i think this is probably an unpopular opinion but i just. have such a hard time trying to get myself to care about ast*rion past how i would care about most strangers. wish them well, be polite and civil, but i’m not that interested in them. i’ve felt like this since i was like midway through my first run but it just feels like every other companion wants to change and improve themselves throughout the course of the game, even if you dont actively push them. but ast*rion isn’t really like that imo. it feels like unless you actively and consistently push him throughout the game, he stays pretty much the same person at the end of the game. i may be wrong, i’ve never fully played through his romance so maybe its different if youre romancing him? but i’m just really not interested in feeling like i’m parenting a 200 year old elf vampire. i don’t dislike astarion! i feel like his story is well written and he’s a complex, interesting character! i totally understand why so many people like him so much! hell i enjoy his character, i just dont particularly enjoy trying to get close to him. i dont like having to feel like i’m pushing him so much. i don’t want to feel responsible for a grown ass man in that way.

do u have any disco recs. bc. 🤝 iam also interested in Music Genre bc of Video Game and idk where to start
grabbing your shoulders. yes. yes i do . come with me.
some of these wont be strictly disco and more like. flirting with disco you know? just trust me here lol. theres a surprising amount of genre overlap and i dont have a lot of music on my playlist thats strictly disco. lots of souk/funk/disco hybrids going on here. we love variety
i feel like a good introductory band is the village people. everyone loves the village people who doesnt love the village people!!!!! id recommend macho man or honestly just. any of their songs really. come on its the village people!!
and honestly there are a lot of popular songs that are disco you probably love already. im so excited by the pointer sisters. knock on wood by amii stewart. never can say goodbye by gloria gaynor!!! all fucking bangers!! also all very high-tempo, high energy female-sung songs.
SAME WITH THE BEE GEES!!!!!! FUCKING LOVE THE BEE GEES!!!!!! nights on broadway is one of my all time favorites out of anything ever but of course youve got your classics. more than a woman. stayin alive. how deep is your love. night fever. i fucking love the bee gees dude. this is what you need in order to get the schmoovement going. listen to nights on broadway first. that song changed me from the inside out.
do i even have to say disco inferno by the trammps? anything from the saturday night fever soundtrack. do yourself a favor and watch saturday night fever also. like the last three songs i mentioned are in that movie too, the bee gees play a lot in it. fuck it can i just put the entire saturday night fever soundtrack on here? a fifth of beethoven fucking slaps. you should be dancing also rules.
i got the vinyl for the album paradise ballroom by Graeme Edge Band and so far everything on this album is disco-esque and just generally groovy as fuuuuuuck. the titular song paradise ballroom is eight minutes long and is FAN FUCKING TASTIC but dont skip on everybody needs somebody either. so far im a big fan of the whole album (listening to it as i write this)
gonna get over you by france joli for when you want to be schmooving for a while its like a 7 minute long song lol
whispering waves by donna summer also rules, very slow and groovy and romantical
this is where it gets more hodgepodge genre wise so ill just rattle some off. rubberband man by the spinners, sunny by boney m, uhhhhh does marvin gaye count? fuck it ill toss marvin gaye in there. marvin gaye has the fuck jams. so if you need a bangin soundtrack (soundtrack for bangin) then get marvin gaye on there. thats all i can think of right now i hope thats helpful!

i’ve realized what a good litmus test is for the quality of a branch of monster high media: HOW WELL IS CLEO WRITTEN? her character’s writing is a great litmus test for the rest of the writing.
g1 diaries - give cleo the most nuance, is one of the most well-beloved mh canon sources that has super fun worldbuilding, character development, and lore not seen in the animated stuff
g1 webisodes - cleo starts off pretty shallow in s1 (the worst season) but she’s more fleshed out by the time season 2 comes around. another well-done series that is fun to watch
g1 movies - cleo’s 2nd most sympathetic portrayal that has some of her best character moments of all time. these are the Classics of mh. these are the big guns.
g1 ghoulfriends books - cleo is very one-note. not a huge fan of this cleo because im 100% certain the author has a deuchelle agenda. all this cleo does is scream and complain about things. but the books are pretty simple overall. a few interesting things happen but they’re easily skippable if you’re not a completionist
g1 lisi harrison books - the 2nd worst cleo. has her moments of depth but it’s all for naught when she is just straight-up cruel to people she cares about. reflects how the rest of the series has so many moments that COULD be something better but it’s overall just a bad, BAD series for innumerable reasons.
g2 movies - the #1 most sympathetic portrayal. she’s really not that mean she’s just kinda impatient. very enthusiastic. reflects how g2 was less edgy overall but still had lots of heart. iEnjoy
g2 ghoul squad - cleo’s fun but kinda bland. same as the series. nothing to report on either of them
g3 live action - the #1 worst cleo. whitewashed and not written with a single ounce of nuance. not even deuce wants to talk to her. frustrating on all accounts. both her and the movie itself have one saving grace. cleo’s is her pajamas with the scarab brooch, and the movie’s is Frankie’s Existence
g3 nick show - the kookiest cleo yet. love that for her. she’s got the most monstery traits/abilities out of all the cleos, showing how mh is branching out of its normal comfort zone to make something fun. give her some convos with deuce and this might be A Favorite Cleo for me. i’m liking the show a lot too, it’s fun!
g1/g3?? haunt couture diaries - this is a cleo written by someone who has taken 1 feminism class in their entire life and didn’t do any prior research before writing these stupid things. hollow and doesn’t match g3 canon, but also falls out of line with g1, where i think it’s supposed to be. stop giving cleo (and monster high in general) to people who can’t write beyond a “tween drama movie aimed at 12 year olds who think they’re outgrowing dcoms” level

hiii do you have a favourite Saw movie?
That might contain some spoilers ig?
That's actually a great question. But im not sure how to answer tbh. I kinda love the first 3, the first one is classic, the second one is maybe a bit... Different? but i also love it. I was unsure about third one at the beggining but i love how much they show us when it comes to relationships. Amanda... Shes... Shes so me.....
IV I LOVE TIME/THEMATIC BUCKLE? IDK HOW ITS CALLED BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. I mean that we start at the end? YOU KNOW. Im also a big fan of Hoffman casually standing up and being like. So yeah. Im working with him lolz.
V frindship is magic and players forgot about it! Oopsies. I dont think i have anything more to add really. Oh no! Wait. Glass coffin. That's why you should always listem to the end of a tape
VI i dont hate it? Its not bad but its not the best. Basically Hoffman being like oh no, people. Time to get agressive. But i LOVE his scenes in reverse bear trap. That was quite badass
VII i dont like the ending. Tbh? I dont see a reason for the doctor to be another one helping? And i just feel that... That's just not it.
And the 7 part is for me the last one :33 im sorry
Yes so to answer
First three movies are holy for me. The classics, the great trylogy. If you want to say that you watched Saw and that you understand it to certain point i think that that's your go to. I also think that the 7 movie is the worst one from these for me.
But for sure i love connections! References!
So yeah. I would say that my ranking would go somehow like this:
1. I and III
2. II and IV
3. V
4. VI
VII

*years later* thanks so much for the tag @lovelybeautifulpretty!! cant recall if i warned u before but i tend to go buckwild with these, sorry and your welcome :D
Here are top 10 fav films and surprise surprise, im just a hot mess of eclectic tastes 🤷‍♀️ in no particular order:
Tumblr media
Robocop
This 80s masterpiece is a smart political satire/social commentary disguised as a comic book/action revenge movie that interweaves hilarious dark humor, ultraviolence and science fiction in a simple yet seamless plot. It will honestly SHOCK you just how much it has to say on American evolutions in capitalism, media influence, desensitization to violence, gentrification, and our perception of heroes, each in service of a greater conversation about identity and culture.
Tumblr media
Atonement
I consider this film the pinnacle of an angsty/doomed romance executed perfectly on-screen: the performances, the cinematography, the music, EVERYTHING!! Funny story, me & the girlfriends went to see this in theaters expecting a typical period romance; left completely snot-dripping, bawling our eyes out. I shit you not, i felt the utter devastation from this film for WEEKS
Tumblr media
Amelie
If there was a film to define the term "whimsy" then this is it!! Its so creatively rich, with such a fun and sweet art style in the characters, the way its filmed, the music, the romance- it'll make your heart ache for days.
Tumblr media
Inglorious Basterds
I'm a big whore for Tarantino ever since Reservoir Dogs, but I consider film his ABSOLUTE masterpiece. The comedically distinct characters, the sharpness of dialogue, how he builds up the tension of scenes to the point of explosion with just a simple conversation- *CHEFS KISS*
Tumblr media
Children of Men
This dystopian sci fi drama was made in 2005 but with all the social commentary woven into the background of the story, it is eerily topical in today's tumultuous political & social climate (which is very telling about us as a society I suppose). The director Alfonso Cuaron is a master at "show don't tell" filmmaking and it SHOWS. Also the tracking long shots in this film are something to witnessed, beheld even. Masterpiece.
Tumblr media
Bridget Jones' Diary
My absolute FAV romantic comedy, i totally relate to this bumbling, epic disaster of a woman, even more so now that i'm 30+ like her. Fun fact, the plot is heavily inspired by Pride & Prejudice which is probably why i love it so much. Also Colin Firth 🥵 (which leads me to another fun fact- he was cast as Mark Darcy mainly due to the author's crush on him from his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 1996 BBC miniseries which put him on the map, and rightly so. I know the film adaption is super popular, but any P&P fan NEEDS to watch this version, so so good)
Tumblr media
Chicago
This musical ruined all theater musicals for me forever- the film adaptation is THAT good!!! The spectacle, the numbers, the PERFORMANCES- Catherine Zeta Jones slayed as Velma Kelly (also my ovaries), i love it so much that i watched it 3 times back to back on a flight i honestly couldnt get enough lol
Tumblr media
Kung Fu Hustle
This film is Stephen Chow's magnum opus- an action comedy that blends kung-fu and all sorts of historical chinese references and homages of the directors favorite films, you can tell the passion and the fun that went into making this film and it really REALLY shows. I consider this a perfect execution of what a live-action anime could be, this film is an absolute blast and classic
Tumblr media
Annihilation
I've got a bit of a cosmic/existential horror kink (where a form of media makes you question the world/life as we know it or triggers an existential crisis) and this film gets it RIGHT. It's a philosophical sci-fi thriller but is so much more with its themes of pain and identity, exploration of humanity's disposition for self destruction but also its unsettling visuals and soundtrack. Funny story, the sound design is so alien/unsettling that it spooked my cat from her nap and got her staring at the screen with wide eyes and an arched back trying to figure out what the eff was going on (me as well).
Also love how its an all female cast but its never mentioned in-film; just a bunch of capable women going to take care of business (i didnt even notice until my 2nd watch)- im a fan of this approach as it in effect "normalizes" this scenario whereas calling it out as if its special just highlights how it's an exception...anyway, its a horrifically beautiful film.
Tumblr media
Sicario
Denis Villeneuve can do no wrong in my eyes (nor cinematographer Roger Deakins), a beautifully shot thriller that serves as a social commentary on how laws are meant to be broken, lines are drawn and then erased when convenient, as long as it serves a so-called greater purpose, that keeping a moral code is a futile effort. Brilliant performed and written, nuanced characters, glorious cinematography and a killer soundtrack (RIP Johan Johansson), A+++++
alright sorry for the long rambling post, cant help myself! Tagging a bunch a folks that seem alive per my notifs, no pressure of course!!!

im becoming a fan bc of spiderverse and i love your blog <3 ive seen a couple wes anderson movies/scott pilgrim but are there any movies or shows you’d recommend? thank u!!
okay so fair warning, outside of the animated movies, the wes anderson ones, and spvtw, pretty much all jschwartz movies and shows are going to contain something mildly graphic at the least. usually it's weird sex which I think is awesome but I can't recommend viewing if you're a minor (most of my followers aren't tho so I'm not worried)
anyway, here are recs with my personal thoughts! (reading the little reviews is not mandatory but suggested? I guess if you want a better idea of what you're getting into)
Shopgirl (2005)
Besides Steve Martin's absolutely rancid performance, I'm actually a huge fan of this movie and I think it's so enjoyable. it's not a masterpiece, but there was clearly a lot of intent and thought put into the design choices and cinematography (I've written papers on the color symbolism!) and though the story isn't amazingly coherent because it was adapted from a much better written novella, it is still at least enjoyable. I love the atmosphere, and I think it's a very unconventional romance film that explores the unhealthy relationships that are glamorized in similar media as sexy and desirable (ray porter is a character that existed before, and yet still makes fun of toxic love interests like christian gray). and I like how it extremely accurately represents what it's like being a severely depressed lonely woman.
I'm inherently biased here because I watched this movie for the first time while I was in an abusive relationship and it still really resonates with me. most people luckily do not experience that so I'm a bit of an outlier here :')
2. I Heart Huckabees (2004)
I have no deeper reason for loving IHH I just find it delightful. it's weird, it's confusing, its kinda gross, it's shocking and you don't start understanding it unless you think about it really hard for a while. it's essentially a beginner's guide to different schools and concepts in philosophy, which I'm a big ol sucker for. lovely message that I believe is handled better than a lot of movies who go for the existentialism thing. not a fan of the director, but this movie is pretty enjoyable and leaves you with a lot to think about (if you're into that). LOVE the score.
3. Spun (2002)
INITIAL WARNING THIS MOVIE IS DISGUSTING. and I love it. it's so fun and experimental especially with the editing and cinematography, the pacing is insane, not to the mention the animation, the color correction, the everything... has one of the most amazingly satisfying closing shots in a movie, ever. but it's definitely not for the faint of heart, if you can't sit through watching someone snort meth off a urinal stall or a close up of someone injecting themselves with a needle, this is definitely not for you. (not to mention the sex, again).
4. Marie Antoinette (2006)
yayy finally an option that most people agree is good! unless you're French. I was almost named Antoinette after my French g-g-gma (got named after my French g-g-g-gpa Raymond instead), plus rococo is a huge interest of mine so I adore this movie. it was shot on location at Versailles, the costumes are GORGEOUS, and almost everything is accurate! it has a mixed classical-modern soundtrack and aesthetic that I find very effective in getting its message across. however I do tend to like this movie more than most because I know who everyone is and what's happening already! it's based on a biography by Antonia Frasier which is sitting next to me as I type this lol.
5. Funny People (2009)
HEAR ME OUT. OKAY. mark taylor jackson was my "ohhh shit this dude's hot" moment and this movie was The Beginning for me. YES, it's an Adam Sandler movie co-starring Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. AND YES. I FIND IT TO BE AN EFFECTIVE DRAMA. I don't like drama in film in general, I find most to be very unrealistic and unrelatable for me so I get bored easily, but I do think this weirdly works? I love how it's kind of an introspective look at Adam Sandler's career, with liberties taken, and the characters seem to actually have some chemistry and realism to them, even in the sillier moments. jason schwartzman is super cute. need I say more.
6. S1m0ne (2002)
ok, admittedly jason isn't in this one too much. and yet it's still worth mentioning because it's an insanely underrated and likeable movie! if anything al pacino is hot, and the entire premise is so unsettling and dystopian in an ACTUALLY WELL HANDLED sci-fi manner (good sci-fi concepts tend not to be "what ifs" but allegories for things that are actually happening already). S1m0ne is a criticism of hollywood, celebrity culture, and mass media, and it's genuinely just so creative to me. another contender for the best ending shot in cinema. ALSO, very pretty cinematography and a very fun early 2000s feel to it. the writer/director also wrote the Truman Show iirc!
7. Bored to Death
saving TV for last. let me tell you one thing! if you're looking for jason schwartzman at his best, you need to watch this show. it is so funny, so entertaining, and best of all, every character in it is so terrible and fucked up and it's wonderful. it's crazy, but grounded in reality, which makes it even crazier. jason schwartzman plays a hopeless romantic author who's boredom and disappointing love life lead him to becoming an "unlicensed private detective" who accepts jobs through craigslist. also there are zach galifianakis and ted danson, who play the two other main characters. the entire premise of the show is these three guys getting high and solving mysteries together and it's phenomenal. there's an actual episode where jason runs down the streets of brooklyn in full leather bdsm gear. there's an episode about furry sex. It's so weird and perverted and SUCH a good comedy noir(?) I can't not recommend it, despite having the worst fucking ending out of anything ever cause it got canceled.
tldr: I like bad movies
there are a ton more I could go ok about but these are the ones I personally enjoy the most. good luck

this is another 'this goes here so i don't scream at twitter' rant but
so im a huge horror fan. horror games, horror movies, horror novels - horror is my jam. and horror is more than jumpscares and 'cozy horror'. horror is frequently entirely in a character's psyche - in their actions. that's why shit like 'psycho' is a classic.
this month i have seen so many stupid, rancid takes on horror movies from people who are just genuinely incapable of understanding the meaning of a story unless it's spoonfed to them.
a few months ago i watched an analysis video on some game i truly do not care about for background noise and the whole thing was the person not... understanding that the disconnect between the player character and her environment was the entire point of the story. her denial was meant to be frustrating. as you go on you're supposed to realize she's so deeply, deeply in her delusional denial that she will ignore obvious evidence in front of her face and invent reasons why its wrong.
it was meant to be a story where someone refuses to acknowledge what is in front of their face.
but the essayist was. under the belief. that the game devs were explicitly condoning the bad thing that was done. they were calling them disgusting monsters, arguing that they were definitely pedophiles. i went from 'this is background noise' to stopping what i was doing to watch the actual gameplay and growing more, and more, and more concerned.
in this same video, the person admitted that they read lolita and did not realize that hh was meant to be the antagonist. they were unable to recognize his actions as monsterous because he was the narrator.
and BOY HOWDY that sure did NOT MAKE ME FEEL CONFIDENT IN THIS PERSON BEING ABLE TO UNDERSTAND MEDIA IN ANY CAPACITY that's like giant, waving red flags in 'I AM EASILY SWAYED BY PROPAGANDA BECAUSE I CANNOT THINK ON THE DEEPER REASONS I AM BEING SHOWN THINGS'
i see the horror discourse on twitter and i see rn that the big takeaway is "IF THE STORY IS NOT CONDEMNING THIS THEN IT'S GOOD" and i am sure as fuck realizing that due to funding being stripped from the education system we have a whole generation of people who cannot grasp a story more complex than an aesop's fable. Because the stories they’re citing DO condemn it, but no one is turning to the camera to lay it out for you.
god i hate it i hate the fact that people full on cannot grasp that portrayal doesn't equal condoning and EQUALLY DOES NOT EQUAL condoning in real life
the horror is meant to come from the character's being so psychologically broken that whatever aberrant behavior they're doing is. being done in the first place. your inability to understand common tropes is not the fault of the creator, its a failing in your education.

What other shows are you into, if any? 🥰
hi Ally <3
so besides MASH im into tons and tons!! ill just list some off the top of my head-
Cowboy Bebop: just finished rewatching this one, I wanted my dad to watch it. im a big anime fan, this one is high up on my list of favourites, its a classic! I even recommend it to non-anime fans because the gorgeous animation, compelling characters and story, and unique world building are just soooooooo good
Mob Psycho 100: hey. hey wanna watch something truly fucking bizarre and unique. wanna watch something that feels like going through therapy. want to cry your eyes out to the most unexpected anime dude of all time. boy do I have a show for you. MP100 makes me unreasonably emotional and I think everyone should watch it
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood: my favourite anime of all time nothing else comes even close. I could write an essay on why FMAB should be required viewing. I wish everyone could experience watching it as a kid and going back to it as an adult and having your entire perspective and understanding shift because suddenly youre older than the main characters and shit is so much more horrifying than when you were the same age/younger
Gargoyles: what im currently watching. also a big cartoon fan. Gargoyles is such a wonderful product of the mid-90s and I adore it. I grew up on 80s and 90s cartoon so everything from the lore to the character designs is very nostalgic to me. I need to watch the last season still but I keep putting it off cause I know the quality dips
Avatar the Last Airbender: next show im picking for my dad and I to watch. I unironically consider it to be one of the best stories ever written, with some fantastic characters and what continues to be one of my favourite redemption arcs of all time
Batman the Animated Series: best Batman. no question. I do not accept criticism. I did watch Justice League + Justice League Unlimited with my dad recently and I quite enjoyed those, but nowhere near as much as I enjoyed BtAS. Kevin Conroy I miss you every day nobody understood Bruce Wayne like you did
Doctor Who: both Classic and New Who. we have a free streaming service with a Classic Who channel, and we've had the DVDs for New Who playing lately. my favourite show of all time! meant the world to me as a teenager and got me through a lot. I have a tattoo of 11's sonic and bowtie <3
Smallville: my dad did a rewatch of this recently and I was around for most of it. and listen, ok, Smallville is a cringe fest a lot of the time. its an early 2000s CW show. but its ironically still my favourite depiction of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, and honestly probably my favourite Lois Lane
Star Trek: various Trek shows. TOS is currently playing a lot in the house, which I have seen all of and adore, but im also a huge TNG fan even though i. havent finished it. haha. Ive also seen most of Voyager and quite enjoyed it. at some point ill get to DS9 probably
The X-Files: another one I havent rewatched in years but think about often. X-Files truly had it all. not a day goes by that I dont think about Jose Chung's from Outer Space. this was the first show to make me physically grind my teeth and scream into a pillow over a slowburn
I have more but these are what I can remember off the top of my head and what I would rewatch! im big into shows and movies so I watch a lottttttt. shoutout to some other shows ive loved like Lucifer, the Mandalorian, Kenobi, Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Angel the Series, Schitt's Creek, The Owl House, Violet Evergarden, and others im sure im forgetting

i saw that a lot of your stories are inspired by films you watch and i love a good romance film so if you dont mind, what are your top 3?
i greatly apologize for having horrible memory 😭 there are so many that ive watched long ago but i can't remember them, i only vaguely remember small moments that i somehow stored in my brain LOL
if i had to choose three in no particular order:
howls moving castle (such a classic and i love it!)
20th century girl (sorta sobbed on this one but its very special to me)
tangled (I KNOW this is a simple disney princess movie but ive watched this countless times ever since i was young thinking ohh i want this moment during the boat lantern scene)
some other honorable mentions would be
i recently watched the live action of the little mermaid and ugh i adored it! they were so adorable and ariel is just so beautiful
theres also enola holmes! theres two movies and i enjoyed both! theyre both mainly about solving a mystery (which im a sucker for) but the side romance i believe is so cute and it was what inspired one of my hyunjae works!
and this would be so funny to say but the spiderman movies🥲 other than being a big fan, i absolutely love the small romance (whether they end in tragedy or not) in between. like the upside-down kiss i would love to write one day!
i did also used to avidly watch kdramas! ive had no time to watch anymore but my absolute favorite ones would have to be:
business proposal (full of cliches but i eat it up anytime. i would literally giggle in bed watching this and be like oh hyunjae would definitely do this)
twenty-five twenty-one (my absolute favorite, both the friendships and the romance! and the sports aspect! i adore it and have watched it over multiple times)
hometown cha-cha-cha (this one is just so simple but so cute. like a slight enemies to lovers and just SO adorable. if i could watch it again i definitely would)
i hope i somehow answered your question sweet sweet anon🥲 so sorry for my bad memory, i would have a better answer if i remembered TT

Tagged by @saltbind @seanwinchester @deanwinchesterpregnant @applecrumbledore @math-should-die, thank you all for tagging me! (and sorry if im missing anyone!)
Last Song: i got carried away answering this because i have a lot of thoughts okay SORRY. im a big kate bush fan and i've been listening to this kate bush tribute concert on repeat recently. its insane to hear her songs with like a whole orchestra performing them its INSANE okay its so good.
i wont forgive them for kinda fumbling whats probably my fave kate bush song (sat in your lap, which is a very frantic and all over the place type song. i have no idea what type of direction they were trying to go with for their version of it, but all of the charm and chaos of it is lost both in the way of the orchestral arrangement and the vocal performance) or the goofy vocal choices they make in hounds of love. my small grievances aside though, i do love a lot of the fun new directions they take a lot of the songs (their version of babooshka is so much fun) and i have straight up bawled to this concerts performance of this womans work before on multiple occasions (its at 21:10 if you care to cry with me)
you can also watch their performance of running up that hill here on yt bc i know thats like the only kate song ppl care about lol
Currently Watching: i just finished watching all of the twilight movies with my sister and i enjoyed them way more than i thought i would. i had so much fun watching them i understand the cultural hype behind them now.
Currently Reading: this is embarrassing but i dont read many actual novels. fic-wise i've been reading Brothers by Sera_Necto23 because i think josiah @/twochildreninamoteldemo mentioned it a bunch and yeah its good. also yeah no i totally forgot but i downloaded Brokeback Mountain a few days ago, loved the movie for ages and wanted to read the book for a while, ive only read like 5 pages so far but im looking forward to reading more
btw if anyone has book recs (especially horror and books featuring heavier topics) pls 🤲 id love to hear them! i feel very illiterate when it comes to books like i feel i havent read a lot of classics so feel free to rec ur fave most fucking basic high school book report books i promise theyll be like brand new to me
Current Obsession: god i dont know ive been feeling a little burnt out lately so i havent really been feeling #obsessed with anything aside from supernatural but im sure you already know that
Tagging: not tagging anyone because i think like all of my mutuals have been tagged already (im kinda late to this)

haha, I'm sorry for stressing you out.
I love extraordinary you too. I ended up still having some unanswered questions, but overall I enjoyed it so much. especially because haru is such a pretty boy. 🤧
omg, that is so exciting!! actually doom at your service is in my top 5, with strong woman do bong soon, melting me softly, descendants of the sun and maybe vagabond. some honorable mentions are hometown cha-cha-cha, may I help you, love in the moonlight and crash course in romance. now I see what I put you through, I'm so sorry.
then, what are some kdramas that you disliked. I've noticed a pattern in mine: those before 2010. I mean, I don't dislike them all (coffee prince is one that I enjoyed a lot), but for example full house or secret garden had me wanting to punch a wall most of the time.
— ☕️!
srsly why is it so stressful to choose fav dramas 😭 its like with movies or songs, theres too many to choose from!!
putting a read more bc i talked so much bahahha
and right omg i watched extraordinary you at the beginning of lockdown and i fell in love with haru/rowoon so bad that i started stanning sf9 after that, i was such a big fan of them that whole year hahahaha, and yeah it does have some plot holes but honestly the romance was so cute i didnt even mind
gosh we've seen such different dramas hahaha i havent seen any in your top 5! ofc ive heard about strong woman though, and thats also on my list. crash course in romance was so fun i rmb watching it as it came out and i really loved their romance but god the murder mystery side plot is not for me 😭 i dont usually mind a mix of genres but romance with thriller isnt my thing i guess, i like it better when they're seperate. and love in the moonlight omg i watched it ages ago, and actually i dont rmb anything about it so ig that tells you its def not one of my favs 😭 i usually love historical dramas but i think the female lead disguised as eunuch trope is not for me either !
and omg, i havent ever watched a drama from before 2010 actually, bc ive heard that theyre such a product of their time and have like really sexist/fatphobic etc undertones with like toxic male leads and plot lines that just drag on and on bahaha, coffee prince is such a classic though i should watch it!!
for me its pretty rare that i dont like a kdrama cause if im not into it then i'll just drop it and forget about it, but one that i did watch and hated til the end was cheese in the trap because the male lead in insaaaaaane literally a psychopath and the female lead (park goeun bless her heart) is so wishy-washy, worst case of second lead syndrome i ever got in my life!! im going through my watched kdramas, and a lot that ive seen i remember enjoying as i watched but they just didnt stick with me afterwards. i rmb being super frustrated with love alarm, nevertheless (but that one wins back points for incredible casting/side stories/overall vibes lol, im actually considering rewatching...) and itaewon class! then some that i fully stopped watching are love in contract, she would never know, arthdal chronicles, detectives of seonam girls' high school and hotel del luna. i also stopped watching goblin and tale of the nine-tailed around ep 10 but i do plan on picking them back up at some point lol

Is tbhk your fav manga? If not what is it?
I do love tbhk and it is among my fav manga when I see how much I talk about it ^^ I do have a fixation on it, but I know some manga I read had better written plots than tbhk :00
hmmmm my fav mangas :00 it is a hard question. I've read a lot of manga when I was a kid (the classics, like DB or One Piece) but I honestly don't have that much which stood out for me x')) especially because I have a really hard time with fan service and how female characters are written now ahah
And I like absurd humor as much as I like compicated plots too x’))
ANYWAYS
Mangas I adore since I am a kid
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doraemone my beloved (I have so many shirts and merch from this, it’s insane) and Keroro, which is so so stupid (there is a strange fanservice in Keroro? But honestly I didn’t see it when I was a kid ahah)
Doraemon is a really good manga for a kid, with super creative ideas and stupid interactions :D It is mostly for kids but it those two still have a special place for me dhskjds
I ADORE YOTSUBA
Tumblr media
I’ve been reading this manga since a really long time too and it is adorable and stupid I like it so much :DDD Yotsuba is adorable and a lot of my humor is coming from this manga tbh
The only series I am purchasing rn are tbhk, witch hat atelier and Heaven’s design team :DD
Tumblr media
Kamome Shirahama is an absolute queen dshdkjs and I adore the story, characters and the artstyle which is absolutely insane! This take on magic is everything! If I had to recommend a manga I would go for this one! I do know it is pretty popular but there is a reason dhskdhskj
Tumblr media
Heaven’s design team is so stupid and has no right being this pretty :DD If you want a cool manga to read, where you see designers having artblocks, the strangest ideas ever and stupid characters of all ages, while learning how animals work this is perfect :DDD
Tumblr media
Gokushufudou is the best manga if you wanna laugh a lot x’) The art has no reason being this good again and the concept is hilarous :DD
Tumblr media
Im great priest Imhotep have a special place in my heart :DD
Really basic shonen plot, but the characters are funny, the art is cool and there is a lot to learn about egyptian mythology ^^ (and I adore Makoto Morishita ahah she is so funny and talented)
Tumblr media
Land of the lustrous is amazing too! (I haven’t read it in a while, because of the hiatus but the art is dhskjdhsj) A really original concept with a lot of good plot twist and characters ^^
The anime is really cool to watch too
I really really like Jiro Taniguchi’s works! His writing style is really chill, not that much is happening, it’s just life in its simplest ways. And his water colors and drawings are insane, he is really good at doing backgrounds.
Tumblr media
(if you can check the animation movie ‘le sommet des dieux’ too which is one of his manga it is incredible dshjds)
I really like the manga for Nausicaa. More violent and with deeper meaning than the movie (which I absolutely adore) and you can appreciate Miyazaki’s manga art :DDD
Tumblr media
I am a big fan of Naoki Urasawa’s works too :DDD
Tumblr media
I am reading 20th century boys rn But I really liked Pluto and Monster :DDD (Ig there are some triggers for these mangas? idk) I used to read astroboy as kid so his darker take on it is really nice to see :DDD and the plots are really greatly written, it is even hard sometimes to follow what’s happening :’DD
And that’s all I guess for now? :00 Nothing else is coming to mind ahah
I’ve been reading some others mangas as SpyxFamily for example but those are more famous ^^
Anyways! Thanks for the question anon :’DD and sorry If I rambled again dshjds

Disney Corporation: Nostalgia and they consistently put out enjoyable if not amazing work. Dune: popular scifi novel from the 80s and nerds love to get weirdly obsessive over scifi. MCU: A mix of comic book fans near the start with from what I've heard some good films followed by sunk cost fallacy. Dark Souls: A mix of openworld nonlinearity in an RPG and you know that thing when you keep failing at something repeatedly but then finally succeed and it feels like a million orgasms? That.
In hindsight my question was both about my own reaction (not getting it), and fans reaction both in positive sense (fawning over them, being protective of them) and negative sense (hating change). And you managed to answer all of em, so well done.
Ill explain each for the viewers at home.
DISNEY :
As a child and teen Disney didnt play much of a role in my life. I mean i did watch the movies and the occasional tv show, but not much else, and I cant really say i was a big fan even at a young age, and I really never bought into the whole Disney "Magic" idea. By contrast I was a big fan of things like Power Rangers, The Addams Family, Medabots, Pokémon, and Warner Brothers (as my dad jokingly says, we're a warner brothers household not a Disney household) , which at one point actually led to me calling my parents Father and Mother, despite not being raised that way 😅. Though it didnt help that even at a young age I viewed Disney as very much a young kid/pastel suburban thing (If youve watched the addams family movies youll know what I mean), and adults into Disney as more than a bit wierd, so that might be part of the reason why I never gravitated to it.
But i do understand the appeal. I mean a company that relies on Nostalgia is basically trying to sell you things you associate with the good parts of your childhood. So naturally if youre a fan of it, youd want the company to chanfe the products as little as possible, to preserve the memory.
DUNE
I was never into sci fi novels, so naturally Dune wasnt something I read. Also im not into noble focused stories like War and Peace, so Dune with its focus on nobility doesnt appeal to me.
But now I get it. Sci Fi stories which were once popular are considered classics, and as a result are generally treated with much more respect and admiration than they might deserve.
MCU
Honestly I like stories with a beginning, middle, and end. So western comic books dont appeal to me, which explains why im not into the MCU.
Sunk cost fallacy as an explanation..... yeah that fits. I mean its the only thing that explans why way to many people watch them even after its clear that theyre burning piles of garbage wrapped in mouse shapped turds.
DARK SOULS
I can only do so much of that FAILING A MILLION TIMES BEFORE SUCCEEDING, before i get bored and look for something else. Besides the look, lore, and feel of the games just doesnt appeal to me. Fable however does.
That said I do understand that feeling, and now i get why fans of it are so against lower difficulty, because that would risk the loss of the very high they get from being beaten a million times before succeeding

i have an idea but im probably never gonna finish what i started writing (we'll see ;-;) and i also wanna talk ab it so im back!!
u know that book "they both die at the end"? (idk if u do thats why im asking, but imma explain it anyway) basically theres a company called Death-Cast, and when they call you, sometime in the next twenty four hours you die. Theres also an app called Last Friends, which you can download on ur last day if uve got no one to spend it with. anyway, peter downloads the app and sees tony stark on the app (it's like 2am, not many ppl r up, so peters like "yeah, screw it, right? last day and all that" and sends a text like "read some of ur work! big fan :)" and tony sees it and is like "smol child??? last day??? no friends?" so he decides to talk to peter some more, and they meet up, cuz peters been wandering around all his favorite childhood spots and happens to be near the tower. they do all this weird cool stuff they thought they never had time for, like those skydiving simulator things, and stopping by their favorite food shops (i think in the book its explained that some places r open for people who get their calls late at night, like tony and peter did), and tony takes peter back to the tower, where they play in the lab and watch their favorite movies.
i have several ideas ab their deaths, including:
peter convinces tony to take him for a test run in the ironman suit, and it malfunctions, or smth, and peter slips, and tony fails to catch him (v morbid tho lmao), some of the classics, poisoned food, mugging, all that stuff, maybe something goes wrong in the lab, like an explosion or a toxin gets released from something getting mixed, but for the most part, its just two boys spending their last day together, and like the title, dying at the end
anyways, the book is rly sad but i thought it was good soooo (also not me at the end when they die like ":0 what?? theyre dead??? who could've seen this coming??")
ooof I have not read that book but it sounds way tragic and beautiful, and I can totally see why you thought of our two idiots for an AU!

WAIT WAIT WAIT I have a good one ☕️- Jamie Lee Curtis and maybe I’ll wake up tomorrow and wonder why the hell i thought this was interesting but right now it’s a very pressing question - letterboxd anon
hmmm my suspicion is bc of eeaao but thats just a theory!! here are my just woke up thots
i kinda grew up on jlc ngl! i watched true lies, a fish called wanda, and freaky friday A Lot as a kid. i hadnt seen halloween until this past year (forgive me) but thought she was great in that too, and i really liked her in knives out. i think those are the only movies of hers I've seen? hearing her talk loudly and openly about her life with addiction/sobriety is also really cool as a sober addict myself, i was like oh!!! hey!!! her daughter is trans which is not About Her but its always nice to see famous people doing the absolute bare fucking minimum and being vocal/visible about gender and whatever. the bar is on the floor!!!
she is also undoubtedly an entitled nepotism baby. like her dad is tony curtis. Tony Curtis. shes a classic sheltered (not sure if thats the right term?) cishet hollywood white feminist who is iirc pro police and pro establishment bc she benefits from and is protected by both. i havent watched eeaao so cant really share a founded opinion on her performance or oscar win, aside from a general side eye of racial inequality and what I've heard about hsu's character in the film vs curtis'.
im not a big fan of stuff like 'this celebrity/public figure/influencer is Good or Bad' discussions bc people is people so idk if this is the kind of answer you were hoping for but!!! here u go
send me ☕️ + [topic] and i’ll tell you my opinion on it!
