I mean when you really get down to it jimbotnik has the most valid reasons to hunt and attack Sonic out of them all kid movie asside. He was hired by the military to track and capture whatever caused the blackout. The blackout that took out half of the nation's electricity. And not just on the ground but as Tails proved it went up too so if any planes were flying above they probably got hit too. And while I do think a plane can land without its electricity I do think it's hard and it probably scared the shit out of everyone. And that's not even counting what else lost power that really couldn't for safety reasons.

So like I said here comes jimbotnik hired to find this thing and when he finally does before he can even get out a word whether positive or negative he gets punched in the face and then his target (who again can cause a nationwide blackout whenever he wants as far as robotnik knows) is gone with the help of some backwater idiot.

Then his tech gets wrecked which pisses him off even more so that leads the chase in San fran. And the whole banished to the mushroom planet. Which no one knew if he could survive on that world! We knew it was safe for Sonic to live there not that a human would be fine for all Sonic knew he was sending this guy to his death and like no one cared!

Like jimbot is the villain obviously but when you consider the logic of the situation had this not been a kid movie and had we not already known Sonic was the hero this would have made an interesting thriller where the "unseen" dangerous party wins.

You'd get more fucked up feral and evil if you spent 8 months forcibly isolated on a lifeless planet

I am rambling about stob lol

i think my fave dynamic of Stobotnik might be “years long mutual pining, not even an established relationship in the second movie.” There is something that is so charming about a character who is:

A. Brave enough to shed societal norms and become a super villain and try to take over the world, while fighting super powered aliens, but also being too chicken shit to tell a man he has feelings for him

B. Literally the smartest person on the planet by far, but in YEARS hasn’t realized that the man who draws hearts in his coffee and makes puppy eyes at him, MIGHT be interested in him (the self esteem is in hell)

C. A man in his LATE 50s!! who is extremely emotionally stunted and immature, experiencing a school boy level crush (for the first time EVER). The urge to “tee hee” playfully bully him is stronger than any natural force in the universe.

Also the longer the time spent pining the funnier it is to me. Imagine it’s a DECADE. A full 10 years of two dumb asses experiencing sexual tension every single work day. And it’s starts literally the first day they meet, and never lets up. Like that first professional handshake is electric. Robotnik gets his new assistant and damn if his first thought isn’t “oh he’s.. pretty..” like “I hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me” but its too late, it already has lmao. (Love at first sight tropes are sooo corny… which is perfect because these MOVIES are corny!!!)

My version of Baba Yaga.... Botga Yaga? Maybe? Whatever :). If you don't know who she is, look her up.... chances are you've seen some version of Baba Yaga before..... The myth is used a lot in modern movies/cartoons/books/etc. This is what the subject was of the background piece I posted last week. It took me a LOT longer than I thought it would to  do this, but I'm really enjoying it, so I don't mind :). I may tweak it a bit more, but I think I'm done now. I'm thinking about making prints of this eventually too..... maybe for my monthly print perhaps? Who knows :). Tellurian Drama (2020), Riar Rizaldi

On May 5, 1923, the Dutch colonial government erected a VLF radio telegraphic transmitter in West Java, one of the most powerful arc transmitters ever built, with the mission of projecting airwaves back to the Netherlands. In March 2020, the present-day Indonesian government embarked on its plan to reactivate the ruins of the station as a historic site and tourist attraction. Radio Malabar was originally constructed in an area traditionally known as Parahyang (the abode of hyang). “Hyang” has its roots in indigenous animism, describing either divine or ancestral entities who possess supernatural powers and invisibly inhabit high places such as hills, mountains, and volcanoes. Tellurian Drama explores the living landscape surrounding Mount Papandayan and Mount Puntang, the complex stratovolcano in West Java used as a suspension point for the transmitter. It tracks the story of Radio Malabar’s enmeshment with cascading histories of colonial rule, ancient Indigenous spiritual belief, and ecological resistance movements across the 20th and 21st centuries. Examining colonial ruins as an apparatus for geoengineering technologies, Rizaldi’s soundtrack composed with Sudanese musician Iman Jimbot, also gives voice to the mountain as a central character in the film’s narrative: the mountain as conductor of ancestral presence.

017 - Gaius

On his many travel Jimbot found plenty of companions, be it living organics or awakened machines. Each brought some new, cherished memories and experiences, but some were a bitter, tragic outlook into the darker realities of Posterra. Like in the case of a lonesome and slightly overgrown Automated Gardening Unit No. 778. The robot was suffering from the worst possible case – he was partly awakened. His spark found his core, but due to the physical corruption of his wetware and circuits, it couldn’t take over fully and grand him full autonomy from his programming and purpose. It was a prison, the worst, dreadful kind of automated tedium. And so, it ploughed on in its little, decrepit garden, weeding out, cultivating a small plot, growing vegetables. Too janky and slow to combat the encroaching nature, the vines and brambles, but too diligent and stuck in the loop to escape it’s own cruel fate. And so Jimbot and his friends who were travelling with him had a conundrum. Ultimately the story is a saddening one and not worthy of such hasty note, so let it be said, that they fulfilled the wishes of the stuck Spark. They christened the unit by the name of Gaius and then, destroyed it utterly. The remnants were buried in the very soil that Gaius slaved over and the garden was left alone to be swallowed by the uncaring nature.
