MINORS DNI 18+
JAKE PERALTA can't believe his stroke of good luck. Of pure, unadulterated good luck. He had entered the crime scene with you mere moments ago and after a heated exchange of bouncing off of each other with observations— your voices gradually raising at the same level as you near the climax of the conversation— you'd given him the look. Focused eyes watching him through your brows, the curl of your parted lips, panting through them. How you assessed him, scanned his figure like he was edible, sharing a silent moment with him as you calculate exactly what you wanna do to him. Next thing he knew you were excusing you and him saying you'd be going out for coffee, when you'd pulled him into the nearest cleaning closet of the apartment complex that wasn't crawling with cops. Now he's balls deep inside you, clothes having hastily been moved aside to accommodate it.
"Jakey," you whine, dragging out the word. He loves it when you call him that. Gets him all hot and bothered, afraid he'd give you whatever you asked for when you invoke that pretty petname off those pretty lips. "you fuck me so good..."
His teeth bite hard into the skin past his lips, brows creased in concentration so as not to bust to early. It's a quickie, a fucking hot one, but he's still got manners. The sound of your voice has his eyes rolling into the back of his head as he's fucking you from the back, big hands on your hips to keep pulling you back onto his cock while you brace on the wall. A brief moan hums through his nose as he directs you closer to him, talking shit in your ear, "Do I fuck you good? Yeah? Yeah, baby? 'I fuck you good?" breathless, and dizzy with pleasure, he can't believe someone like you is this into him.

Can i get a oblivious!jake peralta x flirty!reader where jake finally realizes that reader likes him? :D
this is so cute omg!! f!reader x jake peralta
oblivious!jake realising that you like him
"So, Peralta.."
You turned around to face the detective at the table behind you in the briefing room. You placed your elbow against the back of the chair and leaned your head against your hand, smiling slightly.
Everyone in the room was discussing Terry's latest case briefing, a semi-big politician murdered just blocks from the precinct. Charles was having a one sided conversation with Rosa, and Amy was asking Terry follow-up questions, but you only had eyes for one person.
Jake, your Jake, star detective and handsome moron, currently smiling at nothing, no thoughts behind his eyes.
"Quite some nerve to shoot that guy like a mile from a police precinct, huh?"
You not-so-discreetly eyed him up, but he didn't have a clue. Like usual, it was like flirting with a brick wall, all your attempts bounced right off. You bit the inside of your lip and waited for a response.
"Right, some nerve." he grinned.
It was smiles like that, that had made you fall for him. Even though you'd been working alongside each other for multiple years, his perfect smile still made your heart beat a little bit faster, your face heating up.
You figured he was smiling since Terry had assigned him and Boyle to the case, but it managed to give you butterflies nevertheless. You felt silly, like a 12-year-old schoolgirl crushing on her classmate.
"Good thing Terry put his best detectives on the case, then?" You fiddled with a strand of your hair as Boyle lit up.
"Well said, Y/N! Jakey is the worlds greatest cop, you know?"
Jake pushed his shoulder playfully as he laughed, before grinning smugly.
"I wouldn't say the world's greatest. Would the world's greatest cop go around stealing hearts?"
You sighed quietly and laughed along.
"Yeah, he would.”
"Exactly, everyone knows I'm infamous for killing all the ladies 'round here." He winked playfully as disappointment flooded through your veins, like usual. You excused yourself to go on a ’coffee run’ the moment Terry dismissed you all, grabbing your jacket and exiting the bullpen.
"Are you an idiot, Peralta?" Rosa hissed at him. Her hands were slammed on the table in front of him as Amy stood next to her with her arms crossed.
"This had gone too far. Would you just catch on already? That girl is madly in love with you, and you’re playing with her feelings.”
Amy groaned as she shook her head. Jake sat there dumbfounded for a moment, before the colour drained from his face. He buried his face in his hands and groaned.
"Uh, Jake?" Charles placed a hand on his shoulder.
"What is it, Charles..?"
"She just went in the elevator. Maybe you should-”
Jacob Peralta had never ran down stairs so fast in his entire life. When he got out of the stairwell, his eyes darted around the lobby as his mind raced. Had you already left? How would he ever find you in the overcrowded lobby? Or in an overcrowded New York street?
But there you were.
There you were, and you had seen him too, and you were standing just twenty feet away, and you were smiling at him with an eyebrow raised.

You Better Peralta
Jake Peralta x G/N Reader  - Jake catches up with you before he goes undercover.  - Words: 1,012.  - Warnings: None.
You stand outside the precinct, breathing in the cool Brooklyn air. Jake had just got fired and signed up for an undercover mission with the FBI less than two hours ago and it had just dawned on you what that meant. You sigh, shutting your eyes. The idea of Jake going undercover made you nervous. You knew, realistically, that he would be fine. He’s an amazing detective. But there was something nagging at you, something that felt like unfinished business. You open your eyes again, walking towards your car.
“(Y/N)?” You turn around, seeing Jake coming up to you holding a box of his belongings. “Hey, thought I missed you.” He looks at you and smiles, causing your heart to beat slightly faster.
“Hey Jake. Amazing assignment” You say, trying to not let the worry you feel ruin his big moment. “I have to admit though, I’m a little jealous.”
Jake laughs. You laugh too, trying to ignore the butterflies you feel. “Really? Well, if you want I could help you get fired. I’m really good at it.”
You look at the man in front of you, trying to take in the small details to remember him while he is gone. You look at his goofy smile, his fluffy hair, the way his jacket sits on his shoulders. You take a deep breath in, trying to distinguish his cologne from the smell of the street. Finally, you look into his eyes. The soft brown showing so much warmth, the wrinkles around showing life and laughter. You send him a sad smile.
“Yeah. So, this is real. This is happening” you point to the box in his hand and he lets out a soft laugh. He looks at you, opening his mouth a few times before settling on the words he wants to say.
“Look, I don’t wanna be a jerk. I know I’m leaving and we won’t see each other for a while. It’s just…” Jake stopped. You looked up to the man with your eyebrows furrowed. He looked back, having an internal debate about if he should continue. You take a step closer to Jake, reaching out to take the box from his hands. You put the box on the trunk of your car and looked back at him once more.
“What’s going on?”
“I don’t know what’s gonna happen on this assignment. And if something bad goes down, I think I’d be pissed at myself if I didn’t say this” He stops again, gauging your reaction. You smiled, urging him to go on. “I kinda wish something could happen between us, romantic-stylez.”
The butterflies you felt are now roaring, your heart rate increasing. You looked at Jake, with your mouth slightly open, aiming to say anything. But no words were coming out. Jake rolled his lips between his teeth and took a deep breath.
“I know we’re coworkers, and I’m going undercover and that’s just how it is. But…” he stopped his sentence and looked down to the ground with a small smile. “Anyway, we’re not supposed to have any contact, so I should go. America needs me!” He says with a soft laugh, looking back at you. He smiled, turning to grab the box from your car. You reach out, stopping his hands mid action. Jake freezes, looking back at you. He watches the emotions you express through your facial expressions.
You hold his hands, opening your mouth to talk again. But words still wouldn’t come. You move your hands to his arms, then his shoulders. You hold them there for a moment, feeling the soft leather of his jacket between your fingers. You move your arms up further, up to his neck before settling on his cheeks. You take another step forward, slowly closing the gap between the two of you. Slowly closing the gap between coworkers and friends to something more. After Jake's confession, something clicked in your brain. Something you realise you have been putting off acknowledging for months.
“(Y/N)? Hey. Are you okay?” Jake asked, worry seeping into his tone.
“No, not really” you whisper, pulling Jake closer again. You were inches apart now, your hands still resting on his cheeks. Jake’s breath quickened slightly, and you let out a small huff. “I think I’m going to regret not doing this before you go.”
Your heart is thumping now as you pull Jake’s face closer to your own. As you close your eyes, you connect your lips together softly. Jake returns the kiss immediately, wrapping his arms around your waist, holding you tight. You felt the butterflies be released, a sense of calm washing over you. It felt natural. It felt right. You pull back after a few seconds, resting your forehead against his. You feel a single tear sliding down your cheek. You keep your eyes closed, scared of what you might see when you open them. You rub your left thumb over his cheekbone and he lets out a soft chuckle.
“If I knew you were going to kiss me, I would have told you all this months ago” you huff at his words, the corners of your mouth lifting slightly into a small smile. Jake pulls you in again, kissing you with more determination, with more passion. You could feel your heart opening, welcoming the idea of something more. You finally allowed yourself to feel these emotions you have been ignoring. You pull back, opening your eyes to the man in front of you. He looked at you with such adoration, it broke your heart to take a step back from him.
“If we keep going I won’t let you go” you whisper, giving Jake a sad smile. You could feel more tears falling from your eyes now. You move your hands, one going to wipe the tears from your face. Looking back at Jake’s eyes, you could see they looked wet too.
“I’ll be back for you, promise” Jake says, reaching for your hand. You laugh, taking his hardened hand and giving it a squeeze.
“You better Peralta.”

Honest Character
Tumblr media
Jake Peralta x Reader - Dating the Captain's daughter [1.2K Words]
The Brooklyn summer heat had taken a toll on the city. Everyone at the office was dripping through their shirts this morning due to the absence of air conditioning, courtesy of a broken fuse that impacted all of New York City. The entire squad was forced to dress summer casual, looking like a bunch of vacationers that had washed up into the precinct, with only Capitan Holt abiding to the work-place dress code.
So, when you walked into the police station with your yellow sundress swaying up your thighs, Jake Peralta had no choice but to look you up and down like a tall glass of water. With sunglasses adorning your head like a crown, you walked straight into the Captain’s office without saying a single word. The Captain had shut his office door behind you, forbidding any eavesdropping of the conversation.
“Jake, stop staring down the new sketch artist,” Terry commanded from his desk, “You’re going to scare her away before she even starts.”
The detective turned towards Terry, confusion running through his brows, “We hired a new sketch artist? How come I was never told this?”
“Because you always hit on the new hires,” Rosa chimed in dropping off a shared file onto Jakes desk, “Holt asked us all to keep her transfer a secret until she got here.”
With genuine hurt, Jake shot his friends an accusing look, “That’s crazy. I am a delight to meet, I can keep this profresh. It’s all of you making this unprofresh.” He huffed with frustration earning sympathetic gazes from the rest of the squad. Before anyone had the chance to add to the conversation, the room went quiet with Holt calling Jake towards his office before closing the door once more. Standing up, Peralta turned to the sargent with a smirk, “See! I am a delight.” With determination he marched to the Captain’s office, smoothing out his short-sleeved flannel.
“Jake, I’d like to meet (Y/N) H.C.” The Captain introduced the two of you with a gesturing hand.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Jake Peralta. You must be the new sketch artist,” Jake stated proudly reaching for your hand and giving Holt a smug look, “What does the H.C. stand for, Honest Character? We sure need more of that around here.” The detective gave his superior another annoyed look, still frustrated from being kept out of the loop.
You looked between the officers, clearly you had stepped into a separate argument. Deciding to ignore the unknown elephant in the room you took Jake’s hand, giving him a shake. “No, it’s short for Holt-Cozner. I’m from the Seven-Three’s forensics division, my dad said you needed some help with the Davidson murder.”  You clarified, with question taking over your voice. The silence ran thick throughout the office, both Holt and yourself confused beyond belief. You slowly retrieved your hand away from Jake’s when it was evident that he’d been shocked frozen.
“Your dad?” Jake quipped, bewildered by the fact.
“Yes,” Holt confirmed hesitantly, unsure of what had taken over his subordinate. “I had Santiago inform the team that my daughter would be visiting and helping you with the case.”
With twisted lips Jake shot a look at his desk, now crowded with snickering friends and an apologetic looking Boyle. Peralta knew this was payback for when he embarrassed his co-worker during last week’s briefing. In an awkward haste, Jake led you a spare room leaving you with no choice but to mumble a quiet “I’ll see you at dinner” to Holt before exiting.
You reviewed the photos and DNA evidence quietly, unsure of what was going through the detective’s mind. With a slight cough you cleared your throat before speaking, “It’s odd that there aren’t any fingerprints around the apartment that match the ones on the weapon,” you started “How did they enter the apartment in the first place? And even then, why not take the same precautions with handling the weapon. It’s like they’re a ghost and only moralized to kill the victim.”
Jake looked at you excitedly, a lightbulb illuminating in his head. “Because they were framed!” He yelled excitedly shuffling through the files bringing your attention to a picture of the apartment owner, “We dismissed this guy’s prints because it’s his apartment, but he must’ve blackmailed our suspect into putting his prints on the weapon – the suspect kept on saying he was there returning a favor, and that’s it.” The detective shook his head in disbelief, already over the embarrassing moment from earlier, “You’re a genius.”
“It was your solve detective, I’m just happy to help.” You smiled, getting ready to show yourself out.
“Wait, don’t you want to stay for the interrogation?” Jake asked, hoping he would have the opportunity to make up for his horrible first impression, “Or at least long enough for me to take you out for lunch?” He could tell that the latter offer took you by surprise. So, he offered you a welcoming arm, inviting you to link with it, “Do you like Pizza?”
The awkwardness from earlier had washed away as the two of you shared a laugh over two slices of New York’s finest pizza and ice-cold orange sodas. Jake had explained the entire situation from this morning and in return you had described to him your life with your dads: Raymond Holt and Kevin Cozner.
“You have the coolest dads ever,” Jake exclaimed taking another slice of pepperoni pizza. The cheese stretched as he placed the slice back down, “I can’t believe that this is the first time I’ve heard of you.”
You shook your head, laughing at the hanging cheese string dangling from Jake’s lips. You were thankful for the bright sun leaving a pink tint on your skin, effectively hiding your growing blush. Your dad had told you many stories about the detective. Nights of going on and on about his awful handwriting, his silliness during Halloween, and how he had set every precinct record since Holt had taken command. You had been curious about Peralta, but you would have never thought he’d be this charming. Maybe it was the romantic pop song playing on the radio, or the heat coming from the kitchen, but desire had bubbled in your heart, and you were itching for more time with him.
With his permission, you wiped off the extra sauce and cheese off the corner of Jake’s mouth, making you suddenly shy. “Yeah, and yet I’ve already learnt so much about you.”
Jake’s smile grew bigger, happy that he’d manage to turn the situation around. The way your sundress hiked up your legs had not left his mind since this morning. Though he felt himself enchanted to meet you, he knew with certainty that he wanted to go about this spontaneous date correctly – with you being the Captain’s daughter and all. He felt it in his gut that you were going to be a forever thing, and his gut feelings were always right. “To even it out, maybe I can learn more about you over drinks tomorrow at the bar?”
You leaned in gifting the detective a light kiss on his cheek, unable to resist those dimples for any longer than you already have, “It’s a date.”
And it was one of the best dates both of you had been on. From that day forward, Jake no longer wanted or needed to hit on other new hires, not with you and your sundresses frequenting the precinct. The squad had grown fond of your budding relationship, with even the Captain showing signs of enthusiasm. As Jake meet you downstairs for another summer night of exploring the city, he thought to himself about how lucky he was to have been pranked by his friends that morning.

Mystery Character Drabble for Brooklyn 99 + “Remember, what happens when we’re undercover, stays there.”, please?
Tumblr media
Prompt: Remember, what happens when we’re undercover, stays there.
Character: Jake Peralta
You weren’t entirely certainly why Captain Holt had chosen both you and Jake for the undercover case. Sure, you and he got along well when you were both in the precinct but each of you had fundamentally different ways of handling cases which led to high frustrations. You’d get this case closed you would make certain of that, you just weren’t certain how well you and Jake would get along in the meantime.
It was a joint case, with major crimes to help bring down a major New York crime syndicate. A lot of the officers in major crimes had ties with some of the mob having been undercover before, so they required new faces to be able to infiltrate and gather information. With backstories memorized, both you and Jake managed to work your way to the inner circle, gaining trust as well as intel along the way.
Still, in the weeks that the two of you had been undercover, this was by far the most bizarre things you had ever been a part of, attending the birthday party of an eight year old. Sure she was the eight year old daughter of one of the most infamous criminals in all of New York, but she was also currently a child trying to win a stuffed animal from one of the crane games.
Everything seemed so normal for a change, which also felt off. Except really, nothing was happening, every member of the inner circle had been asked to come, to bring a gift and their families if they had children. With party hats handed around to all adults and children, it didn’t seem like the place to conduct business, the very case that Jake was attempting to make.
“It’s a birthday party, you’re overthinking! Have fun!”
“Or maybe I’m thinking the exact right amount for the situation and us underestimating everything is what they want to happen”
Jake shrugged, “We have enough evidence to close the case, they just want us on it for one more week. It’s not like they need the details of every single day. I haven’t had to report how many minutes I’ve spent staring into a fridge trying to figure out what to eat.”
“I just think...”
“Don’t think!” Jake interrupts.
You sigh, “Fine. What did you have in mind?”
“Who gets the highest score playing Skee-Ball!”

𝓯𝓪𝓭𝓮 𝓲𝓷𝓽𝓸 𝔂𝓸𝓾 *WIP*
you guys loved my original jake wip so im really digging into the drafts for this one.
Tumblr media
he looked up from his desk, watching his student doodling on her paper. "y/n i know you’re not working on that letter”.
she looked up, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “yeah so? what are you going to do about it ? call principal holt ? oh i’m terrified”. her tone was sarcastic and demeaning.
jake sighed and rested his chin on his palm not breaking eye contact with the girl. “you’re such a bright student y/n i don’t understand why you’ve always got to get into trouble”
“yeah yeah yeah. i’ve heard it alll before. how about you keep grading papers and i keep doing what i’m doing and we get this hour done with”?
“y/n you need to finish that letter. you really hurt ms. santiago’s feelings with your comments earlier. you know she only wants to help you”.
you sighed and put your head down on the desk. “i know that..why can i just apologize in person or something”.
mr.peralta stood up and made his way towards you. “how about this y/n. you don’t have to finish the letter if you endure..a different kind of punishment”.
you raised your head and gave him a confused look. “you mean like stand in the corner..no thank you”?
he laughed, a deep throaty one. “no sweetheart that’s not what i mean. i’m going to bend you over my knee and teach you a bit of respect”.
you felt your skin grow warm at his comment. what were you supposed to say?
“well”?
you nodded reluctantly. it beat the alternative of having to sit and stare at the blank page for the next hour and a half.
“i’ll take the punishment”. you said reluctantly, standing to your feet your knees suddenly shaking. was your teacher always this hot ?
“smart girl”. he remarked, gesturing you over to him. “i’m sure you know what to do”.

A cosy fire
Here is a drabble for the twelth day of Promptober!
Written for: "Fire & Ice" for @flufftober and "Chaste kiss" for the sfw @kinktober2023 's list
Pairing: Jake Peralta/Amy Santiago No warnings Word count: 100
Jake and Amy escape for the weekend and land in the middle of a snowstorm... thankfully there is a fireplace to keep them warm and cosy!
Can be found on AO3!

Amy was very grateful to be inside, by the fireplace. She and Jake had gotten away from New York for the weekend, but this storm had taken them by surprise. Obviously, not completely –she always checked the weather— but it was more violent than it ought to be.
Outside, the wind was howling. Snowflakes crashed on the windows until only dampness remained and they couldn’t see five feet away.
Amy shuffled on the sofa and buried herself in Jake’s side. Her partner turned, smiled tenderly before kissing her cheek, then gave her a mug of hot chocolate. Very nice indeed.

Promises Made, Promised Kept.
Jake Peralta x G/N Reader - You made a promise, and it’s a promise you kept. - Words: 842. - Warnings: None.
Seventeen Years Old
You sit on the stoop of your now ex-partners house. You were arguing over nothing, again. However this fight was the one that made you realise you didn’t have the energy anymore. You didn’t want to put in the time or effort for nothing. Looking at your phone, you read over the last message you received from Jake.
10 min away
Looking at the time, it was coming close to fifteen minutes later. You weren’t surprised, Jake and time management were not on good terms at the best of times. You look away from your phone, leaning against the door behind you. Just as you shut your eyes, you hear the engine of his car turning the corner. Quickly standing up and collecting your belongings you walk to the curb, just as Jake was pulling up. You open the door, sitting in the passenger seat with a huff.
“Bad night?” Jake asks, taking off again.
“We broke up,” you replied.
“Oh shit. Okay yeah, bad night.”
“I’m just so tired y’know?” you whisper, looking out at the window. “I shouldn’t feel this tired if I actually loved them.”
Jake hummed in agreement. “We should do something.”
“I just want to go home.”
“You can’t go home when you’re this bummed out” You turned to face the man driving, looking at his smile. He looks over at you, his smile widening. “Let’s do something.”
You sigh, looking at your surroundings through the windshield. “We’re near the park, wanna go there?”
“Let’s go”.
Jake pulled into a carpark and you opened the door to the cool air. You shiver, pulling your jacket closer. Jake comes over and offers his arm. You let out a small laugh, holding on to the crook of his elbow. You both walk in silence, with no real direction in mind.
“Thanks for coming to my rescue” you say. “You didn’t have to.”
“I know,” Jake shrugs. “I wasn’t doing anything else anyway so why not help someone in distress.”
You laugh, looking up at Jake with a smile. He returns it, before spotting something behind you. His eyes lighten up. You follow his eyesight, seeing the playground. “Race you to the swings?”
You both run as soon as you finish your sentence, Jake just beating you. You sit down on one of the swings, slightly out of breath. You turn to Jake, seeing him swinging higher and higher. You laugh again. Jake slows down, looking over to you once he comes to a stop.
“It’s nice hearing you laugh,” he says. You feel your cheeks warm at his comment, and you look at the ground. You softly kick the bark at your feet.
“It’s nice being near someone who makes me laugh.”
“What happened? If you don’t wanna talk about it it’s okay, but I wanna know where to put them on my shitlist.”
“We just had another argument.” You whispered, kicking the bark a bit harder. “Over nothing. Again. And I realised I just couldn’t be bothered anymore.”
“Do you want my honest opinion?” Jake asked softly. You look back to him, nodding. “It’s their loss honestly. You’re an amazing person, and anyone would be lucky to date you.”
“You always know what to say to make me feel better. Maybe I should marry you” you said jokingly, looking back at the ground. You could hear Jake laugh softly.
“Promise?”
“Promise what?”
“Promise to marry me?”
“Yeah, sure Jake.”
Twenty Nine Years Old
You stand tall, watching the man you love finish his vowels. You smile softly as he finishes, looking down at your own notes before starting.
“I can’t remember how old we were, but I remember the night vividly. You had just picked me up from an ex’s house, with an intention to make my night better. We walked through the park like old people and then ran to the playground like children. You made me laugh, I told you my troubles, and then you made me promise that I would marry you. Well, here I stand, fulfilling that promise.” You look at Jake, watching as he laughs. “You somehow make me feel like I’m a hundred, but also like I’m ten. You’ve continued to make me laugh, you’ve continued to pick up my spirits and honestly, there's no one else I would rather marry. I’m glad I made that promise to you, and I’m glad it’s a promise I’ve managed to keep.”
Jake moved a hand to your cheek, wiping a lone tear away. You laugh, leaning into his hand.
“You have kissed a thousand times before, maybe more. But today, the feeling is new. You are longer partners and best friends, you’re now something more. Now, let’s make this union official, and seal it with the first kiss of the rest of your lives together.”
Jake grabs your cheeks, pulling you towards him. You laugh, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. Both pairs of lips meet in the middle at the same time. This is the best promise you’ve ever kept.

Jake Peralta x Reader -  Life changing celebrations with a unlikely duo: a lawyer and a detective. [2.2K Words]
Requested by: @shycollectionwolfstuff - I hope you enjoy and that you don’t mind me indulging in my own plot ideas. My apologies for taking so long to write it. <3
The muscles in your system ached from your sleep. The sunrise shone brightly behind your closed eyes as you twisted in your sheets, desperate for an extra five minutes in bed.
You knew it was early, too early to be a functioning human being. Before you could bury yourself in sleep, a pair of arms wrapped around your waist and pulled you forward into a sea of blankets and pillows. “Good morning Sunshine,” a husky voice, belonging to none other than Jacob Peralta, greeted you. “Up and at’em, Babe.”
Your boyfriend smiled when you pressed a groan into his chest. His eyes darting to your shared alarm clock, its blazing red numbers flashing as the time hit six in the morning. Jake dug within the sheets to bring your face up and towards his before planting a kiss on your nose, “We can do this!” He declared enthusiastically before whipping away the covers.
Today was the day.
You had been waiting for this day since you were a kid. Ever since little (Y/N) accidentally discovered the joys of Legally Blonde, Suits, and How to Get Away with Murder, she was fixated on a career in law. Whether it was environmental or business law, she was hooked on commanding a courtroom with her ingenious ideas and clever arguments.
Of course, this notion horrified some of the people in her life. Her adoptive dad, Raymond Holt, always had a distaste for lawyers. The profession contradicted everything he stood for: the validity of the justice system, rule and conduct, and his duty of putting away criminals. But seeing you light up the courtroom in your early years as a lawyer caused a change of heart.
Jake had felt the same way when he met you. He had terrible run-ins with lawyers over his years on the force, too many to count. A thousand of sleaze-balls trying to convince a room that hardened criminals were innocent. But when he saw you that day working a pro bono case, he believed every word you said and he knew you did too. Your eyes shone with compassion for the victim, a layer of sympathy in your voice as you walked the jury through the course of events. Jake knew then his life would change for the better and that he wanted to have the biggest pleasure of being your cheerleader.
After three years together, you’ve finally finished your doctorate in law studies and Jake got to be your sweet sweet date for the festivities. Today you get presented with your doctorate degree, and your entire circle was overjoyed with the news. The other half of your pair of adoptive fathers, Kevin Cozner, was particularly overjoyed since the new designation came with a professor position at Columbia University. Your entire extended family and the detective squad of the Ninety-Ninth precinct will be over at the Holt-Cozner house to celebrate your success before you walk on stage.
Jake was so excited to meet your family. He had many dinners with your parents before, more than either dad wanted, but this one was special. This time, Jake got to be a part of your story in a spectacular way.
Peralta helped you change into your graduation dress, its pink silk dripping over your lazy limbs. You sleepily did your hair and make-up as Jake put on his fanciest button-up and tie. Your boyfriend moved like a 1980s animated cartoon, his feet moving fast while running from room to room making sure that the cupcakes you prepared the night before were neatly packed while also double checking that his dress shoes were perfectly shiny. Your boyfriend’s arms were frantic while ushering you out of the apartment, one hand on the small of your back while the other carried your purse.
He kicked the door shut with his heel and as he whirled his head around you caught his lips in yours, slowing down his rushed heartbeat. The kiss was abrupt but there was a softness to it, something time-stilling about it. The cupcake container you held created a gap between the two of you. The space seemed to stretch for miles, but Jake’s hand never waivered from its place on you waist.
“I love you.” You whispered, planting another kiss on his chin.
“And I love you.” The detective replied with the ‘too’ dropped, because it wasn’t conditional to you loving him but a feeling that he harboured through his entire existence.
The party buzzed throughout the morning. In the midst of Jake helping Kevin prepare his famous rice dish, there were a hundred musings of your childhood: pictures in the kitchen of you and your first spelling bee prize, trinkets of handmade pottery you’ve made for father’s day.
Jake could hear your Uncle Henry embarrassing you in the other room, telling the squad a story from when you were interning at his firm, ‘And she stayed till after closing trying to fix the damn printer so the attorney could present in the morning!’. There was an echo of laughter and Peralta could already imagine your face blushing in a bright cherry shade.
His heart warmed. Jake always enjoyed his visits to your childhood home, especially when it included a slideshow of your baby pictures from your Aunt Janice and peaks into your childhood bedroom. He loved visiting so much that he almost felt guilty for what he was about to do.
On cue, Holt arrived in the room requesting you and the squad to follow him into the kitchen. Soon the kitchen was overwhelmed with detectives, with you placed right in the middle of the circle of officers. “I got a call from Lieutenant Hicks from our neighbouring precinct, there has been a hack on several precinct firewalls causing havoc with missing evidence and perpetrators running free from holding cells. We need to get back to work right away.” The kitchen quickly filled with shots of confused questions and protests, all of which were silenced with another command. “We don’t have time to discuss the details. All units are to report for duty immediately.”
The crowd dispersed with some unsatisfied grumbles. Only you, Jake, and your parents were left standing in the kitchen, the whistle of pots filled the thick silence. There was an immediate look of guilt radiating on Holt’s face. Though your dad usually bore a deadpanned face, you’ve grown to know the different shades of his expressions. “I am so sorry (Y/N), I know you’re walking the stage in a couple of hours but this will likely take up the rest of the morning.” He apologized, bringing in you into a hug. “The squad and I will try our best to make it back for the afterparty at Shaw's Bar.”
“I understand, stay safe you two.” You replied, turning out of your father’s hug to give Jake one. You were used to these inconvenienced instances by now. Even if it were your birthday or your tenth-grade talent show, you understood from an early age that there was always someone in need of saving; that the absence of Holt during bedtime stories meant that he was fulfilling his job.
The walk across from the stage was a lonely one, with only Kevin and some of your distant relatives cheering you on from the sidelines. But you strode confidently through the rest of the celebration, head held high and your pride in yourself never wavering.
After the last of the names were called and the speeches from your professors were finished, you rushed outside to the university gardens with your purple and white New York University graduation gown swaying in the winds. Kevin was the first to greet you, engulfing you in an embrace that almost made your doctorate cap fall. He pulled away excitedly, gifting you a Columbia sweatshirt that had  ‘Professor Holt-Cozner’ embroidered on the sleeve. “I also got us matching lunch bags,” Kevin admitted with a shyness in his voice, “I know it’s not necessarily ‘hip’ to eat lunch with your dad but I hope you will at least give your old man a nod across the cafeteria.” He joked.
You gave him a look, taken aback by his language “Dad, did you just use several informal nouns and an expression within the same sentence for humour reasons?” You teased, giving your father a look.
The two of you shared a smile before the moment was interrupted by a loud ringing coming from your gown pocket. Your eyes scanned the phone screen, there were flashing letters telling you the district attorney was calling. “Hello District Attorney Melvin, what can I do for you?” You greeted, taken aback by the random call. It’s been years since you’ve taken a public case.
You heard a rustling of papers on the other end of the line before the DA spoke ‘(Y/N), thank you for taking my call. I understand it’s been a while since you’ve worked at the office, but I have received a concerning call that a Jacob Peralta was taken into processing at the Seven-Four and is in need of legal representation.’
“The Seven-Four? Has that precinct been hacked as well?” Concern rippled through your body, unable to maintain your composure as you shot worried glances toward Kevin. “Nevermind, I’m on my way. Thank you for the call, Melvin.”
The tips of your toes carried you up the stairs and into the precinct, your legs moving unfamiliarly as you tried to navigate the different levels of the building. You could feel your dad following closely behind you, making sure your dress didn’t snag on anything.
The rest of your family party excused themselves home, the festivities of your day were long forgotten as you let your heart panic with anxiety at what’s to come. You can feel your heart beat rapidly as you made your way towards the interrogation room, guided by a police officer you’d already forgotten the name of. Your mind immediately went towards a million situations, all of which were some version of the worst-case scenario: Was Jake framed for a crime he didn’t commit? How will you be able to defend your way out of this one? Why is the officer leading you towards the roof?
Your feet halted with the soft click of your heels silencing. You only now take notice that Kevin had stopped following you as the officer tipped his hat towards you without another word. Lost at what to do next, you had no choice but to go through the roof door. The Brooklyn night air stuck to your skin, its humidity mixing in with your anxiety sweats.
There on the roof, surrounded by fairy lights and rose petals, stood your boyfriend.
Before you could scold Jake for causing you to panic with another one of his pranks, he silenced your worries with a light touch of your hand. Peralta pulled you into his embrace so that the two of you were touching chest to chest, your body immediately melted into his touch, your mind already forgetting about your other worries.
“There wasn’t an emergency at the precinct was there?” You asked, suspicion lacing your voice as your nose scrunched. For a lawyer, you weren’t very good at deducing the situation.
“Nope,” He admitted smugly, “The Seven-Four: the precinct I worked at before coming to the Nine-Nine and also the day I decided that I wanted to marry you.” Jake was beyond nervous at this point but he wasn’t going to back down now. Despite the slick of his palms and the butterflies erupting in his chest, he continued carrying on with his monologue. “It was the fourth of July and we were celebrating at your uncle’s house. As fireworks blew up in the air, you said that you wanted to host a barbeque ten times as festive as the one he was hosting.” The detective began kneeling down on one knee, reaching into his pocket, “And that was the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard, especially coming from someone whose dads are not quite the festive type.” He joked, finally revealing the ring. Jake took a deep breath, the tremble in his fingers giving away his jitters. Even in the months of preparing this ruse and lying about his whereabouts, the gravity of the situation hadn’t hit him until now. “You make everything into a celebration, and I want to be a part of that. (Y/N) Holt-Cozner, will you marry me?”
The air thickened around you and you suddenly couldn’t breathe. You bent down towards Jake, not being able to bear the solo attention for too long. Your eyes began to water, feeling at a loss for words. “Yes,” you whispered. The word sounded like a promise, a spell that engraved your life with Jake’s forever. “Yes, I’d love to marry you.”
The roof terrace erupted in cheers causing you to fall into Jake with surprise. Applause erupted from the squad with your family and friends emerging from hidden corners. Your now fiancé slipped the ring onto your finger and the two of you stood up to accept the many congratulations. The night spurred with energy as tables were quickly set up and Shaw’s Bar was brought up to the top of the Seventy-Fourth precinct.
“So,” You began once you had a moment with Jake alone, “Why the elaborate prank?” Your question held no malice, only amusement your partner’s playful ways.
Jake shook his head with a smile, bringing you closer to plant a kiss on your forehead “For the shock factor Babe, obviously.”
You rolled your eyes playfully, turning your attention to the rest of the squad. Jake was right, you knew that there is always a need for spectacle with him, obviously. And you also knew that your prank loving fiancé meant well; that missing your graduation was just the small price he had to pay for the proposal to go smoothly.
As you chanced a glance at Jake while everyone was taking turns at giving toasts, your couldn’t help but consider yourself so lucky. The detective who helped your father find your family pet, Cheddar, when he got taken away, your best friend who was with you when your parents were going through a rocky time, and your lover when it came to all things celebratory is now your fiancé!
If you had told little (Y/N) that her love for Legally Blonde, Suits, and How to Get Away with Murder would cause her to meet the man of her dreams she wouldn’t have believed you. And even presently, as you stood hugging Jake’s side, you were a little lost for words.
‘Shock factor accomplished.’ You mumbled to yourself with a smile as you pulled the detective closer to you. And you could’ve sworn you saw a ghost of a smile grace on Jake’s face as you did.

Nervous Amy and Happy Jake
Fandom: Brooklyn 99
Characters: Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago
Words: 343
Really small drabble with my beloved Amy and Jakie :3c istg its gonna have like 3 likes (one of them is going to be mine)
;
“Are you? Oh my god you are!!” Jake exclaimed brightly. His face shined with a big grin and eyes lit up, looking at Amy.
Amy on the other side was terrified, she nervously shifted on the couch on which they were re-watching “die hard” when Jake accidentally grabbed her side - causing her to flinch.
“What are you talking about?” She smiled nervously. Eyes big, watching every movement of the guy in front of her.
He froze for a second, thinking about his life decisions. Screw it.
Amy couldn’t react properly because in a second he already put his arms around her, rubbing his knuckles into her ribs, causing the cutest giggles he has ever heard. Corners of her mouth went upwards until she broke into a wide smile, causing Jake’s heart to melt at this stage
“WhaaAAAt” He almost screamed over her laughing, he was too entertained by this.
“No way, how I never thought that you would be ticklish???” He overreacted as always, wriggling his brows. Making her laugh ever more, scrunching her nose in a cute manner
Her hands clung to his, trying her best to push Jake away, but she was too weak right now. Let boy to have his fun
“JaHhaeHEeke, sTHOhop IT” Of course he is not going to kill his girl. He put his hands away, now looking at her from upside down, as she laid on her back. Heavily breathing stopped and now she was all red, hair looked messy, eyes twinkling with mischief. He loved every second of it
“Come here” She waved her hand, showing him to bent down to her. Jake bented slowly, he wasn’t so sure what she wanted to do. Amy got up a little on her elbows and kissed him on the lips. He immediately melted into her touch, leaning forward.
She quickly raised her hand, brushing under his chin, making him broke the kiss and chuckle. He raised his shoulders as well. Such a cute sight for her.
They both forgot the movie for the looong time ;)
