i thought we're gonna to see jimin's face because of the album name, why do you think we didn't get it in this photo?

First, it's a mood photo. Meaning it's meant to convey an atmosphere, a feeling of sorts.

The fact we don't see Jimin's face is interesting.

First thing that crossed my mind when I saw the photo was that it might tie into the theme of tailor of chaos photo-folio and filter in the sense that it touches on the concept of perception.

Here, because we only see his back, we don't see a face, so almost like sending a message that he's not here to be projected on, or it can be the other way around, because he's "faceless", he always gets projected on and now he's turning to the light to reveal an unseen side of himself, more raw and mature, as he said in the weverse interview.

Which would make sense to the vulnerability aspect of the album -'Reflection of vulnerable minds and unexposed wounds'. Facing oneself, with your own mind. Perhaps it can also be Jimin want of being free from being projected on narratives or a certain "filter".

I might be completely wrong about this and it might be him leaving the past behind and walking into the light. Either way, it's fascinating.

I didn't expect the mood photo to take me back to 1960s art cinema. I'm thinking of L'Année dernière à Marienbad because the room becomes a character in itself and not just inhabited space. And I can't help but think of Persona and Bergman in general. The austere environment, but filled with introspection: Reflection of vulnerable minds and unexposed wounds....This existential theme in which the self becomes exposed and dissected seems in line with a more abstract representation. Visually, I also had Monica Vitti in mind in L'Avventura.

All these examples from the early second half of the century were seen as part of time image cinema which can offer pure optical or acoustical images (I'm not diving deeper into Deleuze, I've never been a fan).

The point is, the image draws attention to its emptiness. It's quite eerie, especially since the subject has his back turned. The man without a face....

Darkness VS Light.

Both are needed to exist.

When darkness becomes familiar, the light is too blinding.

"Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us."

Facing the light can be just as scary as staying in the dark, if not more.

Another thing I noticed about the face mood photo is how from far away without looking closely you almost can’t tell if Jimin is turned towards or away from the camera either (bwl mv flashbacks anyone?) because of how he’s silhouetted in the doorway. I like how this kind of contributes to the overall mystery of the image and its feel, like there’s something hidden and unsaid that you’re waiting to be revealed 🤔 his face being obscured in a shot for an album called face? There’s something really intriguing and enigmatic about it, which is just so quintessentially Jimin, no? such a gorgeous shot, I’m hoping we get more like this photoshoot in the overall vibes of the album !!

I think his tattoos above the elbow are visible, so he definitely has his back turned and he's looking towards the illuminated door. Nevertheless, there is still an air of mystery lingering. The message might look quite clear, like leaving behind the past, another life while going into the next phase into a blinding light. But what's more important is how that story is told. That's what art is about. Also, it's only a mood photo, perhaps tomorrow we might get something a bit on the conventional side in terms of promo photos, we'll probably see his face. Three times in the span of 45 min!

To answer the second anon question, I can't say I'm looking forward for one song in particular. I have no way of knowing how it will sound like or read the lyrics so it's not something I think about until the actual release of the album.
