life update!!

i finally have some free time and havent properly posted something in so long so i thought id write up something!

first of all i want to say that ive successfully fixed my bingewatch problem in late january!! i hate to say it, but seeing how many movies i saw last year in my letterboxd wrapped really concerned me 🫤 i wanted to make an effort to make use of my time properly (after starting a new job and all) and i thought i wont let myself waste time bingeing horrible b-movies just so i can bump up the percent watched in someones filmography (its kinda tricky doing it so i made a resolution to only watch movies which interests me if i want to see more of someone)

with that said, i ended up not watching anything on weekdays and eventually think that staring at my phone for more than an hour wasnt my thing anymore (at least in the context of doing it EVERYDAY). so that may be one of the reasons why the turnaround for my hyperfixations got slower (which i think is good!).

ALSO, i do want to mention that because ive been watching less films recently i initially thought it would be great for my gif making hobby since i wont feel the pressure of wanting to gif so many movies at one sitting. i tried this in early feb and.. well... lets just say that it takes time for my very old laptop to make gifs (i had it since college during the pandemic so it was really used!). i only screen record scenes i want to gif because i hate having to wait to download AND even if i had hq clips it would take my laptop so long to render. so making something lq and having to wait 30mins just for a single gif wasnt doing it for me (bcs i said i wanted to make more use of my time).. so thats the reason why i havent posted anything lately (I REALLY REALLY wanted to make a gifset of josh whitehouse in valley girl but the quality just ended up stressing me 🫠)

and for my last update, as u can tell from my reblogs on queue, i just saw daisy jones and the six and LOVE josh whitehouse and he really got me playing the guitar again 😭😭 (i still think its a miracle!!!). ive been practicing some old pieces i used to perform when i was in high school during my 5-9's and i just had a bizzare idea of getting into the piano. i only ever played classical before, so i always had a problem doing improvs. i spent some time looking at videos on youtube and found out improvs on the piano were waay easier to play and understand, so im gonna buy a keyboard very very soon (which im so excited for)!!!! learning how to do jazz improvs on keys would probably be my new hobby and making gifs would probably be back until i get a new laptop (which at the moment is very low priority 🥲)

THEN i found out he has a new movie coming up with...

malcolm mcrae: ngl his pretty face caught my eye (special shoutout to anya! literally the power couple)... my first thoughts were like 'ohh i wonder what his character is like in triton'. but then i found out hes in a band SO i was thinking ok hes in a movie w josh so theres probably gonna be something music in it. i then looked up his band and love their songs!! theyre only a duo which i think is p strong (u dont need that many ppl in a band rly!) and i watched some interviews they had too!

KANE RITCHOTTE: my babygirl. my darling. idk what to say abt him. his songs with malcolm are always so magical. ive been playing gods in the details on repeat since early feb. hes my favorite more* member. the literal musical god. im praying hell sing more songs. ALSO i was suprised he did a cameo in daisy jones and the six with malcolm (they were the one who taught some of them how to play their instruments!! i was in awe bcs malcolm was the literal billy dune. LIKE sam claflin really copied his playing style which is so neat!!)

this was probably my lest favourite from the album it just didn't make me feel any kind of way. is it a bad song by any means ? no I think its fun and the storyline of the song is rlly interesting in the whole depicting the perspective of the most toxic boyfriend and playing it in a way that ridicules him but musically it just wasn't my style as much as the other tracks were

this song reminds me of something and I DONT KNOW WHAT IT ISSSSSSSS. maybe its something 90s early 2000s but I cant figure it out. parts of the album have very britpop or like 90s rock vibes anyway the lil 'im about to make u feel' then straight into the guitars gets me pumped and I love it

big fan of the instrmentals and when dam shouts when he sings bt its just nit my fave from the album. I do love the dichotomy of the music and the lyrics and Thomas played w that guitar solo

obsessed. very 90s britpop. the rawness the emotion behind it the fact that he was drnk when they recorded it the frustration with the sneering and snobbery of people post Eurovision the references to everything that happened over those weeks the 'eat my shit' at the end. its powerful what does it mean to be cool why is there so much pressure on people to look and act a certain way why do we have all these preconceived notions on people based on everything down to the music they listen to . I love it .

the storyline of this song is so interesting in its awareness of appreciating the things you have and what's around you and appreciating the little things and I can see this being phenomenal on stage and being recognised worldwide . I like faster paced songs but I love this song and I think the way it all builds and comes to a climax at the end is gorgeous before it slows down again for damiano and vic to all it all together. brilliant

i saw modest mouse last night at the 9:30 club for their lonesome crowded west tour and it was SO so so good. this is my second time seeing them (once before at the merriweather in like ‘16 or ‘17 which was good, but also one of those big production spectacles and ive since just learned personally i only really like small club type shows, and 9:30 club is just like. My perfect venue between the size and the fact DC is only an hour and a half away in traffic tops lol) and it was just. mwah. chef’s kiss. I was kind of worried cause id been seeing things on reddit that issac Brock was sick of the album by now and was very clearly not into it but he was SUPER into it last night to the point he was hoarse by his last song and he even was giving out handshakes to people at the front of the crowd end. they played positive and negative for the encore. brock hit a water bottle w his guitar. he screamed into his guitar and played into the amp it was just. Much in the same way that the lyrics to The Beatles' "Glass Onion" acknowledged with a nod and a reluctant wink the gnostic cult of Paul-is-Dead, the packaging of Led Zeppelin's Presence acknowledged the I'm sure at-least-somewhat-discomfitting fact that their group had long since become the most humongous rock band in the world.

By the time of The White Album, and by the time of Presence, respectively, things had gotten to the point where expedience was no longer expedient. The Beatles had tried not to feed the conspiracy theorists, and Zeppelin--modest at least in this one regard--had stayed away from licensing lunchboxes and appearances on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. But at a certain point, things get so big, and so plain, that they become the elephant in the room.

Presence seems to be Zep's acceptance of their own status (beyond even their own control) as Big Dumb Object, an enormous artifact of unfathomable consequence.

That's dumb as in "incapable of speech," not as in "stupid," just so we're straight. But since we're there, let me note that Presence perhaps more than any Zeppelin album save II demonstrates that a certain amount of stoopidity is unavoidable or even desired if you're going to play the cock-rock game.

Plant's lyrics to "Achilles" reference some etching or the other of William Blake's, so my point is not to disparage Zeppelin's obvious operational intelligence. Still, Zeppelin were all about contrast: I dare you to check out the live video from '77, and tell me that Plant's suggestive mannerisms as he sings the band's 11-minute epic aren't a little stoopid . . . .

Ah, but I digress, 'cause the key concept here is not "Dumb" but "Big." Think thunder. Think "Hammer of the Gods," if that helps.

After four albums where at least part of the idea had been to leaven the heaviness with keyboards or acoustic instruments, Presence was a return to the undiluted bombast of the second album. Guitar bass drums voice recorded in a mere 18 days--not necessarily simple, but certainly direct.

The instrumental contrasts that for good or ill had been there on III, IV, Houses of the Holy, and Physical Graffiti were absent on the band's seventh album--and maybe that's why it's long been their least popular. Funny thought, that: maybe Zeppelin were so goddamned popular not because of the parts that rocked, but because of the parts that didn't!

I don't want to go overboard, however. I don't want to make it sound as if Presence were a piece of the nascent pub rock of the time, because the very first track belies that. "Achilles" is the third longest studio track for the band and features perhaps Page's most intricate guitar orchestration, with as many as 12 overdubs. It's routinely described as proggy, or even Yes-like (and if you don't believe that, consider that Dream Theater is one of the many acts who have covered the song). And note that Jonesy is playing an eight-string bass.

Leave it to this band of contrasts to feature a 10-1/2 minute song about a Greek demigod with painstakingly multitracked guitars on their back-to-basics record . . . Presence is perhaps Led Zeppelin's most misunderstood album, but for Page Plant Jones & Bonham, that may have been The Object all along.

I just wanted to talk about this album

1. OK. I did not enjoy majority of this song. From the snippet posted to Instagram I was scared going into to the album thinking this was going to be the mood and feeling for the entirety of the project. I do like the chorus of this song especially the “I’m gonna do it anyway” at 0:55 and 1:46

2. You Thought. I love the 25 seconds of pure instrumental as the intro. The first verse didn’t catch my attention but the beat switch and melody of the second half made the song for me especially when the ft (Janelle Monaé) has this short and sweet help with the chorus really elevates the song for me

3. UUHH. I remember seeing the snippet for this song and it sounded good to me and then he came in with this signing like bridge or whatever it’s called and I was like the vocals!?! Hello. Really really nice and pleasant to my ears. After that though the song didn’t make it to my everyday playlist. Love all the signing in it

4. Sweet. THIS WAS THE SONG I WAS MOST EXCITED. Sadly I was wanting more Teezo on this kind of beat. Not the biggest Fousheé fan but this was nice. Really disappointed that Teezo didn’t get back into this cause I would’ve loved it. Mad the joke that this is a Fousheé song ft. Teezo

I absolutely loved the intro instrumentals because lately ive been obsessed with the feeling of 2008 underground indie skater vibe and to me that intro was exactly that and definitely scratched that itch that ive had. though the lyrics may be a lil goofy and corny still a song i enjoyed because the beat provided a satisfying sound that is very simple and modern

6. Neighborhood. This is a song that made it onto my everyday playlist. not at all what I was expecting from the snippet posted on instagram but boy am i still very happy with this song. I love love the synchronized "neighbor" exclamation for the chorus. very nice song.

7. Mood Swings. HELLO WHAT. THIS SONG FUCKING BLINDSIDED ME SO BAD. the first note started playing and my jaw dropped. the chorus so uplifting and filled with energy. super funky song with a weird lil tone shift for like 20 secs but this did not ruin the song for me. also made it to my everyday playlist

8. Too Easy. I love the anthem arena scream back and when Teezo does that almost high pitch out of breath verse was very pleasing and the super simple but intense drum beat is very addictive. i catch myself playing the air drum set. and out of nowhere the whole song flips with a slow mellow kind of lovey r&b sound that I love. Teezo coming again with the vocals signing and giving a nostalgic sound.

9. Familiarity. I milked this song when it first came out as a single so its kinda bleh to me as of right now but when first intially realesad i was playing this a lot. one of few stories i can kind of relate to especially when Teezo opens with "im over worked, and under paid" hits a home for me. sounds good to me. i really don’t know how to put into words why i like it.

10. I don’t think U C me. This song has been my repeat since it came out. The snippet posted to instagram was just Isaiah Rusk verse so i was expecting that kind of sound throughout the entirety of the song but the tone shifted into this nice warm guitar jumping in and teezo starting to sing and i was very obsessed with the way he was signing on this track and i kept being pulled in by the short verse teezo had in this song. Probably my favorite. Definitely the most played off the album.

11. Daddy Mama Drama. It starts with a lil guitar riff with teezo just signing on this track and at first I wasn’t to into it. You know yeah it’s nice but it suddenly has a heavy guitar and only I can describe it as a slightly like metal kind of guitar chord and teezo screaming and then the rest of the song now has added heavy guitar for a second and BOOM it slows down and mellows out and starts the second portion of the song. I really enjoy the repeated “playa playa” and LOVE the vocalist in the song with teezo kind of chanting with the same slightly metal guitar and a distant hollow synth I believe in the background of the beat ending it out with a short guitar solo. This song started to grow on me shortly after.

12. Nu Nay. I don’t know how to describe the sound other than like space sounding. Teezo starts to rap with a very nice flow and saying some of the wildest things. Talking about the club and how outdated it is also hitting us with “Party pooper don’t forget to wipe” is one of the craziest lines ever. It’s a very short track and easy. I really like that at 1:03 teezo goes “oooow” and all of those kind of ad libs thrown in there were a really nice touch and my favorite part of the song. Kinda funky and bumpin.

13. Stranger. This song has a bit of twang and country/indie kind of sound. Teezo goes on to sing very slowly and calmly for the rest of the song. There’s a slight change in the song and teezo kind of revs the song and starts going a lil louder for a second and then like fizzles out ending the song. I wasn’t big on this one

14. The Original Was Better. This being the outro song I had no idea what was gonna happen. Starts with a nice guitar riff with Teezo signing per usual. Busts out a lil yodel and then goes quiet for a second letting the guitar pick it up for a second. Teezo comes back and starts a lil rap and the guitar following the flow in which teezo is rapping. Then clapping in the background appear and start to get louder and louder and out of NOWHERE you get hit with this drop lead up and the beat drops transitioning into a full EDM segment in this song for a solid 30 seconds. Cuts off and it goes back to teezo yodelling thus ending the song and the conclusion to the album.

I really enjoyed this project a lot. Had a lot of replay factor for me. Definitely top 10 album FOR me this year. Supper fun and I enjoyed a lot out of this. The singles leading up to the album could be argued that are better than a lot of songs of the album. And I would agree. There are moments in the album that didn’t hit, sounded goofy but over all in my personal experience enjoyed a lot of it. I was listening to a lot of teezo ft out at the time in preparation for this album and I just Can’t wait to see what happens next.

It's been a really long day

So, I think we have my curriculum sorted out for next year, just going to purchase next year due to the one year access code. Surprisingly a lot of it is going to be a continuation from what I had back at public school. It's going to be interesting to see what the online tools look like because we never used them back at school.

So, my subject list is going to be: English, Maths 10A, Science, History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship, Economics & Business, Religion, Health & Physical Education, Child Studies (for obvious reasons), Digital Technology, Food Technology, Theory of Music 4, Cello 4, Piano 4, Acoustic Guitar 4, Musical Theatre 2, German, and Latin.

I know it looks like a lot, but it actually really is not. Though Cello 4, Piano 4, and Acoustic Guitar 4 might not come to fruition given that the baby bump might make it harder to play the instruments, but I personally have no problem having those extended to next year if the need arises, especially since they are non compulsory and it shouldn't impact the reporting too much (especially when explained why). The only one that might is Physical Education as, given it is compulsory, I do need to show I meet the standards, though I hope I get some leniency with the pregnancy, especially since I am already a fairly active kid and will be working on the health component at least.

Fortunately, Child Studies isn't actually a class option in grade 10 here (only in NSW), so it isn't actually going to be counted in my reporting. Anyways, between the antenatal classes and than the practical experience of taking care of my own baby, I should be fine. Especially since my mum is kind of forcing it to be in the pile in order to make sure I actually do put in time to study how to take care of a baby.

Now, mum is probably going to get a lot of additional resources to use, especially once we knuckle down what is involved in each subject, but this is the general idea of what my homeschool year will look like. I will eventually add in another textbook (horay) based on what TAFE course I want to study in 2024, but that is a discussion for later in 2023.

So doing this random journal again. It’s been awhile since I’ve written or talked to myself. Anyways, lately has been a rollercoaster ride for me. Dad’s bypass operation, my stressful birthday, missing my biggest stan’s “Taylor Swift” album launch, etc.

I dont know if I am for any fandom whatsoever, but as long as I can remember, Ive been a swiftie all throughout my life. I remember first hearing her songs back in 2006/2007, I was just a college student then dreaming of making a dent in this world. You know, I came from one of the top universities here in the Philippines so I was a bit full rather fool of myself.

She went here for her fearless album, but i was dead broke that time. Also, I didn’t have any support “fandom” friends with me. All of my friends are either, so-so with her or just freaking against her. 😂 well, i am still in that shit till now.

Kanye west incident, was angry as hell. I remeber rubbing the topic to my friends even though they didnt like it. I was connecting it to women power and artists equality. Like fellow artist should you know support each other. I know the feeling since I used to write my own songs and play it on my guitar when I was 13 years old. It just so happened that, that dream is something that the society here deemed impossible to achieve.

Red album was released and she also had a schedule here. I was a budding analyst and I was actually in the ticketnet website or whatever looking at the ticket prices fucking 2000 pesos for gen admission. I thought to myself that, damn. I would also need to pass this one. (Though looking back, i should have just used my mom’s credit card and worked my ass off to have it paid).

Fell of the radar for the next years or so… sadly when taylor started having model friends. I’m nowhere near their stature, im fat, im nerdy, im boyish, and im a geek. How on earth could I connect with them? Though, id still be looking back and forth from afar, this is also the time I had a gf, but unfortunately she doesnt like taylor as well. I’m bisexual by the way.

When 1989 came out, i was secretly wishing for a concert here in Manila. I really wanted to bring my then gf there and introduce taylor to her. But it didn’t happen. 😔

It was also the time that taylor was with KK, and a bunch of hotties like calvin, tom, alwyn. And I was like. “Whoaw, mom your so active all around the place. I will never ever be able to reach you.” Well I was secretly rooting/shipping kaylor because I was also in that phase during that time frame 🥲🫠

Fast forward to reputation, damn that album blew me away. It was my break up album. Well, not necessary that it’s a break-up album but I was listening to it endlessly to numb myself. I was eyeing to watch it in US coz I was supposed to go there in that certain tour dates for my business trip. Lo and behold, my business trip was rescheduled and what I did was just to visit an empty stadium and try to breathe in the essense of whatever is left in there. Hahahaha

Lovers is a mixed album for me. I mean I love it but confuses me all the time. I am no decypher queen type of fan. I think im just a creative and intellectual one. Its a declaration of love but im feeling a sense of lgbtq+ vibes to it. Tbh, i really thought Taylor was going to out herself. Hahahaha. Well, i dint care about that but lol, it was just my thought.

Miss Americana!!! This one blew me out. Personally, i have been an activist in all of my social media accounts. As I said earlier, i graduated from one of the top university here in our country and it is also a national university, so technically i have been programmed to think radically against any form of facism, unequality, racism, genderlect and everything. This film blew me away. It rekindled my connection with Taylor. I was so proud of her. I always thought her as someone who is a rockstar but not an activist. Well there are some hardcore feminist lines in her song but as a fellow feminist and activist, this really like “Mom, please hug me. I wanna be with you again” moment.

I was so sure that i will see Taylor but pandemic happened. I was a holy fucking mess. I was able to get into folklore, but damn i was a ghost for like evermore, fearless, red, and sadly midnight (which i am catching up), honestly, midnight released me from my voidness. It pulled me again here in this world. Everyone’s telling that this a dark album, but i actually dont care. I can relate to this. It’s like telling me that hey, there is this patriarchal shit going on, anxieties, over thinking, tunnel vision shits that fell through, but you will still be here. Live the hell that you want, even with a blood stained dress, love the hell that you want even you dont want to marry, forgive yourself for being the anti-hero, forgive that kid. Forgive that kid, let this all loose and celebrate, live, you’re on your own, kid. Your gonna be fine.
