we’re three years old and we play tag in the rain, even as our teacher calls us for class; our own small rebellion. we’re five and laughing, chasing through ‘the woods’ and getting leaves caught in my hair which you pick out over lunch. we’re six and the other boys drag you across the playground, and i scream and i scream and they won’t stop. we’re seven and my mum’s stopped smiling so freely, and you hug me though we don’t understand why. we’re eight and i’m skittish around your father, around mine, around the headteacher, and you hold my hand in assembly and cry when i tell you i can’t come to school anymore. we’re eleven and we haven’t spoken for four years, we meet on the bus and there’s a distant smile. trying to find ourselves again. we’re fifteen, burning paper in class and sharing lunch once again, sharing memories with other’s who don’t know our history. we’re sixteen and stressed and nursing cramping hands and yet you run your notes by me as i ask for help.

F!Hawke and Isabela from Dragon Age - I will never shut up about how much I ship these two as long as I live. There is something so sweet about their relationship to me, how it unfolds over years and how it really takes its time. I cry every time I remember that Isabela came back and how Hawke said it was well worth the wait. It is my absolute favorite ship from the franchise which is really saying something because of how many great ships there are in DA. I just love ‘em!! :’)

Ninth Doctor and Rose from Doctor Who - So I know a lot of the more romantic moments happen when Ten comes along and I love all of that too, I do, but there is just something about the beginning of their relationship that really gets me. This angry, war-torn, conflicted man who had to make an impossible choice and survive it following around this bright-eyed, pink and yellow girl who does ridiculous things like try to protect the monsters trying to kill them. When the Doctor says that Rose made him better, he is talking about Nine and when Rose says that the Doctor showed her to stand-up and not just let things happen, she was talking about Nine then too. And I love them and I always will.

John and Cameron from TSCC - The most interesting thing to me about the Terminator franchise has always been John’s love for the machines built to kill him, the ones he is meant to lead a rebellion against and kill in turn. There were many great moments that very clearly showed his affection for Cameron but the best were always the ones that caused you pause over Cameron’s for John. How real can that be when she is just a machine? Or is she more than that because of their relationship? There’s just so many layers to these two. I will forever be disappointed that we never got a satisfactory conclusion to the show and their relationship.

Clark and Bruce from DC - Like realistically I’m very much into Clois and Batcat for a multitude of reasons. But I love both Clark and Bruce so putting them together is like the angels singing straight into my heart. On paper, they shouldn’t have much in common and they don’t really except where it counts which is just so interesting to me, their similarities and their differences. Of course I’m most familiar with their DCEU incarnations but so many of the moments over the literal decades of comics history together are just so special to me. Like Clark memorizing Bruce’s heartbeat specifically? Bruce cradling a naked Clark’s face just to ask him to dinner? Clark giving Bruce a shard of Kryptonite in case he ever gets out of control and trusting Bruce to do the right thing in that situation? Bruce literally finding his way again and his hope in humanity restored after a few hours in Clark’s presence? When will your favs ever???

Luke Skywalker and happiness from Star Wars - Lucasfilm really doing the most to try and fuck this one up for me but I do not care. I will see Luke happy even if I have to plug my fingers in my ears and close my eyes the entirety of Episode 8. Y’all at Disney are seriously overestimating my investment in this franchise if anything else bad happens to my son.
