Heroes & Villains The DC Animated Universe - Paper Cut-Out Portraits and Profiles
Jax-Ur
A celebrated general from the plane Krypton, Jax-Ur believed that the planet should be led by the strong. He staged a coup d’etat and attempted to seize control of Krypton. The general was defeated by Jor-El and for his crimes he was sentenced to life imprisonment in the Phantom Zone. Jax-Ur's lieutenant and co-conspirator, Mala, was also sentenced to the Phantom Zone for a term of twenty years.
Following the destruction of Krypton, Superman discovered the Phantom Zone projector stored aboard the spacecraft used to send him to earth. Inspecting the device, Superman found that Mala had been imprisoned therein for longer than her original sentence. As such he chose to release her.
Empowered by earth’s yellow sun, Mala believed that she and Superman should embrace their superiority and rule over the humans. Superman refused this idea and a scorned Mala stole the Phantom Projector, using it to release General Jax-Ur. Together, the two Kryptonians attempted to destroy Superman and take over Earth... yet Superman lured them both into a trap and sent them back to the Phantom Zone.
Jax-Ur would return several years later, having escaped the Phantom Zone by way of a rogue black hole. He and Mala took over an alien world, ruling it as despots. When Superman learned of this development, he traveled to this world to once more face off against the two adversaries. The ensuing battle resulted in both Jax-Ur and Mala being caught in the gravitational pull of the black hole. They were sucked in never to be heard from again.
The great Ron Perlman provided the voice for Jax-Ur, with he villainous general first appearing in the first episode of the second season of Superman: The Animated Series, ‘Blasts From The Past.’

Superman and some of the inhabitants of the Phantom Zone, by Gray Frank.
I don't know why mermaid (and former Superman love interest) Lori Lemurs is in the Zone. Did I miss a story somewhere?

Look how happy everyone looks, it's so cool to be a Superman villain!
Brainiac's little thumbs up in front of his stolen city, Luthor's pride of being Superman's villain since their childhood, the Puzzler's 12 piece puzzle spelling crime... I love it
