I hope that someday, somebody wants to hold you for twenty minutes straight, and that's all they do. They don't pull away. They don't look at your face. They don't try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms, without an ounce of selfishness in it.

just saw the waitress proshot. most vindicating moment was when jenna & becky were dancing at dawn’s wedding and i thought to myself [I think they do lesbianisms together which is fine.jpg] and almost immediately jenna said “maybe we should have an affair”

one of the most frequent criticisms of waitress that gets tossed around is "it's too cutesy and saccharine" and I don't not get what people are getting at when they say that but I feel like the show has considerably too much on-stage sex and domestic violence for that to really ring true. tbh.

Finally watched Waitress (thank you Fathom events proshot) and the whole time Dr. Pomatter was being awkward on screen I was just imagining Jenna being like "damn i can't not fuck him."

I’ve been going crazy about this since I saw the waitress pro shot in December:
Sarah Bareilles is a lyrical genius for this line alone.
In Bad Idea, during the bridge, Dr. Pomatter and Jenna sing, “I know what’s right for me, it’s the only thing—“
Now pause here.
Nearly every lyrics site has told me they both sing “I’ve ever done” after that line.
Not. True.
If you listen closely, you can clearly hear, Pomatter say, “I’ve ever done” when Jenna says, “I’ve NEVER done”.
ABSOLUTE GENIUS ON SARAHS PART.
Why? You may ask— and thank you so much for asking.
This addition of one letter explains the deepest most fundamental parts of their personalities.
Pomatter says, “I know what’s right for me, it’s the only thing I’ve ever done,” because all his life Pomatter has done things that are—by definition— right for him. He became a doctor, he married a doctor, he’s played it safe and kept his cards close to his chest emotionally, doing the best, safest things for himself.
Jenna on the other hand, sings, “I know what’s right for me, it’s the only thing I’ve never done,” because throughout her life she’s seen all these things that are good and right for her to pursue and she hasn’t taken the risk to go after them, (ie the pie contest). In Jenna’s life, the things that have been the safest are bad for her.
So even though they have the opposite problem, they have both played everything so safe in their lives, this affair is something that fulfills that need to do something crazy and feel something deeply for a change.
In this essay I will—
