I really appreciate how the animation is shot as if Yuu is going around taking pictures for the yearbook. This is a detail that is hardly (if ever) touched upon in the main story, so I like that the animation calls attention to that. It really helps sell the idea that Yuu is making lots of happy memories with their NRC classmates.

Another detail that’s really great here is the staff inclusion!! They weren’t really shown prominently, but we still get some shots of them (which is more than I can say about last year’s anniversary animation), and even some close ups (Trein and Crowley), which is great! More staff rep! More staff love!!

#240: Joci Pápai - Az én apám (Hungary 2019)

If there's anything I love at Eurovision, is when someone sings a song from their soul. And in both of Joci's entries, he does just that.

Az en apam is a bit more sedate than his first entry (which will come soon enough), but it's calming and serene with substance. The lyrics, talking about his relationship with his father, is a touching and poetic tribute, one that people should really speak to their loved ones that care about them.

It's just a shame this song was the one to break Hungary's impressive qualifying streak; I thought they were on a path to win soon (though not with this one...). And they left the contest too; hopefully they will steer the ship back to more open waters and come back.

#239: Anna Vissi -- Mono i Agapi (Cyprus 1982)

"Our life passes by, and whatever leaves, we’re in pain It doesn’t come back, but something holds us together"

In most cases, the first entry somebody has sent in the contest is their best, with a number of exceptions here and there. Anna is one of them; I never liked her first entry, but her other two are fantastic.

Mono i agapi is quite lyrically simplistic--it talks about how love remains between two people, as the world changes around them. But the melody has a very loungy sound--I've heard it being compared to a James Bond theme. While I don't hear why it would be the case (other than the alluring mystery of this piece), it does give a calming vibe, and stands out in the rather mediocre field in 1982.

#238: Yardena Arazi -- Ben Adam (Israel 1988)

“A human being is only flesh and blood, Dust flying in the desert A human being, in the way of the world Like a passing shadow, like broken pottery"

Yardena's time at Eurovision 1988 is best known for the anecdote where she goes to a fortune teller who said that song #9 would win that contest. When the draw occurred, Israel was slotted into that place, but was shafted up to #8 when Cyprus withdrew from having an already-released song. #9 would go to Ne Partez Pas Sans moi, which would end up winning and make history thanks to its singer.

This ends up taking away from the song itself; Ben Adam is reminiscent of older folk songs, but it takes off with its own character and flair. I also love the lyrics, which recognizes humans as flawed, without berating them as such. (We need a little bit more of that in the internet world, haha)

The flurry towards the end of the song was well-executed too, and the instrumentation is just fantastic. It feels like one was in a festival!

#237: Amandine Bourgeois -- L'enfer et moi (France 2013)

“Tu m’as fait pleurer à vif Mon cou porte encore ta griffe J’aimais échanger de peau”

“You made me cry a lot You can still see your mark on my neck I used to like exchanging skin”

I love the dark sensuality of this song—with its blues influences, it tells a story of a relationship gone awry, but does so with sophistication. It starts out with a slick guitar line, which later devolves into a full on outrage against the lover at question.

The harshness of this song probably clashed with its opening spot, which is why it’s so underrated. Or it was because of Amandine’s styling...

Either way, it has grown on me since I watched the 2013 contest, and it gets the right vibes going...except with the lyrical story...

#236: Ambasadori -- Ne mogu skriti svoju bol (Yugoslavia 1976)

"Ne molim da se vratiš Al’ molim te da pamtiš Voljela tebe samo sam ja”

“I’m not begging you to come back But please remember I only loved you”

Ambasadori was one of Yugoslavia's biggest groups, and they have a long list of who's who in the Bosnia music scene. I'm not familiar with their other music, but Ne mogu skriti svoju bol definitely highlights their artistry, along with the dark-pop take Yugoslavia had in 1970s Eurovision.

This song was initally my fifth place of 1976, but it has steadily grown until it became my fourth (knocking out Portugal in the process) The instrumentation conveys a dark mood, despite the upbeat strings and the poppy sound. There’s a grooviness in it to contrast the sullen lyrics, mourning for a lost love. It definitely stands out in the crowd; along with Ismeta's lack of makeup.

It got rewarded with a second-to-last place, which is way too low for this. And Yugoslavia withdrew for five years, and came back with a new sound...

#235: Zibbz -- Stones (Switzerland 2018)

"Sins of the father make us fall And I can’t do anything about it"

2018 had a number of staging errors which cost several countries qualification. In Stones' cases, this wasn't the case.

Corrine has incredible stage presence, with a sense of strength and attiude as she struts on the stage. She definitely adds substance to this powerful pop-rock song, fighting against bullying in all corners of society.

To further that, she lights a flare at the bridge, which definitely hits the tone of the song home. Plus, it was an awesome moment to behold.

Basically, Zibbz did everything right--great song, thoughtful message, simple but impactful staging, and it still didn't qualify...While it has outgrown me a bit, it's still a total jam.

#234: Kalomira -- Secret Combination (Greece 2008)

“An open book An open book, well, I'm sorry, I am not Sometimes I'm acting like a lady Sometimes woman, sometimes baby.”

"You maybe an open book Spongebob, but I'm a bit more complicated than that"

One third of the female-bop grouping in the 2008 contest, Secret Combination takes Greek instrumentation and American production to produce quite the gem. I could imagine Britney Spears singing this, but I also thought of the Cheetah Girls when I was listening to it. With a bit of sweetness and a touch of sexiness, Kalomira plays the different roles well--and has a cute moment when the book actually opens, revealing her in a really nice silvery dress!

#233: Avi Toledano -- Hora (Israel 1982)

"וגם ההורה, ההיא עם הה”א קולה עוד עולה, קולה לא נדם"

"And also the Hora, the one with the Hey Its voice still rises, its voice has not been silenced"

Israel had a particular style with songs from the 1980s--they are usually really energetic, with fun choreography in which everyone joins along. It makes for good results and good energy, especially when it's done well!

Hora seems to embody it in many ways, from the celebratory lyrics to the fun dancing across the really tiny stage in Harrogate. It combines Israeli folk music with a sense of joie-de-vivre, celebrating the nation (which as you will see later, may not work today...)

Avi earns himself a strong second place, but he would write something even better the following year (again, will come later)!

#232: Raphael Gualazzi -- Madness of Love (Italy 2011)

"Ma vedrai un altro me in un sogno fragile Riderai come se non ti avessi amato mai Cercherai un altro me oltre all’ombra di un caffè"

"But you’ll see another me in a fragile dream You’ll laugh as if I had never loved you You’ll look for another me beyond the shadow of a coffee"

Between 1994 and 2010, Italy withdrew from Eurovision, with only one participation in 1997. Nobody knows why, with reasons ranging from the rise of a televote to Italian disinterest in the contest, but they were certainly missed. Thanks to the late Rafaella Carra and a bunch of other circumstances, Italy came back in 2011, and they did so in style.

"Madness of Love" is frequently overlooked amongst Italy's post-comeback entries, as some of us aren't into jazz. I don't listen to the genre often, but I like this song particularly. It's flirty and sweet, under a very sophisticated soundscape which reminds me of a 1920s speakeasy. And while people are put off by Raphael's vocals, the way he lets himself go at the end of the chorus is definitely a highlight.

Basically, it's one of those runners-up that should've won against the winner of its year. But it was nicely made up for ten years later.

#231: Anneli Saaristo -- La dolce vita (Finland 1989)

“I was just quenching life’s thirst I knew how to plead for happiness After everything all I can say is: The good life”

La Dolce Vita sounds more stereotypically ”Spanish” than “Finnish”, because of its flamenco influences versus the dark pop or metal we expect from the country. Apparently, a lot of Finns travel south for vacations, which makes a bit more sense here.

Either way, it springs a bit of life and joy into a dark heart. It embraces life in its tropical vibe and Anneli’s deep vocals, and conveys a comfortable mood. Apparently, it was also known for Anneli's slight choreography, but I only noticed her standing during the instrumental.

It would be Finland’s last top ten result for many years, but the 7th place it got in Lausanne was deserved (and they should've done better, actually!). A fitting send-off for their long-time conductor Ossi Runne (RIP).

Insekten und Wolken ☁️

Ein Leben nicht unter den Wolken, nicht über den Wolken sondern in mitten den Wolken!

Ich habe so vieles, wie ich hier sehe und erlebe, noch nie in meinem Leben gesehen. Denn zum Beispiel liegt Laitkynsew direkt in den Wolken. Weißt du wie wolken riechen? Ich wusste es nie und nun kann ich sie sogar fast täglich riechen. Es ist eine Mischung aus Feuchtigkeit und einer Nebelmaschine, aber auf natürliche Art und Weise ☁️😀 Wenn ich um 7 Uhr aufstehe kann strahlend schönes Wetter sein und alles ist super sonnig und super groovy :).. Doch um zb 7.10 kann sich alles ändern, denn du kannst hier richtig beobachten, wie die dicken und satten Wolken, teilweise gefüllt mit Regen, über den Ort ziehen und bei uns verweilen. So findest du, wo du voher nur Meterhohe Wasserfälle gesehen hast, eine Nebelwand vor, die es dir kaum vermag auf 10 Meter zu sehen. Einmal mussten wir mit dem Auto nach Hause fahren, es wurde schon dunkel und auf einmal kamen die Wolken und wir konnten nichts mehr sehen und nur noch nach links und rechts auf den Boden schauen, ob wir uns noch auf der Straße befinden 😀

Jedenfalls gestaltet sich das unterrichten in den Klassen dann auch dementsprechend mystische, wenn die Wolken dann in die Klassenzimmer rein ziehen. Ich bin von diesem Anblick immer wieder fasziniert.

Wie schön das auch ist, hat es natürlich auch eine Schattenseite. Denn durch die Feuchtigkeit ist hier leider alles von Schimmel befallen. So auch in der Schule, umliegenden Häusern und auch mein Zimmer. Ich durfte mich schon von über der hälfte meiner Sachen verabschieden, da sie stark zu schimmeln begonnen haben...naja wollte ja eh den Koffer da lassen :)... Und weiterhin Minimalismus leben 😉 man muss es auch positiv sehen ;)

Indien ist immer für ein Überraschungen gut :) das habe ich in dem Monat, den ich am Dienstag da bin, schon lernen dürfen 😎⭐

Diese Woche hatten wir auch schon einen kleinen Schlangenalarm. Eine doch gifitge Schlage hat sich in der Schule unter der Treppe eingenistet. Hab sie mir noch angeschaut, aber ich musste extrem genau schauen, da sie schwarz war, konnte ich sie nicht gleich erkennen. Der Hausmeister, ein Lehrer und der Bruder hier, waren so mutig und haben sie gefangen und sozusagen entfernt. Ja und dazu überleitend gibt es einiges was kriecht, krabbelt und fliegt hier - Insekten in einer Größe, die lassen unsere Maikäfer als Kinderspielzeug ausschauen. Tja und jeder wo mich ein wenig näher kennt, weiß das diese nicht so beliebt bei mir sind 😜 tja, seitdem ich mit denen lebe bin ich glaube ich debsensibilisiert 🤗.. Grashopper, Nachtfalter, Schmetterlinge und andere Insekten von denne ich keine Ahnung habe, kreuzen durchgehend meinen Weg. Vorzufinden sind sie in allen Farben und Ausführungen. Manchmal stehe ich da und bewunder mir die Formen und Farben der Insekten. Aja ganz typisch, nicht zu vergessen die Spinnen und Kackalaken hier haha. Diese sind noch recht schnell unterwegs 😀 Empfindlich darf man hier nicht sein 😎😊.. Wöchentliche Kontrolle der Schränke und des Zimmers und allgemein des Gebäudes gehören zum Pflichtprogramm eines jeden. Außer den Insekten und sonstigen haben wir noch 2 Katzen und 3 Babykätzchen und eine Henne hier. Diese habe ich aber auch erst gestern entdeckt 😂 vl finde ich noch mehr Tiere :)

Derek Sherinian "Vortex"

Sempre és un plaer sentir els treballs d'aquest home: són directes, variats i, sobretot, plens de suculentes col·laboracions.

En aquest "Vortex", un progressiu soft com jo l'anomeno, tenen cabuda guitarres tan lùcides com les de Steve Stevens, Nuno Bettencourt, els binomis Joe Bonamassa/Steve Lukather i Michael Schenker/Zakk Wylde, Bumblefoot, i fins i tot, Mike Stern. Cal dir que la base no és gens menyspreable, tenint en compte que a la bateria es troba Simon Phillips i al baix Tony Franklin acompanyant al teclat de Derek Sherinian que, de tant en quant, ens recordarà agradablement al gran Jan Hammer. Amb aquesta premissa, ja tenim l'èxit garantit, tot i que també és cert que tots els àlbums es regeixen pel mateix patró i, a vegades, ens pot semblar que hi ha temes que ja hem sentit, no obstant, sempre ens quedarà gaudir d'aquest meravellós all-star de músics.

El primer tema, "The Vortex", el trobo excels en quant a métrica, execució i composició. Stevens es llueix com un animal, pero en la justa mesura. Li segueix un groovy "Fire Horse" on tampoc Nuno es queda enrera, continuant amb el motiu de doblar a Derek en les melodies. "Scorpion" talla la 'canya' en un tema fusion on el trio Derek (al piano), Simon, Tony fan de les seves amb un tempo sincopat. El tall més progressive arriba de la ma de "Seven Seas", repetint amb el tot terreny Stevens de guest. Sentir com es 'barallen' Bonamassa i Lukather en el funky "Key Lime Blues" és una delícia per les oïdes. Schenker aporta el seu granet en el metalero-morisco "Die Kobra" fent seva la melodia del pont i replicant a Derek en el solo, mentres que Zakk passa desapercebut en les melodies principals i en l'outro del solo. "No Man's Land" és un altre tema fusion exquisit, on perfectament podria aparèixer Bill Evans, amb una guitarra de Stern a l'estil Scofield, tot i que amb una mica més d'"habilitat". Acaba amb un "Aurora Australis" que comença subtil amb el piano de Derek i, conforme pasen els minuts, va agafant força.

Un disc assequible a tot tipus d'oïdes, amb algun tema apte només pels que ens hem endinsat en el prog-fusion alguna vegada, i que flueix molt bé, intercalant els temes més rock amb els fusion.

Lumières sur le Neopop festival

Jasmine, c’est un peu comme la grande sœur admirable dès que tu commences à aimer un peu la techno. C’est le genre de personne qui se réveillait déjà en 5ème avec Gesaffelstein en le programmant soigneusement sur son téléphone. Le même genre de personne  qui était déjà  fanatique des pionniers  dès le collège, qui pouvait tenir à l’âge de 12 ans un débat sur tel ou tel sample utilisé par ceux qu’elle écoutait. C’est celle aussi qui connaissait absolument tout le vocabulaire à connaître pour analyser la musique, alors que la plupart des moldus  recalés à l’entrée de poudlard  et à l’âge d’y être ne distinguaient généralement pas une musique d’une autre, et qualifiaient, comme les non- initiés, toutes ces créations de « musiques électroniques ».

Jasmine est désormais une daronne de 20 ans.  Il y a un peu plus d’un an, elle rentrait d’un voyage au Portugal et commençait alors sa propagande sur le Neopop. Durant la période qui a suivi,  quand une personne rencontrait Jasmine  celle-ci jouait de sa force de persuasion pour nous  convaincre que, effectivement, le Neopop était le meilleur peut-être seulement un des meilleurs) festival de techno d’Europe .  Sa propagande était presque aussi réussie que celle de Macron durant la campagne présidentielle de 2017.

Je fus l’une des personnes  à se faire avoir. (Par Jasmine,pas par Macron ) Mais c’était avec le plus grand enthousiasme, car Jasmine se trompe rarement en terme de musique.

Bon, il est vrai qu’avec ses connaissances empiriques et théoriques sur la musique techno, elle possède cette légitimité qui fait que quoi qu’elle dise, son discours musical  sera toujours légitimé et entendu. (Bourdieu, Ce que parler veut dire, 1982)

Le Neopop, c’est donc un petit festival qui réunit, depuis 2006, les plus grandes têtes d’affiches des festivals mondiaux et qui propulsent les nouveau-nés grandioses vers l’avant.  Situé à Viana Do Castelo, à une cinquantaine de kilomètres de la ville portugaise de Porto, le festival s’est installé sur le port industriel de la ville entre les remparts du fort et les machines du chantier naval. Il dispose également d’un spot camping incroyable niché au bord de la plage, présentant tout ce qui est nécessaire à la survie durant le marathon que constitue le Neopop. C’est cela qui m’a particulièrement marquée lors de ma première venue, un événement parfaitement ficelé offrant donc une qualité de prestations au delà même des attentes des  festivaliers. De la propreté des sites à la qualité du sound system sans oublier la programmation très pointue, nous fûmes forcés de constater que c'était pour nous un très bon festival.

Cette année, je m’y suis rendu pour la première fois  (à nouveau pour JA) en cherchant absolument un élément qui ferait en sorte que le jugement de Jasmine soit biaisé : Malheureusement, il n’en fut rien. De la vue sur la mer depuis le camping à la qualité de la musique, en passant par la propreté des lieux. ( Oui oui ça compte même chez les technophiles)  J’y étais allé  principalement pour St Germain, Kink ( encore et toujours), Zadig, Paula Temple, Aleksi Perala, Jeff Mills, Capriati, len Faki, Marco Carola, Paul Ritch et pour enfin voir Recondite plus d’une demi heure de suite. J’en retiendrai principalement trois choses : Ricardo Villalobos, la nuit du vendredi au samedi,  Autotune  de Blade Runner qui a été à peu près samplé plus de 106 fois par nuit, si on y inclut les expériences musicales plus ou moins formelles du camping. ( Oui, j’ai pu les compter lors d’une belle nuit d’insomnie).

I.Ricardo Villalobos: et si son set pouvait à lui seul raconter la sucess story du Neopop?

Un samedi matin d’été, vers 9h.  Ricardo Villalobos, annoncé comme le favori du festival pour beaucoup, arrive  sur la neo stage.  Le soleil commence à briller de plus en plus, la fatigue aussi. Il faut dire que Villalobos clôture un marathon d’une envergure assez hors-norme:

venait  alors de s’enchaîner  sur la même scène Paula Temple, Joseph Capriati , Jeff Mills et Len Faki. Si vous ne comptez pas Jasmine dans vos amis et que  par conséquent, vous pensez avoir du mal à comprendre la qualité de la scèn,  nous pouvons dire  pour vous aider que celui-ci représente les plus grosses têtes d’affiches de festival depuis quelques années ou également que ces derniers ont à peu près tous figurés sur la couverture du célèbre magazine de musique électronique  Trax.

Bon, nous risquons de vous saouler assez souvent avec des biographies car  nous adorons en  faire mais comme je sais que cela  peut-être vu comme une passion aussi étrange ou aussi monotone  que d’adorer lire des listes de prénoms, si ce n’est pas votre cas, je vous invite à vous rendre au paragraphe souvent.

Villalobos est le type de personne qui  s’est vu attribué plusieurs fois le titre de meilleur DJ ou qui du moins figure presque tout le temps dans le top de Resident Advisor.

Un homme classique, par définition.

Arrivé à Berlin à l’âge de 3 ans, à la suite du coup d’Etat de Pinochet ( Pour que cette article soit interactif, nous vous laissons le soin de trouver sa première nationalité ainsi que son année de naissance) .

Villalobos est sensibilisé à une pluralité  d’écoutes musicales  grâce  à sa famille mélomane. Cela  l’encourage à commencer la musique de façon très précoce, et à  se spécialiser dans l’apprentissage des congas et du bongo.  Adolescent, il est, comme beaucoup, fan de Depeche Mode. Il commence un peu plus tard à écouter Daniel Miller, Thomas Melchior, Baby Ford, Daniel Bell, Andrew Weatherall…

D’une certaine manière, nous pouvons affirmer que Villalobos a suivi un schéma assez classique de musicien né dans les années 90 : les nouvelles sonorités Pop l’ont amené à apprécier de nouveaux artistes qui l’ont conduit à apprécier les nouvelles sonorités qui se font connaître petit à petit   ( Detroit, puis la seconde vague de Detroit qui inspire principalement notre jeune M. Villalobos : Richie Hawtin en est, il nous semble, le meilleur exemple)

Il  se met à composer ses propres morceaux à l’âge de 18 ans.  Rapidement, son succès est reconnu et l’artiste devient professionnel dans les années 1990.  Il compose son premier EP en 92 et devient résident de clubs réputés comme l’ Omen en Pologne.

-       Retour au Neopop : C’est donc après avoir entendu parler de tout ça, avoir entendu  Villalobos sacré par plusieurs connaisseurs  comme un des principaux représentants de la techno minimale que nous arrivons à 9h du matin devant lui.

Je ne connais pas tous ses anciens morceaux, mais j’avais principalement en tête son remix de Samuel Rohrer, ‘’ Microcosmoism’’.

Son set débute , il balance des tracks très house et groovy (notamment Blaze-Lovelee Day ou Paul Rutherford-Get real). Après une trentaine de minutes il bascule vers de la disco house, “Pick Up” de l’allemand DJ Koze et nous surprend en plein milieu de son set en passant un célèbre chant révolutionnaire portugais à retrouver ici:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilLAnUXZvm0

Il enchaine ensuite avec son célèbre track “Up” réalisé en collaboration avec le tout autant loufoque Butch. (Butric)

En conclusion,  Ricardo, par sa danse si pure derrière ses platines et même par sa disparition de 20 min est un de nos meilleurs souvenirs de set, au point qu’il mérite amplement  les lignes que nous lui avions consacrés.  Nous aimerions pouvoir affirmer qu’il s’agissait là d’un des meilleurs set de Villalobos, malheureusement paraît-il que tous ses sets sont plus déjantés et chouettes les uns que les autres.

Ce qui nous a particulièrement marqué, c’est peut-être cette absence si singulière mais qui paradoxalement cloue, marque sa présence face au public.

II. Et si le vendredi  9 représentait une émeute dans l’histoire de la révolution technologique ?

Oui, rien que ça.  Le néopop, c’était un peu comme faire la révolution. Un grand marathon où le bien commun  musical  ( bon il n’existe certainement pas) est mis à l’épreuve des besoins fondamentaux des individus.( Manger, dormir). Un grand programme révolutionnaire, en somme.

Ce jour peut-être considéré comme une émeute, car il a, à mon humble avis, participé à la future révolution musicale qui pourrait advenir  ces prochaines années. Nous l’attendons avec impatience, d’ailleurs.

Car ce marathon commencé à 18h et fini vers 9h a vu défiler sur la même scène des artistes à la fois très différents et à la fois  si  inspirés par leurs prédécesseurs : Un peu comme si des petits révolutionnaires en herbes, inspirés par Marx, Bakounine, Engels, Spinoza, Bergson, Bourdieu ou encore Foucault, se retrouvaient  au même endroit. Si ces derniers sont devenus Lordon, le comité invisible, les rédacteurs de Lundi matin  ou encore Serge Halimi, les voir, les un après  les autres, évoquer leurs mêmes racines communes  en même temps s’en éloigner chacun  à sa manière fut un grand moment , en bons petits révolutionnaires technofiles que nous sommes.

A)    20/22h :Solomun, le petit Bernstein de la bande

Quelle bonne idée de placer enfin Solomun au début d’un emploi du temps.  Déjà élu lui aussi  DJ de l’année ( en 2012) Solomun a su célébrer le début de cette émeute comme il se doit.  Ayant la capacité, quasi divine, d’allier les différents styles de musiques électroniques ( house, deep house et techno majoritairement)  il a su faire de même ce soir la, en commençant avec des tracks bien mélodieux comme il en a l’habitude. Petit à petit, à mesure que l’appréciation des lumières du Neopop se faisait plus importante grâce à la disparition du soleil, des rythmiques bien plus saccadées prenaient petit à petit place.

son set a su séduire le public très éclectique du festival aux dépens de l’Anti stage qui resta bien vide durant ces deux heures.

B)   Appolonia, un membre discret de la ligue spartakiste?

22h00 à 1h. Il est a noté qu’un des éléments particulièrement cool du festival était que les artistes jouaient la plupart de temps de longs sets, et que 3h était plus ou moins la moyenne communément admise. De fait, cela éliminait le principal inconvénient habituel en festival : la courte durée des sets, généralement 1/1H30, qui permet seulement une petite introduction de la musique de l’artiste.

Par ailleurs, les artistes s’enchaînaient particulièrement les un après les autres  sur la scène du Neostage.

22h, donc, Solomun cède sa place à Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom et Shonky, qui a eux trois forment le trio français Appolonia.

Le début du set renoue avec le début de la soirée, lorsque Solomun a pris les platines. Avec ce set de sonorités en général très proches de la house, c’est peut-être le set qui dénote lle plus des artistes de la soirée, en étant bien plus proche de Chicago que de Détroit.

En attendant, il fait bien noir maintenant, et le superbe jeu de lumière commence à être visible. Nous vous l’assurons, les lumières du Neopop valent presque autant le coup que toute cette programmation ahurissante.

C) Recondite, Lénine ?

De 1 à 2h, nous avons laissé place au set du talentueux Recondite.

La petite heure de set de Recondite lui a permis d’apparaître dans cet article, car son set était, au même titre que les autres, une émeute dans la techno.

Recondite, avant, c’était un peu le gars que tout le monde avait déjà vu jouer mais que je n’avais jamais réussi à voir.

Pour ceux qui ne le connaissent pas, il me semble que cette phrase, écrite par un journaliste de trax ( article non signé ) est très pertinente :  ‘’ Ses productions sont millimétrées, variées, deep et souvent mélancoliques. Apprécié du public, qui l’a élu meilleur live 2014 selon RA, Recondite aime avant tout composer de la musique au format club pour des scènes de festival’’.( citation à retrouver dans l’article “ Recondite: la techno est définitivement plus populaire en France qu’en Allemagne’’ de trax, écrit par Antoine Miclea en avril 2016 )

Avec un style très varié, il évolue entre la techno minimale, desfois acid,  à des productions souvent perçues comme mélancoliques, avec leurs tempos plus lents.

Recondite, c’était en quelque sorte le lénine du communisme  de la soirée : Avec des accents et des sonorités plus mélodiques au début qui le lie et l’enchaîne bien après Appolonia, son set évolue en renouant avec les origines  pures de la deuxième vague de Detroit.

D) Adriatique… Classable ?

2/3h30. Les plus fragiles d’entre nous sont rentrés depuis bien longtemps ( Jasmine lol) et nos deux amis d’ Adriatique rentrent sur scène.  Les lumières du Neopop dansent, s’évadent pour revenir sur scène et repartir de plus belle avec des couleurs nouvelles.

Petit à petit, les lumières deviennent de plus en plus impressionnantes, les basses résonnent de plus en plus et de manière de plus en plus répétitive. Le talent est repérable au fait que cette accélération ne se ressent pas tout à coup, mais d’une manière graduelle.

E) Nastia, : Rosa Luxembourg <3

5/7h. Sous de sublimes lumières rouges, Nastia,  l’ukrainienne ayant fondée son label Propaganda, arrive. Son set  est écliptique, passe surtout très vite. Nastia c’était cool, et je pense qu’il est difficile de dire plus de choses, tant pis pour les cours d’argumentation de première.

Son set du neopop lui vaut l’attribution de Luxembourg, fidèle et attaquante, comme ce qu’il  faut.

F)  Ben Clock, Babeuf ?

7h. Les lumières ne sont plus visibles, Ben Clock le devient. La perspective de devoir écrire quelques lignes sur Ben Clock m’effraie : écrire lors d’une petite initiation à l’écriture journalistique sur le grand monstre du Berghain me paraît même dérisoire. Ben Clock, comme indiqué dans le sous titre, peut être associé au Babeuf de la révolution, si on excepte le fait que celui-ci est  adoré et vénéré de son vivant, et qu’il n’est pas avant gardiste  mais plutôt très discipliné dans une pureté musicale, que le festival des nuits sonores décrit comme ‘’une techno brute et rectiligne’’ (citation utilisé dans le trax interview de Ben Clock) même si ses influences sont diverses et c’est cela qui fait tout son charisme. Au Neopop, Ben Clock, faisant part à un public sûrement plus averti que la moyenne des festivals , a cependant usé de son charme de résident ainsi que de membre du label Ostgut Ton   et de tous ses habitus pour réussir son set. Ce fut réussi.

C’est ainsi que l’émeute termina : la révolution non achevée du Neopop nous donne l'irrépressible envie d’y revenir l’an prochain.

A linguagem de programação que é orientada a objetos e funcional.

Desenvolvida por Martin Odersky e pelo grupo dele na École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) em 2001 lá na Suíça, Scala (Scalabel Language) é uma linguagem de programação de propósito geral, ou seja, a ideia dela é fornecer um framework no qual o programador possa trabalhar com vários estilos, misturando livremente construtores de diferentes paradigmas, no nosso caso, ela une Orientação a Objetos e Programação Funcional. A Scala utiliza a JVM (Java Virtual Machine), aquele ambiente de execução utilizado pela linguagem Java que, aliás, vem sendo utilizado por várias outras, tais como: Jython, Closure, Groovy e etc. Isso torna a integração entre as linguagens (Java-Scala) muito simples, além disso isso faz com que se possa tirar proveito de todo material ja desenvolvido na JVM. Para desenvolvedores com conhecimento em linguagens orientadas a objeto, aprender Scala vai ser um passo natural, tendo como um desafio somente na parte funcional da linguagem. Outro ponto que vale ressaltar, a Scala tem uma sintaxe simples e clara, assim como outras linguagens dinâmicas, como Python ou Ruby, mas com um pequena diferença, ela é esteticamente tipada. A Pink – Eyes / Five [Pink UP]

Ők az egyetlen együttes, akiktől több comeback számot hallgattam meg, mert a fellépést néztem meg, a többi előadótól pedig csak a fő dalt hallgattam meg.

Kezdjük az Eyes-zal. Ez egy lassabb, ballada-szerű dal, amit rövidített verzióban adtak elő a Five-ot megelőzően. A stílusból kifolyólag én úgy éreztem, hogy csak Eunji-nek volt kényelmes ilyen dalt énekelni. Ő mert énekelni, a többieken pedig úgy láttam, hogy annyira nem áll hozzájuk közel, bizonytalanul énekeltek, és ami nekem még feltűnt és zavart picit, az a műszomorúság, amit árasztottak (Eunjihez képest, aki teli mosollyal énekelte a sorait). Amikor a többiek soraihoz énekelt alá is azt éreztem, hogy támogatni próbálta őket, hogy merjenek énekelni, nem pedig föléjük énekelt.

A Five fellépése a habos-babos ruhák és színvilág körül forgott, ami illett a dalhoz is. Olyan kis céltalan semmiség. A lányok fehér-pink-pasztell lila ruhákat viseltek, kivéve Naeun, aki szerintem nagyon kilógott a kék együttesével. Maga a dal egyszer meghallgatható talán, háttérbe takarításhoz például, nekem ez a fajta hangzásvilág egyáltalán nem jön be, bár tény, hogy tetsző A Pink számot nem tudnék mondani, annak ellenére is, hogy Eunji hangját nagyon szeretem. A refrén előtti verse még jó és addig egészen jól építkezik a dal, de a refrén egyáltalán nem hoz semmi újat és így az egész dal egysíkúvá válik.

Heize - Don't know you [ /// ]

A dalról előlegbe (mert utána kellett olvasnom, eredetileg úgy tudtam, hogy ’I don’t know you too much’ címen fog megjelenni) annyit, hogy Heize és Groovy Room írta, akinek a munkásságát ugyancsak követem. Heize nekem valahol mindig is komoly oda-vissza előadó volt, vagy nagyon tetszett a száma, vagy egyáltalán nem. Az MV-ben Onew (SHINee) szerepel, bár nem láttam, a kislemez pedig all-kill státuszt ért el.

Most pedig a dalról. Heize hangszíne különleges. Éppen ezért volt olyan érzésem ez a dal kapcsán is, tetszik is és nem is. A dallam teljesen jó, passzol az énekhez és a dalszöveghez is, a refrén is meglepő (a dal korábbi részeihez képest) módon működött, nem volt túl nagy váltás, de mégis építkezett valahová és beváltotta az előtte lévő verse reményeit. Heizet rapperként ismertem meg még jó korán, mikor feltűnt a színtéren, éppen ezért a rap részei most is nagyon tetszettek, ki is írtam egy részt magamnak, hogy majd csengőhangként kivágjam. Viszont. Aláírom, fejlődik, sokat, de amikor magasan próbált énekelni, egyáltalán nem tetszett. Nincsen semmi bajom az énekhangjával is, csak ezek a részeket nem nagyon értettem, hogy miért kellett, amikor nekem hangilag is kilógnak magából a dalból. Ennek ellenére lehet, hogy csak még néhány meghallgatás kell ahhoz, hogy megszeressem, az ő dalai közt volt már ilyenre példa.

LOOΠΔ Jinsoul - Singing in the rain [JinSoul]

A  LOOΠΔ debütálási „projektjét” mindig azonnal meghallgatom, mert hihetetlenül ígéretes csapatnak tűnnek. Maga a tagok bemutatásának a koncepciója is érdekes és működő, hiába lehetne nagyon el is rontani az ilyet. A korábbi számok is tetszettek, bár nem mindegyik, de most a legújabb tag, Jinsoul számáról lesz szó. A Singing in the rain a fő dal, de a B-oldalán található egy Love Letter című duett is Kim Lip-pel. A dalnak az üteme és lágy hangjai teljes harmóniába voltak, bár a refrén szerintem lehetett volna kicsit magabiztosabb és „erőteljesebb”. Az eddigi tagok közül Kim Lip hangja tetszik a legjobban, nagyon jól illett Jinsoul mellé. A refrénben nekem kicsit túl sok volt még az aláéneklés, néhol elnyomta magukat a hangokat, bár nem teljesen zavaróan.

A fő dal, a Singing in the rain kezdése elég érdekes ütemileg, Jinsoul hangszíne kellemesen csendül fel, viszont a refrén címrészei üresnek tűntek nekem, mind ütemileg, mind hangilag. Arról nem is beszélve, hogy az egysoros refréneket nem igazán értem. (Félre ne értsétek, nem csak rosszat tudok mondani, kedvenc énekesektől se értem az ilyet, például Taeyeon I Got Love-ja, de ez visszatérő problémám lesz a többi dal kapcsán is.) Jobb szeretem, ha egy refrén ki van töltve tartalommal és hanggal. A másik, amit nem értettem a dal kapcsán, hogy olyan szép hangja van Jinsoul-nak, miért kellett rappelnie. Ráadásul mintha kicsit torzítva lettek volna azok a részek. Amikor a refrén alá énekel pluszba, jobb lett a helyzet, de utána megint visszatért a dal a kicsit ürességhez.

BoA – CAMO [Camo]

Bárki bármit mond (és ebbe én is beletartozom): BoA a kpop királynője. Minden ellenére is. A CAMO ellenére is. A dal hangzásvilága egyáltalán nem jött be, a hangja továbbra is senkiéhez sem fogható és mindig nosztalgikus és egyszerűen jó érzés hallgatni, a dalai pedig mindig olyan egyediek, hogy még ha valaki pár számot is ismer tőle, bármikor felismerné, hogy BoA szól a rádióban. Szerintem ezt nagyon nehéz elérni, bár az is tény, hogy ő az az énekesnő, aki iszonyat sokat letett már az asztalra. De maradjunk a dalnál, neki szeretnék egy teljes bejegyzést majd szentelni. A CAMO refrénje előtti rész megfelelően hatásos, úgy is, hogy zeneileg kevesebb és letisztultabb. A refrént viszont nála is kevésnek éreztem, ő sokkal többet ki tud hozni a dalaiból, bár muszáj elismernem, hogy a klasszikus BoA-t sokkal jobban szeretem, mint a Kiss My Lips-féle, és úgy látszik, ezen a vonalon maradt BoA-t. Tudom, hogy újítani kell, tudom, hogy a közönség ízlése és trendek, és tudom, hogy fel kell venni a versenyt a fiatal generációkkal is. De nem értem, hogy miért, amikor régebben minőségibb és egyedibb volt az egész kpop színtér. Nyilván, hangsúlyozom, nyilván most is vannak (és egy kezemen meg se tudom számolni, hány) egyedig együttesek és énekesek most is. De továbbra is a dal. A dalszöveg szintén nem túl tartalmas hozzá képest, maga a dal több-meghallgatásos dal, de mindenképp adok neki több esélyt, elsősorban azért, mert BoA és tudom, hogy elfogult vagyok.

Shannon - Love don't hurt feat. Amber

Őszinte leszek, az előbbi daloktól kicsit kezdtem elveszíteni a lelkesedésemet, pedig azok mind a huszonhatodikai dalok voltak, és még csak most lépünk át a következő dalra. (Előlegbe annyit elárulok, hogy innentől sokkal jobb lett a helyzet, legnagyobb örömömre.) Az első kellemes meglepetést az okozta, hogy Amber működik közre a dalban, amikor két hete összeírtam, kitől mi jelenik meg, még nem volt szó róla. Ez már adott egy kis bíztató kezdőlökést, tőle ugyanis még nem hallottam rossz számot (mármint közreműködést, az f(x) kicsit más tészta, illetve a saját szóló számai). A hangzásvilág kellemes, nyárias, passzol a dalszöveghez is és Shannon hangjához is, amit nagyon szeretek. Ennek ellenére, és pont ezért is, néhol nekem kicsit túl sok volt a zene, nem lehetett tisztán hallani és érteni a részeket. Annak nem néztem még utána, hogy fel fog-e lépni a dallal (mert voltak részek és jelenetek, amikben kivetnivalókat találtak), de kíváncsi lennék, hogy ott más-e a helyzet. A refrén végre egy olyan refrén volt, ami a zenével támogatott építkezést végre új szintre emeli és nem visszaveszi. Az utána lévő kis szünet kellően hatásos és beleillik Amber része előtt. És bár ez most inkább Shannon-ról szól(na), nem tudok nem kitérni arra, hogy Amber hangja mennyire fantasztikus. Akár magasan, akár nem. A második refrén előtt ő is aláénekel, ami abszolút tetszett. Az átvezető részek sem laposak, a dalszöveg egyszerű, de tökéletes a dallamhoz, se nem túl sok, néhány rész megragad. Utazáshoz például tökéletes dal szerintem, én legalább egyből hozzáadtam a lejátszási listámhoz. (Örültem volna, hogyha Amber felcsendül még többet is, de tudom, hogy csak közreműködött és azoknak a pici részeknek is nagyon örülök!)

Peniel - That girl [Piece of BTOB Vol. 3]

Már az első hangtól kezdve felírtam magát a nyári lejátszási listámra és azóta is biztos helye van, egyszerűen tökéletes. A dal végig angol (akárcsak Shannon dala, csak nem emeltem ki külön), a dalszöveg kellően tartalmas és illik a hangzásvilágba is. Könnyed, nyári, de van jelentése is. Némelyik rész megmosolyogtatott, annyira el tudtam képzelni hozzá Peniel mimikáját is. Ő az, akit tűzön-vízen át támogatok a BTOB-ből, mert tehetséges és keményen dolgozik (a többiek is), amiért tisztelem is. És újra: tehetséges. Mind éneklésben, mind pedig rappelésben. Tiszta a hangja, kellően artikulál, érthető a dalszöveg végig. Szerintem borzasztó magával ragadó is lett, egyszerűn teremt egy hangulatot és világot a hallgatóval és a második refrént már vele énekeltem. Zeneileg is működött nekem, annak ellenére, hogy néhány elemet általán nem szeretek és tetszik, de a That Girl abszolút kerek egész és így lett tökéletes. Valahogy, hogyha egy dal teljesen tetszik, kevesebb a mondandóm róla, de hát erre vannak a külön bejegyzések. Lehet, hogy a Piece of BTOB megjelenések is szentelek egyet teljesen később, ha kijön mindegyik része. Főleg, ha mindegyik ennyire tetszeni fog, mint az eddigi (ezzel együtt) három.

G.Soul - Tequila feat. Hoody [Tequila]

Életem talán lerosszabb hasonlatával kezdeném: a dal folyik, mint a tequila. Bocsánat. De egyszerűen másképp nem sikerült jellemeznem. A zene és a hang egyszerűen annyira könnyedén egy szinte magától értetődően követi egymást, hogy pillanatra se akad meg sehol sem. A refrén se vált nagyon, teljesen belepasszol a dalba és G.Soul remekül megtölti. Hoody egyszerűen tökéletes, az elmúlt időszakba nagyon megszerettem a hangját és stílusát, szerintem borzasztó jót alkotott G.Soul-lal is. Mindkettejük hangja egyedi és azonnal felismerhető, a kitartott(tabb) hangok is illettek a dalba, nem volt túl sok, kellően ízlésesen el lett találva a mérték, bár az jellemző G.Soul-ra. Annak ellenére, hogy erről a dalról is nagyjából ennyi mondanivalóm van, egyértelműen felkerült ez is a nyári lejátszási listámra és alig várom már, hogy tényleg utazás közben is ez szóljon.

UP10TION – Runner [Stardom]

Először is: Wooshin T^T Másodszor: maybe? Elmagyarázom. A dal elejéről egyrészt a Lean on jutott eszembe, amit vagy ötvenszer meg kellett hallgatnom, amikor volt osztálytársaimnak megtanultam és megtanítottam a táncát, de ennek ellenére kíváncsivá tett, hogy (ugye) más lesz-e vagy megtartja azt a vonalat. Szerencsére nem. Az újabb kis mentális szünet akkor volt, amikor meglepődtem, hogy Hwanhee-nek milyen férfias lett a hangja a So, dangerous korszakhoz képest. Most már egyáltalán nem lehet szerintem Baekhyun-éhoz hasonlítani a hangját, aminek örülök, hiszen hihetetlenül tehetséges minden felesleges hasonlítgatás nélkül is. (Félre ne értsétek, nem Baekhyun gyönyörű hangjával van gondom.) Szóval. Jinhoo részeiről továbbra is fenntartom, hogy az ő hangját akármeddig elhallgatnám. A dal hallgatása során megint előkeült az a dolog, amitől nem csak az UP10TION kapcsán tartok kicsit. Sok tag, kevés sor és rész váltás. Mindegyiküknek volt saját része, bár majd’ megőszültem, mire végre felcsendül Wei hangja – ő zárja le a dalt a soraival egyben, a többiek nélkül. Viszont emiatt voltak tagok, akiknek annyira nem maradt meg, hogy ez most az ő része, ez a másik tagé, annak ellenére, hogy szerintem mindegyikük tehetséges. Tudom azt is, hogy egy dalnál komolyan kell figyelni arra, hogy úgy kövessék egymást a tagok hangszínileg, hogy illeszkedjenek egymáshoz is, és a tematikához is, szerintem ennél a dalnál sikerült szerencsére jól megoldaniuk. A refrén és Hwanhee hangja tökéletes, Sunyoul-tól leesett az állam, Kuhn rappje abszolút passzolt, Bit-to hangja pedig sztereó fejhallgatóval egyszerűen leírhatatlan élmény volt. Sunyoul hangja a tökéletessége ellenére nekem még mindig kicsit kilóg és elüt tónusilag a többiektől, egyedi és tényleg semmi bajom nincs vele, de kicsit olyan volt számomra, mint Onew a SHINee-ból. Tökéletes, főleg szólóban hallgatni, de nagyon el kell találnia, hogy ne lógjon ki túlságosan. A dal végefelé volt egy Jinhoo rész, amikor föléénekelt, utána pedig szünet következett, szerintem abszolút hatásos része volt a dalnak.

Mivel tudom, hogy a fiúk nem csak ezt a dalt promotálják, mindenképp megnézem majd a fellépéseiket is, hogy úgy milyenek a dalok.

Crush - Outside feat. Beenzino [Outside]

Érdekes és friss ütemmel kezd, ami néhol kicsit elnyomja a hangját, de van, ahol mégse. Kicsit ilyen volt nekem az egész dal is. Crush számai közül is így van, vagy nagyon tetszik és listára teszem, de van, amelyiket csak félig tudom meghallgatni. Ennek ellenére az egzotikus hangzásvilág és a hangja működött valamennyire, a refrén előtti váltás is ugyanolyan ütemes maradt, tökéletes az aláénekléssel. A refrén szintén egysoros, de a hangjával próbál variálni és változtatni, hogy ne legyen üres és valamennyire sikerül is. Vannak érdekes elemei a zenének, amit kicsit homlokráncolva hallgattam, hogy „hát jó”, a dal lezárásáról például a futurisztikus szó jutott eszembe. Beenzino rappjét szeressük, nála is van váltás a zenében, hisz teljesen már karakterű a hangszíne és stílusa, de szerintem pont ezért működtek. Valahogy jobban tetszik, ha egy énekes és rapper közreműködésében van egy kis ellentét a tónusokban, sokkal izgalmasabb. Azt nem tudom, hogy van-e a lemeznek több dala, még utána kell nézni, ha igen, valószínűleg a jövő heti felfedezésekbe teszem bele, vagy pótolt címszó alá.

Lee Hyori - Seoul feat. Killagramz [Black]

Nem értem. Ezzel tudnám jellemezni ezt a dalt. Egyrészt a kezdése, másrészt a szövege, másrészt a visszatérés nekem elmaradt és úgy egészébe nem volt nekem ennek se füle se farka. Hyori hangja olyan, amit bármeddig hallgatna az ember. Csak egy jó dal kell hozzá. Számomra a Seoul nem lett ez a dal. Bár zeneileg szintén más, mint a mostani dalok és megidézi a régi idők zenéjét, elkapott engem is a Hyori-féle nosztalgia, de most ezért vártam volna többet ettől a számtól. Főleg, hogy nem emlékszem pontosan, hány év után tért vissza. A refrén ezúttal egyszavas, minden második tagolja kicsit, de ugyanannyira nem kap értelmet. Utána pedig szünet, füttyel és érdekes háttérhangokkal, ahol szívesen megállítottam volna. Főleg, hogy több mint tizenötmásodperces szünetek vannak a refrének után. A végén pedig szinte a semmiből érkezik Killagramz rappje, semmi átvezetés nincs, utána pedig lezárás, egyszerűen véget ér a dal. A dalszövegnek nincs különösebb hozzáfűznivalóm, néhol túlzóan fogalmaz, néhol nagyon egyszerűen. Azt olvastam, hogy egyáltalán nem vágyik vissza Szöulba (jelenleg ha jól tudom, Jejun élnek a férjével), és nem is szereti a várost. Nem értem. Ennyi kihagyás után, és Hyori-tól többet vártam volna, az album másik számával, a Black-kel szkeptikus vagyok, de remélem, hogy jobb lesz, mint ez.

Luhan - Set it off [I]

Üde hangzásvilággal nyit, az utóbbi időkben Luhan egész sok számot jelentet meg, egy-két számos kislemezeket, amiknek egyrészt örülök, mert nagyon szeretem a hangszínét és hogy ahogy haladok a kínai tanulással, egyre több mindent megértek, de ott a másik oldal, hogy több idő alatt kicsit jobb dalokat tudna alkotni. A zene bár telített volt a különféle elemekkel, nem nyomta el a hangját, ha volt valami kicsendülőbb rész, akkor pont ott volt a szünet, ami szerintem remek megoldás volt. A refrén előtt építkezik, mind a zene, mind hangilag, de a refrén elmarad és kevés lesz, nem érte a fura, torzított részeket se. Után abszolút visszatér a kezdeti hangzáshoz, ahhoz képest talán nincs is változtatás az elemekben, a refrén előtt ugyanúgy épül, és ugyanúgy elmarad. És ugyanúgy nem értem a torzítást. Tipikus mostani zene van ezek az egysoros részek alatt, amit mindenhol hall mostanában az ember, nekem éppen ezért a refrén-területen kívüli részek tetszettek szinte csak a dalból, akármennyire is Luhan. Ennél voltak már ezerszer jobb megjelenései szerintem, de a lemez másik dalát (On Fire) ennek ellenére mindenképp meg szeretném majd hallgatni, hátha. Tény, a Set it off egy bulis szám, a nyugisabb változatából, amire automatikusan tud táncolni az ember, s ha felcsendül a rádióban, azért dúdolja, mégha esetleg magától nem is játssza le.

Lieber Mark,

ignoriere die Pergamentrolle fürs Erste, ich komme am Ende des Briefs darauf zu sprechen.

Hallo aus Chiswick! Man spricht es „chiz-sick“ aus, es ist außerhalb Zentral-Londons, und es ist eine zerfallende Ruine. Ich meine das Haus, nicht die Nachbarschaft, die gemütlich ist. Ein bisschen vorstädtisch, viele grüne Plätze und ruhig. Es würde dir es gefallen. Ich weiß, ich hätte mich eher melden sollen – es tut mir leid. Wir mussten schnell handeln, um diesen Ort zu retten und eine Flammenbotschaft würde dich nicht erreichen. Blackthorn Hall mag eine Ruine sein, aber sie ist das Vermächtnis unserer Familie, eins der sehr wenigen Dinge, das wir von vorangegangene Blackthorns geerbt haben. Ich habe dieses Verantwortungsgefühl, dieses Bedürfnis, diesen Ort zu erhalten – für Tavvy und Dru, für Ty und Liv – nun ja. Du weißt schon. Die Entscheidung war entweder wir oder der Rat und die hätten alles abgerissen und irgendetwas anderes hier aufgestellt. Es ist allerdings in so schlechtem Zustand, dass ein Abriss wahrscheinlich der praktischere Schritt gewesen wäre. Aber es gehört uns und irgendwie liebe ich es. Wenn wir es nicht lieben, wer dann? Ich glaube fest daran, dass es wahrhaftig schön sein kann. Du solltest uns besuchen, wenn du die Gelegenheit hast – ihr alle seid selbstverständlich eingeladen – aber seid gewarnt, dass wir euch, falls ihr in den nächsten paar Monaten kommt, für Arbeit einspannen werden. Das bringt mich zum Pergament, das einen Kostenvoranschlag und einen Vertrag der Feenbauarbeiter für die Renovierungsarbeiten am Haus beinhaltet. Ich hatte gehofft, du und Kieran könntet es auf Feentrickserei überprüfen, ob ihre Kosten vernünftig sind und auch, um sicher zu gehen, dass sie nicht Tavvy bekommen, falls wir zu spät bezahlen. Sie wurden mir wärmstens empfohlen – ich glaube, sie sind Wichtel. Sie sehen wie große Gartenzwerge aus. Na ja, es sind wahrscheinlich die spitzen Hüte. Sie könnten sie natürlich abnehmen, aber ich glaube, sie mögen sie. Sie wissen sicherlich, dass sie wie Gartenzwerge aussehen. Nun ja, sie scheinen vertrauenswürdig und fleißig und so zu sein. Aber Feen tricksen Menschen gerne aus. Also lass mich wissen, was ihr davon haltet. Oh, ich sollte auch noch erklären, dass ein Teil des Hauses in Ordnung ist und all die „mod cons“[1] hat, so wie man sie hier nennt. Es wurde in den Sechzigern renoviert und, nun ja, … es ist „groovy“. Die Ausstattung ist im Mod-Style[2] und auch mod[ern]. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob du den Witz verstehen wirst, aber keine Sorge, er war ziemlich flach. Das Ding ist, ich habe niemals darüber nachgedacht, aber mir ist klar geworden, dass unsere Großeltern diesen Teil des Hauses renoviert haben müssen. Es kommt zeitlich hin. Hier muss Dad also einst gelebt haben. Und Onkel Arthur. Sie sind hier aufgewachsen. Und mir ist klar geworden: auch sie müssen „groovy“ gewesen sein. Arthur. Muss irgendwann. Wirklich „groovy“ gewesen sein. Ich möchte, dass du eine Weile darüber nachdenkst, so wie ich es auch schon getan habe. Es erzeugt ein Gefühl, das meiner Meinung nach noch nie ein Mensch empfunden hat. Du solltest die Kleidung sehen. Also ehrlich, du solltest sie sehen. Es gibt so viel Vintage-Zeug hier, dass es einen Secondhandladen füllen könnte und absolut nichts davon passt mir. Du kannst alles gerne haben, aber es ist fast alles aus synthetischen Stoffen und würde im Feenreich selbst nicht so gut ankommen. Ich weiß, ich bin am Rumschwafeln. Ich habe versucht, es nicht zu sagen, aber dieses Haus hat irgendetwas an sich. Es erinnert mich an manche Nächte, in denen wir beide zu Hause im Institut umherwanderten. Ich weiß, es ist komisch, weil sich nicht mehr von den Bergen Santa Monicas unterscheiden könnten – ich vermisse beißenden Geruch der Waldbrände, den Geruch des Unterholzes und Salbeis, die grobe Erde unter unseren Füßen. (Vermisst du es auch? Ich denke, es muss sehr anders sein als im Feenreich.) Es gab viele Male, besonders als wir jünger waren, wenn wir draußen Geistergeschichten erzählten und uns selbst Angst machten, dass uns etwas zu beobachten schien. Vielleicht war es tatsächlich so, aber ich tendiere dazu, zu glauben, dass es ein freundliches Wesen war. Hier im Haus habe ich das gleiche Gefühl, als ob mich etwas beobachtet, ich sehe Schatten aus dem Augenwinkel, die verschwinden, wenn ich mich umdrehe. Jedenfalls wünschte ich wirklich, du wärst hier. Ich würde es mit Emma besprechen, aber ich möchte sie nicht beunruhigen. Sie hat die enorme Aufgabe angefangen, jahrzehnteumfassende Papiere, Notizbücher und Tagebücher durchzusehen, die den Leuten, die hier wohnten gehörten und ich habe begonnen, den Ballsaal zu streichen. Ich weiß, dass Emma und Cristina in Kontakt stehen, bitte richte ihr und auch K liebe Grüße aus!

PS. Mir ist gerade aufgefallen, dass ich nicht weiß, wo dich dieser Brief erreichen wird, also lass mich klarstellen, dass sich „ihr seid eingeladen“ auf das L.A. Institut und nicht auf den gesamten Dunklen Hof bezieht.

Fazit des Tages: In Moskau trägt man Pelz.

Was für 1 erster Tag! Benni schläft neben mir schon und ich bin auch grad erst wieder erwacht, weil wir einfach so erschlagen von den ganzen Eindrücken sind..  Ich muss sagen das mit der Orientierung hat heute schon um Welten besser geklappt. Kommunikation stellt jedoch dafür immer noch ein Riesenhindernis dar... Wir haben uns zu Beginn entschieden erst einmal ins Zentrum zu fahren und sind dann mehr durch Zufall direkt beim Bolshoi-Theater ausgestiegen. Wunderschön, zumindest schonmal von außen und mit kitschig-schönem Lichtermeer davor auch gekonnt inszeniert. Dann sind wir entspannt zum roten Platz spaziert und auf dem Weg am ‘tomb of the unknown solider’ vorbeigekommen.  Die hohen roten Mauern des Kreml haben uns dann den Weg zum roten Platz gezeigt und das ist schon ganz schön atemberaubend. Diese wundervolle beeindruckende Architektur und dann alles noch märchenhaft mit Schnee bedeckt...Wie magisch hat uns die, wie Benni sie seit heute bezeichnet, ‘Basilikum- Kathedrale’ angezogen. Diese Zwiebeltürmchen 😍 Basilius der Große war ein ganz schön krasser Typ und dafür, dass das hier ja echt tiefst christlich ist, war er ganz schön oft nackt abgebildet. Allerdings gilt er ja auch als Begründer des Asketismus und der kappadokischen Kirche und da wären Klamotten auch echt zu viel des Guten gewesen. Das Innere dieser schon von außen malerischen Kathedrale war einfach der Wahnsinn! Wenn man sich vorstellt wie man da vor Jahrhunderten drinnen gewandelt ist, inmitten von 3 Meter dicken Wänden, und alles nur von schummrigen Kerzen erhellt war und an den Wänden im Dämmerlicht die goldenen Heiligenscheine Geschmier haben... Das hat dann schon eine ganz besondere Erhabenheit. Ganz passend zu dieser Atmosphäre hat dann in der ersten Etage im mittleren Teil eine russische männliche Acapella-Gruppe diese heiligen Räume mit ihrem berührenden Gesang erfüllt.  Nach diesem besinnlichen Besuch war leider auch unser erstes, am Flughafen umgetauschtes Geld alle und voller Hoffnung, dass da eine Wechselstube sein könnte, stürzten wir uns in das GUM. WAHNSINN! Was für ein Konsumtempel.. und so dermaßen anstrengend.. Enorm laute Beschallung, ein absolutes Übermaß an Deko und Weihnachtsschmuck und gefühlt 1 Milliarde Geschäfte.. Und irgendwie zog uns trotzdem oder gerade deswegen alles in seinen Bann.. Wir besuchten Lacoste (wo wir Jacken und Pullis fanden, die sogar halbwegs preiswert waren und auf innere Wunschlisten gesetzt wurden) und Gucci (wo wir Pullis fanden, deren Preis Viviens gesamtes Urlaubsbudget verschlang und Jacken, deren Preis Bennis Urlaubsbudget sogar noch Überstieg). Generell muss ich sagen, dass ich sehr dankbar für meinen Pelz (Shoutout und großes Dankeschön an dieser Stelle an die liebe Sarah!😘) war, denn mit meinen warmen Wanderstiefeln frühlte ich mich schon sehr fehl am Platz 😅 Allerdings fühlte man sich auch sowieso etwas unwohl in den Geschäften, denn jede Bewegung wurde mit Argusaugen beobachtet und sobald man ein Kleidungsstück berührte glaubte man, dass einen die Blicke gleich töten würden. Irgendwie kamen wir uns nicht ganz so willkommen vor.. Jedoch ist Mode schon echt etwas feines. Wenn man da so durch die Geschäfte flaniert, dann kann man den künstlerischen Aspekt dieser Schaffensform gar nicht abstreiten. Wie Formen, Farben und Materialien kombiniert werden - das ist schon reinste Vollendung. Nach so viel Windowshopping machte sich allerdings irgendwann dann doch etwas Appetit breit - das hieß dringend Geld wechseln. Wir fanden auch schnell eine Wechselstube. Jedoch hing das Schild ‘We speak english’ da anscheinend auch nur zu reinem Dekorationszwecken.. Benni verständigte sich aber mit Händen und Füßen und so hatten wir nun endlich ausreichend Bargeld. Da es ja unser erster richtiger Tag in Moskau ist, dachten wir uns, gönnen wir uns mal richtig etwas und steuerten das Djondjoli an, ein von meiner guten Freundin Olga uns empfohlenes georgisches Restaurant. Das war einfach köstlich! Die Augen waren natürlich wieder größer als der Magen, aber so schnabulierten wir uns ein wenig durch 4 verschiedene Vorspeisen.. Die Kommunikation mit der Bedienung lief von Bennis Seite her auf englisch ab und sie antwortete uns meist auf unverständlichem russisch, aber am Ende kam doch immer das raus was wir wollten. Nun saßen wir ja auch das erste Mal an diesem Tag und es war an der Zeit mal das Erlebte Revue passieren zu lassen. Meine ersten Eindrücke waren, dass alles extrem schick ist. Und zwar ganz anders als in Paris, wo es mehr so eine Lässigkeit hat und mit einem schlemmerischen Genießen einher gehr. ‘Savoir-vire’ halt. Hier ist das alles mehr pompös, edel, ohne überladen und unangenehm protzig zu sein, stilecht eben. Benni meinte, dass er es viel voller erwartet hätte und dass er überrascht ist wie hart laut hier alles ist. Wir waren uns beide einig, dass diese ganzen Bilder erstmal verarbeitet werden müssen und unsere Augen heute nicht mehr großartig aufnahmefähig sein würden. Daher traten wir im Anschluss auch den Heimweg an und haben als Abschluss noch endlich eine Ticketstelle auftreiben können, wo die Dame nach eigenen Angaben wenigstens ein ‘little’ Englisch gesprochen hat und wir uns endlich unser Metro-Wochen-Ticket für 10 € kaufen konnten. Sehr erschöpft, müde und beseelt kamen wir dann in unserer privaten Sauna an und sind schon voller Freude darauf was der morgige Tag alles bringt.  Eine Sache soll zum Schluss noch erwähnt werden, weil es uns einfach permanent im Laufe des Tages immer wieder aufgefallen ist. Die Frauen hier sind so schön und sehen selbst unter 10 Schichten Klamotten noch ausnahmslos schick aus. Außerdem ist das Temperaturempfinden auch sehr anders. Vielleicht fließt in meinen Adern ja auch ein bisschen russisches Blut.
