midnight in the ocean
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In which Geto is a sweet pea and tries to help you, but you’re just not a morning person.
2.2k words, fluff
Tumblr media
Mornings were easily your least favorite part of the day. You were a night owl and as such, spent the dark hours of the night searching random questions on Google like Why are clouds white? and scrolling through Tiktok. However, recently your late night plans had been foiled by a certain long haired, gauge wearing sorcerer whose name might rhyme with meadow. Geto had been on a crusade to get you to bed earlier ever since you had slept through three alarms and six phone calls from him the morning of a semi-important (read: very important) mission a week earlier. So what if you had been a little late? A few hours late when a curse had been there for weeks really didn’t make a difference. (Only… it did. You had been assigned the mission with specific directions to attack the curse at sunrise because that had been its weakest point during the day, before it could take cover in a dark crevasse of the abandoned building it was inhabiting. Something about it being manifested by people’s fear of the dark and it being afraid of the rising sun. Instead of an easy fight like you had expected, you had been thrown through a few more walls than you would’ve liked.)
Ever since, Geto had been trying his hardest to get you to bed early to avoid any other possible incidents. He was being ‘responsible.’ Whatever.
Attempt 1
First, he had taken your phone and hid it deep within the confines of his baggy pants after returning to the dorms from an outing with your classmates.
“Are you serious right now? Give me my phone back, Geto.” He shot you back his tight lipped smile, eyes shaped like crescent moons.
“Ah, no can do. You need to start a habit of getting to bed earlier. What better way to do that than to rid yourself of your main distraction?” Your jaw dropped. The audacity of this man to act like you were an unruly child in need of parenting. Sure, was it a little irresponsible to keep up your night owl activities when you had to be up early in the morning some days? Yes, you could admit that. But that didn’t mean you needed someone else, someone your own age, to parent you.
“If you think that putting my phone in your pants is going to stop me from getting it, you really must not know me well enough.” You challenged, eyes narrowing so that he knew you meant business. He just continued to smile back at you in a way that was starting to feel a little condescending.
“Try it.”
This had ended with you crouching on top of Geto, foot to his neck, and hand fishing down his pants. (Awkward in retrospect, but you were desperate and on a mission to get your phone before your favorite Tiktoker went on live for the night. You only wished that Gojo hadn’t been walking by at the same time. He now had a plethora of pictures from what he deemed “the indecent incident” and was determined to remind you of it every chance he got.)
Attempt 2
The next thing Geto tried was another tactic that made you feel like an unruly 5 year old. A knock on your dorm door had you pausing the DIY rug making video you had been watching and rolling your desk chair over to answer it. Standing on the other side of it was Geto wearing his signature smile once again. He was clad in his silky black pajamas and had his eye mask sitting on top of his head.
“Can I help you with something?” You rolled your eyes, knowing that him showing up at your door at 11PM meant he was trying to prove a point.
“Yes, you can.” He said cheerily. Much too cheerily for past 10. This was ‘me’ time that he was interrupting. “You can try these.” He held up a purple jar with Z’s plastered on the label. “Maybe then you can get to bed at a reasonable hour. You do know that we are supposed to be on the road to exorcize that cursed spirit at the elementary school by 8AM tomorrow?” You stuck out your hand to grab the jar and leaned your head closer to the label to see exactly what he meant by these.
For a healthy sleep cycle. SLEEP! No next day grogginess!
“Are these…” You started, “Melatonin gummies?” He happily nodded his head, his inky bangs swaying back and forth as he did so. You could feel your blood pressure rising with irritation that he had interrupted your ‘me’ time for something so stupid. You still had 20 minutes left on your rug making video and there could be dire consequences if you didn’t finish it. Didn’t he understand that? So, out of frustration, you aimed for the biggest target (his head) and threw.
You were late again the next morning.
Attempt 3
It was a few days later when sitting at a bench along the many walkways around the school, ready to chow down on your lunch of leftover pepperoni pizza, Geto plopped down on the bench beside and laid a white, half moon shaped contraption between you.
“Uh, what is that thing?” You asked with a mouthful of pizza, closing the latest edition of a teen gossip magazine that you had been lazily flipping through.
“A sound machine, it makes a variety of sounds and the reviews say that it helps put babies to sleep.” You could already feel a vein throbbing on your forehead at the thought of Geto treating you like a kid once again. He began pressing buttons on the machine to show you just how many it made. After shuffling through fan noises, whale noises, and copious static noises, you placed your hand on top of his as a signal to stop.
Closing your eyes, the words began to roll out before you could stop them, “Look, it’s not that I’m against going to bed early and going on a normal sleep routine. I go to bed late because I have a hard time sleeping by myself. At home, I always had someone around. I shared a room with my sister, so I never had to sleep alone. I just… don’t feel safe when I sleep alone.” You sighed, feeling embarrassed to admit the real reason behind your wacky sleep schedule.
Geto’s signature smile lit up his face. “Why didn’t you just tell me that? We could’ve had this solved so much sooner!”
“Yeah, how?” You asked, confused and eyebrow raised.
“I’ll just sleep in your room from now on.” Time screeched to a halt. Birds stopped chirping. Wind stopped flowing. Did… you hear him correctly?
“Do you know how seriously indecent it is for you to propose something like that?!? What kind of girl do you take me for??” You rolled up the magazine you had been flicking through and began hitting that tall pervert with it like he deserved.
“Ah no! You misunderstand. I only mean to help, nothing indecent! I’ll sleep on the floor. Just so that I’m in the room and it’ll be enough for you to comfortably fall asleep.”
You paused in your magazine assault and contemplated this offer. You did love having the extra time to browse the internet, but you were always sluggish in the morning and didn’t recover until late afternoon. As much as you tried to hide it, it was really starting to drag you down.
Hesitantly you replied, “Okay… we’ll try it. But no funny business, I’m serious! One weird look and you’re getting kicked out.” You waved the curled magazine around in the air to emphasize your point.
That night, right as the clock struck 9:30, you heard a steady knock, knock, knock on your door. Opening the door, a pajama-clad Geto Suguru leaned into your doorway, pillow and blanket in hand. “Are you ready for our sleepover?”
You blinked twice and tried to remind (read: convince) yourself that this was a good idea. As long as no one (Gojo) found out.
“Come in,” you said with an arm extended to the small space. “You can set your stuff up right here. I moved my rug to the corner so that you had some space.” You pointed to the cherry print rug wadded up in a haphazard ball. Rug making had not exactly worked out well for you, so that may as well be its home forever. You sat on the edge of your bed, nails digging into the soft down bedding, as Geto arranged his things on the floor. You were nervous. You’d never had a guy sleep over before, even if this wasn’t like that.
Geto had placed his striped blanket directly on the floor and his pillow in the opposite direction of where yours laid on your bed. “Are you sure you’re going to be comfortable sleeping on the floor? I feel kind of bad… since you’re the one doing me a favor.”
“I’ll be fine. As long as this helps you, I’m happy.” There was that smile again. You would never admit it out loud, but his smile felt like warm rays of sunshine and you were thawing from the cold. He truly was a kind soul. What kind of person sacrifices their own comfort just to make sure that their classmate can get a good night’s rest? A generous one.
Biting down on your bottom lip, maybe it was your nerves talking, but you couldn’t help but offer, “Do you want to sleep on the bed? I feel really bad about you sleeping on the floor. I could make an indestructible pillow wall to separate us.” You fidgeted with a string on your plaid pajama bottoms, unable to look him in the eye while you offered and awaited his answer.
“Sure, I’ll even help you build the wall. I need to make sure you don’t cut corners and damage the structural integrity of it.” He winked. You felt a quick flutter in your stomach, gone almost as fast as it had come. Together, you worked quickly to arrange the pillows into double layered stacks neatly down the middle of the bed, with the occasional break to hit each other with them. Designating the wall side to Geto, you watched as he climbed over the pillow wall to lay down. You gulped, feeling your pulse quicken. Are we really about to do this?
Geto extended a long arm and patted your side of the bed. “No sense in wasting more time. If we don’t get to bed now, we’ll continue your bad habit.”
Wrapping your blanket tightly around your shoulders, you nodded your head and flicked off the corner lamp. Moonlight continued to flood in through the windows on the other side of the room. Your feet made a light pitter patter as you took a few small steps to get to the bed, now with considerably less space due to the large man laying in it. Geto slid his finger through the black elastic holding his hair in a bun and flicked it to the floor. His hair fell down past his shoulders in dark waves like the ocean at midnight. He was beautiful. This wasn’t calming your nerves one bit. Still, gaining your courage, you gently laid next to your artfully built wall of fluff and turned your head up to the man occupying your bed.
“Thank you for doing this. It was really kind of you.” A pink blush began to fill the apples of your cheeks and you could only hope that it was hidden by the darkness in the room. Geto didn’t say anything, instead opting to pat your head with his large hand, fingers dipping into your hair. Closing your eyes, you felt more comfort than you had ever felt, even at home. You knew, with one half of the strongest duo laying next to you, there wasn’t a safer place in the world than where you were at this moment.
As sleep began to take its hold, you almost caught a whispered voice replying, “For you? Anything.”
Sometime during the night, the pillow wall had scattered across the bed and a strong, muscled arm made its way around your stomach. The both of you chose not to mention it in the morning.
It had been a month since you started this charade and you had never felt better. Who knew a full night’s sleep (conveniently with your own personal very attractive furnace) could make you feel so great? With a sigh, you turned over to face the formidable pillow wall between you and Geto, only to find him peering over it already awake. You giggled, butterflies fluttering through your stomach. That had been happening more often around Geto recently. His gentle manner and the way he took care of you had caused feelings to blossom deep down in your chest.
“You know,” you said quietly, your voice barely above a whisper, “I’ve never been a morning person, but then I started waking up to your face and… Maybe mornings aren’t that bad, after all.”
You never had a problem getting to sleep early again. Geto made sure of that.
fin.
Inspired by a prompt from @dumplingsjinson on Tumblr! Cross posted to ao3.
I demand more Geto fluff!!!! I can fix him, I swear! I had a blast writing this (even though it was at 1AM…). The writing bug caught me and I couldn’t stop until I was done.

Can you imagine everyone in the suitcase getting together to prepare the Foundation Kids’ first Christmas 🥹🥹🥹
The gift exchanging and the cuteness would be the most wholesome thing! Little Santa hats for all! Honestly this became a long list of HCs and not all of them are related to Christmas. It'll be Crew member and Vertin interactions because it'd be a lot to do it both ways for every single character. My ears are open for anyone who wants to share their HCs!
Regulus (actually Apple) gives a Vertin a set of high quality paint brushes. She also gives her also a weird rotund plushy with this face
• _ •
This is the real one Regulus picked but she and Apple work as a pair. She says it's face reminded her of Vertin. Vertin will keep this new friend among her growing collection of oddities from her crew members. She keeps everything they give her, even if it's just a pretty marble.
Joshua gives her a DIY woodworking book and then brings up his bookshelf being broken (hidden agenda!) At first the others are like "wth?" but Vertin seems to love it. You know the little game pieces we see throughout the game to represent the characters? Vertin makes something similar with her new skill and they use them when developing strategies. Jessica and Sonetto like to help her paint them. Druvis gives her tips (since she's a wandmaker she has more experience). Also, Vertin does fix his shelf eventually and made a few adjustments so it won't break again.
I see Vertin as the type who can figure out those God awful assembly instructions with 70 different letters and numbers labeling everything. For tech stuff, Regulus and Joshua have them covered. They try not to ask X if they can help it because despite being a genuis he always adds an unnecessary feature. No I don't need my camera have a "brew coffee" function!
None of the "fix-it" people above can put together a proper meal though.
Madam Z is invited but couldn't make it (Constantine at it again). She sends Vertin a very elegant coat with a water proof enchantment to keep her both warm and dry. She she noticed Vertin's grown a bit taller and she'll most likely need a new coat.
Tooth Fairy also couldn't make it (helping Madam Z so she can get leave the office sooner and they can celebrate with wine). She sends Vertin a jar of candies and a finely crafted pocket knife. Why a pocket knife? No one knows for sure. Despite no one getting it at first, whenever they have a package they can't open, a freshly picked fruit from the garden, etc. they ask Vertin if she has her knife. Of course she does. She's Suitcase Dad lol. Tooth Fairy was predicting the future.
Sotheby will give her candies that are actually healing potions! It's one of her newest creations! They're more convenient than carrying potion bottles. There are a few...side effects but nothing too major. Vertin is extremely grateful for this and carries a few in her pocket at all times in case someone gets hurt. This usually ends up being herself (in combat) or Sotheby tripping and scraping her knees, palm, etc. She'll hesitate to take the candy herself (because what if someone else needs it later?), even when she's barely standing but heaven forbid one of her people gets a boo-boo or a bruise. It's frustrating as it is endearing.
Sonetto gives her a tin of her favorite brand of tea and a thermal blanket. Vertin's the type of person with a cooler body temperature. In winter, her hands are freezing! This worries Pupnetto even though the Foundation trains them to endure cold temperatures. However, most of the other members end up snuggling in the heated blanket, including Sonetto herself (she is slowly unlearning the Foundation's way of suffering pointlessly) but she will share it with Vertin when she does. Vertin doesn’t mind. Honestly, Sonetto is hot blooded (the opposite of her) so having her nearby makes it warmer anyway.
And Sonetto's always at her side. She doesn't worry about the cold.
Druvis gives Vertin a wand with her arcanum built into it. It's shaped like a pistol, similar to Schneider's but it's nonlethal. The "bullets" are infused with the slime from Druvis's thorns and can hinder enemy movements (inflict petrify status). This way she can "protect" Vertin even if they're apart. With more eyes on the Suitcase than ever, she believes Vertin needs to take extra precautions. Vertin takes very good care of the gun (though she's never had to use it in real combat yet) and when they do co-op missions with other departments it garners a lot of attention from the soldiers.
Druvis is not accepting requests at this time.
Blonney gives her an ugly Christmas sweater but her gag gift backfires when Vertin looks cute. Stupid yes, but cute. Also the fabric is very soft and Vertin seems very cozy inside.
Later, Blonney gives her the real gift. She was too shy to give it to her in front of the others but there's a hand written card thanking her everything she's done for her and Jessica. There's money in the card of course. Jen also gives her a little short story she wrote. Not a horror one, but a sweet one about a curious kitten going on misadventures and making friends. Vertin can immediately tell its based on the shenanigans she gets into with her crew members. Blonney doesn't stick around long (blushing too hard) but Vertin is moved by this. The crew members are represented by their Udimos!
Jessica gives Vertin a doll (think chibi) she made that looks like the Timekeeper and it has removable accessories. For Christmas, the chibi Vertin is wearing a Santa suit. Sometimes the doll goes missing from her shelf if she's gone for more than a day (work relates reasons). 98% of the time it's with Sonetto who crumbles like a guilty puppy if Vertin asks about its whereabouts. The separation anxiety is real. Vertin recognizes this and eventually says it looks happier in Sonetto's room. She asks Sonetto to please take good care of her (the doll). Vertin also makes more effort to "call" home or send a message with arcanum tech after this event.
She's not used to having people wait for her at home, but one day in the near future she will be.

DIY: Summer Citrus Sugar Scrub
Tumblr media
Rejuvenate and revive your skin with this easy citrus sugar scrub recipe. With only 3 ingredients you probably already have on hand, you’ll be ready to whip up this gentle exfoliating body scrub in no time!
Sugar Scrub, or body polish is a luxurious way to refresh your skin. It is so gentle that it can even be used on sensitive skin.
Exfoliating body scrub makes a great shower favor, quick gift, treat for yourself or a hostess gift when you are welcomed to a friend’s beach house.  This jar will keep my skin happy all summer long!
Keep a jar of this sugar scrub by your kitchen to soothe your hands after washing dishes. It will rehydrate your skin from the harshness of the hot water and dish soap. Keep a jar of sugar scrub in the shower for a mini spa treatment up to 3 times a week!
Citrus Sugar Scrub Recipe Ingredients
It’s made with just a few ingredients, from your kitchen!
Sugar – 1/2 cup of regular white table sugar is perfect for this diy sugar scrub! It exfoliates your skin, gentling rubbing away dead skin cells leaving your skin feeling smooth and radiant.
Oil – I use 1/4 cup Vitamin E Oil in this recipe which is so good for your skin. Its anti inflammatory properties soothes and calms, while hydrating dry skin and working to heal any blemishes.
Citrus – Is so good for your body inside and out! Naturally full of vitamin C it leaves your skin with a beautiful glow! It also can help to lighten sun spots or other blemishes on your skin. I love the texture and beautiful color the citrus adds along with its amazingly refreshing scent!  You can use the zest from one Orange, Grapefruit, or Lemon, or 2 Limes, in this recipe.
*** Zest is made from the top layer of a fruit peel. Always try to avoid the white pith. If you don’t have a zester, you can use a vegetable peeler to gently peel the top layer of your fruit. Then cut the strips into finer strips lengthwise, and then again into tiny cubes widthwise.
Tumblr media
Supplies
Large Glass Mixing Bowl
Handheld Citrus Zester (variations under Tips and Tricks)
Spatula
Measuring Cups
Sealable Glass Jars (I like to use mason jars or repurpose clean jars I already own)
Ice Cream Scoop
Tumblr media
How to Make Exfoliating Body Scrub
This scrub is so easy to make. It only contains natural ingredients and no artificial food colorings.
Combine sugar and oil.
2. Add zest.
Tumblr media
3. Scoop into sealable glass jars.
4. Label and date.
5. Store for up to 3 months in an airtight container.
Variations
This sugar scrub recipe is so easy to customize to fit your needs!
Citrus Variations – In this recipe I use orange, but any other citrus would work well! In the past, I have used grapefruit, orange, lime, and lemon. They all have worked wonderfully! If using lime I chose to use the zest from 2 limes since they are smaller sized fruit.
Oil Variations – Vitamin E Oil, Coconut Oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Carrot Oil, Argan Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Grapeseed Oil.
Sugar Variations – Any white sugar should work well in this recipe. Sugar is used for a gentle exfoliation so keep that in mind when choosing the coarseness of the sugar.
For a winter sugar scrub try adding a dash of ground cloves or ground cinnamon.
Add a few drops of essential oils. My favorite combinations include other citrus oils to complement and enhance, floral scents such as moroccan rose or lavender, and woody scents such cedar or rosemary.
Pro Tip: If using coconut oil, it will help to slightly warm the oil on the stovetop or even the microwave before adding it to the mixture. I love coconut oil and lime combination!
How to Store Sugar Scrub
This Sugar Scrub recipe can be stored for up to 3 months in a properly sealed jar / airtight container.
PRO TIP: Upcycle jars you already own!

Some creative gift ideas for all the uncreative people out there who are sick of giving basic ass gifts (budget friendly)
- Go to the store. Find your way to the candle aisle. Now what you’re gonna do is smell candles until you find one that has a smell that reminds you of the person you’re gifting for. Buy it. When you get home, get out your computer and get on canva. Make a custom label with the person’s name on it, the fragrance notes, and a short, sweet description of that person and why those smells remind you of them. Then print it out and make it into a sticker (you can easily make a sticker with large clear tape over the print, just look up DIY stickers). Take off the original label and put the hand made sticker on instead. If you want, you could even make a candle out of wax melts, a mason jar, and some wicks if you feel like it.
- If you are good with crafts, USE THOSE TO YOUR ADVANTAGE.
-If you can knit or crochet, make a blanket, scarf, a pair of mittens, or a stuffed animal.
- Take a picture frame. Get a printed picture of you and the person. Press flowers (if you’re lazy, you can literally press flowers in the microwave in less than two minutes. Look it up.). Arrange the flowers and picture in the frame how you want (be sure to wear gloves and clean the glass first! You dont want there to be eternal fingerprints on the glass!) and grab the tacky glue. Gently apply a small dab of tacky glue to each flower and glue it firmly in place. Do the same with the picture. Close up the frame, wrap, and you are GOLDEN.
- Go to the store. Grab a travel cup or mug (or go to the person’s favorite coffee shop and buy a travel mug there). Go to the candy aisle. Grab a bag of their favorite candy, along with two king sized candy bars, and any other little knickknacks you think they might like. Put it all in the cup and put on the lid.
- Grab a box. Figure out the person’s favorite color. Go to Dollar Tree, Five Below, Walmart, Target, wherever you want. Just find things in that person’s favorite color. Socks, gloves, candy, drinks, accessories, gift cards, candles, soaps, anything. Grab some easter basket filler paper (idk what it’s actually called) in that color (or if it doesn’t come in that color, do black or white. Those will do.) and some construction paper in that color. Now, add the filler paper, then the knickknacks, then glue or tape the construction paper to the inside of the cardboard lid. Write a note if you want. Wrap it up and you are good to go.
-Make jewelry. Trust me. All you need is a chain, a clasp, some charms/beads, and a pair of pliers. The rest is kind of self explanatory but if you don’t understand this explanation for some reason feel free to ask.
- Put together a small thrifted surprise box for the person (wash the clothes first though and make sure they’re okay with that sort of thing!)
- Make something out of clay. Jewelry, room decor, etc.
- Go find one of those letter cutout boxes with the letter of their first initial. Find fake flowers in their favorite color (you can probably find this at dollar tree), then go find a bunch of small knickknacks like jewelry, candy, soaps, etc. Grab floral foam. Fill the letter box with floral foam (if you want, spray paint the box first) Stab the flowers into the floral foam. Grab kabob sticks, cut to desired length. Tape the knickknacks to the kabob sticks and stab them into the floral foam like you did the flowers.
- Go to a thrift store. First go to the basket section. Find a picnic basket. Then go find some teacups, a small charcuterie board, pretty plates, and maybe some pretty silverware (or if you think it would be weird to do silverware from a thrift store, grab it from walmart or target or smth) If you’re an adult, go ahead and find a wine glass or two. After that, you want to go to Walmart. Find a picnic blanket, or a picnic table cloth. If you get the picnic table cloth and have ametuer sewing skills, grab two. Then grab some of the person’s favorite snacks and drinks. Go home and put it all together in the basket. If you chose to grab two table cloths so you can sew, measure the interior of the picnic basket and (assuming it’s square) cut out the dimensions on one of the table cloths and sew them together into a “box” (pattern facing the inside of the box, fuzzy part outside) and put the “box” inside the picnic basket. Now it has a cute, protective interior inside, and the other tablecloth can be used as a picnic blanket. Once its all arranged, you have made a cute picnic set for the person!
- Find a book you like, reread it, and annotate it for them. Then wrap it up. Typically you want a new book for this.
- Go to a craft store. Buy a baseball cap or a cute hat with nothing on it, or if you want, grab a tote bag or something. Grab fabric paint. Custom paint the item for the person.

I have no idea how I ended up in this rabbit hole, one second I was researching something about the second game and the next I was crying my eyes out watching that part where Ellie goes back to Joel`s house and ho boy! When I tell you I went through all the stages of grief all at once I mean it. And now I have to process this, cause I have thoughts!
Tumblr media
This always gets me, cause look at all those flowers and cards! Joel was LOVED, people in that town knew him, cared about him and now they are grieving him. Not only that, they know and care about Ellie too and they want to support her through this awful time, show their love. They both live in a community that cares about their own. There are no words to make a loss like that better, nothing could possibly fix it, but having people care and be there for you? It still makes all the difference.
Tumblr media
And now we go in, the house looks so peaceful and inviting. And it’s just a small thing, but I love the figurines on the coat rack. At this point Joel is gone, but you can feel his presence at every turn, as if he`s about to step into the room and invite you for coffee. There is so much personality in that house.
Tumblr media
I love the living room, there is so much light and space and it`s filled with books and art and things to enjoy with other people. And there is the TV! So that means this is where the movie nights were held! And that table is perfect for board games. And on the mantel there is Ellie's drawing of Joel. He actually framed it and displayed it in the central place of the most public room in his house, you know, like a proud dad!
Tumblr media
Also at this point I have to bring back this gem! May I present to you Joel's drawing of Ellie. I guess it`s safe to assume that the talent skipped a generation. (It was a collectible that never made it into the actual  game, but I love it so much I just kind of ignore that fact!)
Tumblr media
And right next we have a dining room, with a big table and another fireplace. It’s a room ready for entertaining, for friends, for family, for dinner parties and game nights. And in the corner there is a  bar cart and a wine rack with some fancy looking bottles. There is also a nice tea set and an electrical kettle (although why would it live in the dining room and not in the kitchen beats me).
There are also two jars labeled “beans” and “seeds” on the shelf for some reason and one that I`m scared to ask about. I guess you need snack with all that alcohol?
Tumblr media
We also have this photo, it looks like it was taken at some sort of party, Christmas perhaps? We can see Jessie, Ellie, Tommy, Maria and the fifth person that kinda looks like Joel? His general outline and the flannel would suggest its him, but why is he seated so far away from Ellie? Unless it was taken sometime during their estranged. Or Joel was sitting on Ellie`s right and was actually taking the picture. If the first I have so many questions!
Tumblr media
Now that’s a huge ass kitchen! And it`s so well equipped, I don’t have half of those appliances in mine. It looks like a kitchen of someone who not only knows how to cook, but also enjoys it a lot. Also that to-go coffee cup is killing me, don’t ask me why.
Tumblr media
Nothing to see here, just a girl crying over an owl mug. Let’s move on!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love all of those details, because they show how much Joel was taking care of his house and himself. He was keeping it nice and clean, the things have their proper place and he was doing or planning on doing some DIY projects or remodeling. It`s all so intentional and comes from a place of care. Also he has linen shelves and even an iron and an ironing board. You better believe all those flannels were always nice and ironed.
Tumblr media
I`m going to repeat myself, but I love this house and how bright and specious it is. And the fact there are painting all over, mostly of horses, it’s just so Joel. And on the landing we have this photo of Miller brothers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is my favorite room in the house, it always moves me so much, because there is something so human about it. Once Joel was no longer forced to burn all his energy on survival he turned towards arts almost immediately. He spent over 20 years barely being human at all, refusing to live, refusing to see the world. And now he`s healed enough to search for beauty, to let himself be surrounded by it. You can survive without it art, but you can’t live without it. And I like to think it gave him some peace.
Tumblr media
I just wanted to include this too, because Joel and Ellie`s studios mirror each other so much, just like the artists themselves. And it always makes me cry that Ellie kept that rodeo figurine, Joel`s very last work of art…
Tumblr media
Just a quick detour into this bathroom, because it`s just another way to show that Joel took really good care of himself, he spent time on his grooming routine and he wanted to look presentable.
(Although the twigs have me baffled again, what are they for?)
Tumblr media
I also had to include this, cause it’s the most contraaactor thing, just look at this contraption! I bet it works like a charm!
Tumblr media
Joels closet, with all his jackets and his pack. I wish we got to see him rocking that pink-sleeved jacket! I mean, c`mon!
Tumblr media
Just a quick look into the second bathroom, because it’s a very silly place and I need a breather before we do the next part. There is a mirror missing here for some reason (I have a hunch it`s the one Ellie has in her garage house thing) and there are some mysterious bottles in the bathtub and a pot on a counter for some reason? And it sits on an electric cooker? What is going on here? What are you cooking, Joel? Meth?
Tumblr media
Okay, this place really pulls on my heartstrings. The photo of Sarah, that once upon a time Joel was unable to even have in his possession, let alone look at it, is now on full display. He is able to live and be reminded of her every day and for those memories not to kill him, but rather hold him. He`s finally able to look at that photo and feel something other than pain. And right next to it, there`s a photo of him and Ellie (and a horsie, Shimmer perhaps?), Ellie looks very young in that one, so it`s most likely from their early years in Jackson. And both of those photos sit on a dresser right next to his bedroom, so he sees them every day right after he wakes up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also a candle right next to Sarah`s picture and I believe it`s for both of his daughters. In memory of Sarah and as a guiding light for Ellie, to help her find her way home.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joel`s bedroom is such a cozy place, he has a nice chair for reading and listening to music and he even has one of his guitars there. I also really love that wooden Texas outline, I bet he carved himself. And he has a silly throw pillow, we have so much in common!
Tumblr media
And it`s time for some more crying, because “Space for Dummies” and reading glasses. They were 2 years into their estrangement and Joel was still not losing hope that someday she`d come round, that they’d get a chance to repair what was broken in their relationship and just hang out again. And then he would impress her with all his fun space facts? You know? He never lost hope…
Tumblr media
And just to round this trip up let’s get outside for a sec and see the backyard. I think the vegetable garden is a nice detail since Joel cooks and fresh produce right form his own backyard would come in handy! And of course the back porch, the one for playing guitar and having heart to heart with you daughter.
Tumblr media
Also I need to include this, because fishing. Ever since I read "Catch and Release" by SentientMassTransit (I can’t recommend it enough, go read all of Ellis`s stories they are brilliant!) I have fishing brainrot and just looking at this thing makes me so happy, just imagine Joel and Ellie going fishing! They are so so lucky, they have all the time in the world to chill and be happy, right? Right?
Anyways, I love this house and how it tells you a whole story about Joel and his journey. Because this is a house of a person who cares about themselves and their space, a person who knows how to live, how to enjoy fine alcohol and a fine meal, how to throw a party, how to make art, how to listen to music, how to create, express and enjoy.
Compare it to his apartment in Boston:
Tumblr media
How dark, empty and desolate it was. I know it`s not really fair, since a lot of things that are possible in Jackson would never, could never happen in any QZ, but I still think that those two places represent Joel a lot. And they tell you a story about his growth, his change and his healing. A difference between those two spaces is a difference between a man surviving and a man living a full life.
It wasn’t time that did it, it was his relationship with Ellie that set in motion this whole process. And it was crucial, but it was just a beginning for him. Everything that followed was his decision and it required a lot of hard work. He rebuild his relationship with Tommy, he had a meaningful role in the community and he made friends! And after his falling out with Ellie it would`ve been incredibly easy for him to go back to his old patterns, but he fought against it, held onto life, art and people. He chose every day to live, to take care of himself and his house and he had enough passion for life to turn it into art! It shows how much he`s healed, how much he`s grown and how far he has come.
Tumblr media
In this house we belive TLOU2 ended here actually, he went on fishing, playing guitar, making art, spending a lot of time with his daughter and even becoming a grandpa! He`s very happy, thanks for asking!

9. Get Crafty with Cards:
Don't underestimate the power of a handmade card! Dollar Tree's greeting card aisle is a treasure trove of blank cards, colorful tissue paper, stickers, and embellishments. Let the creativity flow: create unique pop-up designs, use glitter and glue to add sparkle, or write heartfelt messages inside. A personalized card shows you put thought and effort into the gift, and it's a keepsake that can be cherished long after the holidays are over.
10. Stocking Stuffers Galore:
No holiday season is complete without the joy of overflowing stockings! Dollar Tree Compass is a stocking stuffer paradise, with options for everyone. Grab festive candy canes and chocolates, tiny trinkets and toys, fun socks and hair accessories. For the tech-savvy, consider mini phone chargers or earbuds. For the bookworms, bookmarks and small notebooks are perfect. Don't forget the practical picks: hand warmers, lip balm, even mini first-aid kits. Mix and match with creativity, and let the stockings overflow with holiday cheer, all for a fraction of the cost.
Remember, the true magic of Dollar Tree gifts lies in the thoughtfulness and personalization. Take the time to choose items that your loved ones will truly appreciate, and don't be afraid to get creative. Add a handwritten note, wrap it in festive paper (Dollar Tree has that too!), and watch your budget-friendly gifts spark joy and laughter this holiday season. So, spread the cheer, embrace the magic of the $1, and let Dollar Tree help you weave unforgettable holiday memories, one treasure at a time.
Bonus Tip: Get the whole family involved! Make Dollar Tree shopping a treasure hunt, have kids pick out gifts for their friends and teachers, and let everyone's creativity run wild. Who knows, you might just discover some hidden talents and create holiday memories that will last a lifetime.
Happy gifting, and happy holidays!

If you’re anything like me, you don’t like to waste. When you enjoy herbal preparations as part of your daily routine, you are bound to wind up with a stockpile of perfectly good containers that can still be used. But how can you make sure they are cleaned well enough to reuse, and how can you continue to put them to use time and time again? Here are some tips and tricks to help you keep those bottles in circulation.
How to Clean and Reuse Glass Bottles and Metal Containers
The following method is primarily used to clean:
Glass bottles with a dropper top (tincture bottles)
Glass bottles with a mister top
Glass bottles with a screw on cap
Glass bottles with a treatment pump
Essential oil bottles with reducer top
Roll-on bottles
Cork top bottles
Metal tins
PREPARE YOUR CONTAINERS
We all know about the importance of labeling homemade remedies and ingredients, so when reusing bottles, you’ll want to be sure to take the old labels off to eliminate any confusion.
Peel the label off by hand, if possible. If it doesn’t come off as one or two pieces, you’ll want to soak the bottle in warm water to loosen them up.
Begin by rinsing each bottle out and then filling it with warm water and placing the lid back on. PRO TIP: Soaking the bottles with the lids on will prevent bits of paper and glue remnants from making their way into the bottle. Filling them with water will prevent them from bobbing around.
Place them into a pot filled with warm water and let sit for about five minutes. Some may take longer than others.
Rub your thumb and/or fingernail on the label and it will begin to roll off.
If there is some glue left over, no need to re-soak—we have another life hack to share for that! This one from DIY Natural works brilliantly and calls for simple ingredients: baking soda, coconut oil, and sweet orange essential oil (though I also like lemon oil for this purpose!).

The Art of Choosing the Perfect Return Gift for Every Occasion
Choosing the right return gift can transform a simple gesture into a memorable experience. Whether it’s for a birthday party, wedding, or corporate event, return gifts leave a lasting impression on your guests. They express gratitude and create an emotional connection that goes beyond the occasion itself. With so many options out there, how do you find the perfect one? Fear not! This guide will walk you through budget-friendly ideas, ways to personalize your gifts, and essential tips to make sure every guest walks away with something special. Let’s dive in!
Budget-Friendly Options for Return Gifts
Finding budget-friendly return gifts doesn’t mean sacrificing quality. There are plenty of charming options that won’t break the bank. Consider edible treats like homemade cookies or artisanal chocolates, beautifully packaged and sure to delight. Handmade crafts can also make lovely gifts. Think about personalized bookmarks or coasters, which add a unique touch while being economical. DIY projects not only save money but allow you to showcase your creativity. Another great option is potted plants or succulents. They’re affordable, easy to care for, and serve as lasting reminders of your event. Guests will appreciate the thoughtfulness behind each green gift. Stationery sets with cute designs are practical and useful too! Everyone loves a stylish notebook or set of pens they can use in their daily lives. Choosing these thoughtful yet budget-friendly return gifts ensures everyone leaves with something memorable without straining your finances.
Personalizing Your Return Gifts
Personalizing return gifts adds a special touch that makes them memorable. When guests receive something unique, it shows thoughtfulness and appreciation. Consider monogramming items like towels or notebooks. A simple name can transform an ordinary gift into something cherished. Custom labels on jars of homemade treats also create a personal connection. It’s not just a gift; it's a piece of your culinary effort. For events with children, personalized storybooks are enchanting. Kids love seeing their names woven into tales, making the experience unforgettable. Crafting thank-you notes to accompany gifts adds another layer of personalization. Handwritten messages resonate more than generic cards ever could. Incorporating favorite colors or themes from the occasion can also elevate any return gift. Tailoring each detail ensures your gesture is both thoughtful and engaging for the recipient.
Tips for Choosing the Perfect Return Gift
Choosing the perfect return gift can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. Start by considering your guests. Think about their preferences and interests. This will help you select gifts that resonate with them. Next, consider the occasion. The type of event often influences what makes an appropriate return gift. For instance, a birthday celebration might call for fun or whimsical items, while a formal wedding may warrant something more sophisticated. Don't forget to keep practicality in mind. Gifts that are useful tend to leave a lasting impression. Items like personalized stationery or kitchen gadgets can be both thoughtful and functional. Think about presentation. A beautifully wrapped gift adds an extra touch of thoughtfulness that recipients appreciate. Selecting return gifts is not just about giving something back; it's about showing appreciation and making memories last longer than the event itself. Whether you're on a budget or splurging a bit more for someone special, there's always a way to find the right fit for every occasion.

DIY: Sparkling Rose Gummy Bears
Tumblr media
There is something so playful and nostalgic about gummy bears, one of the most classic candies out there. They're obviously a hit with kids, but why do they get to have all the fun? With ingredients like sparkling rosé and gelatin, you can make "grown-up" gummy bears in the comfort of your own kitchen. It even doubles as a sweet gift for Valentine's Day, anniversaries, or birthdays. This particular recipe yields 50 gummy bears, but you can easily multiply the ingredients to make enough for several people. (Well, if you don't eat them all first!)
Tumblr media
DIY: Sparkling Rose Gummy Bears
Things You'll Need
1/2 cup sparkling rosé
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons gelatin
Pink or red food coloring or 1/2 teaspoon rose grenadine syrup
2 gummy bear molds (yields 50 gummy bears)
Dropper
Tip
You can purchase silicone gummy bear molds on Amazon. If possible, buy a set that comes with a plastic dropper. Consider purchasing several molds if you need to make a large batch of gummy bears.
Tumblr media
Tip
Before starting, measure the gelatin and sugar, and set aside. You'll need to continuously stir the mixture, but taking a moment to pre-measure will save time and eliminate the need for pausing.
Meanwhile, store the molds in the freezer until you're ready to fill them up.
Step 1
Pour the rosé in a small saucepan and warm over low heat. Do not let it boil.
Add the sugar and gelatin. Gently whisk until both ingredients dissolve.
Step 2
Continue whisking for 3 minutes. Avoid vigorous stirring, as this can make the liquid frothy and bubbly. Gentle whisking is essential for clear, translucent gummy bears.
Step 3
Depending on your desired shade, add 1/2 teaspoon rose grenadine syrup, 1 drop red food coloring, or 1 to 3 drops pink food coloring. Mix well.
Tumblr media
Step 4
Using the dropper, carefully pipe the warm rosé mixture into the chilled gummy bear molds.
Step 5
Continue until the entire mold is filled. If the liquid begins to set, place the saucepan over very low heat.
Step 6
Place the molds in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. Serve chilled, and store any leftover gummy bears in the refrigerator.
Tip
By the time you fill up the molds, the gelatin will create a sticky film in your saucepan. To clean it up, add a splash of boiling water and carefully wipe down with a paper towel. Repeat as necessary, and consider wearing rubber gloves to protect your fingers from the hot water.
To clean the dropper, prepare 1/4 cup of boiling water. Use the dropper to suck up some of the water, then release into the same cup. Repeat until the dropper completely clears up. Let the water cool, then strain or scoop out any gelatin pieces before tossing.
For an extra dose of sparkle, toss the gummy bears in white sugar just before eating.
Tumblr media
GIFT IDEA
To gift your homemade gummy bears, place them in a small mason jar or cellophane bag. Tie it off with a strand of printed ribbon, colorful twine, or yarn. Add a label reminding the lucky recipient to store leftover gummy bears in the refrigerator.

DIY Candle Making: A Guide to Creating Luxurious Scents with Your Candle Making Kit
Candle making is a fantastic way to personalize your home and create unique gifts for friends and family. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced crafter, having the right candle making kit and candle making supplies is key to success. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the essential tools and materials you need, as well as explore luxurious fragrance options like Coco Mademoiselle and Baccarat Rouge, along with creative projects using resin and epoxy resin.
Why Choose a Candle Making Kit?
A candle making kit is the easiest way to dive into the craft. These kits come with everything you need to create beautiful, fragrant candles, including wax, wicks, fragrance oils, and molds. They are perfect for beginners or those who want a quick and easy setup to get started. Kits from reliable providers like Pure Candle Supplies ensure that you are working with high-quality materials, which leads to better results.
Some essential components in a good kit include:
Wax: Soy wax or beeswax is ideal for creating clean-burning candles.
Wicks: Cotton wicks are the most common and are easy to use.
Fragrance Oils: High-quality oils like Coco Mademoiselle and Baccarat Rouge elevate your candles with luxurious scents.
Containers or Molds: You can get creative with jar candles, pillar candles, or custom molds.
Must-Have Candle Making Supplies
Aside from a basic kit, you'll want to have extra candle-making supplies on hand to customize your creations:
Fragrance Oils: Essential for giving your candles a unique aroma. Popular luxury scents include Coco Mademoiselle with its floral and citrus notes, and Baccarat Rouge, known for its rich, amber-like fragrance.
Colorants: Add a personal touch by incorporating dyes or natural colorants into your wax.
Thermometers: Wax temperature is critical to avoid burning the fragrance or discoloring the candle.
Wick Holders: Keep your wicks centered during the candle-making process.
Labels and Packaging: If you plan to give your candles as gifts or sell them, beautiful labels and packaging can add a professional finish.
Using Luxurious Scents in Your Candles
Fragrance is what transforms an ordinary candle into something exceptional. High-end fragrance oils such as Coco Mademoiselle and Baccarat Rouge can make your DIY candles stand out. Here’s why you might want to incorporate these scents:
Coco Mademoiselle: A sophisticated blend of orange, jasmine, and patchouli, perfect for adding an air of elegance to your home.
Baccarat Rouge: A luxurious mix of saffron, cedarwood, and ambergris that provides a rich, warm, and inviting scent.
These premium fragrance oils can turn simple candles into an opulent addition to your home decor or an exquisite gift.
Expand Your Craft: Making Car Diffusers
Why limit yourself to candles? You can expand your DIY fragrance projects by creating a car diffuser. A car diffuser works by using the same high-quality fragrance oils found in candles, like Coco Mademoiselle and Baccarat Rouge, but in a format designed for small, enclosed spaces.
A typical car diffuser consists of a small bottle of fragrance oil and a wooden cap. The cap absorbs the oil and diffuses the scent slowly, keeping your car smelling fresh for weeks. They're easy to make and are a great addition to your product lineup or personal DIY collection.
Creative Additions with Resin and Epoxy Resin
Another fun way to elevate your candle-making projects is by incorporating resin or epoxy resin into your designs. You can use epoxy resin to create decorative elements like custom lids, embedded designs in candle holders, or even make beautiful resin coasters to complement your candles.
Resin can be mixed with glitter, dried flowers, or other embellishments to create a one-of-a-kind look.
Epoxy resin is particularly versatile for creating a smooth, glass-like finish on your candle containers, adding a professional and luxurious touch to your creations.
Working with epoxy requires care and precision, but the results are stunning. Ensure you work in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gloves when handling epoxy resin.
Candle Making Tips for Success
Use High-Quality Supplies: The best candles come from using the best candle making supplies. Opt for reputable brands like Pure Candle Supplies.
Mind Your Fragrance Ratios: Too much fragrance oil can overpower the candle or cause it to burn improperly. Start with the recommended amount and adjust as needed.
Pay Attention to Temperature: Wax should be melted and poured at the right temperature to ensure smooth candles and proper fragrance distribution.
Experiment with Scents and Colors: Don't be afraid to mix fragrances like Coco Mademoiselle with other floral or citrus scents, or try layering different colors in your candles.
Conclusion
Candle-making is a delightful and fulfilling craft that allows you to express your creativity while filling your home with luxurious scents. With the right candle-making kit and high-quality candle-making supplies from Pure Candle Supplies, you can create beautiful, fragrant candles using premium fragrances like Coco Mademoiselle and Baccarat Rouge. Don’t forget to explore new projects like car diffusers and adding decorative elements with resin and epoxy resin. The possibilities are endless, and you’ll enjoy every step of the process!
