She Darmok on my Jalad ‘till I Tanagra

Boss I can't come in today I watched a Star Trek TNG episode and I have to ponder and ache. Yeah it was Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra. Yeah I might need the whole week

I like to think that after the Darmok episode, all future relations that the Federation had with the Tamarians(I think that’s what they’re called) were led by Captain Picard because he was the only one, in HUNDREDS OF YEARS, to even remotely understand what they were saying. Like, he fought side by side with another Tamarian captain, which helped him learn their language. And that like, other people tried it at first after that incident but it just didn’t work. So they went to Captain Picard like “hey, uh… you’re like the only person that gets these guys so help us out pls”.

And also, the Tamarians have a lot of respect for Picard because he stayed with their captain till the end and gave back their captain’s log.

I just think that would be so cool if Picard was like the only person who could really speak their language and understand and is the reason that the Tamarians eventually become very strong allies of the Federation.

So yeah that’s my headcanon

Picard and Dathon at El-Adrel

I usually just do a few pictures from multiple episodes for these posts but the unhinged commentary between my friend @petracourtjester and I throughout this one was too good to not share. Plus, it’s “Darmok”.

For some context, this is her 1st time watching Star Trek and my 3rd time (I think?) watching "Darmok" specifically. First time I watched it I was too young to really understand what was happening.
