oh, bi the way
buckley sibling feels || rated: g || wc: 663
Buck knocked on the door, his hands shaking slightly. He blew out a breath and bounced on the balls of his feet while he waited for Maddie to answer the door.
The door opened and Buck felt himself relax as his older sister came into view. “Buck? Hey, I wasn’t expecting you! Come on in.”
Buck followed behind Maddie, closing the door behind him. “I’m sorry to drop in on you without calling, I just— I needed to talk to you.”
“You don’t have to call, Buck,” Maddie said, giving him a soft look. “You know that. Our door is always open to you.”
“Thanks, Mads,” Buck mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. “Uh, you might want to sit down.”
“Okay, now you’re scaring me,” Maddie said, hesitantly sitting down at the kitchen table. She gestured for Buck to sit next to her but he shook his head and stayed standing. “What’s going on, Buck?”
He swallowed roughly and let out a shaky sigh. “I need to tell you something. I— I, uh, kind of only just realized this? It’s new. Very new and I’m— I don’t— I don’t know how to say it.”
Maddie watched as he paced in front of her. “Hey, Buck, look at me. There’s nothing you can’t tell me—“
“I think I’m bisexual,” Buck blurted out, cutting her off.
It was quiet for a beat and then Maddie gave him a gentle smile, standing up and holding her arms out. “Come here.”
Buck folded himself into her arms, making himself smaller and letting out a shuddering breath.
“Thank you for telling me,” Maddie whispered, stroking her hand up his back. “I know that wasn’t easy and I’m so proud of you, Evan. I really am.”
“Thank you,” Buck mumbled, squeezing her tight. He still felt shaky, adrenaline in his veins. He’d known that Maddie would be nothing but supportive but coming out was still scary as hell and she was one of the most important people in the world to him.
“Let’s sit on the couch,” Maddie said, nudging him towards it. “You’re shaking.”
Maddie led him to the couch and they sat down, Buck leaning his head on her shoulder. Her arm came around him and her fingers settled in his hair, playing with it gently and making him relax even further. They sat like that for a while, with Maddie just calmly carding her fingers through his hair and Buck waiting for his racing heart to settle down.
“Have you told anyone else?” Maddie asked when Buck finally settled.
“No, I wanted you to be the first,” Buck admitted shyly.
Maddie squeezed him closer, pressing a kiss to the side of his head. “I’m honoured.”
“Do I have to tell the others?”
“You don’t have to tell anyone you don’t want to,” Maddie said firmly. “If you want to tell the team, I know they’ll be more than supportive but if you aren’t ready there’s absolutely no rush, Buck. You decide when you’re ready. If at all.”
“Thanks, Mads,” Buck mumbled. “It’s not that I don’t want to tell them— or that I think they’ll be unsupportive— it’s just…it feels like a big thing and I don’t want anything to change. I hate change.”
“I know you do, but just remember you don’t have to do anything you aren’t ready for, okay?” She moved so Buck had to look her in the eyes. “This is something that you control. When and if you’re ready, the team will be there to support you. They’re our family. Everything will be okay.” “Will you be there?” Buck asked, looking at her with wide eyes. “When I tell them?”
“If you want me to, I’ll be there in a heartbeat,” Maddie squeezed his hand, giving him a bright smile. “You can count on me.”
“I know,” Buck smiled. He held his hand out for her to lock her pinky with his. “I always can.”

youhane, ~450 words there’s a certain kind of romance in the mundane i think
***
For Yoshiko, it probably starts when she forgets her water bottle during practice one day.
“Water’s for nerds,” she wants to say, only she knows Kanan and Dia would never let her hear the end of it, so instead she searches through her bag for the half-empty Snapple bottle she’s almost sure is still in there because hey, drinks are drinks and all that matters is that she’s at least trying to stay hydrated, right?
Wrong, apparently, because when Kanan sees her she gives her the blandest look (which, frankly, is a little insulting) and says to her point-blank, “You can’t drink that.”
“Oh, come on. What are you, my dad?”
“I remember when you bought that. It was, what, a month ago?”
Maybe more like two, but what Kanan doesn’t know won’t kill her.
Kanan says, “It’s gone bad by now.”
Yoshiko stares. “Are you kidding? These things are, like, radioactive.” She shakes the bottle. “I could drink this in ten years and I’d be fine—.”
“No, Yoshiko.” Kanan puts a hand on her shoulder and looks her in the eye. She says in one of her gentlest voices, “You wouldn’t.” She sounds like the beginning of a lecture. Yoshiko is ready to die.
Then, who should slip in but Yousoro herself, a knight in shining armor, or really just a kid in a snapback, but in such a dire moment they’re pretty much the same thing. She’s got a glint in her eye as she calls out, “Dare you to leave it in the clubroom and drink it when we graduate.”
“Yō!” Kanan turns to her with a frown (or an attempt at one, but she looks suspiciously close to laughter instead) and Yoshiko manages to catch her gaze and mime the prayer emoji.
Yō salutes in return. “Aye! Yō Watanabe, going full steam ahead, always ready to make a quick buck off of unsuspecting first-years!”
“Oh?” Yoshiko sniggers, ducking away from Kanan to approach the Chill upperclassman. Her fingers knit behind her head. “Well, joke’s on you because that just means I get the sweet taste of cancer and victory.”
Yō isn’t fazed in the slightest. “It’s so on.” There’s a flavor of challenge in her words. She taps the rim of her cap.
Somewhere in the distance, Chika is laughing loudly, and Dia’s ranting about health issues or whatever. Kanan’s wearing that where did I go wrong with you two look, probably. Yoshiko isn’t really paying attention to any of it, though, because Yō is beaming like sunlight, and it’s not like that in and of itself is unusual or anything — she always smiles like that, a grin to part the clouds — but this time, for some reason, by some power, Yoshiko can’t look away.
Yeah. That’s about when it starts, she thinks.

whenever you're ready
buck & bobby || rated: g || wc: 792 || read on ao3
Buck had been kind of expecting it when Bobby pulled him aside one day after shift and gently asked to speak with him.
He knew he was acting weird around the station, that he was jittery and flighty but he couldn’t help it. So far he had only told Maddie that he was bisexual and it was sitting on the tip of his tongue anytime he was around the others. He desperately wanted to tell them but he didn’t want to just blurt it out over breakfast, he wanted to tell them all individually. Buck wasn’t exactly sure why he wanted to do it like that, surely ripping off the bandaid and telling everyone at once would be easier but he felt vulnerable sharing this part of him and he wanted to do it how it felt right to him.
He felt anxious as Bobby closed the door behind them, leaving them alone in the captain’s office.
“Talk to me, Buck,” Bobby said gently, gesturing for him to have a seat in one of the chairs in front of his desk. “You’ve been jumpy for a couple days now. Is something going on, kid?”
“I— I haven’t been jumpy,” He tried, swallowing roughly when Bobby just gave him a look.
Bobby surprised him by sitting down on the chair next to him, Buck had been expecting him to sit at his desk. “I know something is going on, Buck. You don’t have to talk about it, I can’t make you, but I just want you to know that I’m here for you, no matter what it is, okay?”
Buck felt his throat go tight as tears burned at his eyes, taking him by surprise. The earnest support in Bobby’s expression made him crumble. “I— I realized something about myself the other day.”
“Okay,” Bobby said, encouraging him to continue with a nod of his head.
“I’m bisexual,” Buck said quickly, getting the words out as fast as possible.
Bobby was quiet for a moment, digesting Buck’s words and making Buck sweat. But then he was cracking a wide smile and saying, “Thank you for telling me, kid. I’m so proud of you.”
Buck felt all the tension melt away. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Bobby nodded. He stood up and held out his arms, unsurprised when Buck shot up and collapsed against him. Bobby tucked Buck against his chest and hugged him tightly.
“You’re sure you’re okay with it?” Buck asked. He knew that Bobby had never been anything but accepting with Hen but there was still that kernel of anxiety that sat in his chest, weighing him down.
“Of course, Buck,” Bobby reassured him. “You love who you love and that’s that. I’m glad that you’ve figured this out.”
“Me too,” Buck said, pulling away from the hug. “I feel…free in a way that I’ve never felt before,” He admitted shyly.
“Well, it’s a pretty big thing to discover so that makes sense,” Bobby said, putting his hand on Buck’s shoulder and squeezing. “So that’s why you’ve been so jumpy?”
“Yeah,” Buck looked down at his hands. “I want to tell everyone I’m just…nervous.”
“You know they’ll give you nothing but support, right?”
“I know,” Buck nodded. “I just…it’s hard to find the words, I guess. I’ve told Maddie and now you, I guess I should tell the rest of them, huh?”
“Who you tell, and when, is up to you, son. We’re your family, we’ll be here when you’re ready,” Bobby said quietly.
“Yeah, that’s what Maddie said,” Buck gave him a small smile. “I think I’m almost ready.”
“You don’t have to rush, you can let it happen when it happens,” Bobby advised. “Whatever it is you choose, just make sure it’s what’s best for you.”
Buck swallowed roughly, his throat going tight again as emotion rushed through him. He’d known Bobby would be supportive but he hadn’t expected how it would affect him, to have the man he saw as a father figure accept him with total ease, not even an ounce of hesitation. “Thank you, Bobby,” Buck said sincerely. “You have no idea what this means to me.”
Bobby just hugged him again and Buck let a breath, hugging back just as tightly. When they separated Bobby cleared his throat. “Now, go on. You must have somewhere to be on a Friday night.”
“Actually,” Buck ducked his head. “Our date is tomorrow.”
“Good for you, kid,” Bobby smiled. “You have fun and stay safe.”
“You got it, Cap,” Buck saluted, grinning as he walked to the door and let himself out of the office. He walked out of the station smiling and whistling to himself, feeling so light and carefree.
Two down, a few more to go.

Eddie didn’t do this.
He didn’t go to bars and get drunk and spill his heart to the bartender. He didn’t stare at his phone like a loser and swipe through pictures of him and godforsaken crush.
Except tonight, he did.
Or, the one where Eddie gets drunk and pines. Includes Maddie & Eddie friendship, lots of miscommunication, and a happy fluffy ending.

Buck hadn’t planned on doing anything to show his displeasure at the sudden friendship between Eddie and Tommy, despite the fact that it sent hot, furious jealousy coursing through his veins. Really, he hadn’t. It’s just…well, he was just going for the ball during their basketball game…unfortunately Eddie happened to get pushed out of the way in order for Buck to get said ball.
Or, the one where Eddie gets hurt playing basketball. 7x04 Speculation/What If.

settle
buck & chimney || rated: g || wc: 702 || read on ao3
A week after he’d been there to tell Maddie, Buck found himself once again at the Buckley-Han residence. Although he knew that she wouldn’t, a part of him hoped that Maddie would have told Chimney so he didn’t have to. But alas, here he was. Buck had already come out to three people so he was feeling a lot more sure of himself. He had however taken the bisexual pride pin Hen had given him and put it in his pocket for good luck. He felt around for it and turned it over with his fingers while he waited for Maddie or Chimney to answer the door.
Chimney swung the door open, a wide smile on his face. “Buckaroo! Just in time, you can settle this argument for me.”
“Oh, um, if you’re having an argument I’ll come back later,” Buck said, putting his hands up. “I don’t want to get in the middle of anything.”
“Not a real argument,” Maddie called from inside the house. “Chim’s just being ridiculous.”
Chimney scoffed, stuffing a gummy worm into his mouth and making Buck realize that he had a handful of them. “Come on in, Buck, we were just having a little movie night until your sister started spouting nonsense.”
Buck stepped into the house, his shoulders relaxing at the sound of Maddie’s laughter. It never failed to soothe him, knowing his big sister was there and that she was happy. “Where’s Jee?”
“She’s with Mrs. Lee for the night, she wanted some grandma time,” Maddie replied, patting the seat next to her on the couch. “Come sit. What’s up?”
Buck took a seat next to her and Chimney sat down on the armchair, munching on his gummy worms. “I, uh, came to talk to Chim,” Buck said, giving Maddie a meaningful look. Understanding dawned on her and she glanced at Chim who was looking at Buck with open curiosity.
“What’s up, Buck?” Chimney asked. “Why do you look so nervous?”
“Uh, well, you see— wait, you said you were having an argument?” Buck stalled.
“Yeah!” Chimney exclaimed, letting himself get distracted. “Maddie said that Henry Cavill isn’t attractive! I said that everyone thinks he’s attractive. You’re the deciding vote.”
Buck snorted. “Of course he’s attractive, I don’t have to be bi to know that.” He flushed when he realized what he’d said. “Uh, I mean— well actually, that’s kind of what I came to tell you, Chim.”
Chimney’s brows drew together. “That you find Henry Cavill attractive? Not that I’m not happy to see you man, but that could have been a text.”
“N-no,” Buck shook his head, biting his lip. “That I’m— I’m bi.”
“Oh,” Chimney looked surprised.
“When you said I made you my basketball beard, you weren’t exactly wrong,” Buck rubbed the back of his neck nervously. “I, uh, yeah.”
Chimney grinned. “I knew I was a beard,” He crowed. “It’s not the first time I’ve been one, you get a sense about these things. Anyway, good for you, Buckaroo. Who’s the lucky man?”
“Uh, well, Tommy actually,” Buck flushed a brighter pink, a small smile playing on his lips. “He kissed me and we went out on a date. We’re, uh, taking things slow.”
“Oh, I’m surprised it’s not Ed—” Chimney was cut off from saying anything else when Maddie cleared her throat loudly. He looked at her and she shook her head slightly. Chimney pasted a bright smile on his face. “I’m happy for you, Buck. Congratulations.”
Buck gave them a confused look, but ultimately decided not to question it. He wasn’t sure he was ready to hear the answer. “Thank you,” He said, ducking his head. “I should get going. I’ll leave you two to your movie night.”
The three of them stood up and Maddie gave him a huge hug before passing him off to Chimney who hugged him just as tightly. “I’m proud of you, brother. Thank you for telling me,” Chimney said softly.
Buck’s breathing hitched and he squeezed Chim back. They pulled apart and Buck gave them both a happy nod before he headed out, humming a cheerful tune under his breath. That had gone well.
Now he just had to tell Eddie.

welcome to the club
buck & hen || rated: g || wc: 908 || read on ao3
Buck rang the doorbell to Hen’s house and took a deep breath. He was nervous but since coming out to Maddie and Bobby, he wasn’t as anxious as he might have been. He was ready, he was going to tell Hen today.
Hen opened the door with a look of surprise. “Buck?”
“Hey, Hen, uh, can I come in?” Buck asked, biting his lip as he played with his hands.
“Yeah, of course,” Hen said, shaking off the surprise and stepping to the side, gesturing for him to come in. “If this is you wanting to get day drunk again I’m afraid I’m going to have to take a rain check, I have to pick up Denny in two hours.”
“No,” Buck laughed, proud that his voice was only a little bit shaky. “That’s not it at all.”
“Okay, then what brings you to my door?” Hen asked, taking a seat at the table and nodding for Buck to do to the same.
Buck swallowed, taking a seat and folding his hands on top of the table. “I came to tell you something. It’s something I only recently figured out and I’m telling you guys one by one which feels like the right move but also it’s been terrifying as fuck. So far I’ve only told Maddie and Bobby and that’s because Maddie’s my older sister and Bobby asked me about it, y’know?” He rambled, unable to stop now that he had started. “And I know it would be ridiculous to think that you would think differently of me because,” Buck gestured vaguely. “but I don’t know, you’re like a sister to me and this is really scary and—”
“Okay, okay, slow down there, Buck,” Hen interrupted, putting a calming hand on his. Buck let out a shuddering breath. “Now, I think I know where you’re going with this, but take a deep breath and continue.”
Buck followed her instructions, letting her steady presence anchor him. He felt his heart slow down and he closed his eyes, inhaling and exhaling. “I’m— I think— well, actually, I know—“ He cut himself off, huffing when the words refused to tumble out. “I’m bisexual.” He said finally, forcing the words from his lips.
He stared at his hands as he waited for her answer.
“I was wondering when you were going to figure it out.”
Buck’s head shot up and he stared at Hen in shock. “You knew?”
Hen shrugged slightly. “I’ve always had a feeling but I was never one hundred percent sure.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” He asked.
Hen laughed quietly. “Buck, I can’t tell you how to feel or how to identify. Sure, I had my suspicions but they were always just that.”
“Yeah, but I might have figured it out earlier if you had told me,” Buck grumbled, pouting slightly.
Hen gave him an amused look. “This was always something you were going to have to figure out on your own, Buckaroo. And now that you have, I can say welcome to the club.”
Buck smiled widely, his cheeks hurting. “Y-Yeah, I guess I am part of the club.”
“Now,” Hen gave him a mock serious look. “Who is it?”
“What do you mean?” Buck asked even though his cheeks flushed. He had a feeling he knew what she was asking.
“Who made you realize it?”
“Uh,” Buck briefly considered lying and claiming it just came to him but if he was being honest with people he might as well go all the way. “It was Tommy. He kissed me.”
“Work Tommy? Tommy Kinard?” Hen asked, surprised. The surprise only lasted a few seconds before she said, “Yeah, you know what, that makes sense.”
Buck laughed, his cheeks bright pink. “Yeah, he, uh. He’s something else.”
“Well, thanks for telling me, Buck. I know that it’s not an easy thing to do,” She reached over and squeezed his hand again. “I’m very proud of you.”
“People keep saying that,” Buck said, ducking his head to hide the tears that sprang up in his eyes. “I don’t know if I deserve it.”
“It’s not an easy thing to do, Buck. Being open and honest about yourself is terrifying, even when it’s people you know who will support you,” Hen said gently. “So yeah, I’m proud of you and you should be proud of yourself.”
Buck felt his throat go tight as he got choked up. “Thanks, Hen,” He whispered. “That means a lot.”
“Anytime, Buckaroo. Anytime.”
And when Buck got to work the next time they had a shift together, Hen came up to him, hiding something behind her back. “I have a present for you.” She handed him a little bag and after giving her a curious look, Buck looked inside.
In the bag was a rolled up bisexual pride flag, a pin, and a fridge magnet. Immediately Buck felt like he couldn’t breathe, emotion choking him up. “Hen…”
She shrugged. “It’s not much but I know how much it meant to me when I got my first flag, so I hoped that I could be the one to give it to you.”
Buck tugged her into a bear hug, his throat too tight to get the words out, so he hoped that she felt just how grateful he was through their hug. God, he loved his family. Hen hugged back just as tightly and Buck knew that she had gotten the message loud and clear.

so let the words slip out of your mouth
buck & eddie || rated: g || wc: 1.7k || read on ao3
Buck wasn’t trying to hide from Eddie. Really, he wasn’t. It’s just….every time Buck tried to get the words out he clammed up. He was pretty sure that Eddie thought there was something wrong with him, he’d been giving Buck increasingly worried looks over the last couple weeks.
Eddie had overheard Hen telling him that she would add him to the queer LAFD group chat— not she had said what the group chat was for at the time— and he’d given Buck a weird look, as he knew how much Buck hated group chats. Buck was also sure that Eddie had noticed the look on Bobby’s face when he looked at Buck sometimes, like he was proud of him, happy for him. It never failed to warm Buck from head to toe but he knew it made Eddie curious. The worst was probably Chimney, who, after a few too many weird goodbyes, had stopped saying bye altogether and had taken to saying adios.
So Eddie definitely knew something was up with Buck, but Buck was pretty sure he didn’t know what.
Buck was sitting at his table, staring into space as he contemplated how to tell Eddie. Tommy had just left— they’d had a nice romantic date before Tommy had to leave due to an early shift the next morning and Buck was still giddy over their date. Things were good between him and Tommy. Solid. They’d only been dating for a few weeks but Buck was over the moon and he was really excited to see where things were going to go between them.
A soft knock sounded at his door, breaking him out of his thoughts.
Buck went to answer it, figuring it was Tommy. “You forget something?” He asked as he opened the door.
Only it wasn’t Tommy, it was Eddie. “Hey, Buck. Can we talk?”
“Y-yeah, of course,” Buck stumbled over his words, moving to the side so Eddie could come in. Buck swallowed roughly as he shut the door behind him. Looks like they’d be having this conversation whether he was ready or not. “What do you want to talk about?”
Eddie just gave him a look. “You know what.”
Buck sighed. “I wasn’t trying to hide it from you, Eds. I just didn’t know how to tell you.”
“Tell me what?” Eddie pressed, shoving his hands in his pockets. “If I’m being honest, Buck, I don’t really know what’s going on. I just know that everyone at work is acting weird, like they’re in on this secret and I’m not, and I’ve tried to figure it out, trust me. But I can’t. What could be so bad that you can’t tell me?”
“It’s not bad, I promise,” Buck said earnestly. “There’s nothing wrong, I’ve just…figured some things out.”
“Okay…” Eddie trailed off, looking at Buck when he didn’t elaborate. “What things?”
“It’s that— I’m—” Buck tried, swallowing against the lump in his throat. His heart was beating so fast, just like it had the first time he came out. You’d think all the practice he’d had would have made it easier but something about coming out to Eddie made everything feel so much more.
“Is it that you’re hanging out with Tommy? I saw him leave. You guys don’t have to hide it,” Eddie said, his brow furrowed. “It’s not like I’d be upset. A little bummed that I’m not invited but not upset,” Eddie chuckled, although his laughter trailed off when Buck just stood there.
“Tommy and I…” Buck started, clearing his throat. “We are hanging out but we’re not friends.”
“How does that work?” Eddie looked adorably confused.
“Eds, we’re dating.”
“Oh,” Eddie said, his eyebrows raising in surprise. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” Buck said, rubbing the back of his neck in a nervous gesture. “So I’m…the news is that I’m bisexual. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you.”
Eddie was quiet for a moment, digesting the new information while Buck fidgeted in front of him. “So…when we ran into you at the pizza place…you guys were on a date, weren’t you?”
“Yeah, it was our first,” Buck mumbled, unable to keep a small smile from gracing his lips. The date had been a little tense and a whole lot awkward when Eddie and Marisol interrupted but then Tommy had walked him back to his door and kissed him and Buck had melted, throwing himself into the kiss. They’d found their footing and it hadn’t been awkward since.
“Shit, Buck, I’m so sorry, we totally interrupted,” Eddie looked dismayed.
“It’s okay, you didn’t know,” Buck reassured.
“I’m still sorry,” Eddie said quietly. “And I’m sorry for storming over here and basically forcing you to tell me. You clearly didn’t want to and I made you and I’m just, I’m sorry.”
“Hey, hey, no,” Buck said, his brow furrowing as he took a step closer to Eddie. “You didn’t make me do anything, I was always going to tell you, I was just having a hard time finding the words.”
Eddie let out a sigh of relief and closed the distance between them, pulling Buck into a bear hug. Buck hugged back just as tightly, letting out a shuddering breath when Eddie whispered, “I’m proud of you, Buck. Thanks for telling me.”
“You’re welcome,” Buck mumbled back. A quick fleeting thought dashed across his mind that Eddie’s arms felt so good around him, something he’d always known but now it was at the forefront of his mind. It felt different now and Buck felt a tendril of confusion. Why did hugging his best friend feel different now? Why did it feel better? Like something was slotting together? Buck shook his head as he pulled away from the hug, trying to physically shake away the thoughts. He wasn’t ready to think about that. “I’m surprised you’re here so late, where’s Chris?”
“Ah,” Eddie looked sheepish. “We had a bit of a fight and he wanted space so Tia Pepa said she’d take him for the night.”
“Oh? About what?” Buck was confused, the amount of times Eddie and Christopher had fought was a very small number.
Eddie sighed. “It’s dumb, you probably don’t want to hear it,” He tried to brush it off. “Let’s talk about more important things: so, you and Tommy?”
Buck ducked his head, blushing. “Yeah, me and Tommy.”
“That’s great, Buck, I’m really happy for you,” Eddie said. A quick expression flitted across his face, too quick for Buck to decipher it, before Eddie gave him a genuine smile.
“Thanks, Eds,” Buck murmured, a pleased glow lighting up his face. “I’ll tell you anything you want to know but first, talk to me about Chris. What did you fight about, is he okay?” Buck was concerned for his favourite Diaz.
“He’s not Marisol’s biggest fan,” Eddie sighed, scrubbing his jaw. “He doesn’t like that she’s been babysitting him so much— which is on me, I’ve been going out a lot with Tommy, especially that first couple of weeks and now, I just— I guess I have to figure that out.”
“Shit, Eddie, I’m sorry,” Buck said, his voice soft with sympathy. “You want a beer?”
“God, yes please,” Eddie blew out a breath, coming to sit down at the island in Buck’s kitchen. Buck placed an opened beer in front of him and then opened one for himself. “Thanks, Buck.” Eddie said gratefully, taking a hearty sip.
“So, what are you going to do?”
“I don’t even know,” Eddie said, picking at the beer bottle label. “If I’m being honest, I’m not…really feeling it? Like, it was exciting at first and she’s nice but that’s…that’s it. I don’t feel a spark with her, y’know? I don’t really feel anything for her. I guess that’s why I kind of blew up at Chris, because I felt guilty that I wasn’t actually upset that he didn’t like her.”
“If you want me to talk to him, just let me know,” Buck offered.
“That would be great, I’d really appreciate that.”
“No problem,” Buck smiled before he took a deep breath, steeling himself for his next question. “Speaking of Christopher, Eddie can I….can I tell him? About me?”
Eddie looked at him in surprise. “Buck, of course. You don’t even have to ask. Besides, he’s…” Eddie trailed off, looking at Buck with soft eyes. “He’s your kid too.”
Buck swallowed against the sudden lump in his throat, feeling tears sting his eyes. “Y-yeah?”
“Yeah, Buck,” Eddie grinned.
“You’ve never said that before,” Buck said shyly.
“To be honest I thought you knew,” Eddie’s voice was gentle. “You’re his guardian if anything happens to me.”
“Yeah, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s mine,” Buck countered, looking down at his hands.
“It does to me,” Eddie replied firmly, so there was so ifs, ands, or buts. “He’s ours.”
“Ours,” Buck tested the word out, liking the way it sounded. “Okay. Ours.”
Eddie’s smile could outshine the sun and Buck felt his heart skip a beat, just like it always did when Eddie smiled at him.
The two of them were quiet for a minute, basking in the comfortable silence while they sipped their beer, before Buck eventually spoke up. “How do you think I should tell him?”
“That you’re bi?” Eddie asked and Buck nodded. “I’d just say it straight.”
Buck laughed. “Well, I don’t know if I can say it straight.”
Eddie chuckled. “You’re going to be making all the puns now, aren’t you?” His voice was unbearably fond and Buck wanted to wrap himself around the glow it lit inside him. “You know what I meant. Just say it outright, you know he’ll support you. You may have to explain what bisexual means but honestly I think he’s going to be very casual about it. Plus, he likes Tommy so you know he’s going to be excited that you’re dating.”
“Okay, great,” Buck’s shoulders relaxed and he let out a huge sigh of relief. “Thank you, Eddie.”
“You don’t have to thank me, Buck,” Eddie said. “Now come on, let’s finish these while we watch a shitty movie.”
“Sounds good,” Buck said warmly, following Eddie to the couch. And it did— sound good. He felt better than he had in weeks now that Eddie knew and was okay with it— just like Buck had always known he would be, but that small part of him that worried was loud. As Buck leaned back against the couch while they flicked through the movie options, he felt complete. And very, very free.

a matching pair (we go together)
buck x eddie || rating: T || wc: 1.3k
“Hey, dad?” Christopher asked, his voice breaking the comfortable silence in the truck.
“Yeah, buddy?” Eddie answered, looking at him in the mirror.
“Some of my classmates were making friendship bracelets at school today, but when my friends and I asked if we could join they said no and that it wasn’t for boys. Is— is that true?”
“No, that’s not true,” Eddie said firmly, glancing behind him quickly so he could look Chris in the eye. “If you want to make friendship bracelets for your friends, I think that’s a great idea.”
“Okay!” Christopher exclaimed, his excitement clear. “Can we go to the store now and get the supplies?”
Or, the one where Eddie makes the team friendship bracelets.

pretty in pink
buck x eddie || rating: explicit || wc: 3.9k
The third time that Buck shivered, Eddie put down his phone and huffed. “Okay that’s it. I’m getting you a sweater or something,” Eddie said, moving away from the kitchen island in Buck’s apartment and making his way to the stairs.
“What?” Buck looked confused.
“You’ve been shivering for ten minutes, Buck. You need a hoodie.”
“Thanks, Eds,” Buck called after him, busying himself with the vegetables he was chopping instead of the warm feeling that bloomed in his chest at the way Eddie always took such good care of him.
Eddie jogged up the stairs and went to Buck’s drawers, searching for a sweatshirt or something that would keep Buck warm. What he wasn’t expecting, was to open Buck’s bottom drawer and find something hidden— something pink. Furrowing his brow, Eddie pulled out the piece of fabric and looked down at his hands in shock.
Panties.
Or, the one where Eddie finds out Buck's little secret and Buck wrongly assumes he has a problem with it so Eddie has to set things straight.

soothe the ache in me
buck x eddie || rated: t || wc: 3k
It was supposed to just be a friendly game of basketball between coworkers. It was not supposed to be an event in which Buck bodily injured his best friend.
He was trying to go for the ball. Promise. It’s just…Eddie happened to be in the way and well, Buck was a sore loser. He didn’t want to lose to Tommy of all people. It’s not his fault that Eddie was on Tommy’s team— something that had sent insidious jealousy flooding through him. He was Eddie’s best friend. He was always Eddie’s partner and teammate in things. But how could he protest when Eddie had looked at him with those big brown eyes and shrugged, said it might be fun to play on opposite teams for once.
It wasn’t. It wasn’t fun.
Or, the one where Buck gets a headache while trying to take care of Eddie and Chris after Eddie's injury.
