i think mithrun is a really neat character because everyone around him is very aware that he is too disabled to live on his own, but that doesn't stop him from also being a capable captain. his arc is both "am i still able to be a Person after trauma?" and the understanding that regardless of how his healing progresses, he was always worthy of respect & personhood
