So I know that there's an "official" Surgebinding chart... But it just looked a bit too messy, and in some orders cases washed out, to me. So I made my own, complete with text to say what each symbol actually is as well :3

Looking at the gifs of Neo using her Semblance... I cannot help but wonder... How much of her attire is actually "real" and how much is just her using her Semblance to style away as she likes?

The more elaborate the illusion, the more Aura it consumes, so Neo's attire is very real unless she has to temporarily dress up or be someone else

and I MEAN, she loved to design and make her own clothes, so that's an extra excuse to actually craft the attire and wear it, letting it be real

I do have the headcanon that she uses her Semblance to have a preview of how she wants an attire to end up looking, though, but YEAH, she isn't going to use her Semblance to style it permanently or anything, not when she can make her clothes, after all

Just dropping in a quick ask because ironically google is bollocks for trying to find an answer for this. I saw on your feed a while back about how when it comes to kimonos that you never fold Right Over Left because that's reserved for the dead. I was wondering if that rule applied to any other articles of clothing, like cheongsams, qipao, ao dai etc, or if that's a kimono specific rule? I'm asking because my brain decided to ask "What if Vampire/Dhampir D&D character, how to show visually without Dracula dramatic route?" And thus I thought I'd ask someone who's probably got far more wisdom in this area than I do before committing any cultural faux paus. Especially since Google etc won't give any answers on the topic that I can find here in the UK. This is a tricky answer b/c my knowledge is mostly Japan, but Japan actually used to cross the other way, until China adopted the practice and then Japan did as well. (so if you're drawing Jomon or yayoi period stuff, it was the other way around, up until a certain point)

China also did it in a way that "othered" some groups in the region, like "this is how the CIVILIZED people do it" so it is important to check with folks from those groups specifically. I know that Hmong cross the other way, for example.

When it comes to characters tho, that's where it can get tricky. I'd say that it would be a pretty big giveaway to cross the other way, so unless your character wants to out themselves pretty quickly, dressing the way folks around them do would probably make the most sense.

I know Japan at least is mixed on this sort of thing in media, there was a zombie show where the kimono were crossed the other way, but then there was yet another zombie show where they weren't. In Hoshi no Kuni, the gems wear their PJs crossed the other way, but it's not explicitly said why.

Personally, unless I'm drawing art of a character specifically dressed that way, or like a proper actual yuurei, then I tend to stick to the rule.

But I am by NO means the arbitrator on this at all, it's just the history that I've picked up studying and living here, and I know that it can be a sensitive topic, so I'm just telling you what rules I set for myself to be as respectful as possible. Also, my experience is like 90% Japan, so I'm not as knowledgeable about China and Korea as I am Japan, and only know what I observe from looking at posts from folks from those places when they talk about their traditional clothing.

Sorry if that isn't as cut and dry as you'd have hoped for, but I don't think it's my place to call it one way or the other, only just to say what I personally would do in that situation ^_^

You do know what each of the Elements Of Harmony are meant to represent correct? Might want to refresh your memory on that one Miss Sparkle then reconsider whether or not friendship is a form of magic.

I’ve got quite a few of these with each of you saying Twilight’s wrong and how friendship is magic but keep in mind that this is S1E1 Twilight, who doesn’t have friends or care about friendship. She doesn’t have the knowledge from the show that you guys have. The Elements are named the Elements of Honesty, Kindness, Loyalty, Generosity, Laughter, and Magic. Nowhere does it explicitly say that friendship is needed, and none of those words specifically have to do with friendship either. Also, it was just an opportunity for a show name drop.

For the sake of curiosity, and given current events going on in-game... Wanna try out the character meme for the Lightning (FF13), Noctis (FF15), Iroha (FF11), Palico/Felyne (Monster Hunter World), and 2P (Nier Automata) Crossover iterations? :3 True they're one offs (mostly) but also curious how/where they fit in.

If you mean the Thoughts prompt like the Fordola one I reblogged the other day...Yeah, I gave these some thought, but can’t really make it work; most of them only really interact with WoL, and for a very short time.

I never played the XIII event, so never met Lightning. Nor have I played any game she’s been in--or any of the others, for that matter. I don’t really play many games, so the crossovers and glimpses I see on the internet are the extent of my knowledge.

I am definitely interested in seeing where 2P’s story goes in the YorHa raids, though, and what’s going on with that room of 2Bs and Nines’ attitude. Felyne is a great minion, and I loved the puns. Iroha struck me as young, naive, a bit scattered, but her little event feels different now after Shadowbringers than it did in 2017. I liked Noctis and am glad they incorporated the camping scene; he seemed like such a laid back, normal young man and it was interesting there was really no IC hint of his rank and title and level of Special until facing FFXV Garuda at the end.

I do wish the crossover quests were a little longer, and we got to see and do more with each character, and that they would replay more of them for those who missed out the first time around, especially now with FF Tactics/XII and NieR being so permanently integrated into the MMO.

Hmm... the vet's can't find anything, but she is hungry but she's refusing to eat anything that isn't brand new... I might have a plan, although I've no clue if you've tried this yet or not. Is there any particular treat that she's consistently eating atm? For example bits of chicken, or ham etc? The kind of chicken / ham etc you eat I mean. Cus if she's managing to eat those consistently, then maybe sprinkle / hide those inside her current food, and see if that works? Or mix and match her food?

She’s learned to pick out the rest of her food and only eat the treats >8/
