the comparison between rileys ultimatum and spikes ultimatum is so fascinating to me.
riley told buffy i need you to show me that you love me or else ill leave. he wanted some big display of affection, since clearly how she normally showed her love wasnt enough, the issues he had in their relationship being that he felt that she didnt love him (before he lost his powers, before she learned her sister wasnt really her sister) and that she didnt need him (to protect her, to help her, to care for her). his ultimatum was selfish, focused on him, and when push came to shove he followed thru. if he loved buffy the way he claimed he wouldve stayed, sat somewhere off to the side watching the helicopter take off, knowing that losing buffy was worse to him that losing his job opportunity
spike gave her a similar ultimatum, i need you to tell me that there might be something there. that if we were to work at this you might, maybe feel the same way about me, or else ill let my love of the past 100+ years kill you. hes desperate for a sliver of hope to keep him going, and when she squashes it completely, tells him that the only chance theyd have to be together is if he took advantage of her while she was unconscious (to his horror), he still doesnt follow through. he protects her from drusilla, even if he fails to stake her like he said hed do to prove his love to buffy. when push came to shove he cared for buffy too much to let her die even if she would never love him back the same way

hi maca!! can’t believe hiuh finally ended, thank you for all your hard work! i was wondering if you could say more about what were the “wrong aspects” that laurent liked about maxime? also very curious in general about what paschal thought about laurent being with maxime or getting back together with damen. thanks!!
hi there!!! so, i didn't write maxime as a villain or anything in this fic so I don't want anyone reading this to think that he's Mr. Evil or a literal step-in for Laurent's uncle.
having said that, I love the idea of maxime toeing the line, you know? like he's not abusive but he's not attentive either. he's Into the Patriarchy (TM) in a different way than Damen, so not only does he not think to ask what laurent likes in bed or what his limits are, but he also has a rougher approach to sex (think typical porn video titles, "likes it rough" vibes, maaaaybe refuses to wear a condom like nicaise implied throughout the fic and laurent never denied).
so the "wrong" aspects laurent might have liked about maxime have to do with not having to really think around him (not bc l's being vulnerable, but bc he just disconnects and dissociates from the entire situation.) see: they go out for dinner, he doesn't even have to pick a place bc maxime will do it, doesn't have to pick a dish bc maxime will do it, doesn't have to think about sex positions bc maxime will just jostle them both into what he likes, etc. aaaand last but not least, laurent likes that it hurts. it's a form of self punishment, too. "you THOUGHT you could have nice things? you thought sex with people who aren't damen was going to be good? ha" and, later on, when he starts realizing damen is changing and getting better every day and growing, it turns into "this is your reminder that you fucked up".
: ) hope this was interesting to read!!!! thank you sm for the question!!!!

I felt very very uncomfortable on Rae's behalf every time "fingergate" came up, and this is on their Instagram under their "FAQ" and basically backs up the feelings of discomfort and feeling bad for Rae I had.
Before that night every time Vanessa alluded to them hooking up Rae would awkwardly redirect the conversation, I realise it's a grey area when both people are drinking (presumably Vanessa was also very drunk when this happened) but I definitely feel like Rae was too drunk to consent to sex. There's even a clip of her in the show that to me comes across as her trying to reassure herself that she "did consent", even though that hadn't been questioned, which to me feels like her trying to process what happened and convince that she doesn't have the "right" to feel uncomfortable about it.
I'm not surprised she and Lexi ended up breaking up, it doesn't feel like there was any space for her to healthily process what happened with Vanessa because Lexi was just too focused on her own hurt (which is understandable but doesn't make for a great start to a marriage).
I can't say without a lot more context (re: how drunk Vanessa was) if Vanessa is 100% at fault (although I have a strong suspicion), but sex can be traumatic even if you technically consented to it, and I really hope Rae heals from it (she also mentions on her story that she has a therapist so I'm glad she has space to process!).
I'm surprised the show didn't include more signposting to resources regarding sexual assault, substance abuse, and domestic abuse, to me it feels really irresponsible that they showed us so many examples of relationships with very severe issues without really commenting on it at all.

So I don't like, actually ship anyone from Idolish7 aside from yukimomo. I respect the Mezzo shippers, but I'm on the fence about it; I think they make a really nice platonic pair and I'm not really sure how I feel about viewing that in a romantic light. I see it, I get it, I'm on the fence.
BUT I could fully see Pythagoras in a QPR together. Nothing sexual about it at all, but they all just sort of come together and support each other in a way that probably makes others squint at them in confusion. You'll find them cuddled up together on the couch or in someone's bed because "it helps Nagi sleep". Know what brand of toothpaste and coffee and tissues the others prefer, makes sure to bring that home whenever they're running low. They go to each other first for comfort when something goes wrong, Mitsuki sneaks little memos into their lunches, Yamato brings home little gifts every time he goes out.
Anybody Yamato or Nagi dates learns really quick that they must be okay with the qpr trio or they will not be asked out again. Pythagoras comes first

Ultimatum got me thinking (As it often does) and now I'm wondering about like... the process? Of becoming the ferryman? Like the lead up to it. All the preparation that we don't get to see.
We know a few things from what we see, Du'met made a recording of Joseph Morello to show the next victims (Kate and Mark) so I assume he did the same with Mark? But what else with him like... surely there would be some form of rehearsal for the whole situation so he can put up a convincing act? There's also a recording of Morello's voice acting as Du'met so I assume he did the same with Mark too.
And as for Kate is she just stashed away in a room somewhere?
Kinda wish we got to see all of that like now I'm intrigued on just how much preparation there is beforehand. And obviously Du'met has to reset traps and all that too before the next group arrives. How long does this all take?
I'm overthinking it but like... it's interesting to me shush
