GOOD OMENS SPOILERS.

So I've been thinking a lot about Muriel. About how they're sweet and naive and sort of dumb, and they're a 37th class angel.

In fact, Muriel’s level of naivety is nearly the same as Jim-level naivety/dumbness. And Jim was supposed to be a 38th class angel, after being demoted from Supreme Archangel and having his memories removed.

And when this was revealed Muriel says 'I didn't know there was a class below me', what if Muriel is just a demoted angel? What if Heaven just keeps demoting any angel who goes against God’s (the Metatron’s) Plan and making a new, lower class for them? Instead of making them fall, they just keep taking memories and demoting angels so that there wont be a perceived ‘institutional problem’. Which there isn’t. Right?

I think one of the worst parts is that Crowley had to sit there and watch Gabriel (not Jim; The Archangel Fucking GABRIEL) get HIS Jane-Austen-William-Shakespeare-When-Harry-Met-Sally happy ending with a demon he never tried to change...

Highlights of ComicCon include but are not limited to:

-A Bildad the Shuhite cosplayer who showed off a long scroll "permit" signed by David Tennant and gave me a ribbon for my badge that says "I was cobbled/midwifed by Bildad the Shuhite". This same Bildad screamed in response to being given one of my snakes and said "I have lizards!" but I think the lizards were in a backpack somewhere so I didn't end up getting one, which is just as well because I'm sure Job wanted them back.

-An Aziraphale cosplayer who gave me a "missing snake" poster with Crowley on it, and the three subsequent people who showed me copies of the poster after being instructed to show it to any Crowley they saw. This Aziraphale's response to receiving one of my snakes was "Have I finally found him...?"

-The James Long For Jim Short For Gabriel cosplayer with a tartan toga, a cardboard box, and a matchbox with a little fly in it. He was very cool and he let me and my girlfriend re-create the "minor miracle" shot with him

-The person who asked for a photo of me and my girlfriend and then just casually slid friendship bracelets onto both of our wrists, hers said "oh Lord, heal this bike" and mine said "Vavoom" which happens to be one of my favorite s2 Crowley quotes

-The Aziraphale and Crowley cosplayers with huge wings that gave me and my girlfriend stickers of Blackbeard and Crowley as drinking buddies

-The 60s Ineffable Wives cosplayers! You were doing the Lord's... Satan's... well, somebody's work, anyway!

-Me amusing myself and no one else by joking that my feet hurt because I was walking on "comic-con-secrated ground". I made this joke at least three times

-The other Aziraphales and Crowleys that did the "Spiderman pointing at himself" meme with me and my girlfriend

-My good friends Tanya and Kassidy who were very patiently taking photos while my girlfriend and I re-created The Kiss. After the fact my girlfriend was like "that was the most violent kiss I've ever experienced in my life" and I was like "sorry if I hurt you but you saw the scene that was NOT a gentle kiss!"

-The Beelzebub cosplayer who, in return for one of my snakes, attempted to give me a fly that was intended for a Jim/Gabriel cosplayer. It was the sweetest thing ever but I gave it back in hopes that they'd find the Jim I saw earlier, and because, let's be real, Crowley would not take good care of that fly.

About the point of gravity!

One of the first things we see when Gabriel arrives on earth, is tomatoes, falling. He sees it, and he steps over it. I adore this detail because:

There’s this whole scene where Gabriel keeps dropping a book, all confused. And I can write essays about the ease with which Crowley helps him (he answers an unasked question, because he knows angels Dont Ask! He doesn’t get upset when Jim doesn’t blindly accept it. He goes ‘good point, not quite sure’ when questioned himself, *as a parent should* instead of getting mad and kicking your kids out of heaven!)

‘What’s the point?’ Jim asks.

And Crowley goes ‘so things don’t go wandering off and stay put.’

‘But it doesn’t stay where I put it’, Jim frowns. ‘It falls down.’

… and that IS the whole fucking point isn’t it? Without gravity, without the *threat of falling*, the angels above wouldn’t stay put at all. They’d wander off! It’s about fear, and sacrificing half of the lot to keep the other lot in place.

I don't think we talk enough about the fact that Gabriel & Beelzebub couldn't have gone off together without consequences if Aziraphale & Crowley hadn't been there.

If they hadn't been there, if they'd gone off together, then Gabriel would have been dragged back to Heaven and punished once he was located and Beelzebub would have been dragged in front of the Dark Council and .. well, we don't know but it was bad enough for Crowley to ask for Holy Water as insurance.

It's only because Aziraphale was there, carefully diffusing the situation with, "Gabriel, Beelzebub - what do you want?"

It's only because of Crowley's soft suggestion, "Alpha Centauri's nice. Always wanted to go there."

It's only because of them that Ineffable Bureaucracy can be together safely.

And I think they wind up where they do at the end of season 2 because they need to be in place to make sure the world (and maybe the rest of Heaven and Hell, too) get to decide for themselves what they want, too.

So I was going to use this gif of Jimbriel Jumpscare! in my little things to love about gos2 series...

But actually? I don't love it. It makes me sad. Aziraphale is in the one place on Earth he usually feels safe and able to be himself... and here's his former emotional abuser popping up and startling him. No wonder he takes off for Edinburgh at the first opportunity. (and yeah, I know it's supposed to be funny and on one level it is, but I'm having some feels today so)
