As a result of Lian Songs queries Dong Hua asks Feng Jui the reason she wants to obtain the Saha fruit.

Instead of telling the truth and omitting certain details about her time spent in the mortal world Feng Jui just outright lies.🤦🏻‍♀️

He thinks she wants to make Saha cakes for Yan Chiwu, jealous jealous jealous.

Feng Jui isn’t sure about the reasoning behind the question.

Love and Redemption, eps 31-40 (painful thoughts lol)

I love these posters, they’re beautiful. 

Well, I officially hate everyone who likes to claim they're such good guys. Because in this drama, chances are, if you have to say it over and over again or you have justify yourself in the name of the greater good, you're actually full of shit. I feel like an overdramatic after watching these last ten eps, because before I clearly didn't know how much more bad things could get and I still haven't seen the worst, but I made such a fuss and now I can't even be angry lol I'm just so worn out, so tired and want my happy ending now. Yep, this is totally a fun drama to watch!

Anyway, no matter how bad things ended after these ten eps, I feel like this has been the most rock solid the relationship between the OTP has been. And with such good moments, and I don’t mean hot and heavy makeouts, I’m talking about trust and loyalty. I just wish Sifeng would’ve told Xuanji the truth about him being a golden bird demon, that way she would’ve never doubted him or be in pain because of it. And it was so heartbreaking to see that moment. All went to hell, people were dying and fighting, their parents (in retrospective it was obvious that the sect leader from Lize was Sifeng’s father but wtf who puts a lover’s curse on their own child? especially if you have been through it?) telling them the other never cared for her/him and they were just there, in the middle of the battle with tears in their eyes. So saaaaaad.

I loved that Dijun heard this bit! Of course that only makes him angrier and super jealous, but I love to see it gets to him, it’s a little win.

It was obvious the drama was going to go the “his father killed her mother therefore they cannot be together” route *facepalm* Of course! Because the world and the 3 realms are against them! His father didn’t really do it, as we found out later but that was enough to shock Xuanji for a good while. She still trusted him, but she was wary because Sifeng lied to her. I get it, but at the same time, Xuajin dear, can’t you see this is exactly what he feared? There was a reason he didn’t tell you.

I feel like I’m a step closer to finding out how Sifeng and Xuanji came to know each other when she was still a God and why he followed her to the mortal realm and had to get through 9 lifetimes together. Didn’t fanfic writer from heaven told Tengshe that, when Dijun married another woman (and btw isn’t he still married? the heck?), God of War went away and her only company were some golden birds? Am I reading too much into it? But, isn’t that weird? That was after the big war with the demon realm, where she defeated the Star of Mosha... so is Sifeng really him? I’m super confused.

HAHAHAHAHAHA The audacity from this man knows no limits. I couldn't believe he dared to say something to Tengshe when he has been sticking his nose into Xuanji's mortal life for years! I HATE HIM more than the bad guys. To me, he’s the number one enemy and I fear my hate for him will only grow more. I want to see him fall, real bad and real hard, from glory. I want him to suffer and to be punished. I don't care by whom or by what (but can I suggest OTP for the job?) I just need for him to end on a really really bad note. 

Also, I love Tenshe. That episode where he met OTP, was gold, from beginning to end. I laughed so hard and I’m documenting here that it was ep 32, so that I can always go back and watch it when the story gets too angsty or sad. It was amazing and it had so much smiling/amused Sifeng, what else can you ask for? Also, Tengshe became a powerful ally and moved forward the plot: he helped rescue Linglong (more on that later), he told OTP what he knew abut God of War/Dijun “love” story, which left Sifeng thinking (and I’m sure will come into play later), he had the softest interaction with Linglong when everybody else refused to tell her where was Minyan. And he protected Xuanji so many times, despite saying he wouldn’t do it. He’s the best, he loves food and notices important things when there’s drama.

Demon fox and Merman doctor continue to rank high on my list of favorite characters as well. It’s the mortals from the “good” sects the ones I’m having issues with. And Xuanji’s father. For a moment, when he gave his blessing to OTP I thought I could forgive him for torturing Sifeng, but not anymore.

My sweet badass Linglong finally got rescued, but after 15 eps of being kidnapped, the weird thing would’ve been that she returned as if nothing had happened. I felt bad for the flower demon that helped Minyan and traitor friend from Lize, because she thought creepy bad guy actually had feelings for her and in the end, she got killed. It was terrible that Linglong remembered everything that happened when she was captive, but of course, this drama doesn’t spare anyone. I thought she wouldn’t! My poor girl was so traumatized, felt so guilty and was so depressed that she tried to kill herself but thank God Minyan stopped her. Oh, Minyan, okay, okay, I apologize to you, I misjudged you. You’re not a favorite yet but I like you and I’m so glad my Linglong has someone like you by her side. Just give Sifeng a chance (I’m not asking that of Linglong bc my girl has been through enough, I understand her).

Now, the biggest problem. I have raised my eyebrows so high at all the people from the sects they almost reached my hairline bc, from what I've seen, Xuanji is way more unhinged and dangerous when she is in God mode than my dear Sifeng, a demon, has ever been (till now I've never seen him with as much more than an distant and cold attitude let alone really angry), he is always in control of his emotions and a big part of that is thanks to the fact that he keeps his mind clear and is able think with reason and logic something everybody from the sects lacks. So why are all so angry and scared of Sifeng when they should be fearing Xuanji?

I'm not saying "lock her in the dungeons without food" they did it with Sifeng though but maybe like, I don't know, get some magical therapy to see through her head, advise her to meditate or something. As much as I love that girl, she's a ticking bomb and I've seen her about to kill her friends and the people she loves a few times now, because she doesn't recognize them in that state and Dijun loves to delulu himself into thinking he knows what’s best for her ugh. Why does no one find that scarier than a bunch of demons who disguised themselves through centuries just to avoid being killed and have been lying on the low trying to keep peace with the other sects? Oh, I know, because you're all a bunch of prejudiced racists assholes.

Tbh I kinda want Sifeng to go bad. I don’t think he has it him but I’m just so tired of him always being so good... what for? Rise, demon Sifeng! Be angry!

Every time I see Dijun, I feel the urge to throttle him through my screen. Stop pushing the poor woman, freak! Look what she’s been guilted into.

He is so petty and jealous and bitter - even if Sifeng was evil, she loved him, it’s hard for her, but does he show any understanding and grace? No, because amoebas are incapable of either. And she asks - she asks. Just for a little time. But of course no. My way or the highway is too mild to describe this waste of space.

She has one chance because she has failed her previous love trials by doing precisely what you are urging her to do right now - give in to the darker side of her nature and kill the man who loves her unconditionally. Which you would know if you actually read the records available or even thought about the fact that her trial is a freaking love tribulation so it’s right there in the title. But nah, doing that would interfere with what you want so I am sure you never bothered on purpose.

Hopefully once she loses her last chance, Sifeng is free from this mess too and can wake up back in heaven or demon dimension or devil city or wherever the hell he’s from and hopefully then take the unfeeling pill and get serious therapy and spa treatment. (Unless if she falls it means he can’t come back either.) And she realizes what happens and stabs Dijun through his face. (I am LIVING for the moment she finds out what is actually going on with Sifeng and with Dijun.)

DongFeng Headcanons

Headcanons coming to you from @m-mimima and @lovesasusaku12 . Because we love the DongFeng couple and need more than what the show gave us. Though we were blessed with a lot.  

Both Dong Hua and Fj are super thirsty for each other and some of the women try to shift into FJ. Dong Hua catches on pretty quickly and questions them about all the things they did/do. He usually is still pretty ice face unless FJ is around and then all of his attention is on her. Everyone is confused af about this powerful, stoic god who is putty in FJ’s hands. 

Fj likes to hang out with new immortal General Ye, but she always makes sure that DH is around and flatters him a bit more than usual. Dh likes Ye, just not around his wife. 

Fj becomes more mature, but she is still FJ through and through. She still loves to play pranks and is super flustered when DH calls her Fu Ren. 

If anyone tries to bully Fj or say anything about DH or her family, she reminds them who her husband is. She is pretty powerful on her own, but there are some people that don’t listen to her. DH always shows up and silently supports her. 

After the ending of pillow book, DH and Fj finally get married. Dh personally issues a statement saying that he will destroy anyone that dares to stop or interrupt the ceremony. Needless to say, the ceremony goes well and they are finally together “officially”. 

DH being a baby and calling FJ back for slight injuries. She doesn’t really mind and loves to be around him. 

Zhi He dies when she comes back for visits and sees Dh and FJ together and tries to get in between them, but Dh stops her and is like why are you coming in between me and Fu Ren. FJ always gets flustered when Dh calls her Fu Ren. DF love to sit together at banquets and she serves him food and he ignores everyone but her and likes to tuck flowers in her hair. Fj gets sad thinking about Aranya, but DH reminds Fj that the failed fate brought them together. 

DH and Fj have three kids, two boys and a girl. DH slightly favors his little girl because she is basically a mini FJ. Fj and baby girl usually fight over who gets to sit in DH’s lap (in fox form). 

Dh is forever sad at missing Fj’s pregnancy with gun gun. So he keeps FJ close during her subsequent ones and is a super attentive husband. He likes to burns summons from the heavenly king for meetings, so FJ just goes with him. But he pays more attention to her and stops meetings to get something that FJ wants, and guilt trips fj with him missing Gun gun’s time. He hugs gun gun a little bit tighter and dotes on him too. 

The third pregnancy (baby girl) is the hardest on FJ. At night, she likes to grab DH’s hand and tells him to tell his restless child to stop and let her rest. He replies with “this one takes after their mother in being restless” but dies happily on the inside. 

Dongfeng babies are usually well behaved and the entire Bai family is astounded. But since they are the kids of two trolls,they love to pull pranks and never get caught. DH loves to join in the pranks. 

The babies join Dh in the meetings. He loves wearing the baby in slings and curl up against him when they are older.  If anyone gets too rowdy, then he points to the baby sling and tells them to settle down and not wake his kids. 

DH loving his family and having family dinners even after the kids grow up. He loves having his family surrounding him because he has been alone for way too long. He also makes sure that all of his family is protected. He doesn’t hover, but makes sure that they are okay. 

Dijun loves to spoil his daughter and carries her everywhere either in his arms or sitting on his shoulders. He teaches his daughter how to play Go and she eventually beats LS (as a small baby). Dh tells her to call LS “nephew” because he lost. Zhong Lin comes to tell him that FJ is calling the baby and DH is like *___*, I’ll take her. 

FJ uses her babies to get out of trouble. They usually just show up and say “Grandpa” and BOOM, forgiven. #noshame 

The DF babies are both mentally and emotionally smart. They are well behaved, but very naughty. They and BQ’s kids cause so much mischief. They love to prank Si Ming, who just accepts his fate. 

Everyone likes to cling onto FJ and she is all “I love you all, but i have stuff to do. When did i become the responsible one?” =_=“.

The sky kingdom is a lively place due to all the little ones (Df, BQ, and LS and Cheng yu’s kids). The girls have tea parties at Tai Chen Palace and FJ makes them pastries and DH provides the tea and hangs out for a bit with them. 

Zhi He dies every time she comes to visit and sees the df babies. She knows that she can’t do anything to them bc Dijun will not stand for it. Whenever Zhi he tries to pull anything, the babies call her Grumpy Old aunty instead of just aunt. She also dies seeing the (df) baby girl looking a lot like a mini fj. 

Xiao Yan joining the babysitting squad (He is always supervised with the kids). Dh’s baby girl develops a baby crush on Yan yan and Dh loses his mind and tells her no she doesn’t like him like that. Dh stays a little jealous of Xiao Yan and FJ is ???. 

DF’s daughter grows up to be a beauty (after her mother) and Dh threatens any suitors with his sword (he’s not subtle about it). LS uses his friendship with Dh to threaten away his daughter’s suitors.

Acknowledge Donghua Is Kinda A Problematic Fav

        As a person, Donghua Dijun is problematic. And that isn’t acknowledged very much if at all most of the time (this goes with Dongfeng, the problematic elements are ignored in favor of cuteness and romance) - he has reason behind given traits, but he’s not the romantic hero the show paints him out to be. He’s a definite damaged hero trope and emotionally distant, which plays into how the girls placed into his care end up being not in the best environment for them and turn out as they do (neither admin is a huge fan of Zhihe or Ji Heng, however please understand and refrain from name calling either). 

          Just as the two girls were left in his care with no one essentially and needed someone, he too needs someone. And as he came from the universe, as he was raised by Zhihe’s parents, the best relationship he likely had during his younger years was that with Father God and even that is probably a complicated thing. He doesn’t know how to care even if he wanted to for either his foster sister who has been in his care since she was very young, as he promised her parents before they died to take care of her, as well as ordeal with Ji Heng. 

          And not many people notice or genuinely care about him, as he says people are always wanting something of him, Lian Song is one of the very few people that do care. His particular brand of caring is what classifies him as a best friend. Because he does what he can to watch out for Donghua and help him grow. Even if he tends to ignore the advice. 

          This can be seen with his relationship with Feng Jiu. When he’s falling for her, he ends up in this cycle of overestimating her or underestimating her. Before they’re together, Donghua acknowledges she wants to do things herself without relying on him, but once they are together coddles her, protects her from things she should know. Because he’s reverting back to what he knows, which is how their relationship easily leans to the unhealthy territory. Because whether you watch the drama or have read the novel, he either lies to her, keeps her in the dark of all the bad things happening, or literally messes with her memory, hence why she leaves when pregnant with Gun Gun. 

           Because he thinks that he is doing what he thinks is best for Feng Jiu, when it’s not. Even Lian Song tells him to be honest with her, but as that isn’t what Donghua knows to work, he ignores it. 

           It’s not to say he doesn’t love Feng Jiu, he very much does, however she is also very young and naive. She has insecurities that are never discussed, they don’t communicate as they should, she doesn’t know why the right things she does are right. She is the right person for him, and can provide him with what he needs, but would be better capable to do so if she weren’t a 15 year old girl. 

           The beauty of their story isn’t all the cute and romantic moments between these two, they’re a nice bonus, but it’s the knowledge they are compatible and able to grow from the jealous, petty, hurt, or naive places they come from. They definitely need guidance along the way from those around them, which is why both Admin Ro and I are huge stans of Donghua having more found family, not just Feng Jiu and Gun Gun and the Bai family (which some are still probably weary of the former emperor being related to them). He needs more family.

Eternal Love of Dream: Episodes 2 & 3

Back to the commentary/review or what I like to call it, utter nonsense. 

A couple of handy things to know: 

1. You DO NOT need to have seen Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (Eternal Love) to watch this. 2. If you have seen Eternal Love, ignore what happens between these two. (They weren’t able to gain copyright access to this novel for Eternal Love, so their storyline was made up and put in as a filler) 3. This is based on a novel, you don’t need to read the novel but it is a great read if you’re interested. 4. I may refer to this as The Pillow Book or TPB. 5. Lastly, there will be some comparisons and I will relate to the novel at times.

And of course, spoilers ahead!

Episode Two

Opening credits. Skip.

Si Ming can’t catch a break... 

Why does this feel painful? Donghua won’t acknowledge her for another 30,000 years (give or take) I’d say the book is more painful in this respect though *They never met while Fengjiu worked at Tai Chen Palace, Zhi He always prevented them from meeting each other* while the show is giving us crumbs, I’ll gladly take those crumbs. Many viewers would probably become fed up of them not meeting each other until like episode 30. It reminds me of the 2003 film ‘Turn Left, Turn Right’ they were always so close yet so far apart. 

Hahahahaha. Si Ming.

Donghua’s seriously not going to question why he suddenly has a red brush??? I mean it stands out... lol

I find this image pleasing... don’t know why. Maybe because Donghua’s about to do something... 

I imagined someone younger to play Jiheng... oh well. 

She’s like ‘oh sh*t I fcked up’ hahaha. But still... Pushing Fengjiu into the pond was a little too harsh. 

Not gonna lie, I don’t see why Zhi He did the most to try and keep them apart. At this point, I don’t even think Donghua would have even acknowledged Fengjiu because she was a palace maid. Donghua hasn’t taken any interest in the palace maids before (that we know of) or anyone... Why was Zhi He so jealous? Donghua wasn’t taking any interest in her tbh. 

Damn it! It was just a dream. 

Donghua has too much fun ruining Si Ming and Lian Song’s lives. I just have to laugh along...

Episode Three

She’s really smitten with him, isn’t she? Same girl... same. Fengjiu out here representing the unrequited love nation currently. 

She really trying to take the credit from Fengjiu???? NOT. ON. MY. WATCH. We rise at dawn. 

Lmao. Si Ming can’t catch a break again... I’m going to start a counter for this.

Girl, you’ve got to stop counting up these debts. Donghua doesn’t even know he saved you or even in the palace as a maid *sigh*. She’s sweet though for trying to repay Donghua. 

BOW DOWN TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE FENGJIU DONGHUA SHIP. (Despite not being in the novel, I believe the author is working on a novel for Lian Song and Cheng Yu.) I already love this character, I’m curious to see her storyline unfold.  

Has it really been that long? We’re only on episode 3. 

*sigh* another unrequited love except this one truly does remain one *in the book* The show might change all of this. Speaking of the novel, Ji Heng never had feelings for Yan Chiwu...

THIS WHOLE SCENE *CHEF’S KISS* THE WAY DONGHUA LITERALLY SOFTLY SMILES JUST A FEW SECONDS BEFORE HE GOES CLOSER TO FENGJIU’S FACE. 

Talk about being starved of fluff. I AM DEPRIVED OF IT.

I truly love the facial expressions here and the whole way this bit of the episode was played out. I was laughing the whole time. The casting for Yan Chiwu is on point.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 13

The episode just started, like... it has not been more than a minute and I am already heartbroken. Fengjiu becomes a girl all over again and... YOU SHOULD SEE THE FACE OF THAT POOR QINGTI. I am so sad. Poor little baby. He was doubting his feelings for Xiaojiu and now he realizes she’s a woman. And if she decided to reveal herself, than probably she has feelings for Xuanren, aka his best friend, sworn brother and master. That is just sooooo cruel.

Arrrgh. That Xuanren annoys me so much. And poor Qingti in the back. I hope she won’t keep on falling in love with Xuanren as he is somewhat Dijun and actually will notice how Qingti is better for her. And that they will die together for betraying his majesty. At least, I would be satisfied, even though I absolutely don’t want Qingti to die. He’s my favorite TT

Fengjiu get to chose a maid to take her of her and she choses one that has a butterfly mark on her neck. Seems she’s the reincarnation of that butterfly she liked back at the palace. While talking with her, Fengjiu realizes she might have to sleep with Xuanren hahaha. It’s okay, Qing qiu people aren’t so strict about that. But I believe Fengjiu never spent the night with any guy, so she must be startled.

Naturally, when she comes back from her bath, Xuanren is there waiting for her. Ayo. Poor lady. Oh god. They are sitting on the bed and Fengjiu is just so uncomfortable and Xuanren keeps on touching her. And he’s... why so unoriginal? “the more I look at you, the more I think you’re beautiful” Please. We know you think she’s gorgeous, you saw her like three second and decided that you were in love with her. And he’s just... so confident that she likes him back. Well she kind of does, but... dude, you’re the king, she doesn’t really have a choice. She then starts coughing and says she’s worried she would transmit the disease to him and he seems so disappointed that he has to leave now.

Then she explains why she loves sweet potatoes more than anything else, as it was someone who baked it for her once and he gets all jealous and unhappy. Well, that person is you, but also not you, but you, so don’t be too unhappy.

Ji Heng tricks Xuanren into giving her attention by making him think of his deceased mother. Then, on her way to see the empress dowager, she bumps into Xuanren’s big brother who intercepted her letter to Nie Chuyin. He threatens her a little bit, but that’s about it.

Then as he promised, Xuanren goes to keep company to consort Chuwan for her mother’s death anniversary, but he doesn’t really look like he wants to be there and not long after, there are news that Xiaojiu fainted so he rushes to her. Sorry Ji Heng, you won’t have the opportunity to keep his majesty’s company. He’s not interested at all into you.

An episode rather slow, not a lot of action, just Fengjiu being a consort and a little sick. Absolutely not enough of Ye Qingti. I hope we will see him later. And that Fengjiu elopes with him. And then kills herself when Xuanren catches them because he killed Ye Qingti. That would be enough of a love trial for Donghua and I would be satisfied about my poor baby. I am not really into fanfics, the last time I ever wrote one I was probably thirteen year old (makes me feel so old now), but if I am too displeased with the development of that story, I might as well just do it and ease my heart on that matter. Anyone else wishing for Ye Qingti and Fengjiu to be together? Or am I just the crazy one because I love the guy so much? Actually, Fengjiu is probably no good for him. He deserves much better but the heart choses where it belongs and doesn’t listen to the brain...

In the matter of lying to the little fox, he's at least half an abettor. 

            Lian Song looked at the bed with anxiety, and again sighed deeply. The little fox was naïve and kind, and he didn't want to work against her, but if he didn't, then Dijun will work against him, and it will be heavy strike. To lie or not? - he'd choose to lie after all.

Exchange student

This is inspired by an episode from The Nanny where the female lead got her school rival to substitute her. Let’s just say with her around, the male lead didn’t even notice other girls. It also reminds me of a Kim Possible episode where Ron got to be an exchange student to a Japanese school, and a really hot exchange student drove Kim and Monique crazy. Warning, this draft has oblivious Adrien.

Meet Sandra Breeze

She was the exchange student from America, changing places with Marinette, who would be going to China to a monk school (aka Guardian training)

When boys look at Sandra, they immediately think, “Knockout!” When girls look Sandra, they feel a hit on their self-esteem and immediately look at their own images.

The thing was, Sandra was not conservative in her dressing either. She didn’t show too much skin though. She just liked to dress in a way to show off her assets. Like her model-long legs and tiny waist.

And wherever she walked in school, boys tended to follow her around as guides. It’s like she radiates pheromones.

This was irritating to Chloe and Lila, who hated any popular rival.

But unsurprisingly, she spent a lot of time with Adrien because she sat in Marinette’s old seat.

Alya definitely wasn’t receptive to the new girl and wanted to keep Nino away. That left Adrien alone.

So imagine Chloe’s irritation when she gives Adrien his daily hug, then Sandra comes by and gives Adrien a cheek kiss, because isn’t that how the French greet each other?

And Adrien actually reciprocated that cheek kiss!

Chloe’s face was red and steaming.

And then Adrien even brought Sandra to his photoshoot, mostly because he didn’t want to be alone with Lila.

When Adrien brought Sandra over, the photographer raved over how photogenic she looked. Adrien smiled good-naturedly.

“Maybe she could model for us since Lila’s a no-show?”

Lila interrupted, pissed, “Actually I’m right here.” How could Adrien not notice her presence? Was he that blinded by Miss Exchange Student? She’s foreign too!

Photographer: But they look so much better than Adrien and Lila. I’m sorry, Miss Rossi but you are like an octopus whenever i pair you with Adrien. With Miss Sandra, they are like kindred souls. You can wait for your solo shoot, Miss Rossi.

Lila looked to Nathalie in complaint but Nathalie shrugged. Gabriel never promised joint photo shoots, just exposure.

The real kicker came whenever Lila tried to spin some grand tale. No one wanted to listen to her. They all wanted to hear Sandra’s foreign life because she was only here for a semester, while Lila would be around much longer.

At least all the girls were on Lila’s side, even if all they did was moan about how they wished Marinette would come back.

Because Lila was just not participative in their girl bonding activities of planting trees or listening to band music (Luka had privately asked Juleka not to invite Lila again because her music was like wailing violins), she could never take Marinette’s place.

All these were minor irritations to Chloe and Lila, not enough to attract akumas.

So for a whole semester, while Marinette was maturing and gaining wisdom in monk school, Lila and Chloe were going crazy over how little attention they were receiving ever since the exchange student came by. Sandra was constantly around Adrien, which irritated all his admirers and Adrienette fans.

The end of semester could not come too soon.

Sandra bid everyone a friendly farewell and thanked Adrien personally for being such a good Friend.

Alya: Omg, Adrien is contagious.

When Marinette returned, all her friends welcomed her back with open arms.

Marinette: aw, did everyone miss me?

Adrien: very much so. 2 girls in particular.

Marinette turned, expecting to find Alya and Kagami.

Imagine her surprise to be given a fierce hug by lying Lila. “Don’t you ever leave me again!” she sobbed.

Then Marinette’s hand was grabbed in a firm grip by cruel Chloe. “Come on, Dupain-Cheng, the limo is waiting for us.”

Marinette, confused: Wait, I’m riding home with you?

Adrien was beaming, oblivious to the true reason behind their friendly welcoming and choosing to see the good in them. “They finally realized how much you mean to them only when you were gone. Absence makes the heart fonder after all.”

And his face took on a wistful look. Chloe and Lila believed it was for Sandra and tugged Marinette on faster, as if by restoring her to her bakery or classroom, the world as they knew it would return to normal.

Marinette had learned to let Adrien and Kagami be happy and focus on the joys of life.

Adrien was just hoping his Lady had finally come home. She had told him she would be late in coming to the rescue because she would be in China for a while. How coincidental that Marinette would be headed there too!

Chapter 7

Half way walking towards Ye Hua with A-Li tagging along, I suddenly halt my steps. Are you getting jealous that he’s having a private meeting with another woman, Bai Qian? I asked myself.

“Mother, why are your eyes red?”

Red? “Oh, it’s because of the dampness at this Crystal Palace that I’m not used to”

A-Li tugged my hand. “Mother, let’s quickly go find Father then”

“A-Li, I think it’s best not to disturb your Father. Let him settle the princess problem by himself”

A-Li got upset. “Mother, if you don’t go now, then Father will be stolen by that Princess Miao Qing!”

“Stolen?”

“Although she saved me once, but I have already properly thank her. But she now thought she would be different in Father’s eyes and wouldn’t want to leave Mount Junji. She foolishly stayed by Father. She’s really annoying” - A-Li complained.

“Stayed by your Father?”

“She knows that Father has a wife but she still came to bother Father. She came to lived in Mother’s hut and used Mother’s cookware. Now she want’s to steal Mother’s husband too!”

Oh, he’s talking about that 10 days in Mount Junji?

“Mother, you looked like you aren’t concerned at all!” - A-Li started to wail. “Is it because you already loved someone else and don’t want me and Father anymore?”

“Who said I don’t want you?”

“Excuses! Father will marry a stepmother and Mother will marry a stepfather! A-Li will have to lived up to my name! I don’t deserved to have a happy family! I will have to be alone! No one wants A-Li anymore!” - he started crying.

My heart shattered into pieces. I hugged him tight.

“All right, all right. Don’t cry ok? I did not say I don’t want you” - I tried to comfort him. “Everything will be alright. Don’t cry”

“But.. you don’t want Father. If you don’t want Father, then he will marry that Miao Qing. If he marries her, then they will have another baby and don’t want A-Li anymore..”

“Ah, you don’t cry anymore huh? I.. I.. since I’m your Mother, who said I don’t want your Father? Your father is my sweetheart, my darling, my precious honey” - I assured him.

Opps. What did I just say?

“Really?” - A-Li asked, happy.

“More real then real gold”. Oh well, since I started it, might as well just end it the same way. It’s between the both of us only anyways.

“Then come follow me, Mother”. Now it’s A-Li’s turn to drag me. Like Father like son.

We stopped a distance away. Ye Hua has his back to Princess Miao Qing without saying anything. The air feels so awkward that it feels weird.

“Mother, it’s time for you to make your appearance” - A-Li said.

“Erm.. let me think.. how I’m suppose to walk in”

I guess A-Li has his father’s traits of not taking excuses for an answer. He dragged me towards them.

“A-Li greets Father” - he bow. Ye Hua smiled at him like a proud father he is.

Somehow our eyes met. Without saying anything, I know that he’s glad I was there. It’s something both of us understands each other before.

“Little riceball” - I help him up.

Princess Miao Qing stared at us.

‘Jie jie (Elder sister), you are..” - she asked.

Time to play my part. Hey, it’s actually my original position. “This child address me as Mother” - I told her. Ye Hua gave a huge smile. I tried hard not to roll my eyes.

Miao Qing did not say anything. She just gave a look like she don’t believed that I’m A-Li’s mother.

Let’s be a little nasty. See if she gets it. “With this scene in front of me, I can’t help it but to compose a poem” - I took a sit.. like a boss.

“Don’t you agree, mei mei (little sister)?” - I asked her. Ye Hua kept smiling.

Miao Qing just kept her silence. Hmm.. this lady really don’t get it does she? No wonder even Little Riceball is annoyed with her.

“Among the vast sky and the boundless earth, a red apricot tree is on the verge of straying past it’s boundry..”

Ye Hua looked away to hide his laugh. I smiled widely at her. If she still don’t get this, I really don’t know what else to say.

“Mei mei, do you find it fitting?”

Miao Qing finally got it’s meaning. She quickly kneeled down.

“Your Highness, please don’t be angry. I didn’t know Your Highness has arrived” - she bowed.

I looked at Ye Hua. Your Highness?

Still looking down she continued. “I would never dare to be Your Highness’s mei mei. I only have respect for His Highness. I do not ask that His Highness promise me anything”

I shared another look with Ye Hua again. This is getting more interesting.

“My brother wants to marry me off to the West Sea. The 2nd Prince of West Sea is a hideous man. I truly had no other choice but to dance to request a meeting with His Highness”

“Oh?”

“Miao Qing only wishes to follow His Highness for eternity and served him as a maid. I wish for nothing more. Please grant me this wish, Your Highness”

“Ye Hua.. do you think this is something I should interfere?” - I asked him.

Before he could respond, A-Li spoke up.

“Mother, you just said Father is your sweetheart, your darling, your precious honey”

Oh.My.God. Did he just repeated every word I said?!

“Someone is here to steal Father and you're just going to let her? You did not mean what you said!”

Ye Hua advanced forward towards me and caught me for missing my steps backwards.

“You said.. I’m your sweetheart.. your darling.. your precious honey..?” - he leaned forward for a kiss..

Oh Yes? Bai Qian! Oh no.

I looked away. “Su Su” - he whispered. “Are you pretending to be ignorant or have you truly forgotten about me?

Errr.. both? But with you being so close now, how can I forget?!

Then I remembered about Miao Qing.

“You.. You clearly already know.. yet you tricked me into saying it..? You’re terrible”. I took the advantage to run away. This time, Ye Hua didn’t stop me.

I arrived at 4th Brother’s residence in the Far North after a brief encounter with Ghost Lord Li Jing. Yun Sheng, 4th Brother’s helper was sitting at the door step.

He ran over to greet me. “Aunt, you have not come by for many years!” - Yun Sheng exclaims. “You’ve come at the wrong time. Bi Fang ran away from home. 4th Uncle went to look for him yesterday. If you don’t mind, allow me to provide you my hospitality” - he said excitedly.

“What a hobby he has. He’s always chasing after a bird”

“Err.. I’m already used to it. Aunt, let’s hurry inside” - Yun Sheng pulled my sleeves.

“Wait. You seems to be acting strangely. Could it be that my 2nd Brother is here?” - I asked.

Yun Sheng gave a loud sigh. “Aunt, that is really a good guess. 2nd Uncle came here early in the morning. He’s in a bad mood. Didn’t you see me sitting outside?”  he asked. “I don’t dare to go in”

“I should get going”. I really didn’t want to meet 2nd Brother when he’s in a bad mood. But I got caught.

“Little fox” - 2nd Brother called. “Come in”

I turned back. “2nd Brother” - I pretended. “Let’s go” - I told Yun Sheng.

We sat at 4th Brother’s study. I could literally feel 2nd Brother boiling with anger. Yun Sheng walked in with 2 cups of tea, hands shaking while serving.

“Oh yes! Aunt, you just arrived. You must not have breakfast yet. I.. I’ll go prepare breakfast for you” - he made an excuse to leave the room.

I didn’t stop him. Poor boy so afraid of this 2nd Uncle.

2nd Brother broke the silence. “Where is Xiao Jiu?” - he asked.

“Ah.. a few days ago, she was still cooking in my Fox Den”. Actually, I’m not too sure.

“She has done many shameful things for Dong Hua’s sake. When she returned to my manor 300 years ago, I had to hang her up and spank her twice for her to become well behaved. If she’s in your residence, then keep a good eye on her”. It wasn’t a request. It was more like a command.

“Rest assured, 2nd Brother. I’ll surely keep her confined in the Fox Den. She won’t go outside to be a disgrace”

He nodded in agreement. “The life debt to Dong Hua Dijun..”

“2nd brother, don’t you worry” - I cut him off. “Qing Qiu will take on the debt that Xiao Jiu owes to Dong Hua Dijun. As her aunt, I’ll take in her stead”

He took a sip of his tea. “Hmm. Good”

Phew. That was close. I should give Xiao Jiu a good lecture when I get back.

“By the way, why did you suddenly came to the Far North?”

“The Water King’s son just turned one month old. He send an invitation to Qing Qiu. Mother and Father went traveling. I had nothing much to do, so I came for a visit”

“The Eastern Sea is in the east. If you are returning to Qing Qiu, you should be traveling east”

Crap. I got caught, AGAIN.

“Oh, I forgot to mention, 4th Brother had me to bring two jars of wine from Zhe Yan’s. So I came over to deliver along the way”. Thank god I had the wine as an excuse.

“What a trouble” - 2nd brother shake in disapproval.

“I better take them to the kitchen” - I suggested. Ran from one, now have to run from another. What a trip!

Outside the study, Yun Sheng was eavesdropping. I signaled him to follow me.

“Aunt, do you not want breakfast anymore?” - he asked.

“I’m leaving. These are the jars of peach blossom wine that 4th Brother wanted” - I handed him the jars.

“Oh. By the way Aunt, I heard just now that you attended the banquet at the Eastern Sea?”

“I did”

“I heard that the Crown Prince is there as well. Did you see him?”

“I did”

“Back when the Crown Prince came to the Far North to pacify the rebellions, I had the good fortune to deliver a map to His Highness. I’ll never forget Crown Prince’s grace”

After seeing Feng Jiu worry about how Qingti is adjusting, Dong Hua can’t help but wonder what their relationship had been. He knows Feng Jiu went to the mortal realm for his sake, and had somehow caused the death of Qingti by her interference. She had then mourned him for all this time...gave up half her cultivation...

What was their relationship like?

Dong Hua demanded Si Ming give him the real scroll for his mortal trial.

As Dong Hua reads through it, his mortal memories begin to resurface, along with a mistrust of Qingti.

Oh, he still trusts Feng Jiu, after all she had done to be with him as a pet, and literally taking a dagger to her heart after she ran away from their wedding, he knows why she committed ‘suicide’, and it wasn’t because of Qingti!

Ok, so maybe Dong Hua is feeling a little insecure. He can still hear Feng Jiu crying out for Qingti before the tomb collapsed.

He reminds himself that Feng Jiu chose to marry him, she did everything for him, she only liked Qingti as a friend...

But Qingti liked Feng Jiu, had dared to steal her from his sworn brother and emperor in the most disrespectful way...yeah, he saved the emperor several times too. Why else would he still be alive right now, and not impaled with the Canghe blade?

Qingti’s memory may have been fuzzy, but he behaves so casually in front of Dong Hua’s empress.

Currently Dong Hua watched Qingti place a hand on Feng Jiu’s hair, pointing out a knot.

That’s it! Qingti has to go.

It was a simple matter, Dong Hua merely gave Siming a new employee. Considering how Siming lied to Dong Hua before; he accepted this with good nature and claimed he was lacking help to Feng Jiu.

Meanwhile, Dong Hua set about cuddling with his empress. He wanted her to be intimate with him only.

Feng Jiu: you need to learn tolerance.

Dong Hua: I disagree.

When Jiheng asks Dong Hua to wait and he turns around, Feng Jiu courteously scoots on ahead and gives Jiheng privacy to speak to Dong Hua.

Xiao Yan followed her.

While Jiheng was pleading her case, Dong Hua wasn’t really listening because he was too busy trying to eavesdrop on his fiancée. Jiheng was pretty much talking to his back.

At the pond, Feng Jiu tries to cheer Xiao Yan up and distract him by splashing water on his face. She is unaware that it looks as if she is flirting.

Xiao Yan and Feng Jiu get caught up in a splashing duel, laughing and carefree, utterly ignoring their crushes standing only some feet away.

Dong Hua feels like he just swallowed a jug of pure vinegar. Jiheng’s voice was no more noticed than the buzzing of a fly.

Xiao Yan and Feng Jiu finally lie down on the grass, side by side. He promises Feng Jiu she will always be a comrade to him and Meng Shao. And yes, a hand ends up on her shoulder. Feng Jiu obviously doesn’t brush him away.

Dong Hua’s eyes flare and he shoots a blast of energy at Xiao Yan, sending him into the middle of the pond, flailing.

As Feng Jiu stares with her mouth open, Dong Hua orders Jiheng to stay in Fanyin Valley until she is cured. Hell, he even casts a spell to make sure she cannot leave.

When Xiao Yan angrily storms onshore, Dong Hua orders him to stay in Fanyin Valley to guard Jiheng in his place. The Blue Demon Clan can survive just fine without him until she is cured.

Xiao Yan: as I need your permission! Wherever Jiheng goes, I follow!

Dong Hua: good, then it’s settled. Xiao Bai let’s go.

And he starts pulling Xiao Bai towards the exit, leaving behind a tearful Jiheng. Dong Hua had totally tossed her aside like she was nothing but bait. Did she truly mean so little to him?

Feng Jiu demands Dong Hua apologize to Xiao Yan. Other than Meng Shao, she never really got close to anyone else in Fanyin Valley.

Dong Hua: are you trying to make me even more jealous?

Meanwhile, Mo Shao and Lian Song were running behind them. “Hey! Wait for us!”

Jewelry

Feng Jiu treasures her wedding ring and Qingti’s bracelets because they are meaningful, unlike the many jewellery she receives as Dong Hua’s Wife.

For Mother’s Day, Gun Gun gives his Mother a beautiful necklace he made himself. It took him a lot of hard work and research but he wanted to impress his Mother because she had so many jewels already.

Feng Jiu is pleased and assures Gun Gun this is easily her favourite necklace because he made it for her.

She shows Gun Gun her prized jewellery box, separate from the rest of her extensive jewellery. Inside are a few pieces of jewellery she values above all the rest she owns.

1. a hairpin Bai Qian gave her that also functions as a hidden dagger

2. Qing Ti’s bracelet since he wasn’t rich but still spent money on her

3. Earrings from Cheng Yu, her best friend

4. A brooch Ali spent most of his allowance on because Feng Jiu had been unhappy.

5. And now Gun Gun’s homemade necklace

Gun Gun points out that there is nothing from Father inside. Feng Jiu explains she is wearing it right now.

Gun Gun is happy his item is part of this set.

Unbeknownst to them, Dong Hua had entered the room looking for his Wife and had heard her list the jewellery she values most.

Dong Hua gets jealous of Qing Ti and his own Son and plots to remove the competition.

Thankfully, Dong Hua is actually skilled at making jewellery since it involves metalwork and sometimes clay.

While Feng Jiu happily receives them, they don’t go to the jewellery box. Seriously, why is Dong Hua suddenly giving her more intricate and elaborate jewellery?

Feng Jiu explains to Dong Hua that she likes simpler pieces.

One day the box goes missing and Feng Jiu is upset. She orders the servants to look for it.

In the end, Qing Ti persuades her to stop the search. The box may have been sentimental but he is pretty sure the givers were over it.

Cheng Yu hears the news and suspects Dong Hua has stolen the box.

She sighs, “Feng Jiu, Feng Jiu, you had to find yourself a jealous Husband. Oh well, more shopping for us then!”

They end up shopping in Qingqiu.

Lian Song: don’t you think you went overboard taking her jewellery case?

Dong Hua: don’t accuse the innocent. I merely promised to do Ali’s homework if he would hide the case for me.

Portrait dispute

While visiting Ali, Gun Gun saw the portrait Ye Hua painted of Bai Qian. After commending Ye Hua’s talent, Ali boasted that his Father also painted him with Mother.

Going home, GG asks Dong Hua to paint him and Feng Jiu together.

Dong Hua didn’t want to be excluded and suggested they have Bai Yi paint a family portrait. After all, Bai Yi was the best known artist.

Bai Yi agreed to the request.

While painting, Gun Gun asked his grandfather what was the best painting he had ever done.

Bai Yi: the ones of your Mother, of course.

GG: where are they? I want to see.

Bai Yi coughs: I...um...gave them away.

GG: oh, is it because grandfather wanted everyone to know of mother’s beauty?

Bai Yi: ...Yes...

Feng Jiu and Dong Hua saw where this was leading to and were unhappy for different reasons.

Later that evening, Feng Jiu told her husband not to do anything that would ruin his reputation or hers.

Dong Hua: why ever would you think that?

Feng Jiu, drily: really?

The next day, Dong Hua managed to learn who were Feng Jiu’s suitors and paid them a visit. If they didn’t have a portrait of Feng Jiu, they were honoured by his presence. If they did have it, either hidden away or in plain sight, either painted by Bai Yi or not, Dong Hua accused them of disrespecting his Wife. After all, she was already married, so why did they keep those portraits?

Those people ended up having to kowtow and kneel for a long time.

At night, Dong Hua ordered Chonglin to hang up all the portraits he collected.

Feng Jiu came over and stared. “I’m afraid to ask, but what did you do?”
