Considering fragile creatures is on hold until whenever I am inspired to pick it up again, I'm sharing a foundational headcanon for that fic and that's that Jacob’s attachment to "only you" and his implementation of it as a method of making people "strong" is that it was a song mama seed used to sing to him and (and his brothers) and that the music box was a gift from her and its the only thing he has left of her/it was the only thing that he chose to hold onto of his childhood

Be an Example
1 Timothy 4:12 New King James Version || Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. We are able to read about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the patriarchs, the prophets, apostles, teachers and evangelists, the heroes of faith, the people of prayer, and people of consecration, the list can be endless; we are able to read and pick inspiration from their lives because of the exemplary live the lived. Never do or say whatever you would not like to be referred to. Whatever you do is always in the seed state, either good or bad, the good will definitely grow and bear good fruits, which will benefit the lives of people, the same way, the bad will also grow to bear bad fruits which will eventually eat up people. Do you realise how you know people that they have no idea of? The same way people also know you that you have no idea of. Whatever life you are living here on earth, you are either influencing a life in the positive or the negative, trust me! Make up your mind to live a positive exemplary life like how Father Paul was admonishing Son Timothy to be an example to the church, in word, conduct (character), in love, in spirit, faith and in purity. Whatever you do, you will not remain on planet earth, if you do not die, Christ will come for you; so live a life that will be pleasing to your Father in heaven so He will be glorified; shalom! Declaration In the Name of Jesus, I live an exemplary life, by the power of the Holy Ghost, amen! Scripture Study Galatians 5 Read the full article

Jacob the Supplanter - Jacob and Esau
Lesson 9, May 21-27
Tumblr media
Sabbath Afternoon
Read for This Week’s Study: Gen. 25:21-34, Gen. 28:10-22, Gen. 11:1-9, Gen. 29:1-30, Gen. 30:25-32.
Memory Text: “And Esau said, ‘Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has supplanted me these two times. He took away my birthright, and now look, he has taken away my blessing!’ And he said, ‘Have you not reserved a blessing for me?’” (Genesis 27:36, NKJV).
We now pick up on the continued family history of Isaac, the miracle child and early ancestor of the promised seed. The story doesn’t start out particularly well, however. The flawed character of his son Jacob will be manifested in the rivalry between the two brothers over the birthright (Gen. 25:27-34) and consequently over the right to obtain the blessing of Isaac (Genesis 27).
Because Jacob deceives his father and steals the blessing from his older brother, he will have to flee for his life. In exile, God confronts him at Bethel (Gen. 28:10-22). From then on Jacob, the deceiver, will experience some deception himself. Instead of Rachel, whom Jacob loved (Genesis 29), Leah, the older daughter, will be given to Jacob, and he will have to work 14 years to earn his wives.
Yet, Jacob will also experience God’s blessing, for in exile he will have 11 of his sons, and God will increase his wealth.
Thus, whatever else we can see in this story, we can see how God will fulfill His covenant promises, one way or another, regardless of how often His people fail.
Sunday, May 22
Tumblr media
Read Genesis 25:21-34. Compare the two personalities of Jacob and Esau. What qualities of Jacob predisposed him to be worthy of Isaac’s blessing?
Already from their mother’s womb we understand that Jacob and Esau are different and will struggle against each other. While Esau is described as a tough hunter running in the field, Jacob is seen as a “mild” person sitting in the tent and meditating. The Hebrew word tam, translated “mild” (NKJV), is the same verb applied to Job and to Noah, translated “blameless” for Job (Job 1:8, NKJV) and “perfect” for Noah (Gen. 6:9, NKJV).
This difference of character becomes more manifest later in their lives (Gen. 27:1-28:5). When Esau comes home tired and hungry, Jacob cooks him lentils. For Esau, the immediate visible and physical enjoyment of food “this day” (Gen. 25:31) is more important than the future blessing associated with his birthright (compare with Heb. 12:16, 17).
“The promises made to Abraham and confirmed to his son were held by Isaac and Rebekah as the great object of their desires and hopes. With these promises Esau and Jacob were familiar. They were taught to regard the birthright as a matter of great importance, for it included not only an inheritance of worldly wealth but spiritual pre-eminence. He who received it was to be the priest of his family, and in the line of his posterity the Redeemer of the world would come.” — Ellen G. White, Patriarchs and Prophets, p. 177.
For Jacob, in contrast to his brother, the future spiritual significance of blessing is what matters. Yet, later, under the instigation of his mother (see Genesis 27), Jacob openly and purposely deceives his father, even using the name of “the LORD your God” (Gen. 27:20, NKJV) in perpetrating that deception. He does this terrible deception, even though it was for something that he knew was good.
The results were tragic, adding whole new layers of dysfunction to an already dysfunctional family.
Jacob wanted something good, something of value, and that was admirable (especially compared to his brother’s attitude). Yet, he used deception and lies to get it. How can we avoid falling into a similar trap of doing bad so that “good” may come?

Acid on me like the rain (the horrors of war)
character study (2/?); jacob seed
2250 words
Jacob has always been fascinated by wolves.
Fast, strong, agile.
When he was a child, so small and so weak, he used to sneak into the zoo just to watch the wolves.
Majestic, powerful, protectors.
He became one, the very second he ripped Miller's flesh from his broken bones. Alpha kills pup.
Wolves are strong, winners of evolution. They are supposed to lead.
march 1971
Jacob Seed is born on a cold day, the heater inside the small house warms him and his mother.
It is still early, around 10 in the morning.
His father prays a Lord's prayer.
The radio quietly plays Just My Imagination by The Temptations.
Soon, a few weeks later, he grows the red hair of his grandfather.
Jacob doesn't cry a lot in the following months. He is a quiet infant and an even more quiet child, that is easily satisfied.
The old lady that lives next to them buys him a small plush dog the day he is born. She'll die when Jacob is 3 years old.
He wouldn't touch it any more then.
march 1975
He just turned 4. It's his birthday.
He crashed the wooden toy his parents bought him.
No matter how often he tries to explain to his father, that it was an accident – he'll get hit.
It's the first time Jacob's body experiences his father's hard slaps, his belt.
july 1982
If he doesn't follow, he'll get hit.
It's as easy as it sounds. He's used to it.
There's nothing else at home for him, that's his only purpose.
Yesterday he took it for Joseph. Jacob screamed at him later for provoking their father, his back bleeding.
He is so sorry, but he can't communicate it.
This will happen to them frequently the next nine years.
Tomorrow, his back will meet one of the kitchen chairs.
Tearing the scabbed skin apart once again.
december 1988
He feels relief falling off his shoulders, as he pushes Old Man Seed down the stairs.
Jacob looks on his dead body and takes a deep breath.
The man that had him drop out of school.
The man that had strangled his mother minutes ago.
He feels good. Strong, for the first time.
Joseph smiles.
John screams, but Jacob doesn't hear it.
Together, they'll overcome anything, Jacob thinks.
june 1989
He loves to see their farm burn down.
Red flames against a pitch black sky.
Joseph cries, grabs his arm and tries to pull Jacob with him.
Then, Joseph is gone.
John is gone as well.
He hears him scream is name, somewhere far away.
The smoke burns in his eyes.
„Oh boy, what have you done?“, the Sheriff asks calmly, leading him away.
april 1990
He joins the army that month.
The psychologists say, that it could be a way to tame his aggression.
To use it against national enemies and secure safety. To do good.
Better.
They ask him if he could be strong. He won't see them for months.
He is ready, and he will show them.
Jacob knows he can be the strongest, most skilled soldier they have ever seen.
He thought the recruiting would be more prestigious in a way, like the old posters he has seen from World War 2.
Instead, he stands in a long line, outside in a dreary court in the cold.
Excitement rushes through his veins.
Is this, how purpose feels like?
Later, as his boots crush the bones of an unwilling cultist, Jacob thinks about the countless times he had to talk with the psychologists. He is now amused, who they thought it would be a good idea to put a brutal teenager into the army.
He laughs, the man cries.
october 1990
We want you
What do they want them for? Jacob tries to not think about it too much.
He is angry. Still so angry.
His anger, his rage is now externalized and he feels like he has never been to juvenile detention programs.
His blood rushes trough his veins, something in his head commands him to kill.
Like an untamed dog, wolf-like.
He never misses a shot in any training session. He is ready. Strong.
They want a lot from them. Jacob is willing to deliver.
may 1991
He is outstanding at what he does. The high decorated generals call him a talented marksman.
He joins the 82-nd Airborne, target: Kuwait. A real Green Beret.
He is one of the youngest soldiers to lead a whole troop in a secret mission.
First Lieutenant Jacob Seed, one of the youngest marksman that has ever been decorated.
He will soon be there. And then he'll wish himself back to North Carolina, back to Fort Bragg, on the cold yard, in his grey bedroom.
august 1991
It's an ambush. He knew it.
He is thrown against a house as the bomb detonates.
His ears ring, his legs and back hurt. He doesn't know if he can get up, but he has to.
Has to. Has to. He must.
“Lieutenant! I'll get you out of here!”
Someone helps him up.
It's Miller.
Thank God, it's Miller
september 1991
There's dust everywhere. Heat.
No water. No food.
His skin burns, scars from the countless detonations.
Maybe even acid. It stings like hell.
The sunburn doesn't help the healing.
Miller coughs a lot and Jacob is so terribly annoyed by that weak man.
That night, he slits his throat.
It is the night, that erases his emotions in a way, there's a nagging cold spreading in his chest. It makes itself a home in the crater deep down in Jacob's soul.
Miller's flesh tastes disgusting, scraggy and dry. He chokes on it, his stomach rebels.
Jacob keeps his knife. It's an army standard one, red handle.
The number on it burns itself in his brain, in his memory.
It will become the only thing he'll be able to say when he's awake in the middle of the night.
Some things have to broken first, to arise better, stronger.
It is what keeps him going, strength.
september 1991
He arrives at the base. They ask him to identify himself, ask him where the man under his command is that has gone missing. Miller.
Jacob tells them he died due to a heart attack, caused by dehydration.
They believe him. The troop they send out to find his body, comes back with empty hands.
Jacob doesn't feel bad about it, he tells himself.
That night the shaking starts, his bed rattles at night. He can't do shit against it, even when he's awake.
He'll shake, his body moving in the obscene rhythm of grenades and bombs detonating, of gunfire.
In the following week they'll send him home.
When he sees Miller's wife for the first time, he doesn't speak to her. He doesn't approach her.
His stomach burns, Jacob feels like vomiting.
She calls his name, but he isn't a First Lieutenant any longer.
may 1992
Jacob wouldn't have believed anyone who told him, that he would feel welcomed in that Veteran's Hospital.
But he does.
It is mostly because of Joanne, that beautiful, beautiful nurse.
His shaking got better.
He still sees them, the countless men storming into his bedroom at midnight, trying to kill him.
Joanne tells them they aren't real, hallucinations of his fears.
Thank God for Joanne, thank God for getting me out of Kuwait alive
june 1993
The doctors say, that he needs something to do. An occupation.
Maybe drawing, maybe reading.
Drawing reminds him of John, how he used to draw their family as a child.
Happy and smiling.
Jacob asks himself what he is currently doing.
Reading makes him think of James Joyce, that reminds him of Joseph.
How he used to talk about Virginia Wolf and The Great Gatsby.
Jacob asks himself if Joseph is alright.
He picks gardening instead. It soothes him.
He plants tulips for Joanne. Maybe, one day, everything will be alright. He hopes so.
In a decade, he'll be planting white flowers. White flowers of bliss, all around his compound.
july 1993
He's on pain killers and Alprax now.
He sees and hears people everywhere he goes.
They scream and cry, they are bleeding.
Grenades blasting, acid tearing skin apart.
The doctors say, he'll be better soon.
The only thing left is hope.
august 1994
Joanne and he talk a lot by now.
She shows him old music. Music she likes.
They have a lot of old vinyls in the Veteran's hospital. Jacob's favourite one is one from the mid 50s.
It makes him feel less alone, like there is something he has to look forward to.
Only you can make the darkness bright
He doesn't feel alone when she is around.
Jacob doesn't know if this whole thing is supposed to be romantic.
Right now, he's just glad to be surrounded by someone.
november 1994
There's a flew market in the town, not far from the hospital.
He buys a small music box. It plays Only You.
For a mere second, he wonders how they are, what they are doing.
He misses John's genuine laughter.
When had Jacob laughed the last time?
He misses Joseph chatting about the books he read.
What is Joseph reading right now?
Jacob vomits right there, on the street.
An old lady watches him.
january 1995
Jacob asks Joanne out.
Only you
She declines.
That night, his shaking rattles the metal frame of his bed and his screams wake everyone on his floor.
february 1996
He now knows what they are trying to do to him.
They try to tame him.
Weaken him.
Jacob knows it.
He now gets medication to help him with his insomnia.
When he watches the news he seems them, all the soldiers fighting oversea.
He is the lone wolf, an old alpha pushed out of his pack.
He'll find a new one.
october 1997
They release him. Or, he releases himself. Ran out of money.
He'll be fine, he tells himself.
It is hard to find a new home, but the hardest is to find a way back into life.
When he goes grocery shopping, he looks behind is back far too often.
He tries to make out someone hiding behind the colourful packages of cornflakes, inside the shelves.
He glances into every corridor he passes.
Sometimes he sees them, cowering there, waiting for him. Guns loaded, ready to kill him.
He'll be fine, he tells himself.
march 2000
It's a Thursday night.
They are coming for him.
They are coming for him.
He can hear their footsteps on the wooden floor of his tiny apartment.
He is strong. He will kill them.
The ringing of his phone in the kitchen takes him back to reality.
His rifle falls to the floor.
september 2001
Jacob stares at his television.
The Twin Towers. Down. Ashes. Fire.
He feels like he's done it all for nothing.
Like he suffered for nothing.
He was a weapon – for nothing.
Realisation hits him hard, knocks the air out of his chest.
He still is.
His fingers itch. He wants to kill.
That night he goes hiking in the woods and shoots at random targets. Bears. Birds. Trees.
It makes him feel alive again. Jacob doesn't want to know if that is a dangerous sign or not.
The next few years will harden him.
Some things must be broken first, to be born anew, stronger.
june 2008
He still doesn't sleep regularly.
He vomits often, his stomach burns and cramps and he hears Miller's voice when the puke makes his throat hoarse, the taste in his mouth bitter.
He tried to reach out to Joanne. She doesn't work at the Veteran's hospital any more. No one knows where she is right now. It doesn't hurt as much as he expected it to.
He has himself under control. He is the strongest of them all.
april 2010
Jacob is out of the Veteran's program for nearly a decade when he receives a call from the east side, Connecticut.
It's John. He wants him to attend the allocation of the master degree diploma.
He is too ashamed to go.
Mortified by the broken man, shaking and vomiting, holding onto something that pretty surely died in fucking Kuwait.
He is not able to tell John how proud he is of him. He just can't. He opens his mouth and chokes on his own tongue.
I'll call ya, finds its way out instead.
He asks himself if Joseph made it to college somehow as well. Jacob thinks, he would have made it through brilliantly.
july 2011
Jacob is with Joseph now, back in Georgia. Oh, sunny Georgia. Only you
He is tracking down John. He is doing what he excels at.
Joseph tells him, that God helped him out of Kuwait alive.
That it was his test. He is strong enough. Jacob always knew.
Strong, strong, strong.
That he is important to something no one could ever fully understand,
Purpose. Sweet, sweet promise.
Jacob craves it.
Joseph looks horrible, Jacob thinks. He doesn't have the courage to ask him why or what had happened, to take care of him.
He tells himself, that it's no lack of courage, it is a way to harden his younger brother.
november 2013
John looks even worse than Joseph did.
He has a lot of money, but his cheeks are sunken in and his eyes look empty.
Jacob wants to hug him, but he hasn't the courage to do so.
He tells himself, that he is stronger than his emotions and that his brother will soon be stronger as well.
In a few years, he'll notice at midnight, when nightmares kept him awake once again, how he should've done all of that.
march 2014
The pack has a new alpha.
To Jacob, they will obey.
Whitetail Mountains, Montana.
He is going to make them strong.
Not weak like Miller. They will have their purpose.
Nourishing the strong.
Strong like him. The Samson. Samson from the Book of Judges,
Judges, his Judges.
Hunter, his Hunters.
His purpose.
Only you
august 2014
Jacob knows that Joseph understands how The Collapse will work.
Jacob is happy to help, to fulfil his purpose.
Finally he is not screaming at his younger brother, fighting him.
He still knows this guy back from his service at the army.
He'll call him. John will make them succeed.
Thank God for his family
march 2018
When he first sees him, he notices the black hair.
It reminds him of someone, a time he doesn't like thinking about, and his stomach burns.
It rebels like he has to swallow his flesh again, black hair, Miller.
Joseph asks if he could take care of him. Deputy Pratt.
So weak, so pitiful, so stupid.
Yet, he has a purpose.
Jacob feels untameable energy dwelling up inside him.
He has himself pulled together.
It will only hurt a lot.
march 2018
Jacob is not afraid. He is the strongest of them all.
He tries not to think of natural selection.
His heart beats so fast, his lungs don't do what he wants them to do.
Jacob tries not to think of himself as a failure.
There's a burning ache in his back. Like the old kitchen chair.
Jacob tries not to think of his life being at the brink. That it will be over in a blink.
He spits blood.
It hurts a lot. That’s not how he ever imagined dying.
He hopes, he prays, that his family can be strong without him.
He is so afraid, he doesn't want to be alone again.
It is like someone turned all the lights on, it's so bright around him.
Like a bomb detonating.
Then it's all over.
It's only him.
Jacob hopes, he did it alright.
Maybe, for the first time of his life he did well.
Only you, my darling

The Investment of an Antagonist - Part One
Entry 04. [Trigger warning content: post contains discussion of Far Cry 5 details including cannibalism, graphic violence, brainwashing, torture, child abuse mention, neglect, mentioned fatalistic/suicidal character pov, dark backstories, etc. Spoilers naturally. Part 01 of 03.] [Link to part two here.] [Link to part three here.] I was cooking dinner and had the sudden EUREKA moment of trying to figure out what exactly I want with regards to an antagonist for an original fic setting. Originally I was going to have a general state of conflict between two nations/city-states/etc on a larger, more impersonal scale, but that didn’t do anything to really interest me in that level of conflict. So I was thinking on why Far Cry 5′s villains and the conflict interests me so, and the eureka moment was realizing that they as villains have a personal stake in all this, and go about it in ways that are reflective of their stories. Specifically for the Seeds, it has me realizing it’s more interesting to me when the villain is acting due to personal motivations of an emotional nature and/or relating to their belief system, and in ways that compliment those internal motivations that can build out into or off of their backstories and other areas of the tale.
Like, it’s more than just a universally formulaic method of brainwashing for all of the people they kidnap during the Reaping (and before it, since it’s a cult and that means there’s a process of indoctrination, ie brainwashing.) All of the Heralds have their specific manner of doing so, and said methods are tailored to the particulars of each Herald’s backstory as is revealed to us.
— Jacob —
Jacob starves the Deputy and other “recruits,” exposes them to the elements, doesn’t give them enough water, keeps them near hungry and dangerous animals (pre-Judge wolves and Judges it seems.) He then gives them a bowl of raw meat that one can read as implied to be human flesh, particularly if Pratt’s anecdote about going hunting in what ends up being not-a-dream from online sources is taken into consideration, as mentioned in a previous writing-about-writing post. Link here to the audio, (credit and thanks to hopecountyradio,) transcription below: “I had a dream once that Jacob took me on a hunt. We shot some deer and he asked me to skin 'em. As I was cuttin’ ‘em open they changed. It wasn’t deer. I...I don’t think it was a dream.”
Obviously one can make some assumptions of Whitetail Militia imagery being used here, particularly given that one of the slides on the projector screens during the Trials includes a picture of Eli with antlers iirc (that may be only during the later trials or the last one, I am uncertain.) Ties right into the whole “the weak must be culled,” and “you are meat,” slogans Jacob’s got all over the place. The “only you” slogans and graffiti could also serve to foster the loneliness and isolation aspect of making the choice “to make the sacrifice” ie, the symbolic choice of killing Miller, or his surrogate equivalent in the case of everyone else that Jacob puts through his trials. I haven’t seen a lot regarding Miller’s ties to Jacob from in-game content but I could have missed something easily. The wiki labels Miller as Jacob’s friend, though I wish we had more detail on that. Most certainly, Miller was a member of Jacob’s unit, which based off of some reading and browsing on the internet, should still be a pretty close tie whether or not they were friends. The following speculation is based on my own interpretations of the matter and I have no history of serving in the Armed Forces, so if I’m mistaken or such feel free to drop me a line to let me know. Continuing: even if they theoretically hated each other’s guts, they were still a part of the unit, a part of the Army. That means they and their other brothers-in-arms lived together and fought together. They ate as a group, slept as a group, watched each others’ backs while on watch or during a firefight, fought along side each other, and did their best to keep each other alive while fulfilling the mission objective, working together as individuals brought together in a cohesive unit that also was a part of the whole. They all knew they had each others’ backs and that the others did the same for them in turn. Shifting between life-or-death situations and more peaceful times, it creates a bond and social structure that is very unlike most common, modern civilian social structures. There certainly at least seems to be a bit of culture shock in the US between the two environs, and Jacob seems to have experienced that, based on what we hear of his backstory in The Book of Joseph of having little to no support once back in civilian life (ie: deeply traumatized and staying in veteran hospitals until he ran out of money and ended up in homeless shelters) after being discharged from the Army. In the Armed Forces it’s about the group, rather than the individual. Imagine having that, knowing that, after being through all that Jacob has potentially been through. To have brothers in arms if not by blood by his side who he protects, who also protect him against the hostility of the world they’re fighting against. This is not to ding Joseph or John as characters by the way, all three of them were children at that point and shouldn’t have had to deal with any of that. Jacob loses what ties of family he holds dear with his blood brothers once he’s put into Juvie, perhaps makes friends there but is likely on his own once he’s out again, with very poor prospects given his history, and then he enlists. He’s alone and without support before he joins the military, and then suddenly he’s in an environment where there IS a form of support, and it’s predictable and structured down to the last bootlace (note: that’s a very broad statement and does not include variance and personal experiences, nor possible issues with potential power abuse or other flaws that might arise in such group structures.) Imagine Jacob being in the Army long enough to get used to that, to enjoy that aspect of it all, to share the camaraderie of bitching about the heat of the sun, sand in their socks, and getting yet another package of their least favorite MRE while trying to wheedle a trade with someone else for something better. Imagine him doing that with Miller, knowing how the other man likes the sugar cookie desserts in one MRE package and hates how the chocolate bars melt from the desert heat in another. Knowing what each others’ tells and bluffs are from playing poker on their down time while on a tour. Swapping stories about home...and noticing who doesn’t want to talk about the life they had before enlisting. Talking about the things they miss, the people they miss. Knowing who snores, who’s a light sleeper, all those things you learn when you’re in close proximity to a person for perhaps up to two years or so depending on deployment length. It could also be they’ve been deployed together more than once, as Jacob certainly went out on multiple tours per The Book of Joseph once again. Imagine Jacob knowing all of that and more about Miller. Then, day after day after day of being lost in the desert, with starvation eating away at their rationality, that hollow pain in their guts as their bodies start burning through their own cells and reserves to try to stay alive, running out of water and having to take chances with any drinking source they can find in the environment and having to expend precious energy to try or die early from dehydration, probably not sleeping well from the hunger, exhaustion, stress, possible enemy presence, dangerous wildlife... The brain starts shutting down real quick once we don’t have the resources it needs to run optimally. Some faster than others, but in Jacob and Miller’s case, their ordeal is definitely long enough to put them into that mindset of feeling that primal fear of a slow death by famine, weakness, scarcity. The psychological toll would have been heavy without a doubt, and that might’ve been compounded by experiences in Jacob’s childhood if his parents were not dutiful in buying food more regularly, which easily could be the case. Old Mad Seed needs more whiskey this month to fuel his raging, drunken fits of spewing biblical verses in a tyrannical fashion? There goes the money for the last few days of food. Easily could be how Jacob got into stealing candy (and likely also food in that case) for himself and his brothers. So Jacob would have a good idea of some of what’s coming down the pipe in that case. He knows how long the trip is, can reckon how fast the two can travel. Maybe he starts out hopeful in a grim way to start... ...but over time as things get more and more desperate (and it could be a familiar desperation he’s felt before as a kid going hungry, only worse,) “And I looked at Miller and I could tell we were as good as dead. And I accepted that. And in that acceptance...came clarity.” That clarity could very well be that Jacob decided that morality was futile if it meant you didn’t survive, which could very well be a very world-breaking revelation for him, since he is mentioned in his backstory to have had a praiseworthy sense of honor among other things. Certainly is potentially spirit breaking to go from being the older brother, the brother-in-arms who relied on and was relied on, who was trusted, to being a betrayer of that trust. A Judas, one could say, as he calls Pratt in his video after Pratt has helped the Deputy escape. And what does Jacob make the Deputy become, in relation to Eli? Eli, the man the Deputy was rescued by, was aided by, has been working alongside this entire time. Eli, who trusts and relies on the Deputy. Eli, who it could be said betrayed Jacob’s friendship with him by choosing not to hand over the Whitetail Militia and join Eden’s Gate (from Jacob’s perspective, based on his final fight dialogue.) “Hey. Only you could have gotten this close. Only you could have earned his trust. It was always only ever you. Good work. You did it. You passed your test. You made your sacrifice. But now...you’re alone. And you’re weak. And we know what happens to the weak.” That might seem contradictory at first, since in theory making the sacrifice should make one “strong” by Jacob’s line of reasoning, one might think. But the Deputy is a “traitor” now—to the Whitetail Militia by brainwashing (temporarily as we the audience know, pending Jacob’s death,) and to Jacob by choice, if one takes the following lines from Jacob into consideration: “You’ve forgotten your purpose, Deputy. You were on the path of the Chosen but now you’ve strayed. Fear did this to you, but don’t worry, I can help with that. I can remove your fear and give you strength. It’s not too late. Come back to me. Remember your purpose.” ”Deputy, know that I still have hope for you, but if you continue to support Eli and his merry band of cowards, that hope will cease to exist. Your judgement is cloudy because your mind is weak, but I have confidence you’ll make the right choice in the end. If not—you’ll all pay in blood.” Link to the audio for the above two lines here (credit and appreciation to hopecountyradio once more.) As with the other Seeds, Jacob starts out trying to persuade the Deputy to “see the light” and join the Project, but as with all of them, as the resistance meter rises and we draw closer to the final confrontation with him, he and the others abandon that idea in favor of trying to end the Deputy instead. So in this possible interpretation, it could be that Jacob views both the Deputy and Eli as traitors both. However...the two situations while both likely quite weighty with the Deputy being “the chosen one” to kick off the Collapse (or a herald of the Collapse if one wants to be cute with wording,) and Eli being an ex-good-friend or perhaps even ex-best-friend of Jacob’s, are potentially vastly different in emotional weight to Jacob. The Deputy is all tied up with this Collapse business, and while Jacob isn’t sure if Joseph talks to God, he does support him, what with being a Herald in the cult and all that. It involves the fate of the family, and in particular, Jacob’s family—his brothers and sister. Eli, however, Jacob has known for a while, likely years, back during the construction of the bunkers which Eli helped with, possibly and likely before then. I personally lean towards interpreting that as they struck up the beginning of a friendship, and Jacob hired Eli and his crew to help with the construction of the cult’s bunkers. Where they had their falling out is less clear as far as I’m aware. It could be it was during or after construction that Eli got a bad feeling about all of this Eden’s Gate business, or perhaps even as late as the beginning of the Reaping if that’s when Jacob gave Eli the “chance” to hand over his Whitetail Militia members, as mentioned in his final boss battle red-bliss section. That could’ve been the breaking point for Jacob and Eli, and if Jacob was expecting Eli to side with him due to friendship and perhaps some shared beliefs...perhaps Jacob took that...poorly. And by poorly I mean went full out on revenge of having Eli killed by betrayal of someone he’d chosen to trust—someone that Jacob had already gotten his hooks into. Someone Eli needed, in this fight against Jacob. Someone like the Deputy. The Deputy, who’s been put through starvation, exposure, and ingrained through conditioning and likely a liberal use of Bliss to facilitate said conditioning, to hunt. To train. To kill. To sacrifice. “You take away a man’s basic needs, and he will revert to his primordial instinct in just ten days.” [Chuckles.] “Ah, that’s a difficult thing to understand unless you’ve lived it...” This is what Jacob is putting the “recruits” and the Deputy through—his revelation. His experience. His choice. In the end as Jacob succumbs to his injuries, he is weak, he is dying, and he knows it, looking at the Deputy in his final scene. This time, he is the one who is sacrificed, by the Deputy, and in Jacob’s eyes by Joseph, to either try to end the chaos spread across the county, or to break a seal respectively. Jacob’s death is a means to an end—as Miller’s was. And Jacob “accepts that,” as he puts it. Does he accept it because now he’s betrayed the trust and faith of potentially two people he might’ve been close to? Miller, and then Eli? Is Jacob conditioning the Deputy during that red-bliss sequence of his boss fight to kill Jacob, based on how there are bliss-hallucinations of Jacob to shoot while destroying the beacons? There’s the generic Whitetail fighter, Judges, and Jacob himself scattered across the landscape before ending that sequence as far as I’m aware. Both Jacob and the Whitetail fighter present could be interpreted in this line of thinking as echoing the supposed betrayal of both sides and being “alone” against the world in a nightmarish fashion while Jacob potentially tries to break the Deputy through talking and said nightmare. The way Jacob talks though...is he strictly speaking to us, or is the Deputy actually a mirror as it were, with the things Jacob says being applicable to himself? “Don’t you find it ironic that everyone you try to help ends up worse off? Eli...Pratt...Tragedy just follows you. If you really wanted to keep people safe, be a hero...you’d just off yourself. Safer for everyone that way.” Is Jacob REALLY talking to us, or to himself through a medium? Through a glass darkly, as it were. He “tried” to “help” Eli and Pratt, in his twisted fashion, by trying to get Eli previously to join the Project and to make Pratt strong enough via brainwashing to also join the Project, which in Jacob’s perspective if he’s following his and Joseph’s dogma, is the only way to survive the Collapse. But Jacob has failed, repeatedly, to protect the people he held dear—his family. His friends. He’s become the threat they need protecting from. He has irrevocably perhaps proven to himself that under the right circumstances? He’s willing to betray people he holds dear for his own survival. Would he betray his family? That is the question, isn’t it. Perhaps Jacob fears finding out. Maybe he fears, that under the right circumstances, he would. Maybe that’s why he goes so willingly to be Joseph’s sacrifice, in part. Maybe having orchestrated Eli’s death, the death of yet one more person whom he was once friends with, yet one more person Jacob himself has betrayed, maybe Jacob doesn’t want to continue either. Maybe that’s the last straw, the nail in the coffin of underlying beliefs that Jacob is inherently not someone who can be fully trusted. Maybe he genuinely thought Eli would join him if given the chance. Maybe Jacob was still hollow and brittle as hell from the first time he’d killed a friend, when he killed Miller. All the Seeds bear the weight of their pasts heavily, and Jacob’s no exception. Jacob survived the first time, barely. He survived the second time, but not by long. He starts talking about his potential death at the Deputy’s hands quite early on during the red-bliss segment. Neither John nor Faith nor Joseph to my knowledge do so. Maybe he was waiting for the Deputy to be strong enough to finish what no one else could. Maybe that was what he wanted. “There’s no “win” for you here. It all ends bloody. For everyone. You die now, or you die later. It’s up to you. But either way? You won’t die a hero.” Perhaps that line from Jacob also is one of the things he fears most—dying without purpose. Dying being not a hero, a person who’s done good for others, but rather the opposite. Ironically so, given that he and his family are all in the torture and brainwashing business, but Jacob in particular gave up on being a good person a long time ago, I think, even by the cult’s standards. Out of all of the Seed siblings, which is most tolerable to you? Could you see yourself with them?
SEND MY MUSE ANONS ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIPS /accepting!| anon
- OOF It will be quite a half-ooc post because it will be the first time when I will be writing something about Mercy and shipping her. I can already feel the stake that I will burn on ( I will even set the fire myself ) .
“ Me with Seed’s? Well, I see myself dead around them for sure…”  - Mercy 2019r.
Where so start for Mercy dating any of the Seed’s seems like the most absurd idea, mostly because they basically want her dead. After the helicopter crash, everything changed in Mercy life and how she perceived the Seed’s family.
But we all have our little otp’s and with shame, I will admit that I have myself one too that consider Mercy and one of the Seed’s. To answer the question which one is the most tolerable sadly it is Jacob Seed.  ( I can already feel the fire starting to rise ) . Now why him. When I think about shipping them the first, thing that comes to my mind is that she loves to annoy him. No matter on what topic she will always find the best joke or pun to insult him.
Mercy simply isn’t afraid of Jacob or the mini army that follows him around. Each time when Gram meets Jacob or talks with him through the radio, she tries to understand his perspective on the world or the way he acts. Even if it end’s on cracking a bad joke and running away from the pack of judges. Why? Because she’s not afraid of dying in the fight against him.
When it comes to shipping them, I don’t see them as romantically partners but more like people who talk even if they don’t like each other but something is connecting them in a weird way.  It’s like the most awful chemistry created. If they relation would ever go more romantic or sexual in any way, I don’t know if Mercy would take the risk that this would bring.  Letting herself step into the rabbit hole of relationship with him would ruin the trust she tired to build up with people of Hope Country. Even if Mercy tries to play a person who doesn’t take anybody side just the one she thinks is right, she can’t let the people down.
By stepping into the relationship with an enemy for both of them it would only bring a disadvantage. Maybe if the history went differently for them something would change.
But for now, it’s like the forbidden fruit they simply can’t have it.

favorite headcanons (and theorys?) of glee that i created
i was thinking if i really was going to write this, but im bored so lets go, this got so long and i am so sorry (not really it was fun and i liked it, if you like big metas you probably gonna like this)
*this can have some triggers for some people because i will be talking about bullying, abandonment, depression and violence*
(also i would like to say that most of this are things that i like to believe happened, and idk if the rest of the fandom agrees or if someone said it before and this is all blaine related, i left it glee on the title because it sounded better idk)
- blaine's dad is filipino and he left after blaine came out
i know that blaine said he was there in shooting stars, but hear me out
first of all, to me his name is tod anderson, dont ask me why it just makes sense and i like how it sounds.... so
in sexy, blaine tells burt that his dad tried many times bonding with him, but apparently that didnt work, because he also says "you think my dad built a car with me because he loves cars? i think he did it because he thought getting my hands dirty might make me straight." and after 4x18, he is never mentioned again? and he wasnt on his son's wedding too
so my theory here is that he never accepted that blaine is gay, and all of his "efforts of bonding" were actually because he thought he could "fix" blaine, and when that didnt worked he left, (that also explains blaine's abandonment issues) but he did came back im the shooting episode because he felt guilty for what he did, but after he saw it was a false alarme he went back on pretending he didnt have a gay son
to be really honest sometimes i pretend that his dad wasnt on the shooting day because i feel that it doesnt fit that well into this and i really like this one because its kinda obvious to me that blaine have daddy issues??? so usually i just put on my character-backstory that blaines dad left after he came out and never came back
for the first year that he was gone, blaine spended every night trying to contact him. sometimes he just texted, but most of the times he called and left a message crying begging him to come back and tell him what he'd done that made his father hate him so much, his dad never called or texted back
- blaine's parents
(im not sure if this is canon but blaine's mom is named pam)
i know that technically i've already talked about blaine's family when i was talking about his dad but that is so complex i felt i had to do a topic exclusive for that
i believe blaine has and always had a good relationship with his mother, yes she was usually gone because she works selling a really famous cosmetic line she created (to me the andersons are a really known name) that would explain how blaine could study in a school like dalton (he said so himself that dalton isnt a school that anyone could afford), and why she is never there
but despite her being busy with her job, she always tried to keep im touch with blaine, texting him, and calling and skyping
blaine always missed her, but he tried to not make her feel guilty about working too much, because she loves her job
sometimes he got really depressed, because he wished she could be there to see him sing with his friends, or just be there so that he could hang out with his mom like all of his friends did with their parents
his das was a businessman, i dont know why it just fits to me, also idk what kind of business because i dont understand any of it so thats up to imagination
before he came out, he and his dad were super close, sure his dad a lot of the time was busy but he was at home more than his mom, his dad was the one that introduced him to liking sports, and they always watched games together (cooper would join in too) and his dad always let him have a sip of his beer, blaine always loved those moments and his dad was like a hero to him, he was sure that coming out to him would be easy, because he would love him no matter what
all of the andersons have always been brodway babys, all 4 of them liked to sing, tod was a little bit more serious and didnt dance around the house like cooper, blaine and pam but he enjoyed seeing them having fun
the andersons were like the perfect family of the neirbourhood, all 4 of them are very good looking, talented and educated so yes everybody thought they were perfect
they all lived in the philippines until blaine was 5, and then moved to ohio because tod got a really good job offer there
after blaine came out, his parents argued A LOT. tod would ask himself and pam of what he had done wrong and pam would say its nobodys fault and thats just how blaine is
(to me that was the time tod was revealed to be an asshole and not long after he divorced pam and stoped talking to all of them, except for cooper, he and cooper still talked)
- blaine's bullying
the bullying blaine went through was a lot like kurt's, people laughing at him, shoving him around, beating him up, etc
he tried putting a brave face through it but he started losing all of his light, even more when all of his complains didnt matter at all
it only got sort of better when he met skylar (thats the kid he went to sadie hawkings with, i read in a fic that was his name and stuck with me so im calling him skylar)
skylar was going through the same thing he was, and one time blaine saw him getting shoved at lockers, and helped him pick up his books and thats were they started talking
maybe they liked each other, they never got to find out because after the bash, skylar never spoke to blaine again
blaine was in a 2 week coma after getting beat up, and the first thing he said when he woke up was "where's my dad" and his mom had to gently tell him his das was not there. that was when blaine realized he actually meant nothing to his dad and that broken him even more
he was bashed about 3 months after his father left him, and for the rest of that school year he was homeschooled by a teacher his mother hired
- blaine joining dalton and the warblers
so, since blaine is a year younger than kurt, in my head goes sorta of like this
he came out when he was 13, that was the time he was bullied, beaten up abandoned and homeschooled, and he joined dalton when he was 14, but to be a warbler he had to be a little older than that, so he had to audition to join (im guessing you dont have to audition to be a warbler, just to have a lead, i mean kurt didnt auditioned, right?) and and trent auditioned together, they became friends and were roomates (dalton is a boarding school DONT @ ME EVERYBODY KNOWS ITS TRUE)
it took blaine a while to take the step to audition, because he was still scared, but wes and david helped him and gave him a little seed of the confidence he pretends to have later on, but when he sang for the warblers for the first time they were all blowed away by how good was his singing voice even if he was only 14
after he felt comfortable in the warblers, he became friends with nick and jeff, and they were a trio of dumbassess, wes and david (usually the most mature of all the warblers) sighed everytime they saw nick, jeff and blaine doing something stupid
trent joined in sometimes but he always had been a really chill dude, and he saw blaine as a older brother (even tho blaine is younger than him)
jeff, nick and blaine pulled pranks on wes and david like hiding stuff from them and act all inocent when they asked if they saw said thing
the warblers had a bet going on how long would it take for kurt and blaine to start dating (and yes all of them shipped klaine, and even after kurt and blaine went to mckinley the warblers still kept hearing about them and seeing them on jacob ben israel's blog)
jeff, nick, trent, wes and david were the only real friends blaine had there
wes and david has already gratuated when the slushie happened, and nick, jeff and trent all apologized to blaine after that (even though they had no idea that was gonna happen) but their friendship was never the same
- blaine and cooper's relationship
as we know, blaine and cooper didnt got very along when blaine was growing up, cooper is 9 years older than blaine, and has always been really hard on him and thaat made blaine really dislike cooper, even tho he really wanted for them to be friends, he always has bitter feelings towards him duo to all of the pressure and expectation he was under because cooper was the oldest, and blaine felt like he had to be just as good or better than him, so he also had a lot A LOT of jealousy
but that started to change after "big brother", when they talk things out, cooper finally realizes how blaine feels, and starts doing his best to be best brother to blaine
they dont become besties immediatly, blaine helps him with his audition (which makes kurt really proud and happy seeing cooper being all excited talking to blaine, while blaine is trying to pretend like hes cool but actually hes just as excited), and they start to talk more and more after that
after finn dies is when they start getting actually close, after the funeral, he calls cooper but dosent say the reason why, he just says that he loves him and that he misses his big brother, they call and talk to each other a lot more after cooper finds out about finn
when cooper has a son, he and blaine teach the little guy how to dance and they play a lot of happy and fun piano songs to him
- the anderhummel family
blaine and burt are actually really close, they both like sports and beer so they watch games together and bet about whos gonna win, burt sorta of became the dad blaine lost, but in a non weird way, because they both agreed that blaine calling burt "dad" after he married kurt was just... weird
finn and blaine played a lot of videogames together, sam and puck played with them too, but when kurt was helping on dinner or more interested in a magazine or trying to convince carole to let him do a makeover on her, finn and blaine played videogames and maybe sometimes gossip about kurt and rachel (after he became besties with sam he did that same thing but hey playing videogames and talking about your s/o is fun!)
carole took care of blaine when he was in the hospital for the eye surgery, and when he was hangover at kurt's after biota she helped him with all the vomiting and headaches and all of that
pam met carole and burt when blaine got slushied, blaine was already like family to the hudson-hummels at that point, so when burt found out what happened he ran to the hospital, (carole was already working there anyway) and thats where they met, it wasnt ideal and all of them wete stressed and worried but they got along pretty well
pam, burt and carole werent really close since pam was usually out working, but the few times they sat down to talk to each other they really liked. pam thinks burt and carole are a sweet couple, that raised two wondeful boys and burt and carole think that pam is a sweet and funny lady, they all exchanged embarassing stories about kurt and blaine (that made them go "MOM DONT TELL THEM THAT" or "DAS STOP I WAS 7")
pam absolutely adores kurt, he was fascinated when he found out she had a line of cosmetics and spended hours talking to her about skincare routines
blaine can always make carole laugh, she thinks hes a sweetheart and usually keeps burt from bursting into the room when the door of kurts bedroom is closed ("i told them already, leave at least 2 inches open, is that really so hard??" "honey, relax they're just watching a movie" "im going in there" "no you're not leave the boys alone")
burt has walked in a few times on klaine making out on the couch and he always makes a joke about it to not make it awkward
burt was thrillled to know he was gonna be a grandpa, and he spoils tracy anderson to OBLIVION (blaine doesnt argues because he sorta of does the same thing)
even after both breakups, burt and blaine had always kept in touch, maybe it wasnt what it used to be when he and kurt were still mad at each other, but once they go back being friends, blaine is a little more comfortable in hangin out with the hudson-family
- blaine's depression in s6
i think is canon thay blaine had depression and anxiety during the whole show, right? it just got worse in s6 because kurt breaking up with him was sort of what pulled the trigger
it begun when his father neglected him, and it only got worse and worse, he was abandoned by his father and sometimes felt like by his mother and brother too, he had anxiety and it got worse after sadie hawkings, then kurt and him broke up for the first time, and he kept bottling it all up until it all reached the boiling point and it all exploded when kurt broke up with him
(side note, i think that when kurt started pulling away from him in s6, it reminded him of his dad pulling away too, his dad tried to bond with him but i feel that as harder blaine tried to make his dad stay, didnt matter and his dad kept pulling away until he was gone, that makes a parallel to s6 breakup, and why blaine was trying so SO hard to make kurt stay, because he had been there before, and he wasnt good enough for his dad, and he really wanted to be good enough for kurt)
so, after they breakup, blaine stays in a cheap hotel, not getting out of bed and feeling empty inside, his phone buzzed a little with missing calls from his friends but at some point the batery died and he just ignored, he only charged after 2 days because he probably had to let people know he's still alive
he went back to the loft in the afternoon, because he knew kurt wouldn't be there, he was going away and leaving nothing behind when kurt showed up, blaine was kinda of embarassed because he was probably stinking and his hair and clothes were a mess
im not sure if they talked at all after the breakup night, but i kinda feel that blaine might have said to kurt something like "you think i'm broken? when are gonna realize the problem here isnt just me? i should have known, everytime things get serious and scary between us you run, you're so afraid of something and honestly i have no idea of what, please just stay away from me" (i dont knooow he was angry and being all cold to kurt and shit i think that happened and maybe thats what made kurt go to therapy)
he got kicked out of nyada because he didnt left his hotel room for anything other than food, and he felt even more lost after receiving the email saying he was no longer a student there, thats when he decided to go back to lima
in lima, he barely left his room, he didnt ate for days and when he wasnt crying he was sleeping, his friends would call, text and sometimes try to visit him but he never texted back, answered the calls or opened the doors for them, sam was the only one that had some success because he was living in lima too and could go to blaine's house more often, sometimes he got lucky and blaine would open the door for him
at first he tried to do pep talks to help his bestie get better, but nothing helped so at one point he just sat there with blaine and did nothing with him, because at least like that he wouldnt be alone
one day blaine felt a little better and started trying to be okay again, it was never easy but he got a job at breadsticks, and even tho he would much rather be in his bed he kept working because at least like that his mind was busy with something
after he started therapy, he still felt empty inside, the world was still sorta of grey to him and he didnt felt like doing anything, so he had to take meds for that, and kept taking them even after kurt cane back (but as blaine was getting better they slowly became less and less needed)
when blaine started working at dalton, he was already in a much better place that he was when he came back, and throughout s6 he was still battling depression, and wasnt always okay, sometimes he would still want to just be alone and dont talk to anybody or do anything, and if that happened when he was surronded with people he would just be more quiet, that sometimes got rachel and kurt's attention, because they're not used to this "new" blaine and when they asked him if he was doing okay he would just say "yeah, im just tired" sam later on explained to them what that usually meant, it meant that blaine needed some alone time because he was draining himself a lot
- blaine at nyada vs blaine at nyu
soooo i have a good theory about this one, at nyada blaine was constantly surronded by people who would probably kill someone to get at the top, to be the best
and was such a competitive place, that ended up being toxic for blaine. i used to think that he didnt fit there because he always was one of the best in show choir and dalton and he was always *that* guy, but now i think he didnt fit there because actually he dosent like competition that much
okay, sure, playful competiton with your friends its fun, show choir competiton is fun, fighting with tina, mercedes, rachel, santana and unique about solos was fun because it was serious but he was with his friends so okay, whatever
but the competition they had at nyada was just SO MUCH, and lets agree nyada is kinda of a toxic place in general, people made fun of kurts face and clothing there, rachel's "friends" ditched her when she lost the diva off to kurt and started kissing up to him, and (im not sure about this one but like 99%) people laughed when blaine lost to kurt at combat's class
my point is, in nyada, people only like you if you do well in classes, there's a lot of lying and backstabbing going on and c'mon blaine pratically grew up like this with cooper
always not good enough, always behind, always made fun of, never being great at anything, so maybe thats why blaine felt so stressed at nyada, and why he gets so insecure in 5x16, seeing kurt being praised and getting all of that attention might have reminded him of the years he and cooper didnt get along so well
he didnt found himself at nyada, mostly he was there because it was said to be the best school and rachel and kurt were there, so great, right?
but i get the feeling that at nyu things were a little lighter, not easier, but lighter, it didnt had so much toxic people, it wasnt a place where it was kill or be killed, people helped each other when needed and yes there was still competition, obviously but (almost) nobody made fun of people for failing
(i said almost there because im sure there was some douchbags there too, they're everywhere, but i hope you got my point)
- blaine's friendships
i am almost done i am so sorry this is so long i've been here for like 2 hours
i have some small headcanons about blaine's friends, because we did NOT get enough of his friendships (im leaving kurt out of this one because maybe one day ill do a meta/hc/theory about klaine....... maybe)
mike and blaine were besties on s3
they both like to dance and sometimes they+brittany would do a dance number together, sometimes for the glee club to see, sometimes only to themselves because thats fun
mike talked with blaine after the its not right but its okay number to see what happened and if he was okay (actually it was mostly blaine just venting about it "AND THEN HE SAID HE WANTED TO MAKE KURTS VOICE HIS RINGTONE I MEAN WHAT THE FUCK????????")
blaine talked to mike about mike's dad because he knew what mike was going through and they both agreed thay family sucks sometimes
after mike graduated he and blaine kept têxtil each other and sometimes sending gifs or videos of dance moves to each other
santana and blaine were actually really good friends
after the glee club found out about what santana's grandmother had done when she came out, when they were alone blaine told santana about his dad, even tho he was afraid she was gonna tell everyone because he doesnt like talking about it, just so that she would know that shes not alone and its not her fault, santana never once teased or told anyone about this, she always sorta of liked him and thought he was nice but that moment she started seeing him as a friend
while preparing for the new directions vs warblers in 3x11, santana tried helping blaine bring out his inner bad boy, she helped him pick his outfit and they planned together the whole performance
(im stealing this one from a post i rebloged i guess a day ago? i didnt found the blog to tag but this is the post) > santana and blaine are friends on facebook, and follow each other on twitter and instagram, and they always spam on each others profiles because they're comfortable to do that with each other
santana kinda sees blaine as a male version of brittany, so she has this need of protecting him (which is kinda why she was super invested in getting him justice for his eye)
speaking of his eye, when he was at home before surgery, santana went there and told that she was gonna make sebastian confess what he'd put on thr slushie, blaine asked her how she knew where she lived but she cut him off, she also came back there after and told him everything, and she and kurt asked him what he wanted to do about it
brittany and blaine really were sunshine twins
they always liked each other, blaine didnt get her at first, but he got used to it
she always talked to him about cats, and what lord tubbington was up to, she tried inviting him to fondue for 2 but he knew that she would ask some really private questions so he always came up with an excuse
after he almost went back to dalton, she (alongside with tina, sam and marley) tried to make him feel as welcome as possible
when she was dating sam, sometimes the three of them would go to her house after school and cuddle in her bed with lord tubbington while watching a movie
when britt was planning their weddings, she asked blaine to try up some suits (with the excuse that she wasnt sure the one she picked was right), but she asked him that like a day after he kissed kurt at rachels party so she could tell he was kinda sad and asked him why, he told her and she said it was gonna be okay because their love was magical (it was weird but it did made blaine feel good, so...) she was also the only person he told that
blaine and britt always have ideas like "we should totally put glitter in the entire room to celebrate our wedding aniversary!" kurt and santana shut down the idea at the same time
blamtina were like 3 chaotic brothers
sam and blaine would have a dumb idea that would result in absolute chaos (but funny tho) and tina always plays along with them even if she thinks its a bad idea
the three of them are completely harry potter nerds, sam and blaine are hufflepuffs while tina is a ravenclaw, in a halloween party in s4 they went as the golden trio
after graduation, sam and blaine still skyped tina and told her all about ny, and she would tell them all about her collage
sam kept his promise of sending his imitations to tina and blaine sometimes would call her to vent about a fight he and kurt had
blaine read all of the harry potter books to sam
after sam talked blaine into staying at mckinley, sam and tina would always be with blaine, always talking to him, and spending time with him, thats how the 3 of them got so close
marley and blaine were good friends
when marley joined the new directions, blaine was one of the first to make her feel welcome
when blaine almost left for dalton, she tried make him see that she liked him in the nd too, and would randomly start talking to him so that he wouldnt feel alone
she would rant about jake to him sometimes, like how he wanted to have sex but she wasnt ready, and blaine told her she should do it only when she felt comfortable
after she got suspended, he apologized for yelling at her because of the performance, and remembered mr schue that she was recovering from an eating desorder and that he shouldnt be so hard at her
unique and blaine were "frenemies"
they started off not liking each other, since they both wanted it to be the new rachel, even after blaine won, he and unique still were kinda competitive with each other
but eventually they became sort-of-friends, they sang together sometimes when no one else was there, and they liked to pretend to not like each other but yes they did and it was just their thing
sometimes marley would do a sleepover and she would call blaine, unique and tina, while marley was talking about jake or tina was talking about missing mike, blaine would braid unique's wig and she would try to convince him to let her see his hair without gel
when the whole plot of unique and the bathroom happened, when mr schue told everyone he couldnt give up twerking, blaine stood up for unique saying that wasnt fair and mr schue should try harder to help her, he also held her hand (alongside with marley) when she was scared of having to go to the bathroom again
blaine and mercedes talked to each other more than twice :O
lol ok im not sorry for that title
mercedes and blaine LIVED together people, she used to be kurts best friend, and sams girlfriend are you telling me they barely talked to each other? no
in fact, they really like each other's company, blaine is kinda of a goofball and mercedes thinks its funny
he would ask her to talk to sam when blaine wanted something from him, and mercedes did the same with kurt
sam and blaine would do stupid things together (like dance around their house in their underwear) just to make mercedes laugh, they swore to never tell anyone, and they never did
sometimes at 3 am when no one could sleep they would all have a little dance party until they got tired
blaine and mercedes are junky food addicts, they eat healthy and stuff but they love some cake at 5 in the morning
one time when kurt and mercedes were arguing about the tots, blaine sided with mercedes and told her he agreed that tots are delicious

[20 Question Fic Writer Tag]
Tagged by my darling @milfeivor. I may not have written consistently in months but BOY do I like talking about it.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Twelve
2. What is your AO3 word count?
122,303
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Well I'm not writing much at all at the moment (bad menty health innit) but over the last year it's been pretty much entirely Top Gun Maverick, with some Assassin's Creed in the background just for funsies
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Quiet Promises (TGM) - 418
For Those We Left Behind  (ACV) - 383
Calefaction (TGM) - 292
Attrition (ACV) - 225
When We Collide (We Come Together) (TGM) - 184
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I try to respond to every comment I get because I think it's common courtesy when someone's taken the time and effort to leave one. I'm a little bit out of practice though (kiss kiss kiss grovel grovel grovel @ those left on read in my inbox)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Blessed Are The Meek (FC5) maybe? A canon-compliant character study of Jacob Seed and his fucked up cult family has no iteration where things turn out well in the end.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't know actually - maybe Quiet Promises because I just really enjoy that ending and it's one of the only bits of published fic I've written I can reread and not want to edit more. If I ever finished writing the last chapter of Swim Until You Can't See Land it would probably be that but I'm just so very very lazy.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I had a tumblr anon one give me shit for not putting icemav in a fic but it was so fuckin weird to get I just deleted the ask. My brother/sister/comrade in christ I am the most niche rarepair stay-in-my-lane kind of fic writer. I am not a popular author in any fandom I write in. Why on earth would you think I care.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I try to write smut once a year when Eurovision sends me into my annual bisexual frenzy. It's not very good (my smut, not Eurovision)
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Short answer is no. Long answer is no with the exception of a Pacific Rim/Assassin's Creed crossover which I keep as a never-to-publish deliriously self-indulgent writing exercise to dip into when I don't feel like being perceived through words. I've got a whole Hytham/Jacob thing going that I'm fucking feral for which is soooooooo big brained of me imo.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I'm aware of. I've read fics before where I can pick up a clear influence from my work on theirs but nothing like a straight up copy + paste.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nah. I've considered translating my own fics into Scots but it feels like a lot of effort for the sprinkle of folks who might read it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No but I wouldn't be against it. I did a lot of rp writing back in the day with OCs and I really liked the collaborative aspect of it.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I don't pick favourites I love all my insane children equally. I will say most ships I gravitate towards have a doomed by the narrative / love doesn't conquer all but it's enough in the moment kind of dynamic and I can trace that back to some of my early favourites (Ten/Rose, Merthur) to now (Kassidas, Eivor/Vili, RebelCaptain, so on)
15. What's a WIP you'd like to finish but doubt you ever will?
For Those We Left Behind. I have a lot of love for that fic but it is very reflective of the time in my life when I started writing it (bouncing off the walls bored out my tits under lockdown.) Lots of enthusiasm and energy to pour into it but little patience or planning. I look back on it as an unwieldy, rambly thing. I still do pick at it (and want to keep updating) but if we're honest I don't think I'll ever quite reach the finish line beyond the pieces that are already firmed up in my head.
16. What are your writing strengths?
I can turn a tasty metaphor on occasion. I tend to think I have a strong handle on the characters I write the perspective of and put a lot of effort into making them feel true and honest to the source material.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot - there's a reason why I tend to write canon compliant/canon adjacent and it's because it gives me the bones of the canon to work from. Pacing is a perpetual struggle. My attempts at smut are laughable.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it's done to serve a narrative purpose and/or show something about a character, sure why not. Absolutely abhor written out accents though (unless, again, for a very specific narrative/character purpose.)
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Harry Potter and Stargate. There's probably still some 12/13 year-old Reiver fic floating around in the internet ether that I hope no one is ever subjected to again.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I honestly don't have one - everything I've published I've loved at one point or another for a variety of reasons. Gun to my head I'll say Quiet Promises because I think it's one of the highest quality fics in my catalogue from an editing, pacing, and character perspective. Writing isn't about the technical skill to me though, it's about how it makes me feel and the audience feel, so no favourites here.
Tagging is still dogshit on desktop so consider this an open tag to anyone who wants to do it (but @ me I'm so nosy and want to read the responses)

This is a series of asks bc, while I do LIKE all the charas of Fantastic Beasts individually, much of the romantic pairings dont sit well with me. By that mean the messy love polygon w Newt & I think I finally figured out why & I'd like another's opinion on it. For starters, Newt's attraction with Tina is too fast for me considering he was friends w Leta, got expelled out of Hogwarts for Leta, carried Leta's photo in his case, & basically loved her for YEARS. But this is all undone by a [1]
jaunt in NY having met a woman, who he admittedly went on a huge adventure w, over the course of maybe a few weeks. He's so taken w her she replaces Leta's photo w her own &, after refusing to go to Paris for Dumbledore, leaves immediately once he finds out she's there. I just find this unbelievable. I can rationalize it from Newt's perspective where Tina is a fresh breeze sweeping into his life on (percieved) unrequited pining, but this is my conjecture based on my understanding of Newt. [2]
The audience shouldnt be left to rationalize endgame couple of the mc on their own. & the whole thing w Leta is so messily handled I dont think they can save it even if they bring her back in FB3. How she feels for Newt vs Theseus & unresolved lingering affection, etc. She & Newt were SO important to each other & we SEE that & they dont HAVE to get together, but they need proper resolution bc they have actual history between them. God Leta in general deserved so much better. [3]
But my main gripe is that this love polygon serves no purpose to what I believe is the main selling point of FB: the world. HP having love stories makes sense bc we're following the story of a boy as he goes through adolescence & his journey through that via school is part of that, which is why the romance feels fitting. It's a very personal story. FB on the otherhand is the best peak we have at the wider wizarding world beyond school. HP introduces the world of magic, but FB rlly expands it [4]
To that end Jakob & Queenie's relationship is the only one I find myself liking, bc it's deeply tied to the world setting, the series' biggest selling point (in my opinion, should have said this earlier). It underscores the attitudes of the period & the conflict they face feels suitably substantial & not like filler. There's a moral question between them of are they worth it? And how far should they go to be together?
Imma be real hear & say FB2 was rlly Queenie's movie & they should have been ballsy & just make Queenie the mc for FB2, bc her story was actually considerably more important to the overall development of the story than Newt's, which mostly came off as a rushed & a tad clichè soap drama. & making it about Queenie I think builds more room for good conflict & independent narrative for Tina that would serve her chara better. [5? 6?]
If I bad to be REAL ballsy, I'd say my big issue w/ the relationships in the FB series & how it enhances or impedes the main story & what I believe to be it's biggest attracter (the setting) could have been solved if they made Newt's romantic interest a muggle. It attaches a deeper meaning & relevance to them & the story so it felt more deeply that they truly moved WITH the narrative rather than beside it but I guess Im just picky. Thx for putting up w this! [Final]
(My response below the cut.)
Yeah, pretty much all of this is right.
Regarding the Tina thing, it was definitely rushed, especially since there was literally nothing romantic between them in the whole first movie, except maybe the end part where they're stumbling over their words. Despite knowing how movies work and knowing that they were the male and female lead, I still found that completely out of left field, because they don't really share any interests and I didn't feel like they felt anything in particular for each other before that. She really wants to be an auror and feels really intensely about it; he just wants to travel the world and write about magical creatures and take care of them. I don't see a lot of compatibility there, and the movie didn't really do anything to reconcile that gap.
Jacob and Queenie made sense, because they actually sowed some seeds for it. It's not even about the fact that they both like to cook; they showed an interest in each other throughout. They noticeably like each other. Newt and Tina never really had that, to me, so it was bizarre for her to become his primary motivation in the second movie.
Queenie's trajectory in movie 2 overall bothers me, so while I agree it would have been better if they'd centered it more around her, I definitely think they needed to drastically rewrite pretty much everything she did. Enchanting Jacob at the beginning never sat well with me; I usually only have to say this in the Descendants fandom, but if one half of the ship is magical and the other half isn't, we can't have the magical one enchanting the non-magical one for romantic reasons without addressing what a violation of trust that is. Like, Jacob would be justified for never trusting her again, over that. Also, the fact that she apparently holds it against people if they think bad things about her is not something I would expect from someone who has been a Legilimens as long as she has, and not a detail I like, at all. Especially since it was used to give her justification to be mad at Jacob after she enchanted him in the first place. I find it sad, because Queenie was definitely my favorite character in the first movie. (Also, joining Grindelwald was a nonsensical thing to do. I can only assume she's there to spy on him or something, because it makes literally no sense.)
As for Leta, I really don't like how that was approached. First of all, I don't like how their mention of her in the first movie was "She was a taker; you need a giver," because once we actually met the character, that only made me resent Queenie for representing her that way. Leta deserved better in pretty much every way, and they definitely shouldn't have killed her off like that. I find the whole situation really iffy from a racial standpoint. The first black character to be written three-dimensionally in all of HP lore, and they make sure to preemptively tell the audience that she's a "taker", kill her in the same movie we meet her, and manage to trivialize her death by turning it into a little "Who was she saying 'I love you' to?" mystery. I like her relationship with Newt and Theseus, and I'd definitely want to see more of it.
Yes, it definitely would have been better, thematically, if they'd made the love interest a Muggle. (I'd honestly say they should've paired Newt with Jacob, but I know they're unwilling to do that. That would be kind of cool, though, to see the movie shaping up with two male characters and two female characters and have the men end up with each other and the women just live their lives as humans.)
With the story they ended up telling, though, I don't think that is needed; since Queenie is already dealing with the wizard/Muggle storyline, Newt could have a different conflict. Maybe his love interest should be a werewolf or something, to tie in the wizarding world's unresolved dislike for "half-breeds". And if he were in a relationship with someone already regarded as a creature, the wider wizarding world might take a different view to his studies and look down on him a lot more. Idk, a thought.
And then, with Leta/Theseus and Grindelwald/Dumbledore (if they were willing to actually deal with that), they'd pretty much hit every controversial beat they've got: wizard/Muggle, wizard/"half-breed", interracial, homosexual. Credence and Nagini are both creatures, kind of, but I still like them together, so their relationship doesn't have to tie into any theme; it just has to be developed way more.
On the whole, Crimes of Grindelwald felt like they skipped a movie. It feels like they needed a middle installment to make these relationships happen, instead of jumping from "Do Newt and Tina maybe have feelings for each other?" to "Newt loves Tina and Tina is possessive enough of Newt to be outwardly upset with him when she thinks he's engaged to someone else," and creating a whole relationship between Credence and Nagini that we see none of.
The fact that Queenie and Jacob were done well in the first movie gives me a fair amount of goodwill for them, but that goodwill only offers enough cushioning from the botching that movie 2 did that I'm near-indifferent to the ship, now, instead of actively opposed. I'd like to see things improved, but as it currently stands, I'd be just as happy seeing them end up not together as together. The fact that Leta's relationships with Newt and Theseus were more interesting than any of the aforementioned makes it that much more ridiculous that they killed her. What ship am I supposed to care about how? If I can't go into the next movie delusionally hoping Newt and Leta will get some moments, or enjoying the Theseus and Leta content, then I'll just be sitting there waiting for Credence and Nagini to share a screen, and who knows when that'll happen?

Hello ❤ hope you have a nice day 💖 can i request #14 from the dark prompts please?
Heya hun!!! Honestly, the day has been hot, but we push on. I hope your day has been good!! 💖 Hope you don't mind, but I went for a Fantasy AU for this one; I was super struggling with the prompt and the only thing I could think of was, "oooh, John as a mage..." so we kinda get that. The whole thing is more set up then anything else, but I didn't want to delete anything...
14. “You’re too sweet, darling. What type of monster would I be without you?”
- - -
There had been tales, whispers amongst the women and men of people going missing; of them being snatched off darkened paths and empty roads. Some reckoned it was a beast, spoke of a monster that was stealing people away to fuel their wicked appetite. Others thought it to be bandits, or other unscrupulous groups looking to profit off of the lives of inconspicuous civilians. But there were a handful, the few like yourself, that felt the shift in the air; that could feel the remnants of something foul and forbidden coiled around the scenes.
It had worried you greatly, the thought of such dark magic set loose in the town you had made a home of. Often you found yourself lost in your own mounting anxieties as the reports grew more and more frequent, and rumours gradianted into a much dreaded possibility. Even though you were no stranger to the darker arts, proficient as you are in the art of Summoning, you had never delved too far into its catalogue. In fact, Summoning was about all you ever touched and even then, amongst some other magically inclined individuals, it was considered somewhat of a lesser art; not as destructive and therefore not as notable as others.
However, just because you never strayed into more questionable arts doesn’t mean you know not of them. You’re aware that there are some dark arts that are a bit more accepted amongst the magically inclined than others, used for educational purposes and approved of as a means to protect oneself. Really dark arts are just offensive abilities, so no matter what there is always an element of wariness when it comes to the potential of such arts. As long as you utilise them in an acceptable manner there will be no questioning, no inquiries into your character.
For those not accepted though it is typically because they cross some form of moral or ethical line, taking an individual down a path that alters them irremediably. Stains the core of their aura with the makings of something dreadful, corrupts them until they lose all that makes them as they are.
Admittedly, if not studied correctly or the thirst for knowledge becomes too consuming, then any art can destroy a person; can set them down that very smart path. And sometimes a person can destroy the values of the art and stretch it into something it is not designed to be. There are many stories of Healers’ playing Maker, of a Conjurers’ calling going terribly wrong, of Astrologians’ going insane from their divinations. Once you were almost entranced by your own Summon; a rookie mistake, terribly embarrassing to recall.
Magic in general is a dangerous art and care will always need to be taken. But there are some arts where that danger is part of the art, and those are forbidden. They will always cross the line, and they will never fail to destroy a person; and that person will never fail to destroy others.
That’s what scared you so much about the recent happenings of the town. To think that such a person was lurching about the place, taking people off the street for who knows what nefarious reasons, terrified you. The idea that you could be next, that the stability of your own aura could be at risk because of this rogue caster sickened you. It tore you apart.
And John saw that.
It was a relatively small town, filled with all types of people coming in and out from across the region and the different towns within it. For a long time though the only people you knew that did magic was a spirited Pyromancer called Sharky and some eccentric Apothecary who lived on the outskirts called Larry (you were convinced the man tested his own potions on himself). The first you met when you had summoned a Kelpie to help you put out a fire he had accidentally caused a bit too close to your home, while the latter you had met by chance while looking for ingredients.
That had changed once the Seed brothers had moved in close to the town. They were surprisingly open about their magical inclinations and while the town wasn’t outrightly hostile they were openly suspicious of the three. You had even been a little suspicious of the three, not understanding their reasons for being so forward to a none magically inclined town; it could be dangerous to do so. Ultimately though they suffered little consequence of their reveal, other than strange looks and quiet gossip made of them. You had been envious of that freedom, to be forthright about what you were, but thought better of it. To reveal such a truth after so long would spell disaster for you.
Not even a full lunar cycle had passed before Joseph, the middle brother of the three, had made a point to come seek you out, introducing himself and his brothers to you. It had been a wholly uncomfortable encounter, especially the instance where he had suddenly questioned what arts you had studied. Desperately you had tried to deny it but thankfully the oldest brother, Jacob, had merely sighed and apologised on Joseph’s behalf. As an ex-Paladin turned Enchanter he had fully understood your need for secrecy and had been your saving grace during the whole thing. From then on the brothers become quick acquaintances to you, whether you wanted them to be or not.
Joseph was… okay. He made for interesting conversation no doubt and oftentimes his words gave you pause to think on things, but he could be a touch preachy at times, especially about his beliefs and divinations. Jacob on the other hand had become a confidante of sorts. You didn’t often talk, but when you did the conversation held well enough and his advice was always sound. He was also honest about his thoughts and opinions on a matter, and while you didn’t like being called out when you messed up you did respect his outlook. Your relationship with the youngest brother, John, however was a special one.
It had taken him a few days after the initial introduction to strike up a conversation with you, and for the most part he had purely asked you about yourself. But somewhere between admitting how long you’ve lived here and him nervously revealing himself to be a Conjurer, you had developed a fast trust of the man. It was unexplainable, completely foolish of you, but there was just something about him that you thought was pleasant; a believability to him. He was the first you deliberately told about your darker studies and thankfully, being of similar arts, he had taken it exceedingly well. You had even bonded over the differences and similarities between your chosen studies. He had become a dear friend, and only became dearer as the years went by.
So John noticing when your worries began to eat at you didn’t surprise you. He knew you extraordinarily well, sometimes it was even a little spooky how well he knew you, but it was also an odd comfort. He knew just what to say to put you at ease, to assure you that you would be safe and even going so far as promising that he himself would protect you from such a fate as those missing. You still had doubts, but his care was touching.
If only you had learned the truth sooner.
“My friend, please,” you cry, wrists shackled uncomfortably above you, the metal cutting into your skin, “I beg of thee, stop this! Such practises are a blight to the soul, you will doom yourself if you continue. I know not what it is you wish to accomplish, but please spare them this torture! Spare yourself! Surely there has to be another way, John; surely!”
John merely chuckles quietly, slowly shaking his head as he does so. “Oh, you’re too sweet, darling. Even now, as you are, you still think of me and my well being before yourself. Not to imply you have anything to fear, of course; you know I would never hurt you. I merely mean it as an observation. It is a charming trait, that sweetness of yours. It’s part of why I fell for you so.” He turns to you then, up to his elbows covered in blood. The person before him is still alive, but barely, their breaths shallow and their skin a deathly pallor. To think he was a Hemomancer this whole time…
“But why waste words on their behalf when they would never deign to do the same for you? You had to hide yourself, deny what you truly are just to be accepted by these lowly worms for years. Tell me, where is the fairness in that? In what world should we sequest ourselves away from those weaker than us, those deemed less worthy by the Maker themselves?”
Crossing the space in a few long strides he stops before you, bloody hands cupping your cheeks gently even as you try to turn away from him, bringing you back to stare helplessly into his sparkling eyes, “Don’t you see, sweet one? You are beautiful, in every part, as you are. We were blessed by the Maker, but they will never see that, blinded as they are. They will never appreciate our arts, our gifts, or even us as people, no matter what we may do or sacrifice for them. If I need to subject myself to risk to show them their place, to create a world that you need not hide in any longer, then I’ll do so gladly and without hesitation.”
Shaking your head softly, face still captured within his hands, a tear slips unbidden down your cheek. “But it will consume you. You’ll become a monster.”
“Maybe,” he admits, tone oddly calm as he carefully brushes beneath your eye with his thumb, smearing blood through the track of your tear, “but I wonder, what type of monster would I be without you, do you think?”
Perhaps it is vain of you, but something tells you that he would be another beast entirely without you chained to him as you now are…

**********
Flashback
One year earlier
Toledo, Ohio
"So you sure you're not mad at her anymore?" Dean asks Paige.
She sighs, "Yes Dean, I'm no longer mad at Kate".
Sam, Dean, Paige and Kate are tracking down a nest of vampires in the Ohio woods.
"Okay but from what Brent told me. You were very upset because she wanted out of this life" he tells her.
She sighs again, "Yeah, yeah I know I was, but I got over it".
10 feet behind them, Sam and Kate have their conversation on the whole "leaving the hunter life behind".
"You know I wanted to stop hunting as well" Sam tells Kate.
She looks up at her tall cousin, "Really?".
He nods, "Yeah I went off to college at Stanford. Studying to be a lawyer".
"What happened?!" she asks.
"Our dad went missing, and Dean went by my dorm. I helped him out on one hunt then that night I went back to my room" he takes a deep breath, "Then the demon that killed our mom killed my girlfriend Jess".
She looks up at him once more with sad eyes, "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that" she tells him.
He exhales, "It's fine. We were able to kill him".
"What demon?" she asks.
"Azazel. Yellow eyes" he tells her.
She looks up at him again, "Azazel?. He killed our dad".
Dean and Paige look back at them.
"What happened?" Dean asks.
"Paige the demon that killed dad, what was his name?!" she asks.
"Azazel" she responds.
Kate scoffs, "What is up with that bastard killing our parents?!?"
"We're Winchesters" Dean replies, "That's what happens to us".
*******
Trying to recover from her hallucination trip. Fucking Gabriel pushed her out. Forcing her ass to wake up. Dealing with the withdrawals of the Bliss.
The sun shining in her face, making her go blind for a brief moment.
“It’s morning already?!” Kate thinks to herself.
She stares off into space, staring up at the ceiling. “What the hell Gabe?!”. She gets startled by a knock at her bedroom door, followed by the knob jiggling.
“Kate!!” Paige calls out, “We got a lead on Joseph come down and we’ll talk about it”.
She gets out of bed, and looks in the mirror.
Her eyes aren’t as white as she thought they would be.
Unlocking her door, and going downstairs with the others.
Everyone including Rachel are sitting at the kitchen table.
“Okay so now that we’re all here” Paige says, “I finally got the lead on Joseph’s whereabouts”.
“So where could he be hiding out?!?” Cody asks.
“It could be anywhere in Hope County” Marty says.
“True!!” Paige says, pointing a pointer at them like she were a teacher, “But I got an exact location, and its pretty fucking obvious”.
Waiting and already knowing of his whereabouts. They all just want to see Paige look like an idiot, or more like an idjit.
“Where is he hiding?!” Kenny asks in a smartass kind of way.
“His fucking church” she mutters angrily, “Please fucking kill me!!”.
Everyone stares at her as if she were a fucking dumbass.
“I could’ve fucking guess he was there!!!” Adrian yells.
“Well he wasn’t there before” Paige says in her defense, “He wasn’t anywhere near the statue. Or Teller Ranch which is a real location in a different part of Hope County that I didn’t even know existed!!”.
“So now what?!?” Mandy asks.
“Well we go there, we get him, and we fucking kill him” Paige answers as if it were a dumb question.
“Is killing Joseph Seed really a necessary thing?!?” she asks.
Paige glares at her mother with furrowed eyebrows, “Is that a real, serious question?!. Of fucking course killing him is necessary”.
“I mean we don’t have to kill him though. Maybe have him arrested? Maybe?” she says.
Paige scoffs, “Mom I get you were the “Mother of Eden’s Gate” for a few months, but come fucking on. This man fucking tortures, and manipulates people. Rachel is a good fucking example of that”.
“You’re not going soft for this man are you Mandy?!” Kenny asks in a calm voice.
“I feel like he needs to be protected” Mandy says, shrugging.
“Protected?!?! What the fuck?!?” Paige blurs out, “He doesn't need to be protected. If God, or Chuck wants Joseph to be protected he would’ve shown himself to him. Like he has with us in the past. Like he has with Sam and Dean”.
Barbara steps in and defends Mandy, “Paige you shouldn’t talk to your mother like that. If she says Joseph needs to be protected then he needs to be protected”.
Paige sighs, and says “Barb I know you and my mom are close. But this man, he doesn’t deserve to be protected. Not by my mom, not by my family, not by his followers, and definitely not by Chuck”.
Barbara and Paige stare at each other for a moment, then Rachel clears her throat and speaks up. Everyone looks over at her.
“Joseph, he may seem like a good person to his followers. But he’s a monster. I was afraid of him, and so was John. Jacob not so much. I’m still afraid of him. Joseph, he drugged, manipulated, and threatened me. I was only 17, he took advantage of me. He helped me find my purpose but I was still scared of him.”
Mandy speaks up, “Is that why you were always around me when I was The Mother?”
Rachel nods, “Yes because I felt safe around you. Joseph wouldn’t hurt you because you were The Mother. He wanted to keep you safe, protected and to guide us to New Eden”.
“Mom did Joseph ever try to do anything harmful to you?” Kate asks, still recovering from the Bliss trip.
“No, he didn’t try to do anything that’ll cause me harm” she says, shaking her head.
Mark clears his throat, and awkwardly says “Very bad timing, but our families are coming over to live with us. They’ll be over around 1pm”.
“Alright good, but where are they gonna stay?!?” Kate asks.
“Well my wife and kids can sleep in my room” Nate says, “Since the extra houses are still being put up”.
“My family can do the same” Mark says.
“My wife Brandi is gonna live with us as well” Cody adds.
“So is my wife” Adrian says as well.
“And my fiance as well” Martin says.
“Okay!!” Paige says loudly, “So we’re gonna have Nate, Ellen and your guys 3 kids, Mark, Dana and your guys 2 kids, Cody and Brandi, Martin and Megan, Adrian and Amanda. As well as Kenny, myself, Cristina and baby number 2. Rachel, Kate and the Seed spawn, mom, and Barb”.
She lets out an exaggerated exhale after saying the names of all the people that are gonna live with them in the one huge soon to be 3 house.
“Are we gonna ignore the fact that we’re gonna have more people living here with small children. When we have a bunch of crazy Cultist fuckers running around and trying to kill us?!?” Kenny asking the real questions.
They all exchange looks for a bit, and Paige speaks up.
“I mean Kenneth. We all hunt demons, ghosts and monsters for a living. We all have died at least 3-6 times at some point, and came back. Who wins? A bunch of human cultists? Or a bunch of demon boys with powers?”.
They all once again exchange looks. “She has a point, Kenny” Mark tells him.
They all agree with Paige’s analogy. They’ve all died several times in their lives, were brought back and continued their lives as hunters. Them being hunters is how they all met. It’s how Paige and Kenneth met. It’s quite a romantic story. How they met.
“Well, thank Chuck we’re putting up 2 more houses” Kenny chuckles.
“Speaking of that!” Adrian speaks out, “We should get going with that”.
“Agree” Cody says, getting up from his seat.
The guys all go upstairs and change into their construction gear. They spent the next several hours putting up the houses with the help of 8 Holland Valley locals.
******
1pm arrives, and the guys families, and significant others arrive.
They hug and greet each other. Catch up on life.
Introduce each other to their families.
The children go, and explore the huge 11 bedroom house.
All of them sitting at the kitchen table.
“How was the drive?” Paige asks Cody’s wife Brandi.
She groans, “Hell. Complete Hell”.
Paige laughs softly, “Sounds about right”.
“This house is huge!!!” Dana says, looking around.
“Yep, when Kenneth and I bought it last year after we got married. It had 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, the living room was 450 square feet I think. The kitchen was 450 as well, but with the dining room it’s 780 square feet. The backyard was 2 acres. After a few months we remodel the entire house. It took 7-9 months, we finished back in April of this year. We added 6 more bedrooms, 6 more bathrooms, the living room is now 690 square feet, we purchased 2 more acres of land, so we now have 4 acres of land. We have a bunker that I didn’t had until we’re half way through remodeling the house.”
“It’s huge!” Kate says, “The bunker. It has a full kitchen, a library, a medical room, I think like 10-12 rooms, 6 bathrooms. I think it was a hidden military bunker because we found a lot of Army paraphernalia, old weapons and shit. There’s beds, it’s all stocked up with canned foods, pasta, water, toilet paper and all that shit”.
“I really like the garage that leads down to the bunker” Mandy adds.
Paige says, “Oh yeah the garage we have has a secret entrance inside. That’s why we park our cars in the driveway because we often go down there. The floor lifts up and leads underground. Very Batman-like. My cousin Dean would be very jealous”.
*****
Later that evening they all sit outside, and have dinner.
Mandy, Paige and Kenny made some burgers, fries and a bunch of other meats for them, and their guests. Celebrating the freedom from 2 of the 3 Seeds. Since Faith/Rachel has a change of heart and she’s proving everyday that she has.
Kate invited Wheaty because she’s dating him, as well as all her friends Morgan, Alissa, Sarah, Ryan, Dylan, Kevin the twins Ivan and Isaiah. She really needed to get John off her damn mind and having all her friends around will help with that.
Hoping they’ll give her some comfort. Paige also invited the Rye’s, Mary May, Pastor Jerome, Grace, Sharky, Hurk Jr, Eli, Tammy, and Jess Black. Amongst others.
Kate hugs Wheaty tightly, sinking into his arms, forgetting all about John, and actually listening to Gabriel’s advice.
“I missed you” she says into his shoulder.
He chuckles, “I missed you too”, and kisses the side of her head.
Everyone has a great time, eating, talking and either getting to know each other, or catching up. Paige and Jess finally caught and set up a day for them to go hunting. Seeing her goddaughter Cristina for the first time in several months.
Kate goes the rest of the evening not thinking about John, or even having any memories of him, or his existence in her life. Doing what her Guardian Archangel told her to do and forget about him. Thinking about the good things happening in life.
The tiny human that's growing inside her, she’s with someone that makes her happy. She has her family, and friends.
"So what do you wanna do on Halloween?" Wheaty asks her.
Paige gives Kate a narrow eyed look, "Tell him" she nudges her sister's arm.
She stumbles and tells him, "To, to uh. To be 100% honest Wheat, I don't like Halloween".
He raises his eyebrows at her, "Really? I figured you would love Halloween!".
Paige looks over at her little sister, "Kate tell him why you don't like Halloween!".
She shakes her head, "Uhh no I don't want to".
"I'll tell him if you don't" she playfully threatens.
She groans, rolling her eyes, giving in to tell them "Okay fine!. One time when I was 11-12 before we were taken away from our mom. We were living in Louisiana at the time, and I was invited by one of my classmates to go to her Halloween party. She invited one of our classmates that I had a huge crush on".
"It gets better!!" Paige interrupts, telling Sharky, Jess, Eli and Wheaty.
Kate rolls her eyes, "Anyway. She had a bobbing for apples game thing, and I for some fucking reason wanted to impress that boy in my class. So I bobbed for the apples, but when I’m around someone I like, I tend to get a little queasy. When it was my turn, I went to grab an apple and I threw up in the water”.
Paige bursts into laughter, while everyone at the table looks over at Kate either trying to hold back laughter, or gasping dramatically. Wheaty puts his arm around Kate as a sign of comfort, kissing the side of her head.
“But wait!. It gets better!!’ she tells them, “Everyone saw that I threw up in the apple bucket. Some laughed, some gasp in shock. The boy that I liked saw everything, I went to run away, but I slipped, I stupidly grabbed the bucket and the water along with my vomit and the apples spilled all over me”.
Paige continues to laugh hysterically. “What happened afterwards?!?” Sharky asks.
“I ran out the house and hid in the woods behind her house until my mom came to pick me up”.
Wheaty kisses the side of her head again, comforting her.
“Ya know the same thing happened to me when I was a kid” Sharky tells her.
“Really? What did you do?” she asks.
“I don’t know. I don’t remember much from that” he tells her, and walks away to the other guests.
“Anyway, we can still do something for Halloween. It doesn’t have to be Halloween related” Wheaty tells her.
She’s hesitant about answering him. “C’mon Kate that was 10 years ago. Get over it!” Paige tells her.
“Paige that was humiliating” she tells her, “It all happened in front of a guy I liked”.
“Well what if I told you we can hang out and it won’t involve bobbing for apples or any Halloween related games” he tells his girlfriend.
“Come on Kate spend some time with your boyfriend” Morgan tells her, “Who cares if it's on Halloween”.
“Just pretend it’s another day” Sarah tells her.
She finally gives in after all her friends and sister convince her after 10 minutes “Okay we can do something for October 31st” she finally gives in and gives him an answer.
“Don’t dress as a clown” Morgan tells them, “Kate hates clowns”.
“More like is afraid of clowns” Alissa adds.
They all laugh and have a great night together. Celebrating their freedom from the Seeds with only 1 more to go. With the Winchesters around they’ll all be gone before Halloween.
Joseph’s days are numbered.
******
Later that night when all the guests leave and everyone goes to sleep, Paige and Kate are down stairs putting leftovers away. Once they're done, Paige goes upstairs to her bedroom.
“Welp I’m gonna get some shut eye” she tells her, “You coming up?”.
Kate who is distracted by her thoughts, snaps her head up to look at her sister, “Uhh yeah, yeah I’ll be up in a bit. I just need to do something first”.
Once she leaves upstairs, Kate goes to the backdoor and steps outside into the backyard out into the cool Montana night.
She walks 20 feet away from the house, far enough where the others won’t be able to hear her. Looks up into the sky, looking at the stars, moon, thick clouds covering the moon, the visible galaxies from Earth and prays.
Taking a deep breath, “Hey Gabriel” she starts, “It’s me. Ya girl”. She lets out a short laugh before continuing.
“I just. I just wanted to say” trying to keep her breath steady, “I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for getting me over John. For getting me out of Hell, protecting me from Lilith. Everything. I don’t. I don't think I ever thanked you for all that".
The night goes completely silent, the crickets go silent, “If you can show me a sign that you heard me that would be great”.
She looks around the property to see if anything changed, she looks up at the moon and sees the clouds surrounding it disperse. Moving away from the glowing rock in the sky.
She chuckles softly to herself, looking up “Is that you?”. A shooting star flies past the moon confirming that her Archangel heard her and is giving her a sign that he heard everything she said. Followed by a cool gust of wind, making her hair dance in the breeze.
Smiling up at the sky, “You heard” she mutters and goes back inside the house.

Life can be so fickle (indeed)
character study (1/?); john seed
1790 words
John had always been afraid. He never wanted to admit it, but he always felt terrified in a way.
He understands it well, when people tell him of their fears.
He understands it well, how to let them face their fears.
He is no monster. He is more like a widow, fat and fed, waiting in her web. He is their biggest fear.
june 1986
John Seed was born on a sunny day mid June, birds chirping and the air inside the small bedroom was sticky and hot.
The labour has been problematic and the first thing he sees of the world, full of opportunities and love, are the cold eyes of his mother, starring down on him.
His cries flood the room and shake the house, his brothers impatiently waiting outside the closed door.
“I say it's girl”, his oldest brother whispers, ear pressed on the door, “Joseph? Joe, c'mere!”
John's older brother hastily slides down the window sill, the young couple from down the street who's wedding was today and who he was watching, long forgotten when they entered the room.
december 1990
Winter in the Seed household is cold, deadly even. John has learned that early in his life. Sometimes, the heater is broken. Sometimes, Old Man Seed is too drunk or too lazy to buy new gas. Thus, they freeze. They don't have any money left for warmer clothing.
“Stop complaining”, his mother says when her four year old son, blue lips and pale skin, tugs the end of her skirt slightly. His fingers hurt from the cold. It creeps into his bones, numbs his body. He should be afraid, afraid of dying or pneumonia. He isn't. He is used to the cold.
Jacob stopped going to school last month. John is glad, that he has someone to play with.
The couple that got married four years ago dies in a car accident that night. With them, all colour leaves John's world, dives it into ice cold blue.
march 1996
The air in the gym is sticky. John thinks it stinks, of greasy teenagers and sweaty shoes. He stands there, bare chest in front of his teacher.
“It is nothing, Mister. I just fell down the stairs, how often do I have to tell you this?”
He knows it is a lie. And for a mere second, he can see it in his teacher's eyes. They believe him. Trust him.
Then it's gone.
“I am going to call your parents, John.” He knows it, now he is lost.
january 2002
John doesn't know where they are. He misses them. It hurts.
“Tell me of your sin, my son”, Mister Duncan says, stroking his hair. It is no gentle touch. It burns.
There's no escape. Nowhere to run.
But John doesn't have to. He can lie, lie until the pages turn blank and the trees loose their leaves.
Until he seems them again.
“I got drunk in third period history.”
“With whom, my child?”
“Stephen and Mary Ann.”
“Then we should atone you, shall we?”
He has forgotten his own name. He has forgotten Georgia. They burning sun when he and his brother used to play on the streets, running through the woods.
He forgot it all, he lost it all.
He'll never forget them.
All that is left now, is the perfect shell of John Duncan.
He never wanted to kill someone so badly in years.
september 2006
He is drunk, third period, family law. He and Robert, one of his class mates, are sitting together. They have late lunch.
It is already cold outside, because it is always cold in Connecticut. Every winter, the cold burns in his bones and he curses Old, dead Man Seed for never buying new gas when they needed it. He takes another sip of the expensive liquor, feels it burn and sting in his throat.
It hurts so good. Robert snorts a line, hands the white powder over to John.
“And so she said to me “Do you really think you can fuck that girl -”, he tries to listen to the pathetic stories they tell him. Maybe Jessica and her affairs will have some use. He makes a mental note.
april 2010
“Mister Seed? It's Miss Watkins, secretary at Yale University Law School, New Haven, Connecticut. Mister Duncan asked me to contact you.”
The young lady smiles up at John, who is standing on the other side of the counter. The Duncan shell smiles back.
He hears his brother's voice muffled through the phone's speakers. It sounds rough and weary, vigilant in a way. It hurts him. For a second, he feels empathy again – real empathy tingling in his stomach. It hasn't for years and it makes him dizzy, his vision fading for a mere second. Or maybe it's just the cocaine.
“Jacob?”, he says as he holds the phone to his ear, “It's me, John.”
He doesn't want to be alone any longer. He doesn't know where Joseph is, God have mercy on him. He just wants his brother to be here, to be there when he graduates from college.
june 2010
Jacob did not come.
John tries to swallow the lump in his throat and braces himself with pride against the pain.
Jacob said he had no money to fly across the country.
John's offer to pay his flight and a hotel room has been left without answer.
He looks at his professor when he hands him his diploma and the Duncan shell smiles.
Smiles at Sarah, 28, sitting fourth row. She doesn't smile back.
John bets she only smiles when she sits on the cock of that old guy.
The shell's smile grows brighter, and John laughs.
may 2013
When he looks into the mirror, he doesn't know who he is looking at.
He reminds himself of a chameleon. Shape shifting. Concealing himself.
He not only learned how to do it, he knows how to do it. It has become a sort of an instinct.
Natural selection, evolution.
Did it already became a a part of him?
John doesn't know who he is.
Tick.
He has money.
A lot of it. Too much.
He hates what he is, what he stands for.
John doesn't know how to cure that.
Tick.
His skin itches.
He needs it.
The sex, the rush of cocaine pumping through his veins.
John doesn't know if he's strong enough to resist it.
Tick.
All he can hear is the thumb of his heart against his ribs and a clock ticking at the back of his head, reminding him of the time that is running through his fingers like sand.
It is like he's lost.
John doesn't know how to be found anymore.
august 2013
It is the first time he sees them again after so many years.
Well, not alive. He very much just sees their tomb stones.
He spits on their graves, he can't behave, doesn't want to.
He thinks back, at his first time in Georgia where he grew up, and suddenly he thinks of the young couple that lived down the road. He loved watching them sitting in their garden, so happy and so in love.
They were his age when they died. They had nothing and still were so euphoric. All things have to end some day.
He has it all and he desires the whole world to end.
In a way, all the pain came the year they passed away. He doesn't believe in a connection, he really doesn't – he's not that foolish, but he still searches for one. Just a few seconds.
There has to be a way for it all to makes sense again.
In the end, he always comes to that one conclusion. There isn't.
When they left, all the beauty he had ever been able to witness was ripped away. More ripped apart in the crashed van, blood and broken limbs. From that day on, there was silence and clouded skies. He envies them.
He spits again.
november 2013
At least he is back home now. Sunny Rome. Beautiful Georgia.
Joseph looks horrible, John thinks, dark circles under his eyes, a maddening calmness in his eyes.
Jacob shakes most of the times, sometimes he even screams without reason. He polishes his military decorations twice a day, pathetic, John thinks.
It hurts him. Badly.
Joseph often writes on the walls, some nights he can't stop himself.
Jacob vomits once a day, most nights he can't help himself. No one does.
But he loves them. Dearly.
The only bit of love he'll ever allow himself to feel again.
july 2014
As Joseph pulls her back out of the water, John can see it.
The thin material of her white dress clinging to her body, wet and transparent.
Holly is her name.
And John wants.
He takes. He always took and he will always take.
It is so much easier than giving.
He tells himself that it's nothing. No love. Nothing.
Love destroyed him, that woman wouldn't.
october 2015
It rushes through John's veins, like the substances he has so long forgotten about.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
He carves the next letter into the cultists back, making his flesh spring open and bleed onto the floor.
“We should atone you from your sins, shall we?”
His own voice rings in his head. It scares him, but it feels good.
He keeps going.
january 2018
Joseph says they're ready. Something is coming, The Collapse is close.
John anticipates it, he is prepared.
He wants it to end. He wants everything to end.
He wants the world red and burning and bright in the light of pure atonement.
He wants to see them suffer, choking on their lies and their disgusting lives.
He wants to see the world crumble before his toes.
He hates it so much, everything that is on the outside. He hopes Eden is better to them.
march 2018
Every breath burns and stings, it feels like his lungs are torn apart by the simple process of breathing.
There it is again, the ticking sound of the clock. Slow. Steady.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
He knows it is going to be pure, divine silence soon. He embraces it.
Thumb. Thumb. Thumb.
John is not afraid. John is not terrified. John has no fear of missing out, John is not clinging to his life. As he stares into their eyes, he can seem himself for the first time.
Ironic, he thinks, how eyes may be the mirrors to the soul. Who knew it would be mine I see, not theirs?
The thumbs stop, the clock stops ticking.
John Seed knows exactly who he is, as he takes his last breath.
